Digital Chat Station has shared the first performance numbers for the OnePlus Ace 7 Pro, following its earlier design leak and the cooling schematic. The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and uses a dual-channel Ice River air cooling system. 

The latest tests show how much the fan affects temperatures and whether the phone can maintain high frame rates during an hour of gaming.

With the fan switched off, the Ace 7 Pro reached 46.6°C at both measured points after a gaming session. Turning the fan on brought the readings down to 37.6°C and 36.4°C, a reduction of around 10°C. 

The phone also maintained high frame rates in two games during one-hour tests. PUBG Mobile averaged 184.1 FPS with smooth graphics and the native ultra-high frame rate mode enabled. In Genshin Impact, the phone averaged 180 FPS with high graphics settings and the 180 FPS mode.

Digital Chat Station also compared the phone with an unnamed rival powered by a 2nm chip. The rival has no cooling fan and managed 120 FPS in its ultra-high frame rate mode. It began stuttering and dropping frames toward the end of the session, with heat eventually preventing it from maintaining the high frame rate.

A second round of testing used settings closer to everyday use. The Ace 7 Pro was connected to Wi-Fi with a 5G SIM inserted, screen brightness was set to 100%, and WeChat and Weibo were running in the background.

Under these conditions, Honor of Kings averaged 164.9 FPS over an hour at the highest graphics settings with the native ultra-high frame rate mode enabled. Digital Chat Station reported no lag during the test. Delta Force averaged 184.9 FPS at the highest graphics settings, with the tipster saying the phone maintained a similar level of performance even outdoors.

According to reports so far, the OnePlus Ace 7 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate. The camera setup is also tipped to include a 200-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom.

OnePlus has already opened reservations in China, with a launch expected later this month. He also found PYP110 and CPH2887 on OnePlus’s high-refresh-rate gaming list. PYP110 runs games at 185Hz and is most likely the OnePlus 16R, which he says is a different phone from the Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro.

Here’s how the iQOO 16 and OnePlus 16 compare in performance, display, battery life, cameras, and gaming features.

Chip and cooling

You get the same processor in both phones. It’s a 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 with two prime cores at up to 5GHz. The difference is in what each brand adds around it.

The iQOO 16 pairs the chip with iQOO’s Q4 gaming chip and a self-developed scheduler it calls the Monster Super Core Engine. iQOO says the Q4 improves performance by 15% over the Q3 chip in the iQOO 15.

The Q4 powers features such as real-time ray tracing in 10 popular games, plus super-resolution and frame generation. iQOO says hundreds of games support 165fps through frame generation, and a few titles, including Delta Force and Dark Zone, run at native 165fps.

The OnePlus 16 relies on a different setup. OnePlus has a gaming layer in the chip called the Wind Chaser Game Core. It also adds its three-chip esports system: a G3 network chip, a Lingxi T3 touch chip, and a P4 display chip. OnePlus targets 185fps in supported games, which is 20fps above the iQOO 16’s 165fps target. OnePlus says Delta Force held an average of 185fps for three hours in its lab.

As for cooling, the iQOO 16 has an 8,500mm² vapor chamber, three layers of graphite covering 29,453mm² and a large thermal gel layer. The OnePlus 16 uses a new-generation Glacier vapor chamber with a graphite layer rated at 2,100 W/m·K. OnePlus says its vapor chamber is 40% better and its thermal gel is 50% better than before. Both brands test in their own labs, so wait for independent thermal tests before you pick a side.

Display

The iQOO 16 has a 6.85-inch Samsung M16 AMOLED panel at 2K resolution (3168 x 1440), with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. It reaches 10,000 nits of local peak brightness and about 2,800 nits full-screen, according to iQOO. 

iQOO says more than 50 popular games run natively at 165Hz, and that the 165Hz mode works in more than 100 everyday apps once you turn it on in Developer Mode.

The OnePlus 16 has a smaller 6.78-inch BOE panel at 1.5K resolution. It supports 165Hz across the whole system, and up to 185Hz in supported games. OnePlus lists 2,000 nits of peak brightness, PWM dimming at 3,840Hz, and a minimum brightness of 1 nit. The screen carries TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 6.0 certification.

Battery and charging

The OnePlus 16 has a 9,000mAh battery, which is 600mAh larger than the iQOO 16’s 8,400mAh cell. We covered the OnePlus 16 battery details when OnePlus confirmed the figure. 

The iQOO 16 uses fifth-generation silicon-anode technology, which iQOO claims offers 8.6 hours of 165fps gaming. Meanwhile, OnePlus 16 is rated for 8.1 hours of a MOBA game at 120fps and above, 23.8 hours of video playback, and 13.6 hours of navigation. The two brands use different games and test conditions, so you can’t compare those run times directly.

Charging favors the OnePlus 16 on the wireless side:

• Wired charging: Both phones support 100W. OnePlus rates a full charge from 1% at 52 minutes.
• Wireless charging: 50W on the OnePlus 16, 40W on the iQOO 16.
• Reverse charging: The OnePlus 16 supports 27W wired reverse charging for earbuds and watches.
• Bypass charging: Both phones can power the device directly from a charger during gaming. The iQOO 16 needs you to turn it on manually.

Cameras

The OnePlus 16 has the higher-resolution main sensor, and the iQOO 16 has the lower-resolution one with a slightly larger sensor than you might expect. Here’s a side-by-side comparison:

• Main camera: The iQOO 16 uses a 50MP sensor measuring 1/1.3 inches with an f/1.68 lens and CIPA 5.5 stabilization. iQOO says it gathers 79% more light than the iQOO 15 Ultra. The OnePlus 16 uses a 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.4 inches with optical stabilization, and lets you shoot at the full 200MP and crop afterward.
• Telephoto: Both phones have a 50MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom and a 1/1.95-inch sensor. The iQOO 16 uses a Sony sensor with an f/2.65 lens. Both list 6x as lossless zoom, and iQOO adds 100x digital zoom.
• Ultra-wide: Both have a 50MP lens. The iQOO 16 uses a 1/2.75-inch sensor, and the OnePlus 16 lists a 116-degree field of view.
• Front camera: The OnePlus 16 has a 50MP autofocus camera, and the iQOO 16 has a 32MP camera.

On the software side, the iQOO 16 uses Vivo’s imaging tools, including the NICE 3.0 optical engine and a Humanistic Mode for street and portrait shots. The OnePlus 16 uses Oppo’s imaging system with a Master Mode for film-style tones and a text-prompt AI retouching tool. Both record 4K video, and the OnePlus 16 supports 4K at 120fps with Dolby Vision.

Gaming controls and connectivity

Both phones add custom hardware for touch, motion, and network.

• Touch: The iQOO 16 samples touch at up to 5,000Hz instantaneously and 500Hz for multiple fingers. The OnePlus 16 samples multi-finger touch at up to 520Hz. These apply only in select games.
• Gyroscope: The OnePlus 16 samples at 800Hz, against 500Hz on the iQOO 16.
• Network: The iQOO 16 uses a Wi-Fi enhancement chip with a side cellular antenna and a ring Wi-Fi antenna. iQOO claims 34% better Wi-Fi performance and 17% better cellular gaming antenna performance than the iQOO 15. The OnePlus 16 uses the G3 chip, which OnePlus says cuts cellular gaming latency by 42.1%.
• Haptics and audio: The iQOO 16 has a dual-axis vibration motor and symmetrical dual speakers. The OnePlus 16 has an X-axis linear motor and stereo speakers.
• Extras: The iQOO 16 supports a PC game emulator, a large-screen game mode, and an iQOO G1 gamepad, which is sold separately. The OnePlus 16 has a one-tap Gun God Mode for several shooters, and an optional gamepad.

Software and design

The iQOO 16 runs OriginOS 7, and the OnePlus 16 runs ColorOS 17. Both are based on Android 17, and both have ultrasonic fingerprint sensors.

The designs differ more than the spec sheets suggest. The iQOO 16 has a transparent camera window with a robotic-arm look, and a laser-holographic finish on the Chasing Light color. It comes in Chasing Light, Track, and Legend. 

The OnePlus 16 keeps the flat frame and square camera island of the OnePlus 15, and comes in Tomorrow Starlight, Mars Red, and a deep black. Only Tomorrow Starlight has the interstellar lighting effect. The OnePlus 16 has a stronger dust and water rating, with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, while the iQOO 16 has IP68 and IP69.

Price and availability

Both phones start at 5,999 yuan (about $896) for the 12GB+256GB model and top out at 8,499 yuan (about $1,270) for the 16GB+1TB configuration. By comparison, the OnePlus 16 is 2,000 yuan more expensive than the OnePlus 15’s 3,999 yuan starting price. The iQOO 16 has also seen a steep price increase, launching at 1,800 yuan more than its predecessor.

Neither phone has a confirmed global launch. OnePlus has stopped launching new phones in North America and Europe. The iQOO 16 has appeared at Europe’s EEC certification and on Geekbench, which suggests a wider release, but iQOO has not announced a date.

The rollout schedule indicates that ColorOS 17 will reach eligible OnePlus devices in phases, with the process extending into the first quarter of 2027. OnePlus notes that the stable release will be rolled out in batches, so availability may vary by device, region, and carrier.

OnePlus just launched its newest flagship in China, but a different model is already getting more attention for Indian buyers (and a few other markets). Fresh leaks suggest the OnePlus 16R is moving closer to production and could pack a solid mix of performance, battery life, and camera specs.

The OnePlus 16 dropped in China on October 12, 2026, with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, a display that goes up to 185Hz, a 200MP 1/1.4″ main sensor plus a 50MP 3x telephoto, and a massive 9,000mAh battery.

The catch? That phone isn’t expected to come to India or most global markets. That leaves the 16R as the likely flagship option for Indian customers.

Tipster Yogesh Brar recently shared that the OnePlus 16R has reached the Production Validation Test (PVT) stage. According to the leak, it’ll use last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. It’s also said to get a 165Hz display and a battery bigger than 7,500mAh. Brar mentioned the same hardware is being tested under the realme brand too.

One of the more interesting upgrades seems to be the camera setup. The 16R is tipped to come with a triple 50MP rear camera system that includes a dedicated telephoto lens. That’s a welcome return of optical zoom after the OnePlus 15R skipped the telephoto entirely. Specific zoom levels and sensor details still aren’t out, but it should give the phone more flexibility for distant shots and portraits.

On the software side, it’s expected to run ColorOS 17 instead of OxygenOS 17. Earlier reports point to a possible India launch in December 2026 or early 2027.

If the leaks hold up, the OnePlus 16R could deliver flagship-grade raw performance, respectable zoom photography, a smooth high-refresh display, smooth gaming through frame rate interpolation, and strong battery life. That would make it a pretty compelling option in the premium segment.

OnePlus has reported a strong start for its latest OnePlus 16 flagship smartphone in China. The company has shared its initial sales figures following the device’s retail debut. The early numbers put the phone at the top of this year’s Android flagship launch-period sales rankings.

OnePlus 16: First-day sales report

OnePlus China president Li Jie announced on Weibo that the OnePlus 16 had sold more than 70,000 units by 11 AM on October 13, just an hour after sales began at 10 AM. According to the executive, the phone ranked first among Android flagships based on comparable launch-period sales this year. He also described the performance as an unusually strong increase, although the company has not disclosed the exact figures for its predecessor.

The OnePlus 16 went on sale in China following its launch on October 12. Its early performance comes amid a focus on gaming, display quality and battery life, with OnePlus introducing dedicated gaming hardware and a high-refresh-rate screen to appeal to power users.

OnePlus 16 specifications

The OnePlus 16 features a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels. It supports refresh rates of up to 165Hz during everyday use and 185Hz in compatible games. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Its gaming features include dedicated network, display and touch chips, along with a Glacier Cooling System.

The OP16 features a 200-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. A 50-megapixel front camera handles selfies. The device runs ColorOS 17 and packs a 9,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. Other features include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers and IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings.

In China, the OnePlus 16 is available in four configurations: 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB. It carries a starting price of 5,999 Yuan (~$900) and comes in three shades, such as Tomorrow Starlight, Martian Red, and Dark Forest. There is currently no confirmation on whether the phone will be released globally.

OnePlus has also updated the phone’s gaming hardware, cooling system, and software, although some features remain unchanged from the previous generation.

The two phones share a similar design, with a 6.78-inch flat display, narrow bezels, and a flat-sided frame. However, the OnePlus 16 makes a few trade-offs alongside its upgrades. Wired charging drops from 120W to 100W, while the periscope telephoto camera moves from 3.5x to 3x optical zoom.

For OnePlus 15 owners, the question is whether the larger battery, newer processor, and camera changes justify an upgrade. Here’s a detailed look at how the OnePlus 16 compares with the OnePlus 15 and what has changed between the two generations.

Performance

The processor is one of the biggest differences between the two phones. The OnePlus 15 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 3nm chipset with two prime cores clocked at up to 4.6GHz. The OnePlus 16 moves to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, built on a 2nm process, with two prime cores reaching 5.0GHz and six performance cores running at up to 4.0GHz.

The new chip also uses an all-big-core CPU design and introduces Adreno Matrix Cores for graphics features such as upscaling and frame generation. Moving to a smaller manufacturing process can improve power efficiency, although the actual gains depend on how the chip performs under different workloads.

OnePlus has also updated its Wind Chaser Game Core. The first-generation system on the OnePlus 15 supports up to 165fps in compatible titles, while the newer version on the OnePlus 16 is rated for 185fps. OnePlus says the phone averaged 185fps in Delta Force during a three-hour test at high graphics settings. Actual results will depend on the game, settings, and operating temperature.

Cooling upgrades

Higher frame rates and sustained performance put more pressure on a phone’s cooling system, so OnePlus has revised the thermal hardware alongside the new processor.

The OnePlus 15 uses the Glacier cooling system, which combines a vapor chamber with an aerogel insulation layer. The OnePlus 16 gets an updated setup with a zoned vapor chamber, revised thermal gel, and a graphite layer rated at 2,100 W/m·K.

OnePlus claims the new vapor chamber is 40% more effective and the thermal gel is 50% better than before. The updated layout also directs heat away from areas where users typically hold the phone during landscape gaming. The company has retained the general approach of insulating the frame while improving heat dissipation around the processor.

165Hz is no longer limited to games

The OnePlus 15 already has a high-refresh-rate display, but its 165Hz mode is primarily available in supported games and select applications. During normal use, the phone’s 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel adjusts its refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz.

The OnePlus 16 changes this by extending 165Hz support across the system. Scrolling through menus, moving between apps, and navigating supported interfaces can now take advantage of the higher refresh rate rather than relying on it mainly for gaming. Meanwhile, compatible games can reach 185Hz.

Both phones retain a 1.5K resolution and a pixel density of 450ppi. They also support 1.07 billion colors, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The OnePlus 16, however, uses BOE’s new X4 luminescent material instead of the X3 in the OnePlus 15.

Another addition is the P4 display chip, which OnePlus says improves clarity during fast motion. The minimum brightness remains 1 nit, while PWM dimming runs at 3,840Hz. The newer phone also receives TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 6.0 certification, replacing version 5.0 on the OnePlus 15.

The higher refresh rate is the most visible change on paper, but it comes with a few qualifications. Not every app or game will run at 165Hz or 185Hz, and the difference will depend on the content being displayed. A higher refresh rate can make supported animations and scrolling look smoother, but it does not automatically improve image quality or resolution.

Both phones stick with a 1.5K panel rather than moving to QHD+. That means the OnePlus 16 prioritizes refresh rate and motion handling over a higher pixel count.

A larger 9,000mAh cell

There’s an upgrade in terms of battery as well. The OnePlus 15 has a 7,300mAh battery, while the OnePlus 16 now packs a 9,000mAh cell, roughly a 23% increase. Also worth noting is that the new battery uses two cells, each with a typical capacity of 4,500mAh. 

OnePlus has paired the larger battery with OPPO’s energy management chip, which handles power draw. The company says the system helps maintain stable performance at low charge levels and allows the battery to retain at least 80% of its capacity after five years of use.

Here are the official estimates for several activities on the new phone:

• Up to 23.8 hours of video playback.
• Up to 20.6 hours of short-video browsing.
• Up to 13.6 hours of navigation.
• Up to 8.1 hours of gaming.

Charging is slower

The larger battery comes with a change that may disappoint some users. The OnePlus 15 supports 120W wired charging, while the OnePlus 16 reduces the maximum charging speed to 100W.

OnePlus claims the OnePlus 15 can charge to full in around 40 minutes. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 16 charges from 1% to 100% in 52 minutes.

Both phones support 50W wireless charging, although the compatible charger is sold separately. The OnePlus 16 also adds 27W wired reverse charging, allowing it to supply power to accessories such as earbuds and smartwatches.

Both phones also support bypass charging. It allows the phone to draw power directly from the charger during supported gaming sessions instead of routing all that power through the battery, helping reduce heat.

The main sensor jumps to 200MP

The OnePlus 16 makes a substantial change to its main camera, moving from the OnePlus 15’s 50MP Sony sensor to a 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.4 inches. And of course, you get OIS stabilization. 

The higher resolution gives the phone more pixels to work with when cropping photos, although megapixel count alone does not determine image quality. Sensor size, image processing, exposure, and lens performance all contribute to the final result.

The telephoto camera sees a different kind of change. Both phones use a stabilized 50MP periscope camera, but the OnePlus 15 offers 3.5x optical zoom at an 85mm equivalent focal length. The OnePlus 16 moves to 3x optical zoom, using a 1/1.95-inch sensor, and it also supports 6x lossless zoom.

The 50MP ultra-wide camera remains unchanged, with a 116-degree field of view. The front camera, however, moves from 32MP on the OnePlus 15 to 50MP on the OnePlus 16. 

OnePlus has also introduced a shooting option called “one shot, three crop.” It lets users capture a single 200MP photo and create wide, medium, and close compositions from the same image. Other additions include a wide-format shooting mode, a text-prompt AI retouching tool limited to 100 uses per month, and Master Mode for film-style tones.

Both phones use Oppo’s LUMO imaging system and support 4K video recording at 120fps with Dolby Vision. The hardware changes give the OnePlus 16 more flexibility for still photography, but its overall camera performance will need to be assessed through actual photos and videos.

Faster touch response and network handling

The OnePlus 16 also gets three updated custom chips for gaming: one for network performance, one for touch input, and another for motion sensing.

The new G3 network chip replaces the G2 in the OnePlus 15. OnePlus claims it reduces cellular gaming latency by 42.1%, improves Wi-Fi stability by 18.5%, and increases Wi-Fi network pickup by 11.5%. The phone also has 14 high-performance antennas and six anti-interference antennas.

For touch input, the company is using the Lingxi T3 chip. It supports multi-finger touch sampling at up to 520Hz in select games. OnePlus claims 43.27% better touch accuracy, 54% lower click latency in a MOBA game, and 36% lower swipe latency in a shooter. 

The gyroscope sampling rate also increases from 200Hz on the OnePlus 15 to 800Hz on the OnePlus 16. OnePlus says six-axis calibration and temperature compensation help reduce drift, while start-stop latency is 13% lower.

The newer phone also introduces a one-tap Gun God Mode for games including Peacekeeper Elite, Delta Force, CrossFire, Dark Zone, Valorant Mobile, and Call of Duty. The mode adjusts frame rate, touch response, network priority, and cooling settings together. Pairing the phone with a clip-on cooler unlocks an additional X mode, which OnePlus says can further improve graphics quality and frame rates.

Design and software

The OnePlus 16 retains the general appearance of the OnePlus 15, including its flat-sided frame, squared corners, 6.78-inch display, and narrow 1.15mm bezels. Both phones have a shortcut key on the side and IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

The color options change with the new generation. The OnePlus 15 comes in Sand Dune, Absolute Black, and Misty Purple, while the OnePlus 16 is available in Tomorrow Starlight, Mars Red, and Deep Black.

Tomorrow Starlight gets an interstellar lighting effect that illuminates for incoming calls, messages, and red envelope notifications in China. It can also respond to certain in-game actions and music, provided the necessary app permissions are enabled.

As for software, the OnePlus 15 shipped with ColorOS 16, while the OnePlus 16 ships with ColorOS 17 based on Android 17. OnePlus has retired OxygenOS for its newer phones, with ColorOS now serving as the software experience across the brand’s lineup.

ColorOS 17 introduces a refreshed interface and a memory management engine called Tide Engine. Other additions include AI Notes, which can combine information from multiple sources into one note, and an updated AI Tap feature.

The cross-device features carry over from the previous generation. Users can mirror their phone’s screen to a Mac or Windows PC through the OPPO Connect client. The phone can also handle iPhone calls and sync messages and notifications from an iPhone. Apple Watch users can manage calls, messages, and notifications on the watch, with fitness and health data syncing back to the phone.

Both phones also carry OnePlus’s claim of maintaining smooth performance in a 72-month aging test. The company has not provided independent results to verify how the two models compare after extended use.

Should you upgrade from the OnePlus 15 to the OnePlus 16?

The OnePlus 16 brings meaningful changes to performance, battery capacity, display refresh rate, and the main camera. Its 2nm processor has higher performance and efficiency claims, the battery grows by roughly 23%, and 165Hz support extends beyond gaming. The upgraded touch and network chips also give the newer model several advantages for competitive gaming.

However, the OnePlus 15 still has a few advantages of its own. Its 120W wired charging is faster than the 100W charging on the newer phone, and its telephoto camera offers higher optical magnification at 3.5x. The design and several other features also remain largely unchanged.

For existing OnePlus 15 owners, the upgrade makes the most sense if battery life, gaming performance, or the higher-resolution main camera are priorities. If your current phone already handles everyday tasks and gaming well, the changes may not be enough to justify replacing it immediately.

For anyone choosing between the two models for the first time, the OnePlus 16 has the newer hardware and larger battery, while the OnePlus 15 could be the better value if its price drops significantly.

Long gaming sessions heat up the phone, performance tanks, and frames start dropping right when it matters most. OnePlus is trying to fix that with a tiny new accessory that packs real cooling power.

Meet OnePlus’s new thermoelectric cooler called “Magnetic Ice Card Mini Cooler”. It’s an ultra-portable heatsink made to keep smartphones running smoother under heavy loads. It launched at 199 yuan (around $30) and is already available in China. OnePlus introduced it alongside the OnePlus 16.

The biggest selling point is how ridiculously small it is. At just 70 mm x 53.4 mm, smaller than a standard bank card in both directions, and only about 50 g, it’s roughly 30% smaller and 18g lighter than OnePlus’s earlier Magnetic Ice Cooling Clip.

Tipster Panda Is Bald has shared a list of phones and tablets expected to launch in October, including devices from iQOO, OnePlus, Honor, Xiaomi, and RedMagic. Some already have confirmed launch dates or official teasers, while others remain rumors.

Confirmed launch dates

The OnePlus 16 is set to launch in China on October 12, just two days from now. OnePlus has been teasing the phone ahead of the launch, with a recent post revealing several key specifications. These include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6-series chip, a 200MP main camera, a display with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, and a 9,000mAh battery.

OnePlus hasn’t confirmed the phone’s availability outside China. The company has reportedly pulled back from new phone launches in the US and Europe, while an India launch remains unconfirmed.

The RedMagic 12 Pro+ will follow on October 15. RedMagic has confirmed a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, a thinner and lighter body, bezels measuring under 1mm, and an under-display front camera. The company hasn’t announced its global launch plans yet.

Officially teased, but without a launch date

Honor has teased the Honor Win Tablet, confirming a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and an OLED display. Its latest teaser hints at a refresh rate above 200Hz, while tipster Digital Chat Station claims the tablet has an 8.4-inch panel with a 240Hz refresh rate. Honor hasn’t announced a launch date, but the tablet is expected to arrive alongside the Honor Win 2 series.

Xiaomi could also introduce the standard Redmi K100 this month. The company already launched the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max on August 11. Xiaomi President Lu Weibing has confirmed that the standard K100 is coming later and hasn’t been cancelled. However, the October launch window comes from tipsters, and there’s no official date yet.

iQOO has started teasing the iQOO Neo 12, confirming several of its key specifications. The phone has a 2K display with a 185Hz refresh rate, using Visionox’s fourth-generation pTSF material. It also packs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, an iQOO Q3 gaming chip, and a 9,000mAh battery. A built-in fan and the new Ice Dome cooling system handle heat during demanding tasks.

The iQOO Pad Pro has also been officially teased. The compact gaming tablet features an 8.8-inch display and weighs 298 grams. Like the Neo 12, it uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Q3 gaming chip combination. It also has an active cooling fan, while its 3C certification listing points to 66W charging.

Other rumored launches

The Honor Win 2 and Win 2 RT have cleared 3C certification in China, with listings indicating 100W and 90W wired charging, respectively. An October launch is rumored, but Honor hasn’t confirmed the timing. Earlier reports have pointed to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, a battery with a capacity exceeding 10,000mAh, and a possible third model in the lineup.

The OnePlus Ace 7 series is another possible October launch. According to leaks, the lineup could include a standard Ace 7 and a higher-end model, both expected to use a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-class chip and a battery of around 9,000mAh. The phones are rumored to arrive around the same time as the OnePlus 16, with the Ace 7 potentially launching in India as the OnePlus 16R.

Finally, the Honor X10 Mini appears on the list, but there’s little to support its inclusion so far. No official teaser, certification, or detailed leak has surfaced under that name, making it the least substantiated entry among the rumored October launches.

Oppo launches ColorOS 17 Open Beta for eight phones

Oppo has launched the ColorOS 17 Open Beta program for eight of its high-end smartphones from the Find X9 series, Find X8 series, and the Reno 15 series.

If you’re willing to test ColorOS 17 Open Beta, go to Settings > About device > Tap the top of the page > Click the top right button > Beta Program. Then fill in the required details and tap Apply Now. Make sure your device is updated to the latest available software version.

Once your application gets approved, you will be able to upgrade to ColorOS 17 beta via an OTA update. Keep in mind that the applications are open until October 12, and while Oppo hasn’t mentioned if there are limited seats, it’s best to be early.

OnePlus is going all-in on high-frame-rate gaming with the upcoming OnePlus 16. The company just confirmed that the phone will support native 185FPS in a bunch of popular mobile titles, which should make it an appealing option for competitive players when it drops on October 12.

According to OnePlus, you’ll get that 185FPS mode right away in games like Peacekeeper Elite (the Chinese version of PUBG Mobile), Delta Force, Dark Zone (Arena Breakout), CrossFire: Mobile, Counter-Strike Online: Future, and Lost Light (international version of Firefly Assault).

They’re also planning to roll it out later to a longer list that includes Naruto, Hearthstone, Minecraft, Plants vs. Zombies 2, Carrot Fantasy, Clash of Clans, Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage, Rhythm Master, Temple Run, Legends of the Three Kingdoms, and Subway Surfers.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 16 is set to be one of the first phones with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip. It’ll come in three colors: Starlight, Dark Forest, and Martian Masterpiece. Design-wise, it’s going for that ultra-narrow equal bezel look on all four sides with big rounded corners, so it should feel like a proper flat-screen phone that’s still comfortable to hold.

OnePlus is set to launch the OnePlus 16 on October 12. The company has now confirmed that the Ice Card Mini Magnetic Cooler will be unveiled on the same day.

The new accessory measures about the size of a bank card and uses a combination of a TEC cooling chip and air cooling to keep a phone’s temperature down.

It follows the company’s 40W Super Ice Magnetic Cooler, which launched at 229 yuan (about $33).

The Ice Card Mini measures 70mm long and 53.4mm wide, making it smaller than a standard bank card in both dimensions. It is 9.7mm thick at the body and 12.3mm at the air intake, while weighing around 50g. The shell combines PC and aluminum alloy, and the only listed color is Silver Wing Grey. 

Inside, the cooler pairs a TEC cooling chip with an air-cooling system that directs cooling toward the phone’s main heat-generating area. You can choose between two levels. The low setting runs as quietly as 25dB, while the high setting reaches about 35dB. You can be aware of the level you’re on via the built-in status light. Blue means high, green means silent, and flashing red signals a fault.

Magnetic attachment and power

The cooler uses magnets with a holding force of around 10N. OnePlus even includes a magnetic plate for phones without built-in magnets, allowing it to work with a wider range of Apple and Android devices. OnePlus and OPPO phones can also use the cooler with the high-performance ColorOS X mode.

Power comes through a USB-C port, with an input of up to 5V at 0.7A. That means you can connect it directly to a phone or use a power bank or adapter. According to OnePlus, a 10,000mAh power bank can run the cooler for up to eight hours on the high setting.

The box includes the cooler, a charging cable, a lanyard, a magnetic plate, an auxiliary film for the plate, and a user manual.

OnePlus has listed the Ice Card Mini Magnetic Cooler on Chinese e-commerce platforms, with its official release scheduled for October 12 at 19:00. The company has yet to announce its price.

Nonetheless, it’s higher than the 5.38 million score on AnTuTu last week, and OnePlus also claims this is the highest AnTuTu score among phones using the same chip.

What the chip brings

The OnePlus 16 will be among the first phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, which is made using TSMC’s 2nm process. The chip uses an all-big-core CPU with clock speeds above 5.0GHz. Compared with the previous generation, OnePlus says CPU performance is up by 13%, while GPU performance has increased by 44%. 

OnePlus has worked with Qualcomm on a gaming kernel called Wind Chaser. It sits at the lower software layer and allows supported games to run at a native 185FPS while maintaining that frame rate during longer sessions. PUBG Mobile is one of the games mentioned by the company.

The phone also includes three OnePlus-developed chips for gaming. The P4 Super Display Chip handles image rendering, while the T3 Touch Chip manages touch response. The G3 e-sports network chip handles network latency. Together, these chips cover everything from a touch input to the image appearing on the display.

OnePlus just launched the N6 Lite in India, and it’s cheaper than everything else in the N-series lineup. But the price tag isn’t the interesting part; it’s on the inside. The N6 Lite 4G is powered by a Unisoc T7250 chipset, something that has never shown up in a OnePlus phone before.

Here’s a bit of context. OnePlus has been making phones since 2014, and in that entire run, it’s preferred Qualcomm for its flagships and, starting with the Nord 2 5G in 2021, MediaTek for its mid-rangers. Unisoc, the chip maker best known for powering budget phones from ZTE and other Chinese OEMs, was never in the mix. The N6 Lite breaks that streak.

And it’s not hard to figure out why. OnePlus has been sharing R&D, supply chain, and software resources with its parent company Oppo under the BBK Electronics umbrella, and that alignment shows up directly in this phone’s silicon. 

Back in April, Oppo’s global A6c 4G switched from the Snapdragon 685 it shipped with in China to a Unisoc T7250. It also landed with almost the exact spec sheet you’re now seeing on the N6 Lite: 6.75-inch HD+ LCD at 120Hz, 900 nits HBM, 7,000mAh battery, 15W charging, and IP64 durability. 

That is to say, the OnePlus N6 Lite 4G is essentially a rebadge, and the shared chipset shows how tightly OnePlus and Oppo are running their entry-level playbooks together these days.

As for what you’re actually getting, the N6 Lite runs the T7250 alongside 4GB of RAM (with LPDDR4X) and 64GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The display is a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 900 nits peak brightness in HBM mode.

The phone runs Android 16 with OxygenOS 16 on top and carries an IP64 rating, along with the MIL-STD-810H durability testing OnePlus has applied across its N-series so far.

Oppo has brought the design to many of its own apps, including Files, Photos, Phone Manager, Compass and Notes. Background activities can also appear as tappable capsules, while the lock screen gets a separate Lockscreen Island for things such as music, calls and navigation.

The idea is to keep these controls within easier reach, especially when you are using the phone with one hand.

Fluid Design animations

The new navigation is part of a wider visual change that Oppo calls Fluid Design. Rather than keeping every element rigid, the interface now reacts more noticeably to how you interact with it.

For example, buttons and selection boxes can stretch or squeeze slightly when you press them, then settle back into place. The clock also moves between the lock screen and home screen as you unlock the phone, making the transition feel more connected.

The animations respond to your touch as well. A quick flick gets a quick response, while slowly dragging an element gives you a little more resistance. Oppo says the Aurora Engine handles the rendering, with a separate animation layer taking care of the motion.

Frosted-glass look and new lock screen clocks

The visual changes don’t stop with animations. ColorOS 17 also brings a translucent, frosted-glass look to parts of the interface, including the Control Centre, Media Player, Notes, Files and lock screen.

The system uses different levels of blur to create a sense of depth, while a soft outline called Contour Glow helps separate cards and selected items from the background. The Control Centre has also been redesigned with fully circular toggles.

There is some resemblance to Apple’s iOS 26 design here, although Oppo says it has kept the refraction effect more restrained. The company also says the translucent elements are designed to keep text and icons easy to read.

The lock screen gets some attention of its own, with three new clock styles to choose from. If you like one of them, you can also use the same clock styles as widgets on the home screen.

Faster app switching with the Tidal Engine

Beyond the visual changes, Oppo is also trying to make ColorOS 17 feel faster when you move between apps.

That’s where its Tidal Engine comes in. The system learns which apps you use most often and how long you typically spend in them, then adjusts how resources are allocated. It also works to keep more apps running in the background, so returning to an app doesn’t always mean starting from the beginning.

Oppo’s own figures show a 55.6% improvement in background app retention, along with 35% better app launch stability. The company also claims 50% faster scrolling and loading in third-party photo galleries and 15% faster app switching.

There is another system called the Polar Light Engine, which Oppo says can reduce the memory used when launching apps by 25% and cut rendering load by 30%. As always, the actual difference will depend on the phone’s hardware and how the software performs on it.

AI Photo Editor and AI Memory Gallery

AI is also becoming a bigger part of the photo experience in ColorOS 17. With the AI Photo Editor, you can simply describe the change you want instead of going through individual editing tools.

You can also give the editor a reference image and ask it to use that image’s colors, lighting, or skin tone. On top of that, it can remove unwanted objects, reduce motion blur, and adjust colors and tones. Oppo says its DaVinci visual model powers these features.

The gallery gets some AI features too. AI Memory Gallery can turn your photos into photo blogs, which Oppo calls Plogs, and generate the accompanying text for you.

There is also a more useful change if you regularly shoot with other devices. Footage from cameras such as the Insta360 GO Ultra, as well as files stored on NAS devices, can be accessed directly from the album through Album Direct Connection without first taking up space on your phone.

AI Notes and live translation

ColorOS 17 also gives AI Notes a bigger role in meetings and other situations where you need to keep track of information.

The app can listen to a meeting while taking notes at the same time. You can also bring in videos, books, and other ideas with a single click and have them turned into structured notes. If you need to share the results of a meeting, the system can create an editable overview diagram as well.

Oppo is also bringing live translation into the mix. When compatible Oppo earphones are connected, the system can translate another person’s speech in real time and play the translation into your ear. Your response can then be played through the phone’s speaker.

Xiao Bu assistant

Oppo’s assistant, known as Heytap Assistant, Breeno or Xiao Bu depending on the market, is getting a more proactive role with Xiao Bu Space.

Instead of simply waiting for commands, it can keep track of tasks and flag things that need attention. Oppo gives examples such as an overdue credit card payment or a forgotten reservation, with the assistant pointing you toward the service that can resolve the issue.

Travel is another area where Oppo is putting Xiao Bu to work. You can describe a trip in one sentence and have it create an itinerary covering things like transport, accommodation, tasks and precautions. Once you’re travelling, it can show your boarding pass, arrange a taxi after you land, and even warn you if you have selected the wrong airport, station, or terminal.

Oppo says the assistant supports more than 700 scenarios. For now, these features have been announced for the China version of ColorOS 17, and it has not confirmed which ones will make their way to global builds.

Scam and deepfake protection

Oppo is also using AI to add more protection against scams and deepfakes.

One of the new tools is AI Cross-App Anti-Fraud, which looks at activity across calls, web browsing, and app installations. If it detects a chain of behavior that could eventually lead to a coerced payment, it can warn the user and record the event.

Then there is AI Face-Swapping Detection, which checks video calls for signs that someone’s face may have been digitally replaced and reminds you to verify who you are speaking with.

Finally, AI Call Anti-Fraud uses a new language model to look for scam scripts and AI-generated voices. Oppo says it can work across its own apps as well as third-party apps.

Car, watch and earphone features

ColorOS 17 is also expanding beyond the phone itself. Oppo has added Car+ connectivity, which allows supported cars and phones to work together more closely.

For example, Walking-Navigation Handover can move navigation from your phone to the car’s larger display when you start driving.

Oppo’s watches get some new tricks as well. Air gestures let you control parts of the phone without touching the screen. A double pinch can switch songs or videos, while a wrist flip or double tap can skip backward. You can also use the watch as a remote shutter for the phone’s camera.

For fitness, FatMax can set personalized heart-rate zones and provide voice coaching, while Sports Fluid Cloud can send heart-rate and calorie data to a phone or tablet in real time.

The Oppo Watch S2, which is among the first devices to run ColorOS 17, includes FatMax mode and launches on September 22.

Smaller changes testers have found

There are also a few smaller changes that have shown up in the closed beta. These aren’t necessarily final, so Oppo could still change them before the stable release.

For calls, you can swipe up to answer and swipe down to end one, with an option to reverse those gestures if you prefer. The status bar has also been rearranged, with the battery shown first, followed by Wi-Fi and signal information. On dual-SIM phones, the two signal indicators can also appear as a single block.

The torch gets a new full-screen interface with a brightness slider, while the charging animation now uses a glowing battery bar.

Which phones get ColorOS 17?

Oppo’s ColorOS 17 page lists the Oppo Find X10 series, OnePlus 16, and Oppo Watch S2 among the first devices to debut the new software. You can also check our Oppo Find X10 series roundup for what we know about that lineup so far.

For existing devices, Oppo has already published a rollout schedule for models in China. The stable rollout starts on October 8, although that doesn’t mean every device in a particular batch will receive the update on the same day. Oppo describes these as rollout start dates, and the schedule can still change.

Here are the main batches:

• October 8: Oppo Find X9 series and Find N6, OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15T, Realme GT8 Pro.
• October 16: Oppo Find X8 series, Find N5 and Pad 5 Pro, OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13T, Realme GT7 Pro, GT8 and Neo8.
• October 20: OnePlus Ace 6 series and Oppo Watch X3.
• October 22: Oppo Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro.
• November 26: Oppo Find X7 Ultra, Reno 15 and Reno 14 series, OnePlus 12, OnePlus Ace 5 series, Realme GT5 Pro, GT7, Neo7 and Realme 15 Pro, along with more Oppo tablets and foldables.
• December: OnePlus 11, OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, Realme GT6, Neo6 and Realme 14 Pro+.

For users outside China, the wait is a little longer. Oppo has not yet published a global or India rollout calendar.

The company is already running a closed beta in India for the Oppo Find X9 Pro, Reno 15 Pro, Reno 15 Pro Mini, OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R and Realme GT 8 Pro. That gives us an idea of which phones could be among the first to get the stable update, although Oppo has not confirmed its final rollout dates. OnePlus users will also have a choice when the transition happens. They can move from OxygenOS to ColorOS and roll back later if they decide they want to return. Realme India, meanwhile, has confirmed that its upcoming phones will launch with ColorOS 17 instead of Realme UI.

OnePlus has begun officially teasing its upcoming flagship device ahead of its expected October release window. Built to deliver top-notch performance, it will compete with the iQOO 16, which is set to break cover on Sept. 29 in China. Here’s a look at the official details about the OnePlus 16 confirmed so far by the brand.

OnePlus 16 variants, color options revealed

The official pre-order listing for the OnePlus 16 reveals that the device will come in three colorways: Tomorrow Starlight, Dark Forest, and Martian Masterpiece. The Tomorrow Starlight edition stands out by incorporating an interactive breathing light embedded within the rear panel that illuminates the branding and celestial coordinates.

Buyers will be able to pick from multiple configurations, such as 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB. In terms of design, the device features a square metal camera island, large rounded corners, and a customizable AI key on the left edge.

OnePlus 16 specifications

As per recent reports, the OnePlus 16 will feature a BOE X4 flat OLED panel, offering a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate that climbs up to 185Hz during optimized gaming sessions. The device will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro flagship processor and ColorOS 17-based Android 17.

Powering these features is a massive 9,000mAh battery paired with Oppo energy management silicon for low-voltage efficiency. Recharging options include rapid 100W wired charging along with convenient 50W wireless charging support.

On the back, it will house a versatile triple-camera array. A 200-megapixel primary sensor measuring 1/1.4 inches anchors the setup, accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95-inch sensor size.
