We have got it all covered in these stunning hands-on images of the device.  The new silver variant means the Nokia 6 can now be purchased in a black as well as silver colour options. We still have two attractive colour options more to meet, though. Recall the Nokia 6 was unveiled at MWC 2017 in four colour variants namely, Black, Blue, Silver and Pink. There is also an Art black special edition with a glossy Piano black finish but it’s still black!

The Silver version which was unveiled today, is already up for pre-order or registration on Jingdong and the sleek device would ship from April 11. It would be safe to say the Silver variant is different from the Matte black version in just the looks of the back panel and sides. The front screen section still comes in black but there seems to be some touch up on the design, especially the finishing. The new variant seems to have a silver panel at the four edges bothering the screen.

At the rear also, the Nokia logo also got polished with a similar shiny silver coating, giving it a more attractive look. The rear camera section also got the same treatment, with the oval-shaped border around the camera and LED flash getting a silver coating.

Despite looking a little more attractive than the black variant (that’s a disputable claim anyway), the Nokia 6 Silver variant still comes with a 1699 Yuan ($245) price tag. Of course, you get the same 5.5-inch 1080 pixels display size and Snapdragon 430 fire power. All other specifications are exactly the same with the Black variant. HMD’s latest Nokia 6 smartphone is now available in a new cool silver colour variant. If you think this is white, you might be forgiven because we had first spotted a white variant which appeared in the Philippines but this is quite different from that one in that the front of this silver variant is black but the white variant which is not yet official is white. The new silver coloured Nokia 6 is now available for registration on e-commerce platform Jingdong (JD.com) in China.

The Nokia 6 appeared on TENAA before launch arrayed in silver. So we were expecting this silver variant to go public soon. The Nokia 6 Silver variant joins the black variant in offering buyers two attractive options to choose from. But this is obviously a case of saving the best for the last, as the new silver coloured variant looks more premium and sleek without compromising the military grade metal body build which the device comes with. The external features like the oval home button, Nokia logo at the back and camera ring are highlighted in shiny silver, making this variant more attractive than the black coloured version.

However, this new variant comes with the same specs as the black-coloured variant and is available for the same 1699 Yuan (~$245) price. As a reminder, the Nokia 6 sports a 5.5-inch 1080 pixels display and is fired up by a Snapdragon 430 chipset which is backed by a huge 4GB of RAM. There is also 64GB of storage onboard with the option of expanding it further via microSD. On the camera end, the device packs a 16MP rear camera with a single LED flash lying just underneath it, as well as an 8MP front-facing camera for sleek selfies.  There is an ample 3,000mAh battery crammed inside the smartphone as well.

Just a few days back, Nokia unveiled the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6 intended for the global market on the sidelines of the MWC 2017 in Barcelona. The three smartphones would join the refurbished Nokia 3310 in making their debut on the global turf in the second quarter of the year.

It has now emerged that the new Nokia smartphones meant for the global market will not ship from China but would be produced in India. As you would recall, the Nokia brand is controlled by HMD Global while production is in the hands of Foxconn, so the production would be carried out in Foxconn’s factory in India. This much was disclosed by HMD Global Vice-President for India, Ajey Mehta.

This, no doubt, is in recognition of the vital role the expansive India market plays in the survival of the Nokia brand under HMD. HMD plans to sell the phones in India via online and offlines sales channel and also has made arrangement for the establishment of a network of service centres to provide after-sales support in the local market. Sales of the Nokia phones will commence in June in the local market and very likely would start shipping immediately to other markets.

Nokia announced the Nokia 3 as going on sale for 139 Euros (~ $147) in Europe, while the Nokia 5 will retail for 189 Euros (~$199). The Nokia 6 will be available for 229 Euros (~$242) and Nokia 6 Art Black Edition for 299 Euros (~$316). The Nokia smartphones are expected to be cheaper in India since it is manufactured locally.

Nokia 6 is proving to be a potentially successful smartphone, even when it is yet to go on sale. The phone was recently announced in China and immediately went up for pre-orders or registration or reservations, whichever you choose to call it. The reservations were reported yesterday to have surpassed 230,000 persons in just 24 hours after it opened for reservations in Jingdong (JD.com).

The latest report from that end says that the figure has almost doubled, as it is reported to be in the tune of over 420,000 persons in just two days. Surprisingly, there is up to four days left before the device goes up on its first flash sales, so the figure may even pass 1 million persons. As stated earlier, there are two categories in the registration. There is a zero yuan reservation and another one which required those making reservations to pay a 66 yuan price with a membership benefit attached. The free reservation package has so far seen 411,470 persons indicating interest in that package., up from 229,000 a day ago. The 66 yuan category has also risen to 9,211 persons but it is no longer available any more. Only the zero yuan registration is still open on Jingdong presently.

Of course, this total figure is expected to rise further in the next few days and bear in mind that the device will go on sale starting from January 19. So, there is still four clear days left for those who are still interested in participating in the reservations for its first flash sale. We must point out that not all of the registrations will translate into actual sales.

The Nokia 6 is a sleek smartphone that comes with a modest specs lineup inside but what makes it a hot, wave-making smartphone is perhaps its sleek but rugged build, as well as durability. It is strong enough to crack a walnut shell even with the screen, so we expect a durable device which could last for ages. The 1699 yun price tag isn’t too much also.

A few days back, Nokia teased the Nokia 6 as featuring a military grade body which can withstand a wide range of extreme condition. Conditions the device is touted as capable of withstanding include extreme temperature, high humidity, snow, water etc.

The Nokia 6 smartphone is yet to go on sale but it is already in the hands of some crazy testers who did test the ruggedness of the Nokia smartphone by smashing a walnut with the phone. Of course, the Nokia 6 comes with an all-metal unibody so anyone would expect the back of the smartphone to successfully smash a walnut shell but the front screen? Well, the tester in the video used both the front screen and the back casing to smash the walnut and it did break the shell without any damage to the Nokia 6’s display or body, not even a scratch.

The comeback of the Nokia brand into the smartphone market is still reverberating all round the internet. The Nokia 6 itself was recently spotted on TENAA adorned in what would likely be a silver colored coating, perhaps another color variant.

On launch, Nokia announced that the device would go on its first sale in China before anywhere else. Undoubtedly, this is due to the large potential of the Chinese market with its sheer size of smartphone users, many of whom are still ardent Nokia fans. It has now emerged that HMD Global is also eying an entry into the Hong Kong market. According to the source, HMD Hong Kong has been sending out e-mails to the media that the company is organizing a team that would publicize the return of the Nokia brand to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Although, it wasn’t stated whether the Nokia 6 would be launched in these markets, it isn’t feasible to publicize a smartphone company without its product, and right now the Nokia 6 is the only Nokia branded smartphone that can be used to project the brand. Meanwhile, the budget Nokia 6 would go on its first sale towards the end of January which is the period the Chiness celebrate the Spring Festival or New Year. Apparently, the device would be exclusive to Jingdong (JD.com) and is price at 1,699 yuan (around $245 USD). It is likely we’d be seeing the silver colored variant along with the black colored version when it officially goes on sale.

HMD Global yesterday released its first Android-powered Nokia smartphone and quite honestly, it was a little short of our expectation. The Finnish company did not take the centre-stage at CES 2017 to do that, but rather silently unveiled the device, simply called Nokia 6, in China and they did curry some of the media attention already beamed on CES for the past few days.

Here are some cool hands-on images of the Nokia 6 which reveals the entire design features of the mid-range smartphone. The Nokia 6 launched with a somewhat familiar design that we probably had seen in the past, perhaps in leaked renders of the casing. The fused antenna band design is slightly visible at the edge of the device which is encased in an all-metal body made from aluminum.

As a reminder, the device sports a 5.5-inch display with 1080 pixels resolution. It is poweered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset which is backed by a cool 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB of storage onboard with the option of notching it further via microSD.

On the camera end, the device carries a 16MP rear sensor with a single LED flash lying just underneath it. While up front, there is an 8MP front-facing camera for sleek selfies. There is a 3,000mAh battery crammed inside the smartphone which should do justice to keeping the lights on for a longer period.

Priced at 1699 yuan, the Nokia 6 will hit the shelves in China before China’s New Year or Spring Festival later this month. For such a price, Nokia is got a lot of competitors to beat in the domestic Chinese market and even globally whenever the device is made available globally.
