2023 was a huge year for ByteDance, the owner of the popular app TikTok. The company saw its sales skyrocket to over $110 billion. This impressive achievement not only showcases the company’s growth but also signals a significant shift in the tech world, as it potentially overtakes Tencent, one of China’s internet giants.
The company has faced major scrutiny in markets like China & India
ByteDance’s journey has been remarkable, especially considering the economic challenges in China and intense scrutiny in major markets like the U.S. and India. Despite these hurdles, the company’s revenue growth mirrored its 2022 pace, rising from over $80 billion. This is a testament to ByteDance’s adaptability and innovative approach.
The company’s strategy goes beyond just social media. It’s leveraging TikTok’s massive popularity to venture into e-commerce and other areas. This diversification is crucial, particularly in times when relying solely on social media might be risky. ByteDance’s move into e-commerce is not just about expanding its business portfolio; it’s about redefining how social media platforms can drive economic growth.
In China, ByteDance is transforming Douyin into an all-encompassing platform, offering services like food orders and hotel reservations. This expansion is directly challenging established players like Alibaba and Meituan. Meanwhile, TikTok’s strategy in the U.S. and other international markets focuses on merging entertainment with shopping, as seen in its acquisition of Tokopedia’s e-commerce unit in Indonesia.
However, ByteDance’s journey is not without challenges. Its profitability, particularly as a private company, remains unclear. Also, its efforts to address national security concerns in the U.S. highlight the complex landscape international tech companies navigate.
Looking ahead, ByteDance’s ambitions in artificial intelligence and other tech realms show its desire to be more than a social media powerhouse. Though it has faced setbacks, like in its gaming venture, the company’s willingness to experiment and adapt could be key to its future success.
Technology companies often seek to make their products more attractive by collaborating with different brands. For example, we recently talked about the foldable phone created through a partnership between Honor and Porsche Design. Now, a similar collaboration has surfaced between Xiaomi and Disney. The company has launched the Xiaomi Dual Mode Keyboard and Mouse Set Disney 100th Anniversary Limited Edition for 299 Yuan (approximately $42). Here are the details…
Xiaomi Unveils Disney-Themed Keyboard and Mouse for Fans
Xiaomi continues to expand its product family, and the newest additions to its extensive catalog are the latest keyboard and mouse models. Despite consistently introducing new products to its existing market, one standout release is the Xiaomi Dual Mode Keyboard and Mouse Set, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Disney in this limited edition. This special edition adds a touch of uniqueness to Xiaomi’s already diverse catalog, which covers a wide array of products from A to Z.
The keyboard features slim and new keycaps that operate silently. The micro-arc surface is designed to perfectly fit the fingertips, and the pressure on the return and space keys in the main key area has been finely tuned for optimal performance. The keys provide improved rebound feedback, and the key travel distance is a moderate 2.8mm, striking a good balance.
As for the new mouse, its primary buttons are equipped with TTC micro switches, boasting a DPI of 1000. These switches offer an impressive click speed and a satisfying tactile experience. TTC micro switches are known for their quick triggers, stable performance, crisp and pleasing clicking sound, as well as a clear and comfortable feel.
Of course, as in any partnership, what stands out the most here is the design rather than the technical specifications. And Xiaomi Dual Mode Keyboard and Mouse Set Disney 100th Anniversary Limited Edition offers a colorful design for 299 Yuan (approximately $42). However, if you prefer a more simple design you can find a straightforward looking version at a lower cost on Xiaomi’s official website.
It looks like the product has a design similar to the MacBook keyboard, and it also looks really comfortable to use. But, before buying it, it’s a good idea to read and watch reviews to make sure it meets your expectations.
As Electric Bike manufacturers are pushing out new models every single week, a new player has emerged with a lineup that’s turning heads. GasGas, traditionally known for its high-performance motocross bikes, has rolled out its MXC range of electric mountain bikes (e-MTBs), blending its motocross heritage with the latest in e-bike technology.
All three bikes in the lineup are designed with carbon fiber
The MXC series, comprising three models, is GasGas’s answer to the growing demand for versatile, high-tech e-MTBs. Each bike in the lineup boasts a carbon fiber frame, known for its lightweight and durable properties. This choice of material signifies a commitment to quality and performance. The MXC models are designed to be agile and capable on various terrains, from challenging mountain trails to relaxing backcountry paths.
A standout feature of the MXC range is the innovative Eagle Powertrain system by Sram, marking Sram’s debut in the e-bike market. This system, developed in collaboration with Brose, balances high performance with reduced weight. The powertrain is paired with a 630-watt-hour battery, ensuring riders can enjoy extended adventures without frequent stops to recharge.
The MXC bikes also showcase a unique wheel setup – a larger 29-inch wheel in the front and a smaller 27.5-inch wheel in the rear. This “mullet” configuration offers a harmonious blend of agility and stability, making the bikes adept at handling a variety of terrains. Moreover, the bikes’ slack geometry provides a playful, responsive riding experience, focusing more on agility than long-distance endurance.
By integrating motocross expertise with cutting-edge e-bike technology, GasGas is poised to make a significant impact on the e-MTB market. While pricing details remain under wraps, the MXC range’s promising features suggest these bikes will be a hit among enthusiasts looking for a blend of performance, technology, and versatility on two wheels.
Beijing-based Moore Threads Intelligent Technology, a graphics processing unit (GPU) start-up, recently unveiled a cutting-edge GPU-based computing center, despite facing significant challenges due to US sanctions. Moore Threads, which specializes in designing GPUs tailored for AI training, announced its new GPU that will be central to the KUAE Intelligent Computing Centre. This center aims to cater to China’s burgeoning demand for training large language models, a crucial component in the AI sector. This initiative reflects a push towards technological self-reliance, a significant theme in the current era of tech competition.
Moore Threads also went through a round of layoffs to restrategize resources
The US sanctions have indeed impacted Moore Threads, limiting its access to necessary manufacturing and software resources. These restrictions are part of the US’s broader strategy to maintain its technological edge, especially in sensitive areas like AI and chip manufacturing. Despite these hurdles, Moore Threads has shown remarkable agility. After a round of layoffs, the company has refocused its resources on advancing its GPU development, a move that mirrors the challenges and resilience shown by Huawei Technologies under similar pressures.
The significance of Moore Threads’ new GPU and computing center extends beyond the company. It’s a part of China’s larger endeavor for chip self-sufficiency, a priority given the current global chip shortage and geopolitical tensions. The company’s successful funding rounds, totaling over US$525 million, underscore investor confidence in this vision.
Moreover, the KUAE computing facility’s compatibility with Nvidia’s CUDA platform suggests a strategic approach to ensure interoperability with existing technologies. This compatibility is crucial, considering Nvidia’s dominance in the GPU market and recent US export controls limiting Nvidia’s chip sales to Chinese companies.
Companies like Moore Threads are not just navigating a challenging business environment; they are actively reshaping it. Their efforts to innovate under pressure reflect a broader narrative in the tech world, where adversity often breeds ingenuity and resilience. As the global tech landscape continues to evolve, the story of Moore Threads serves as a compelling example of how companies can adapt, innovate, and thrive even under challenging circumstances.

On the camera front, the Oppo A59 5G is rumored to sport a dual rear camera setup with 13MP + 2MP lenses, complemented by an 8MP front camera for capturing vivid selfies. The device is expected to house a robust 5000mAh battery, supporting 33W fast charging for quick and efficient power replenishment. In addition to the specifications, Abhishek has also revealed the configurations and pricing of the A59 5G. Earlier today, we reported on the renders of the Redmi Note 13 series global variant. Five devices are expected, out of which three of them will be 5G-enabled, while the remaining two will be limited to 4G connectivity.
The 5G models are the same as the ones sold in China. However, the renders suggest that the vanilla Redmi Note 13 5G will be slightly different. Let’s go through what it is.
The renders of the Redmi Note 13 5G global variant reveal that it will have three rear cameras instead of two like the Chinese variant. The same happened for the Redmi Note 12 5G as well.
The images suggest that the international model will retain the primary 108MP main sensor. But unfortunately, it does not hint anything about the remaining two sensors. For the unaware, the Chinese version comes with a 2MP depth sensor just like its predecessor.
For the global markets, Xiaomi replaced the 2MP depth sensor on the Redmi Note 12 5G with a 2MP macro snapper and included an additional 8MP ultrawide unit. Perhaps, the same could happen for the international variant of Redmi Note 13 5G as well.
Other than the rear cameras, the handset will likely retain all the features of its Chinese counterpart.
The Redmi Note 13 5G sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 chip paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. On the software front, it boots MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
The device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It draws energy from a 5,000mAh battery and carries support for 33W charging.
After updating the Galaxy M53 5G and the Galaxy F54 5G with the latest One UI 6 based on Android 14, Samsung has now released One UI 6 update for the Galaxy A52 5G. Previously, the update was made available for the Galaxy A52s in several regions.
The stable One UI 6 software for the Galaxy A52 5G is currently available to consumers in Europe only. Perhaps, owners of the A52 5G devices in other regions won’t have to wait too long for the update. As usual, the update will also be released soon for the regular Galaxy A52.
The Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A52s are already running Android 14. However, One UI 6.1 is expected to be released for the three phones early in the next year, before Samsung ceases to provide significant OS updates.
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Android 14 Update
The latest update has A526BXXU5FWL1 / A526BOXM5FWL1 / A526BXXU5FWL1 firmware versions. The size of the update package is about 2207.35 MB in size. The OTA update also brings and integrates the latest December 2023 security patch update.
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G receives One UI 6 based on Android 14
Several UI enhancements are included in One UI 6, including a revamped Quick Panel, enhanced album art presentation in the notification shade, time-based notification sorting, more straightforward home screen icon labels, a repositioned clock on the lock screen, an in-depth weather widget, and simpler access to battery settings.
Among the highlights of the new features are camera widgets for the home screen, two-handed file and media dragging and dropping between applications, improved picture, and video editing capabilities, additional accessibility settings, greater security with the Auto Blocker function, support for one-time passwords for mobile hotspots, and more.
The users of Galaxy A52 5G can upgrade to One UI 6 based on Android 14. Simply head to Settings > Check for the update in the Software update section.

Now, Google has introduced a similar feature that allows you to remotely uninstall applications.
The feature introduced with Google Play Store version 38.8 is now available to all users for the first time. The Redmi Note 13 series is set to launch in global markets starting January 2024. The lineup will make its debut first in India on January 4.
Ahead of that, the company has been teasing the features of these phones. But everything about them is already known as international markets are getting the same models sold in China.
The only thing that’s not known is how much they will cost. Recently, we learned about the price of Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus in Europe. Today, the price range for India emerges on the internet.
Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus could cost the same as its predecessor in India
According to influencer Abhishek Yadav on X (formerly Twitter), the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus’ retail box carries a ₹32,999 price tag. This price is applicable to the 12GB + 256GB variant of the product.
It is a known fact that almost all electronic devices in India are not sold at the price tags mentioned on their retail boxes. Their official selling prices are usually much cheaper.

For that price, consumers will be getting a handset with an IP68 rating (dust and water resistance), a 6.67-inch 1.5K (2712 x 1220 pixels) 120Hz curved OLED display, a 200MP camera, and 120W fast wired charging support.
Other features of the phone include a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra chip, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, dual stereo speakers, an IR blaster, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection for the display, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
