Nokia 9 is trending on the path of becoming just more than an advertised product, though still void of recognition from the phone’s manufacturer, the purported Nokia 9 according to leaks will come with a Penta-camera set up that might bring Nokia “PureView” to a different level.
From a new case render leaks today, featuring different angles of the supposed Nokia 9. The render shares similarities with the former case render that has been seen. All render poses seven holes for housing five cameras set up, one optic sensor and a flash, a mic-hole is positioned just above the Penta-camera set in these recent leaks and the previous renders. Moreover, these renders do not display the front of the device, which was only featured in the supposed OnLeaks renders. However, with these series of renders, we might be expecting a finishing design of the Nokia 9. As at November, there was a leak of a full Computer Aided Diagram (CAD) render of the Nokia 9, and for all we know, these featured renders could be based mainly on those renders and basically a Nokia device. However, since the three models have been officially certified for Bluetooth, definitely a real Nokia should be around the corner.
Following the company’s trademark registration back in August, this device is believed to feature the “PureView” branding. Also, rumour has it that it will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 CPU, 8GB of RAM for the smooth running of the device, a 5.9-inch quality High Definition display (QHD) coupled with 18:9 aspect ratio and an in-display fingerprint at the rear. Several sources have disclosed that the device will be launched in the latter part of January 2019.
Punch hole displays may become the future of borderless phones. In order to get rid of bezels and notches, Huawei and Samsung decided to opt for a hole in-display which only contains the front camera. The new solution debuted with Huawei Nova 4 and Samsung Galaxy A8s, while yesterday Huawei’s sub-brand released another device with a punch hole display: the Honor V20 (View 20). That is why now we got all the perfect candidates for a specs comparison between punch hole displays.

Design
Besides having one of the highest screen-to-body ratio and a tri-borderless design without a notch, Honor V20 has one of the most impressive back covers ever seen. Indeed, not only it comes in gradient colors, but it also has a V on its rear panel changing its color and position depending on the viewing angle from which you look at it. If you want a soberer design, then you should go for the Huawei Nova 4 which comes with a beautiful look and gradient colors without that light effect, while Samsung Galaxy A8s is the thinnest one but also the tallest one due to its slightly thicker bezels.
Display
If you want the best display quality, you should not choose any of these handsets. They come with typical midrange displays: IPS panels with a Full HD+ resolution just like most of the devices with price tags above $200. The only amazing thing of these displays are their incredibly narrow bezels and, as said above, the display hole housing the front camera which allows them to sport a tri-borderless design without a notch, a slider and so on. Even Samsung Galaxy A8s has an IPS panel, despite the whole Galaxy A series being equipped with AMOLED displays.
Hardware/Software
Huawei Honor V20 has the most powerful processor, so also the best performance. We are talking about the new Kirin 980 that is the same found on the Huawei Mate 20 series, made with a 7 nm production process. Together with the Kirin 980, you can also get up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage with a micro SD slot separated from the dual SIM slot, so you can use both at the same time. Honor V20 still comes with a high-end processor, but it is the older and less impressive Kirin 970 which is inferior to the Snapdragon 845. At last, Samsung Galaxy A8s has just an upper-midrange SoC: the Snapdragon 710. Android Pie is pre-installed in each case.
Camera
At least on the paper, the most amazing camera department belongs to Huawei Nova 4. It is the first phone to sport the new 48 MP Sony sensor with the highest resolution ever seen in the smartphones market. A sensor offering no loss of detail even while zooming, paired with a secondary 16 MP sensor and a third 2 MP depth sensor. Honor V20 has a 48 MP camera too, but it is a dual camera setup and it only includes a TOF 3D camera besides the main sensor. While on the paper Huawei Nova 4 seems the most impressive camera phone, we will have to try each of these devices to give a final verdict on their cameras.
Battery
Huawei Nova 4 is a bit thicker than its rivals, but it has the biggest battery and it is able to last more on a single charge. With 4000 mAh, you should be able to cover a full day of battery life even in intensive scenarios. Further, it comes with a faster-charging technology. Huawei Nova 4 takes the second place with a smaller battery than Honor V20 but much bigger than Galaxy A8s’ 3400 mAh unit.
Price
The listing price of Huawei Honor V20 is about €460/$526, Huawei Nova 4 costs about €480/$548 and Samsung Galaxy A8s carries a €393/$450 price tag. These prices are referred to the Chinese market as these devices are still not in the global market. I like more the Honor V20 because of its higher performance, magnetic design, and bigger battery, so I would personally choose it.

An unnamed source has revealed to Brazilian publication that Motorola will be debuting the Moto G7 series at Brazil before the MWC 2019.
The publication has no information on the exact launch date of the Moto G7 series. However, it is quite confident that it will be made official ahead of MWC 2019. Past reports have revealed that the Moto G7 series will include four handsets such as Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Power and Moto G7 Play.

December is usually a very cold month and it is not unusual to see companies releasing products that serve the need of staying warm during the cold weather. Xiaomi’s ecological chain company Smartmi has just launched a new electric heater on crowdfunding which cot 349 yuan. However, the Smartmi Electric Heater ill sell for just 299 yuan ($43) during the crowdfunding period.
The product is manufactured by Smartmi technology and is tipped to be capable of heating up the air inside the house such that the density becomes different from that of cold air. This difference in density creates a convection effect and thus, stimulates the circulation of the air in order to heat up the home. Compared with the traditional radiation-based electric heater, this new product has the advantages of rapid heating and low drying, and the user feels more comfortable when using it. In addition, the gadget also supports a more precise temperature regulation and also has a constant temperature function. This function will come in handy to enable heat to reach areas with insufficient heating. Obviously, this function is extremely user-friendly in areas with insufficient heating, and it is also very helpful for reducing power consumption.
In addition, the device comes with built-in WiFi module which means users can control the gadget through the MIJIA App or XiaoAI smart assistant. Thus, you can remotely switch it on while at work so as to heat up the home before you get there. This will also afford users the opportunity to stay in bed and control the electric heater without having to step down. The app can also be used to adjust the heating temperature and set other features like child lock etc. It is worth mentioning that the Smartmi electric heater has made a more comprehensive design in terms of safety of use, which is very warm.
At present, the Xiaomi Smartmi Electric Heater is being crowdfunded for 299 yuan ($43) via the online channels as well as offline Mi Home stores and other Xiaomi authorised stores.
The Galaxy A8s launched a few weeks ago as the first phone in the world with a hole in its screen. However, it wasn’t available for purchase immediately. That changes in a few days as interested buyers will now be able to grab a unit starting on January 1.
The Galaxy A8s will also sell for a lesser price than originally reported. Instead of the ¥2999 (~$437) price tag, the phone will sell for ¥2799 (~$408). It will be available for purchase on JD.com and those who pre-order before January 1 will receive a bunch of gifts, though you will be required to pay a deposit of about ¥200 (~$29).
The Galaxy A8s is the first Samsung phone with an Infinity-O display. It is a 6.4-inch panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2340 x 1080. The phone also packs some impressive processing power. Rather than a mid-range Exynos chipset, the Galaxy A8s is powered by the upper mid-range Snapdragon 710 mobile platform paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Samsung has also been generous with the cameras. There are three on the back and the fourth one is in front. The triple camera setup is a 10MP telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom, a 24MP f/1.7 primary camera, and a 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor. The selfie camera is a 24MP sensor.
The phone has a 3,400mAh battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support and runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack – a first for a Galaxy phone.
On Dec. 17, Huawei had introduced the Huawei Nova 4 smartphone. As scheduled, the handset went on sale for the first time in China today at 10:08 AM. Soon after making it available for buying, its Pearl White went out of sale while the rest of the color variants such as Honey Red, Blue and Black are still available for buying.
The Huawei Nova 4 comes in two variants such as Standard and High version. These variants are respectively priced at 3099 Yuan (~$451) and 3,399 Yuan (~$495).
The Nova 4 is the first smartphone from the company to adopt the punch hole display design which features a 4.5mm diameter cutout at the top-left corner. The handset is fitted with a 6.4-inch IPS LCD screen that carries support for full HD+ resolution of 2310 x 1080 pixels.
The Kirin 970 chipset that powered the Huawei and Honor branded phones in the previous year drives the Huawei Nova 4. The SoC is supported by 8 GB of RAM. It includes an inbuilt storage of 128 GB. For accelerated graphics performance, the Nova 4 features GPU Turbo technology.
The frontside of the Huawei Nova 4 is fitted with a 25-megapixel selfie shooter. The Android 9 Pie OS that is customized with EMUI 9.0 skin comes loaded on the smartphone. The Nova 4 draws power from 3,750 that is equipped with support for 18W rapid charging. The rear shell of the phone features a fingerprint scanner.
The standard and high version of the Huawei Nova 4 feature triple rear cameras. The standard version has 20-megapixel primary sensor whereas the high version has 48-megapixel main sensor. The other two sensors that are present inside the triple camera module of the Nova 4 are 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel.
At present, the Huawei Nova 4 is only available for buying in China. There is a possibility that the smartphone will be made available in other countries in the starting months of the coming year.
The Motorola P-series is a new series that was unveiled by the Lenovo-owned company this year. The first of the P-series include the Motorola P30, Motorola P30 Play a.k.a Motorola One, and the Motorola P30 Note a.k.a Motorola One Power. A new leak has revealed the series will continue next year, starting with the Motorola P40.
The leak is a 360° video render and images courtesy of OnLeaks in collaboration with 91mobiles and they give us our very first look at the device.
A signature feature of the Motorola P30 series is the notch above the display. For the Motorola P40, Motorola is ditching that for what will be the trend of 2019 – a punch hole display. It is too early to say if the other P40 phones will adopt the same design.
The hole that houses the front camera sits in the top left corner and appears to be a tad bigger than that of the Samsung Galaxy A8s. The bezels don’t appear to have reduced and the one at the top is now even thicker. However, this is just a render and the device itself may be a bit different. The screen size hasn’t changed and remains 6.2-inches.
[envira-gallery id=”229542″]
The rear of the Motorola P40 has also been redesigned. It is still home to dual cameras one of which is said to be a 48MP sensor but they look different now. The sensors are in the same housing, however, the LED flash now sits below the cameras instead of between them. The Motorola logo is black and is home to a fingerprint scanner.
Although this is the Motorola P40, there is the Android One logo at the base. The Motorola P30 didn’t launch outside China, so this means the P40 will get an international launch though most probably under a different name just like the other P30 phones. What do you think it will be called?
The Motorola P40 also has a USB-C port at the bottom and a 3.5mm audio jack at the top.

Tronsmart is a Chinese tech company founded by Eric Cheng. The founder is a tech enthusiast who is said to have used his first paycheck in 2013 to create a small laboratory where he disassembled tech products in order to grasp a greater understanding of the inner components. He was based in Shenzhen, Asia’s Silicon Valley of hardware and this was helpful in building his passion as he could easily find components in the local market and assemble his own unique audio devices. Eric took this self-acquired understanding of electronics and used it to create a wide range of cost-effective gadgets. After assembling a trusted team, Eric managed to bring his self-made electronics to mass production; thus creating the brand “Tronsmart”.

Now, ahead of the Honor View20 launch, Amazon India has started teasing the launch of the same phone in the Indian market. The phone’s landing page on the e-commerce platform also reveals that the phone will be sold exclusively through Amazon in India, similar to its predecessor Honor View10.

The front-facing camera is placed under the display at the top-left corner. The in-display camera occupies only a fraction of space since the hole for the camera measures only 4.5mm in diameter. This enables the company to offer slimmer bezels around the display.
Under the hood, the device is powered by 7nmm Kirin 980 octa-core chipset, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. There is no microSD card slot on the device. Huawei, which is currently under immense pressure due to the China-USA trade war, has something good to look forward to. The company is all set to beat the sales of Apple iPhones to take the second place in the global smartphone sales market.
While Huawei has beat Apple for the second spot in the global smartphones sales in previous quarters, this will be the first time that Huawei will beat Apple in full-year smartphone sales.
The Chinese company has already shipped more than 200 million units this year and has managed to greatly increase sales in China, Europe, and Africa. As per the report, it has already achieved more than 30 percent jump in global unit sales from the 153 million sold in 2017.
The most popular smartphone series from the company has been the Huawei P20-series, which primarily focuses on the camera performance, which features camera sensors co-developed with Germany’s Leica. The company’s head of consumer business said that it’s possible Huawei becomes the world’s top smartphone maker by the end of next year, pointing to strong growth in Europe and China.
According to the data from International Data Corp. (IDC), Huawei controlled 10.4 percent of the global smartphone market in 2017, behind Samsung Electronics’ 21.6 percent and Apple’s 14.7 percent. However, Huawei came in second behind Samsung for the first time in the April-June quarter and kept its place ahead of Apple in July-September as well.
However, it’s difficult for Huawei to hold on the spot for long given that the company is facing bans in key markets, such as the United States, Canada, and Australia. A few countries and telecom companies are also shying from using Huawei communications equipment. This is bound to hurt the sales of the company’s phones in 2019.
During the OPPO Developer Conference that was held yesterday in China, OPPO Vice-President and President of Software Engineering Division Wu Hengang introduced Breeno voice assistant. The intelligent assistant from OPPO integrates perception, decision-making and learning skills through natural interaction. The Chinese manufacturer hopes that it will become the universal ecological hub of all things.
Breeno consists of 7 modules such as advice, screen recognition, awareness, speed, voice, driving and space. For instance, an OPPO smartphone user at the airport will see Breeno automatically suggesting boarding entry information. At the same time, it will also show flight information at the bottom of the screen.
Breeno can better understand the needs of the users through the convergence of perceptual technology and natural interaction. Cognitive skills such as natural understanding, knowledge mapping, situational calculation and customized suggestions allows Breen to understand the world more comprehensively.
Hengang is of the view that with the arrival of 5G+ era, there will be deep integration of 5G, AI, cloud computing, AR and other technologies that will result in production of new hardware and services. OPPO phones will be serving as a smart hub for all these technologies. He added that Breeno will be made an open platform that will enable developers to take advantage of the AI capabilities of the company. In future, OPPO will be made available on phones across different brands.
Various OEMs are providing their own version o of voice assistant on their supported devices. Vivo phones come with Jovi assistant whereas Samsung smartphones are loaded with Bixby assistant. Xiaomi phones that are available in China come with Xiao AI. Google Assistant is widely available across various Android devices since it is available for download through Play Store and Apple’s App Store. Amazon’s Alexa assistant is also available for download for Android and iOS devices. OPPO’s Breeno is a new entrant compared to its competitors. In the coming, the company may make it available on wide range of its smartphones.
