Xiaomi has finally started pushing the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM update to Xiaomi Redmi 4A. The update is rolling out via OTA in a phased manner, users who can’t wait for OTA can download its official downloadable ROM from official Mi community forums. The new update will roll out to a broader audience after a couple of days if the phased rollout succeeds without any major bug. The MIUI 10 Global stable ROM for Redmi 4A carries significant changes and new features.

The new changes or features that have been incorporated in the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM V10.1.1.0.NCCMIFI are a new design, natural sound system, other sound optimizations, camera improvements and much more. Particularly, Xiaomi has optimized the MIUI 10 for full-screen devices and it let content to take the front seat. It gives more clarity to content rather than the several options of the device. It has cleared a lot of clutter from the main UI of the device.

Xiaomi has officially launched the 36notes Smart Handwritten Notepad under its Youpin crowdfunding platform. The device comes with a crowdfunding price tag of 249 yuan (~$36).

The 36 Smart Handwritten Notepad is a digital notebook which translates all your paper notes and drawings into digital content in a swift manner. The things that can be scribbled on the notepad varies from texts to sketches and drawings. After writing on the notepad, you can get the digital copy of whatever has been written with the press of a single button

Earlier details released shows the digital writing pad works using electromagnetic resonance technology which helps to produce the digital prints within a single button press. It constructs a stable and precise magnetic field on the bottom of the device. Former Oppo sub-brand Realme has today launched its latest smartphone in the Indian market — Realme U1. This is the first smartphone in the company’s new U-series of phones, focused on the selfie-centric users.

The smartphone, which is touted by the company as “India’s SelfiePro”, will be available for purchase in India through Amazon. It comes in three color options — Ambitious Black, Brave Blue, and Fiery Gold.

As for the pricing and availability, the 3GB RAM model is priced at Rs. 11,999 (~$170) while the 4GB RAM model costs Rs. 14,999 (~$212). It will go on sale from 5th December with a few offers from Reliance Jio, SBI Bank, and no-cost EMI option.

The phone comes with a shiny back with diffraction grading as the device has 13 layers of Laminated Technology, which the company calls Light Pillar Design.

The Realme U1 boasts a 6.3-inch Full HD+ dewdrop display with screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 90.8 percent screen-t0-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen offers 450 nits of brightness and 1500:1 contrast ratio.

It is the world’s first smartphone to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset. It is built by TSMC using their 12nm FinFET technology and features Cortex-A73 and Cortex A53 cores in the same 4+4 arrangement, coupled with ARM Mali-G72 GPU.

The phone comes in two memory configurations — 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot that enables users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB.

The highlight of the smartphone is the camera module. It features a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. It comes with AI Photography and AI Beautigy+ features for enhancing the photography experience.

It supports Studio Portrait Lighting, Super Vivid 2.0 and AI Scene Detection as well as slow-motion video recording feature. The company revealed that the slo-mo video will also be rolled out to Realme 2 Pro by the end of this year.

On the front side, the phone comes equipped with a 25-megapixel Sony IMX576 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and features like Smarter Groupfi for taking group selfies. It also supports AI Front Unlock feature that is claimed to unlock the phone in just 0.1 seconds.

Connectivity options on the device include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac dual-band (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. The phone is running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with ColorOS 5.2 on top and is powered by a 3,500mAh battery.

Along with the Realme U1, the company has also launched a couple of accessories. It has launched the Realme U1 Iconic Case protective cover and the Realme Buds earphones, both priced at Rs. 499 (approximately $7).

China-based Comio shuts down operations in India, Country CEO blames parent company

Comio, a China-based smartphone manufacturer, has shut down its operations in India effective immediately, just about a year later it started its operations in one of the largest smartphone markets in the world. The company has confirmed that it will seize to exist and close the entire operations by February 2019 after settling all pending issues.

Comio India has also filed a police complaint against its Chinese parent company Topwise Communications for closing its operations immediately without honoring the commitments and withdrawing their after-sales services.

The development comes to light after the Comio India CEO Sanjay Kalirona shared an email to all of their distribution channels stating that the company has been forced to shut down its India operations. He revealed that the company was forced down this path following lack of capital investment from the parent company.

Citing lack of support from the Chinese promoters and some personal reasons, Sanjay Kalirona announced that he had stepped down from the Board of the Company, though he continued to work as the CEO. He says that the Chinese management and himself decided to close Comio India operations and at the end of October and planned to settle all pending issues in the next three to four months.

He further adds that the company also decided to continue the after-sale service operations for another one year. However, he alleged that all the Chinese team members left India in the first week of November abruptly, and asked the team in India to shut down its operations immediately.

After the brand’s arrival in the Indian market last year, the company had projected to sell about one million units of Comio branded smartphones in India by March 2018. However, the company was able to sell almost nine lakh devices in its one-year journey.

Last year, in November, Comio had revealed that it is going to establish its India R&D operations and had also started assembling its smartphone models in the country locally and planned to strengthen. It was also planning to establish its brand presence with a network of 30,000 retailers, 800 distributors, and over 800 after-sales touch points.

The phone comes with a back panel that’s made from 15 layers what the company calls a “2.5D double texture aurora glass body with a grating effect.” The Honor 8X features a big 6.5-inch Full HD+ notched display with an impressive 91 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the company’s own Kirin 710 octa-core processor manufactured using the 12nm process. It comes in two variants based on memory configuration — 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot that enables you to further expand the phone’s storage capacity.

In the camera department, it features a 20-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor on the back, along with an LED flash and support for AI-based scene recognition that can identify up to 500 different scenes. On the front side, the device features a 16-megapixel snapper for taking selfies. It comes with 4-in-1 pixel binding to improve overall pixel size and has support for AI beautify features.

The phone also features a back-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security. Connectivity options on the device include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, and GPS + GLONASS. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with the company’s custom EMUI 8.2 interface on top and is powered by a 3,750mAh battery.

Xiaomi is finding doors to new markets; they are investing heavily in the AI(Artifical Intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things). They have built dedicated teams for the development of these new technologies. Recently, we have got news that they are building up new headquarters in Wuhan to do development and research on AI. Today, speaking at AIOT Developer Conference, Lei Jun has emphasized on the latest technologies.

Speaking to folks over at the Conference, Lei Jun explained the importance of AI and IoT along with their impact on the future. Further, he explained the strategic layout of the two core business of Xiaomi AI and IoT at the conference.

Xiaomi IKEA Partnership

As leaked, Xiaomi has partnered with IKEA, a furniture giant in the US. IKEA has partnered with Xiaomi to make smart homes, furniture, etc. Right Now, IKEA intelligent home lightning products are getting Xiaomi IoT platform in December. Currently, the details regarding the new cooperation have not yet surfaced, but we expect some details to surface before the day ends. Xiaomi has already invested in 220 companies via different crowdfunding platform out of them 100 are purely smart hardware-centric companies. Undoubtedly, this proves that Xiaomi is eager to invest in the AI and IoT technologies via different means.

The Chinese smartphone company has also sold more than 132 million devices incorporated with IoT technology in the third quarter, 2018. Due to the positive environment regarding new technologies and a good number of sales, many corporate houses have partnered with Xiaomi in the past. In the last quarter, Xiaomi raked 10.805 trillion yuan which is 89% percent increased compared to the previous year. It has led the company to gain 29 billion Yuan in the whole year until now.

Xiaomi has stood as the largest IoT platform in the world with sales of over 1.7% consumer goods. It is significantly double than to that of Apple’s 0.9%, Google’s 0.6% and Amazon’s 0.9%.
