Samsung Exynos 2400 outperforms the Apple A17 Pro: Tipster

Samsung is expected to equip its next generation of flagship smartphones with the Exynos 2400 SoC. The chipset is the company’s latest high end processor, and now, a tipster is claiming that it could surpass the iPhone 15 Pro Max‘s Apple A17 Pro chip.

Samsung Exynos 2400’s GPU may be faster than the Apple A17 Pro

The information arrives from known tipster Revegnus on X (formerly Twitter). In the tweet, a short summary of the Exynos 2400 SoC was shared. Here, he stated that the upcoming Samsung chipset features a GPU that was co-designed with AMD, which is capable of outperforming the GPU performance of the Apple A17 Pro. To recall, the A17 Pro is the 3nm chipset that powers the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which managed to score over 590,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmarking platform‘s graphics test thanks to its 6-core GPU.

In other words, the Exynos 2400 could potentially surpass this score. Revegnus further adds that the Exynos 2400 will be based on Samsung’s enhanced 4nm process and not the 3nm process. The company is sticking to the 4nm node over increased yields and improved performance as it has more “expertise” in this process. The Exynos 2400 will also have the first application of FOWLP, which basically implies reduced chip thickness and improved heat dissipation.

During the recent SLSI Tech Day event, Samsung unveiled certain key details regarding the upcoming Exynos 2400. The brand claims that the processor will offer 70 percent faster CPU performance along with 14.7 times faster AI processing speeds when compared to the Exynos 2200. For those unaware, the Galaxy S24 lineup will launch in both the Exynos and Qualcomm Snapdragon variants. So depending on the market, buyers receive the Exynos 2400 variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 version of the smartphones. In related news, the Exynos 2400 was recently spotted on GeekBench, running on the Galaxy S24+ model.

Infinix to launch contactless AirCharge wireless charging tech at CES 2024

At the previous CES (Consumer Electronic Show) tech events, Infinix showcased a couple of innovative charging technologies, from 180W Thunder Charge Technology to the revolutionary 260W All-Round FastCharge. The brand has now confirmed that it will unveil its AirCharge wireless charging and Extreme-Temp Battery technologies at the upcoming CES 2024 event.

Infinix’s AirCharge wireless charging technology

Infinix AirCharge technology to be unveiled at CES 2024

According to Infinix, AirCharge is a breakthrough in wireless charging, allowing users to charge devices without cables or physical contact with the charging pad. The technology supports charging at 0-20cm and works when coils are tilted at an angle of up to 60 degrees. Compared to traditional wired charging, AirCharge allows users to charge devices effortlessly during activities like gaming or watching videos.

When it comes to the safety of the users, Infinix AirCharge functions at a secure low frequency below 6.78MHz, providing consistent charging power of up to 7.5W. The system incorporates a comprehensive resonance and overvoltage protection (OVP) circuit, ensuring effective protection for the circuitry. This safeguards the charging process, guaranteeing safety even in situations where there are rapid changes in distance and position between the phone and the charging pad.

Infinix Extreme-Temp Battery technology to be unveiled at CES 2024

To address the challenge of smartphone performance in extremely cold environments, Infinix introduces the Extreme-Temp Battery technology. Developed with biomimetic electrolyte and fusion solid-state technology, this breakthrough allows the battery to function well at temperatures as low as -40°C. With a charging temperature range of -40°C to 60°C, the Extreme-Temp Battery ensures functionality and endurance in harsh cold conditions.

Some of these technologies could likely be seen on the upcoming Infinix smartphones that are expected to launch in 2024. Hopefully, the company will shed more details on it through the CES 2024 event. For those who don’t know, the tech exhibition will be held between Jan. 9 and Jan. 12 in Las Vegas, US.

Xiaomi 14 Pro is possibly skipping global launch, says report

Xiaomi launched its flagship Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro smartphones back in October. They were the first device to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and although that title has been taken by iQOO 12 for the global market, excitement for the Xiaomi 14 series is still high. But a new report suggests that the Xiaomi 14 Pro might be skipping the global launch, and only the standard 14 is expected to hit global markets in January.

Details on Xiaomi 14 Pro global launch

This clue comes from Xiaomi’s software development, spotted by eagle-eyed folks at Xiaomiui. The report suggests while Xiaomi is actively working on the global version of the new HyperOS for the Xiaomi 14, there’s no such activity for the Pro model.

Xiaomi 14 Pro launch

The latest internal test build for the 14’s HyperOS dates back two months, further suggesting the Pro might be getting the cold shoulder.

It’s important to remember this is just based on software development, and things could change when Xiaomi officially announces the 14 series globally next year. There’s also a rumor that instead of the Pro, Xiaomi might be focusing on a new “Ultra” model to sit alongside the 14. But for now, take this with a grain of salt.

The standard 14 still packs a punch. It boasts a large 6.36-inch OLED display with vibrant colors (thanks to 12-bit depth), a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and incredible brightness up to 3000 nits. The phone packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage for all your needs.

Around the back, you get a triple camera system featuring a 50MP main sensor with image stabilization, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens for bringing distant objects closer. The main camera’s aperture also adjusts automatically from f/1.6 to f/2.2 for ideal lighting in any situation. On the front, you get a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The 4,610mAh battery delivers lasting power, while the phone supports fast charging options: 90W wired, 50W wireless, and even 10W reverse wireless charging.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra color options tipped, may not offer overhaul design improvements

Xiaomi is expected to unveil its next-generation premium flagship phone, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, in the second quarter of 2024. As usual, rumors are swirling about its key details, and today, popular tech tipster Digital Chat Station shared some insights on its color options and other aspects.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra color options, design (rumored)

DCS claims the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will come in several shades, including a blue variant with a glass back and orange and black options with silicone skin. However, these colors reportedly belong to the engineering prototype, hinting at the possibility of additional choices, like white.

Regarding design, DCS suggests the display will retain the micro-curved edges while the back panel gets a streamlined bulge design. Notably, the metal middle frame no longer extends to the battery cover, resulting in a more unified and holistic aesthetic.

Tech blogger Smart Pikachu further adds that the circular camera module on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra might have a slight curve instead of the current straight-up-and-down orientation. If true, this suggests the overall design won’t deviate significantly from its predecessor.

Recent reports have revealed that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s camera setup will be headlined by the one-inch, 50-megapixel LYT-900 camera that will support variable apertures ranging from f/1.6 to f/4.0. It will have a 50-megapixel IMX8-series ultra-wide camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

Under the hood, the 14 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and it may support two-way satellite communication. It is expected to house a 5,180mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support. For security, it may feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. The 14 Ultra is expected to debut with the Xiaomi Pad 7 series of flagship tablets in April 2024.
