But with the Vivo X Fold 5 finally arriving in the Indian market, the competition in the foldable segment in 2025 is heating up. In the past, Vivo’s foldables had a clear edge over Samsung’s offerings. But with the various improvements, let’s see how it takes on the South Korean tech giant’s flagship foldable.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung finally made major upgrades to the design. It is finally matching the foldables from Chinese competitors with a slim 4.2mm body when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. This makes it even slimmer than the Vivo X Fold 5’s 9.2mm body (4.3mm unfolded). While this is a minor difference, the Galaxy Z Fold series doesn’t fall behind in this regard. So your decision here is based on personal preference. Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance, while the Vivo X Fold 7 brings an IP5X and IPX8 rating, which is slightly better.

On the display side, the Vivo X Fold 5 brings an 8.03-inch foldable QHD+ AMOLED inner screen and a 6.53-inch 1.5K AMOLED outer display. Both panels offer a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, 4500 nits of peak brightness, and Dolby Vision. Meanwhile, Samsung offers a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, FHD+ resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for protection, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The primary screen is an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a QXGA+ resolution (2184 x 1968) and 120Hz refresh rate. So once again, you’re getting gorgeous displays on both models.

Vivo packs the X Fold 5 with last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC that offers high performance capable of handling gaming and everyday tasks with ease. But Samsung’s foldable flagship goes above and beyond with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. This custom version of the 8 Elite is more powerful, meaning, you’re getting the best Android chip on the market. Apart from a noticeable improvement in raw performance and graphics computing, this chip is also more power efficient. So if you want the best money has to offer, Samsung clearly has the edge here.

3. Camera

Vivo swings back in the photography department with its Zeiss camera lens and tuning on the X Fold 5. The 50MP (Main, Sony IMX921) + 50MP (Ultra Wide, Samsung JN5) + 50MP (telephoto, Sony IMX882, 3x) is a flagship grade camera setup that is also found on the Vivo X200. While Samsung did make an upgrade in the camera setup by bringing the S25 Ultra’s 200MP primary sensor, the rest of the kit (12MP ultra wide + 10MP telephoto) lags behind.

The main shooter is a true flagship camera, but the overall versatility with Zeiss modes and the other two sensors are just superior in my opinion. For selfies and video calls, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has 10MP cameras while the X Fold 5 has 20MP cameras.

4. Battery & Charging

Another area that Vivo dominates is in the battery and charging department. Thanks to its massive 6,000mAh cell, you can expect a much better battery life on the Vivo X Fold 5 compared to the Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh battery. Samsung still offers the embarrassingly slow 25W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging speeds on its ultra premium phone, while Vivo offers a more respectable 80W wired and 40W wireless fast charging.

5. Pricing and Verdict

The Vivo X Fold 5 only arrives in a single 16GB + 512GB variant in India that costs 149,999 INR. On the other hand, the 12GB + 256GB base variant of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 costs 174,999 INR. The higher end 512GB model with 12GB RAM costs 186,999 INR. So Vivo is undercutting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in the global market.

Samsung has made great improvements in its latest foldable flagship, but the Vivo X Fold 5 is a better rounded foldable overall. But once you factor in aspects like the software, Samsung definitely has an edge. But for that much extra money, it’s still hard to recommend the Z Fold 7 to first-time buyers of a foldable phone or those outside of Samsung’s ecosystem.

Choosing between them depends entirely on how you use your phone.

The Fold7 feels more like a tablet in the hand when unfolded, designed for productivity and multitasking, while the Flip7 is about compact portability and casual elegance. The Fold7’s main 8.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display offers a nearly square aspect ratio, perfect for multitasking, reading, and video editing. It supports a peak brightness of 2600 nits and HDR10+, and the 6.5-inch cover display remains highly usable.

The Flip7 features a 6.9-inch main display with a tall 21:9 aspect ratio, great for scrolling and vertical content. Its 4.1-inch cover screen is much more functional this year and supports full apps, but still feels cramped for serious use.

Both use LTPO panels with 120Hz refresh rates. However, the Fold7 offers a larger workspace and a more immersive experience.

Verdict: Fold7 wins on display versatility and productivity, while Flip7 is better suited for casual and on-the-go viewing.

Flip7’s 10-core Exynos chip is energy efficient and strong in AI and general usage, but it lacks the raw GPU power and peak CPU performance seen in Fold7. For high-end productivity, multitasking, and gaming, Fold7 offers a tangible edge.

The Fold7 also includes up to 1TB of storage with 16GB RAM, whereas Flip7 maxes out at 512GB with 12GB RAM.

Verdict: Fold7 clearly leads in raw power and storage options, making it more future-proof for power users.

Battery and Charging:

Fold7 is equipped with a 4400 mAh battery, while the Flip7 gets a slightly smaller 4300 mAh unit. Despite the size difference, real-world endurance is often better on the Flip7 due to its smaller display and more efficient power use.

Both phones offer identical charging: 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless. However, Fold7’s larger display demands more energy, which may result in faster drain during multitasking.

In long sessions or gaming, Fold7 tends to run through its battery faster. The Flip7 feels more optimized for daily light-to-medium use.

Verdict: Flip7 has better endurance per milliamp-hour, but Fold7 still supports the same charging speed despite its larger battery.

3. Camera

Fold7 packs a versatile triple camera setup with a 200MP primary sensor, 10MP telephoto with 3x zoom, and 12MP ultrawide. The main camera produces sharp, detailed images with excellent dynamic range. Flip7’s dual camera setup includes a capable 50MP main and a 12MP ultrawide. While solid, it lacks a dedicated zoom lens, which limits flexibility in certain shooting scenarios. The 50MP sensor performs well in daylight, but Fold7 provides higher detail and better zoomed shots.

For video, both support 8K and HDR10+, but Fold7’s lens diversity adds to its pro-level capabilities.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 distinguishes itself with a larger, full-featured cover screen this year and impressive portability. It’s a more practical foldable for mainstream users, especially with its improved durability, polished software, and accessible price.

Both support Samsung DeX and Circle to Search, but Fold7’s larger screen makes multitasking far more fluid. Still, Flip7 nails the balance between fashion and function.

Verdict: Choose Fold7 for serious productivity and all-in-one versatility; Go for Flip7 if portability, price, and simplicity matter more.

Vivo X200 FE vs OnePlus 13s: Battle of the Small Premium Phones

In the ongoing era of compact flagships, the Vivo X200 FE is the latest contender. With its high-end performance and sleek and handy design, it directly competes with the OnePlus 13s. But with slightly different priorities in camera, software, and battery life, which one delivers better value for your needs? Let’s break it down.

Both phones cater to users who prefer sleek and manageable devices. The Vivo X200 FE features a glass and aluminum design with flat edges, which is also offered by the OnePlus 13s. However, the X200 FE has a slight edge as it measures 7.99mm in thickness, compared to the OnePlus 13s’ 8.15mm body. This is quite impressive considering the difference in battery size, but we shall get to that later. But one notable advantage is the IP68 + IP69 rating, which is better than the IP65 rating offered on the OnePlus 13s.

On the display side, the Vivo X200 FE has a marginally smaller 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and up to 5000 nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, OnePlus 13s sports a 6.32-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution as well as a 120Hz refresh rate. While the brightness levels tops out at 1600 nits, you get Dolby Vision support as well. So the Vivo X200 FE clearly has some advantages in both design and display here. But what about performance?

2. Performance

While OnePlus is a step behind in the Ingress rating and display brightness, it more than makes up for it in terms of raw performance. The Snapdragon 8 Elite on the OnePlus 13s is a true flagship chip that allows for better performance and power efficiency over last gen chips. Even for gaming, it is simply the better phone.

On the other hand, the Vivo X200 FE has an older but still powerful Dimensity 9300+. While this chip doesn’t match the Snapdragon 8 Elite in horsepower, in most games and day to day use, one would be hard pressed to feel a difference. This is a flagship chip from 2024 and easily holds up a year later. But if you play graphically intense games or want the best of the best, OnePlus 13s emerges the victor here.

3. Camera

OnePlus 13s

Vivo, once again, takes the lead with a more capable and versatile camera system. It packs a triple camera setup that consists of a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor, 8MP ultra wide angle lens, and another 50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto shooter with x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, you get a 50MP shooter with auto focus. Pairing this with Zeiss tuning, you get excellent pictures as the camera system is nearly identical to the Vivo X200 flagship model.

In comparison, OnePlus skips the Hasselblad tuning on the OnePlus 13s. So even with the same sensor as the Oppo Find X8 (50MP Sony LYT700), it lacks the various customization that Zeiss brings to the table. I’ve found the OnePlus 13s camera system to be competent but lacklustre as a “flagship” phone. You’re also missing an ultra wide angle lens, and only get a 2x optical zoom on the 50MP telephoto shooter. Lastly, you have a 32MP selfie camera with auto focus on the front.

4. Battery

OnePlus made headlines with the 13s thanks to its massive 5,850mAh battery pack. On a single full charge, I easily managed to squeeze 1.5 days worth of use from this phone, which charges up quickly with 90W wired fast charging. But Vivo has a definite win here with an even larger 6,500mAh cell with 80W wired fast charging. While the Snapdragon 8 Elite is more power efficient, this is a notable difference in battery capacity. In other words, the Vivo X200 FE is the better option for battery life.

5. Verdict

While I have yet to get my hands on the Vivo X200 FE, it does seem like the better deal here (at least on paper), since both models have an identical 54,999 INR starting price tag and storage configuration. But once you factor in aspects like OxygenOS with the new OnePlus AI, the overall feel of the UI makes a big difference. Unless you’re in a big hurry, stick around for more reviews to know for sure. However, in most scenarios, the X200 FE is a great deal.

Oppo Find X9, Vivo X300, honor Magic 8 and Xiaomi 16 Pro design leaks via schematics

A fresh leak from reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, may have given us our first look at the design of upcoming Android flagships. The insider shared a schematic showing four smartphones, each with a distinct rear camera layout.

As for which phone is which, the tipster left that puzzle for us to solve, but based on previous leaks, we can make some educated guesses.

Guess the phone

The phone on the top left is likely the Oppo Find X9 series. It features a square-ish camera module positioned to the left, unlike the round module seen on the Find X8 series. That matches earlier leaks, which mentioned that the Find X9 would ditch its predecessor’s circular camera design.

Vivo, on the other hand, seems to be sticking to its familiar design language. The X300, seen on the top right, retains a circular camera island similar to the X200 series.

Honor might also continue with the same hexagonal camera island for the Magic 8 Pro (bottom left). But the biggest design shift appears to be coming from the Xiaomi 16 Pro. 

The schematic shows the Xiaomi 16 Pro sporting a wide camera deco that spans the entire top width of the device, exactly as described in previous leaks. Interestingly, this design resembles the one rumored for the iPhone 17 series.

All four phones are expected to feature flat screens this time around, with the sketches revealing large-radius corners on the display side.

2026 Android flagship could come with these camera sensors

Alongside the sketch, Digital Chat Station also revealed camera sensor details that could debut in these models. According to him, devices launching in the September to October window may feature upgraded main sensors like the 50MP OV50Q, Sony’s LYT828, or the mysterious “590.” For telephoto lenses, the phone could feature Samsung’s 200MP HP5 and the 50MP GN8 sensor. 

These next-gen flagships are expected to arrive shortly after Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit on September 23, where the company will unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip.  

MediaTek is also expected to launch the Dimensity 9500 around the same time, meaning we’ll see a flurry of flagship announcements from Chinese brands soon after

Big battery smartphones might finally become more common soon. Battery life is widely considered a key factor when buying a phone, with power users often making either some compromises or sticking with conventional models that let them down. But all of this might be changing very soon.

He claims that the recent silicon batteries on smartphones that are pushing the boundaries of battery density are merely the tip of the spear. Soon, devices with 7,000mAh battery packs or higher will become a lot more common. This trend is expected to kick off by the end of this year, with the initial wave likely dropping in China first.

In other words, the wider release in the global market could arrive sometime next year. Due to the limitations of the current silicon batteries, companies are pushing their R&D teams to experiment with new materials and shapes. So smartphones with batteries larger than 7,000mAh could also be the new standard very soon. In a couple of years, we might see devices push the limits with 10,000mAh cells as well, which is something we’ve typically seen with either concept or brick-like rugged phones.

A recent leak revealed that the Honor Magic 8 Pro could debut with a 7,000mAh+ battery pack. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is working on the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro, which may pack a battery that is larger than 8,000mAh. With silicon carbide battery tech, these models might not see added thickness. A great example is the rumored Honor X70 that is expected to pack a huge 8,300mAh battery despite measuring around 7.9mm.

Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has once again revealed details of an upcoming Vivo smartphone, which appears to be part of the upcoming Vivo X300 series. In a new Weibo post, the tipster shared early details about an imaging-focused flagship device. As per reports, the X300 series may go official as early as September in China.

According to the leak, a forthcoming Vivo flagship phone will have a 200-megapixel 1/1.4-inch main camera, accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel IMX882 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The setup may also feature a new prism-based optical stabilization system for improved focusing.

The device is expected to retain premium features such as full waterproofing, wireless charging, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a compact 6.3-inch display, making it one of Vivo’s smallest flagships in recent years. This phone is like to be called the Vivo X300 when it hits the market.

Vivo has officially launched the X Fold 5 in India, adding yet another book-style foldable to the premium smartphone category. Unveiled alongside the Vivo X200 FE on Monday, the new foldable maintains a familiar two-screen setup while bumping up internal specs to current flagship standards.

The Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus features a 12.7-inch LTPS LCD panel with a 3K (2944 x 1840 pixels) resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, 900 nits peak brightness, and Dolby Vision support. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.

A key highlight is Lenovo AI Now, a local on-device AI assistant powered by LLMs that support up to 8 billion parameters. It enables features like real-time transcription, summarisation, and voice-to-text without relying on the cloud. The device also runs Android 14 with ZUI 16, and Lenovo promises updates till Android 17 and security patches for four years.

On the audio front, there are six Harman Kardon-tuned speakers, including four woofers and two tweeters, with Dolby Atmos enhancement. The tablet includes a 13-megapixel rear camera with a 2-megapixel sensor and LED flash, while the front has a 13-megapixel autofocus camera. It features a fingerprint sensor, Face Unlock, and a stainless-steel kickstand for flexible viewing.

Creative users can benefit from the bundled Lenovo Tab Pen Pro with 8192 pressure sensitivity levels and tilt detection. The 2-in-1 keyboard with an AI key adds to the functionality. It is equipped with a 10,200mAh battery offering 11 hours of streaming and supports 45W fast charging.

The Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus is priced at Rs 44,999 for the 256GB model and Rs 47,999 for the 512GB version. Both include the stylus and 2-in-1 keyboard. The tablet is available in a single Tidal Teal colour and can be purchased from Lenovo.com, Amazon India, and Lenovo’s offline stores.

Galaxy S26 Ultra rumored to feature Sony’s almost 1″ 200MP sensor

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected to launch in January 2026, could finally pack a larger main sensor — potentially allowing it to catch up with rivals from China in terms of camera hardware.

According to Chinese tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the Galaxy S26 Ultra might be equipped with a 1/1.1″ 200MP Sony CMOS sensor — potentially Sony’s first-ever 200MP sensor for smartphones. The leak, shared on Weibo, suggests a significant jump in hardware compared to the 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL HP2 sensor used in the last three generations of Galaxy S Ultra phones.

A larger sensor generally means better light capture, which could translate to sharper detail, improved low-light shots, and better digital zoom. If true, this would be one of the most significant hardware upgrades in the S26 Ultra and could drive a major leap in the phone’s imaging capabilities.

While Samsung currently leans on its in-house Exynos chips for both flagship and mid-range devices, a shift to a Sony sensor could signal a new strategy to stay competitive with brands like Xiaomi and Vivo, which already use larger and more advanced sensors in their premium phones.

That said, the leak isn’t definitive. Some sources suggest the Sony sensor might not be ready in time for the S26 Ultra and could be pushed back to the Galaxy S27 Ultra in 2027. Samsung could still use the ISOCELL HP2 for another year in its S Ultra phone.

According to previous reports, the other cameras on the S26 Ultra may receive iterative updates — such as a slightly higher-resolution 3x telephoto sensor and a revised lens setup for the main sensor. Interestingly, earlier rumors suggested that no major camera upgrades would arrive for the Galaxy S Ultra series until 2028, which casts some doubt on the possible inclusion of a 1/1.1″ 200MP sensor in the S26 Ultra or even its successor. That said, all of this information is based on unofficial sources — and only time will tell what Samsung ultimately has planned for its next Ultra flagship.

Realme 15 Pro confirmed with 7,000mAh battery, 6,500nits peak brightness

Realme is gearing up to launch its Realme 15 series in India on July 24, and all eyes are on the Realme 15 Pro 5G. The phone is shaping up to be a serious contender in the mid-range segment, with a huge battery and a surprisingly bright display.

The official microsite confirms that the Realme 15 Pro 5G will debut at 7 PM IST on July 24. One of its most talked-about features is the massive 7,000mAh battery — the largest in its class — paired with 80W wired charging over USB-C for fast refills.

On the surface, it features a HyperGlow 4D Curve+ AMOLED display, with a peak brightness of 6,500 nits and a 144Hz refresh rate. Realme says the display has a 94% screen-to-body ratio, a 2,500Hz touch response rate, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass — specs that rival many premium phones.

Under the hood, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. Built on a 4nm process, it promises a 27% jump in CPU performance compared to the previous generation, offering smooth gaming and multitasking experiences.

Despite the massive battery, the phone measures just 7.69mm thick, and as you might have expected, it carries an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. It will be available in four finishes: Flowing Silver, Silk Purple, Velvet Green, and Silk Pink.

On the software front, Realme is introducing new AI features, including the “industry-first” AI Edit Genie, which lets users edit photos using voice commands. There’s also AI Gaming Coach 2.0 and AI Ultra Touch Control for enhanced mobile gaming.
