The UMIDIGI A3 Pro joins the fray with a bigger screen size and a couple of other distinguishing features. Apart from a few differences, both the UMIDIGI A3 and A3 Pro look similar.

The UMIDIGI A3 Pro continues with the beautiful design of its sibling but this time around, there is a notch on top of the display. The design includes a full-metal unibody and double-sided 2.5D curved glass design. It packs a bigger 5.7-inch advanced in-cell notch display with a faster and improved dual camera setup 12MP+5MP from Sony/OV sensor that offers better photo and video quality than ever before. At the front, there is an 8MP OV8856 sensor with a f/2.0 aperture.

The phone is powered by a MediaTek M6739 processor paired with 3GB of RAM while there is 32GB of internal storage onboard. Also, the phone comes with triple slots made up of dual 4G VoLTE SIM slots and a third microSD slot. In this way, you won’t need to compromise the SD card slot when using dual SIM. The company is apparently trying to surprise its fans by releasing three quality and affordable smartphones in one series in a short time. The A3 series includes the UMIDIGI A3, A3 Pro and A3 Max. UMIDIGI released an official video to promote the recently launched UMIDIGI A3 and in the video contains the yet to be released UMIDIGI A3 Pro in all its glory.

The UMIDIGI A3 Pro is also marketed by the company as an “entry-level beast” just like the A3. They are quite similar to each other except that the aspect of the display and memory. The UMIDIGI A3 Pro sports a 5.7-inch advanced in-cell technology notch display that is sharp and vivid enough for all purposes while the UMIDIGI A3 packs a 5.5-inch advanced in-cell technology full-screen display in an 18:9 format. The UMIDIGI A3 and A3 Pro are budget phones but UMIDIGI says they have a flagship-looking design. We can’t vouch for the build quality until a review is done but it comes with a double-sided 2.5D curved glass with a full metal unibody frame. Ahead of the launch date, the device has now been listed on AliExpress where it seems to be open for pre-orders. The listing also affords us an opportunity to know the full specifications as well as see the real life renders of the UMIDIGI A3.

As you may have known, the UMIDIGI A3 is an entry-level model but UMIDIGI touts it to be a beast. Most smartphones are usually marketed as dual SIM phones with two SIM slots. In recent times, that has become a major selling point for some phones. Most especially the budget models that don’t usually have much to offer in other aspects like camera, SoC etc. Quite unfortunately, these phones usually don’t have separate slots for external microSD card. Instead, the second SIM slot doubles as the SD card slot. On high-end models packing 64GB or higher internal storage, this isn’t a problem. But for budget models which usually have 16GB of storage or even less, there is usually a high chance of using the second slot for expansion of the storage most times. In such cases, users are only confined to using just a single SIM slot. We haven’t seen too many attempts to address this issue but UMIDIGI is taking the bull by the horn by working on a budget model that would pack triple SIM slots. The device is dubbed UMIDIGI A3 and is confirmed to launch on September 28.

The UMIDIGI A3 will have three SIM card slots and the third slot can be converted to an SD card slot. That still leaves users with two SIM slots. The most interesting part is that the first two SIM slots support dual 4G VoLTE connectivity, meaning the 4G network will run at the same time on both slots. This may likely be the first entry-level model to have such features. That isn’t all, the device will also come with dual cameras at the rear as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. UMIDIGI also hinted that the device will come with global bands and that should include band 20.
