For the first prank, the smartphone maker announced a new variant of the 16T, whereas, for the second prank it used its virtual voice assistant Aicy to tease the forthcoming 17.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-314036 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-16T-Daylight-Orange-April-Fools-Day-Prank-512x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="512" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-16T-Daylight-Orange-April-Fools-Day-Prank-512x1024.jpg 512w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-16T-Daylight-Orange-April-Fools-Day-Prank-150x300.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-16T-Daylight-Orange-April-Fools-Day-Prank-768x1536.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-16T-Daylight-Orange-April-Fools-Day-Prank-696x1392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-16T-Daylight-Orange-April-Fools-Day-Prank-210x420.jpg 210w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-16T-Daylight-Orange-April-Fools-Day-Prank.jpg 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Meizu’s official Weibo account announced a new variant of Meizu 16T earlier today. This version of the device comes in ‘</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/21/meizu-16ts-daylight-orange-is-inspired-by-htcs-solar-red-goes-on-sale-tomorrow/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Daylight Orange</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’ colour with support for solar charging. Thus, the company says the user need not to worry about the battery on this phone as long as there is sunlight.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As expected, this new version of Meizu 16T is merely an April Fool’s Day prank pulled out by the company. Although this one was a prank, solar-powered smartphones can be a reality. Last year, Xiaomi even</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/05/xiaomi-smartphone-patent-solar-panel-back/"><span style="font-weight: 400;"> patented a smartphone design with a solar panel</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. But we don’t think it will make it to the public soon as the solar charging tech on mobile phones is still not efficient.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Coming to the second prank, the Weibo account of Flyme OS teased its Aicy AI voice assistant to have evolved enough to leak devices itself and urges the users to ask ‘When </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/Meizu/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Meizu </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">17 will be released?’ As it is another prank by the brand, the answers to this question by the virtual assistant are sarcastic and do not reveal anything about the company’s next flagship phone.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-314035 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Flyme-OS-Aicy-Meizu-17-April-Fools-Day-Prank-512x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="512" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Flyme-OS-Aicy-Meizu-17-April-Fools-Day-Prank-512x1024.jpg 512w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Flyme-OS-Aicy-Meizu-17-April-Fools-Day-Prank-150x300.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Flyme-OS-Aicy-Meizu-17-April-Fools-Day-Prank-768x1536.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Flyme-OS-Aicy-Meizu-17-April-Fools-Day-Prank-696x1392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Flyme-OS-Aicy-Meizu-17-April-Fools-Day-Prank-210x420.jpg 210w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Flyme-OS-Aicy-Meizu-17-April-Fools-Day-Prank.jpg 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There have been multiple rumors and leaks of </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/meizu-17/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Meizu 17</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> over the past few weeks. It is expected to be the company’s first 5G smartphone featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.0 storage, 6.5-inches 90Hz OLED display, 64MP + 20MP + 12MP triple camera setup, 4,5000 mAh battery, 30W fast charging, and a 3999 Yuan ($564) starting price.</span></p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-286372" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/meizu-16t.jpg?x44794" alt="meizu 16t" width="900" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/meizu-16t.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/meizu-16t-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/meizu-16t-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/meizu-16t-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/meizu-16t-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p>Following the Meizu 16S flagship launch last month, the company was slated to announce a new gaming high-end smartphone bearing the Meizu 16T (wherein &#8216;T&#8217; stands for Turbo) moniker by the end of this month. Much to the delight of mobile gamers, the much-awaited gaming-centric phone is now available through Giztop.</p>
<p>Crafted to go toe-to-toe with the likes of the Black Shark 2 Pro and the Red Magic 3S, the Meizu 16T comes in the 6GB RAM+128GB ROM, the 8GB RAM+128GB ROM, as well the larger 8GB RAM+256GB ROM variants. You can order your favorite model through the Chinese online store that&#8217;s offering it in various eye-catching color options.<img class="aligncenter" src="https://www.giztop.com/media/catalog/product/cache/8/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/m/e/meizu_16t.jpg" /></p>
<p>Available in blue, green and orange color options, the 6GB RAM+128GB ROM model would set you back $359. If you go for the slightly larger model that ships with 8GB of RAM, coupled with 128GB of internal storage space, you&#8217;d need to shell out $399. This variant comes in blue, green and orange color options.</p>
<p>Those who don&#8217;t mind spending $40 more, there&#8217;s the largest Meizu 16T that packs 8GB of RAM and offers a hefty 256GB of internal storage space for you to save your favorite multimedia content. Bearing a slightly steeper $439 price tag, this model is also available in blue, green and orange color options.<img class="aligncenter" src="https://www.giztop.com/media/catalog/product/cache/8/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/m/e/meizu_16t-5.jpg" alt="meizu 16t" /></p>
<p>The burning questions popping into your mind right now would be what makes the Meizu 16T better than other gaming smartphones available in the market, or is it worth your money. Well, as someone who fancies playing popular games on the mobile phone, I think it is quite an irresistible gaming phone.</p>
<p>First off, it sports an extra-large 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ screen with a super mTouch in-display fingerprint scanner for added security. Under the hood, it packs a powerful 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Octa-core processor, along with the highly competent Adreno 640 GPU for a superior gaming experience.<img class="aligncenter" src="https://www.giztop.com/media/catalog/product/cache/8/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/m/e/meizu_16t.jpg" alt="meizu 16t" /></p>
<p>On the optics front, the Meizu 16T gaming phone houses a triple rear camera set comprising Sony IMX362 12MP+8MP+5MP sensors at the back. Upfront, it features a 16.0MP selfie camera that can also be used for video calling.</p>
<p>The Meizu 16T draws its juices from a 4500mAh battery that supports support mCharge 18W fast charging. Furthermore, the gaming phone runs Flyme 8 based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system.</p>
<p>You can follow <a href="https://www.giztop.com/meizu-16t.html">this link</a> to check out the full specification of the Meizu 16T and place your order through Giztop without wasting a lot of time.</p>

At the launch event, Meizu officials were observed boasting off that the display on their latest offering is low blue light certified by TÜV Rheinland.</p>
<figure id="attachment_284900" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-284900" style="width: 681px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-284900" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material.png?x44794" alt="Meizu 16T marketing material" width="681" height="876" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material.png 681w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material-233x300.png 233w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material-327x420.png 327w" sizes="(max-width: 681px) 100vw, 681px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-284900" class="wp-caption-text">Meizu 16T marketing material reveals TUV Rheinland certification</figcaption></figure>
<p>Soon after the event was over, the company <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/23/certification-trouble-tuv-rheinland-gets-back-at-meizu-for-false-advertising/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">landed itself in trouble</a> as TÜV Rheinland AG released a statement saying that the phone wasn’t tested or certified by their organization. For reference purposes, displays certified by TÜV have reduced <b>blue light</b> and are <strong>flicker-free</strong> to protect eyes and preserve the vision of the users and allow them to change body position without compromising visual image quality.</p>
<p>Obviously, such a mistake could lead to bad consumer reception for any newly launched product, therefore, Meizu was quick enough to release a response statement. According to which, Meizu 16T&#8217;s AMOLED display is jointly customized with Samsung who holds the TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certification (ID: 14190721437).</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/25/xiaomi-mi-cc9es-4gb-ram-128gb-storage-variant-pre-sales-begin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi Mi CC9e’s 4GB RAM +128GB storage variant pre-sales begin</a></strong></h6>
<p>Meizu further clarified that the TÜV Rheinland logo was actually meant to highlight just the display certification and not the entire handset which was the root cause of the misunderstanding. The statement also includes an apology to the certification provider and potential consumers of Meizu.</p>

<p>Following Meizu&#8217;s narrative, TUV Rheinland acknowledged the apology of the Chinese corporation and a senior official replied with the following statement:</p>
<blockquote><p><span class="">I am very pleased to see that Meizu Technology is responsible for this event and appreciates the rigorous and realistic attitude of Meizu Technology in product promotion.</span></p></blockquote>
<p>To wrap things up, the whole matter has now been sorted between two parties and Meizu, without any hurdles, can proceed with the sales of its latest flagship.</p>

<h2></h2>
<h2>Design</h2>
<p>We appreciate that, while other manufacturers are opting for notches or pop-up mechanisms, Meizu is still trying to make symmetric flagships with very narrow bezels and no sliders or motorized parts. Meizu 16T does not have any notch, neither a pop-up camera, yet it comes with a very high screen-to-body ratio. But thanks to its pop-up camera, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro has an even higher ratio, as well as a more impressive design in my opinion. But which ones you should go for mostly depends on your tastes. OnePlus 7T has a classic flat display with a waterdrop notch, nothing so surprising.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Display</h2>
<p>OnePlus 7T is not only the smartphone with the best display in this comparison, but it has one of the most impressive Full HD+ panels out there. It comes with full DCI-P3 coverage, the support to the HDR10+ standard and even a 90 Hz refresh rate providing a smoothing viewing experience as well as a better gaming experience. So you get better colors, more smoothness, and better overall quality. The silver medal goes to the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro which still comes with an HDR display, but it does not support the HDR10+ standard and it has a standard refresh rate. Note that OnePlus 7T and Meizu 16T have stereo speakers, while Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro has a mono speaker.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Hardware/Software</h2>
<p>OnePlus 7T dominates the hardware scene thanks to its Snapdragon 855+ chipset and an amazing software optimization. It is faster than both its rivals and it even boasts higher graphics performances. Unlike the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, it has a UFS 3.0 storage, and unlike both Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and Meizu 16T it runs Android 10 out of the box, customized by the OxygenOS 10 user interface. Meizu 16T comes right after since it has a UFS 3.0 storage, but just a vanilla Snapdragon 855 chipset. Each of the phones lacks a micro SD slot.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Camera</h2>
<p>The camera department is another aspect for which OnePlus 7T is superior. It is the only in this comparison to support OIS and it even has a brighter focal aperture, so it is able to capture more light for better shots in low light conditions. Right after we find the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro with a 48 MP triple camera boasting laser autofocus and 2x optical zoom. Meizu 16T loses this comparison and it does not even have a telephoto lens. Even the front camera is inferior.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Battery</h2>
<p>With a capacity of 4500 mAh, Meizu 16T provides the biggest battery and it will likely last more on a single charge. On the other hand, it has the slowest charging technology with a power of just 18W, so it will take more to fully charge it and that is not only for its battery capacity.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Price</h2>
<p>OnePlus 7T carries a €385/$430 starting price in China, Meizu 16T costs just €250/$278, and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro starts at €320/$355. OnePlus 7T wins the comparison without any doubt, but the value for money of the Meizu 16T is incredibly high and spending just €250 for a device equipped with a Snapdragon 855 chipset is flawless.</p>

At the flagship conference, the company revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-16t">Meizu 16T</a> comes with a TÜV Rheinland&#8217;s low blue light certification.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-featured-1.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-284901" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-featured-1.png?x44794" alt="Meizu 16T featured" width="498" height="478" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-featured-1.png 498w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-featured-1-300x288.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-featured-1-438x420.png 438w" sizes="(max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px" /></a></p>
<p>However, to everyone&#8217;s surprise, right after the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/meizu/">Meizu</a> conference, TÜV Rheinland released a statement saying that the phone wasn&#8217;t tested or certified by their organization. Apart from distancing themselves from Meizu 16T, the company further added that it would take relevant legal measures to deal with this issue.</p>
<figure id="attachment_284902" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-284902" style="width: 590px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-is-not-TUV-Rheinland-certified.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-284902" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-is-not-TUV-Rheinland-certified.png?x44794" alt="Meizu 16T is not TUV Rheinland certified" width="590" height="325" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-is-not-TUV-Rheinland-certified.png 590w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-is-not-TUV-Rheinland-certified-300x165.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-284902" class="wp-caption-text">Meizu 16T is not TUV Rheinland certified: Statement</figcaption></figure>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4>Did Meizu really lie about TÜV Rheinland certification?</h4>
<p>We haven&#8217;t yet heard from Meizu about this certification issue, but it is being said that the Super AMOLED panel used by the 16T is actually TÜV Rheinland certified. Meizu didn&#8217;t send the phone for independent certification to the organization, which is why they claim Meizu isn&#8217;t allowed market the 16T as TÜV Rheinland certified.</p>
<figure id="attachment_284900" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-284900" style="width: 429px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class=" wp-image-284900" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material.png?x44794" alt="Meizu 16T marketing material" width="429" height="552" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material.png 681w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material-233x300.png 233w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Meizu-16T-marketing-material-327x420.png 327w" sizes="(max-width: 429px) 100vw, 429px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-284900" class="wp-caption-text">Meizu 16T&#8217;s marketing material boasts TUV Rheinland certification</figcaption></figure>
<p>Whatever the case, we should see some kind of statement from Meizu clarifying the issue very soon. The company may decide to remove <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tuv-rheinland">TÜV Rheinland&#8217;s</a> logo and certification details from its marketing materials. Or else, it could send the phone to the organization and pay the necessary fees for certifying it.</p>

The &#8216;T&#8217; in 16T stands for &#8216;Turbo&#8217; and the phone will be a gaming-centric model that should take on the likes of the Red Magic 3S and the Black Shark 2 Pro.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-249630" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured-1024x683.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu 16S 07 featured" width="696" height="464" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16S-07-featured.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p>What&#8217;s interesting is that Meizu 16T likely passed through TENAA earlier this month under <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/06/meizu-m928q-4500mah-battery-183-grams/">the model name M928Q</a>. The certification revealed that the phone is still using the slower <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon">Snapdragon</a> 855 processor (2.84GHz) instead of the &#8216;Plus&#8217; variant. It had a large 4500mAh battery onboard and a triple (12+8+5MP) camera setup at the back. Moreover, it weighed just 183 grams, which is pretty lightweight for a 4500mAh battery powered smartphone.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/27/meizu-17-render-leak-revealing-even-slimmer-bezels-than-the-meizu-16s-pros/">Meizu 17 render leaks revealing even slimmer bezels than Meizu 16s Pro</a></strong></h6>
<p><img class="aligncenter" src="https://n.sinaimg.cn/translate/199/w600h399/20190929/7a95-ifffqup8424185.jpg" /></p>
<p>While the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/meizu">Meizu</a> 16T might use the older Snapdragon 855 chipset, the real highlight of the new device is said to be its pricing. Meizu CEO Jack Wong had revealed earlier this year that the 16T is expected to be priced around 2000-2500 Yuan ($280-$350), much lower than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-black-shark-2-pro/">Black Shark 2 Pro</a> and<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nubia-red-magic-3s/"> Nubia Red Magic 3S</a> which start at 2999 yuan ($423).</p>
<p>The current <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/25/meizu-m16s-hands-on-no-notch-just-the-good-old-bezels/">Meizu M16S flagships</a> are pretty good smartphones but in front of competition like the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/27/xiaomi-mi-9-pro-5g-hands-on-pictures-an-uncommon-combo-cheap-sleek-and-5g/"> Mi 9 Pro 5G</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/26/huawei-mate-30-pro-flies-to-the-top-of-dxomarks-ranking/">Mate 30 series</a>, it doesn&#8217;t have anything significant to set it apart. So it remains to be seen how the Meizu 16T can distinguish itself in the highly competitive Chinese market.</p>

It is supposed to come along with two siblings &#8211; the Meizu 16s Plus and the Meizu 16T which is specifically made for gaming. However, it has been reported that <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Meizu">Meizu</a> has canceled the 16s Plus. We don&#8217;t know the fate of the Meizu 16T but photos of the device have leaked, albeit a prototype.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-248695" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu 16T" width="1024" height="766" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-300x224.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-768x575.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-696x521.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-561x420.jpg 561w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>The Meizu 16s will have dual rear cameras but the Meizu 16T will add an extra sensor for a triple camera setup. It won&#8217;t have the ring flash design but a regular LED flash which sits below the cameras.</p>
<p>There is no fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone which means it should have one under the display. There are two screws shown holding the phone together which is unusual for a device that looks to be covered in glass.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-248694" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-front.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu 16T" width="1024" height="766" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-front.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-front-300x224.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-front-768x575.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-front-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-front-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-front-696x521.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Meizu-16T-front-561x420.jpg 561w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>The image of the front of the device shows the Meizu 16T will also have thin bezels like the Meizu 16s. It will also skip the notch. The picture is blurry, so we can&#8217;t make out more details.</p>
<p>There are no hardware features that show the Meizu 16T is a gaming phone. The design is simple and pales in comparison to other gaming phones on the market, but there might be software features or even accessories like a controller that attaches to the phone that makes it a gaming phone.</p>

<p>The Meizu 16T should come with a Snapdragon 855 processor, an AMOLED display and run Android Pie too. It may also pack a bigger battery. Meizu has confirmed it has an event on April 23 and we expect the Meizu 16T will be announced on that day.</p>

<p>A loose translation of the original post itself says “It&#8217;s time to show real technology” and also includes the hashtag #Meizu 16 Flagship mobile phone. This means whatever Meizu is unveiling tomorrow is related to the Meizu 16.</p>
<p>The blacked out text has gotten fans curious and since Meizu itself asked people to guess what it is, you can bet there are lots of predictions already.</p>
<p>However, someone was able to edit the poster to reveal the blacked out words and it says <strong>“World&#8217;s first holeless phone”</strong>. Going by this, we believe they mean the phone doesn&#8217;t have a notch or a punch hole. So what phone is it?</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-233351" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Meizu-launch-poster-edited.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu holeless phone teaser poster edited" width="750" height="1200" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Meizu-launch-poster-edited.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Meizu-launch-poster-edited-188x300.jpg 188w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Meizu-launch-poster-edited-640x1024.jpg 640w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>Since there is a hashtag for the Meizu 16 series, we believe it might be one of the upcoming flagships which include the Meizu 16T which is said to be a gaming phone or the Meizu 16s or Meizu 16s Plus. Irrespective of the one it is, we can be sure it won&#8217;t have a “hole”.</p>

<p>Meizu did confirm it will launch three Snapdragon 855 phones later this year, specifically in the second quarter. However, there is nothing stopping them from announcing the phone(s) early but still scheduling availability for the second quarter.</p>

Meizu CEO Jack Wong who has been vocal about forthcoming smartphones has confirmed that apart from launching Snapdragon 855 chipset driven Meizu 16s and Meizu 16s Plus smartphones, the company will be also debuting the Meizu 16T gaming focused smartphone.</p>

<p>Last night, Wong confirmed on Weibo that apart from launching Meizu 16s and Meizu 16s Plus, there will be a new smartphone called Meizu 16G where “G” refers to “gaming.”  Some netizens responded by saying that the “16G” can easily confuse people to believe that it is a Meizu phone with 16 GB storage. Then, Wong deduced “16T” as the new for the gaming-centric smartphone. He added that the “T” in Meizu 16T refers to “Turbo.”</p>
<p>While the Meizu 16s and 16s Plus phones will be powered by Snapdragon 855, Wong confirmed that the Meizu 16T will be another phone powered by the same processor, but it will be carrying a relatively low price tag.</p>
<p>The Meizu 16s and 16s Plus will respectively feature 6.2-inch and 6.5-inch displays. The Meizu 16T will feature a notch-less screen, but its exact size is yet to be finalized. Meizu phones hope that it will have a 6.2-inch display. The handset will feature narrow bezels around the screen and it will be powered by 4,000 to 4,500mAh capacity battery. The handset will be priced between 2,000 Yuan (~$295) and 2,500 Yuan (~$369).</p>
<p>What about the appearance of the Meizu 16s series? Meizu phones have been always praised for launching phones with beautiful design. Recently, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/10/meizu-ceo-jack-wong-approves-the-beautiful-fan-made-render-of-the-meizu-16s/">fan-made render of the Meizu 16s</a> had surfaced on Meizu community forum. Meizu CEO has claimed the appearance of the Meizu 16s won’t be very different from the fan-made render. However, there is no confirmation on whether the gaming-centric Meizu 16T will be also sporting the same design.</p>

<p>There is no information available on the launch date of the Meizu 16s series and Meizu 16T. Probably, these phones are speculated to go official in May. The first phone from the Chinese manufacturer will be the Meizu Note 9 phone that is expected to launch with 48-megapixel camera and Snapdragon 675 chipset.</p>
