Xiaomi has recently announced that it will be ending software support for the Mi 11X, which is also known as the Redmi K40 in China. When this device was launched in 2021 with a starting price of Rs 29,999, it quickly became an attractive option for many, thanks to its dependable Snapdragon 870 SoC and impressive high-resolution E4 AMOLED display. Now that the device has reached the end of its software support, the question arises: Should users now consider upgrading to a newer model?

Everything the Mi 11X has to offer

The Mi 11X, which is a rebrand of the Redmi K40 launched with a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED panel, offering an FHD+ resolution with 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. It supports HDR 10+ with a peak brightness of 1300 nits.

Under the hood, the device has a Snapdragon 870 SoC, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It has a respectable battery size of 4520mAh, supported by 33W fast charging.

For optics, the Mi 11X is equipped with a triple camera setup, featuring a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel macro camera. For connectivity, it supports 5G (SA: N77 | N78, NSA: N77 | N78), along with Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6. As for software, the device made its debut with Android-11-based MIUI 12 and received its final Android 14-based HyperOS update a few months back.

Here’s Why the Mi 11X is Still Worth Keeping

The Mi 11X carries an impressive spec sheet, which can easily get you through your day-to-day needs of multi-tasking, high-speed internet use, and snapping some sharp pictures. The device uses a Snapdragon 870 SoC, which is still respected in the gaming community for being a well-balanced chip that provides performance as well as stability with excellent thermal management.

The display still holds up well by modern standards, featuring a high brightness mode of 900 nits. With a 360Hz touch sampling rate and a 120Hz refresh rate, it’s great for gaming. While it’s true that smartphone camera sensors have advanced significantly since 2021, most of the improvements have been in low-light imaging quality and contrast.

Balancing Repair Costs and Device Longevity

While we have given you many reasons to stick with the Mi 11X for the time being, some instances could force your hand to go for a replacement/upgrade. As per the official spare parts price of the Mi 11X provided by Xiaomi on its Indian website, if you end up cracking your display, it could cost you up to or beyond Rs 9,000 to get an original replacement.

On the other hand, if your motherboard fails, it’s probably more practical to invest in a new device, as repairs could easily cost over Rs 20,000. Battery issues are common with older phones, but replacing the battery in this model is relatively affordable, with an official replacement priced at just Rs 700. This inexpensive fix could extend your phone’s lifespan for a few more years. We would like to point out that since the device is old, it could be harder to find a replacement battery at service centers, and third-party sellers could charge more for the replacement.

As for the end-of-life software support we mentioned earlier, the device got its Android 14-based HyperOS update in May, so it has all the latest Android features onboard, making it good to use for another couple of years.

A few options if you do decide to upgrade

In case you want to or need to upgrade or replace your Xiaomi Mi 11X, here are a few options to consider:

A number of Xiaomi and Redmi devices have started receiving stable MUI 13 update based on Android 12 in China. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for international markets. However, the company is set to release the update in global markets soon as the software builds are being prepared for more handsets.

A few days back, we reported that MIUI 13 update is ready for the Redmi Note 10 and the Redmi Note 10 Pro. Now, the same source, Xiaomiui, says that the latest version of MIUI is also ready for the Mi 11X and Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G.

For the unaware, Mi 11X and Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G are nothing but Indian variants of Redmi K40 and Mi 11 Lite Vitality Edition. The former has already bagged the Android 12-based MIUI 13 stale update in China. Whereas, the latter is yet to receive the update.

According to Xiaomiui, the first-ever MIUI 13 release for Mi 11X and Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G will arrive with the following build numbers.

Xiaomi Mi 11X

• Codename: Alioth
• MIUI 13: V13.0.1.0.SKHINXM
• Android: Android 12

Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G

• Codename: Lisa

The aforementioned software builds will most likely reach ‘Pilot Testers’ initially, followed by ‘Stable Beta’ and ‘Stable’ channels. In simplers, though the update is ready, it will take some time to reach end-users.

MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition is currently the latest version of Xiaomi’s mobile operating system based on Android. The company unveiled it last month and even started rolling it out to the first batch of devices in the next few days. Now, this version of MIUI has reached international markets as well. The first phones to get it are Mi 11X and POCO F3.

The Redmi K40 was one of the first handsets to receive the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update in China. Hence, it’s not surprising to learn that the international variants of this smartphone called Mi 11X and POCO F3 are the first to get this update outside mainland China.

The latest software update for Mi 11X arrives with build number V12.5.3.0.RKHINXM. Since this device is exclusive to India, this is the only build available for this handset.

On the other hand, the POCO F3 is sold in multiple markets. Hence, it has many regional MIUI builds. At present, the new MIUI version is live for the ‘Global’ variant of the phone with build number V12.5.3.0.RKHMIXM. It should be available for other regional variants in the coming days.

Having said that, like any other OTA system update, the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition for Mi 11X and POCO F3 is also being rolled out in batches. Hence, the complete rollout might take some time.

The Android 11-based LineageOS 18.1 went official at the beginning of April. Since then, the project has added support for a number of devices. The latest addition brings builds for three popular POCO smartphones.

POCO handsets run MIUI like other Xiaomi group phones. The brand calls it MIUI for POCO. Not everyone likes the company’s software. Those users can try custom ROMs.

LineageOS is one of the most popular custom ROMs. The team released LineageOS 18.1 based on Android 11 a few months back. This software is now available for POCO F2 Pro, POCO F3, and POCO X3 Pro.

Power users of the above-listed handsets who enjoy fiddling with their smartphones can unlock their device’s bootloader and install the latest LineageOS 18.1 via custom recovery. It is worth noting that third-party software is not meant for everyone. Hence, proceed only if you know what you are doing.

That said, since POCO F2 Pro is a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro, LineageOS 18.1 can be also installed on Redmi K30 Pro as well as Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition. Similarly, Mi 11X and Redmi K40 also support the latest version of LineageOS as these phones are nothing but the POCO F3.

Talking about official software, all these POCO smartphones currently run MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. They should receive MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition in the coming months, followed by MIUI.

The 2020 Summer Olympics Tokyo officially ended on August 8. On the same day, Manu Kumar Jain, the Managing Director of Xiaomi India, announced that his company is giving away Mi 11 Ultra and Mi 11X smartphones to the Indian athletes who won medals at the international games.

India won a total of 7 medals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The six individual sport winners will be gifted a Mi 11 Ultra each by Xiaomi India. Whereas, the entire Indian National Hockey team players will be rewarded with a Mi 11X each. Manu Kumar Jain, the MD of the company, announced this on Facebook and Twitter.

The company executive says that this is Xiaomi India’s way of saying thanks for fulfilling India’s dreams and bringing tears of joy and happiness to 1.3 billion people. He also adds that the performance of these sportspersons will definitely motivate crores of young kids.

The Tokyo Olympics 2020 witnessed India’s best-ever performance ever. Hence, the entire nation is celebrating the success of its sports personalities. Apart from Xiaomi, various local governments and others have also announced rewards for the medalists.

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi launched the Mi 11X in India on April 23. That makes it 48 days today since the premium flagship smartphone was released. Apparently, the smartphone has been a major hit among fans as the company has come out to celebrate raking sales worth over Rs. 300 crores (about $41 million) since the series went on sale.

The Mi 11 series is made up of the Mi 11 and the Mi 11 Pro. The company didn’t reveal the number of units that were sold but since the Mi 11 is cheaper, we expect the company has sold more units of the 11 than the 11 Pro. The sales record is reminiscent of the record sales of the Mi 10i 5G.  Earlier this year, the company announced that it sold Mi 10i 5G units valued at an estimated Rs. 400 crore ($54 million) in three weeks of launch.

The two models are 5G phones but utilize different camera sensors. While the Mi 11X is powered by a Snapdragon 870 processor, the Mi 11X Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset. Both models feature a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution. The phone also comes with support for a 120Hz refresh rate, MEMC, Stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, and Audio Zoom for video.

The Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro with a starting price of Rs. 29,999 (~$410) for the vanilla model are still up for grabs in India via Amazon.in, Mi.com, and Mi home stores. The decent price point and top-notch specs lineup may have contributed to the huge sales.

Xiaomi launched the Mi 11X series in India in late August. The vanilla Mi 11X is a rebranded Redmi K40, which is also sold as POCO F3 in some markets. A month after its release, this smartphone has now started receiving MIUI 12.5 in the country.

MIUI 12.5 is the latest version of the MIUI mobile operating system based on Android. According to Xiaomi, this version brings improvements for devices already running MIUI 12. 

Hence, users of eligible devices are excited about this update. However, so far, Xiaomi has been mostly releasing this update for the Chinese variant of its phones. Thankfully, that has begun to change lately as some international variants have now started getting this update.

The latest global handset to receive MIUI 12.5 update is Mi 11X, which is sold in India. The update arrives with build number V12.5.1.0.RKHINXM. The software builds is in the ‘Stable Beta’ phase, and therefore, it is only available for a select few users as of now.

Anyway, all users should get the update in the coming days if early adopters don’t face any major issues. The original version of this smartphone, the Redmi K40, received the update in late April in China. On the other hand, the POCO F3, which is yet another clone of this phone is yet to receive the update in any region.

Xiaomi has just launched the Mi 11X series in India. In the lineup, the company announced the Mi 11X and the Mi 11X Pro. These devices are essentially the rebranded Redmi K40 and Mi 11i respectively and offer top notch specifications at a reasonable price tag.

In the Chinese tech giant’s Mi Mega Launch event, the company unveiled its flagship Mi 11 Ultra, the new Mi QLED TV 75 inch, and the Mi 11X series. Xiaomi had just recently teased the new handsets earlier this month and they are finally here. The ‘X’ in the model name is to showcase the device’s Xtreme performance, feature Xceptional Display, and Xquisite design. Notably, these devices are also a part of the company’s ‘Made in India” lineup and support local features like NavIC positioning system.

Talking about the specs of these new devices, both the Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro feature an identical display. The lineup sports an E4 AMOLED display that offers a peak brightness of 1300 nits. Furthermore, the screen also supports high refresh rate of 120Hz and 360Hz touch sampling rate. The 6.67 inch panel also supports HDR 10+ and has a FHD+ resolution. On the front, a 20 megapixel punch hole selfie camera can also be found, which features EIS stabilization.

Under the hood, the Pro variant features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC, which is paired with UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. On the other hand, the base variant sports a Snapdragon 870 SoC. For memory, the Mi 11X Pro offers 8GB of RAM along with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, the Mi 11X will arrive in a 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variant that will be paired with 128GB of internal storage. The Mi 11X series is powered by a large 4520mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging as well.

Talking about the cameras, the Mi 11X Pro offers a triple camera module, with a 108 megapixel primary sensor, which is paired with an 8 megapixel ultra wide lens and a 5 megapixel macro camera. The Mi 11X also sports a triple camera setup as well, but with a 48 megapixel primary sensor, along with 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens and 5 megapixel macro camera.

Arriving at the pricing of the lineup, the Mi 11X arrives in two variants:

• Mi 11X (6GB + 128GB) – 29,999 INR (roughly 400 US Dollars)
• Mi 11X (8GB + 128GB) – 31,999 INR (roughly 427 US Dollars)

Similarly, the Mi 11X Pro will also be available in two variants:

• Mi 11X Pro (8GB + 128GB) – 39,999 INR (roughly 534 US Dollars)
• Mi 11X Pro (8GB + 256GB) – 41,999 INR (roughly 561 US Dollars)

The Mi 11X will first go on sale from 27th April 2021, while the Mi 11X Pro pre orders begin from 24th April 2021 in India across all channels.

Moto G40 Fusion and Moto G60 Indian launch – April 20

Motorola India will announce two new smartphones on April 20. These new phones are the Moto G40 Fusion and the Moto G60 which are both powered by the Snapdragon 732G processor and both have a 6000mAh battery capacity. The former will have a 64MP main rear camera while the Moto G60 will have a 108MP sensor.

Realme 8 5G series – April 21 and April 22

After announcing the Realme 8 Pro and the Realme 8 4G, realme is ready to unveil 5G versions of both devices. On Wednesday, April 21, the Realme 8 Pro 5G and the Realme 8 5G will be announced in Thailand while the Indian launch will follow on Thursday, April 22.

Lenovo Spring Conference – April 22

Lenovo will announce a handful of new computers on April 22. The world’s biggest computer company will launch new YOGA 2-in-1 computers and new notebooks under its Xiaoxin line.

Xiaomi Mi 11X series heads to India – April 23

Xiaomi launched the K40 series in China a few days ago. Soon after that, reports started surfacing that these devices will be rebranded under POCO for the Global markets. Now, kacskrz, an XDA senior member, has found evidences of the devices and it may come to India under the ‘Mi’ branding.

As per the code snippet found by kacskrz, a Xiaomi device with ‘Mi’ branding and ‘Mi 11X‘ market name appears with model number M2012K11AI. Additionally, the codename of the device is shown as ‘aliothin’. In case you don’t know, this model number and codename belong to the Redmi K40(already certified by India’s BIS).

That is, going by the usual naming of Xiaomi, the ‘in’ at the end of ‘alioth’ should indicate that it’s an Indian variant. Similarly, another code reveals a new device called ‘Mi 11X Pro’. If the above guess turns true, then the Redmi K40 Pro should take the Mi 11X Pro naming.

Earlier today, tech influencer Mukul Sharma said that the K40 will be rebranded as POCO for the Global markets. However, it looks like the devices won’t come to India under POCO but debut as Mi 11X, Mi 11X Pro. If that isn’t enough, a third device with the ‘Mi 11i‘ moniker suggests that it could be the rebranded Redmi K40 Pro Plus for Global markets.

The Redmi K40 Pro+ has a codename ‘haydn’ and the corresponding Mi 11i has “haydn_pro”. That said, there is no sign of this launching in India as the Mi 11i codename has “haydn_pro_global” and no ‘in’.

Last month, Manu Kumar Jain confirmed that two Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 888 devices are coming to India. If you match it with the above info, it leaves us to believe that the Mi 11 devices for India will be a rebrand of the Redmi K40, K40 Pro from China. Anyway, let’s wait for official info to confirm it.
