MediaTek Dimensity 9300 benchmark results are here, and they’re very impressive

MediaTek’s new flagship mobile chip, the Dimensity 9300, is officially out, and it’s a beast! Official benchmark results show that it scores over 2.2 million points on AnTuTu, which is incredibly impressive. Let’s take a closer look at the Dimensity 9300’s specific test scores in this story.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 official benchmark scores: Over 2.2 million points in AnTuTu

In the AnTuTu V10 benchmark, the Dimensity 9300 scored 2.207 million points, making it the first Android chipset to score over 2.2 million points. This outperforms Xiaomi 14 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which currently ranks first in AnTuTu’s October performance list, and the A17 Pro of the Apple iPhone 15 Pro series, by a full 600,000 points.

The Dimensity 9300 is unique in that it features four powerhouse Arm Cortex-X4 cores and four high-performance Cortex-A720 cores, but no efficiency cores.

This gives it a significant performance advantage over other Android chipsets, which typically use a combination of performance and efficiency cores. This means that the Dimensity 9300 is all about performance, and it shows in the benchmarks.

In the GeekBench 6 test, the SoC scored 2265 points in the single-core test and nearly 8000 points in the multi-core test, which is about 4% and 12% ahead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, respectively.

The Dimensity 9300 also features the latest Arm Immortalis-G720 GPU in a 12-core configuration, which outperformed all major competing models in the benchmark test.

Specifically, it scored 4880 points in the BaseMark ray tracing benchmark, 5638 points in the 3DMark Wild Life EXTREME benchmark, 347fps in the GFX 1080P Manhattan 3.1 off-screen test, and 103fps in the GFX 1440P Aztec vulkan off-screen test.

Thanks to its all-performance core architecture and new-generation GPU, the Dimensity 9300 has a significant performance advantage over its competitors. MediaTek also claims that the Dimensity 9300 is up to 33% more efficient than the Dimensity 9200 at the same performance level while offering a 40% improvement in peak performance.

Vivo and Oppo have both confirmed that their upcoming flagship smartphones will be equipped with the new Dimensity 9300 chip. It will be interesting to see how the Dimensity 9300 performs in real-world devices, and how it compares to other flagship chips.

Huawei P70 could launch with in-house cameras over Sony sensors

Huawei made headlines by launching its Mate 60 Pro model as its first ever 5G smartphone after three years. This was possible thanks to its new 7nm Kirin 9000s 5G SoC that was manufactured by SMIC. Now, it appears there is another smartphone component that will be built in-house and it will likely be featured on the upcoming Huawei P70 flagship device.

Huawei P70 to feature proprietary camera sensors

Back in October, we had covered a report talking about how Huawei was working on its own CMOS image sensors. The reason for this shift is due to its stock of Sony sensors running out. After it was hit with the US sanctions, Sony halted shipments of its image sensors to the Chinese tech giant. So now, the company is looking to build its in-house camera systems that will be featured on its next generation of smartphones.

Huawei-P60-Pro
Huawei P60 Pro

One of the first to include this proprietary imaging technology is likely the Huawei P70, as per rumors on Weibo (Via SamMobile). While the brand relied on Sony cameras until now, Huawei hasn’t renewed its contract with the Japanese giant for new sensors. With the P70 launch due, we can expect the upcoming flagship smartphone to feature in-house camera sensors. A previous report regarding the P70 also hinted at the device featuring an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.

Huawei’s P series smartphones are known for “Photography” and offer some of the best cameras on any smartphone. The camera specs and resolution are still unclear, but we can expect the primary sensor to be around 48-megapixel in resolution. The last gen P60 Pro model was announced with two 48-megapixel cameras (primary + periscope) and a 13-megapixel ultra wide angle lens. So we can expect a similar layout for the P70 as well. Keep in mind that this is still just speculation at the moment so take this report with a pinch of salt for now.

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch two new smartphone models from its Redmi and POCO subsidiaries. The Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G and the POCO M6 Pro 4G are rumored to launch soon, but prior to any official announcement, both models surfaced on a certification platform.

Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G & POCO M6 Pro 4G Surfaces on FCC

The Chinese tech giant’s two devices were spotted on the FCC certification platform. For those unaware, Xiaomi is planning on launching two new 4G models in the global market, with the latest online listing hinting at an imminent launch. The Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G surfaced on the FCC with the model number 23117RA68G. This smartphone features a 200-megapixel rear primary camera, which is paired with an 8-megapixel ultra wide angle lens.

Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G

The 200-megapixel camera supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) as well. Notably, the POCO M6 Pro with the 2312FPCA6G model number appears to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G. However, this device will feature different camera specifications. The main sensor on the rear will come with a 64-megapixel that retains the OIS along with an 8-megapixel ultra wide angle lens.

Both models are expected to run on Android 13 OS based MIUI 14 custom skin. Unfortunately, this was all the information that was shared on the FCC certification. It appears that the POCO M6 Pro 4G could be slightly thicker in size. Xiaomi will likely launch both devices at a competitive price tag. Previously, the Redmi Note 13 Pro surfaced on GeekBench and the global variant also surfaced on FCC last month. So stick around for more updates regarding this matter.

Bebird AuriCare Note5 Pro Review: This Is Your Personal Care Assistant

Bebird AuriCare Note5 Pro

How often do I need to clean my ears? What should I do if I feel itchy or even painful in my ears? When should I see a doctor if there’s a problem with my teeth or my nose? These are the questions for many people, and by the time you realize that you should go to see a doctor, it’s probably too late already. So the main focus should be on precaution rather than sitting back and waiting for the problem to be solved by itself.

Backgrounds

Earwax is a mixture of crushed epidermal keratin cells and secretions from the glands of the external auditory canal. The secretion of the ear canal consists mainly of the antiseptic and waterproofing agent triglycerides from the sebaceous glands. Some people may develop brown cerumen on their apocrine sweat glands. These glands are located in the outer third of the ear canal. Therefore, earwax mainly accumulates there, and cleaning them is an essential matter.

Also, let me share a story when I was growing up. I loved swimming a lot as a kid, but I didn’t like to wear earplugs, so water kept getting into my ears. Many times I needed to have my father, a doctor, check my ears with a flashlight, but he couldn’t get a clear image of the ear canal, so he simply put some ear drops in my ear, which worked most of the time thankfully. However, it would be much easier if we had a tool to check my ear in the first place.

Another story is when I had to do teeth cleaning a couple of years ago, I was ripped off by the doctor. After been drinking coffee for many years as a habit, there is some dental calculus within my teeth, and the clinic charges based on how much of that in my teeth. I ended up being charged much more than usual since the doctor said there was a lot in my teeth, but actually there wasn’t.

So hearing my stories, you would know how important it is to have a better idea of your condition before going to the doctor. And that’s why this Bebird Note 5 Pro can be your perfect personal care assistant.

Design

This personal care tool is made with a High Definition Endoscope, a Ring-controlled robotic arm, and a bunch of ear spoon heads. These components work with the APP to let you see clearly what’s the condition inside your body parts, then use the right tool to get things done.

The endoscope is really the key to the whole tool, it has a high-definition lens, and a built-in light around it, so when it’s in the ear canal, it helps visualize the whole situation in there, simple like that. The reason why it is very important is that, when you try to pick your ears by guessing what’s inside, it takes a lot of time and can be dangerous, sometimes it might hurt the canal or even the eardrum. Before you go to a doctor, the near-medical grade image can help you identify the problems first, or when you are using the tool, the doctor can also be connected and give you a remote diagnosis, it is very convenient.

There are also tweezers at the tip of the tool, along with a 360-degree ring-pressing button, this is like the professional tool a doctor may use. The tweezer head is powder metallurgy process, rubber-coated, so it does not pinch your ear whatsoever. The button area is all around the body, when you squeeze any place on it, it will mirror the same force onto the tweezers, enabling real human operation to happen, this is the magical function of the whole tool, very intuitive and accurate. Bebird claims the maximum permissible clamping force reaches 0.98 Newtons, 50000 of clamping cycles guaranteed, by saying this, it means even kids with delicate ears can be comfortable using these, and you will get a thumbs up as kind parents.

Now in order to fulfill the task at the tip of the tool, there are 4 types of heads, including the Spatula, Done, and Sponge, each type has two to spare, so the whole family can use it. 3 types of them are rubberized, 1 with a foam type, they can handle different situations. The most frequently used one is the rounded one, it does not put much pressure on your ear and can do certain type of job. And the other rubber one is more curved, it can seize the earwax better. The foam ones are made the same, but with the foam at the outer layer, this can definitely help to do a thorough cleaning.

User Experience

Let me quote some words from Wiki, “Some East Asians (including Yamato Japanese), Southeast Asians and Native Americans (including Inuit) are more likely to have the dry type of earwax (gray and flaky), while Africans, Europeans, and other East Asians (including Ainu) are more likely to have wet type earwax (honey-brown, dark orange to dark-brown and moist). 30-50% of South Asians, Central Asians and Pacific Islanders have the dry type of cerumen”.

So to deal with different kinds of earwax, multiple heads should be used. I am the dry type, and my body does not produce ear waste that much, so I usually clean my ears two times a month. If you are a wet type, then some more work is required, and Bebird is thoughtful enough to prepare 5 soft swabs for you to clean the lens and ear tips.

When I was using the tool, the setup process was very smooth. Just like some IoT products, it has a WIFI connection to bind the device to the phone, then use the app to help with the whole process. The cap is magnetic, once it’s pulled off, the device is on automatically. When it’s on, the image is really clear and I can navigate through the ear canal very efficiently, the image is always very steady. The tweezers are really intuitive, whenever I put a little pressure on the button, it immediately mirrored to the tweezers. But of course, there is a learning process in it, because you will be watching the phone while cleaning the ears.

I have also used it to check my mouth and nose, and it also works well. I can see most parts of my mouth without any problem, you can see some calculus accumulating again, it seems that I need to see a dentist again! I have also tried to check my nose, and it also works fine. Something to mention here, the tweezer is unremovable, so make sure whenever you use it just to do daily checking, the tip is recommended to be on all the time, otherwise the tweezer may pinch some of your body parts.

Now I wouldn’t be able to showcase the Remote Diagnosis function, simply because we don’t have family doctors. But if you do have a family doctor, this can be a very good feature to have for sure.

Verdict

During my one week time with the Bebird AuriCare Note5 Pro, I really enjoyed cleaning my ears with it. It opens up a new door to personal care by offering such a scientific tool like this, and it is an essential tool to be in the household.

Lucid Motors Joins EV Revolution with Tesla’s NACS Charging Standard

As the electric vehicle (EV) market continues to expand, Lucid Motors has taken a significant step by embracing the North American Charging Standard (NACS), a system initially developed by Tesla. Starting in 2025, Lucid’s electric cars in North America will transition from the Combined Charging System 1 (CCS1) to NACS. This move paves the way for Lucid car owners to access Tesla’s vast Supercharging network, which boasts over 15,000 charging stations.

Tesla has confirmed that NACS can support upto 1000-volt systems

The adoption of NACS by Lucid is a reflection of a broader industry trend, signaling a gradual phase-out of the CCS1 charging standard. Previously, Lucid had reservations about NACS, particularly regarding compatibility with their high-voltage battery systems. However, any such concerns have been resolved, and even brands with a focus on high-voltage systems are now aligning with NACS. Tesla has confirmed that NACS can support systems up to 1,000 volts, which is suitable for the fast-charging needs of modern EVs.

Lucid

Peter Rawlinson, Lucid’s CEO, expressed that the integration of NACS is crucial for providing customers with more reliable and convenient charging options. He also emphasized the importance of a unified charging infrastructure to encourage EV adoption in the U.S.

The transition period until the shift in 2025 allows for the establishment of a more robust NACS-based charging network. SAE International is working to standardize the NACS connector, and various suppliers are expected to develop and offer compatible equipment, ensuring Tesla does not remain the only provider.

While Lucid has made its position clear, some major automakers like the Volkswagen Group and Stellantis have not yet announced a switch to NACS, leaving a bit of uncertainty in the industry’s direction. Nevertheless, the future of EV charging in the U.S. seems to be consolidating around a single, high-voltage standard, which could be a game-changer for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

Kansas Could Power Up Chevy Bolt’s Electric Dreams for the Future

The Chevrolet Bolt’s journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster in the EV Market. Initially axed due to outdated hardware and profitability challenges, the Bolt’s impressive sales figures have forced GM to rethink. The once-discontinued model is now poised for a comeback, potentially riding a new wave of innovation from the heart of Kansas.

GM might shift its production to Fairfax, Kansas from Michigan

The whisperings of GM’s production strategies suggest a shift from Michigan to Fairfax, Kansas, for the Bolt’s resurrection. The tentative labor agreement between GM and the United Auto Workers (UAW) hints at a $391 million infusion into the Fairfax Assembly plant, earmarked for an unnamed “future electric vehicle.” While not officially confirmed, it’s speculated that the investment could breathe new life into the Bolt.

Chevrolet

Fairfax, a plant responsible for models like the Cadillac XT4 and the sturdy Chevrolet Malibu, now faces a transformative opportunity. Amidst a time when EVs are becoming the focal point of automotive evolution, and chip shortages have left industries scrambling, this move could revitalize the plant’s future and secure jobs for its over 2,000 workers.

This potential pivot to Kansas is part of a broader narrative for GM, which includes exciting ventures like an all-electric Corvette. This not only represents a significant technological shift but also a geographical one, as it may mark the first time a “Corvette” is built outside its traditional Kentucky home since the 1980s.

GM’s journey with EVs has been fraught with challenges, notably in scaling up its new Ultium EV lineup. Investor skepticism has loomed large after a few turbulent quarters. However, it’s worth pondering if this hesitance stems from GM’s production capabilities rather than the market’s appetite for electric cars.

Moreover, the development signifies a strategic win for the UAW, especially following the historic strikes. It appears the future of electric mobility, at least for GM, will likely be powered by union labor, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act incentives and the recent inclusion of Ultium battery plant workers in the union fold.
