Apple A10X Fusion AnTuTu Score Is Mind blowing

Apple’s latest A10X Fusion System-on-Chip which featured on the recently released iPad Pro was spotted on GeekBench database recently with an amazing multi-core score. The new A10X Fusion propelled the iPad Pro to score a whopping 9091 points on the multi-core test which is way over what the iPhone 7 Plus fueled by an Apple A10 chip. Just in case you are not convinced, AnTuTu has now revealed its own benchmark result for the iPad Pro and its A10 Fusion chip.

The A10X Fusion chip uses a different architecture from the A10. While the A10 Fusion uses a quad-core architecture, the A10X Fusion comes with an hexa-core architecture but the exact configuration of the cores is still unknown. Despite not knowing the cores, the A10X Fusion seems to have an edge due to the higher number of cores.

On the AnTuTu score, the A10X Fusion proves to be an extremely powerful chip as it surpassed the 200,000 mark. It precisely polled 234000 points on the single run sub-score. This is the first time an Apple chip is exceeding 200,000 points as the highest they have gotten is 180,000 back in May.Apple A10X Fuson AnTutu

The new chip Apple A10X Fusion overall performance advantage is also visible on the individual test score. On the 3D performance, Apple A10X Fusion reached 93546 points, approaching 100,000; mononuclear properties test produced a 21,280 points score, multi-core performance 19,941 points etc.

Samsung May Enter The Smart Speaker Race with A Bixby Speaker

Amazon started the smart speaker race with the Echo. It later released the Echo Dot and Tap. All three are powered by Amazon’s smart Assistant, Alexa. Google joined the smart speaker race with the Home last year and Apple announced the Siri-powered HomePod this week. A report by the Korea Herald says Samsung is working on its own speaker that will be powered by Bixby.

Bixby

Bixby is Samsung’s AI assistant that debuted on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ this year. It even has a dedicated button on both phones. Bixby is still not available globally. It is still limited to Samsung’s home country and won’t make it to the US until later due to some issues.

The news of a Bixby speaker isn’t surprising. Samsung and Apple are rivals and just minutes after the HomePod launched, tweets were already flying round about Samsung doing the same.

Apple’s Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing says the HomePod will reinvent how we enjoy music just like the iPod did. While there have been jokes made about the design, it remains to be seen if the HomePod lives up to expectation in terms of performance when it goes on sale in December.

Samsung is no slouch either, we presume the speaker will also pack some impressive audio power when it launches. If you remember, it acquired audio giant Harman this year for a record $8B. Harman is the parent company of AKG, Harman Kardon, JBL, and Infinity to name a few.

The Korea Herald says Samsung has already been granted design patents for a standalone audio device. Now all we await is a launch date.

Xiaomi Mi 5 MIUI New Update Improves Fluidity & CPU Allocation

Xiaomi Mi 5 could be termed one of Xiaomi‘s old guards now due to the successors it has got. The 2015 flagship first got the Mi 5S and 5S Plus upgraded version and then recenty the stunning Mi 6 was launched. But the device is still one of Xiaomi’s best-selling Mi series models and that being so is still entitled to get regular upgrades. Besides, Xiaomi doesn’t forget its old guards. The has now gotten an upgrade to the latest MIUI 8.5.2.0 version China Stable ROM.xiaomi mi 5

The MIUI 8.5.2.0 upgrade brings in a host of features and fixes several bugs that were plaguing the software on the model. Despite the large-scale upgrade and numerous fixes, some users still complain of a few bugs that weren’t covered by the new update. Among the new update is a  smarter and more efficient CPU allocation strategy. The update also comes with optimization of certain features which would make the phone more fun to use.

Nubia Z17 vs Huawei P10 vs Xiaomi Mi 6 Low Light Camera Performance Comparison: Guess Who Wins?

Nubia Z17’s entry into the smartphone market brought yet another dual camera choice for us customers. But having so many flagships feature a similar dual camera setup could end up being confusing for all of us. These are flagship models, which means their camera quality would be pretty good by default. This is particularly evident in the pictures taken in daylight wherein most 2017 flagship cameras would do a great job of getting detailed, clear and focused shots. But things are a bit different when it comes to low light images. The same flagships who did well in the daytime may not perform as well as we would expect at night, which is why it makes sense to see which brand has optimized their cameras for the best images, including in low-light environment. And while playing around with the newly announced Nubia Z17 (hands on here!), I was quite surprised to see a stark difference in the low-light image quality from the Z17 as compared to the Huawei P10 and Xiaomi Mi 6 models.

Nubia Z17 Hands on (5)

First up, Nubia is known for its stellar camera quality and its Neovision software. The company’s phones have managed to take pretty good pictures in the past and the same continues with the Z17. We will definitely bring a comparison of the Nubia Z17 vs Huawei P10 vs Xiaomi Mi 6 camera performance in daylight (most likely by today evening) but first, let us check out how these three smartphones perform in low-light situations. So, we are comparing these three flagships from top brands in China to see which one has better low-light images.

z17-p10-mi6
Left to Right: Nubia Z17 vs Huawei P10 vs Mi 6

So, look at this image. The leftmost sample is from the Nubia 17 (also evident from the watermark) and at the center is the Huawei P10 sample and on the right lies the Mi 6 sample. The Nubia Z17 clearly takes the more vibrant and brighter image of the three. P10’s sample looks warmer and the colors are good while the Mi 6’s sample looks pretty dull. Out of the three, I would clearly select Z17’s sample as the best because of its clarity and light. The green leaves are a bit better on the P10, but still, the best overall picture has to be the Z17’s sample. You can further see Nubia Z17’s stellar performance in low light in the samples down below. I’m actually quite impressed with Nubia’s dual cameras.

In some instances, the Huawei P10 does take better images (more color and less noise). For example, in the image of the doll down below, the colors are better on the P10 and the noise is limited as well.

Check out the low-light images below and let me know which phone do you think is the best.

Just a few days after Xiaomi announced a blue variant for its Redmi Note 4X, Nokia does the same for the Nokia 6.

The new blue variant isn’t entirely new. Back when Nokia launched the Nokia 6 in February it was revealed in four colors: a black variant, an Arte Black Limited Edition with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, a tempered blue variant, and a copper colored model.

Nokia 6 Blue Edition

However, only the black was available for purchase at first. Then it announced a new silver variant too which is also available for purchase. Now its adding the tempered blue variant to the lineup.

Unlike the black and silver variants that are available in 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB configurations, the new blue version is only available with the latter configuration. It will sell for  ¥1699(~$250) on JD.com and will be available starting June 18. You can pre-order here.

Google Pixel 2 Render Appears with Higher Screen-to-Body Ratio, Dual Rear Cameras

A leaked render of the Google Pixel 2 has appeared to reveal its design and new features. The size of the image is small, but it reveals what to expect from the Pixel 2 that is pegged to launch in October this year.

The design of the Pixel 2 shown in the leaked render appears very similar to the Google Pixel and Pixel XL  smartphones from 2016. The back panel has a two-tone design which is also available on the original Pixel phones. The top portion is in black whereas the other part has a matte finish.

There are two interesting things about the Google Pixel 2 render. The first one is that the rear panel has a dual rear camera featuring sitting at the top left corner with a prominent LED flash. Compared to the original Pixel phone, the Pixel 2 render suggests that it will be coming with a higher screen-to-body ratio.

Google Pixel XL 2 render

It cannot be confirmed whether the Pixel 2 render is legitimate as it appears to be created by a fan after considering currently popular features like higher screen-to-body ratio display and dual rear cameras. The Pixel 2 render appears similar to the original phone, but Google has never sold a phone that feature the same design as the predecessor model. Since Google Pixel is technically the first “made by Google” and its industrial has been provided by Google, there is a possibility that the Pixel 2 may retain the same design.

As far as the specifications of the Google Pixel 2 is concerned, it is rumored to be powered by Snapdragon 836 chipset, an upgraded version of Snapdragon 835. The dual rear camera setup is rumored to include a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor. And of course, it is expected to come loaded with Android O. The back panel also seems to feature a fingerprint scanner.

There is a possibility that Google may introduce dual rear cameras on Pixel 2 because by the time it arrives, there will be couple of popular flagships with dual rear cameras such as the next generation iPhone, Galaxy Note 8, LG V30 and OnePlus 5. Google is expected to follow an annual launch cycle by releasing the Pixel 2 in October as the original Pixel and Pixel XL were launched in October 2016. The Pixel 2 is also expected to arrive with an expensive price tag compared to original model.

Samsung Rumored To Have Developed Its Own GPU Named S-GPU

Samsung spends a lot on research and development. Some even say no phone maker spends as much as it does. A few years ago it was rumored that Samsung was working on its own GPU which would show up in its flagship phones this year or next.

Samsung S-GPU

Although Samsung wasn’t able to achieve that with the Galaxy S8, new info says that it has now developed the GPU which is called S-GPU. S-GPU is rumored to appear in next year’s flagship processor. The info comes from leakster @IceUniverse who posted it on Weibo.

Samsung already makes its own custom cores for the Exynos chipsets. The Exynos 8895 present in the Galaxy S8 and S8+ for instance is made up of four 2nd gen custom CPU cores and four power efficient Cortex-A53 cores. Samsung licensed the ARMv8 ISA from ARM to design and build the micro-architecture for the custom cores from scratch.

While no details have not been provided yet about S-GPU, it was mentioned last year that NVIDIA and AMD are two companies that have mobile graphics IP Samsung could license. NVIDIA makes one of the best GPUs and that is evident from its SHIELD Tablet and SHIELD TV.

The Chuwi Hi-Dock Doubles As A Multi-Port Charger and Docking Station

The average individual has at least two electronic devices that need to be charged. Some have more and that means multiple chargers. It’s a pain having to carry so many chargers around, that’s why we now have chargers with multiple ports. One charger to rule them all sort of. The Chuwi Hi-Dock is a multi-port charger too but it also adds a much needed function, a dock.

Chuwi Hi-Dock

The Chuwi Hi-Dock has four ports, one of which is a Quick Charge 3.0 port and the other three are 5V/2.4A ports. Each port has a plastic flap that covers it. When you raise the flap, it can serve as a dock that holds your phone or tablet while charging. It is a neat addition and will come in handy when you are charging and watching a video at the same time.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in Blue Coral Spotted; Rumored to Launch at August End

A new leaked image of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 showing off itself in Blue Coral color has appeared. It appears to be the same Blue Coral edition that Samsung had introduced with Galaxy Note 7.

Critics and users of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have stated that the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that is placed on the left side of the camera is not user-friendly. It is said that Samsung wanted to place the fingerprint scanner under the display of the Galaxy S8, but since it could not be time, the company ended up placing it on the backside of the phone.

The freshly leaked render of the Galaxy Note 8 shows that the fingerprint scanner is not present on its backside. This indicates that Samsung may have probably resolve the issue and the Note 8 may feature the fingerprint sensor under its screen.

The dual camera setup which is pegged to be one of the USPs of the Galaxy Note 8 can be seen on the back panel. It is designed in a vertical manner and below it is the alleged heart rate sensor and a LED flash. Apart from the missing fingerprint reader from the back, the overall design of the phablet seems to resemble the Galaxy S8 duo. The left side of the Note 8 seems to feature the volume buttons and the Power key. A dedicated Bixby AI button can be seen on the right edge of the phablet.

The Blue Coral variant was a very popular color option for Galaxy Note 7. After the phablet’s premature death, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S7 Edge with the same color. Fresh leaks suggest that Samsung would be introducing the Blue Coral option for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Speculations have it that the Galaxy Note 8 would be coming with a 6.3-inch display that will support an aspect ratio of 9:18.5

According to a Korean publication, Samsung may announce the Galaxy Note 8 in late August which means that it will be launching ahead of iPhone 8 that is pegged get unveiled in September. Other rumors have stated the Galaxy Note 8 will be announced a day or two before the IFA 2017 event that is scheduled to start from Sept. 1.

OnePlus 5 Camera’s Night Shot Exposed & It’s Impressive

OnePlus CEO Liu Zuotu has again posted another evidence that projects his company’s upcoming flagship model. This time around, the CEO shared a single shot which he claimed in the night shot of the OnePlus 5 camera. Evidently, the photo was indeed captured in the night and the level of clarity is just superb for a smartphone camera’s shot.

The OnePlus 5 camera has been the subject of numerous teasers which points at a powerful setup. Even recently, the company selected 10 reviewers that would test the camera before the device is launched. We have only been able to spot just one user on Weibo who uses the OnePlus 5 and he claimed in a recent post that the camera is indeed powerful, drawing a comparison with that of the Galaxy S8.

The OnePlus 5 camera is expected to be dual sensors, though. That has been confirmed severally, both in leaked renders including the leaked box casing for the device which has it written on the body. Also, recently spotted camera samples that were reportedly captured by the OnePlus 5 points at a dual camera feature. One of the images came out as a black and white shot which indicates that OnePlus 5 may come with dual cameras and one of its lenses will be able to capture images in monochrome. The presence of a monochrome sensor in a dual rear camera module can assist in detecting lighting conditions in a better way. Hence, it will be able to shoot accurate photos just as we can see on this leaked night photo. The night sky maintains its darkness and yet the camera was still able to pick the tiny stars and capture the building and shadows with an impressively high level of contrast and clarity. OnePlus 5 Likely to Cost 550 Euros, Pricing Hinted Through OnePlus Contest

OnePlus has already confirmed that the OnePlus 5 would be unveiling on June 20. Like OnePlus has done for its predecessor smartphones, it is building hype around OnePlus 5 by consistently releasing teasers. The company has added a new post on the official OnePlus forums that talks about a contest for a yearly music festival in Finland. The rules of the contest that has been posted on Facebook has given out a clue on the pricing of the OnePlus 5 for Finland and/or other European regions.

When such kind of contest is posted, the company is required to mention the value of the prizes that will be awarded to the contestants. The grand prize of this contest is a OnePlus 5 smartphone as well as two VIP passes for a three-day event of the annual music festival. The total value of these prizes is €948 (~$1,067).

Assuming that this value is the total cost of OnePlus 5 and VIP passes, each VIP pass is priced at €199 (~$224). So, two VIP tickets costs €398 (~$448). So, by subtracting €398 from the total value of €948, gives us €550 (~$619) which could be the retail value of the OnePlus 5.

It has been previously rumored that the OnePlus 5 would be coming with costlier price tag than the OnePlus 3T. In Finland, the OnePlus 3T is priced at €438 (~$493). The 64 GB and 128 GB models of OnePlus 3T are respectively priced at $439 and $479 in the U.S. Going by the hints coming from the new contest for Finland, it seems that OnePlus 5’s price may cross $500 mark.

Previous speculations have revealed that the 64 GB and 128 GB models of OnePlus 5 may respectively be priced around $449 and $499. Fresh speculations suggest that the OnePlus 5 would also arriving in an 8 GB RAM version. The inclusion of 8 GB RAM indicates that OnePlus 5 would be coming with an expensive price tag. The presence of a dual rear camera system that has been through a recent press render of OnePlus 5 will also add on it its cost.

OnePlus has been always known for selling flagship killer phones with very affordable pricing. Would you consider buying OnePlus 5, if arrives with $100 more pricing than OnePlus 3T? Share your thoughts by adding your comments.

New iPad Model Hits Geekbench With An Amazing 9K+ Multi-core Score, Apple A10X Fusion?

A new Apple iPad model has appeared on Geekbench database, with a surprisingly powerful benchmark scores. The new iPad model is believed to feature the Apple A10X Fusion System-on-Chip (SoC) because that is perhaps the only thing that can justify the amazing test score posted by the device, especially in the multi-core test. Apple A10x chip

The Apple iPad model, which could be the iPad Pro, polled a total of 3832 points in the single core test but on the multi-core test, it scored an amazing 9091 points. This is a huge flight from the multi-test score of the Apple A10 chip featured on the iPhone 7 Plus which rallied around 5k points on Geekbench.

The Geekbench listing also reveals the processor is clocked at 2.36GHz, higher than the 2.23GHz frequency the iPhone  7 Plus’ A10 chip ran. Apple has already unveiled the A10X Fusion chip and rightly reveals that it features 3 high-performance cores. The motherboard also points at the likelihood of this being a new chip as the model number is different from that of the A10. Apple had claimed that the tablet would have 40 percent faster graphics performance than its predecessors due to the powerful Apple A10X Fusion chip. With this benchmark result, that may just be a credible assertion.

Qualcomm’s Flagship Chip for H2 2017 Could Be Snapdragon 836

There are indications that Qualcomm has got a new flagship chip in the works and this isn’t the Snapdragon 845 which is rumoured to debut next year. The U.S. chip maker is said to be working on the Snapdragon 836 chip which is just a revised version of the present Snapdragon 835. This won’t be the first time, as there is a precedence. Qualcomm’s 2016 flagship Snapdragon 820 chip received a slight upgrade from its quad-core architecture, thus giving birth to a higher clocked quad-core Snapdragon 821. The Snapdragon 821 will later go on to power a number of flagship devices like the LG G6, HTC U Ultra, Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

Snapdragon 836

While rumors of a Snapdragon 836 chip has festered for a while now, details have been quite sketchy but a Weibo tipster has revealed that the flagship chip may be launched in the second half of this year. There is even a speculation that it may be featured on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The new chip may also feature on the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

The announcement shows that the new version will be released earlier compared to Nougat last year. It also hints at a possible official unveiling in the coming weeks, most likely in July. So we can probably start guessing what the name will be. Oreo please!

A few manufacturers have announced which of their devices will be getting the update. Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Ulefone says the Power 2 will get the update before the end of the year. Last week, OnePlus announced the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will also get the update. HMD Global also revealed that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 7 will also get updated.

New Moto XT1797 Phone With Mid-Range Specs Passes Through FCC

A Motorola phone with model number XT1797 was seen getting certified by the FCC. Details available on the FCC documents points to a phone with mid-range specs.

Moto XT1797

The Moto XT1797 has a 5.5-inch display and is powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8937 mobile platform a.k.a Snapdragon 430. This is the same chip in the Moto G5. There is a 3000mAh battery powering the phone and it has support for Motorola’s TurboPower™ charge.

The phone runs Android 7.1.1, has dual SIM support, dual WiFi bands and even NFC. While there is no mention of the camera configuration, there is a likelihood this is a phone in the Moto G series, possibly the Moto G5S.

Recently we saw the Moto G5S Plus and it sports the same Snapdragon 625 processor as the Moto G5. The new additions are dual rear cameras, a larger display, full metal chassis, and a front flash.

So if this phone has the same chip as the Moto G5, it isn’t strange since the G5S Plus and G5 Plus  have the same chip too. The only conflicting factor is the display of the Moto XT1797 which the source says is 5.5-inches. The leaked image showing Motorola’s remaining line-up for the year lists the Moto G5S as having a 5.2-inch FHD display.
