HTC, once one of Android’s biggest pioneers, might finally be making its way back into the smartphone spotlight. At Dubai’s GITEX 2025 tech expo, several new devices from HTC’s Wildfire series have been spotted on display.

The buzz started after X user @hkyamane shared photos of the lineup. One of the images show four models, each with a distinct camera design and finish. Another image shows a rugged-looking model with reinforced corners, suggesting it’s built for outdoor use and likely boasts some degree of water and dust protection.

The most eye-catching device, however, appears to be a budget “gaming” phone. Its bold red accents and angular styling give it a clear performance-first identity. According to @hkyamane, this model is powered by the Unisoc T765 chipset, a 6nm octa-core processor. It’s paired with a 5,600mAh battery.

On the camera side, it sports a 50MP main sensor and a 16MP selfie camera — respectable specs for what’s expected to be an affordable device. While display details remain under wraps, a 120Hz IPS panel seems likely given the gaming focus. An official launch is reportedly planned for later this fall.

The revived Wildfire lineup seems aimed at emerging markets, much like the original Wildfire models from the early 2010s and the later 2019 revival. Pricing is expected to stay competitive — but we’ll have to wait for an exact number.

For a brand that’s spent the last few years focused mostly on VR and metaverse hardware, this feels like a meaningful step back toward its mobile roots. It has an open ear audio system that uses large drivers and virtual bass for spatial sound. A 235mAh battery pack powers this device, which promises to offer up to 36 hours of battery life or around 4.5 hours with direct music playback.

You can charge this device via magnetic fast charging, reaching 50 percent battery level in just 10 minutes. Although the official release date has yet to be confirmed, the device appeared on the Google Play Console back in January—and now, we’ve obtained the official specifications exclusively.

The HTC Wildfire E7 sports a 6.67-inch HD+ punch-hole display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. To recall, the HTC U24 Pro sports a tall 6.8-inch dual curved OLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

It is equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, which is paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. A 4,600mAh battery pack powers this device. It supports 60W wired fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. This model runs on the Android 14 OS out of the box. According to a previous teaser from HTC, it will launch the U24 / Pro smartphones on June 12. Now a poster of the HTC U24 Pro has leaked, revealing the design language of the model.

HTC U24 Pro design and rumored specs

As you can see from the image, the phone comes with a triple rear camera setup on the back and a centered punch-hole camera in the front. Two of the three cameras rest inside a pill-shaped module and the third one is separated from the other two. A pill-shaped flash is placed outside the camera module. Interestingly, the camera system has one less lens as compared to the HTC U23 Pro, which was launched in May last year. The predecessor had a 2MP depth sensor, which the company might have removed.

The screen also appears to be curved on the sides, however, it can be due to the reflection from a certain angle. The chin on the bottom could be slightly wider than the one on the top. The image also shows a rounded middle frame while the predecessor comes with a flat design. Based on previous rumors, it could be a 6.8″ FHD+ (1080 x 2436) OLED display.

speaking of the internals, the phone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, which is an upgrade from last year’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The phone has already appeared on GeekBench confirming that there will be a 12 GB RAM variant of the phone. It could be paired with 256GB storage.

What to expect?

To give you an idea about what to expect, the U23 Pro comes with a 108MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth camera. There is a 32MP centered punch-hole camera in the front.

There is a 4600mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. Unlike many in its range, the U23 Pro offers 15W wireless charging support. So the U24 Pro could also support wireless charging alongside a slightly faster wired charging and possibly a 5000mAh battery.

While the official poster image does not officially state that it is the U24 series, the tweet carries the tag “AllForU”. So this is likely the HTC U24 or U24 Pro models.

To recall, the HTC U24 and U24 Pro were spotted on the GeekBench listing. The higher end Pro model also surfaced on the Google Play Console listing. Based on what we know so far, the smartphone is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, which is paired with at least one model with 12GB of RAM. So it is an upper mid-range model and gets an upgrade from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 on last year’s HTC U23.

This listing also confirms that it runs on the Android 14 OS out of the box. A Bluetooth SIG sighting confirmed support for Bluetooth 5.3. On Google Play Console, it was seen with a 1080×2436 resolution display that could be a tall 6.78-inch panel. This would likely offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is expected to sport an OLED screen. The U23 series housed a 4,600mAH battery pack. So the U24 lineup might offer a larger 5,000mAh battery pack. HTC U23 Pro gets a new ‘Misty Red’ color option in Taiwan. This version of the handset arrives in a single 8GB + 256GB memory configuration priced at TWD 15,490 (~$490).

There’s a limited-time launch offer for the new hue starting today until December 27. Customers purchasing the phone during this period will get a shockproof case and a wireless charger for free.

Feature-wise, the HTC U23 Pro has nothing special going for it, except for some tidbits like IP rating and wireless charging. It has the standard set of specs that you find on most devices in this range.

HTC U23 and U23 Pro have been launched in Taiwan. These smartphones, which feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, are currently the most powerful HTC phones available on the market. Here is a look at the specifications, features, and prices of the U23 and U23 Pro.

HTC U23, HTC U23 Pro specifications and features

The HTC U23 and U23 Pro have a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a punch-hole design. The screen offers an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. For security, both devices are equipped with a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset powers the U23 and U23 Pro. Both devices have been optimized for HTC’s metaverse, called the Viverse. The U23 duo comes preinstalled with the Android 13 OS. HTC has scheduled a launch event for May 18. The company is expected to unveil the HTC U23 Pro smartphone at this conference.

We have been hearing about this handset for the last few days. It has now appeared online in official renders.

The renders of the upcoming HTC U23 Pro were shared by popular leaker Evan Blass who goes by @evleaks on Twitter. The pictures show the phone in two shades.

As per the images, the handset will arrive in white and light brown color options. It may also come in a grey color version that was leaked in real-life pictures earlier.

Going by the pictures, the phone’s rear design will be inspired by Samsung’s older Galaxy S Ultra models. The backside will include a quad-camera setup and the brand logo, while the front will be equipped with a centered punch-hole display.

Previous leaks suggest that the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. The SoC will be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. On the software front, it will boot Android 13 and will have support for the Viverse platform.

The device will be built around a 120Hz AMOLED display. It will sport a 108MP primary camera assisted by OIS. Finally, it will draw energy from a 4,500mAh battery and will support wireless charging.

The brands we are talking about are Oppo, Realme, Redmi, Lava, and HTC. The first four companies will announce products in India.

Both Realme and Redmi have confirmed to unveil budget models, while Oppo and Lava have revealed to take wraps off mid-range devices. On the other hand, HTC will release an upper mid-range phone with Viverse support.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Oppo F23 5G

The Oppo F23 5G is set to launch in India on May 15 (Monday). The device is said to cost ₹23,999 and will be available for purchase from May 18.

Going by the teasers and leaks, the phone will be a rebranded Oppo A98 5G that recently went official in Malaysia. Thus, it should arrive with features, such as a 120Hz FHD+ display (LCD), Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 40x microlens camera, and 67W fast charging support.

Since there was no F21, the F23 can be regarded as the successor of the 4G-only F19 with an AMOLED display. However, the newer handset will cost as much as the F21 Pro released last year.

Lava Agni 2 5G

The Lava Agni 2 5G will be launched in India on May 16 (Tuesday) at 12 PM IST. According to leaks and teaers, the successor of Agni will offer upgrades in multiple categories.

It will be one of the few handsets in the sub-₹25,000 price segment with a curved display. It will be powered by the newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset.

Interesingly, it will flaunt a circular camera island like premium smartphones and the back panel will be even made of glass.

Realme Narzo N53

The Realme Narzo N53 is scheduled to launch in India on May 18 (Thursday) at 12 PM IST. Not much is known about this product, except for its design.

As per the official renders, the device will look like an iPhone Pro model. The brand claims that it will be its thinnest smartphone to date.

The handset is expected to come with a waterdrop notch and 33W fast charging support. Finally, it will be available in gold and black color options.

HTC U23 Pro

The HTC U23 Pro will be unveiled on May 18 (Thursday). It will be the first smartphone directly from the Taiwanese company after a long while.

But unfortunately, as per leaks, it could be an ODM product since it will sport a generic design mimicking Samsung’s Galaxy S Ultra lineup. The main highlights of the device will be support for HTC’s metaverse platform Viverse and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset.

Other expected features include a 108MP primary camera, a 120Hz centered punch-hole AMOLED display, a 4,500mAh battery, and wireless charging support.

Redmi A2 Series

The Redmi A2 series is confirmed to launch in India on May 19 (Friday) at 11 AM IST. Usually, Xiaomi events take place at 12 PM IST in the country but this one will begin an hour earlier.

Since the Redmi A2 lineup is already official in some markets, we know everything about it. Just like its predecessor, the series includes two models, namely Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus. The latter has a fingerprint sensor, which is the only difference between them.

The phones offer an HD+ display, MediaTek Helio G36 chip, 8MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging support.

The brand has not explicitly revealed the name of the upcoming offering however the caption #seeUsoon hints at an U-series device. Key details of the device are also scarce at the moment. 

To recall, the HTC Desire 22 Pro debuted as the brand’s first smartphone with VIVERSE last year. It was a typical mid-range phone with Snapdragon 695 SoC with 8GB RAM, 120Hz display, and a 4,520mAh battery unit. It packed a number of VR-related applications. 

The upcoming HTC VIVERSE could be the HTC U23 Pro that has surfaced recently. The HTC U23 Pro is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and 12GB of RAM, a substantial upgrade from its predecessor, the HTC U20 Pro. Interestingly, the device in the leaked image features 8GB of RAM and a 4600mAh battery, suggesting there will be two or more storage variants. The U23 Pro is equipped with a quad-camera setup at the rear, including a 108MP primary lens with OIS support. A punch-hole selfie camera is located on the front of the device.

The smartphone maker is apparently working on a new handset which was recently spotted online. Unfortunately, we still have no idea what this device will actually be called, but we the new report has just revealed some of its key specifications. The new HTC smartphone has just been spotted on Bluetooth SIG carrying the model numbers, 2QC9200, 2QC9100, and 2QCB100. In other words, the company’s upcoming smartphone will be launching in at least three markets.

The listing also revealed that it will arrive with support for Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6E. Under the hood, the HTC smartphone will reportedly be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series chipsets. Although, it is unknown which exact chip model will ship with the new HTC phone. Notably, the headset offers a “glasses mode” that basically makes the headset even lighter. This basically lets you take off the strap and battery and replace them with a pair of plastic pieces that rest over your ears, which reduces the weight by around 240 grams. The new headset is priced at 1,099 US Dollars and offers the headset, one battery, and two motion controllers, with shipments set to begin in late February 2023.

HTC has unveiled a new phone named the Wildfire E Plus in Russia. Since 2018, the Taiwanese brand has been missing from the competitive smartphone market. However, it has been gradually launching “Wildfire” branded low-priced models in a few markets. The company has now unveiled a device named the HTC Wildfire E Plus. Well, the entry-level phone is a rebranded version of the UMIDIGI G1 handset, which was announced in June of this year.

The HTC Wildfire E Plus has a 6.52-inch display that offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT6739 quad-core chip that works at 1.5GHz.

The device offers 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The device runs on Android 12 (Go edition). For additional storage, it has a microSD card slot. It houses a 5,150mAh battery that supports 10W charging.

The HTC Wildfire E Plus has a 5-megapixel camera on the front. The camera module on the phone’s back has a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel macro camera.

For security, it has a side-facing fingerprint scanner and face unlock. It has other features like dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

HTC is apparently gearing up to launch a new VR headset from its popular Vive series. The company is planning on launching this new virtual reality headset just before the end of this year.

The company had previously announced two new products, which was the Vive Flow and the Vive Wrist Tracker. Both of these were announced back in October 2021 and January 2021 respectively. Now, the brand’s official Twitter handle share a new teaser that showcases the new VR headset that has a compact form factor. Looking at the tweet, the company shared the caption “Go small or go home,” with a silhouette of the upcoming VR headset.

Furthermore, HTC also confirmed in the replies section that “We’re working on something big… we mean small. It’s a new headset!” Interestingly, the company also sent a press release to TechRadar, which was somewhat resembled the announcement of the HTC Vive Flow, which was its “first evolution” from its Proton project. In other words, the upcoming VR headset might be the “second” evolution or next gen iteration of this same project.

As of right now, finer details regarding this product or even its naming is still unknown. For those unaware, the Vive Flow was a pair of VR glasses that was launched with an innovative form factor, but with an expensive price tag of 499 US Dollars. Despite its unique design, the company’s Vive Flow was criticized for its performance and limited immersion. So, we can expect the newer model to bring improvements in this formula.

For those unaware, the Desire 22 Pro is the successor to the Desire 21 Pro, which is the company’s series of smartphones that are geared towards the metaverse. It is being marketed as the “perfect companion” to HTC’s newly unveiled Vive Flow VR headset. As the name suggest the headset offers users a chance to experience virtual reality, which is what the metaverse is based on. Keep in mind that the headset is compatible with any Android smartphone, but the Desire 22 Pro might offer some exclusive features or functions.

Some of these new features include access to a digital wallet to help manage cryptocurrencies and even comes with a free NFT. HTC has scheduled an event for June 28 where it is expected to unveil its latest 5G phone. The company has announced the Login Future event and the 5G smartphone integrated with HTC’s metaverse called Viverse.

HTC had announced during this year’s mobile world congress that it was working on an innovative smartphone to be integrated with its animated virtual world, the Viverse. The launch of the lineup had suffered some hitches due to the pandemic and other issues. An April 2022 launch was inevitably shifted, but we expect the device to pull through this time. There are scant details about the smartphone at this time apart from bits here and there.

An HTC device got a Dutch-based certification last month. The model 2QBK200 was certified by Telefication, while a 15W wireless charger from HTC recently certified also adds little information. If these certifications relate to the expected HTC 5G phone, then we expect it to support wireless charging. The Viverse platform is the culmination of a strong partnership between HTC and an array of telecom companies. It is already functional in the HTC Exodus series of native blockchain phones.

HTC hasn’t launched a flagship phone in the past three years. It was reported in March that HTC planned to launch a high-end smartphone in April. It was also revealed that it would be a metaverse focused device. New information reveals that the arrival of the HTC flagship has been delayed.

According to a report by PhoneArena, the HTC flagship phone, which was supposed to debut in April, has been delayed due to COVID. It is good to know that the company hasn’t abandoned the device. Unfortunately, there is no information available on the specifications of the device.

The only thing that is known about the mysterious HTC flagship phone will be based on the metaverse. It is being speculated that the smartphone will be related to the company’s Vivo Flow VR headset in some way. It is likely to appeal to those customers who wish to use it for VR and AR apps.
