Motorola has just launched a new product for the Indian market. The company has announced a new tablet that is dubbed the Moto Tab G70, which features some notable specs like 2K display, quad speakers, and more.

Talking about the Tab G70, it is a high end tablet that is geared towards gaming and multimedia consumption likes movies and videos. Furthermore, the tablet sports an 11 inch display with a 2K resolution and narrow bezels on all four sides, which offers an edge to edge view and a high screen to body ratio. The tablet also has HD certification for Amazon and Netflix and can output up to 400 nits of brightness from its LCD panel.

Under the hood, a large 7,700mAh battery pack powers the device, which supports up to 20W fast charging. It runs MediaTek’s Helio G90T octa core processor, which is paired with 4GB of RAM. It also arrives with 64GB of internal storage and users can even expand this to up to 1TB via a microSD card. Other notable features include a Quad speaker setup that supports Dolby Atmos, Android 11 out of the box, 13 megapixel rear camera, and an 8 megapixel selfie shooter.

As of right now, the Moto Tab G70 is available for pre orders on Flipkart and is priced at 21,999 INR (roughly 299 US Dollars). It is available in a single color and storage variant, namely Cyber Teal and 4GB + 64GB model. The company is ever offering a discount for ICICI Bank Credit and Debit Card users, which brings down the price to by up to 1,250 INR (roughly 17 US Dollars). The company also stated that it has not introduced its own accessories with the Moto Tab G70, although, it is built to support most 3rd party accessories including stylus and keyboards.

Motorola entered the tablet market in India last year by unveiling the Moto Tab G20 in September. The company is now gearing up to launch a new tablet called the Moto Tab G70 in India. The landing page of the new tablet is now live on Flipkart, which indicates that it may debut soon in the country. Motorola will be unleashing the Moto G71 5G smartphone on Jan. 10 in India. It is likely that the Tab G70 may also go official alongside the G71.

Moto Tab G70 specifications

The Moto Tab G70 has an 11-inch display with slim bezels. It offers a 2K resolution, 400 nits of brightness, and is capable of playing HD content from OTT platforms like Amazon, Prime Video, and Netflix. The tablet is fitted with Dolby Atmos powered quad speakers.

The Helio G90T is present under the hood of the Moto Tab G70. It has a 7,700mAh battery that carries support for 20W fast charging. Once charged, the tablet can also for up to 15 hours, claims the company. The tablet is equipped with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage.

The tablet comes preinstalled with Android 11 OS that has a dedicated Google entertainment space to provide access to users’ favorite movies, games, etc. For photography, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera for video calls. The tablet supports connectivity features like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, a USB-C port, and a pogo-pin for connecting an optional keyboard.

The Tab G70 has an aluminium alloy body with a dual-tone finish. In addition, it comes with an IP52 rated water-repellant construction.  The device measures 258.4 x 163 x 7.5mm and weighs 490 grams.

Lenovo has announced three new tablets that cover the high-end and mid-range categories. The tablets are the YOGA Tab 13, the YOGA Tab 11, and the Tab P11 Plus.

YOGA Tab 13 and YOGA Tab 11

The YOGA Tab 13 is the same tablet that launched in China as the YOGA Pad Pro last month. Lenovo has modified the name for the international market and launches it alongside a smaller version called the YOGA Tab 11. Both have a bracket that doubles as a kickstand and a hanger.

The YOGA Tab 13 is powered by the Snapdragon 870 processor and has 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The display is a 13-inch LTPS panel with Dolby Vision and a 60Hz refresh rate. There are quad JBL speakers, Dolby Atmos, and three microphones.

The YOGA Tab 13 has support for HDMI input, allowing it to double as an external display for your other devices. This feature is not available on the smaller YOGA Tab 11 which also drops the Snapdragon 870 for MediaTek’s Helio G90T processor.

The YOGA Tab 11 has an 11-inch TDDI LCD screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision. There is 4GB or 8GB of RAM and 256GB or 128GB of storage. It also has quad JBL speakers and Dolby Atmos.

The YOGA Tab 13 has a 10000mAh battery capacity and supports 30W fast charging while the YOGA Tab 11 has a 7500mAh battery and supports 20W fast charging. Both run Android 11 out of the box and come with Google Entertainment Space and Google Kids Space.

The YOGA Tab 13 is priced at €799 and will go on sale in Europe this month while it will be available in the US in July for $680. The YOGA Tab 11 is priced at €349 and will be available in Europe next month while it will sell for $320 in the US and will be available in August. It is also the only one of the two that is available in Wi-Fi and LTE variants. Both tablets support the Lenovo Precision Pen 2.

Lenovo Tab P11 Plus

The Tab P11 Plus joins its already announced siblings – the Tab P11 and the Tab P11 Pro. The new tablet is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G90T processor and will be available in three configurations with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.

The 11-inch IPS LCD display has a 2000 x 1600 resolution and draws power from a 7500mAh battery that supports 20W fast charging. While positioned as an entertainment tablet with its quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, there is an optional productivity pack that adds a keyboard with a trackpad so you can use it to get some work done.

The Tab P11 Plus also runs Android 11 and has Google Kids Space and Google Entertainment Space loaded on it. The tablet will be available in Europe next month for €300 while the US will get it for $260 in August.

The Infinix Zero 8i features a big 6.85-inch IPS LCD panel with a dual punch-hole design. The screen offers a 90Hz refresh rate, a Full HD+ resolution, and a 20:9 aspect. For capturing selfies, the phone possesses a main selfie camera of 16-megapixel and an 8-mgeapixel ultrawide lens.

Last week, Realme announced the Realme C11 smartphone in India. Before its launch, a microsite for the Realme 6i phone had appeared on Flipkart retailer site. The listing had suggested that it will go official along with the Realme C11 phone. However, the Realme 6i listing that carried some of its key specs was taken down. The handset did not go official with the C11. A tweet released by Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth yesterday suggested that the company may soon announce the Realme 6i phone.

The tweet states that Realme will be expanding the Realme 6 series soon with another powerful edition. The tweet does not mention the name of the Realme 6 series phone that will be announced in India in the near future. It seems that the company could be teasing the arrival of the Realme 6i phone.

The Realme 6i listing on Flipkart had revealed that it will be priced under Rs. 15,000 (~$200). It also revealed that the phone is equipped with a punch-hole display that offers a 90Hz refresh rate, a side-facing fingerprint reader, Helio G90T processor, and a quad-camera setup. Recent reports have revealed that the Realme 6s that debuted in Europe in May will be rebranded in India as Realme 6i. AnTuTu, the well-known benchmarking platform for mobile devices released the top 10 list of best performing flagship and midrange phones for April 2020. The top three in the flagship list are powered by Snapdragon 865 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro can be seen leading the pack. The list of midrange phone is led by Kirin 810 SoC powered Huawei Nova 7i.

As can be seen in the screenshot, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, OnePlus 8 Pro, and Xiaomi Mi 10 are placed at first, second and third, respectively on AnTuTu’s list. They have scored 593,769, 582,267, and 580,027, respectively on AnTuTu benchmarks.

The Exynos 990 powered Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and Galaxy 20+ 5G are placed fourth and fifth. The Snapdragon 855+ powered ROG Phone 2 by Asus is sixth followed by Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 that are fueled by Exynos 990. The ninth and tenth places are occupied by OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro. Both phones feature the Snapdragon 855+. Interestingly, there is now Kirin 990 5G powered Huawei / Honor phone in the list.

AnTuTu’s top 10 best-performing midrange phones in April

The Huawei Nova 7i is followed by Redmi Note 8 Pro in the second spot and Realme 6 in the third position. The Redmi and Realme phones are equipped with Helio G90T.  The Realme 6 Pro and Redmi Note 9S that are fueled by Snapdragon 720G are placed on fourth and fifth positions.

The remaining five phones on the list are all equipped with Snapdragon 730G chipset. The Realme X2, Xiaomi Mi 9T, Samsung Galaxy A80, Galaxy A71, and Xiaomi Mi Note 10 have made it to AnTuTu’s April list of best-performing midrange smartphones.

AnTuTu recently released the top 10 most-powerful flagship models that have run through the benchmark app in March. The benchmark outfit equally released the top 10 most powerful mid-range models for March 2020. The top 10 most-powerful mid-range models are powered by just five mid-range SoCs, with the Kirin 810 chipset having the widest spread.

The star of the moment still remains the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L SoC powering the OPPO Reno3 5G. The processor maintained its lead of this category with an average score of 407340 points. That is a wide gap between the Reno3 5G and the Exynos 980-powered Vivo X30 5G in the second spot. The gap between the first and second-ranked model is more than 80,000 points, showing the prowess of the Dimensity 1000L. The Reno3 5G was launched in December 2019 and has stayed consecutively atop AnTuTu’s midrange chart since January, thanks to the MediaTek SoC.

The Dimensity 1000L is built with a 7nm process and uses the Cortex-A77 architecture in an octa-core arrangement. The GPU uses the G77 architecture and the SoC also comes with built-in 5G baseband. The chipset equally supports NSA / SA dual-mode 5G.

The Redmi K30 5G packing a Snapdragon 765G processor maintained the third position. OPPO’s latest Reno3 Pro 5G enters at the fourth spot. The four models are the only 5G model in the top 10 midrange chart.

Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 810 chipset propelled five different Huawei and Honor models into the list. The phones include the Honor 9X Pro, Huawei Nova 6 SE, Honor 9X, Honor 20S and the Huawei Nova 5i, all occupying the fifth to ninth spots in that order.

Another MediaTek chipset, the Helio G90T makes the cut onboard the Redmi Note 8 Pro and with an average score of 289257 points.

With the launch of several models powered by the Snapdragon 765G, we expect the list to change pretty soon but the Dimensity 1000L’s dominance doesn’t seem to have any contender. However, the top 10 mid-range chart may soon be dominated by 5G phones in the coming months considering the rising number of 5G mid-range phones that are being released in quick succession.

Realme held its biggest unveil event today in India to announce the Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro smartphones. The event was also used to announce the Realme Band as the company’s first ever fitness tracker. At the event, the company confirmed that the Realme 6 is not the successor of the Realme 5 phone, but it has arrived as the successor for the Realme 5 Pro. The Realme 6 Pro has arrived to succeed the Realme X phone from last year. This new product repositioning will let Realme provide users with more devices with flagship experience.

Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro specifications and features

The Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro are equipped with full HD+ 6.5-inch IPS LCD panels that offer 90Hz refresh rate. The screen of the Realme 6 has a single punch-hole whereas the Realme 6 Pro’s display has a pill-shaped punch-hole for housing dual front-facing cameras. The company claims that the Realme 6 series offer a screen-to-body ratio of around 90.5 percent.

The Realme 6 phones are equipped with side-mounted fingerprint reader. A far as the appearance of the Realme 6 is concerned, the company claims that it flaunts a comet inspired design built with optical plating process. Redmi had announced the Redmi Note 8 series of smartphones in August in China. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the world’s first smartphone to arrive with a 64-megapixel camera. The handset was introduced in three colors like Fritillaria White, Ice Emerald (Green) and Light Gray. Today, the Chinese firm confirmed through a Weibo post that it will begin with the sales of the Redmi Note 8 Pro Twilight Orange color variant tomorrow in China.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro Twilight Orange edition will be available for purchase at 10 AM (local time) tomorrow. While the smartphone sells in four RAM and storage combinations, the Twilight Orange model will be available in two choices such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. These variants are respectively priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$201) and 1,599 Yuan (~$230).

The year 2019 was an eventful year in the tech industry resplendent with several defining moments like when Xiaomi launched the Mi 9 as the first Snapdragon 855 model. Of all the features that made the headlines, 5G dominated. The new technology is expected to usher in a new vista in the mobile phone industry. It also played a key role in all the Systems-on-Chip we saw this year as OEMs strive not to be left behind. Here’s AnTuTu’s review of all the major mobile phone SoCs released in 2019. Their ratings are based on several criteria such as flagship performance, technology innovation, cost-effectiveness and others. Do not tat this rating is restricted to Android phone SoCs and doesn’t include Apple’s.

The major Android mobile phone SoCs include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, Huawei’s Kirin, MediaTek’s, and Samsung’s Exynos. The SoCs from these fabless chipmakers comes with several improvements such as high performance, high refresh rates, high pixels, and 5G. technology.

AnTuTu 2019 SoC Awards: Strongest performance – Snapdragon 855 Plus

Unlike previous years when only one flagship was launched, this year’s Qualcomm also launched the Snapdragon 855 Plus with stronger GPU performance, which quickly became the flagship standard in the second half of 2019. With an average score of 480,000 (Antutu Evaluation V8), the Snapdragon 855 Plus emerged as the SoC with the best performance.

The Snapdragon 855 Plus is built using a 7nm process. The CPU and Snapdragon 855 are also based on the Kryo 485 architecture modified from the Cortex-A76 magic, but the main frequency has been increased from 2.84GHz to 2.96GHz. The GPU uses Adreno 640, the frequency has been increased from 585MHz of Snapdragon 855 to 675MHz, and supports a series of technologies such as Vulkan 1.1 API, 10bit HDR, 4K HDR display (support external), H.265 specification and VP9 decoding.

Although the Snapdragon 855 Plus does not have a built-in 5G baseband, its performance is obvious to all.

Technology Innovation Award: Huawei Kirin 990 5G

This year’s Huawei Kirin SoC is undoubtedly the most spectacular. The latest Kirin 990 5G is the industry’s first integrated 5G baseband SoC, which in a sense surpasses the world’s top manufacturers.

The Kirin 990 5G is manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm + EUV extreme ultraviolet lithography process, integrating up to 10.3 billion transistors. It is the industry’s first mobile SoC to break the 10 billion mark in terms of transistors. The CPU part integrates two 2.86GHz Cortex-A76 cores, two 2.36GHz Cortex-A76 cores and four 1.95GHz Cortex-A55 cores. The GPU has been upgraded to a 16-core Mali-G76 MP16, which has 6 cores more than the Kirin 980. Baseband supports 2/3/4 / 5G networks, NSA / SA dual-mode, TDD / FDD full frequency bands, and full Netcom 5G.

Technology Innovation Award: Samsung Exynos 980

There is no doubt that the integration of 5G baseband is a recognized development trend of future manufacturers. Samsung Exynos 980 is a mid-end SoC with built-in 5G baseband and supporting dual-mode 5G.

The Exynos 980 is built on an 8nm process. It has two 2.2GHz Cortex-A77 cores and six 1.8GHz A55 cores. The GPU is Mali-G76 MP5. In terms of communication performance, the Exynos 980 can be the fastest in the sub-6GHz band with 5G network speed of up to 2.55Gbps, 4G speed of up to 1Gbps, and dual-mode parallel speed of up to 3.55Gbps.

Although Samsung Electronics disbanded the self-developed CPU team this year, this is not necessarily bad news, because this means that Samsung Exynos is returning to the arms of ARM again, which may further improve the power consumption of the SoC.

Technology Innovation Award: Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G

At the Snapdragon Technology Summit in December, Qualcomm released the annual flagship Snapdragon 865, along with the Snapdragon 765 / 765G, and if you look closely at their characteristics, you will find that the two SoCs are integrated in process and baseband. Most cost-effective award: Huawei Kirin 810

In June this year, Huawei released the Kirin 810. The biggest change is that it no longer uses the Cambrian NPU instead, it adopts Huawei’s self-developed DaVinci architecture. At the same time, it uses a 7nm process, making Kirin the world’s first to have two 7nm SoCs.

The Kirin 810-powered Honor 9X si presently sold for as low as 1,199 yuan which makes it one of the most cost-effective SoC around.

The Kirin 810 is built using a 7nm process, built with two 2.27GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six 1.88GHz A55s. The GPU is upgraded to Mali-G52 for customization and supports Kirin Gaming + technology.

Most cost-effective award: Helio G90T

MediaTek changed its trend this year and successively launched Helio G90T, Dimensity 1000 and other mid-to-high-end SoCs. Among them, Helio G90T is positioned at the mid-range in the same league with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 series.

The frequency is up to 2.05GHz. The GPU is equipped with ARM Mali-G76. 3EEMC4, clocked at 800MHz, and built-in dual-core APU, combined with CPU and GPU can provide 1TMACs AI computing power.

For 2020, we see 5G playing a more prominent role in the calibre of the flagship to midrange and budget SoCs that would be released.

Like the predecessor Note series models, the Redmi Note 8 duo is expected to achieve recording breaking sales in India as they have arrived with enticing price tags.

The Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro phones have Gorilla Glass 5 panels on their rear with IP52 P2i splash-resistant nano coating. The Note 8 Pro is the first smartphone in India to come with built-in Alexa assistant. The Redmi Note 8 has a 4,000mAh battery whereas the Note 8 Pro is packed with a larger 4,500mAh battery. Both phones are equipped with support for 18W rapid charging. There is Game Turbo 2.0 technology onboard on both devices for accelerated graphics performance while gaming. The Note 8 Pro also features MediaTek’s HyperEngine for optimized performance. For enhanced gaming experience, the antennas of the phone are arranged in such a manner that it does not obstruct signals during gaming while the device is held in landscape mode.

The upper half of the rear side of the Redmi Note 8 Pro features a vertical quad camera setup with Samsung GW1 64-megapixel main lens with  f/1.9 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with 120-degree field-of-view, a 2-megapixel super macro lens with 2cm focal length and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The Chinese firm will be selling only 5,000 units of the smartphone. Horde and Alliance are the two variants of the Redmi Note 8 Pro World of Warcraft Edition smartphone.

The Horde model comes in a black and red box and inside is the Electro-optic Ash edition of the Redmi Note 8 Pro. It also features a black and red colored case along with World of Warcraft cards. On the other side, the Alliance model has a white and blue box that features a Fritillaria White version of the smartphone, a black-blue colored case and WoW cards.

Amazon India will be running the Great Indian Festival between Oct. 13 and Oct. 17. With the Redmi Note 8 series arriving just ahead of Diwali festival in the country, it appears that the Redmi Note 8 duo may end up with record breaking sales. Apart from launching the Note 8 series, the Chinese manufacturer will be also unveiling the MIUI 11 UI in India at the same event.

Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

The Redmi Note 8v and Note 8 Pro respectively feature IPS LCD panels of 6.3 inches and 6.53 inches. Both waterdrop notch enabled screens offer full HD+ resolution. The front and rear sides of the Redmi Note 8 duo have Gorilla Glass 5 panels. The Android 9 Pie OS runs on both devices. It remains to be seen whether the latest MIUI 11 UI is made available on the Indian editions of Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro.

In China, the Redmi Note 8 is priced between 999 Yuan (~$140; Rs. 9,999) and 1,399 Yuan (~$197; Rs. 13,999) The Redmi Note 8 Pro is available in the home market between 1,399 Yuan (~$197; Rs. 13,999) and 1,799 Yuan (~$253; Rs. 17,999). These phones may carry similar pricing in India.

Xiaomi’s recently launched Redmi Note 8 Pro is different than its predecessors in one major department. The company decided to use a MediaTek processor instead of the tried and tested Qualcomm processor. This could be a considerable gamble for Xiaomi but MediaTek India MD, Anku Jain, believes that the phone will help change the perception of consumers about the chipmaker.

“Once the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes out, and users see the great features and performance it delivers I think the mindset will change and the phone will do well in India as well, similar to China,” said Anku Jain while talking to India Today Tech recently. He believes that the MediaTek Helio G90T gaming-centric processor inside the Redmi Note 8 Pro will change the whole game for Xiaomi as well as MediaTek.

Is MediaTek Helio G90T really that good?

On paper, the G90T is a significant upgrade as compared to the Snapdragon 675 found inside the best-selling Redmi Note 7 Pro. In fact, it’s a gaming-centric processor that’s comparable to Qualcomm’s own Snapdragon 730G gaming chipset. The chip comes with several premium features such as dual Wi-Fi + LTE connectivity and a powerful GPU. So it is definitely a massive upgrade as compared to the past Snapdragon processors inside the Redmi Note series models. For those who are interested, we have covered the MediaTek Helio G90T vs. Snapdragon 730G extensively in a previous post.

Interestingly, MediaTek’s collaboration with Xiaomi has been fruitful in the past. The budget Redmi 6A has been the best selling smartphone in India for the past three consecutive quarters. And the phone features a MediaTek Helio A22 processor inside.

But there’s a vast difference between the Redmi 6A and the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The latter is expected to be a powerhouse, and it needs to deliver on its promise of a powerful gaming experience.

Will it live up to the expectations of the users? Only time will tell. But for now, things look good. The Redmi Note 8 Pro has sold over 300,000 units in its first sale.

These phones have arrived with beefed up specs compared to the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro phones that were unveiled earlier this year. The main USP of the Redmi Note 8 series is that it is equipped with four rear-mounted cameras. Moreover, the Redmi Note 8 has debuted as the world’s first smartphone with 64-megapixel camera. Qualcomm and MediaTek’s history with powerful SoCs

Qualcomm is currently the leader of mobile chipsets. The best Android flagships out there are powered by Qualcomm’s high-end chipset from the Snapdragon 8xx series. Due to Qualcomm’s domination, MediaTek was forced to exit the high-end mobile processor segment in 2017, after releasing the Helio X30. And now it is trying to come back again with the Helio G90T. So it has to face a lot of prejudices and it is in a disadvantaged position compared to Qualcomm.

According to leaked AnTuTu tests, MediaTek Helio G90T  reached a total score of 281,033 points. That is simply amazing and it is very close to flagship chipsets. Further, it is a way better result than Snapdragon 730G which just reached 220,000 points. However, this does not mean that Helio G90T will be better for gaming.

The Adreno 618 GPU on board of the Snapdragon 730G scored 66,398 points on AnTuTu, while Helio G90T scored 79,755 points: we got the answer. According to benchmarks, Helio G90T has better performance than its rival even in its graphic performances. And note that Snapdragon 730G already has 15 percent better graphics performance than Snapdragon 710! However, despite being incredibly powerful and gaming-centric chipsets, both Snapdragon 730G and Helio G90T remain midrange processors. Indeed, you can get better performances in both gaming, daily use and multi-tasking with Snapdragon SoCs from the new 800 series.

Power efficiency: will the battery last longer?

Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G is built at 8 nm: a very efficient production process which reduces energy consumption significantly. So it will be a very efficient SoC and it should help batteries last long on a single charge. On the other hand, MediaTek Helio G90T is built at 12 nm, which isn’t a very efficient process. So the Helio G90T will boast amazing performances, but it will not be very efficient.

Redmi’s Lu Weibing said the Helio G90T is even less power efficient than Snapdragon 710 by around 10 percent. That is why Xiaomi opted for a bigger battery on the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

MediaTek’s reputation: should you trust it and give it a chance?

I saw a lot of people saying that they will not buy the Redmi Note 8 Pro because it is powered by a MediaTek chipset. After the excellent success garnered by Qualcomm and the poor performances of some old MediaTek chipsets, a lot of people have lost their trust in MediaTek. This is also why it was forced to exit the high-end chipsets segment.

But now we think MediaTek is releasing a lot of interesting processors, including the Helio G90T. This chipset is far from being the best out there, especially for its energy consumption, but we believe it is worth giving a chance to MediaTek due to the very promising specifications of this chipsets as well as its value for money.

Is MediaTek finally better than Qualcomm?

According to benchmarks, the new Helio G90T chipset by MediaTek is way more powerful than the Snapdragon 730G. But this is not enough to say that MediaTek has released a better chipset than every mid-range SoC by Qualcomm.

And we say it essentially for two reasons: first, benchmarks are not the only indicator to measure the overall performance of a chipset. There are other factors too like its performance in long gaming sessions, stability, and energy consumption. Further, the Snapdragon 730G will be a lot more efficient than Helio G90T, so batteries will last longer. Only after trying both of them on well-optimized devices, will we be finally able to tell you whether or not MediaTek did a better job than Qualcomm.

At July end, MediaTek had unleashed the gaming-centric Helio G90 and Helio G90T chipsets. After its announcement, Redmi as well as its General Manager Lu Weibing had revealed through Weibo that the company will be releasing Helio G90T powered Redmi phones in future. Since then the rumor mill has been speculating that the Redmi Note 8 or Note 8 Pro could be equipped with the Helio G90T. The official confirmation has come from MediaTek now. It has revealed through Weibo that Helio G90T powered Redmi Note 8 series will be debuting on Aug. 29.

The poster released by MediaTek states that the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro will be both powered by Helio G90T. However, there is a possibility that only the Redmi Note 8 Pro could be equipped with Helio G90T processor. The reason behind it that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is expected to come equipped with a 64-megapixel quad camera setup. Among the Helio G90 and Helio G90T processors, only the G90T carries support for 64-megapixel camera.

So, if the 64-megapixel camera sensor will remain exclusive to the Pro model, the Redmi Note 8 could be equipped with a different chipset. Since MediaTek is also endorsing the Redmi Note 8, probably it could be fueled by the Helio G90 that supports 48-megapixel primary lens. Before drawing conclusions, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know exact details on the camera configurations and processors for Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro handsets.

In terms of performance, the Geekbench and AnTuTu appearance of the 12nm Helio G90 had revealed that its performance is no par with Kirin 810 and 8nm Snapdragon 730 chipset. The Helio G90 includes two Cortex-A76 cores working at 2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores working at 2GHz. It includes ARM Mali G76 graphics that clocks at 700MHz and it carries support 21:9 aspect ratio display, 60Hz refresh rate, HDR10 standard, up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.

The 12nm Helio G90T includes two Cortex-A76 cores working at 2.05 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores working at 2GHz. There is Dual Wi-Fi connection support that allows the phone to connect to two Wi-Fi networks at the same time. Its other features include Call and Data Concurrency, Resource Management Engine and a Picture Quality Engine.

Redmi General Manager had recently confirmed that the company is working on Redmi Note 8 series. It is believed that the Redmi Note 8 or Note 8 Pro may come equipped with a 64-megapixel quad camera system. Two new devices have appeared on 3C authority. One of them carries support for 18W fast charging. It is being speculated that it could be the upcoming Redmi Note 8 smartphone.

As it can be seen in the below shown screenshot, an unknown Xiaomi phone with M1908C3IE and M1908C3IC variants have been certified by China’s 3C authority. The listing further reveals that the phone may come equipped with MDY-09-EK charger that supports only 5V/2V (10W) charging.

The other phone has variants such as M1906G7E and M1906G7T. Its 3C certification reveals that it could be shipped with MDY-10-EC charger that supports up to 18W rapid charging. Probably, this smartphone could be Redmi Note 8 or Redmi Note 8 Pro handset. There is a possibility that it could be an entirely different device. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to confirm on the exact identities of M1908C3IE/C and M1906G7E/T smartphones.

Rumors are rife that the Redmi Note 8 could be arriving as Redmi’s first phone with 64-megapixel quad camera setup. Speculations are rife that the smartphone will continue to sport a waterdrop-style notch screen like the predecessor Redmi Note 7 smartphone. The handset could be either be featuring a side-mounted fingerprint sensor or an in-display fingerprint scanner.

There are three camera sensors arranged vertically and on their right is an LED flash and a fourth sensor. It could be the first smartphone ever to feature the gaming centric MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. No other details of the Redmi Note 8 are known yet.

Redmi is expected to release Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro as successors for the popular Redmi Note 7/7S and Note 7 Pro phones that were released in the first half of the year. The Redmi Note 8 series may receive fierce competition from Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro smartphones. Realme is expected to release 64-megapixel Realme X Pro smartphone powered by Snapdragon 855+ by October. It is believed that Redmi is also working on an upgraded version of the Redmi K20 Pro to take on the Realme X Pro. The upgraded Redmi K20 Pro is speculated to feature 64-megapixel camera and SD855+.

A new Redmi smartphone with quad camera setup featuring the all new 64-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GW1 as primary sensor will be launching in the last quarter of this year. Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing took to Weibo to share a video to confirm that the mass production of the device has already started. The video reveals the arrangement of the four camera sensors. A new render of the purported Redmi Note 8 smartphone featuring a quad camera setup as shown in the official video is now doing rounds on Weibo.

As it can be seen in the above video, the unnamed handset that is believed to be the Redmi Note 8 features a three vertically placed camera sensors and a fourth one positioned on the right. The innards of the phone shows that it does not feature a pop-up camera module. It indicates that the frontside of the phone may feature a waterdrop notch. Also, the fingerprint scanner is not visible on the backside of the phone.

Weibing has claimed that the mass production of the Redmi phone with 64-megapixel quad camera setup began around half a month back. However, he did not reveal any details on the specifications of the smartphone.

The image shows the placement of triple camera setup in the upper half of the device with an LED flash and fourth sensor placed alongside it. There is no fingerprint scanner on the rear side of the device. Hence, it appears that the phone could be either featuring a side-mounted fingerprint scanner or the latest in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi will be the first company to launch a smartphone powered by the gaming-centric Helio G90T chipset from MediaTek. Probably, the Redmi Note 8 Pro could be the first phone to feature it. Other details of the smartphone are currently under the wraps.

Readers are advised to take this report with a grain of salt since it is not yet confirmed officially whether the Redmi Note 8 series will be featuring the much hyped 64-megapixel camera sensor.

The MediaTek Helio G90T is the more powerful version of the two processors in MediaTek’s new Helio G90 from the G-series of chipsets. It has 8 processors – 2 x Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05GHz and 6 x Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz.

It has an ARM Mali-G76 3EEMC4 processor clocked at 800MHz. It supports up to 10GB of RAM and UFS 2.1 and eMMC 5.1 storage. There’s also an integrated Cat-12 LTE WorldMode modem and Bluetooth 5.0 too. The processor also boasts additional features like HyperGaming Technology, Dual Wakeup word for AI assistants, support for displays with a 90Hz refresh rate, and AI features for the camera.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi has scheduled an event on 7th August in China which is related to the upcoming 64 MP camera smartphone. It’s possible that the company will showcase the technology behind the 64 MP camera phone and the actual launch of the device will take place a few months later.

A Xiaomi phone with the model number M1906GT was recently certified by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Other than this model number, nothing else is known about this phone. However, there are speculations as to which device it might be.

Some say this may be the Helio G90T phone Xiaomi/Redmi revealed it will launch soon. Lu Weibing, head of Redmi, was at the launch of the Helio G90 series and he revealed that the company will launch a phone powered by the chipset. He added that the phone will be available globally and not just in China.

Xiaomi India also tweeted that it will launch a phone powered by the new Helio G90T processor. We want to believe that this phone is the same device as the Helio G90T-powered Redmi phone. While the announcement said the device is coming soon, there are speculations it will launch this month.

In addition, apart from the Helio G90T phone, Redmi will launch a phone with a 64MP camera. There are reports that the Redmi phone will launch this month. Seeing as that has a more definite time-frame albeit unconfirmed, the Xiaomi M1906GT is most likely the Redmi phone with a 64MP camera.

Other than having a 64MP sensor, the only other thing we know is that the phone will have quad rear cameras. Its display size and type, processor, and battery capacity are unknown. However, more details should surface in the coming days if it is the device that got certified.

Shortly after the launch of the Helio G90 series today, the CEO of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain revealed that the company will launch a phone powered by the Helio G90T.

An attached image to the tweet says the phone is “Coming soon!” but there is no info with respect to the exact date.

There are speculations it may be one of the 8th generation Redmi phones expected to launch later this year but there is no evidence to back up that claim.

Personally, I think it will be nice if the successor to the Mi Play (if there is one planned) is powered by the new Helio G90T. Xiaomi can then switch the Play series to a line of affordable gaming phones.

MediaTek, today, announced two new mobile processors designed for gaming. The Helio G90 and Helio G90T are the first of the new gaming-focused line of mobile SoCs from the Taiwanese semiconductor company.

The Helio G90 series is built on the 12nm FinFET node design. They are octa-core processors with a combination of Arm’s Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores with a clock speed of up to 2.05GHz and a large L3 cache. There is also an Arm Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU clocked at up to 800MHz with support for a maximum display resolution of 2520 x 1080. The SoC supports up to 10GB of LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.

Paired with MediaTek’s HyperEngine game technology which has features like Dual-WiFi connection which allows you to connect to two separate bands simultaneously; Rapid Response Engine for accurate and lag-free touch input; Call and Data Concurrency which defers calls to keep your game’s connection; Picture Quality Engine which supports HDR10, faster and smoother framerates and low-latency while keeping power consumption low; Intelligent resource management for the best performance; and Intelligent network prediction engine which seamlessly switches between Wi-Fi and LTE for an uninterrupted gameplay when it senses one is degrading.

The Helio G90 series support single 64MP and 48MP cameras as well as dual 24MP + 16MP cameras with support for Night Mode and real-time previews. It has a Cat-12 LTE WorldMode modem with download speeds up to 1Gbps, support for dual 4G and VoLTE and ViLTE. The modem supports 3x carrier aggregation and 4×4 MIMO technology. There is also Bluetooth 5.0.

As expected AI also takes a front-seat, this is a MediaTek processor after all. The G90 series boasts a total of 1TMSACs of AI performance which will come in handy for AI face recognition and AI camera features.

The Helio G90 and Helio G90T are also the first SoCs in the world to have dual wake-up support. What this means is that they can listen for more than one trigger word to wake up virtual assistants.

There is no info on when the processors will show up in devices.
