  3. Red Magic 10 Pro+ (Snapdragon 8 Elite) – 2,868,701 points

  5. iQOO Neo10 Pro (Dimensity 9400) – 2,836,633 points

  10. Honor Magic 7 Pro (Snapdragon 8 Elite) – 2,684,156 points

Ranking Methodology

AnTuTu ranks devices based on those that complete at least 1,000 valid test runs per month. It evaluates a device’s hardware performance by running a series of tests on the CPU, GPU, memory, and storage. These tests simulate real-world tasks and applications to measure the device’s efficiency under various conditions. However, it’s important to note that an AnTuTu score is not an absolute measure of a smartphone’s overall performance, as factors like display quality, camera capabilities, battery life, and software optimization are not accounted for in the benchmark.

In other news, the upcoming Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition, which is expected to be a more affordable, performance-focused version of the GT 7 Pro, has reportedly achieved an impressive AnTuTu score of 3,063,313 points. However, this score is likely an ideal result under optimal conditions, and its average performance might align more closely with devices like the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro.

iPhone 7/Plus audio scandal ends with up to $350 compensation

The long-running saga surrounding the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus “Loop Disease” issue is finally coming to an end with compensation to the users. Former owners of these devices are now receiving settlement payment of up to $350, which, of course, is part of the $35 million class action lawsuit.

The issue and the settlement

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were widely praised when they launched in 2016 and 2017. However, some users experienced a problem dubbed “Loop Disease.” This issue, allegedly caused by applying pressure on a specific part of the phone, led to degraded audio quality. Not to mention, it affected the calling experience of the smartphone as well.

A class action lawsuit was filed years ago. After being approved last year, the compensation is finally reaching the users who participated in the class action lawsuit. Most claimants are receiving around $200. Although users who paid for repairs related to that issue could get up to $350.

Apple agreed to the $35 million settlement without admitting any wrongdoing or liability. The deadline to join the lawsuit passed last summer. So only those who filed claims by then are eligible for the compensation.

While the settlement provides some relief for affected customers, the bulk of the $35 million fund, as reported by 9to5Mac, will go to the attorneys who brought the case forward. Still, for former iPhone 7 users, receiving a few hundred dollars in 2025 is a welcome resolution to a frustrating issue.

This isn’t the first time Apple has faced a class action lawsuit though. Last fall, customers who owned MacBooks with problematic butterfly keyboards began receiving payments as part of a separate settlement.

Nikon launches Coolpix P1100 with 125x optical and 600x digital zoom

Nikon has introduced the Coolpix P1100, a successor to the P1000 in its super-zoom bridge camera lineup. Known for pushing the boundaries of zoom capabilities, the P1100 retains the impressive 125x optical zoom that made its predecessor stand out, but Nikon has added a few new features to make the deal more enticing.

Familiar Form Factor with Incredible Reach

The Coolpix P1100 comes with a 24-3000mm (35mm equivalent) zoom lens, packed into a 3.1-pound (1,410-gram) body. While the 16.79-megapixel sensor is physically small (type 1/2.3), it allows for the extensive zoom range. The floating aperture starts at f/2.8 and closes at f/8 at the telephoto end.

If 3000mm isn’t enough, the camera supports a digital zoom feature that extends the reach to an equivalent of 12000mm or 600x zoom. Of course, using digital zoom comes at the expense of image quality.

To combat handshakes and provide sharper images, Nikon has equipped the lens with Dual Detect Optical VR, promising vibration reduction equivalent to 4.0 stops at the frame’s center.

Hardware and Features

The P1100 supports 4K video recording at up to 30p, offers a 3.2-inch vari-angle LCD, and includes timelapse functionality. It also supports clean HDMI output for those who want to connect to external displays or recorders.

Eagle-eyed enthusiasts might notice that much of this hardware remains unchanged from the P1000, which launched back in 2018. Still, Nikon has added a few thoughtful upgrades.

New Features for Niche Photography

Nikon clearly has bird watchers in mind with this release. The P1100 introduces a Bird Watching Mode with a selectable AF-area function. This feature lets users assign camera functions to the Fn1/Fn2 buttons on the optional ML-L7 Remote Control, allowing for easier adjustments during shoots.

Another addition is the Fireworks Mode, designed to reduce blown-out highlights during long-exposure captures. On the connectivity side, Nikon has finally adopted the USB-C port for input/output, replacing the older micro-USB port.

Nikon Coolpix P1100 Pricing and Availability

The Coolpix P1100 carries a slightly higher price tag than its predecessor. While the P1000 debuted at $1,000, the P1100 will retail for $1,099.95 and is expected to hit shelves in late February.

Vivo X200 Ultra camera specs leak reveals 1.5x zoom as default main camera setting

Chinese smartphone brands are preparing to launch their latest “Ultra” flagship models in the coming days. Xiaomi is expected to unveil the 15 Ultra by the end of February, followed by Oppo’s Find X8 Ultra in March. Vivo will also introduce its high-end contender, the X200 Ultra, in Q2, possibly in April. In a recent Weibo post, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station claimed to have used the X200 Ultra firsthand and shared key insights into its design and hardware.

Vivo X200 Ultra key specifications leaked

Vivo X200 Ultra leak by DCS

According to DCS, the Vivo X200 Ultra will feature a 6.8-inch 2K LTPO OLED display with minimal bezels and slightly curved edges. On the back, it will house a circular camera island equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

The leak further states that the main camera of the X200 Ultra’s engineering prototype has a 1.5x zoom (35mm equivalent) by default and the ultra-wide lens at 1x instead of 0.5x or 0.6x. Under the hood, the X200 Ultra is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, setting it apart from the standard X200 and X200 Pro, which are expected to feature the Dimensity 9400.

The device could pack a 6,000mAh battery, supporting 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. It is rumored to launch in black and silver colour options. The device will run on Funtouch OS 15-based Android 15.

In related news, Vivo may launch the Vivo X200S alongside the X200 Ultra. The X200S may debut with the Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset. It is expected to feature a flat display with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, and colour options like black, white, titanium, and blue. Additionally, the brand is also expected to announce the X200 Pro Mini in a new purple version.

Galaxy S25 Ultra loses to S25+ in battery life test

YouTube creator Android Addicts tested the battery life of all Galaxy S25 models side-by-side with last year’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, and the results are not only impressive but also a bit surprising. The Plus model with a 100mAh lower capacity managed to last longer than the Ultra model.

But first off, let’s get to the basics first. The creator tested the phones with regular tasks such as scrolling through Twitter, and Instagram, watching movies, standby, and running some benchmarks to simulate heavy workloads and gaming for about 40 minutes.

Galaxy S25 series brings a major improvement in battery life over its predecessors

The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra packs a 4000mAh, 4900mAh, 5000mAh battery respectively. Last year’s Galaxy S24 Ultra also has a 5000mAh battery. At the beginning of the test, all the phones were tested with Geekbench, where the S25 models scored almost the same.

It suggests Samsung isn’t taking a conservative approach towards the performance of the smaller models. And the new chip also proves its presence inside with much higher scores as compared to the S24 Ultra, so all of them will possibly continue to perform better, hence perform more calculations, during demanding tasks such as GPU benchmark going forward.

Let’s get to the results. The Galaxy S24 Ultra lasted for 8 hours and 33 minutes. The Galaxy S25 (with just 4000mAh battery) kept running until 11 hours 21 minutes through the test. However, it’s important to note that the base model dropped its brightness by quite a bit during the last 81 minutes.

Here comes the surprise: the Galaxy S25 Ultra dies before the Plus model at the 13h 02m mark, 15 minutes before the Galaxy S25 Plus. The Plus model outperforms the Ultra likely thanks to the slightly smaller display – 6.7 inches as compared to 6.9. Other aspects such as the performance, display resolution, and brightness were all very similar between the two. In summary, this is a major improvement in battery life, and it’s surprising because the capacity underneath is the same this year.

Notably, you cannot compare the numbers of this particular test with others as the numbers are dependent on the format of the test, which is likely going to be different.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s latest leaked image showcases amazing Leica camera-inspired dual-tone design

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set to debut at the end of this month in China. With the launch approaching, the rumour mill is expected to reveal concrete details about the device. A new image of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, inspired by Leica cameras, has surfaced on Chinese social media platforms today. It showcases an interesting dual-tone design, evoking the feel of a professional photography experience.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra shown in the image above appears to be inspired by the design of the Leica M1 rangefinder camera. Like the Leica camera, the 15 Ultra features a stunning silver-black dual-tone finish, likely made of glass and leather.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra features a massive round camera module occupying almost the entire top half of the device. It houses a pill-shaped LED flash, a Leica logo, and four cameras, including a periscope telephoto camera. Considering that the device may pack a 6,000mAh battery, its weight could be well above 200 grams.

The fine text below the Leica branding, which reads “LEICA VARIO-SUMMILUX 1:1.63-26/14-100 ASPH,” gives a fair idea of the camera capabilities of the 15 Ultra. The Xiaomi flagship features a Leica Summilux lens with a main camera aperture of f/1.63, the same as its predecessor, mentions tipster Experience More.

The periscope telephoto lens has an f/2.6 aperture, a 100mm equivalent focal length, an effective aperture of f/9.828, and a physical focal length of 26.4mm—comparable to Samsung’s previous 10x zoom implementation. The ultra-wide-angle lens has a 14mm focal length, making it slightly narrower than the previous generation.

For reference, Vivo’s equivalent aperture is f/10.09 with a 22.49mm focal length, while the industry’s largest equivalent aperture for a telephoto lens belongs to Honor at f/7.1.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to debut with the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra car on Feb. 28 in China.

Samsung’s Galaxy A36 5G and A56 5G inch closer to release as they bag GCF certification

The Samsung Galaxy A36 5G and A56 5G have taken another step towards their anticipated release as both devices recently received certification from the Global Certification Forum (GCF).

The phones, bearing model numbers SM-A366B/DS and SM-A366B for the A36 5G, and SM-A566B/DS and SM-A566B for the A56 5G, are confirmed to support a range of network technologies, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G. The GCF listing also suggests that both handsets will include NFC support, a standard feature for contactless payments and other interactions.

The A56 5G, in particular, has been making the rounds in certification circles. Prior to the GCF approval, it appeared on the FCC, SIRIM, TUV Rheinland, MIIT, TENAA, 3C, EMVCo, BIS, and Geekbench databases.

What can you expect?

According to previous reports, the Galaxy A56 will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1580 processor, reportedly clocked at 2.91 GHz, and incorporating the Xclipse 540 GPU. Android 15, layered with One UI 7, is expected to be the operating system.

Moreover, the phone could offer 8GB of RAM as the base, a triple rear camera setup, a 12MP front-facing camera, and a 4,905 mAh battery with 45W fast charging capabilities.

The A36 5G, while less extensively leaked, has also surfaced in various certifications. It has been spotted at TUV Rheinland and Geekbench, suggesting an impending launch.

It is rumored to come with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, 6GB of RAM, a 50MP triple rear camera system, and a 12MP selfie camera.

Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed launch dates for its upcoming A-series phones, but reports suggest they could debut in mid-March. Before that, the company might introduce the Galaxy F16, which has already entered its pre-launch teaser phase. The Galaxy A36 and A56 are likely to follow shortly after.

Samsung redesigns Home Up for One UI 7: Here’s everything you need to know

Samsung has officially rolled out a major update to its Home Up module within the Good Lock suite, bringing a fresh UI and an extensive set of customization features for the upcoming One UI 7. The update enhances the home screen experience with greater flexibility, smoother animations, and advanced gesture controls. Users looking to fine-tune every aspect of their home screen now have access to a wealth of new tools designed to offer a more personalized experience.

Samsung Home Up

The updated Home Up app is available for download via the Galaxy Store or APK Mirror, with version 16.0.00.56 currently rolling out. However, its availability remains inconsistent across devices.

1. Refreshed UI & Customization Options

The latest version of Home Up sports a redesigned interface that aligns with Samsung’s One UI 7 aesthetics. The refreshed look makes navigation more intuitive, ensuring users can quickly access various features. It comes with the new DIY Home Screen function, offering complete freedom over icon placement, widgets, and even stickers. It also sports customizable layouts, including 7×7 and 4×4 grids, and equips users with the ability to rotate icons for a more personalized look.

Samsung has also refined folder customization. Users can dynamically adjust folder sizes, making them more compact or expanding them to fit more apps. The update has included Background Blur Control, allowing users to adjust or completely remove the blur effect.

2. Home Screen & Gesture Enhancements

The Home Up update sports a new layer of customization for animations, addressing long-standing complaints about One UI’s default transitions. It features a dedicated section for tuning home screen animations, offering preset modes such as Classic, Dynamic, Elegance, and Sweet, each with a distinct animation speed and feel.

For those who prefer more control, it comes with an Advanced Tuning menu that equips users with options to adjust parameters like damping, stiffness, friction, and interpolator settings. These fine-tuned adjustments result in a significantly smoother and more responsive animation experience.

Samsung has also expanded gesture controls. The update lets users tweak multi-finger gestures, adjust home screen transitions, and fine-tune UI response times. These enhancements result in a more fluid navigation experience, with animations reacting precisely to user input.

3. Edge Panel & Task Changer Improvements

The Edge Panel has received significant upgrades, making it more versatile. Users can now expand its grid size to accommodate more apps, access a scrolling list of recent apps, and ensure the panel remains visible in immersive mode, such as when watching videos. These changes streamline multitasking by reducing the number of steps needed to access frequently used apps.

Task Changer, a fan-favorite feature that was absent in previous updates, has returned with multiple layout options. Users can now switch between Grid, Vertical List, Slim List, and Mini Mode for viewing recently opened apps. The Mini Mode is particularly useful for one-handed operation, allowing users to quickly cycle through apps without stretching their fingers across the screen.

4. Final Thoughts

Samsung’s revamped Home Up module is a significant upgrade, bringing an unmatched level of customization to One UI 7. The combination of DIY home screen tools, gesture fine-tuning, improved multitasking options, and animation controls ensures that every user can tailor their experience to their exact preferences.

While some features may still have minor bugs, this update lays a strong foundation for future refinements. For those seeking the ultimate personalized smartphone experience, Home Up is an essential download.

Motorola enters the top three in Japan’s smartphone market for the first time

Motorola aims to become the third-largest smartphone maker outside China within three years, we reported last year. Now, according to a report from market research firm TechInsights, the brand has ranked third in the Japanese smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2024. Motorola budget and mid-range devices have attracted significant attention lately

According to the report (via ITHome), the acquisition of Japanese smartphone giant FCNT and the launch of new products at the end of 2024 have played a crucial role in this achievement. Either way, it’s good to see Motorola doing well in its business without adding bloatware or cutting costs on hardware.

The company has emerged as a tough competition to the other Chinese brands with its rare combination of more than capable hardware and clean UI experience. While there is still room for improvement on both fronts, the brand has attracted a lot of attention in the last couple of years with its different approach. Speaking of the ranking, Apple and Google appear in the first and second positions.

Motorola launched two FNCT arrow-branded smartphones alongside the Moto G64 and Edge 50S Pro, all of which performed well in the country and paved the way to become the third-largest smartphone brand in the period in Japan.

For users outside the country, Motorola has to offer the mid-range Moto Edge 50 Pro, the more premium flip style Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra (known as Motorola Razr+ in the US), or the affordable G series. For those unfamiliar with Motorola’s recent offerings, check out this super affordable Moto G05. You will get to see a part of the reason behind the brand’s recent success.

The Switch 2 Direct is official—Nintendo confirms the date and time

Nintendo has officially announced that its highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will take place on April 2, 2025, at 6 a.m. PST. This presentation is expected to provide a deeper look into the upcoming console, following its initial reveal in January.

Nintendo Switch 2 Direct

The Switch 2 marks eight years since the launch of the original Switch, and while Nintendo has kept many details under wraps, recent leaks and teasers have given fans a glimpse of what to expect. The new console reportedly retains the hybrid design of its predecessor but features a larger 8-inch display, an upgrade from the original 6.2-inch screen. While the screen type hasn’t been revealed, an OLED upgrade is possible, and 1080p resolution may replace the existing 720p.

The Joy-Con controllers have also undergone notable changes, including a revised attachment mechanism that replaces the sliding rail system with a magnetic connection, making them easier to detach. The kickstand is now wider and fully adjustable, similar to the Switch OLED model.

Nintendo Switch 2

Another key upgrade is the inclusion of an optical sensor on the side of the Joy-Con, which could enable a ‘mouse mode’ feature, potentially expanding gameplay possibilities. A second USB-C port has also been spotted, likely for improved peripheral support and charging. Additionally, Nintendo appears to have addressed one of the biggest complaints about the original Joy-Con, the notorious joystick drift, by upgrading to Hall effect sensors for improved durability and precision.

While Nintendo has yet to confirm the full hardware specifications, rumors suggest the Switch 2 will be powered by an Nvidia Tegra processor built on Samsung’s 8nm process. The upcoming Direct is also expected to shed light on the launch lineup of games, with strong speculation that a new Mario Kart installment will be among the first titles.

The biggest remaining questions revolve around the console’s performance capabilities, the purpose of a mysterious new Joy-Con button, and whether the device will support new connectivity options. Tipsters and some retailers predict the Switch 2 will be priced around $400. With the launch expected between June and September, April’s Nintendo Direct should finally provide much-needed answers.

New Snapdragon X chip powered laptops launching in India this month

Qualcomm recently announced its latest Snapdragon X platform that will power upcoming Windows PCs. Now, we finally have a date when this new processor will launch in the Indian market. This is the third entry in the lineup, so here’s what we know.

Snapdragon X drops on February 24

To recall, the chipmaking giant expanded its Snapdragon X lineup with the new Snapdragon X. This is the base model in the series, being an entry level SoC alongside its already popular Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite processors. With this chipset, Qualcomm aimed on better penetrating a wider range of laptops in the market. The Snapdragon X was made to target both the budget friendly and mid range options.

Snapdragon X chip powered PCs
Snapdragon X chip powered PCs

In one of its official teaser posters, the brand announced that the new Snapdragon X platform for AI PCs will be launching in the Indian market on 24th February 2025. This processor was first announced for Windows PCs for laptops from brands like Acer, ASUS, HP, Dell, and Lenovo which cost under $600. But unfortunately, it is still unclear which laptop model will feature this new budget AI chip in India.

Based on the earlier release, the Snapdragon X features eight CPU cores clocked at up to 3.0GHz. It has a total memory cache of 30MB and is based on the ARM architecture, just like its elder siblings. The Snapdragon X features an Adreno GPU that can deliver up to 1.7 TFLOPS, which is sufficient for light gaming, older titles, and other common tasks. However, one of its main advantages is the dedicated NPU that outputs 45 TOPS of AI performance, making it compatible with Copilot+ features. So this new chip could offer a breath of fresh air in the budget laptop segment in the Indian market.

Oppo Find N5 shows off its slim design a comparison against the Find N3

Oppo is working on its next generation of flagship foldable smartphone that will be called the Find N5. This model will likely make its debut in the brand’s home market of China, but ahead of its announcement, new images have surfaced that showcases the device’s ultra slim profile against its predecessor. So let’s check it out.

Oppo Find N5 faces off against the Find N3

In a tweet shared by known tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Chinese tech giant’s upcoming Find N5 model can be seen with the last gen Find N3 model. To recall, the Find N3 was praised for its thin design as well, measuring around 5.8mm. However, the newer Find N5 will reportedly measure only 4.8mm in terms of thickness. These figures are the width of these foldable phones when they are open.

Oppo Find N5
Oppo Find N5 vs Oppo Find N3

This showcased the brand’s efforts in making the device a lot less bulkier compared to its predecessor. In total, the Oppo Find N5 has shaved off around 1.6mm to achieve this slimmer design, which can be clearly seen in the image shared on the tweet. When folded, the Find N3 measures around 11.7mm while the Find N5 is believed to measure around 9.2mm in thickness.

Based on previous rumors and reports, Oppo’s Find N5 could be the first foldable phone to feature the 7-core variant of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Oppo Reno 13 5G review: A well-rounded smartphone with some compromises

The Reno 13 5G is the latest addition to Oppo’s popular Reno series, aiming to strike a balance between premium design, solid performance, and a feature-rich experience. With its sleek aesthetics, vibrant display, and impressive camera setup, the Reno 13 targets users who want a stylish yet functional smartphone. But how does it fare in real-world usage? Let’s find out.

1. Design and Build

  • Colors: Ivory White | Luminous Blue

The Oppo Reno 13 5G flaunts a premium design that immediately catches the eye. Available in two stunning color options— Ivory White and Luminous Blue—the phone features a glass back with a matte finish. The white edition has a buttery pattern, whereas the blue variant has a shimmering glow around the camera module. When it comes to durability, the Reno 13 comes with an aluminium alloy frame and an IP68/69-rated dust and water-resistant chassis.

The Reno 13 sports a flat display surrounded by ultra-thin bezels on all four sides. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. On the top, the Reno 13 houses an IR blaster and a noise-reduction microphone, while the bottom features a SIM slot, a microphone, a USB-C charging port, and a speaker grille. The power and volume buttons are conveniently located on the right side of the body, ensuring easy access.

With a thickness of just 7.24mm (Plume White variant) and a weight of 181g, the Reno 13 feels lightweight and comfortable to hold, making it ideal for one-handed use. The slim profile and curved edges enhance ergonomics, ensuring the phone doesn’t feel bulky even during extended use.

2. Display and Audio

  • 6.59-inch AMOLED FHD+ (1256 x 2760)
  • 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors
  • 1,200nits HBM, 600nits normal brightness
  • HDR: HDR10, HDR10+
  • Dual speakers

The Oppo Reno 13 5G sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1256 x 2760 pixels, which can be reduced to FHD+ resolution through display settings. With a peak brightness of 1200 nits, the display remains visible even under direct sunlight. When it comes to color schemes, the phone offers options like Natural, Pro, and Vivid, along with adjustable color temperature for each mode. For eye strain protection, it offers features like Eye Comfort & Sleep Mode and Adaptive Tone.

As for the refresh rate, the Reno 13 offers options like Auto-Select, Standard (60Hz), and High (120Hz). It also allows users to set app-specific refresh rates. In terms of audio, the phone features a single bottom-firing speaker and an earpiece that doubles as a speaker for stereo output. The sound is well-balanced, making it enjoyable for media consumption and casual listening.

3. Performance and Software

Oppo Reno 13

  • Dimensity 8350
  • LPDDR5x RAM | UFS 3.1
  • Variants: 8GB+128GB | 8GB+256GB
  • Android 15 | Realme UI 6
  • 5,600mAh battery | 80W wired charging

The Reno 13 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It delivers smooth performance for everyday tasks, with no noticeable lag or frame drops, indicating excellent software optimization.

For gaming, PUBG runs best at Smooth + 90fps settings, as the Ultra setting can cause significant lag. While the frame rate isn’t always constant at 90fps, it consistently stays above 60fps, ensuring a smooth gaming experience. Additionally, the device maintains good thermal management, with no significant heating issues even after 1.5 hours of continuous gaming.

The phone runs ColorOS 15 based on Android, featuring a refined user interface with iOS-inspired elements. Notable AI features include AI Writer, AI Recording Summary, AI Speak, and AI Studio Reimagine, which enhance productivity and multimedia experiences. However, some pre-installed bloatware, like FinShell Pay, Oppo’s App Market, and preloaded games, may not appeal to all users, though they can be uninstalled.

Battery life is a strong point, thanks to the 5,600mAh capacity, which easily lasts over a day of moderate usage. The 80W SuperVOOC fast charging ensures the device reaches 100% in about 45–50 minutes. Oppo promises four years of Android OS updates and five years of security patches, ensuring long-term software support. Here is how the device performed on benchmarking apps.

4. Camera and Other Features

Oppo Reno 13
Oppo Reno 13
  • Front: 50MP with autofocus
  • Rear: 50MP (Sony LYT-600) with OIS + 8MP (Sony IMX355) + 2MP (monochrome)

The Oppo Reno 13 5G features a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. The main camera captures detailed and vibrant images, while the ultra-wide lens provides a decent field of view. However, the lack of a telephoto lens is noticeable when zooming in.

The 50-megapixel front camera delivers sharp and well-exposed selfies. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording at 60fps, as well as Full HD at 60fps, ensuring smooth and high-quality video capture. The LivePhoto feature, which captures a few seconds before and after a shot, is a handy addition for social media enthusiasts.

Portrait photography is a standout feature, with Reno 13 delivering natural and soft background blur, smooth edge transitions, and a strong sense of layering. The beauty algorithm is finely tuned, offering natural and vivid results. While the portrait mode excels in edge detection, it occasionally struggles with dynamic range in challenging lighting conditions.

In regular shooting, the Reno 13 produces bright, clear photos with vivid colors and rich details, showcasing its excellent imaging capabilities. The ultra-wide lens is ideal for capturing expansive landscapes. Additionally, the AI-powered ColorOS 15 system allows users to remove glass reflections with a single click, enhancing image purity.

I like that Oppo has lowered the position of the in-display fingerprint sensor on the screen, making it more convenient as it’s now closer to the bottom bezels. The device also offers a range of connectivity features, such as an IR blaster, dual SIM 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.4 for seamless and fast connections. The Reno 13 further enhances connectivity with Beacon Link, a feature that allows users to make phone calls over Bluetooth when there is no network coverage. Additionally, there’s a dedicated “Share with iPhone” feature, ensuring smooth and effortless file transfers to iPhones.

5. Verdict

Oppo Reno 13
Oppo Reno 13

The Oppo Reno 13 5G strikes a balance between aesthetics, performance, and functionality, making it a strong contender in its price range. In India, the Reno 13 5G is expected to be priced at around Rs 37,999 (~$435) for the 8GB + 128GB variant and Rs 39,999 (~$460) for the 8GB + 256GB variant. To recall, the Reno 12 was made available in a single 8GB+256GB version priced at Rs 32,999 (~$380).

Available in Ivory White and Luminous Blue, the Reno 13 competes with other photography-focused phones that have more versatile camera setups, such as the Xiaomi 14 Civi and Honor 200 Pro. It also faces competition from other similarly priced phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, Google Pixel 8A, and Realme GT 6. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ and Reame 14 Pro+ are also good competitors that offer a decent chipset and good cameras at sub-Rs 35,000. Both are bigger smartphones that pack a larger battery of around 6,000mAh capacity.

As compared to the Reno 12, the Reno 13 has a smaller factor, a better chipset, a new selfie camera, a bigger battery, and better durability. Therefore, it can be said that the Reno 13 is a comprehensive upgrade as compared to the predecessor model. It would have been better if the Reno 13 also featured a telephoto since it is slotted between the Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000 price segment.

If you’re an Oppo fan or prioritize design and display quality, the Reno 13 is a solid choice. However, if camera versatility and bloatware-free software are higher on your list, you might want to explore other options.

Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Gorilla Armor 2 is not as scratch-resistant as its predecessor

One of the few hardware upgrades in the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the front surface, the Gorilla Armor 2. Corning described the glass as “The industry’s first scratch-resistant, anti-reflective glass ceramic cover material for mobile devices.” Tests cited by Samsung show that the new glass is highly resistant to drops and can survive the impact of a 2.2m drop on a concrete-like surface.

Galaxy S25 Ultra scratches at level 6

Its about a balance between drop and scratch resistance

But on the other hand, as famous YouTuber JerryRigEverything’s test reveals, the glass is less scratch-resistant than the first-generation Gorilla Armor. So what’s going on?

Well, as it turns out, making the grass more resistant to scratches also makes it more brittle, and manufacturers often switch between the two back and forth in successive generations. So this year the glass is more drop-resistant at the cost of being slightly more prone to scratches.

That said, the glass still scratches at level 6, which is kind of the industry standard for smartphones. So if you are scrolling through this article without a screen protector or have plans to buy the phone as long the pre-order period ends, you don’t have to worry at all.

The slightly curved sides also used to be prone to scratches, which Samsung has fixed from the root – now you have a completely flat display. The Gorilla Glass Armor 2 also comes with a slightly improved anti-reflective coating.

The display panel underneath is the same as last year and reaches the same 2600 nits of peak brightness. However, if you are wondering whether the grainy effect still appears in low light, it was apparently a software issue and has been fixed with the 2025 flagship.
