Meizu 16th Indian launch will hold on December 5

Meizu is heading to India and it is taking the Meizu 16th along. The Chinese smartphone maker has been dropping teasers each day since it first announced it had an event in India last week. Today it confirmed the event is scheduled for December 5.

According to Meizu, the event will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube. We are not sure if it is only the Meizu 16th that will be announced at the event but we won’t be surprised if some other products tag along.

The Meizu 16th was announced in China back in August. It has a 6.0” FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 845 processor, up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also has a fingerprint scanner buried under its display.

A 12MP + 20MP dual camera combo graces its back while a 20MP camera sits above the display. While it doesn’t have a MicroSD card slot, it does have an audio jack. There is also a Type-C port for charging its 3010mAh battery which has support for Meizu’s mCharge 4.0 24W fast-charging.

The Meizu 16th has a bigger sibling called the Meizu 16th Plus. It has a bigger 6.5-inch display, up to 256GB of storage and a larger 3570mAh battery. The rest of the specs are the same as that of the smaller variant.

Samsung Galaxy M10, M20 mass production reportedly started in India

Recent reports have revealed that Samsung will be announcing the new Galaxy M series of smartphones in early 2019. The Galaxy M range is rumored to replace Galaxy J, Galaxy On and Galaxy C series of smartphones from the company and it will be aimed towards emerging markets. The Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 smartphones that have surfaced in the recent reports are rumored to be included in the upcoming Galaxy M series. Citing industry sources, 91 Mobiles claims that Samsung has started with the mass productions of Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 smartphones.

The publication claims that the production of the Galaxy M10 and M20 phones have started in the Noida-based factory of Samsung India. Based on the recent reports it can be said that the Galaxy M will be entry-level smartphone. The handset has a model number of SM-M105F and it is tipped to arrive in 16 GB and 32 GB storage versions.

Also, it is expected to be available in Dark Grey and Blue colors. The smartphone was recently spotted on Geekbench with specs like Exynos 7870 chipset, 3 GB of RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo OS. I tis rumored to feature an LCD display.

The Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 phones that have respective model numbers of SM-M205F and SM-M305F are rumored to feature Infinity-U (u-shaped) notched displays. Rumors surrounding the Galaxy M20 have revealed that it will be fueled by Exynos 7885 chipset. It will be loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. The SoC of the phone will be supported by 3 GB of RAM. It will be coming in 32 GB and 64 GB storage models. The Infinity-U display of the phone is expected to carry support for Full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels.

There is not much information available on the specifications of the Galaxy M30. It is speculated to be available in 64 GB and 128 GB storage models.

Registration open for Vivo NEX 2, will bring a new OS experience

Vivo is set to unveil a new NEX smartphone soon. The phone has appeared in a couple of leaks, showing off its most important feature – dual screens. Currently referred to as the Vivo NEX 2, Vivo has now opened registration for those interested in the device and the registration page reveals a few key features of the phone.

The Vivo NEX 2 will come four core technologies according to the website:

1. An industry-first appearance – while the NEX 2 is far from being the first dual-screen phone in the world, Vivo claims its design is different from what we have seen before.

2. New operating experience – it appears Vivo has developed a new version of its OS that has been tailored for dual-screen phones. We are really curious to see these features the OS brings.

3. New camera experience – the NEX 2 is also being advertised as bringing a new way to use the cameras on a phone. From the video teasers on the page, the NEX 2 will have three cameras which will all be on the rear.

4. New AI – the phone is also said to come with new AI features.

Apart from the above, the NEX 2 will also have an in-display fingerprint scanner, making it the first dual-screen phone with one.

Honor V20 and Honor 11 existence officially confirmed; V20 arrival could be delayed

Last year, Honor had launched the Honor V10 smartphone in November. Hence, Honor fans are eagerly waiting for the arrival of the Honor V20. Today, Honor President George Zhao has for the first time confirmed the existence of the Honor V20 and Honor 11 phones. This indicates that Huawei’s sub-brand is working on both V20 and 11 smartphones.

When an Honor fan asked about V20 to Zhao, he responded on V20 by saying “it’s a big trick.” Another fan asked whether the V20 will be launching in the first half of 2019, he rhetorically on its existence. However, he did not share any information on the specifications of these phones.

Honor had launched the Honor Magic smartphone in December 2016. The Honor Magic 2 was announced in October this year as its successor. The Honor V20 was expected to arrive in November this year, but the launch of Magic 2 seems to have been delayed. There is no confirmation on whether it will be announced this month or early next year. Recent leaks have revealed that the VCE-AL00 and VCE-TL00 are the model numbers of Honor V20. These models have received 3C and CMIIT approvals in China.

The Kirin 970 powered Honor V10 had arrived as a cheaper version of Mate 10. It is speculated that the Honor V20 could be cheaper edition of the Mate 20. Hence, the Honor V20 could be fueled by Kirin 980 which also powers the Mate 20. A leaked photo of the alleged Honor V20’s display panel that had surfaced in the previous week had suggested that it could be arriving with waterdrop notch screen.

Probably, it could be equipped with the same 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel triple camera setup that is available on the Honor Magic 2. It will be loaded with Android 9 Pie OS. Samsung’s first foldable smartphone could be called Samsung Galaxy Fold

There have been numerous rumors related to the name of Samsung‘s first foldable smartphone. However, now it seems that the company has finally decided the name of its upcoming foldable smartphone.

After speculations of Galaxy F, Galaxy Foldable, Galaxy X, and Galaxy Flex, among others, a new trademark filing from Samsung suggests that the phone is called Samsung Galaxy Fold. However, do note that the company has not yet officially confirmed the phone’s name.

Samsung has already demoed a smartphone with its Infinity Flex display at a developer conference last month. However, the phone was a prototype and was partially covered during the demonstration. Also, the lights were deemed, not offering a clear look at the phone.

The South Korean giant is expected to launch the “Galaxy Fold” smartphone early next year globally. If the reports are to be believed, then the phone could make its commercial debut in March 2019. To access the phone’s demand, the company is reportedly planning to produce one million units of its foldable smartphone.

The phone will be equipped with two screens, namely Cover Display and Main Display. The frontside of the phone will feature 4.6-inch Cover Display that will carry support for 840 x 1960 pixels. When the device is opened, it offers a tablet-like experience through its massive 7.3-inch Main Display which has a flexible OLED screen offering 1536 x 2152 pixels screen resolution.

Samsung has not revealed the phone’s specifications and pricing details as of now. This time, the company has tightened its grip over the hardware leaks as very limited details are known so far. As for the software, DJ Koh, head of Samsung’s Mobile Division, had said that Samsung is collaborating with Google to create a customized version of the foldable device.

Since not much details about the phone is known yet, it seems we have to wait for the official unveiling to get information about the company’s first foldable smartphone. On the other hand, Huawei and LG are also working on flexible phones, named Mate Fold and Foldi.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro is now available for purchase in India, costs Rs. 69,990 ($998)

Last week, Huawei launched its flagship smartphone — Huawei Mate 20 Pro in the Indian market, marking the debut of the Huawei Mate-series in India.

The phone is now available for purchase in India exclusively through Amazon. While the Mate 20 Pro is up for sale today only for the Amazon Prime members, it will be available for purchase to everyone from tomorrow, i.e. 4th December.

The phone is priced at Rs. 69,990 (~$998) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage model and comes in two color options — Emerald Green and Twilight. As part of an early bird limited period offer, users can purchase the Sennheiser PXC 550 wireless headphones along with the smartphone at a combined price tag of Rs. 71,990 (approximately $1,026).

Coming to the specifications, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro features a notched 6.39-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with 3120 x 1440 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by the company’s own Kirin 980 chipset, which is manufactured using the 7nm FinFET technology. It comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage with support for expandable storage up to 256GB.

For photography, it comes with Leica co-engineered triple camera resides on the backside of the phone. It includes a f/1.8 aperture 40-megapixel angles, a f/2.2 aperture 20-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and a f/2.4 aperture and OIS enabled 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

On the front side, the handset features a 24-megapixel RGB selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. Housed inside the larger notch on top of the display, the camera sensors are paired with other sensors that are responsible for 3D face unlock feature.

The back of Huawei Mate 20 Pro back is made using a Hyper Optical Pattern which prevents fingerprints. Further, the phone comes with an IP68 rating, making it water and dust resistant. As for the fingerprint sensor, Huawei has adopted the latest technology and is offering in-display fingerprint scanner.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, dual-band Bluetooth v5.0, Bluetooth v5.0 LE with aptX, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port. It also comes with a dual speaker configuration, offering an immersive sound experience.

Running on Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.0, the phone is powered by a 4,200mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge fast charging technology. As per the company, it’s SuperCharge technology can charge the phone with 70 percent battery in just 30 minutes. It is also claimed to have the world’s fastest wireless charging technology and can also charge other devices as well.

A report that was published over an hour ago had revealed that the upcoming Vivo phone with dual displays could be called Vivo NEX Dual Screen. Freshly leaked information reveals that the Vivo NEX Dual Screen could be equipped with 10 GB of RAM. Another source has claimed that the phone may debut on Dec. 11 in Shanghai.

Kumamoto Technology has shared a new leaked photo that shows that the upcoming Vivo NEX Dual Screen smartphone will be the company’s first phone to arrive with 10 GB of RAM. This leak falls in line with earlier rumors that had claimed that Vivo would be launching a 10 GB RAM smartphone before the end of 2018. The leaked image also reveals that the Vivo NEX Dual Screen will feature 128 GB of internal storage.

The below shown leaked image seems to reveal the text from the press release for the launch event of the upcoming Vivo NEX Dual Screen phone launch. It states that the company had launched the Vivo NEX in June as the world’s first smartphone with full screen (notch-less) display. In pursuit of providing groundbreaking technologies through its NEX series, Vivo will be launching the Vivo NEX Dual Screen smartphone on Dec. 11 through an unveil event in Shanghai U+ Fashion Art Center.

Huawei Nova 4 with in-display front-facing camera to launch on December 17

Last week, Huawei teased an image on its Weibo account, suggesting that the Chinese company is all set to launch a smartphone with Infinity-O like display in December. While the phone, Nova 4 — successor of the Nova 3 — appeared in several leaks and concept renders, the exact launch date was not known.

However, the company has now posted another image on Weibo, revealing that the Huawei Nova 4 will be officially launched on 17th December.

The Huawei Nova 4 is confirmed to come with a display with ‘punch-hole’ cutout in the top-left corner for the front-facing camera. Because of this design, the phone is expected to have an impressive screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by the company’s own Kirin 980 octa-core chipset which is manufactured using 7nm process, claimed to be the world’s first mobile chipset to do so. This is the same processor that powers the Mate 20 series and the Honor Magic 2.

The phone is also expected to come with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Since no fingerprint sensor is visible on the front or back, it’s safe to assume that the phone will have an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Connectivity options on the device could include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB Type-C port. On the software front, we are expecting Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 out-of-the-box.

In the previous week, multiple sources suggested that Vivo may announce a dual screen smartphone like the Nubia X in December. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has officially confirmed some of the key features through a new teaser. Moreover, the official teaser also hints that the phone could be called Vivo NEX dual screen.

The Vivo NEX S and NEX A that came with marvelous full screen notch-less display and pop-up selfie camera was announced in June. Now the company is all set to launch a smartphone with dual displays. Through a new Weibo post, the upcoming Vivo NEX phone will offer a visual surprise, next level of photography and it will be an eye-catching icon,

Based on the recent reports, it can be assumed that the above GIF images hint that the Vivo NEX Dual Screen will be equipped with three exciting features such as dual displays, triple rear cameras and Lunar Ring. However, there is no information available on the sizes of the dual screens and configurations of the triple cameras. It is speculated that the third lens will be a ToF 3D camera sensor. And the Lunar Ring will be an eye-catching RGB-lit LED circle that may glow for notifications.

As far as selfie camera is concerned, it is unlikely to feature a pop-up front camera since the cameras present on the rear could be used for capturing selfies. The rear display will act as a viewfinder while shooting selfie shots.

A few months ago, Huawei announced the Enjoy 9 Plus (Huawei Y9 2018). Since there is a plus model, it is only normal that we expect it should have a non-Plus variant. A new leak has revealed the images and specifications of the non-plus model called the Enjoy 9 (DUB-AL00) and there is a chance its launch date is close.

The Huawei Enjoy 9 will have a notch like its Plus variant but its display is slightly smaller at 6.26 inches and also has a lower 720 x1520 resolution. It is powered by the Snapdragon 450 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There will also be a 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant. A MicroSD card slot will allow you to add up to an extra 512GB of storage.

Design

The reflective glass back makes the difference and makes the Huawei Honor 8X the most stunning handset. Another important feature which makes its aesthetics surprising is its screen-to-body ratio which is very close to 100 percent. I also like the minimal cutouts for its rear cameras and its very narrow chin.

Display

The displays found on these handsets offer an average view quality, they are nothing surprising, but they are more than sufficient if we consider their prices. The display of the Huawei Honor 8X is an added value because it has a larger diagonal of 6.5 inches that is currently very hard to find on a phone. If we exclude Honor 8X, I like Realme U1 more than Nokia X7 because of its less invasive waterdrop notch and the Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Specs & Software

While it is nothing surprising in terms of aesthetics and display, Nokia X7 is definitely the handset which gives most of the satisfaction when it comes to hardware and software. Indeed, it comes with the most powerful midrange SoC: the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 paired with up to 6 GB of RAM. Further, it is part of the Android One program, so it will receive faster updates thanks to Google’s official support. But note that it provides a stock user experience, while Realme U1 and Honor 8X have custom user interfaces.

Camera

I also like more the photos clicked from Nokia X7’s dual camera. It comes with Carl Zeiss optics, a bright f/1.8 aperture and even OIS for the dual rear setup. Realme U1 is the best when it comes to the front camera, thanks to its 25 MP unit and very efficient AI-backed features.

Battery

Huawei Honor 8X has the biggest battery, but there is only 250 mAh of difference and we are not sure that it will last more. Its opponents are both packed with a 3500 mAh battery but Nokia X7 is the only device of the trio to support a fast charging technology.

Realme U1 was launched in India with a starting price tag of €150, Nokia X7 debuted in China with a price of €250 and Honor 8X costs about €250 in the global market. With the actual prices, I would actually choose the Nokia X7 due to its high performance and amazing camera.
