MWC 2026 introduced a wide range of new devices, from flagship smartphones to experimental concepts. Huawei led the announcements with the Huawei Mate 80 Pro, a flagship smartphone featuring a 3000-nit OLED display, variable-aperture camera, and strong durability ratings. The company also revealed the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2, a titanium running smartwatch with dual-band GPS and long sports tracking battery life.

Honor showcased the Honor Magic V6 foldable, notable for its thin 4 mm open profile and 6,660 mAh battery. Lenovo presented the Lenovo ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept and the Lenovo Legion Go Fold Concept gaming handheld, while XGIMI MemoMind One glasses and the Lenovo ThinkTab X11 rugged tablet also drew attention.

Huawei Mate 80 Pro – Best Smartphone

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro marks Huawei’s first global Mate flagship since 2022. It features a 6.75-inch flat OLED display with adaptive refresh from 1 Hz to 120 Hz and peak brightness of 3000 nits. While the brand has not confirmed it, the device likely uses Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9030 Pro processor with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.

The camera system includes a 50 MP Ultra Lighting main sensor with variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0 and optical image stabilization. It also has a 40 MP ultra-wide camera and a 48 MP 4× telephoto camera with up to 100× zoom. A 13 MP autofocus front camera sits in a punch-hole cutout. The phone uses a 5,750 mAh battery that supports 100 W wired charging and 80 W wireless SuperCharge.

Huawei also focused on durability. The phone uses second-generation Kunlun glass, a vegan fiber frame, and IP68 and IP69 protection against water and dust. It is rated to survive up to 6 meters of water submersion and high-pressure water jets. The device runs EMUI 15 globally, while the Chinese version uses HarmonyOS 6. The design includes Huawei’s Dual Space Rings camera layout with two circular rings.

The Huawei Mate 80 Series didn’t just win at MWC; It is also a declaration of return. The Mate80 Series represents a pinnacle of hardware engineering. The integration of the brand-new chipset delivers a thermal efficiency and sustained performance that outclass much of the competition. However, the true standout is the imaging system—by re-architecting the sensor layout and leveraging AI-driven computational photography, Huawei has effectively closed the gap on optical zoom, offering focal lengths previously unattainable in a consumer device. As for the rest, it is, quite simply, the most technically accomplished smartphone on the market.

Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 – Best Wearable

The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 is designed for runners and endurance athletes. It uses a titanium alloy case measuring 43.5 mm and only 10.7 mm thick. The watch weighs about 34.5 g. The display is a 1.32-inch AMOLED panel with 466×466 resolution and 3000-nit brightness, protected by second-generation Kunlun glass.

Huawei added a new 3D floating antenna system with dual-band GPS using L1 and L5 signals. The company says this improves positioning accuracy by about 20 percent in dense cities or tunnels.

The watch includes an Intelligent Marathon Mode developed with DSM-Firmenich. It offers structured training plans, pace charts, finish predictions, and digital pacing guidance.

The device supports more than 100 sports modes, including triathlon, trail running, golf, and freediving down to 40 meters. It also tracks ECG, blood oxygen, sleep, and stress.
The Lenovo ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept is a manifesto for the future of personal computing, recognizing a bold reimagining of what a laptop can become. By decoupling core components into swappable, intelligent modules—from AI-accelerated graphics units to hot-swappable storage and I/O expansions—Lenovo transforms a traditional clamshell into a living ecosystem.

MemoMind One – Smart AR Glasses

Built-in speakers and microphones support voice commands for AI chat, translations, reminders, and summaries. During demonstrations, the glasses translated conversations between Chinese and English and created reminders such as flight check-in alerts.

The glasses resemble regular frames but have thicker temples that hold the battery and projection hardware. Users see subtle green text overlays for notifications, calendar updates, and weather.

The glasses run a hybrid operating system that switches between multiple AI models on the device. Battery life is about 16 hours per charge, and XGIMI is developing a charging case for extended use.

While competitors force users to cross their eyes at single-square projections, MemoMind’s dual-eye waveguide display delivers crisp, natural text across both lenses—making augmented information feel like an extension of normal vision.

However, Huawei is releasing only the Pro version of its latest Mate lineup globally. The standard Huawei Mate 80, Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max, and Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate remain exclusive to China.

Huawei Mate 80 Pro Specifications

In any case, it shares most of its specifications with the Chinese counterpart. The device measures 161.85mm in height, 76mm in width, and 7.95mm in thickness, and weighs around 219 grams.

The phone features a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2832 × 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 460ppi. It supports a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. Huawei is also promising up to 1.07 billion colors and 3000 nits of brightness.

One key difference between regions is software. The global Mate 80 Pro runs EMUI 15.0, while the Chinese version ships with HarmonyOS 6.0. It comes in a single 16GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration. There’s no microSD card slot, so what you buy is what you keep.

The Mate 80 Pro includes a 50-megapixel main camera that supports variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0 and optical image stabilization. It’s joined by a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 48-megapixel macro telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.

On the front, there’s a 13-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera with autofocus. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording.

The phone packs a 5,750mAh battery (rated capacity 5,620mAh) and supports 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

The Mate 80 Pro also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, including protection against high-pressure water jets and submersion up to six meters for 30 minutes under specific conditions.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 support, Bluetooth 6.0, USB-C with USB 3.1 Gen 1 speeds, NFC, and a wide range of global positioning systems, including GPS dual-band and NavIC. The phone is available in both single and dual SIM models, depending on the region.

Huawei hasn’t revealed the pricing details yet, but the Mate 80 Pro will be available for purchase in Black, Green, and Gold starting today.

Huawei is set to break its recent streak of China-only flagship launches with the global debut of the Mate 80 Pro. The company unveiled this premium phone a couple of months ago, and it is finally making its way outside of China. So here’s everything you need to know.

Huawei Mate 80 Pro Goes Global on Feb 26

The Chinese tech giant has confirmed that it will be unveiling its latest Mate series premium phone on 26th February 2026. The company will make the official announcement during an event in Madrid, Spain. In this conference, Huawei will also showcase new TWS earbuds and its latest smartwatch. To recall, the Mate 80 Pro was first introduced in China in November 2025, and its international debut marks a significant step as Huawei continues to re-establish flagship momentum outside its home market.

The global press event is dubbed the “Global Innovative Product Launch”, which will launch the Mate 80 Pro, FreeBuds Pro 5 TWS, and Watch GT Runner smartwatch. Based on the earlier release, the Mate 80 Pro stands out with its Dual Space Ring design, which adds a bold visual identity that surrounds the rear camera array with a large circular camera module and a secondary ring below it.

Huawei’s teaser poster shows the upcoming phone in refined colour options such as Dawn Gold and Aurora Blue, paired with a near-edge-to-edge front display and slim bezels. On the front is a 6.75-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a 1–120Hz dynamic refresh rate. Other notable features include an advanced triple camera with large sensors and the brand’s XMAGE imaging algorithm.

Huawei’s Mate 80 series has started strong in China, crossing an estimated 750,000 units shipped in about two weeks after launch. This comes despite ongoing supply limits, especially for higher-end models in the lineup. Early demand has been high enough that some configurations are already facing long delivery delays.

According to Weibo tipster Geek Village Chief (极客村长), Huawei has been shipping Mate 80 units steadily since launch, but supply has not kept pace with demand. The Mate 80 Pro Max, which we have recently reviewed, is the most affected. New orders are being quoted waiting periods of up to two months, with some Huawei stores reportedly pushing delivery estimates to February 2026.

The Mate series has long been Huawei’s flagship line in China, and the Mate 80 continues that trend. The series is popular because it combines high-end hardware with pricing that stays below many competing flagships. Even with new camera hardware, upgraded internals, and deeper HarmonyOS integration, Huawei has kept prices within reach of a wider group of buyers. That balance between features and cost is a major reason behind the fast sales pace. The Mate 80 base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs CNY 4,699 (around $660 USD), and the Mate 80 Pro model has a starting price of CNY 5,999 (about $840 USD).

Local reports say the Mate 80 series is selling faster in China than recent launches from Apple and Xiaomi, including the iPhone 17 and Xiaomi 17 series. The strong start also points to Huawei’s broader recovery in the domestic market. Over the past year, Huawei has steadily increased its market share and returned to the top tier of smartphone brands in China. Its extensive offline retail network, a loyal customer base, and a consistent flagship launch cycle are driving this recovery.

If supply improves, the Mate 80 series could post very high lifetime shipments. Estimates suggest the lineup could cross 10 to 14 million units over its sales cycle. For now, demand is clearly ahead of supply, and Huawei’s next challenge is scaling production fast enough to match it.

Camera-related changes make up a large part of the update. Huawei says shooting has been optimized in movie effects and moon modes, with better stability when capturing moving subjects. Dynamic photo stabilization has been adjusted, and the Red Maple camera system now uses updated color tuning in certain scenes, improving results from telephoto and wide-angle lenses.

The Gallery app adds a new option that lets users delete photos only from the device while keeping them stored in the cloud. This is aimed at freeing up local storage without removing backups. Gallery desktop cards now support light dynamic effects, and a new custom album card allows multiple photos to be selected for playback from the home screen.

Huawei is also expanding Huawei Share support. Mate 80 devices can now send photos, videos, files, and contacts to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices, as long as the receiving device installs Huawei’s HarmonyOS Galaxy Interconnect app. Setup details are listed under Help & Feedback.

Privacy controls have been updated as well. Users can now limit app access to device orientation data, which helps prevent “shake” actions that can trigger unwanted ad redirects. The setting is located under Privacy and Security.

On the system side, the update introduces Outdoor Exploration Mode, adding gesture shortcuts for multitasking, quick app switching, split screen, and floating windows. Huawei also notes general performance and stability improvements.

The Weather app now shows dynamic icons that change based on local conditions.

The update is rolling out in stages, so availability may vary.

Design and Display

Build and Feel

All three Mate 80 models share a rugged IP68/IP69 build with premium materials, but the Pro Max introduces a more robust metal-backed design that feels notably higher-end. The Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro look nearly identical, though the Pro subtly feels more refined due to its upgraded camera housing and overall finish. The Pro Max stands out as the most luxurious, appealing to users who want a flagship presence with added durability.

Display Quality

The Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro use the same LTPO OLED panel with smooth 120Hz refresh and HDR Vivid support. The Pro Max upgrades the experience with a larger screen and a massive 8000-nit peak brightness, giving it a clear edge outdoors and in HDR playback. It’s slightly higher resolution also makes visuals appear richer. Between the Mate 80 and Pro, the display experience stays largely unchanged.

Verdict

For the best viewing upgrades, the Pro Max is the meaningful step up. Those satisfied with a premium display without extreme brightness will find the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro equally capable.

Specifications

Performance

The Mate 80 runs on the Kirin 9020, while the Mate 80 Pro upgrades to the newer Kirin 9030 series with a stronger CPU cluster and a more advanced Maleoon 935 GPU. This results in snappier multitasking and improved gaming smoothness on the Pro models. The Pro Max mirrors the Pro’s chipset but benefits from higher-end configurations and better sustained performance thanks to its enhanced thermal design. Users seeking heavier productivity or graphics workloads will notice the Pro and Pro Max pushing ahead comfortably.

Battery and Charging

The Mate 80’s charging peaks at 66W wired and 50W wireless, which feels adequate but noticeably behind the Pro and Pro Max. Both upgraded models support 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, making them far more convenient for fast top-ups. The Pro Max adds another upgrade with its larger 6000mAh battery, giving it significantly better endurance.

Verdict

The Mate 80 suits everyday workloads, but the Mate 80 Pro and Pro Max deliver clear upgrades in power and charging efficiency, with the Pro Max offering the strongest balance overall.

Camera

Main and Secondary Lenses

The Mate 80 starts strong with a capable triple camera system, but the Mate 80 Pro improves zoom performance through a higher-resolution 48MP telephoto lens with better stabilization. Image sharpness and low-light clarity see noticeable upgrades. The Mate 80 Pro Max takes the biggest leap with a quad-camera system including dual periscope lenses, one for mid-range and one for long-range zoom, resulting in more versatile framing and cleaner detail at extended distances. This setup clearly caters to users who prioritize advanced mobile photography.

Selfie Camera

All three models share the same 13MP ultrawide selfie camera paired with a TOF 3D sensor, meaning the front-facing experience remains consistent. The Pro and Pro Max, however, benefit from enhanced image processing thanks to the updated chipset, giving selfies a slightly more refined look.

Verdict

The Mate 80 Pro brings meaningful zoom and processing upgrades, while the Pro Max represents the biggest generational jump, especially for telephoto performance.

Pricing

The Mate 80 enters at around $700 and offers strong value, but the $900 Mate 80 Pro adds upgrades in performance, zoom capabilities, and charging that justify the higher tier. The Mate 80 Pro Max, priced at nearly $1100, firmly pushes into ultra-premium territory with clear improvements in screen brightness, advanced camera hardware, and battery capacity.

Each model aligns with a different user segment, but the value-per-upgrade ratio grows more niche as you move up the ladder.

Disclaimer:
Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, and applicable taxes.

Verdict

The biggest jump in meaningful upgrades comes from Mate 80 to Mate 80 Pro. The Pro Max is best for users who want every possible enhancement, especially display brightness and telephoto versatility.

Conclusion

All three phones share HarmonyOS 6, satellite messaging (China-only), and premium durability, but the upgrades become clearer as you move upward. The Mate 80 Pro adds faster silicon, better zoom, and faster charging, making it a balanced upgrade. The Pro Max extends these gains further with a brighter display, larger battery, and a unique dual-telephoto system that dramatically improves shooting flexibility. Each step up introduces meaningful improvements rather than cosmetic ones, giving users clear choices based on their priorities.

Verdict

Choose the Mate 80 for value, the Mate 80 Pro for the best upgrade-per-dollar, and the Mate 80 Pro Max if you want Huawei’s most complete flagship experience. Honestly, Mate 80 Pro offers the best upgrade-for-price balance, while the Pro Max is ideal only if you want Huawei’s most advanced camera and display package.

Huawei Mate 80 Pro and Google Pixel 9 Pro represent two very different flagship philosophies, making this comparison especially relevant for buyers choosing between cutting-edge hardware innovation and long-term software reliability. These phones attract power users, mobile photographers, and anyone seeking a premium experience with distinct ecosystem strengths. Comparing them matters because each excels in areas the other approaches differently, helping buyers decide whether they prefer Huawei’s fast-evolving hardware-first strategy or Google’s polished, software-driven consistency.

Design and Display

Build and Feel

Huawei’s Mate 80 Pro arrives as a newer flagship with a tougher overall construction, offering high-grade durability and a more modern materials mix. Its side-mounted biometrics and fiber-backed finish give it a firmer, more confident hand feel. The Pixel 9 Pro sticks to its familiar glass-and-metal approach, but its cleaner shape and more refined build still feel premium. Pixel’s design leans minimalistic, while Huawei feels engineered for rugged long-term use, especially with its higher water-resistance rating.

Display Quality

Huawei’s LTPO OLED delivers richer motion handling thanks to high-frequency PWM and HDR Vivid certification, creating a more comfortable viewing experience. Pixel counters with stronger peak brightness and excellent color accuracy, ideal for outdoor readability. Despite being older, Pixel’s tuning remains one of the most balanced in the segment.

Verdict

Huawei’s display feels more advanced overall, while Pixel prioritizes brightness and color precision. Those wanting a fresher design approach may lean toward Huawei; those seeking calibrated accuracy may prefer Pixel.

Specifications

Performance

The Mate 80 Pro uses Huawei’s latest Kirin 9030 series chipsets, giving it an efficiency boost that reflects its newer-generation architecture. Everyday operations feel smoother due to HarmonyOS optimizations. Pixel’s Tensor G4 delivers strong on-device AI and camera computation, but as a 2024 chipset, it lacks the raw efficiency gains newer silicon tends to bring. Still, Pixel’s software longevity, up to seven major Android upgrades, makes it appealing for long-term use.

Battery and Charging

Huawei easily dominates charging and endurance with a significantly larger cell and extremely fast wired and wireless speeds. Pixel provides respectable endurance, but its charging system feels conservative next to Huawei’s rapid power delivery and advanced reverse charging features.

Verdict

For power users and heavy multitaskers, Huawei feels clearly more future-ready. Pixel’s strength lies in long-term software support rather than hardware muscle.

Camera

Main and Secondary Lenses

Huawei’s camera system leans heavily on variable aperture flexibility and strong periscope optics, delivering more consistent low-light and portrait depth control. Its color accuracy has also improved, giving images a more natural dynamic range. Pixel 9 Pro offers excellent computational photography with 5x optical zoom and features like Zoom Enhance and Pixel Shift.

While Huawei relies more on hardware upgrades, Pixel compensates through software brilliance, though being a 2024 model, its hardware now faces stiffer competition from Huawei’s newer sensor tuning.

Selfie Camera

Huawei’s dual-module setup with TOF depth sensing gives it superior facial mapping and more reliable autofocus. Pixel’s high-resolution 42MP shooter produces sharper selfies with excellent skin tones, making it better for social media clarity.

Verdict

Huawei feels more versatile for mixed lighting and telephoto precision, while Pixel still leads in natural processing and selfie sharpness.

Pricing

Huawei positions the Mate 80 Pro at around $900, offering newer hardware, faster charging, and a more advanced camera system at a lower launch price. Pixel 9 Pro, at roughly $1000, costs more despite using a 2024 chipset and slower charging options.

However, Google’s extensive update roadmap adds long-term value, particularly for users who prioritize software stability and global app compatibility. Huawei’s appeal is stronger for buyers seeking cutting-edge hardware per dollar, while Pixel caters to those who value ecosystem consistency and premium computational photography.

Disclaimer:
Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, and applicable taxes.

Conclusion

Huawei stands out with satellite messaging (regional), ultra-fast charging, variable aperture optics, and high-frequency PWM for eye comfort. Its position as the newer device gives it clear hardware advantages.

Pixel counters with unmatched software support, UWB capabilities, polished computational photography, and reliable global services, areas where Huawei’s ecosystem remains more region-dependent.

Verdict

Huawei Mate 80 Pro feels like the stronger hardware-focused choice, offering more innovation at a lower price. Google Pixel 9 Pro remains the better pick for users prioritizing long-term updates, stable Google services, and computational imaging finesse.

Both are excellent, but the Mate 80 Pro feels more forward-leaning, while the Pixel maintains a premium, consistent experience. If you travel internationally or rely heavily on Google services, Pixel 9 Pro is the safer and more convenient choice. Huawei makes sense mainly if you stay within regions where its ecosystem is fully supported.

Buyers comparing these two are usually looking for a reliable flagship that fits their daily needs, whether that means stronger performance, better photos, or a longer-lasting device. This comparison helps make that choice clearer by showing what each phone does best.

Major Features:

Feature

Huawei Mate 80 Pro

Google Pixel 10 Pro

Winner

Performance

Kirin 9030 series, efficiency-focused

Tensor G5, stronger AI & raw power

Pixel 10 Pro

Battery & Charging

5750 mAh, 100W wired, 80W wireless

4870 mAh, 30W wired, 15W wireless

Mate 80 Pro

Main Camera

50MP variable aperture, 4x optical zoom

50MP main, stronger computational HDR

Tie (Hardware vs Software)

Zoom Capability

48MP periscope, 4x

48MP periscope, 5x + Zoom Enhance

Pixel 10 Pro

Price

~$900

~$1000

Mate 80 Pro

Design and Display

Build and Feel

The Mate 80 Pro delivers a more rugged and durable impression thanks to its tougher water-resistance rating and reinforced materials, making it feel engineered for harsher conditions. Its curved aesthetics and premium finish give it a refined, flagship character. The Pixel 10 Pro opts for a clean, symmetrical glass-and-metal design that feels more minimalist and polished. While the Pixel looks sleeker, the Mate feels more confident in hand, especially for users who value long-term durability and a distinctive flagship identity.

Display Quality

Huawei’s LTPO OLED offers vivid colors, smoother transitions, and strong brightness control backed by high-frequency PWM for comfortable viewing. The larger canvas also provides a more immersive feel for content. Google’s LTPO OLED panel counters with higher peak brightness, richer HDR handling, and sharper density, making it better suited for outdoor visibility and detailed media. Both are premium, but one leans toward eye comfort and immersion while the other emphasizes pure clarity and brightness.

Verdict

Mate 80 Pro wins for durability and immersive visuals, while Pixel 10 Pro edges ahead in brightness and HDR precision.

Specifications

Performance

The Mate 80 Pro’s Kirin 9030 series focuses on balanced efficiency, smooth daily use, and reliable thermals. It feels optimized for sustained performance rather than peak bursts. In contrast, the Pixel 10 Pro’s Tensor G5 brings stronger raw power, better AI processing, and superior imaging computation. This gives the Pixel an advantage in multitasking speed and future software expansion. For demanding tasks or AI-driven workflows, the Pixel simply feels more capable.

Battery and Charging

Huawei offers a significantly larger battery with extremely fast wired and wireless charging, delivering quicker turnaround and better endurance across mixed usage. The Pixel’s smaller battery and slower charging mean it lasts a full day, but doesn’t match Huawei’s stamina or convenience. Pixel users gain the benefits of Qi2 magnetic charging and efficient standby, but the Mate’s combination of capacity and charging power feels more practical for heavy users.

Verdict

Pixel 10 Pro wins on raw performance and AI power; Mate 80 Pro dominates battery life and charging speed.

Camera

Main and Secondary Lenses

The Mate 80 Pro features a flexible triple-camera system with a variable aperture main lens and strong periscope zoom, delivering natural depth and excellent low-light control. Its color science leans toward rich tones, giving photos a more expressive character. The Pixel 10 Pro relies on computational mastery with consistent results, sharper daytime images, and enhanced telephoto clarity thanks to advanced zoom algorithms. It feels more reliable in tricky dynamic scenes where software makes a difference.

Selfie Camera

Huawei’s ultrawide autofocus selfie system with 3D sensing offers versatility and excellent facial depth mapping, making it ideal for group shots or accurate biometric use. Google’s high-resolution 42MP selfie camera excels in detail and stabilization, producing crisp portraits and smooth video. The Pixel feels stronger for creators who prioritize detail, while Huawei offers a more adaptive selfie experience.

Verdict

Pixel 10 Pro wins for consistent computational results; Mate 80 Pro edges ahead in versatility and depth-driven creativity.

Pricing

The Mate 80 Pro comes in at approximately $900, undercutting the Pixel 10 Pro’s $1000 price point while offering stronger battery life, faster charging, and a more rugged build. This makes Huawei’s flagship feel like the better value for users seeking endurance, versatility, and premium hardware at a more accessible cost. The Pixel justifies its higher price with superior AI performance, longer software support, and computational imaging benefits.

Buyers focused on software longevity and intelligent features may find the premium worthwhile, while hardware-first users will see more value in Huawei’s approach.

Disclaimer:
Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, and applicable taxes.

Conclusion

Huawei’s standouts include ultra-fast charging, satellite messaging (region-specific), variable aperture photography, and strong durability. These features cater to users who want independence from power outlets, flexibility in photography, and a device built for demanding environments. Google’s strengths lie in extended software updates, advanced AI tools, cloud-enhanced video, and UWB support, creating a smarter, more connected experience. Each device leans into a different philosophy; Huawei prioritizes hardware dominance, while Google elevates intelligence and computational power.

Verdict

Choose the Mate 80 Pro for superior battery performance, a rugged design, and flexible photography capabilities. Choose the Pixel 10 Pro for stronger AI processing, longer software support, and consistently sharp imaging.

Huawei has launched new micro-pump liquid cooling cases for its latest Mate 80 series smartphones in China. The new accessory supports the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, and Mate 80 Pro Max models. Huawei has priced each version at 299 yuan ($42) and says the design improves on the earlier cases built for the Mate 70 and Mate 60 series.

The case now adopts a full-cover structure instead of the partial design used in previous generations. The upgraded layout allows the entire back surface of the phone to cool more evenly.

Huawei has designed the case with a slim and lightweight PU build to maintain a comfortable in-hand feel. It includes a transparent window on the lower rear section that makes the internal liquid circulation system visible. The window gives the case a more high-tech and futuristic look.

The internal hardware uses an ultra-thin liquid cooling layer paired with a high-precision micro-pump. The system relies on a high-efficiency heat absorption sheet that helps reduce the phone’s surface temperature during heavy workloads. The case keeps the device cooler in scenarios like gaming, video rendering, or using navigation at high brightness.

The micro-pump runs automatically and adjusts its behavior based on the phone’s temperature and workload. It turns on or shuts down without any manual input, since the case does not include a physical switch. The system draws power wirelessly from the smartphone through reverse wireless charging, so the case does not require separate cables or an external power source.

The accessory is currently listed on Vmall for sale in China.

These premium devices feature the brand’s in-house silicon, bold designs, and cutting edge camera and display technology. With four distinct models, Huawei is trying to cover all bases. So here’s a quick breakdown of what the Mate 80 series brings to the table.

Meet the Mate 80 Lineup

The Mate 80 Series comprises four variants: Huawei Mate 80, Huawei Mate 80 Pro, Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max, and Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design. Each uses Huawei’s custom chipset and runs on HarmonyOS 6. The base Mate 80 is built with the Kirin 9020, targeting users who want flagship level design and features without spending an exorbitant sum. But the Mate 80 Pro and Mate 80 Pro Max step up the performance with the newer Kirin 9030/Kirin 9030 Pro chipsets. The RS Ultimate Design gets the Kirin 9030 chip as well, but pairs it with a whopping 20GB of RAM.

Dual-Ring Builds & Dual-Layer OLED

All models in the Mate 80 series carry a distinctive dual-ring design, combining glass, metal, and brocade fiber for enhanced durability. These also get an IP68 + IP69 rating for water and dust resistance, Xuanwu mid frame, Kunlun Glass for protection. The second ring below the circular camera module basically makes the infinity “8” figure.

On the front, the base Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro ship with a tall 6.75-inch OLED display with LTPO support for a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, 1440Hz PWM dimming, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and second generation Kunlun glass. While this is fairly standard, the Mate 80 Pro Max and Mate 80 RS Ultimate take things a step further with a tall 6.9-inch dual layer OLED display. This also brings LTPO, 1-120Hz refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and a ludicrous peak brightness of 8000 nits. The new dual-layer OLED implementation is a standout, promising better durability, color accuracy, and higher brightness.

Cameras & Photography

Photography has been one of Huawei’s strong suits, and it hasn’t skipped out here. Across the series, the camera hardware stays compelling, with the Mate 80 Pro Max and RS Ultimate offering advanced imaging systems. You get a main 50 MP sensor, RYYB color filter, ultra-wide, macro telephoto, and a super-telephoto lens that delivers up to 6.2× optical zoom and 12.4× “optical-quality” zoom.

Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max

The main camera is a large 1/1.28-inch sensor with 10 stop variable aperture, and there is even support for a new 3.3x teleconverter photography kit. This camera system is powered by Huawei’s proprietary XMAGE imaging tech. Meanwhile, the base Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro feature less advanced hardware. The standard model gets a 50MP main + 40MP ultra wide angle lens, + 12MP periscope telephoto shooter, and the Mate 80 Pro arrives with a 50MP main + 40MP ultra wide angle lens, + 48MP macro telephoto shooter. For selfies and video calls, all four models pack a 13MP camera on the front.

On top of that, features like AI-assisted composition, dynamic portrait tweaks, super-night shots, RAW support, and Starry-Sky portrait mode make the cameras versatile. These are also suitable for creative work, travel photography, and content creation as well.

AI, Satellite Tools & Extras

All Mate 80 models run HarmonyOS 6, giving access to a suite of AI tools and cross-device integrations. More interestingly, the Pro Max and RS models support satellite communication (via Tiantong & Beidou) and come packed with robust outdoor tools: maps, compass, waypoint tracking, and emergency messaging.

These are features that make the devices ideal for travel or outdoor enthusiasts. The RS Ultimate also adds further polish: titanium frames, enhanced glass protection, and even a smarter AI assistant that can learn your habits, automate tasks, and bring dynamic themes.

Huawei has announced the Mate 80 series in China today with in-house Kirin mobile processors. The vanilla Mate 80 is powered by last year’s Kirin 9020, while the Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and Mate 80 RS get to use the new Kirin 9030 chip.

Even with the same chip, Huawei claims the Mate 80 offers a 35% jump over the Mate 70, while the new Kirin 9030 inside the Mate 80 Pro delivers the same 35% performance bump versus last year’s Mate 70 Pro. There’s also a higher-binned Kirin 9030 Pro variant in the 16GB Mate 80 Pro configuration, which Huawei claims is 42% faster than last year’s flagship.

Both phones support Tiantong satellite calls and two-way Beidou messaging. More impressively, they’re the first phones to support 700MHz emergency communication even when there’s no network coverage.

Huawei says it can maintain a connection up to 13km away and can punch a signal even through three walls. You also get Bluetooth 6.0, seamless offline 2.4GHz communication, and Wi-Fi 7+.

Design-wise, the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro look nearly identical. Both feature a unique dual-ring back design and a full metal body wrapped in a nylon back. They come in four finishes: Obsidian Black, Snow White, Dawn Gold, and Spruce Green.

The Mate 80 gets a frosted aluminum alloy frame, while the Pro model switches to a glossy one. Both phones are relatively slim at 7.95mm and weigh around 217–219g.

Up front, the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro pack a 6.75-inch OLED display at 2832×1280, with a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, and 300Hz touch sampling. Huawei is also using its second-generation Kunlun glass, plus a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s Executive Director and head of its smart device division, shared the first look at the Mate 80 Pro Max in a short video posted earlier today.

Huawei traditionally offered “Pro” and “Pro+” variants in the Mate series, but this year the company is introducing a new “Pro Max” model that will replace the Pro+ entirely.

Huawei Mate 80 series boasts a new dual ring design

The Pro Max model has a unique dual-ring layout on the back. The upper ring houses a large circular camera module with four lenses, the XMAGE branding at the center, and an LED flash tucked into the outer ring.

Huawei Mate 80

Huawei Mate 80 Pro

Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max

Right beneath it sits a second ring that is nearly the same size, creating a figure-eight-like design. The lower ring is likely for magnetic charging or accessory interface, just like MagSafe for iPhones.

Magnetic accessories for Android phones finally debuted with the Pixel 10 series’ PixelSnap feature, so there’s no reason for Huawei to be left behind.

For those wanting something even more premium, the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design edition goes in a different direction. It features an octagonal camera module paired with distinctive Huawei and Ultimate Design branding.

Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design

Huawei has confirmed that the Mate 80 series, along with the Mate X7 and several ecosystem devices, will debut on November 25th.
The Huawei Mate X7 foldable phone is expected to launch in 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB versions, while the Mate X7 Collector’s Edition may come in 16GB+512GB, 16GB+1TB and 20GB+1TB configurations. Colour choices appear to include Obsidian Black, Phantom Purple, Universe Red, Brocade Blue and Brocade White.

Huawei seems to be refining the aesthetics of its next gen flagship, so here’s what we know.

Is This Our First Look at the Huawei Mate 80 Pro?

Expected to be the Huawei Mate 80 Pro

Just recently, the Chinese tech giant’s Mate 80 series had one of the first real live images leaked. However, these didn’t showcase the actual device and merely revealed the rear panels. Now, a fresh leak from a Weibo tipster offers us a first proper look at the Mate 80 series. While the actual model number hasn’t been confirmed, this is expected to be the higher end Mate 80 Pro.

Looking at the images, the Mate 80 Pro features a gigantic circular camera module. This island is surrounded by a shiny metallic ring and houses a triple camera setup and dual LED strips. The triple camera setup forms a triangular pattern with the top lens likely being a periscope telephoto shooter, while the two sensors on the bottom are the primary and ultra wide angle lenses.

The leaked real live images also showcase the smartphone in black and gold, while the earlier leak showcased the Mate 80 series in white. So Huawei might be planning on launching the Mate 80 lineup in bright new colors, apart from just the classic white and black colorways. Based on what we know so far, the Mate 80 series will likely include the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro+, and even the Mate 80 RS Edition that could offer a titanium frame.

DCS revealed that Huawei has three new models in testing, codenamed Voyager and Sagittarius. The Mate 80 (standard version), identified as VYG-AL00, has appeared in the database of China’s 3C certification platform. The listing has revealed that the device will support 66W wired charging.

On the other hand, the Mate 80 Pro models, with model numbers SGT-AL00 and SGT-AL50, have been spotted at the 3C certification with a 100W charger.

DCS revealed that the Mate 80 series’ engineering prototype unit reportedly comes with a central circular camera housing. Accompanying it is a dual-color temperature bar-style flash placed towards the upper left, and a symmetrical bar-shaped sensor on the top right. A multispectral lens is said to be integrated along the centre axis beneath the primary setup. This design marks a noticeable departure from earlier Mate devices.

In terms of release schedule, DCS indicates that the launch is tentatively planned around November, though Huawei has not officially confirmed a date yet. Previous reports have revealed that the lineup will comprise four models, such as Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro+, and Mate 80 RS.

The camera specifications are expected to vary across models, with the Mate 80 expected to house a 50-megapixel 1/1.5-inch primary sensor, the Pro version moving to a 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch unit, and both the Pro+ and RS adopting a larger 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch SmartSens 590 sensor. The entire series or all models except the standard model could be equipped with the Kirin 9030 chipset.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed that Huawei’s next-generation flagship, the Mate 80 series, is scheduled to arrive in November. According to the leak, the upcoming range will include four models and introduce significant upgrades across design, imaging, and performance, positioning it as a strong contender against the newly launched iPhone 17 series.

Huawei Mate 80 series: What to expect?

Huawei Mate 80 series leak by DCS

It can be said based on the above leak that the Huawei Mate 80 lineup is said to feature the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro+, and Mate 80 RS. Camera specifications differ across models, with the Mate 80 expected to house a 50-megapixel 1/1.5-inch primary sensor, the Pro version moving to a 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch unit, and both the Pro+ and RS adopting a larger 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch SmartSens 590 sensor.

Display options include 2.5D flat screens on the Pro model and possibly 3D face recognition, while the Pro+ and RS are tipped to test both 2.5D and 4D deep curvature designs.

The highlight is the Mate 80 RS, which may come with a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display. This display structure, with stacked emission layers, is expected to deliver higher brightness, lower power consumption, and longer life compared with conventional OLED panels. Alongside this, Huawei is reportedly testing titanium alloy frames and glass backs with ceramic-like texture for a premium feel.

Under the hood, the series is tipped to debut the Kirin 9030 processor with an internal design breakthrough. Battery capacity could exceed 6000mAh, with support for 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. Connectivity may include 5G and satellite communication.

On the software side, HarmonyOS is expected to deepen Huawei’s ecosystem advantage, with possible support for eSIM and expanded AI features. Analysts suggest these upgrades could help Huawei close the gap with Apple, particularly in power efficiency, communication technology, and AI services.
