Global Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Geekbench listing reveals Exynos 2400

On July 9, Samsung will take the covers off its next-generation Galaxy foldables. What’s different this time around is that the brand is expected to announce one more foldable apart from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. This new device is the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which is expected to hit the market at a more affordable price compared to the Flip 7. The Korean version of the Z Flip 7 FE was spotted on Geekbench with an Exynos chip in the recent past. Now, the global version of the device, bearing the model number SM-F761B, has appeared in Geekbench’s database, revealing its chipset, RAM, and OS version.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Geekbench listing

As can be seen in the above screenshot, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE’s global edition has been spotted with an Exynos chip, which is mentioned as the “s5e9945” in the motherboard field. This is a 10-core chip with a maximum clock speed of 3.21GHz, and for graphics, it is equipped with the Samsung Xclipse 940 GPU. These clues confirm that the device is powered by the Exynos 2400 chipset.

The Geekbench listing has further revealed that the Z Flip 7 FE has 8GB of RAM and runs on the latest Android 16. In the single-core and multi-core tests, the device scored 1940 and 6136 points, respectively.

According to reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will feature a 6.7-inch main screen and a 3.4-inch cover display. Under the hood, it may house a 3,700mAh battery with 25W charging. It is expected to feature a 10-megapixel front camera and a 12-mgepaixel (main) + 12-megapixel (ultra-wide) dual-camera setup.

Ulefone’s Latest Rugged Phone Brings Night Vision and Gigantic Battery on a Budget

A couple of months ago, Ulefone released the Armor X32 as a new budget rugged smartphone. This model was notable thanks to its tough build, night vision, camera, and more. Now, the brand has just released another device with similar specs, so let’s check it out.

Ulefone Armor X16: What does it offer?

Just like the Armor X32, the new Armor X16 features a MIL-STD-810H (military grade) certified body with an IP68 + IP69K rating for water and dust resistance. The Ulefone Armor X16 also packs a massive 10,360mAh battery pack, which supports 33W fast charging. But this durable body and big battery come at the cost of a hefty phone. The weight of 395 grams is nearly double that of typical smartphones.

Ulefone Armor X16
Ulefone Armor X16 Rugged Phone launched with a huge battery and a night vision camera

On the front, you get a 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel that offers HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the rear packs a 48MP main sensor, a 2MP macro shooter, and a 20MP night vision camera. Ulefone equips the Armor X16 with the budget Helio G91 4G SoC, which is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Other notable features include a fingerprint scanner for security, Android 15 OS out of the box, NFC, and an IR blaster.

Unfortunately, this model is limited to the Chinese market at the moment, unlike the Armor X32. Buyers can import it from China via third party retailers, but might face issues when claiming warranty. According to NotebookCheck, you can get your hands on this model for around 168 US Dollars.

Xiaomi might drop Leica branding for its upcoming flagships

UPDATE– Xiaomi India reached out directly to us to confirm that the Leica alliance is very much intact. “Together, Xiaomi and Leica have collaborated closely to integrate advanced optics and imaging technologies into Xiaomi devices,” a spokesperson told us. “This partnership continues to thrive, grounded in a shared vision of pushing the boundaries of mobile imaging. Recent rumors suggesting the end of our collaboration are entirely unfounded.”

Xiaomi is making a major shift in its smartphone imaging strategy by ending its co-branding partnership with Leica for all upcoming SM8850 sub-series devices. These phones, expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, will instead rely on Xiaomi’s in-house imaging technologies.

Xiaomi-15-Ultra

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, future Xiaomi and Redmi models will use proprietary imaging brands or apply customized color tuning inspired by the main flagship series. These devices will not feature any external branding, such as Leica logos.

The move reflects Xiaomi’s confidence in its internal research and development teams and is also expected to reduce manufacturing costs. Co-branding with Leica reportedly added $3–$5 per device in licensing fees, along with additional authorization charges.

Xiaomi may drop Leica DCS

This change will apply to several upcoming models, including the Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, 16 Ultra, and 16 Ultra Max, as well as the Redmi K90 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra. Redmi and Poco, which compete in price-sensitive markets, are likely to benefit the most from the cost savings.

Xiaomi plans to redirect the money saved from branding fees into hardware upgrades. Upcoming devices are expected to include better sensors, improved computational photography, bigger batteries, and updated flat-panel displays. Digital Chat Station also said that Redmi’s camera capabilities will undergo a significant upgrade, calling it an “epic-level” enhancement.

This pivot follows a broader trend among smartphone makers to move away from third-party imaging partnerships. Huawei now uses its own XMAGE system after ending its collaboration with Leica. Meanwhile, brands like Vivo, Oppo, and Honor continue to work with Zeiss, Hasselblad, and Harcourt, respectively.

By cutting co-branding deals and strengthening its in-house solutions, Xiaomi is positioning itself to deliver flagship-level features while keeping pricing competitive. All upcoming SM8850 series phones are also expected to include large batteries and flat displays, pointing to a clear focus on core user experience.

In related news, Xiaomi has launched a new 8000W modular track socket featuring a child-safe design and smart power controls. The company has also introduced a floor-standing air conditioner with fast cooling and heating, a 115° wide-angle swing, and HyperOS integration.

This Portable Laser System Might Be the Most Futuristic Way to Kill Mosquitoes Yet

Photonmatrix has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for its portable laser mosquito repellent device. The system, which resembles a miniature sci-fi turret, uses LIDAR and laser technology to detect and eliminate mosquitoes mid-flight. Pricing starts at $498, and the company claims the device can kill up to 30 mosquitoes per second, even in complete darkness.

Photonmatrix laser mosquito repellent

The system is built by inventor Jim Wong and combines high-precision LIDAR with a galvanometer-controlled laser. It can identify mosquitoes and distinguish them from larger objects like humans, pets, and birds, avoiding accidental firing. The laser operates silently and without chemicals, relying purely on infrared and laser targeting to neutralize flying pests within milliseconds.

The Photonmatrix standard version has a range of 3 meters, while the Pro model extends coverage to 6 meters. Both versions are IP68-rated for dust and water resistance and support up to 16 hours of operation when connected to a sufficiently powerful 24V power bank. Instead of using AI-based algorithms, the system relies on strict trigger conditions to ensure both safety and precision.

Photonmatrix laser mosquito repellent

Buyers will receive the core laser unit, a power brick, a 2-meter DC cable, and a mounting base. Optional accessories include a rotating platform and a dongle for connecting to smartphone power banks that meet the voltage requirement.

While the campaign has already surpassed 1300% of its initial $20,000 goal, the Photonmatrix remains in the prototype phase. Mass production has not yet begun, and potential buyers should consider the usual risks of crowdfunding hardware. However, if successfully delivered, the Photonmatrix could offer a novel and highly targeted way to deal with mosquitoes in backyards, campsites, or fishing spots.

Honor X70 leaks with 8300mAh cell, 80W wired and wireless charging support

A new leak shared by tipster Panda is Bald on Weibo has surfaced details on the upcoming Honor X70 smartphone. The phone is expected to launch sometime this month and looks set to replace last year’s X60 and X60 Pro with incremental upgrades in hardware and battery tech.

According to the leak, the Honor X70 will feature a 6.79-inch flat display with a 1.5K resolution. That’s a slight bump in screen size compared to the X60 Pro’s 6.78-inch AMOLED panel, though there’s no word on refresh rate or display technology in the leak.

The phone will also carry Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, replacing the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 used in the X60 Pro.

A 8300mAh battery

One of the more notable changes is the battery capacity. The X70 is said to pack an 8300mAh battery, much larger than the 6600mAh unit on the previous model. The cell will support 80W wired charging.

Interestingly, the leak suggests the 512GB version of the phone will add support for wireless charging. That model will reportedly measure slightly thicker and heavier at 7.9mm and 199g, compared to 7.7mm and 193g on the standard variant.

Honor X60

Moreover, the device could come in white, blue, and black. The tipster didn’t reveal camera specs, RAM configurations, or pricing, though it will squarely fall in mid-range territory.

For reference, the Honor X60 launched in October 2024, starting at 1,199 yuan, while the Pro version came in at 1,499 yuan.

Honor’s previous X60 series offered modest specs for its price. The standard model features a Dimensity 7025-Ultra chip, a 6.8-inch LCD, and a 5800mAh battery. The Pro model brought a 120Hz AMOLED panel and better charging speeds.

The upcoming X70 seems to retain that value-focused approach. Its launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but with leaks surfacing and July already underway, an official announcement doesn’t seem far off.

Huawei’s Kirin 9030 chip might deliver a 20% performance jump

Huawei’s recently launched Pura 80 series ships with the Kirin 9020. It’s the same chip that powered last year’s Mate 70 lineup. But the real buzz is around what’s coming next. The company’s next flagship SoC, reportedly called the Kirin 9030, is expected to debut with the Mate 80 series later this year.

According to a new leak (via Huawei Central), the Kirin 9030 is expected to offer a 20% performance boost over the Kirin 9020. That’s a notable jump, especially considering Huawei already claims the Kirin 9020 is 36% faster than the chips inside the Pura 70 series.

Huawei Kirin 9100 energy efficiency

If true, this could mean a 50–60% improvement over the older Kirin 9000s 5G, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. These numbers are speculative at best, and the leak itself comes from a relatively unknown source. So, yes, you’ll want to take this with the usual pinch of salt.

What seems a bit more grounded is the chip’s launch timeline. A report from reliable leaker Digital Chat Station suggests Huawei is prepping one of four major flagship chips expected to arrive in late 2025, and the Kirin 9030 is likely that one.

5nm incoming?

Of course, we are not expecting Huawei’s next chip to go toe-to-toe with Snapdragon’s or Apple’s best, not yet, anyway. But what could be more interesting than raw performance is how the chip is made.

Several reports out of China claim Huawei’s Kirin X90 PC chip is already being manufactured on a 5nm process. If Huawei has indeed cracked in-house 5nm production, that would be a huge win for the company’s long-term chip ambitions.

Huawei Kirin X90 chip specs leak

Hardware aside, Huawei’s real ace right now is software optimization. And honestly, it’s doing a better job than most expected. Take the Huawei Mate X5, a foldable with three displays, powered by the Kirin 9010. That chip is driving an absurd number of pixels, and yet, the experience remains smooth.

So while Huawei’s silicon may still lag behind industry leaders in raw numbers, it’s clear the company is finding other ways to stay in the game.

Sony suspends Xperia 1 VII sales due to serious software glitches

Sony’s latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, may have had a promising debut in Japan, but its rollout has hit an unexpected roadblock. The company has now officially paused sales and shipments of the device in its home country, following multiple reports of serious operational issues. While the global versions seem unaffected for now, the Japanese models are facing troubling problems that have prompted Sony to take action.

Random shutdowns and reboots prompt temporary halt

The affected Sony Xperia 1 VII units are said to suffer from random shutdowns, reboots, or in some cases, not powering on at all. Sony’s Japanese support page has listed four specific models impacted — SO-51F, SOG15, A501SO, and XQ-FS44. These issues appear serious enough to warrant a temporary suspension of availability, although the brand is still investigating the root cause.

Some early speculation points to compatibility issues with Japan-exclusive services like Osaifu-Keitai, though this remains unconfirmed. Sony has advised users experiencing such issues to press and hold the power and volume up buttons for 20 seconds to try recovering the device. A new software update with build number “71.0.A.2.43” is also available, which may help mitigate the problem — though it’s unclear if this update actually fixes the core issue.

Global models remain unaffected for now

So far, these shutdown-related issues appear to be limited to Japanese variants, with no reports of similar problems emerging from global markets. The Xperia 1 VII is currently not available in the US, and given the brand’s limited presence there, a stateside release remains unlikely. Still, this situation raises concerns about whether the issue is software-based or indicative of deeper hardware flaws — something only time will tell.

A new Honor device carrying the model number CLE-AN00 has appeared on both MIIT and 3C certification platforms in China. The CMIIT listing’s source code reveals the presence of a 5,370mAh rated battery, which strongly suggests it is the Magic V2 Flip. Meanwhile, the 3C certification confirms support for 80W wired charging, although actual charging speeds may be limited to 66W.

Nothing Launcher 3.3.4 Now Available with Redesigned UI and Smoother Animations

Nothing has released version 3.3.4 of its Android launcher with key improvements focused on performance, usability, and visual design. The update is now available through the Google Play Store and works on most Android devices running Android 10 or higher.

The biggest change in this update is the redesigned app drawer. It now follows the design style of the upcoming Nothing Phone 3. The layout is cleaner and more user-friendly, giving users easier access to apps while keeping the look consistent with the rest of the Nothing interface.

The new Essential Search feature has also been added. This search bar lets users find contacts, apps, files, and settings from one place. It removes the need to open multiple apps or menus and helps users get what they need faster.

Animations across the system have also been improved. App launches, folder openings, and screen transitions are now smoother. These changes make the launcher feel quicker and more polished during daily use.

Nothing Launcher 3.3.4 also strengthens its integration with the rest of the Nothing ecosystem. It is designed to offer a better experience not just for Nothing phones, but also for users on other Android devices who want a simple and clean interface.

The update shows Nothing’s focus on building a consistent user experience across software and hardware. With the Nothing Phone 3 on the way, this launcher update helps prepare users for the next version of the company’s products.

The new features are now live. Users can download or update the launcher from the Play Store.

OnePlus-12

This update adds a Game Camera feature that lets users take live screenshots and record flashbacks while gaming. It is designed to help capture important in-game moments quickly.

There is now support for remote control of Windows PCs. With this feature, users can control their PC and access files directly from their phone. The update also improves the cellular network algorithm, which should lead to smoother and more stable network performance.

A new Speaker Cleaner feature has been added under Phone Manager. It helps clean the speakers and maintain their performance. To access it, go to Phone Manager, tap on Tools, then More, and find it under Accessibility & convenience.

The Drag and Drop feature has also been added. It lets users move images and text using gestures in supported third-party apps. This can be turned on in Settings under Accessibility & convenience.

The system section gets several updates. Users can now perform fuzzy searches with spaces in the Settings app and search app names to access or manage them directly. The responsiveness of floating windows has been improved. Animations when exiting Quick Settings or the Notification drawer are smoother. Apps can now be opened from quick functions even when the screen is locked. When notifications are stacked, the latest one will now show a summary with the number and source of the remaining notifications. The order of search results in Settings has also been refined.
