Just as planned, Xiaomi has started rolling out the HyperOS update for the Mi 11 series – including the Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, and Mi 11 Ultra.

The update carries the version number 1.0.2.0.UKACNXM, and weighs in at a hefty 5.3GB, so make sure you’re on stable Wi-Fi before diving in. Alongside, it also comes bundled with the latest April security patch for added protection.

Most importantly, the update brings Android 14 and not Android 13 which we were expecting for older flagships, along with Xiaomi’s all-new HyperOS skin.

It’s important to note that this isn’t a wider public release. Xiaomi is currently limiting the update to internal testers, which is likely to gauge performance and iron out any bugs before a larger user base gets access.

Users can head over to Device Settings > About > Software Update > Check for Update to grab the latest firmware. Before upgrading, make sure you have an ample amount of storage and battery left on your smartphone. Otherwise, it may cause issues that may even corrupt data.

Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 13 stable update for the first batch of eligible devices in China. The latest version of MIUI also brings along Android 12 for these smartphones and tablets. After Mi 11, Xiaomi Pad 5 series, and Redmi K40, the update is being seeded out for the rest of the original Mi 11 and Redmi K40 family, in addition to Xiaomi MIX 4.

The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has recently begun to roll out MIUI stable update based on Android 12 for the following phones in its home country.

Just like the previous devices, the newest update for the aforementioned handsets is only live for the beta testers. If these early adopters don’t face any issues, then the software will be rolled out to the general public by the end of January as scheduled.

We expect the international rollout to begin sometime later in Q1 2022. For the uninitiated, the Mi 11 Pro and the Xiaomi MIX 4 are not sold outside mainland China. On the other hand, the Redmi K40 Pro+ is known as Mi 11X Pro in India and Mi 11i elsewhere.

Unfortunately, the above-listed software builds are not available for download at the moment. Xiaomi might release them exclusively for beta testers in the coming days.

Since the software is ready for multiple handsets, we think that the company may soon announce the date for MIUI 13 launch conference. At the same time, it might also open registrations for beta testers for whom these initial builds will be rolled out first.

MIUI 13 is said to fix issues faced by Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO users. But only time will tell whether Xiaomi manages to pull it off.

Back in July, Xiaomi started testing Android 12-based MIUI builds for some of its devices. Two months later, three of those handsets have now begun to receive the Android 12 software builds in the MIUI Closed Beta channel. These three phones are nothing but the Xiaomi Mi 11 series.

According to a report by ITHome, Xiaomi is pushing a new MIUI Closed Beta build for Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, and Mi 11 Ultra in China. The said update comes with build number 21.9.17 and brings along Android 12.

It is the first-ever publicly available MIUI build based on Android 12. Unfortunately, it is only limited to three smartphones and one region (China) at the moment.

Having said that, don’t expect the latest version of Android to arrive on the international variants of the Mi 11 series anytime soon. Because the software has just entered the public testing phase.

For those unaware, Xiaomi is probably the only Android OEM known for releasing weekly MIUI Beta builds for its devices. New features are introduced in this channel and they slowly make their way to the Stable channel in China, followed by other regions.

Hence, though Android 12 has been now made available for Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, and Mi 11 Ultra in the MIUI Beta channel, it will take some time(depends on issues) to reach the MIUI Stable channel.

Google has been rolling out Android 12 Beta builds for Pixels since May. Many partner OEMs have also released beta builds for some of their handsets. However, most of the software builds by partner OEMs are pure AOSP with some additions. But we all know that the final public release for these phones will come with the respective company’s Android skin. Hence, it is not surprising to learn that Xiaomi has started testing MIUI based on Android 12.

Xiaomi is part of the Android 12 Beta program. The company has released Android 12 Beta for four devices, namely Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11, Mi 11X Pro, and Mi 11i. Now, the firm has begun to test MIUI based on the latest version of Android for some of its phones.

According to Xiaomiui (via PiunikaWeb), Xiaomi has started testing Android 12-based MIUI builds for the following smartphones.

Unfortunately, it’s not known whether Xiaomi is working on Android 12 with MIUI 12.5 or MIUI 13. Hopefully, it’s the latter as users can get the next iteration of MIUI as well as Android together.

The Mi 11 series is Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone lineup for the year 2021. Originally, the series includes four models. Out of them, the regular, the Pro, and the Lite feature an identical rear design. The same design can be also found on the Redmi K40 series. Now, months after the launch of these devices, a couple of sketches reveal a design of the series during their development stage.

The vanilla Mi 11 was announced in late December 2020 as the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 phone. The device was followed by Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Lite, and Mi 11 Ultra in late March. In February, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi also unveiled the Redmi K40 series.

All these phones apart from the Mi 11 Ultra sport a unique camera layout, which stands out among the crowd. For the first time in a while, one could easily identify them as a Xiaomi smartphone.

Thankfully, Xiaomi chose this design over a couple of generic designs whose sketches have been shared by Digital Chat Station recently on Weibo. The now-canceled designs during the development stage of the Mi 11 series are too common.

As you can see from the sketches, the first one resembles the OPPO Reno series. On the other hand, the second design is similar to that of the vivo X series. Anyway, it is worth noting that Xiaomi had already used the latter design on the Mi 10T series last year.

For years, Xiaomi has been known for copying Apple’s designs. It’s good that the company has now established a unique identity in 2021 with its new design language. We hope that the firm continues to follow this in the future.

MIUI 12.5 is the latest version of Xiaomi’s mobile operating system based on Android. It is an incremental update to last year’s MIUI 12 with improvements. The company has been rolling out weekly beta builds ever since MIUI 12.5 was first announced. Slowly and steadily, the firm updated five devices to its latest OS by early April. Now, Xiaomi’s most expensive smartphones (regular) of 2021 – Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra have also started receiving this update.

The Mi 11 Pro and the Mi 11 Ultra are Xiaomi’s regular flagship smartphones of 2021. The duo was announced at the Xiaomi Mega Launch Event in late March. The latter is available in select global markets but the former is exclusive to China for now.

Like some Xiaomi phones, these two also run a common MIUI build. Hence, they are receiving the MIUI 12.5 update at the same time. As of now, the update is only available for the variant sold in China. It comes with build number V12.5.2.0.RKACNXM.

The latest software build for the Chinese Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra is currently in the Stable Beta phase. Therefore, the update is only available for a select few users. However, it should be rolled out to all users in the coming days.

Apart from Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra, the MIUI 12.5 update is also live for the following devices in China.

Last year’s Mi 10 Ultra was not only Xiaomi’s highest-end flagship but also one of the best premium phones released. Sadly, the device is China-exclusive and not sold in other regions. A leak has revealed that two of the phones Xiaomi plans to release tomorrow will also not be made available outside its home country.

According to the Twitter account, Xiaomiui (@xiaomiui), the Mi 11 Pro will not get a global launch as it will be exclusive to China. In a quoted response to the original tweet, the account says the new Mi MIX phone codenamed “cetus” will also be exclusive to China. However, both devices will be announced at the global event.

It is not all bad news. In a reply to a question under the original tweet, the account revealed that the Mi 11 Ultra will be available for global markets including India. This should be good news for those who wanted the Mi 10 Ultra but couldn’t get their hands on it. However, there is a chance availability will differ with respect to markets.

For those sad about the upcoming Mi MIX which is expected to be a foldable phone, if earlier reports are to be believed, Xiaomi has plans to launch three foldable phones this year. So there is a high chance that at least one of them will be available globally.

The Mi 11 Ultra is not the only phone launching tomorrow that will be available outside China. The Mi 11 Lite will also be available for global markets and it will be announced in 4G and 5G variants.

Since there is no confirmation about the info above, we advise our readers to take it with a pinch of salt.

Xiaomi’s Big Event

On Monday, March 29, Xiaomi will have a simultaneous event in China and the global market during which it plans to unveil a plethora of new devices. So far it has confirmed that it will announce the Mi 11 Pro and the Mi 11 Ultra, a new Mi MIX phone which may be its first commercially-available foldable phone, and a new Mi Notebook Pro. There are reports that it will also announce the Mi 11 Lite and the Mi Band 6.

ZTE’s March 30 mega launch

ZTE will take over on Tuesday, March 30 with its own mega launch. Unfortunately, it will be exclusive to China. The manufacturer has confirmed that it will announce the ZTE S30 Pro smartphone, the ZTE Watch GT smartwatch, its latest UI called MyOS, and a handful of other smart devices. It also said that there will be a surprise announcement on that day.

Another Galaxy S20 FE for India

Last year, Samsung announced the Galaxy S20 FE, an affordable version of its 2020 Galaxy S20 lineup. The phone was announced in two variants – a 4G version with Samsung’s own Exynos 990 processor and a 5G version with the Snapdragon 865 processor. India is one of the markets that got the 4G version; six months later, Samsung is bringing the 5G version to the country. The phone will be available starting March 30.

realme GT Neo

Last month, realme announced the realme GT 5G, a Snapdragon 888-powered flagship phone. Now, it wants to announce a second version of the phone which will be the first phone to come with MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 processor. The realme GT Neo will be announced on March 31 in China.

POCO X3 Pro India launch

One of the major events this week was the global release of the POCO X3 Pro and the POCO F3. Next week, on March 30, POCO will announce the POCO X3 Pro at a special event for India.

Xiaomi has already scheduled its 2021 New Product Launch event on 29th March and the company has confirmed that it will be launching Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra smartphones at the same event.

The company will also launch its new Mi Notebook Pro on 29th March and if the latest reports are to be believed, then the foldable smartphone from Xiaomi could also make its debut on the same day.

A new report claims that the Xiaomi foldable smartphone has already passed the 3C certification process, which means that the phone’s launch is imminent. Given that there’s a big launch event on 29th March, the announcement could happen on the same day.

While not much is known about the foldable smartphone from Xiaomi, it is believed that the phone could be a part of the Mi MIX lineup, which the company uses for its experimental devices. This upcoming 5G smartphone likely has a Galaxy Z Fold2-like hinge design, making the display fold inwards.

If the previous reports are to be believed, then the smartphone will come with a display size of around 7-inch with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and feature a 108MP primary camera sensor in the triple-camera module. It could run MIUI 12 and pack a 5,000mAh battery.

We expect that more details related to the upcoming foldable smartphone could surface online in the coming days, ahead of the official launch.

Xiaomi recently announced that the company will be hosting its 2021 New Product Launch Event on 29th March in China as well as globally. At the time, the company has not revealed what products will get launched.

Now, with a few days to go for the event, the company has officially confirmed that it will launch a couple of variants of the Mi 11 flagship smartphone, namely the Mi 11 Pro and the Mi 11 Ultra. Apart from that, the company will also launch a few more devices.

The company has also shared a teaser poster of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro retail box which doesn’t include a charger in the box. Further, the Chinese brand is calling the “thin and lightweight” smartphone “Android King.”

When Xiaomi launched the Mi 11 smartphone, it didn’t include a charger in the box but there was another variant of the phone at almost the same price which added a charger in the retail box. We expect the company to follow the same with the upcoming devices.

Both the upcoming Mi 11-series smartphones — Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra are expected to come with support for 67W fast charging. When compared with the vanilla variant, it is a step ahead in terms of charging speed.

Xiaomi has reportedly made a GaN charger especially for the two upcoming flagship smartphones and it will be a great deal if the company offers that for free with the purchase of those phones.

Apart from these smartphones, the company will be launching the Mi Notebook Pro laptop at the same event. There will be a few more products getting launched on 29th March but to know more about them, we will have to wait for a few more days.

Xiaomi is expected to launch more flagships in the Mi 11 series. Reports say that the company is preparing a ‘Pro'(M2102K11AC) and an ‘Ultra'(M2102K1C) variant of the Mi 11 with significant upgrades in camera, charging. Last week, the Mi 11 Ultra had received the TENAA certification. Today, a new Xiaomi 67W charger has appeared on 3C and it could be for either of these devices.

A Xiaomi charger with model number MDY-12-EF appears on China’s 3C certification authority. It has a maximum output rating of 20V @ 3.25A which works out to about 67W(Max). Apart from this, there’s no mention of any device’s model number associated with the listing.

Last year, Xiaomi brought the Mi 10 Ultra with 120x camera zoom and support for a whopping 50W wireless charging. Likewise, it is expected to bring a Periscope camera with 120x Zoom and 67W wireless charging. In a leaked video last month, the Filipino YouTuber mentioned the same in addition to saying 67W Wired and 10W Reverse wireless charging.

Ascertaining this, the leaker who shared the 3C, Digital Chat Station, also says that the device will come with a dual 67W charging, i.e., 67W Wired and 67W wireless.

Whether or not both the Mi 11 Pro and Ultra get the charging tech, it is welcoming to see Xiaomi leaping to higher charging in both and wireless segments. The company also unveiled an Air Charging recently but it is likely that the tech will take a while to reach commercial devices.

Anyway, the Mi 11 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ curved OLED 120Hz screen, a secondary screen beside the camera layout, Snapdragon 888 chipset, 50MP +48MP ultrawide + 48MP Periscope Telephoto rear cameras, 20MP front camera, 5,000mAh battery.

When Xiaomi launched the Mi 11 flagship earlier this ear, the company skipped the Mi 11 Pro which used to be a part of the flagship series right from time. The company didn’t even make any information available if it will launch a Pro version for the Mi 11.

A Weibo tipster has now revealed that the Mi 11 Pro will be launched in mid-March. He also disclosed that the flagship model will be launched alongside the Mi 11 Pro Ultra. This is still a rumor but it aligns with a previous rumor that the Mi 11 Pro will launch in March. Xiaomi is yet to reveal any detail about the launch.

The Mi 11 Pro is said to retain the design style of the Mi 11 but will have some upgrades in areas such as the camera and charging technology. The Mi 11 Pro will have a periscope telephoto lens and 120W fast charging technology just like on the Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative edition. Further, the Mi 11 Pro is expected to pack a 6.81-inch 2K quad curved display with a resolution of 3200x1440p. The display will support 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate.

Recently, a set of protective cases said to be for the Mi 11 Pro appeared online. The renders give us a look at the rear camera design of the Mi 11 Pro. The leak shows the camera will be similar to the Mi 11 with three sensors but at the bottom, the square-shaped module solidifies rumors of a periscope camera onboard the device.

In addition, the Mi 11 Pro will also have an improved main camera sensor. It will reportedly launch with Samsung’s latest ISOCELL GN2 sensor, which has 50-megapixels and a 1/2.12-inch ultra-large aperture which is currently the largest in the industry.

Xiaomi recently launched the Mi 11 flagship smartphone as the first device in the world to come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. Now, the company is gearing up to launch a Pro variant of the same.

Now, an image of the protective case of the upcoming Mi 11 Pro has leaked online which reveals the back camera design of the smartphone. From the image, it looks like the company is continuing with the design of Mi 11.

There is a rectangular triple-camera setup on the back of the phone, with the camera module placed in the top-left corner. The main sensor has a circular cutout but the sensor below it has a square-shaped cutout, which hints at a periscope telephoto lens.

If the previous leaks are to be believed, then the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro will come with Samsung ISOCELL GN2 50-megapixel camera sensor and 1/1.12-inch ultra-large bottom which is currently the industry’s largest image sensor.

The phone is also expected to have support for 120x zoom. Thanks to the ISOCELL GN2 sensor, the smartphone is believed to offer an improved night photography performance, which could be among the best so far.

It is expected to feature a 6.81-inch 2K quad-curved display with 3200 x 1440 pixels screen resolution, support for 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. The company has touted it to be the most expensive smartphone display.

While the company has not yet confirmed the launch date of this Mi 11 Pro smartphone, reports indicate that it will be made official later this month. In that case, we expect the company to reveal the launch date and start teasing its features in a few days.

A spec sheet has surfaced on the web that bares it all with respect to the specs of the Mi 11 series. The spec sheet also includes the prices of the yet to be announced Mi 11 Pro and a third model called the Mi 11 Pro+. We have not been able to verify the details, so we advise our readers to take the info with a pinch of salt.

Mi 11 Pro

According to the spec sheet, the Mi 11 Pro has the same 6.81-inch 2K display as the Mi 11. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate and a JNCD value less than 0.38 and a Delta E value that is less than 0.41.

There are three cameras on the back of the phone along with a dual-LED flash and a laser focus system. The camera specs for the phone include a Samsung GN2 50MP primary camera with OIS, a Sony IMX586/598 48MP sensor, and another Sony IMX586 48MP camera with 5X optical zoom and 120x hybrid zoom. The selfie camera is a 20MP camera.

The spec sheet says the phone will have a 5000mAh battery with support for 67W fast wired charging and 67W fast wireless charging. The phone will charge via a USB-C port (USB 3.0).

Other specifications and features mentioned are NFC, an in-display fingerprint scanner, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, an infrared blaster, an X-axis motor, and Harman Kardon audio.

The phone’s dimensions are given as 164.3 x 74.6 x 9.0 millimeters and its weight is 220 grams. It will have an IP rating but the source is not sure if it is IP53 or IP68.

The Mi 11 Pro will come in two variants according to the info on the spec sheet. The base variant which will sell for ¥4999 (~$773) will have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage while the top variant which will have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will sell for ¥5399 (~$835). Of course, the processor is the Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm.

Mi 11 Pro+

Last year, the top model of the Mi 10 series launched as the Mi 10 Ultra but according to this leaked spec sheet, Xiaomi will ditch the Ultra name. The phone is said to be called the Mi 11 Pro+ which shows Xiaomi is following the trend of other Chinese manufacturers such as Vivo and Huawei.

The Mi 11 Pro+ will also get the same display as the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro. The processor is the Snapdragon 888 and it is paired with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Where the Mi 11 Pro+ differs is in its camera configuration. It has a 50MP Samsung GN2 camera, a 48MP Sony IMX586/598 camera, a second Sony IMX586 camera with 10x optical zoom, and a 12MP portrait camera with 2x optical zoom. So unlike its siblings which have three rear cameras, it has four. The selfie camera is also a 32MP sensor and not 20MP.

The phone will have the same 5000mAh battery capacity as the Mi 11 Pro but have support for 120W fast wired charging and 67W fast wireless charging. The Mi 11 Pro+ should also have support for Quick Charge 5.0.

The phone will have an IP68 rating and will measure 164.3 x 74.6 x 9.5 millimeters. It will also be heavier than its siblings as it is said to weigh 230 grams.

The Mi 11 Pro+ will sell for ¥5599 (~$866) for the 8GB RAM version and ¥5999 (~$928) for the 12GB RAM version.

Xiaomi will announce the Mi 11 tomorrow but it has not yet revealed when the pro model(s) will be announced.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 launched as the first phone in the world to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor. Xiaomi has already sold over 1 million units of the phone since it went on sale at the beginning of the month.

Unlike its predecessor, the Mi 10 5G, Xiaomi didn’t announce a Mi 11 Pro alongside the standard version. Nevertheless, a pro model is coming in the not too distant future, and like all pro models, it should have better specs, and of course, a higher price tag.

In this post, we will talk about what we expect from Xiaomi with the Mi 11 Pro in terms of specs and performance, issues from the Mi 11 we expect to have been fixed, and also the reasons why we believe the phone was delayed.

Mi 11 Pro Specs (what we know so far)

The Mi 11 Pro is expected to come with a 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate just as the standard model. We don’t know what the screen size will be seeing as the Mi 11 has a pretty big 6.81-inch screen. Our guess is that the screen size will remain the same based on the fact that the Mi 10 5G ad Mi 10 Pro 5G both have the same screen size.

We expect the same Snapdragon 888 that’s found on the Mi 11 on the Pro model and it should be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There is also a possibility that Xiaomi will announce a 16GB RAM version that comes with 512GB of storage. Just like last year’s Mi 10 Pro, there shouldn’t be support for storage expansion.

A leak says the Mi 10 Pro will have a 5000mAh battery capacity which is a significant bump compared to the Mi 11’s 4600mAh battery. It should come with support for faster wired and wireless charging, and if reports are true, that should be 120W and 67W respectively. We also expect the phone to have support for Quick Charge 5.

Other expected features are stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint scanner which should double as a heart rate scanner as in the standard version, NFC, an IR sensor, Wi-Fi 6, and maybe even Wi-Fi 6E.

Mi 11 Pro Cameras

We decided to give the cameras a separate section as it is a very important aspect of the phone.

Xiaomi has set a high standard with respect to camera performance with the Mi 10 Ultra. The China-exclusive flagship sits at the third spot on DxOMark‘s list of smartphones with the best camera. The two devices that sit at the first and second positions are the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ and Mate 40 Pro respectively.

So what do we expect from Xiaomi for the Mi 11 Pro’s cameras? Cameras that are better than what we have on the Mi 11.

The Mi 11’s cameras are okay at best but they can’t match the Mi 10 Ultra which is Xiaomi’s best camera smartphone. A leaked poster alleged to be that of the Mi 11 Pro shows the phone will have four rear cameras and 120x zoom but we will take it with a pinch of salt.

If we were to take a wild guess, we’d say the Mi 11 Pro will launch with a camera configuration similar to that of the Mi 10 Ultra but with better optimizations. This means a 48MP main camera, another 48MP camera with OIS for the periscope lens which brings 120x hybrid zoom, a 12MP telephoto camera, and a 20MP ultrawide camera.

You might be wondering if simply copying the camera configuration from the Mi 10 Ultra makes sense, but it does when you realize that the Mi 10 Ultra is a China-exclusive product, which means most of Xiaomi’s international customers didn’t get to experience the phone’s camera prowess. What better way to bring that camera experience to the global market than via the Mi 11 Pro?

As we said above, Xiaomi isn’t just lifting the sensors but also fine-tuning them. The sensors can be optimized to take advantage of the Snapdragon 888’s Spectra 580 triple image signal processor to churn out better photos than the Mi 10 Ultra.

Issues from the Mi 11 we expect Xiaomi to have fixed in the Mi 11 Pro

Reviews have shown that the Mi 11 is not a perfect flagship. We covered the issues we experienced with our unit, and we hope most, if not all, of these issues, have been fixed ahead of the release of the global version next week. However, we expect even better performance from the Mi 11 Pro.

• Better software – one of the issues we noticed with the Mi 11 is app crashes. This happens with the camera app and some games. This is probably a software issue (MIUI) and we expect Xiaomi to have fixed them. While it is not uncommon for a device to have software issues out of the box, it is not a good experience nonetheless. We also expect Xiaomi to have fine-tuned its software to work better with the Snapdragon 888 chipset.
• Better cooling – the Snapdragon 888 is known to heat up quickly when gaming and when it does that, the processing power is throttled down to manage the heat which affects the game. While this is definitely an issue with the chipset (this is Qualcomm’s first 5nm chipset after all), Xiaomi may be able to better manage it with a better cooling system.
• Better build – the Mi 11 comes in a vegan leather version that is practically a plastic panel with a polyurethane coating. Our unit rattles when you play an audio file via the loudspeaker which points to a problem with the build quality. We do not know if this is the same experience with the version with a glass back, but if Xiaomi plans to release vegan leather options for the Mi 11 Pro, then it needs to note this issue and fix it in the new model

Why the Mi 11 Pro didn’t launch alongside the Mi 11

It came as a surprise when Xiaomi only announced the Mi 11 at the phone’s launch event in December 2020. However, we want to believe it was a calculated decision. Below are the reasons we came up with as to why the Mi 11 Pro’s launch was delayed:

1. Giving the Mi 11 its own stage to shine – If the Mi 11 Pro had launched alongside the Mi 11, it would have overshadowed it. See phones like the Galaxy S21 series – the S21 Ultra is getting more attention than the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus. By splitting the launches, the Mi 11 had the stage to itself and all the attention.
2. A headstart in terms of sales – The Mi 11 not only launched early but also went on sale shortly after. According to Xiaomi, it has sold more than 1 million units and that is for China alone. When the phone launches in other markets next week, that number is expected to double. If the Mi 11 Pro had launched alongside the Mi 11, sales would have been split between both.
   Of course, the total sales figure would probably have been higher but buyers would have had to decide which of the two phones to purchase, and the Mi 11 may not have sold so many units. However, by launching the Mi 11 and keeping a tight lip on the existence of a pro model, buyers will have no choice but to pick up the available model.
3. More time for development – Another reason why the Mi 11 Pro got delayed may be due to Xiaomi requiring more time for development. There is a possibility that certain components or technologies they need are not yet available or perfected, hence the reason for delaying its launch.

Conclusion

There definitely is a lot to look forward to in the Mi 11 Pro and if the additional development time means a better device, then a few months of delay is worth it.

There are reports that the Mi Pro will be announced after the Spring Festival holiday which means it may launch before the end of this month. Just like the standard version, the phone should be unveiled in China first before a global debut later. Going by the Mi 10, the time frame between the Chinese launch and global launch should be nothing less than a month.

Last year’s Mi 10 5G series had multiple models but at the top sits the China-exclusive Mi 10 Ultra. The flagship phone was released in August with better cameras and a faster charging technology than the Mi 10 Pro. Recent news from China points at Xiaomi planning a similar model that should be more powerful than the yet-to-be-announced Mi 11 Pro.

The source of the info is Digital Chat Station and he revealed in a Weibo post a few days ago that Xiaomi has a model higher than the (Mi 11) Pro, however, he is not sure if it will launch as the Ultra model.

The prototype of the phone is said to have a 2K 120Hz four-curved display with a punch hole for the front-facing camera. It will also have 67W fast wireless charging and a bigger battery capacity.

If the phone is already in development, then it most likely has a Snapdragon 888 processor powering it.

The Mi 10 Ultra launched with a 6.67-inch FHD+ display, a Snapdragon 865 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It has a 48MP main camera paired with a 48MP periscope camera that brings 120x hybrid zoom. It also has a 20MP ultrawide angle camera and a 12MP telephoto camera. The hole punch in the left corner of the screen is home to a 20MP sensor.

Apart from its outstanding cameras, the Mi 10 Ultra is one of the few phones that has support for 120W fast wired charging. It also has support for 50W fast wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. The battery capacity is 4500mAh.

The smartphone is expected to get launched after the Spring Festival in China, most likely in the last week of February. Now, ahead of the launch, details about the device are surfacing online, the latest being information about its battery.

As per the report, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro will come powered by a 5,000mAh battery. It is also said that the company has opted for a dual-call battery configuration, enabling a more effective faster-charging solution.

It is said that the company could be offering a monstrous 200W fast charging support on the Mi 11 Pro along with 67W wireless charging. There’s a possibility that the phone may come with 120W fast charging and 80W wireless charging.

As for the other specifications, the device is expected to feature a 6.81-inch AMOLED panel — the same screen that is available on the Xiaomi Mi 11. However, it is expected to have a Quad HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate support, and a 480Hz touch sampling rate.

Under the hood, the device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. In the camera department, there will be a quad-camera setup on the back, likely with Sony IMX766 as the main sensor and 120x zoom support.

In the software department, the phone is likely to be running the latest Android 11 operating system along with the company’s own MIUI custom user interface on top. With just a few weeks to go before it gets launched officially, we expect to know more about the smartphone in the coming days.

Xiaomi introduced a 50W Wireless Charging with the Mi 10 Ultra. Amidst reports of companies working for higher power output, it surprised everyone with a commercial product back in 2020. Today, the company has teased another technology that could be an upgrade to the older charging tech.

Xiaomi, in an official post on Weibo, has teased a new technology today. The post and the image say that this tech will be ground-breaking innovation. Accordingly, the image also represents what looks like a charging animation. There is a possibility that Xiaomi will reveal more about a new charging technology tomorrow.

Parallelly, XDAdevelopers have found that Xiaomi is working on two phones with 67W Wireless charging. As per their report, Xiaomi tipster kacskrz has found new string arrays on MIUI 12.5 beta build. It has the title “keyguard_wireless_strong_charge_67w” with a logo and two codenames- “star” and “mars”.

The report says that “star” will have a model number ending in K1 while “mars” will end with K1A. Considering the relation in codenames, it could be the next flagships of Xiaomi- Mi 11 Pro, and Mi 11 Ultra. While the latter is just speculation, according to a  XiaomiUI Telegram Group, Mi 11 Pro’s codename is “star”.

This corroborates with the report and hence, Mi 11 Pro could have upgraded wireless charging than Mi 11’s 50W. Meanwhile, tipster Digital Chat Station hints that Xiaomi’s new tech might be called “Air Charging”. While the possibility of a non-contact charging is very unlikely, the naming could just be for differentiating with older tech.

Earlier this month, we saw reports of Xiaomi introducing 80W wireless charging tech in the first half of 2021. And just like XDA says this tech could have limits up to 67W to manage temperature and battery life.

Either way, with reports of Mi 11 Pro launching on February 12, 2021(mid-Feb), and Xiaomi teasing a new technology right on time, we can’t rule out the possibility of Mi 11 Pro getting it. Let’s wait for official news tomorrow to put an end to these speculations.

Instead of the triple-camera setup on the Mi 11, the Pro variant will come with a quad-camera configuration on the back panel. Also, the company seems to have ditched the design of the vertically-aligned sensor found on Mi 10 Pro to a 2×2 grid design.

As for the other specifications, reports indicate that the Mi 11 Pro smartphone will have the same display as the Mi 11. It will feature a 6.81-inch 2K curved display offering a 120Hz refresh rate, 515PPI pixel density, and a peak brightness of 1500nits. In the software department, the phone is likely to be running the latest Android 11 operating system along with the company’s own MIUI custom user interface on top. Back in late November, an MIUI 12 code exposed Xiaomi to be working on a smartphone with a QHD+ display. Following that, a few days back, the Chinese tech giant announced Mi 11 with a similar spec’d panel. Now, another code in the MIUI Gallery app confirms that there will be a Mi 11 Pro as well.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched both Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro at the same event. But surprisingly, the company only unveiled Mi 11 for 2021 as of now. Although the firm did not say anything about Mi 11 Pro at the launch conference, Digital Chat Station, a popular as well as reliable Chinese tipster revealed that the Pro variant will be announced after the Spring festival.

That said, recently, Xiaomi updated the MIUI Gallery to v2.2.17.18.  According to kacskrz, a recognized XDA member, the source code of the latest version of the MIUI Gallery app not only confirms the existence of Mi 11 Pro but also its QHD+ curved display.

According to previous reports, the Mi 11 Pro’s display may also support 120Hz refresh rate, SDR to HDR mapping, MEMC, and AI upscaling. On the other hand, the vanilla Mi 11, which is now official does not come with any of these features except for the 120Hz refresh rate.

Apart from the differences in display, we also expect the Mi 11 Pro to come with a better camera setup and support for faster charging.

Xiaomi officially launched the company’s latest flagship smartphone — Xiaomi Mi 11, which has become the world’s first smartphone to come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset.

With a starting price of 3,999 yuan (~$612), the device is already up for pre-sale in China and is slated to be available for purchase from 1st January. Now, a leaker “Digital Chat Station” has taken to Weibo to reveal another model in the lineup, the advanced Mi 11 Pro.

As per the report, the Mi 11 Pro is expected to get launched in China after the Spring Festival, which is mid-February. However, an exact launch date for the smartphone is not yet known but we expect to know more about the phone in the coming weeks.

Coming to the Xiaomi Mi 11, the smartphone features a 6.81-inch 2K display that offers 3200 x 1440 pixels screen resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and a heart-rate scanner.

In the camera department, there’s a triple-camera sensor on the back that features a 108MP primary sensor with f/1.85 aperture, a 13MP super wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view, and a 5MP telephoto-macro lens. On the front side, the device has a 20MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

The smartphone runs the Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box with the MIUI 12 on top, although the company has officially released the MIUI 12.5 custom interface. It is powered by a 4,600mAh battery that supports 55W fast wired charging, 50W fast wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the world’s first smartphone with Snapdragon 888 chipset, the Mi 11. Ahead of the December 28 launch, the company has been revealing key details in a series of posts via Weibo. Amidst this, a tipster now says that Mi 11 will be the only flagship device available in large quantities before the spring festival.

Digital Chat Station on Weibo says Xiaomi has been preparing the inventory of Mi 11 well-in-advance. Precisely, he says the company has planned to keep the scale of stocks to 1 million. This corroborates with an earlier report where a Xiaomi executive had said that there will be enough stocks.

According to the tipster, Xiaomi is able to achieve this through the exclusivity of Snapdragon 888 SoC. If we recall, soon after Qualcomm’s event, Lei Jun broke the news that Mi 11 will be the first to launch with flagship SoC. Coming back, he says as per the priority list, Xiaomi should have got the chipsets from Qualcomm two months ago.

Anyway, with this amount of stocks in its kitty, Xiaomi will reportedly be the only company to produce so many Snapdragon 888-powered devices before the Spring Festival of China. For the unaware, Spring Festival starts on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month of the Chinese calendar. From here, it runs for 23 days, and for 2021, it falls on February 12.

We are just a couple of hours away from the official launch of Xiaomi Mi 11. Ahead of this, the company has already confirmed that the device will feature advanced display technology with Gorilla Glass Victus for protection, support for computational photography, faster LPDDR5 RAM, and Wi-Fi 6 standard, speakers tuned by Harman Kardon.

The device, however, will be the first Xiaomi flagship to miss out on an in-box Charging Adapter. Alongside the event, Xiaomi has also confirmed that it will announce the new MIUI 12.5 and has already begun beta registrations for the same. The stable version of the same is reportedly slated for a Late February 2021 release.

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Mi 11 series in China this month. An exclusive tip given to us suggests that the company will unveil the devices on December 29 in the country. Ahead of the launch, leaks regarding Mi 11 has been floating on the internet frequently. Hence, let’s take a look at the possible specs, and price with whatever info we have so far.

For starters, Mi 11 will be a premium flagship series in 2021 that’s coming after the 10th anniversary of Xiaomi. It will succeed the yesteryear Mi 10 series. Although Xiaomi has confirmed only about the Mi 11 so far, we can expect the company to bring Xiaomi Mi 11, Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro just like 2020. Additionally, a report also rumors about a possible Mi 11 Pro+. Xiaomi’s latest flagship that’s selling in China is the Mi 10 Ultra which launched a few months ago.

Mi 11 Series – The basics

To get basics out of the way, Xiaomi Mi 11 will follow a similar strategy to the predecessor. Accordingly, it will boast a premium design with no-compromise on specs and other features. It will also be the first flagship to launch with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 88 SoC as confirmed by Lei Jun.

From the leaked images so far, we can guess that the device might retain the rear Glass body and sport a metal mid-frame for rigidity. Since the devices are tipped to sport a four-curved screen, expect Xiaomi to place a Gorilla Glass(maybe 6) on top of the screen.

Other expected features include water resistance(P2i/any IP rating), USB-C port, dual-SIM card slot, SA/NSA 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, DDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, fast charging, camera features like OIS, EIS, 4K video recording, slow-mo, night mode, and more.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Features (Expected)

The standard variant Mi 11 is expected to feature a four-curved screen with a top-left punch-hole display. Thus, it’s gonna look a bit similar to the Mi 10 at least from the front. Although dimensions aren’t known yet, it is likely to sport a FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate screen.

This is up from the 90Hz refresh rate on the predecessor. However, we will have to wait for other details like peak brightness, JNCD value, contrast ratio, and more. Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Xiaomi is likely to up the storage performance with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 instead of 3.0 storage.

For the optics, the device will have a triple camera setup on the back along with an LED flashlight. This is horizontally stacked inside a squircle housing. As per the concept renders, the layout will also have a Blue Gradient color with a chamfered bump. The triple-camera array will likely have a 108MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP macro sensor.

Although few rumors predict the presence of a Telephoto lens, the device will anyway get an upgrade from the 2MP macro on the Mi 10. A 4,780mAh battery will probably back the entire Mi 11 with support for 55W fast charging. For memory variants, we can expect 8/12GB RAM and 128/256/512GB storage. The Mi 11 is expected to start at the same 3,999 yuan($612).

Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro Features(Expected)

As far as full-fledged renders are concerned, the Mi 11 Pro has been a mystery, to say the least. Although reports predict an identical design throughout the series, a leaked protective casing of the Mi 11 Pro hints at quad-cameras on the Pro.

A different rear layout, if turns true, will be a surprise considering the devices will elsewhere differ very little. Anyhow, the Mi 11 Pro, as per a new tip on Weibo, will feature a 6.76-inch display. It will have a similar four-curved screen with a top-left punch-hole but will sport a QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, it will feature the same Snapdragon 888 SoC as the Mi 11 and come paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. As for optics, let’s address the typical scenario first. If Mi 11 Pro were to host the same design as the Mi 11, it will likely have the triple-camera setup. Accordingly, there will be a 48MP OmniVision OV48C sensor, 20MP ultra-wide, 12MP Telephoto with 2x optical zoom.

The main sensor will reportedly capture images at 50MP resolution as well. However, if the device has a revamped layout like the one shown above, it will probably include an additional Periscope lens for higher zoom(maybe 10X or more). A report also shows dual-batteries on the Mi 11 series and suggests that Mi 11 Pro might have a 4,970mAh battery.

This is understandable considering the Pro has a 2K resolution(higher). We can expect other features like the same memory variants, charging from the Mi 11. It is likely to start from 5,299 yuan($811).

The entire series will likely debut with MIUI 12 based on Android 11 out-of-the-box. However, Xiaomi could pull a new MIUI like the 12.5 version as well.

Mysterious Mi 11 Pro+

Apart from the Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, as mentioned above, a mysterious Mi 11 Pro+ is also rumored to accompany the series at the event. Nothing else has popped up regarding the device leaving us dry with no teaser images. However, the report says it will likely have top-of-the-line specs like a bigger 2K screen and a 120Hz display, Snapdragon 888 SoC, Xiaomi’s 100W charging, and more with premium pricing.

Nevertheless, the Mi 11 series will reportedly go on sale later this month (could be on the launch day). A Xiaomi executive also says that the device will have enough stocks. Let’s wait for the official pricing.

A series of images claimed to be Mi 11 appears on slashleaks(via mobiltelefon.ru). As you can see below, the images show a person holding a device that is in Blue Gradient color. If you look closely, it has a squircle rear camera layout with two large sensors and a small one above the LED flashlight. These almost resemble the earlier leaked image of the Xiaomi Mi 11.

Further, the first larger sensor also has a white ring around it just like the concept renders that surfaced online. This could be the 108MP main sensor of the rear setup. To add to the merry, tipster Ice Universe claims that these are 100% legit images of the Xiaomi Mi 11. In any case, the launch should be very near, and hence, let’s wait for official images and pricing.

As I write this, the image seems to be removed on the page but the post is still intact. However, thanks to early birds we have the image. Speaking of which, the supposed Mi 11 on the shot is Black in Color.

But it could just be a covering for a prototype or a test model as well. Anyway, the camera module is the elephant in the room. The image shows a similar squircle design with horizontally stacked triple-cameras. There are two big cut-outs and a small one above the LED flashlight. Having said that, let’s reserve our verdict on the authenticity of the Mi 11’s real-life shot till the official launch.

In fact, Redmi Product Director and a Xiaomi Executive, Wang Teng on Weibo has responded(via) to a user regarding the stocks of Mi 11. Accordingly, he replies that the company has sufficient stocks of the Mi 11. He also hints that the sale will not be a one-time exclusive with a ‘many’ keyword.

Along with a Mi 11 launch in December, rumors said that the company would have minimum quantities for an early sale. However, Wang Teng’s reply suggests that the company will likely hold exclusive sales for a period of time. And it corroborates the early sale rumor as well.

Regarding the series, Xiaomi is likely to debut two devices- Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro. The devices will have a top-left punch-hole cutout for the selfie sensor. While the Mi 11 likely hosts a FHD+ display, the Pro variant will likely support QHD+ resolution. Both the display are expected to have a 120Hz refresh rate.

Just like Xiaomi, it’s leaks are also racing ahead in the industry. We already know that the company’s announcement of the Mi 11 as the first smartphone with Snapdragon 888 SoC. And, if we recall, Xiaomi and its sister Redmi launched two flagship series(With Snapdragon 865 SoC) in H1 2019. The former had the Mi 10, 10 Pro while the latter had Redmi K30 Pro. Well, it looks like the momentum will repeat again but double in 2021 as per a new tip.

As usual, the latest tip comes from Digital Chat Station, who, on Weibo says that Xiaomi and Redmi will launch two models with Snapdragon 888 SoC each. If each model has two devices, that makes a total of four devices powered by the flagship SoC. This is surprising considering Redmi has kept the Snapdragon’s flagship SoC tightened so far. For instance, the company debuted the K series with K20, K20 Pro in 2019.

However, it restricted the K20 to a mid-range chip and only Pro had Snapdragon 855 SoC. Similarly, the next year it succeeded the series with Redmi K30, K30 Pro, K30 Pro Zoom out of which only the Pro models had the flagship SoC. The Xiaomi Mi series, on the other hand, are premium flagships and do the opposite. The company keeps the basics like build quality, SoC as constant while varying other specs like camera between the models.

Coming back, considering this tip is very early, let’s just put a pin on it for now. Our guess is that he is referring to two different series of models positioned for H1, and H2 of 2021(eg. K40, K50 series). And if the leaker is true, all of them will have the 108MP camera as a standard norm. As of now, all we know is that Xiaomi has confirmed the Mi 11 while Redmi has it’s own flagship probably lined up for Q1 2021.

Besides, the Redmi flagship has not appeared that much in leaks so far. This could be because of the launch being at least two months from now. Anyway, the series is rumored to be called the Redmi K40 as of now. Leaks so far say that the device will have high-refresh-rate displays, with fast charging support.

Precisely, we can expect features like AMOLED, at least 90/120Hz punch-hole display, and faster memory(LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 2.1 storage). In any case, as per the tipster, Redmi’s 2021 flagships won’t feature a 2K(QHD+) screen like the Mi 11 that is about to launch later this month.

That is the case for Mi 11 too as a new report says that the standard edition has got network certification in China.

According to the report, a device with model number M2011K2C has got 5G certification in China. As you can see below, the device in question gets certified for 4G, 5G, GSM, and WLAN. The report says that this belongs to the Mi 11 Standard Edition. Now, if we recall, a device with similar model number M2012K11C appeared on Geekbench. This was believed to be one of the Mi 11 series devices with the flagship SoC.

Anyway, it’s a no-brainer that both the devices will support the latest 5G connectivity. Besides, the entire specs of the Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro has already been leaked. Accordingly, both the devices will share similar specs with a few differences in Camera, charging, and of course, Price. It will likely feature a S-AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Quad HD+ resolution. For rear cameras, leaks say that the device will include a  108MP sensor, 13MP ultrawide, and 5MP Macro lens. Upfront, a 20MP is expected to be the selfie shooter.

While the Mi 11 is rumored to have a 4,780mAh battery, a new leak shows that the device will have a dual-cell battery to aid fast-charging. The 3C certification shows that both the batteries are 2,845mAh and 2,390mAh hinting at a typical value of around 4,900mAh. That said, we can expect other specifications like LPDDR5 RAM(at least 8GB), UFS 3.1(at least 128GB) storage, in-display fingerprint sensor, and more.

The Mi 11 will likely support 55W charging out of the box and charge the entire battery in 35 minutes. Rumored to be priced around 4,499($686), the device looks quite an upgrade from the predecessor, the Mi 10.

2020 isn’t over yet but it already feels like a new year as smartphone companies have announced plans for the next iteration of flagship devices. That is, the plans to bring a flagship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC next year. The race has begun and hence, let’s look at the list of contenders for the “flagship of the year with Snapdragon 888 processor”.

As always, we have got Chinese companies spearheading the list. In fact, Qualcomm itself has named the SoC based on the ‘888’ sentiment of China. This shows how much the American MNC values the Chinese vendors. Anyway, the list includes brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, Motorola, iQOO, realme, Red Magic, Nubia, ZTE, Redmi.

Xiaomi(Mi 11), Redmi(K40?)

First off, as reported earlier, Lei Jun confirmed that Xiaomi Mi 11 will be the first flagship to launch with Snapdragon 888 SoC. The lineup will probably include Mi 11, and Mi 11 Pro. A leak of specifications shows that the devices will have an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 20MP selfie shooter, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, in-display fingerprint sensor, and face unlock, RAM likely from 8GB, and storage starting at 128GB as common. However, the devices will differ in Camera, Battery, charging, and Price.

The Mi 11 will have a 4,780mAh battery, 50W wired, and 30W wireless charging, triple-camera with  108MP sensor, 13MP ultrawide, and 5MP Macro lens. The Mi 11 Pro will have a lesser 4,500mAh battery, 120W wired and 80W wireless charging, triple-camera with 48MP OmniVision OV48C sensor, 20MP ultra-wide, 12MP Telephoto(2x-Optical). They are rumored to be announced this month at 4,499($686), and 5,499yuan($838) respectively.

In addition to Xiaomi, Redmi also announced that it will launch the first batch of devices with Snapdragon 888 SoC. In our guess, it could be the K40 series of devices. And with leaks surrounding them already, we don’t think it would take that long. The Redmi K40 is likely to host a 120Hz OLED display, and fast charging tech(maybe 50W wired).

Nubia(Red Magic 6, Z), ZTE(Axon 30)

Nubia(independent entity since 2015) and its ex-affiliate ZTE brands also confirmed that they will launch flagships with Snapdragon 888 SoC next year. Among this, the Red Magic 6 series will be the first gaming smartphone to launch with the SoC. Considering the March launch window of Red Magic 5, we can expect the next iteration to launch around the same time.

That said, Nubia also announced the Nubia Z, a new series with the flagship SoC. ZTE, on the other hand, confirmed that it is bringing the ZTE Axon 30 with a Snapdragon 888 version. If we recall, the company recently teased the camera features of Axon 30 that is probably coming very soon.

OPPO (Find X3)

OPPO announced the OPPO Find X3 at the INNO DAY 2020 back in November. Later, as Qualcomm announced the new SoC, the company confirmed that the “Find X series will bring an unparalleled new experience to users worldwide”. The device is coming in Q1 2021 and since the Find X3 is already announced, it is safe to assume that Find X3 will host the Snapdragon 888 SoC.

Called the “Full-Path color management system”, the device will support DCI-P3 wide color gamut. And native 10-bit color depth across “capture, storage, and display” to offer accurate colors. Additionally, it will have a JNCD≤0.4, 10-bit HEIF capture & storage, a Sony IMX7xx sensor, and more. Let’s wait for more details.

OnePlus (OnePlus 9 Series)

Although OnePlus officially confirmed it as a high-end flagship launching with Snapdragon 888 in H1 2021, rumors predict that it’s the OnePlus 9 series. And that the series is probably coming in mid-March of 2021. Recent leaks say that the series will also include a OnePlus 9E apart from 9, 9 Pro.

Anyway, as per the info we have, the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro will have a slightly different design with and without curved displays, respectively. They will likely have an AMOLED 120Hz display(6.72-inch on 9 Pro, 6.65-inch on OnePlus 9), run the latest OxygenOS 11, have faster charging(at least 65W Warp Charge). realme (RACE)

realme, one of the fastest-growing brands in the world, announced a Snapdragon 888 flagship codenamed ‘RACE’. Assuming the company’s last realme X50 flagship launched around February, we can expect the same with the ‘RACE’.

Anyway, the device, as confirmed by the company will probably adopt the ‘ACE’ series that was allegedly handed over to the company by OPPO. To corroborate this, a realme device similar to OPPO Ace2 surfaced online recently. According to the leak, the device, having model number RMX2202, will have 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, run realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.

Vivo (V2056A), iQOO

After the confirmation of launching ‘mobile products’ with Snapdragon 888 SoC officially, a Vivo device hit the Geekbench listing recently. Being a first, the device has a model number V2056A and the benchmark shows 11.06GB(~Typical 12GB) RAM, Android 11 OS(could be OriginOS). While the listing doesn’t give away any other info, we feel that the Vivo would bring the SoC on its next NEX flagship.

This is because the company’s COO Hu Boshan, in a video released on Qualcomm event page, talks about Vivo, and its sub-brand iQOO flagships. He mentions that the company launches NEX, X, S, and iQOO’s performance series of devices with flagship SoC. And will continue to do so with Snapdragon 888.

This strongly suggests that the Snapdragon 888 device could be NEX 4 and iQOO number series(maybe 7). That’s considering the next Vivo X60 is already tipped to launch with Exynos 1080 SoC.

Motorola Moto G series

Lenovo-owned Motorola surprised everyone by announcing a Snapdragon 8xx series-powered “G series” device for 2021. The company says since it’s the 10th anniversary of the Moto G family, it would like to crank it up a notch with the flagship SoC.  While the 8xx could be anything, we can safely assume that it will at least be a Snapdragon 865/888 considering the announcement was at the event.

Motorola also announced a few upcoming Android 11 features like the Video calling using an “ultra-wide lens”, “desktop mode” for gaming, media, productivity. The Media launcher mode will be a separate interface after hooking the device to a TV, Monitor for streaming Apps, Games, Content.

Other Brands to launch Snapdragon 888 devices

• LG
  • LG executive Matthew Crowley confirmed that LG devices will leverage the Snapdragon 888 SoC in 2021. Reminding us of the first 5G in the USA, V50 ThinQ 5G, and LG’s first-swivel LG Wing 5G, the company said it would continue to work with Qualcomm and take advantage of the flagship processors.

• Asus

  • Asus’ GM Brian Chen says the next ROG phone would make use of the flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC in 2021. He says the company would tap into the ultra-fast 5G, performance, and graphics performance of the Qualcomm SoC to make the device a gamer’s delight. However, considering the ROG Phone 3 launched back in July 2020, we aren’t sure if the brand would be so quick to bring the successor.

• Black Shark

  • Luo Yuzhou of Black Shark Tech says that the company will launch the first batch of Black Shark products equipped with Snapdragon 888 in Q1 2021. He says, just like the Black Shark 3, that emphasized on the Snapdragon 865 5G to become the first 5G gaming phone, future products will make use of the faster AI, 5G, and performance of the latest processor.

Sadly, just like 2019, biggies like Samsung, Google, and Sony are missing at the event. In addition to these companies, brands like SHARP, MEIZU have also announced their partnership with Qualcomm. So things are bound to get interesting in the coming months.

Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone series, the Mi 11 has been in the news for the past few days. Now, in the latest development, the upcoming flagship smartphone’s protective case has leaked online.

The protective case of the Mi 11 Pro has been leaked online but its authenticity has not been verified. So, we would advise you to take this with a pinch of salt as it could turn out to be a fake or fan-made design.

The leaked image indicates that the smartphone will come with a quad-camera setup. It seems that the company has opted for a horizontal camera matrix and the module is placed in the top-left corner.

Previously, it was leaked that the smartphone could feature a 2K resolution display with a punch-hole cutout on top for housing the front-facing camera. It is also expected to come with support for a 120Hz refresh rate.

Qualcomm recently unveiled its latest flagship chipset for smartphones, dubbed Snapdragon 888. This next-generation mobile platform will be powering most of the upcoming premium smartphones.

Soon after the SD888, SoC was unveiled, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi confirmed that the company will be among the first to launch a flagship device powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset.

Recently, it was reported that Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone — Mi 11 could get launched in January 2021. However, a new report coming from well-known leaker ‘Ice Universe’ claims that the Mi 11 will be launched by the end of this month.

This is an interesting claim given that Xiaomi usually launches its flagship smartphone in the month of February. The company has reportedly sent the Mi 11 for network certification, which indicates that the launch isn’t far away.

Apart from that, it is also claimed that the smartphone will come with a four-curved screen design. Earlier leaks indicate that the phone will have a Quad HD+ display with a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. Both the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro are expected to feature a 120Hz refresh rate screen.

Xiaomi is expected to be the first Chinese company to launch the Mi 11, 11 Pro(Tentative) flagships with Snapdragon 875. In fact, it’s one of the companies rumored to bring the flagship SoC to the masses very quickly. As usual, the device has been on the radar of leaks frequently. Adding to the tally, the latest find by XDA member shows that the device could have a QHD+ display.

As per the XDA report, kacskrz, an XDA member and tipster, has spotted new strings on the latest MIUI 12 build. Accordingly, the said build based on Android 11 shows that the UI extends support to FHD+ and QHD+ resolution display. In fact, the resolution appears as 2400×1080 for the former, and 3200×1400 pixels for the latter.

Now, if we recall, a week ago, tipster Digital Chat Station hinted that a high version of the flagship(Possibly the Mi 11 Pro) will support 120Hz refresh rate QHD+ resolution. Coming back, the string with QHD+ resolution also has a message that the setting “consumes more power”. This is a no-brainer as displays with higher resolutions tend to draw more energy and hence companies post a warning.

That said, do note that none of the strings have any indication that Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro has the QHD+ display. The string appears on one of the latest MIUI 12 build. Generally, Xiaomi adds new codes to its MIUI when it plans to introduce something in the future. Hence, this resolution could be on the upcoming Xiaomi flagship. Plus, as per early reports, it could also have other display features like SDR-to-HDR unmapping, AI enhancements, MEMC, and more.

Moving on, the string also has options for battery saving modes which suggests that Xiaomi might switch the resolutions(QHD+ to FHD+) automatically to extend battery life. This is similar to what companies do today for the high-refresh-rate screens to save battery. Anyway, let’s wait and see how things pan out.

Xiaomi Mi 11, 11 Pro Specifications(Expected)

Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro from what we know, is expected to feature a QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, curved punch-hole screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC. While the ‘Pro’ variant is tipped to support 50MP rear camera output, an MIUI 12 code suggests that the Mi 11, with codename “venus” likely has a 108MP sensor-equipped triple-camera.

Having said that, features like CPU, storage, might be shared by the two. Also, both could have the 100W fast charging that Xiaomi revealed this year.

Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo has said that Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro he got to know had the camera layout and rear shell fully covered. Hence, he couldn’t spot the arrangement of cameras. However, from the system software settings, he reportedly found that the main camera of Mi 11 Pro shows 50MP resolution. Precisely, according to him, the output is a result of the 4-in-1(pixel binning) process.

Mi 11 Camera Specifications(Expected)

From what he says, it is understood that the marketing MP count of the sensor is not known yet. But the device’s main lens produces 50MP output. Moving on, tipster also mentions about a Telephoto lens on the Mi 11 Pro. Like the main lens, he says the software settings for Telephoto shows a 12MP output. However, he isn’t sure if it’s a proper 12MP lens or a 48MP sensor with a pixel binning technique.

Now, if you consider the specs of Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, or even the Mi 10 Ultra, they have 108MP Primary sensor. Also, if we recall, the Mi 10 Pro has auxiliary sensors like the 8MP Telephoto, 20MP ultra-wide, and a 12MP portrait lens. Hence, in any case, Mi 11 Pro’s is likely to bring an upgrade in Telephoto lens.

That said, the above specs are only for the “Pro” version of the Mi 11 as the tipster says the camera specs of the Mi 11 non-Pro version is uncertain. Anyway, both the flagships are likely to darn different sensors(apart from Main lens) combination just like the predecessors.

Now, certain specs of this phone’s camera have been tipped.

According to popular Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi’s first Snapdragon 875 handset will feature a 48MP ultra-wide camera with a pixel size of ​​0.8μm. The tipster did not mention the name of this device but we believe it to be Mi 11 Pro and not the regular Mi 11.

Apart from this minute detail, he also hinted that the Mi 11 series will arrive with improvements in stabilization. Again, it is not sure either the standard, higher, or both variants will come with an OIS upgrade. Anyway, we expect to learn more about these phones in the coming days.
