Samsung’s Galaxy S25+ has resurfaced on Geekbench (but this time with the Snapdragon 8 Elite), delivering impressive results that position it as a high-performance contender in the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. The scores promise a significant upgrade in performance over both the S24+ and base S25.
Galaxy S25+ Geekbench performance with Snapdragon 8 Elite
The Galaxy S25+ scored an impressive 3160 in single-core and 9941 in multi-core tests on Geekbench. These figures are a marked improvement over the base Galaxy S25, which recorded scores of 2481 and 8658, respectively. The S25+’s performance even comes close to Qualcomm’s reference Snapdragon 8 Elite units, indicating Samsung’s efforts to maximize the chip’s potential.
The Geekbench listing confirms the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, clocked at 4.47 GHz—higher than the standard version’s 4.32 GHz limit. Additionally, the Galaxy S25+ features 12 GB of RAM, aligning with the memory configuration of its predecessor, the Galaxy S24+. The S25 series is expected to launch on January 22 or 23.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S25+ has previously appeared on Geekbench powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2500 chipset, with scores of 2359 in single-core and 8141 in multi-core tests. These results are comparable to those of the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered base S25.
Samsung is likely trying to find out the sweet spot between performance and sustainability
Samsung is likely fine-tuning the performance of its upcoming devices (with both chips) to achieve an optimal balance between power consumption, thermal management, and performance. Notably, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has also been spotted on Geekbench with varying results, with its most recent test showcasing a multi-core score exceeding 10,000 while a previous listing showed a rather disappointing performance.
Given Samsung’s history, the Galaxy S25 and S25+ are likely to feature Exynos chipsets in markets outside the US, China, and select regions. While the yield rate of Samsung’s 3nm process (for the Exynos 2500) is reportedly around only 20%, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is also much more expensive than its predecessor.
That said, based on the performance of already released devices, we know that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is capable of sustaining the kind of performance hinted at by the Geekbench listings. It remains to be seen if the Exynos chip can deliver similar results.

In related news, Xiaomi also recently introduced the Mijia Smart Inverter Dehumidifier 30L, featuring dual-rotor technology and HyperOS integration. Additionally, the company launched the Mijia Smart Steam Oven S1, which offers a 30L capacity, auto-cleaning functionality, and voice control support.
Apple is reportedly preparing to release its slimmest iPhone to date with the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. According to The Information, this model is set to redefine thinness in smartphones, boasting a significantly reduced profile compared to previous models. If the claims hold true, the iPhone 17 Air could establish a new benchmark in Apple’s lineup while introducing design trade-offs to achieve such dimensions.
iPhone 17 Air could rival the iPad Pro 13 in thickness
The iPhone 17 Air, previously referred to as the iPhone 17 Slim, is rumored to replace the iPhone 16 Plus in Apple’s lineup. Early reports suggested a slim design, but the latest details indicate an even thinner profile, measuring just 5-6 mm thick.
For context, the iPhone 16 is already considered slim at 7.8 mm, and the iPhone 17 Air would be up to 35% thinner. This would make it Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date, dethroning the iPhone 6 Plus, which has held the record since 2014 with its 7.1 mm case.
In terms of design, the iPhone 17 Air may rival the thinness of the iPad Pro 13, which measures 5.1 mm. However, achieving this sleek profile comes with compromises, such as a single rear-facing camera. Interestingly, this contradicts a previously shared render by AppleTrack, suggesting uncertainty about the final design.
The ultra-slim form factor means a couple of other changes
Alongside its slim design, the iPhone 17 Air may see several other changes. Reports indicate that it will forego mmWave 5G network support and a physical SIM card slot. While the latter has been standard for US iPhones since the iPhone 14, the lack of mmWave support could affect network performance in regions where it is prevalent.
Apple is also expected to equip the iPhone 17 Air with its in-house 5G modem. However, this modem is rumored to offer slower transfer speeds compared to the Qualcomm chips used in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. Another omission could be the down-firing speaker, which may further streamline the design.
Durability remains a concern with such a thin device, particularly since Apple’s similarly slim iPads have faced structural challenges in the past. This raises questions about how well the iPhone 17 Air will withstand everyday use.
Notably, Samsung is also working on its version of a slim Galaxy flagship as part of the S25 series, which is also rumored to be significantly slimmer than the existing models. You can learn more about Samsung’s development of the ‘Slim’ phone here.
Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated Redmi Note 14 series in India soon. But ahead of the official release, the pricing of the Redmi Note 14 and Redmi Note 14 Pro in the Indian market has been leaked. So here’s everything you need to know.
Redmi Note 14, Note 14 Pro India Pricing
The Chinese tech giant is set to launch the Redmi Note 14 series in India on 9th December 2024. To recall, these mid range devices were first announced in China back in September. So just days ahead of the Indian release, known tipster Abhishek Yadav shared the Indian MRP for the Redmi Note 14 lineup in India on X (formerly Twitter). Xiaomi is apparently planning to launch all three models in India, namely the Note 14, Note 14 Pro, and Note 14 Pro+.
Redmi Note 14 Series
Looking at the tweet, the Redmi Note 14 series will arrive in multiple storage configurations in India. So let’s have a look at their pricing:
Redmi Note 14
6GB + 128GB – 21,999 INR (~260 US Dollars)
8GB + 128GB – 22,999 INR (~272 US Dollars)
8GB + 256GB – 24,999 INR (~296 US Dollars)
Redmi Note 14 Pro
8GB + 128GB – 28,999 INR (~343 US Dollars)
8GB + 256GB – 30,999 INR (~367 US Dollars)
Redmi Note 14 Pro+
8GB + 128GB – 34,999 INR (~415 US Dollars)
8GB + 256GB – 36,999 INR (~438 US Dollars)
12GB + 512GB – 39,999 INR (~474 US Dollars)
The tipster stated that these are the MRP for the region, which is the maximum retail price. This means that the actual pricing for these smartphones in India will be more affordable than the MRP. Apart from the pricing, Abhishek Yadav also claimed that there will be slight changes to these models compared to the Redmi Note 14 series that launched in China. The lineup arrived with up to an IP69 rating, but the Indian versions will have an IP68 rating for protection. These models will even pack 20 AI powered features as well.

After a series of leaks and rumors, OnePlus officially confirms that the next Ace series devices will launch in China this December. The lineup includes two models —- the standard Ace 5 and the Ace 5 Pro.
The teaser image shows the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, though the company hasn’t confirmed which phone will feature it. It’s likely that the Ace 5 Pro will be powered by this SoC.
OnePlus is expected to reveal more features and announce an official launch date soon. Meanwhile, the Ace 5’s retail box has already appeared on Weibo, a popular Chinese social media platform. The box sports the classic OnePlus red design with bold black “Ace” text on top.
OnePlus Ace 5 series specifications
Let’s now delve into the rumored specs for both contenders. The standard Ace 5 is expected to boast a respectable Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a smooth 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE display with LTPO technology, and a hefty 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM paired with 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
In the camera department, whispers suggest a triple-camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, complemented by 8MP and 2MP auxiliary lenses. To keep you powered through the day, a sizeable battery between 6000mAh and 6500mAh is rumored, along with support for 100W fast charging.
The Ace 5 Pro is rumored to pack the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The display stays in the 1.5K BOE X2 LTPO territory but with the added benefit of ultra-narrow bezels for a truly immersive viewing experience.
While details remain murky on the camera setup, we can expect a triple-sensor configuration with a 50MP main sensor, but sadly, no periscope lens for those super-zoom enthusiasts.
The battery capacity falls within the 6200mAh to 6300mAh range, again with support for 100W fast charging. To top it all off, the Ace 5 Pro is rumored to sport a right-angle metal frame with chamfered corners, giving it a boxy and modern aesthetic.

Getting a pair of ear-cover headphones becomes particularly important as the weather turns cold. Not only do your ears feel warm, but the headset also offers a moment of peace in the chaos. In this artcle, I found a budget option that comes with pretty decent performance – the OneOdio Focus A5. It attactive me first with a stylish appearance, and then excellent sound quality and a comfortable wearing experience help me decide to turn it into a review. It could be your good companion in the winter, whether on your commute or in a noisy workfield. Enjoying a good experience in music is always the correct thing to do, more importantly, at a budget cost.
For Amazon US, use promotion code “FOCUSA5PRO” to get 10% OFF, stackable with the page discount (Valid until Dec. 31).
For Amazon UK, use code ‘PDLQERWD’ to get 10% OFF, also stackable with the page discount (Valid until Dec. 31).
If buy the headset from OneOdio shop, the code ‘XMKGFG’ to get 20% OFF will be a good option.
Design
OneOdio’s consumer products have not been very well-known actually, they are more known for designing and manufacturing monitoring headphones in professional niches, and the A5 is their second product in the wider consumer market.
OneOdio Focus A5 Design
From the three logos on the packaging, we can see that the A5 has excellent hardware. Get Hi-Res certified, requires the devices to receive high-spec audio data and support a wider frequency response range.
Hi-res Certification
This headphone not only supports conventional AAC and SBC but also supports the lossless digital audio codec LDAC. It thanks to Bluetooth’s lossless audio transmission protocol, which has better compatibility with phones with Qualcomm or MediaTek chips. However, on PCs and iPhones, they only support AAC.
Audio Technology:AAC/SBC/LDAC
But if you want to use this high-spec audio transmission, there is another way – by plugging in a cable . Through a USB-C cable, the A5 can be transformed into a USB sound card, and then you can select your desired high-quality audio output mode in the output settings.
Setting 24bit 96KhzWired connection
When I received these headphones, I found that they looked quite similar to SONY, to be honest. However, when I look at them closely, there are still some significant differences.
OneOdio Focus A5 Design
I believe the button controls are better. I have always hated headphones that use touch control as they are too easy to be accidentally triggered.
Location of the buttons on the headset
The OneOdio Focus A5 uses a lot of physical buttons, and I can easily understand what button I am pressing, and whether it has been pressed based on the feedback. But I think one thing that is not so good here is that these buttons and interfaces are too close together. If I use them wired, it will conflict with the USB-C.
There are some conflicting buttons on the headset
Experience
The thing I do most with headphones is for video editing, while wired headphones generally is the first option. Most wireless headphones would bring some perceptable sound latency, especially when checking the audio correct alligning with the images. If this only happens in editing, it’s not a big deal. But if it happens during gaming, the delay can be fatal. But surprisingly, the OneOdio is usable for both with a gaming mode, though the sound quality could be shift to a less stunning level.
Editing Video with OneOdio Focus A5
After long pressing to enable ANC and switch to a gaming mode, I could feel that the delay got reduced. So after that, I shift the wired options to the Focus A5 with this mode on, a lot, no matter for relaxing gaming or video editing. But it may still cause confusion when gaming like Call of Duty and PUBG, as these games require super fast response for battle.
Playing games with OneOdio Focus A5
And the gaming mode comes at a cost. Please note enabling gaming mode will use a lossy encoding format to transmit audio. However, if you want to retain sound quality, you can use a USB-C cable to connect to your computer and turn it into a wired headset.
OneOdio Focus A5 playing games using a wired connection
Almost all headphones for now always come with ANC regardless of the price. First I thought that the ANC on headphones in this price range would be also ‘cheap’. But after careful comparison, I found that the ANC on this headphone is not bad. It can easily filter out the surrounding and even noise such as rustle of rain outside the window. That feels good, at least it really helps me focus on my work.
ANC
This headphone has a 600mAh battery, which is only an average level compared to other mainstream ear-covered headphones on the market. But there’s one story I should share here. I forgot to turn off the computer and the headphones for once, and they just kept playing music. When I came to the studio the next day, I was surprised to find that the headphones were still playing music with a significant battery percentage left. Not sure it’s some sort of illusion: the headphones’ battery life could last longer compared to the TWS headsets I’ve tried for the few months.
OneOdio Focus A5 Electricity
The first time I used these headphones, I wasn’t listening to music but watching Mad Max. There are a lot of engine roars in that movie, with these headphones, it feels like I was watching a movie in a cinema. However, when listening to music, the low-frequency performance is a bit too much, but after shaping the sound with an equalizer, the performance becomes much better, especially in the mid and high tones.
Watching Mad Max
Conclusion
To be honest, I am not an audio enthusiast, but the performance of this headphone is impressive, especially after shaping the sound with the equalizer. They did not remove the wired connection like most headphones but replaced the 3.5mm with a more widely-used USB-C port. I have tried it with Android, iPhone, PC, and Mac, all of which are functional well.
In summary, its performance and price are well balanced, or even bring you a surprise. If you want to know more about them, it’s informative to check it out on OneOdio shop or their Amazon shop. And during sale season, the headphone is available with using codes to get discount. Again, check the buttons down below.
Huawei unveiled its flagship Mate 70 series yesterday, but, as with previous launches, it disclosed little about the phone’s chipset. While early rumors pointed to a “Kirin 9100” with eight ARM Cortex cores, new information from China tells a different story.
Images shared on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, confirm that the Mate 70 series runs on a new “Kirin 9020” chipset. This naming isn’t a complete surprise, as its predecessor, the Kirin 9010, powers the Pura 70 series.
The Kirin 9020 features a 12-core CPU with two prime cores clocked at 2.5GHz, six mid-range cores at 2.1GHz, and four efficiency cores peaking at 1.6GHz. However, this core design could be a result of hyperthreading.
Kirin 9020 supports hyperthreading
Hyperthreading is a technique that allows manufacturers to fit two logical cores per physical core. The Kirin 9010, for instance, had a 1+3+4 physical core layout, but its prime and mid-range cores support hyperthreading. This makes its logical core design 2+6+4. The Kirin 9020 also likely uses the same technique.
If true, the new SoC is using HiSilicon’s in-house Taishan CPU cores for the top two clusters, rather than ARM cores. The four efficiency cores, however, are likely Cortex-A510s, like the previous 9000-series chips.
The graphics processing unit (GPU) also appears to be an in-house design, dubbed the Maleoon 920. This boasts a maximum clock speed of 840MHz, exceeding the 750MHz of the Kirin 9010’s Maleoon 910. Specific details regarding the architecture and compute unit count for the new GPU remain unavailable.
AnTuTu scores for the Mate 70 Pro+ reveal a total of 1,248,520 points. It’s nowhere near what the latest flagship chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek achieve. But it’s a near 30% improvement over the Kirin 9010 found in the Pura 70 series, which scores around 979,511 points on AnTuTu.
With the unveiling of the Huawei Mate 70 Pro, a flagship powerhouse, the question arises: How does it compare to Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro? Both devices target the high-end smartphone market, but Huawei’s Mate 70 Pro edges ahead in several areas. Here’s a detailed comparison highlighting where the Mate 70 Pro outshines the iPhone 16 Pro.
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro features a 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display with a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and an impressive peak brightness of 2,500 nits. This display is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass, known for its drop resistance and durability, making it superior in brightness and protection.
In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. While it includes Ceramic Shield protection and supports ProMotion technology, it falls short of the Mate 70 Pro in both size and peak brightness.
2. Cameras
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro’s camera system includes a 50MP main camera with a variable aperture of f/1.4-f/4.0, providing exceptional control over depth of field. It also boasts a 48MP macro telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom, a 40MP ultra-wide camera, and a groundbreaking 1.5MP multi-spectral imaging sensor. This sensor enhances color accuracy and shadow preservation, making it ideal for photography enthusiasts.
The iPhone 16 Pro features a 48MP wide camera, a 12MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultra-wide camera. While the iPhone excels in computational photography and video features like 4k@120 video recording and Spatial Audio, it doesn’t offer the same level of aperture flexibility or the specialized multi-spectral sensor of the Mate 70 Pro.
3. Battery & Charging
Huawei leads in battery capacity and charging speed. The Mate 70 Pro houses a 5,500mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging, ensuring a full charge in minimal time. It also supports 20W reverse wireless charging.
The iPhone 16 Pro includes a smaller 3582mAh battery with 25W wired charging and 25W wireless charging. While Apple has improved battery life through software optimization, the Mate 70 Pro’s hardware advantage is undeniable.
4. Durability
Both phones are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, but the Huawei Mate 70 Pro goes a step further with an IP69 rating, ensuring protection against high-pressure water jets. This feature makes the Mate a more rugged option for adventurous users.
5. Conclusion
While the iPhone 16 Pro is an impressive device with its own set of enhancements and the new A18 Pro chip, the Huawei Mate 70 Pro stands out for its superior camera capabilities, longer battery life, and faster charging. These features make the Mate 70 Pro a compelling choice for users who value photography and battery performance over brand loyalty. For consumers in regions where Huawei products are available, the Mate 70 Pro offers a robust alternative that challenges the premium dominance of the iPhone 16 Pro.
While Apple offers compact phones, Huawei does not currently have such options available. According to recent news, Huawei also has no plans to launch a compact phone in the near future.
As the name suggests, the Mate X6 succeeds the Mate X5 from 2023. It is a book-type foldable phone whose display folds horizontally.
Whereas the previously released Mate XT Ultimate is a first-of-its-kind trifold smartphone.
The Mate X6 brings a few upgrades over the Mate X5. These changes not only make it better than its predecessor but also a strong competitor to foldables from other brands.
Let’s go through the key highlights of the Huawei Mate X6 in this post.
The Huawei Mate X6 measures only 4.6mm when unfolded. This makes it one of the thinnest book-style foldable smartphones on the market.
Even when folded, the device’s thickness is just 9.9mm. Also, it weighs about 239, which is light for a foldable.
The back panel of the phone comes in two finishes: leather and nylon fiber. These materials make it less prone to break when dropped.
Furthermore, the device is IPX8-rated (water resistant) and uses self-developed second-generation Kunlun Glass protection for the external display.
2. Revamped camera system
Huawei has included an upgraded camera setup with the Mate X6. All three rear sensors use RYYB pixel arrangement.
The primary camera continues to be a 50MP sensor with OIS. But this sensor now supports 10-point variable aperture (f/1.4 to f/4.0).
While the ultrawide unit is upgraded to 40MP from 13MP. Similarly, the zoom camera is now a 48MP 4x telephoto macro shooter instead of a 13MP 5x periscope telephoto snapper.
Anyways, the front cameras for both external and internal screens use the same 8MP sensor.
3. New chip
The Huawei Mate X6 allegedly houses a new chip from HiSilicon. This SoC is called Kirin 9020.
Most chipsets on the market use an octa-core CPU. However, this new chip from Huawei utilizes a dodeca-core CPU (12 cores).
The said CPU reportedly consists of 2 x 2.5GHz cores, 6 x 2.15GHz cores, and 4 x 1.6GHz cores. It is accompanied by a 4CU GPU clocked at 850MHz.
The performance of HiSilicon Kirin 9020 is close to that of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
4. Other improvements
The Huawei Mate X6 has a slightly higher resolution internal display than its predecessor. Its panel offers a resolution of 2440 x 2440 pixels as opposed to the 2496 x 2224 pixels screen on the older model.
Further, the device houses a tad bit larger 5,110mAh battery compared to a 5,060mAh battery inside the previous model. However, both of them support the same 66W wired and 50W wireless charging standards.

Earlier today (26th November 2024), Huawei finally launched the Mate 70 series of flagship smartphones in its home market of China. These feature the brand’s cutting edge technology, so here’s every feature that makes it stand out among the crowd.
The Chinese tech giant’s latest high-end smartphones feature slim and premium design. To recall, the lineup consists of the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 RS Ultimate. Excluding the most expensive RS Ultimate and Mate 70 Pro+ model, the rest feature a glass back and aluminum alloy frame. In my personal opinion, this iteration of the circular camera module is one of the best I’ve seen so far.
The Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro have a seamless ring design, while the Mate 70 Pro+ adds contrast with a golden ring around the rear cameras. It also blends a titanium frame like the iPhone 16 Pros, with a glass back. Lastly, we have the Mate 70 RS Ultimate Edition, which takes it up a notch with a titanium frame and a back panel that is made with brocade material. This basically adds another premium feel to Huawei’s top flagship phone.
2. Cameras with Variable Aperture
Huawei Mate 70 Pro+
Over the last couple of flagship series, Huawei has refined the use of variable apertures on its Mate devices and the Mate 70 lineup continues this legacy. The primary camera on all four models is a 50MP sensor that has an F1.4-F4.0 aperture and OIS support (Optical Image Stabilization).
This helps users tweak the amount of light coming into the sensor. All four models have a triple camera setup on the rear, which includes a telephoto shooter and ultra wide angle lens. Other phones have also used variable aperture in the past, but Huawei is the only one that consistently employs it in its flagships.
3. Face ID
For security, there is a side mounted fingerprint scanner on every model. But excluding the base model, the Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 RS Ultimate are equipped with a 3D face scanner. In other words, you get Face ID. This is another layer of protection, which could be perfect for those moving away from an iPhone. Apart from Apple, the feature is mostly rare since most smartphone makers opt for variants of the fingerprint scanner.
