Nikon has announced its first cinema camera, the Nikon ZR, marking the debut of the new Z Cinema series. The full-frame, ultra-lightweight camera is designed for both emerging cinematographers and professional creators, combining Nikon’s imaging expertise with RED’s color science.

The ZR records internally up to 6K/60p 12-bit RAW using the new R3D NE RAW codec, based on RED’s R3D RAW format. It offers over 15 stops of dynamic range and supports Log3G10 and REDWideGamutRGB, ensuring consistent color reproduction with RED cameras such as the V-RAPTOR [X] and KOMODO-X. Two base ISO options, 800 and 6400, provide flexibility for bright or low-light conditions, while ISO remains fully adjustable in post-production. The camera also supports N-RAW, ProRes RAW, and additional formats for diverse workflows.

A large 4-inch DCI-P3 LCD monitor provides high brightness for outdoor use, reducing reliance on external displays. Users can preview looks in real time with up to ten stored LUTs, including RED’s Creative LUT Kit. A new Cinematic Mode simplifies setup by automatically applying a 180-degree shutter, 24 fps recording, and RED Cine Bias Picture Control.

The ZR introduces 32-bit float audio recording with built-in and external microphones, a first for a cinema camera. It integrates Nokia’s OZO Audio technology, enabling directional sound capture with five selectable pickup patterns. A digital accessory shoe allows direct power and two-way communication with supported gear, such as the new ME-D10 shotgun microphone, priced at $339.95.

Image stabilization is rated at 7.5 stops, aided by Nikon’s Z mount, which supports a wide range of native and adapted lenses. Autofocus performance is driven by Nikon’s EXPEED 7 processor and AI-based subject detection, covering people, animals, and vehicles, with the ability to track small faces occupying just 3 percent of the frame. AF speed and sensitivity can be adjusted for creative control.

The ZR’s fanless magnesium alloy body is dust and drip resistant, designed for long shoots with uninterrupted recording of up to 125 minutes. USB power delivery supports extended sessions for events or interviews. The body weighs 1.19 lb. with a short 16mm flange distance for greater lens adaptability.

Additional features include shutter angle adjustment from 5.6° to 360°, slow-motion presets at 4K/120p and Full HD/240p, automatic vertical video rotation, tally light indicators, and compatibility with Frame.io Camera to Cloud. The camera also inherits several still-photo functions from the Z6III, including starscape presets and a dehaze tool.

Pricing & availability

The Nikon ZR Cinema Camera will be available in late October 2025 at $2,199.95 for the body. Kit options include bundles with the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 ($2,749.95), NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 ($2,849.95), or NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 ($2,499.95).

Nikon has introduced the Coolpix P1100, a successor to the P1000 in its super-zoom bridge camera lineup. Known for pushing the boundaries of zoom capabilities, the P1100 retains the impressive 125x optical zoom that made its predecessor stand out, but Nikon has added a few new features to make the deal more enticing. 

Familiar Form Factor with Incredible Reach

The Coolpix P1100 comes with a 24-3000mm (35mm equivalent) zoom lens, packed into a 3.1-pound (1,410-gram) body. While the 16.79-megapixel sensor is physically small (type 1/2.3), it allows for the extensive zoom range. The floating aperture starts at f/2.8 and closes at f/8 at the telephoto end.

If 3000mm isn’t enough, the camera supports a digital zoom feature that extends the reach to an equivalent of 12000mm or 600x zoom. Of course, using digital zoom comes at the expense of image quality.

To combat handshakes and provide sharper images, Nikon has equipped the lens with Dual Detect Optical VR, promising vibration reduction equivalent to 4.0 stops at the frame’s center.

Hardware and Features

The P1100 supports 4K video recording at up to 30p, offers a 3.2-inch vari-angle LCD, and includes timelapse functionality. It also supports clean HDMI output for those who want to connect to external displays or recorders.

Eagle-eyed enthusiasts might notice that much of this hardware remains unchanged from the P1000, which launched back in 2018. Still, Nikon has added a few thoughtful upgrades.

Nikon has officially announced the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4 autofocus lens. The new Nikon offering is a wide-angle fixed-focus lens that is compatible with the Nikon X Mount system. The Nikkor Z has a minimum focusing distance of 0.27 meters and a constant maximum aperture of f/1.4.

The Nikon Nikkor Z series system lenses are mirrorless interchangeable lenses that are the best complements for the Nikon Z series mirrorless camera. They offer a range of lenses from wide-angle to telephoto and deliver the perspective needed for stunning images and 4K Ultra HD video. They offer advanced technology in several directions including silent autofocus that is perfect for videos and vlogging. The Nikon Nikkor Z has a length of about 86.5mm and weighs 415g. It is similar in size to the Nikon Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S and can be conveniently carried around during daily use. The lens supports silent autofocus and utilizes a stepping motor (STM) in its operation. The lens comes with dust and water resistance, thus enhancing its reliability. The end of the lens uses a metal filter ring cover and the device is equipped with 11 lenses in nine groups. There are two aspherical lenses in the setup and the device marks the first time it is configured in a non-S series lens.

A new leak has revealed some of the specifications of the Nikon Z7 III camera. The latest leak indicates that the Z7 III will come with a 90MP full-frame sensor and 8-stop IBIS. The new leaks relating to the Nikon Z7 III are coming on the heels of the recent launch of the Nikon Z6 III. The unveiling of the Z6 III received a positive reception from the market and fans had expected that the Z7 III would have also been launched simultaneously. The Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II were launched at the same time.

The Z7 III is Nikon’s next-gen premium full-frame camera although the leaked specs are seen as tentative at best. As per the leak, the features specified for the Z7 III are an accelerated FX-format 90.75MP BSI CMOS sensor, 10.1 mode with cross-pixel super pixel packing for low-light scenarios, and 8-stop in-body image stabilization. The full-frame camera also features 14fps continuous 14-bit RAW photo capture with a mechanical shutter and 12-bit N-RAW video at up to 8K 60fps, 4K 120fps, and 12K 30fps. The camera is also projected to come with an updated dual-axis articulating screen and possibly a 5.67K-dot, 12Hz, 4,000-nit EVF which was also featured in the Z6 III.

The pixel-shift high-resolution mode will help to further boost the resolution of the Z7 III. The camera will also come with improved autofocus with an upgrade expected from the dual-stream AF system. The model is rumored to have Bluetooth LE and WiFi 6 connectivity. It will come with dual card slots that support CF Express and UHS-II SD cards.

There are no specifics yet on the release and pricing optics of the Nikon Z7 III camera. The model is expected to launch shortly and it is projected to come with a price hike above the Z6 III.

The latest offering borrows technology and high specifications from the flagship Nikon Z9 albeit into a smaller body and at a lesser price tag. Nikon Z8 specifications and features

The Nikon Z8 has a compact and portable body. Dimension wise it measures 144 x 118.5 x 83 mm and weighs 910 g. It has a 3.2-inch touch-enabled screen that can be tilted horizontally or vertically. There is a 0.5-inch electronic viewfinder with color balance, auto, and 18-level manual brightness control. The camera is compatible with Z-mounted and F-mounted Nikkor lenses. 

The Nikon Z8 is said to be equipped with an extra tough, strong, and sturdy exterior with effective sealing to each cover making it dust and drip resistant. There is a sensor shield and dual coating on the image sensor. The Z8’s buttons are also backlit illuminated for shooting in dark environments. 

As for the core specifications, the Nikon Z8 features a 52.37MP full-frame CMOS sensor with an EXPEED 7 image processor. There are 493 maximum autofocus points. There is pre-release capture for freezing precise moments that works by recording images up to 1 second before or 4 seconds after the shutter button is fully pressed. The camera packs 3D tracking for stills, up to 9 types of subject tracking, and a new airplane mode. In terms of videography, the Nikon Z8 supports wide video formats including 12-bit RAW, 10-bit ProRes 422 HQ, and N-Log. It is capable of recording up to 8K at 30fps, 4K UHD, and FHD at up to 120fps. 

The Nikon Z8 supports ISO sensitivity of up to 25600. The fastest and slowest shutter speeds are 1/32000 sec and 30 seconds respectively. It supports high-res zoom up to 2x focal length even with a prime lens. 

Connectivity options on the Nikon Z8 include WiFi, Bluetooth, USB-C ports, USB PD, HDMI out, Audio input/output, and a built-in ten-pin remote terminal. It is compatible with Nikon’s SnapBridge app. The camera is backed by a rechargeable Li-ion battery unit. 

The Nikon Z8 carries a price tag of $4,000. It will be available for purchase from May 25th. The camera is priced at Rs 3,43,995.

The company is now working on a new model, with leaked information revealing details about the eagerly anticipated Nikon Z8. The Z8 is expected to deliver high-performance features in a smaller, more compact package than the Nikon Z9.

Additionally, the Nikon Z8 is set to feature the same 45.7MP stacked sensor as the Z9, providing high-resolution images. The camera is expected to offer burst shooting at 20 FPS for RAW photos and up to 120 FPS for JPEGs. Both cameras reportedly share a 1/32,000-second shutter speed, as well as a native ISO range of 64-25,600 and the ability to record 8K video at 60 FPS.

One of the main differences between the two models is the Z8’s smaller size and lighter weight. It is anticipated to weigh under a kilogram and measure 144 x 118 x 83 mm (5.6 x 4.6 x 3.2 inches). The Z8 is also expected to offer improved dust and moisture resistance compared to the Z9, similar to the protection provided by the Nikon D850. Nikon Corp is set to end the production of camera bodies in Japan by the end of this year, as per officials. The news arrives as the company is seeing a decline in sales caused by the improving capabilities of smartphones in photography.

The camera making giant will be transferring production from its plant in Miyagi Prefecture, which is a part of its new structural reform. Its camera body production will then shift from its sole domestic camera production site to a major factory in Thailand. As per a company official, “The quality level of our products can be sustained even if they are made overseas.”

For those unaware, Nikon has been leading the camera industry since the launch of its first camera back in 1948. But since then, the company has been struggling due to intensifying competition in recent years. Especially with the entry of smartphones that have played a major role in the decline of the digital camera market, with improvements in smartphone camera technology shortening the gap in performance with digital cameras.

The company added that it will maintain employment at the factory by continuing the production of certain camera components and distributing the works to growth sectors such as health care and sensors. Similarly, the camera maker is also planning on shutting down two factories in Yamagata and Fukushima prefectures as well, which are responsible for the processing of removable lens parts for digital cameras.
