Xiaomi has been working on its XiaoAI for quite a while. The company registered over 100 million active monthly users as early as August 2021. Eventually, the company added some generative AI features to XiaoAI. The latest news is about XiaoAI V6.126, which reportedly supports object removal from images and many other features.

XiaoAI now supports a number of generative AI based image editing features

The company officially announced today that they have added an AI image editing functionality to XiaoAI. It includes a total of five features including picture background conversion style conversion, and passerby elimination.

The image background conversion feature lets users to upload pictures to XiaoAI and make changes to the elements in the background of a photo. You can get an idea of this functionality from the image below. Notably, this is not an entirely new feature from Xiaomi. Older Xiaomi phones also have the ability to change the sky and overall lighting effect of the image. Nonetheless, the effect is expected to get better with the latest developments.

Another interesting ability of the company’s latest image model is that it can answer questions based on images shared with it. The image shared by the company suggests that the model is capable of generating recipes based on just an image of the available ingredients shared with it. Users apparently can also ask for recipes that help them meet certain goals such as losing fat.

The latest development also lets you change the style of your pictures. You can see a demonstration of this in the image below. You can choose between a number of styles such as anime.

As previously mentioned, another feature of the latest version of XiaoAI is the ability to remove unwanted people or pedestrians from your images. This looks similar to what Google offers with its Pixel devices.

The new XiaoAI could go against ChatGPT

Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, announced during his annual speech today that XiaoAi will be upgraded to a generative large language model. For the unaware, XiaoAI is Xiaomi’s equivalent of Google Assistant. If you didn’t hear of it before, it’s because the voice assistant is currently limited to the China ROM.

The company also showcased a video detailing what the generative AI-equipped XiaoAI can do. It will now intelligently answer your questions and will be able to hold a conversation similar to mainstream models like ChatGPT and Bard. The voice assistant will be able to do copywriting and even picture content according to the user’s text requirements.

The new XiaoAI can also help with summarizing and translating in real time. For Xiaomi products, the fresh XiaoAI can be a helpful in guiding users on how to use them.

The large language model is currently under testing and Xiaomi has started test recruitment. The new version of XiaoAI will first be supported on the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, Xiaomi 13 series, Xiaomi 12 series, Redmi K60 series, and Redmi K50 series smartphones. Xiaomi Sound speakers will also be able to participate in the first round of testing.

Users whose devices meet the requirements can apply for the test in the Xiaomi Community App or say “Experience the Large Model” to XiaoAI to go directly to the registration page.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi launched its latest Mix smartphone, Mi Mix 4. But did you know that Xiaomi’s latest smartphones come with an upgraded Xiaoai Translation offering a live AI subtitles feature?

According to a recent post on Weibo, the Mi Mix 4 brings a new feature dubbed Xiaoai Translation, enabling a live AI subtitle feature on the Mi Mix 4. The feature is similar to Google’s Live Caption feature on Android.

As per engineers at Xiaomi, the updated Xiaoai Translation is built on the company’s own self-developed simultaneous interpretation technology and is said to be the most advanced AI technology. The new Xiaoai Translation will help users translate quickly anytime, anywhere. Users can use the translation tool by pulling down the control centre. 

The Xiaoai Translation can be used to translate live videos, online meetings, or voice calls. Xiaomi claims that the Translation is stable, fast, and has little interference with reading. Also, it is compatible with a bunch of English accents.

Xiaomi says that the Xiaoai Translation will continuously build translation vocabulary based on known scenes required by users, improving the translation mechanism. Moreover, the Xiaoai Translation will bring support for more minor languages.

Xiaomi has also released a roadmap for the the Xiaoai Translation. The translation feature will be rolled out with the MIUI 12.5 stable update starting September to bunch of Xiaomi smartphones.

Mi Mix 4 Features and Specifications

The Mi Mix 4 sports a 6.67-inch curved OLED panel with a 20MP camera under display. It is powered by Snapdragon 888+ coupled with 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/ 256GB/512GB/1TB of internal memory. The new Mix smartphone runs MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 and boasts a 5000mAH battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging support. Further, it comes with a triple rear camera setup, including a 108MP main camera, 50x periscope camera and 13MP ultrawide camera with free form lens. The Mi Mix 4 starts at CNY 4,999 ($772) for the 4GB/128GB storage variant.

The Mi Mix 4 brings a slew of unique features, including anti-lost mode, deep binding of the SIM card and the handset, adaptive signal optimization, manual signal entry and point, control always on UWB and smart charging.

On the social media post, the company also added that the voice assistant went through 4 years of development with over 5 major upgrades an 91.7 billion voice interactions as well.

Notably, the AI also acts as a link between the various smart products from Xiaomi. This system is also pre installed in various speakers from the company, which includes Mi TVs, its various smart IoT devices, along with its popular smartphones as well. As of right now, its most commonly found in categories related to fitness, smart home, smart wear, smart office, children’s entertainment based products, smart travel, smart learning, and others.

Earlier this week, Xiaomi had officially unveiled the CyberDog. It is a quadruped robot, which functions similar to the Boston Dynamic’s Spot robot dog. Now, the company has just released an official video that showcases the new robot.

For those unaware, the CyberDog from the Chinese tech giant is a bio inspired robot that is powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Xavier NX AI Supercomputer for Embedded and Edge Systems paired with 128GB of near industrial grade SSD. It arrives with a number of cameras, microphones, and sensors on the head of the robot that gives it spatial perception comparable to the human eye. It also features various features like voice control and can even be controlled via a smartphone as well.

Now, the latest video from the company offers us a look at how it works in real life. Looking at the video, we can observe the quadruped robot being assembled, after which, it stands up and begins walking. Xiaomi even places an emphasis on its durability, having a shot of it functioning in the rain, while also highlighting its agility and mobility. Impressively, we can even see it perform a full back flip on its own.

As per official notes, the CyberDog is priced at 9,999 Yuan (roughly 1,540 US Dollars) and is a smart product that can be used to control other smart home appliances such as the TV, vacuum cleaner, air conditioner, and air purifier, since it has the XiaoAI system in built as well. All in all, its a pretty impressive product from the company.

We are less than a day away from witnessing the launch of the Redmi K40 series, and RedmiBook Pro devices in China. Ahead of the launch, the company has confirmed that its XiaoAI assistant will be arriving on RedmiBook Pro for the first time.

In a Weibo post, the company said that XiaoAI will debut on the RedmiBook Pro. In case you don’t know, the laptop will debut in China on February 25 i.e, Tomorrow. Anyway, this would be the first time the company’s Smart AI assistant is making its way to Windows machines.

In the past, XiaoAI has made its appearance on Smartphones, Smart TVs, Smartwatches, and Smart speakers. That said, the company in a poster, has teased that the assistant will support voice commands to make our life easier.

The image shows a weather widget displaying the condition of the day. In the window, the “How’s the Weather Today?” command appears prior to the results. Besides, users on Weibo have been asking if it would support & control Mijia devices out of the box.

However, the company hasn’t teased any other info so let’s wait for the official launch tomorrow to know about it. The RedmiBook Pro is likely to feature a metal body and a 2K display with ultra-thin bezels on all sides.

It may come in two sizes like 13 & 15-inches and Silver, Gray colors but one of them won’t have a dedicated numeric keypad. Under the hood, it will host Intel’s 11th Gen Tiger Lake H35 processors. This is said to be paired with GPUs up to Nvidia GeForce MX450.

Other expected features include an NVMe SSD storage, fingerprint scanner, Type-C port with Thunderbolt-4 standard, HDMI port, and support USB-PD charging.

Xiaomi Youpin has today launched a new product on its Youpin crowdfunding platform, a voice-activated wall lamp, for a price of 99 yuan, which is roughly $15. The store is also offering a nine-piece bundle for 699 yuan, roughly $107.

The highlight of this new voice-controlled lamp is that it changes the color based on the audible sound. There’s a Music Rhythm feature that is created for the game space which can interact with the sound of the game to change the light color.

The smartboard for the lamp can be spliced as well as combined on the wall and ceiling as per the user’s choice to design creative patterns. Xiaomi India has scheduled a launch event called “Smarter Living 2021” for September 29. The company is expected to launch a number of products such as Mi Smart 4 and Mi Watch Revolve to name a couple. Ahead of the event, the firm has been teasing these upcoming products on social media. Today’s teaser suggests that one of these forthcoming smart products will be XiaoAI Speaker Art.

The Xiaomi XiaoAI Speaker Art launched in China in the month of May for 349 yuan (₹3,383/$51). It is still selling for the same price in the country. Hence, we can expect it to be priced around ₹5,000 ($68) in India.

In Chian, this speaker is powered by Xiaomi’s XiaoAI voice assistant but in India, it should either feature Amazon Alexa or Google Assitant. Apart from that, the speaker may launch with a different name, however, with the same design and specifications.

That means, it will feature a metal build with 10,531 holes and a 16 million RGB LED strip at the top with capacitive touch keys for volume control, play/pause, and enable/disable far-field microphones.

It comes with a 2.5-inch speaker with DTS sound. It can be also paired with a second unit to experience 2.0 stereo sound. As for connectivity, it sports dual-band WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2.

Last but not least, it can be paired easily with devices running MIUI 12 but we are not sure if this feature will be available in India.

The company says that the Xiaomi XiaoAI Smart Mouse comes with an anti-bacterial shell and has a hidden microphone design for voice input support.

As the name indicates, the mouse comes with support for the company’s own XiaoAI Smart Assistant which can be triggered by long-pressing the voice button on the mouse. It supports features like voice input, real-time translation, smart home control, and more.

Xiaomi, which has already launched a few smart speakers in its home market China, has now launched yet another speaker — Xiaomi XiaoAI Portable Speaker. As the name indicates, it’s a compact portable speaker that can be easily carried around.

The speaker, which comes with the company’s own XiaoAI smart voice assistant, is priced at 49 yuan, which roughly converts to $7. It is now available for purchase through the company’s own Xiaomi Youpin website in China.

In terms of design, the new Xiaomi XiaoAI Portable Speaker comes in a compact square-shaped body that looks similar to the FM radio of earlier days. The white-colored product has rounded edges around the corner. The speaker is made up of ABS + PC material and has a USB Type-C port.

For connectivity, it comes with support for Bluetooth 5.0. There are just two buttons at the top of the speaker, along with a microphone — one for power and one for the mic. The XiaoAI smart assistant can be triggered just through a single voice command.

Xiaomi has been launching its new products with XiaoAI smart voice assistant built-in. Continuing the trend, the company has today released Xiaomi XiaoAI Mouse, which as the name itself indicates, comes with support for XiaoAI voice assistant.

The product will be available through crowdfunding in China on the company’s own website for a price of 129 yuan. However, that pricing is just for the crowdfunding campaign and the retail price will be 149 yuan.

As for the design, the new mouse looks similar to the Mi Wireless Mouse previously launched by the company. However, it adds a new button which when long-pressed, triggers voice assistant.

It comes with an antibacterial casing, a metal roller, and a hidden microphone. It has a USB Type-C interface and is powered by a built-in 750mAh battery which the company claims can offer 30 days of usage and 180 days of standby time.

This Xiaomi XiaoAI Mouse also marks the first entry of the voice assistant in the office use-case products that can be used with a computer. The voice assistant comes with support for thousands of smart skills, claims the company.

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi officially took the wraps off the much-anticipated Mi Band 5 in China earlier today (June 11). The Mi Band 5 is the successor to the popular Mi Band 4 which raked in a lot of sales for the tech giant.

As an upgrade, you may like to know all the new features that the new smart wearable brings with it. Here is a Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs Mi Band 4 comparison table which outlines all the differences between both smart bands and the new features onboard the Mi Band 5.

The most conspicuous difference between the Mi Band 5 and Mi Band 4 is the display size. Recently, Xiaomi announced that the company will be launching a new smart speaker in its home country China on 21st May, without revealing any details about the upcoming product. Now, just a day before the official launch, the company has teased its build.

In a new teaser image shared by Xiaomi on its Weibo account, the company has confirmed that the upcoming XiaoAI Smart Speaker will come with a metal body. This will be the first time that a smart speaker from Xiaomi powered by XiaoAI will have a metallic body.

It seems that the company is trying to place the product in the premium range witch such differentiating factor. This makes sense given that Xiaomi has tons of speaker products in the market, which mostly are in the same budget price bracket.

Along with teasing the upcoming smart speaker a few days ago, Xiaomi had also revealed a new milestone in terms of sales. The company had said that the sales of XiaoAI speakers have crossed the 22 million units mark.

While the company has revealed that the upcoming speaker will have metal body, nothing about the device in terms of specifications has been revealed and oddly, nothing has been leaked so far. However, the launch is just a few hours away so we don’t have to wait longer to know what it packs, how it’s priced and when it’ll be available for purchase.

For those who are unaware, XiaoAI is a smart AI-powered voice assistant from Xiaomi, similar to Apple Siri and Google Assistant, but it is built specially for Xiaomi and Redmi products and is currently limited to the Chinese market.

Xiaomi, which already has launched number of speakers in its home market, is now set to launch yet another one in China on 21st May. The company has confirmed that the upcoming speaker will be powered by XiaoAI smart assistant.

Along with announcing the launch date for the next smart speaker from the company, Xiaomi has also revealed that the company has so far sold more than 22 million units of speakers powered by XiaoAI smart assistant.

As for the upcoming speaker, there’s currently no information available from the company nor has it been leaked online. However, the official launch is just a couple of days away so it’s not a long wait.

Previously, the company had launched the Redmi XiaoAI Speaker Play along with the Redmi K30 smartphone in China a few months ago. It is priced at 79 yuan (about $11) and comes in White, Blue, Green, and Pink colors.

The Redmi XiaoAI Speaker Play users the latest generation of Bluetooth Mesh gateway which makes it a good option for controlling smart home products such as smart door locks and light bulbs.

It also comes with built-in third-generation “small love classmates” to support Little Love Male Voice. The speaker also has a new self-developed voiceprint recognition which listen to sound and with time, understands the user better.

Xiaomi has many times been accused of copying Apple’s design and it seems that the company has no issues with this. Xiaomi has patented a new smart speaker which looks very similar to the Apple HomePod.

The patent has been published on the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) website and the included schematics for the smart speaker with a cylindrical design looks awfully similar to the Apple HomePod.

It suggests that the smart speaker will come with a 360-degree sound output and could include a touch-sensitive surface area which will enabled users to interact with the device even when voice commands don’t work.

The upper part of the speaker may include a circular disc-like surface that could offer two things — Mini OLED display for showing connectivity status, volume, etc. or touch-sensitive surface for gesture-based controls. Which one of this will be adopted by Xiaomi has not been confirmed yet.

However, it seems more likely that the top part of the Xiaomi Smart Speaker will include a touch-based control system given that there are no control buttons on the device. While smart speakers are powered by voice assistants, they also come with physical buttons to control various aspects of the device.

If the device is limited to the Chinese market only, then we expect Xiaomi to use its own XiaoAI smart assistant. But, if the company has plans to make it available in other regions as well, then we expect the company to use Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa. It will be interesting to see which one of these gets picked up by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi launched its first smartwatch dubbed as Mi Watch in November of 2019. The Mi Watch received its first update in December, followed by another one in January, which brought several new features. Now, once again, Xiaomi is rolling out another update that adds XiaoAI virtual AI assistant related features.

The Mi Watch featured Xiaomi’s XiaoAI assistant since the launch but it is now getting an overhaul with the new OTA update that is being currently seeded out by the company.

First and foremost, XiaoAI can now speak in three different voices after the update. Users can select from two female voices and a male voice. Further, Xiaomi has enabled quick actions for XiaoAI on Mi Watch. This can be accessed by waking up the assistant and swiping up. Users will be welcomed with three quick actions based on their usage. The more they use their watch, the better the suggestions will get, says the company.

Also, Mi Watch gets a new XiaoAI skills menu with the new update. It can be accessed by swiping up two times after waking the assistant. Users can customize skills as per their choice to ease up their tasks. Last but not least, the update also brings new useful applications to the watch like a compass, barometer, calculator, and others.

At today’s Redmi launch event, the manufacturer announced a couple of other products too and one of them is its first smart display.

The RedmiTouch Screen Speaker 8 is Redmi’s own version of Xiaomi’s Mi AI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8 Smart Display that was announced last December. The smart display’s design is inspired by the first-gen Amazon Echo Show. It has a screen at the top while the speakers are below.

The touchscreen of the Redmi Touch Screen Speaker 8 is 8-inches with an HD resolution and a 178° viewing angle. Owners will be able to stream from 6 major video platforms that include Mango TV, Youku, Tencent Video, and iQiyi. They will also be able to stream audio from QQ Music and lots of other platforms. The kids are not left out as there is access to several educational platforms including storytelling platforms, encyclopedias, and the English-tutoring platform – 51Talk.

Streaming isn’t the only thing the Redmi Touch Screen Speaker 8 can do. It also has an HD camera for two-way video calls with phones, children’s smartwatches, and supported Mi TVs. There is also face recognition that can identify your child and automatically switch the interface to a customized kid-friendly one. In this mode, it will activate parental features and also turn on the blue-light filter.

Redmi says the smart display also has voice recognition and will automatically identify family members. It comes with the third-gen XiaoAI voice assistant and has up to 1600+ different skills. You can connect it to other smart home devices including cameras and doorbells, thus allowing you to view a live feed right on the smart display.

Redmi has put a price tag of ¥349 (~$49) on its smart display and it will go on the first sale on Friday, March 27, at 10 AM on Mi.com and Youpin.

A few days ago, we reported that Xiaomi has a smart display coming soon. Today, the Mi AI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8 (yeah, that’s a mouthful) has been announced in China.

Design

It is obvious where the inspiration for the Mi AI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8′ design comes from. For those who do not know, it is the Google Nest Hub/Nest Hub Max. However, Xiaomi’s own smart display is not a total copy of Google’s product.

First, the Mi AI Touchscreen Pro 8 has an 8-inch display, so it sits between the Nest Hub’s 7-inch screen and the Max’s 10-inch screen. Its base which is where the speakers are is curved, and in my own opinion, better-looking than Google’s own. The power and volume control buttons are behind the right side of the display while a camera sits above the screen.

Xiaomi’s smart display is only available in one color variant and that is Chalk, unlike the Nest Hub which comes in four colors (two colorways for the Nest Hub Max).

Mi AI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8 Specifications and Features

Xiaomi says the 8-inch screen offers 36% more screen estate compared to a 7-inch display. The resolution is unknown but the screen is said to have a high-image quality and has an oleophobic coating, so you won’t see fingerprints on it. Xaiomi also says the display is fully-laminated to reduce reflections.

The Mi AI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8 has three subwoofers – each of them measuring 50.8 millimeters in size and featuring Neodymium Iron Boron magnets. Xaiomi says the speakers are professionally tuned by DTS.

The smart display has a camera at the top for video calls. Xiaomi says it can be used to make video calls with supported models of its smart TVs such as the Mi TV Pro 55”, Mi TV Pro 65”, Mi TV 5 Pro 55” and Mi TV 5 Pro 65”. However, this feature will be rolled out as an OTA before February 28, 2020.

The Mi AI Touchscreen Pro 8 works with a plethora of smart home products covering 28 different categories and from up to 54 different IoT platforms including Philips, Viomi, Yellight, Smartmi, Konke, and Roborock. Connecting a device is easy thanks to its advanced Bluetooth Mesh Gateway. Xiaomi says it will roll out a feature by March 31, that allows you to connect new smart home devices to the smart display just by voice. All you have to do is ask it to find the device and it will do so and connect to it. However, the feature will be limited to Mijia devices and exclude smart security cameras, door locks, and doorbells.

Xiaomi has partnered with QQ Music for music streaming while iQIYI, Youku, Bilibili, and TikTok handle video streaming. There are also other audio streaming platforms they have partnered with for podcasts, storytelling, and audiobooks.  Kids also get custom content and there are security protections in place to keep your child safe.

The Mi AI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8 also doubles as an alarm clock, a digital photo frame, and a Bluetooth speaker in case you want to play something from your phone or other devices.

Smart displays are gaining popularity due to their ability to help you out in everyday activities. The company officially teased its new Xiaomi Smart Display Pro 8 earlier today, giving us a glimpse of its design as well.

The new teaser confirms the speaker with a display-on-top design that we saw on the leaked box earlier today. So you get an 8-inch tablet mounted on top of a speaker unit. We can’t see the back of the device, but it looks like the speaker extends a bit at the back. Considering its name, the smart display is most likely going to be of 8-inches. We can see a front-facing camera too which confirms its ability to make and receive video calls.

According to the leaked box of the device, the Xiaomi Smart Display Pro 8 will come with high watt speakers with built-in bass boosters, DTS professional tuning, and a high-performance audio amplifier from Texas Instruments, providing high efficiency, low distortion, and advanced multi-band dynamic response control algorithm. It should also come with the company’s XiaoAI smart assistant.

The teaser doesn’t reveal any availability or pricing details for the device, but it is being said that the smart display will be sold for around 599 yuan ($86). We can expect more details in the coming days.

Google recently announced a new feature for its Google Assistant that enables it to have continuous conversation. Now, a similar feature is being rolled out by China-based Xiaomi for its XiaoAI smart assistant with the version 3.0.

Making announced during the Xiaomi Developers Conference, the company claimed it to be the first smart voice assistant which is capable of supporting full-duplex natural continuous conversation on smartphones. However, its noteworthy that the current interrupt function is only supported by two devices — Mi 9 Pro and Mi 9.

The new update will now be rolling out to the users of Xiaomi and Redmi smartphone users and the company added that it is being released on an “Immediate Upgrade” command.

It has also added that the continuous dialogue can be achieved with a single wake-up, and other instructions can be interrupted at any time. Using the feature, the assistant stay active and listening so that you can continue to ask follow-up questions without needing to repeat the wake-up command each time.

The function also allows users to convert call content into text when the user isn’t available or is inconvenient for them to answer the call. The artificial intelligence can also communicate the automatic reply to the caller.

Xiaomi Mi Watch will come with a high-quality fluoro rubber strap which will be anti-allergic, sweatproof, and easily replaceable. The strap will feature a quick-release button, which should be similar to what we’ve seen on Huami’s Amazfit smartwatch lineup. This new information was revealed by Xiaomi’s VP, Heng Qu, who also revealed four different strap color options for the device.

The Mi Watch will come with at least four different strap color options at launch. There’ll be a Blue, White, Grey, and a Black one. We can also see that the buckle will feature the ‘MI’ branding.

The company also confirmed that the Mi Watch will come with the XiaoAI smart assistant. Huami’s smartwatches from the Amazfit series have featured XiaoAI, so this is not a surprising move. However, what’s interesting is that Xiaomi will offer three methods to activate the XiaoAI assistant on the watch. You can either long-press the crown or access the XiaoAI button from the screen or even activate it via voice (you’ll have to raise your wrist to turn on the screen first).

The Mi Watch will come with an MIUI for Watch OS. Given that Xiaomi is investing in a dedicated Watch OS along with its own app store, we can expect more smartwatches in the future. Inside, the Mi Watch will come with Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor with connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and even an eSIM. The watch is confirmed to feature speakers which means you should be able to make and receive calls on the watch, just like a smartphone.

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi launched its own voice-activated smart assistant dubbed XiaoAI which is installed on its smartphones and other products, including smart speakers and smart home products. Earlier this year, Lei Jun revealed that XiaoAI has been activated on a massive 100 million gadgets but that is definitely in China alone. We are yet to see the voice assistant gets adapted for its English users as well as other popular languages. That may change soon as popular speech recognition expert Daniel Povey has taken to Twitter to disclose that he will be joining Xiaomi in Beijing soon.

Povey is responsible for the development of the speech recognition tool kit – Kaldi. We expect the company to seal the deal soon and develop an adaptation for now Chinese speakers for XiaoAI. It would in no small way to help Xiaomi’s posture as an internet company as more XiaoAI-powered products could get released outside China. Let’s keep our fingers crossed on this one.

At a launch event today in China, Xiaomi has launched a number of gadgets, including the Mi Band 4 fitness tracker. Along with that, it also launched Xiaomi English Teaching Gadget, which is powered by smart assistant XiaoAI.

As said, the device’s screen measures only 4-inch and is small enough to be easily held on the user’s palm. It packs 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also comes with dual physical buttons.

It aims to change the English teaching method and comes with various methods of learning the language, including checking words fast, backing up words, and traveling abroad. It supports all three modes of function — listening, voice, and visual.

Powered by the company’s own Xiao AI smart voice assistant, the device comes pre-installed with five authoritative dictionaries, which includes Oxford Dictionary, Collins COBUILD Advanced, New Age Chinese-English Dictionary, Modern Chinese Dictionary, and Xinhua Dictionary.

The company has also included support for scientific correction of the pronunciation and true demographic demonstration. XiaoAI provides image + sound + pictogram + brain map, thus mobilizing all senses to make sure you learn the language as easily as your native language.

The company has revealed that the English Teasing Gadget powered by Xiao AI comes with support for 224 countries and regions around the world. It comes pre-installed with offline transactions of Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean languages.

The built-in offline version of this English Teaching Gadget also supports 4G Internet access and provides a Wi-Fi hotspot sharing network. While the standard model is priced at 499 Yuan (~$72), the 4G supporting model costs 999 Yuan (~$145). It will be available for pre-sale from tonight and will go on sale from 18th June in China.

LG’s Wallpaper TV seems to have a new competitor in town as Xiaomi has just unveiled its premium Mi Mural TV with a beautiful 65-inch custom Samsung display panel. The highlight of the new TV model is its super thin form factor that sticks to the wall like a painting. True to its design, Xiaomi is also offering a bunch of artworks in 22 genres and from 45 artists to be showcased on its new TV.

The Xiaomi Mi Mural TV has an overall thickness of just 13.9mm with a flat back design. This helps it stay flush to the wall, like a wall painting. Clearly, Xiaomi is looking to attract people who are fans of Samsung’s Frame and LG’s Wallpaper TVs.

Xiaomi managed to achieve this design by incorporating its power supply in the lower host. So, the speakers, motherboard, and even the power supply unit is integrated in the host at the bottom. The TV just houses a 65-inch custom Samsung 4K screen, which ensures its super thin form factor. Further, the frame gets a hint of blue enhancing the overall aesthetics.

The screen and the host are connected by a new MiPort line developed by the company. Xiaomi reports that this one line houses 30 cables inside, including its high-power supply and high-resolution video signal wire. If you are looking for specific figures, then note that this MiPort line supports 18Gbps HD signal transmission and 400W high power supply.

The host features an Amlogic quad-core 65-bit processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Mali-T830MP2 GPU. There’s 2GB +32GB of memory on board. It supports 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, 3x HDMI ports and 2 x USB ports. It also features a six-channel Soundbar and subwoofer that support Dobly and DTS-HD dual decoding.

Apart from showing off classic works of art on the TV, you can even showcase your family portraits, photographs, etc as a slideshow. It’s similar to what we have seen on LG and Samsung’s slideshow mode.

This Mi TV is also in line with the company’s recent AIOT initiative and in this regard transforms into a smart home control center. So, you can remotely view and control all of your smart home connected devices on the large screen with ease. Further, the TV is basically a XiaoAI assistant as well and comes with far-field voice recognition support. This enables almost all of the features of the XiaoAi assistant like asking questions, controlling smart home features etc, with just voice commands. Finally, Xiaomi has teamed up with Tencent Cloud for making and receiving video calls through the TV on its large screen.

Along with the Xiaomi Bluetooth Headset Air, the China-based company has also announced its new smart speaker — Xiaomi XiaoAi Speaker HD. As the name suggests, the speaker comes with the company’s own XiaoAi voice-controlled smart assistant.

The Xiaomi XiaoAi Speaker HD also comes with HiFi sound quality and 360-degree surround sound support. It is priced at 599 Yuan, which roughly converts to $87 and is currently up for pre-orders but will start shipping from 11th January.

In terms of design, the smart speaker from Xiaomi features a tower-like minimal design and measures 150mm x 150mm x 230mm. At a first glance, the speaker looks very similar to the Google Home series. The company has even opted to use the dark gray and light gray fabric that wraps around the speaker’s body.

It is made in such a way that it protects the internal components from dust but does not affect the sound transmission. The speaker is designed as a three-dimensional stereo structure that delivers an immersive 360-degree surround sound, says Xiaomi. On the top, there are four buttons — power button, volume up, volume down, and play/pause button.

The company also says that the Xiaomi XiaoAi Speaker HD comes equipped with high-power full-range speaker array that offers strong performance and rich musical expression. Xiaomi has also optimized sound field and the 104mm large-caliber woofer has a more accurate transient response.

The Digital Signal Processor (DSP) that comes equipped with the speaker delivers powerful loudness control and can automatically compensate and adjust the audio according to the volume, dynamically adjust the tri-band loudness for a balanced sound field, and offer clearer sound performance that’s natural, soft and resistant. For connectivity, it uses dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 technology to support A2DP music playback.

To ensure that it captures the user commands in one go, the Xiaomi XiaoAi Speaker HD comes in a ring of microphone array that consists of six high-sensitivity microphones. This ensures accuracy in voice recognition as well as quick response to those commands.

As said, the XiaoAi Smart Assistant from Xiaomi is powering the smart speaker, which enables users to control it through voice commands. It also enables controlling smart home devices switching the lights on/off or adjusting the brightness, etc.

Last year, Xiaomi launched its own voice-activated smart assistant named XiaoAI which is not just powering its smartphones but many other products, including smart speakers and smart home products.

Today, Xiaomi’s chairman Lei Jun announced through Weibo that Dr. Cui Baoqiu, vice president of artificial intelligence and cloud platform at Xiaomi has revealed that XiaoAI voice assistant has crossed the benchmark of over 100 million activations.

While there are many voice assistants in the Chinese market, XiaoAI is seeing the success mainly because of its deep integration with Xiaomi’s products. Also, other voice assistants such as Google Assitant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple‘s Siri are not up-to-the-mark in China because of the language barrier.

However, XiaoAI voice assistant from Xiaomi is remarkably similar to Google Assistant. It has the same colorful bars that appear when you are issuing voice commands. It can perform various operations such as open apps, take photos, translate menus, check weather information, among others.

Also, since it is also integrated with the smart home products from Xiaomi, it can also be used to turn on the lights, start a vacuum robot, and all sorts of other commands that Google Assistant (also Siri and Alexa) can also perform.

According to the data revealed by Xiaomi, the company’s smart speaker wakes up over 853,000 people every day with its alarm clock while the 800,000 housework per day with IoT devices. The company also says that the speaker plays 1354221 hours of music every day in Taiwan.

Xiaomi has been working on IoT devices since 2014 and has supported around 2,000 devices with a connection to smart devices exceeding 132 million. At the AIOT Conference in November last year, the company had revealed that XiaoAI had over 34 million monthly active users.
