Aito’s Unique Approach with the New M7 SUV aims to Shake Up China’s EV Market

While most auto brands flaunt their cutting-edge technology or performance, Chinese EV maker Aito is turning heads for a different reason—customer satisfaction. Backed by tech giant Huawei, Aito’s newly revamped M7 SUV has been such a hit that production is struggling to keep pace with demand. But what sets the brand apart is its innovative approach to customer relations: compensation for delivery delays.

Aito might be a strong Tesla competitor in China soon enough

For each day an M7 buyer waits beyond the scheduled delivery, Aito promises a 200-yuan ($27.35) payback, capped at 10,000 yuan. Although this might appear to be a mere PR stunt, the decision marks a significant shift in the fiercely competitive electric vehicle market. In an environment where missing a deadline can result in losing a potential customer to competitors like Tesla, Li Auto, or Nio, Aito’s strategy has both short-term and long-term implications.

China

The short-term gain is obvious—keeping impatient customers loyal to the brand. But it’s the long-term implications that make the move truly intriguing. Aito is setting a precedent for consumer-focused practices in an industry where the spotlight is often on technology and performance metrics. Essentially, Aito seems to be saying that the customer experience is just as crucial as the vehicle itself. This could herald a sea change in how other companies market electric vehicles, with a greater focus on the buying process, not just the car.

With over 60,000 orders in just one month for the M7, Aito has laid down the gauntlet to other EV giants, particularly as it looks to meet China’s booming 2023 sales target of 8.5 million electric cars. With the M7 offering a driving range of 1,300 kilometers and running on Huawei’s HarmonyOS, the brand shows promise in tech as well as customer service. While it’s still early days, this new angle could very well become a key part of Aito’s path through the Chinese electric vehicle market.

Alibaba.com is Attracting Merchants Affected by Regulations on TikTok ECommerce

Surprisingly enough, Alibaba.com is emerging as a safety net for TikTok merchants as the company struggles with multiple regulations. These restrictions led TikTok to halt its online shopping activities in the country, leaving many small-scale sellers in a bind. Alibaba.com, Alibaba Group’s wholesale platform, has rolled out the S Plan to offer a soft landing for these merchants. The initiative includes support for “traffic flow, operations, and logistics,” and seems perfectly timed to attract businesses looking for an alternative.

Alibaba might be pushing for expansion through this move

The S Plan offers a convenient “one-button relocation” feature, allowing merchants to easily set up shop on Alibaba.com. Additional perks include three to six months of traffic support and personalized export plans tailored for the Southeast Asia market. The platform will also allocate special service staff for individual support to manage logistics and accounts, aiming to make the transition as smooth as possible.

While Alibaba’s move appears strategic, it’s more than just a business opportunity. By offering refuge to TikTok sellers, Alibaba emphasizes its commitment to creating a stable environment for “B2B digital foreign trade,” especially when there’s a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the Southeast Asia e-commerce landscape.

It’s worth noting that Alibaba has been aggressively pushing for overseas expansion. They recently invested an extra $845 million in Lazada, their Southeast Asian online retail wing. With this new initiative, Alibaba is not only providing a platform for TikTok merchants but also fortifying its presence in a region with lucrative growth potential.

TikTok’s previous setbacks in Indonesia suggest that the platform might be fighting an uphill battle in the country. Alibaba’s latest action could pave the way for it to consolidate its foothold in Southeast Asia, even as it offers a lifeline to beleaguered sellers. The current scenario adds a new chapter to the ongoing saga of e-commerce warfare, where Alibaba seems keen on turning a challenge into an opportunity.

BYD, initially named “Build Your Dreams,” has transformed from a rechargeable battery company to a global powerhouse in the automotive sector, specializing in electric and hybrid vehicles. Their dedication to innovation and sustainable transportation has solidified their status as a strong contender in the fiercely competitive global market.

Recently, BYD has announced impressive financial results. They anticipate a substantial net profit for the first three quarters of 2023, ranging between CNY 20.5 billion to 22.5 billion ($2.87-3.15 billion), marking a remarkable year-over-year increase of 120.16% to 141.64%. To break it down per share, it amounts to CNY 7.06 to 7.74 ($0.99-1.08).

BYD

BYD Auto also exceeded expectations in September 2023 by selling 287,454 vehicles, including a strong export of passenger cars, bringing its total sales for the year to 2.07 million vehicles. The company aims to reach an ambitious annual target of 3 million vehicles.

BYD’s Rise: More Sales and Smart Moves Lead to Higher Profits

What’s fueling these robust numbers? Primarily, it’s BYD’s dominant position in the new energy vehicle market. They’ve achieved remarkable sales in the third quarter, solidifying their standing as a global leader in this field.

However, their success isn’t solely reliant on car sales. BYD has also excelled in branding, adeptly managing production costs, and leveraging their extensive scale. Even in the face of tough competition, they remain on an impressive trajectory.

Notably, BYD’s mobile components and assembly division is thriving. This is due to an expanding global market share, a resurgence of interest from Android-based clients, and the growing demand for smart technology and energy-efficient vehicles. They’ve optimized their operational strategy, resulting in improved profit margins.

In a surprising development, BYD surpassed Ford in August, securing the fourth position in the world’s top car brand rankings. They are now in close pursuit of automotive giants like Volkswagen, Toyota, and Honda. Their progress is nothing short of remarkable!

Looking ahead, BYD is focused on enhancing brand visibility, capitalizing on economies of scale, and maintaining cost efficiency. The future appears promising for this automotive titan.

iPhone 15 Sales Reflect China’s Economic Slowdown and US Strength

The US and China continue to compete on many fronts. Even though there isn’t an official dispute between the two countries, they try to harm and dominate each other, especially through trade and tech wars. It appears that the tension between the governments is also affecting the people. Recent research indicates that iPhone 15 sales have dropped in China but surged in the US due to different economic and political factors. Here are the details…

China’s Struggling Economy, Rising Domestic Rivals Weigh on iPhone 15 Sales

China is undoubtedly one of the most significant smartphone markets in the world. Due to its population and increasing economic purchasing power, this Asian country is the center of attention for many technology companies. Of course, Apple is no exception. The company, which both produces and holds a significant market share in China, generates substantial revenue from this region.

iPhone 15

However, tensions between the U.S. and China, along with the global economic crisis, are affecting this business relationship. In China, sales of the iPhone 15 series are down 4.5% compared to the iPhone 14 series in the first 17 days of sales. This is likely due to a number of factors, including the country’s struggling economy, the rise of domestic smartphone rivals like Huawei, and ongoing political tensions between the US and China.

Chian iPhone 15 sales

In contrast, sales of the iPhone 15 series in the US are up double digits compared to the iPhone 14 series in the first 9 days of sales. This is likely due to a number of factors, including the country’s strong economy, the popularity of the iPhone brand, and the lack of strong domestic smartphone rivals.

It is too early to say whether the early sales trends in China and the US will continue. However, the data does suggest that Apple is facing some headwinds in the Chinese market, while its US business remains strong.

Is Apple Underpricing? Crafting iPhone 15 Pro Max for $558: Apple’s Rising Production Costs Across the New Series Disclosed

Apple introduced the iPhone 15 family in an event held last September. The lineup, consisting of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, garnered attention not just for its features but also for its pricing. Notably, the Pro Max starting at $1,199 caused the American tech giant to face criticism. Do you know the actual cost to produce this phone? Recent information has revealed the production cost of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Here are the details…

iPhone 15 Pro Max Is Apple’s Most Expensive Flagship To Build, Costs $558 To Make

The rumor that Apple would increase prices for its new models had been circulating in the media for a long time. Although this didn’t happen for the standard models, the iPhone 15 Pro Max was introduced at a price of $1,199, which is $100 higher than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This represents an approximate 12% price hike. Of course, Apple didn’t make this decision without reason. The new models come with significant changes in both technical specifications and interior design, which led to increased costs.

According to a recently published report, Apple spends $558 per unit to produce the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This represents a 12% increase in cost compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Additionally, other iPhone 15 models are also more expensive to produce than their predecessors. The iPhone 15 Pro, for instance, is estimated to cost Apple $523 to produce, which is about 8% higher than the cost of the iPhone 14 Pro. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Plus has a production cost of $442, which is 10% higher than that of the iPhone 14 Plus.

However, the base iPhone 15 has the biggest cost difference compared to any iPhone 14 model from 2022. Reports estimates that the 6.1-inch model costs Apple $423 to make, making it 16 percent higher than the iPhone 14, which is strange to hear, especially considering that on paper, the iPhone 15 is regarded as an iterative update.

It’s worth noting that these are just estimates, and the actual cost of producing the iPhone 15 series could vary depending on a number of factors, such as component prices and yields. However, it’s clear that Apple is investing heavily in its flagship smartphones, and that cost is being passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices.

This Austrian company is about to refresh its Nokia smart TV lineup. Five models have come up on Bluetooth SIG. Let’s have a look at them.

Nokia Logo Featured

NokiaMob has spotted upcoming Nokia-branded smart TVs on Bluetooth SIG. There will be a total of 5 models and all of them will support Bluetooth 5.1.

These televisions carry the following model numbers.

  • HN24GE320C
  • HN32GE320C
  • FN32GE320
  • FN40GE320
  • FN43GE320

The ‘HN’ models will come with HD resolution (1366 x 768 pixels). Whereas, the ‘FN’ models will offer FHD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels).

As far as sizes are concerned, the HD TVs will be available in 24 and 32 inches. On the other hand, the FHD TVs will come in 32, 40, and 43 inches.

These televisions are manufactured by Express Luck Technology Limited. This company has an annual production capacity of 8 million devices in China. It even makes Sharp-branded TVs.

Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have on these forthcoming Nokia smart TVs. They will most likely boot Android TV or perhaps the new Google TV. There should also be support for all the leading streaming platforms.

ColorOS 14 public beta live for Oppo Find X6, X5, Reno 10 Pro+, 9 Pro+

Oppo has been beta testing the ColorOS 14 on many smartphones. Recently, the brand announced closed beta program for the OnePlus Ace 2, Ace Pro, and OnePlus 10 Pro in China. And today, it has announced a public beta update for a bunch of its flagships, including the Oppo Find X6, Find X5, Reno 10 Pro+, and more. Here are the details.

ColorOS 14 should bring all the Android 14 features

Oppo has been testing ColorOS 14 on the Find X6 series and Reno 9 series for several weeks. However, the program was limited to a handful of users. Now, the company has announced the ColorOS 14 public beta program for the Find X6, Find X5, Reno 10 Pro+, and Reno 9 Pro+. Oppo is starting to recruit beta testers in China today for the next two days. The company will review the candidates within 5 days and begin rolling out the update shortly.

Before upgrading to Android 14-based ColorOS 14, be sure to back up your important personal data to avoid losing it due to incompatibility or other issues. Oppo warns that many popular third-party apps are not yet compatible with Android 14. After upgrading, these apps may not work properly (for example, they may crash, freeze, have black screens, or drain your battery).

While Oppo is doing a good job releasing beta updates for Android 14, none of its smartphones have received the stable update yet. This is not far behind the competition, but it is not as good as Oppo’s performance last year, when it was one of the first OEMs to release a stable Android 13 update. The Chinese company has confirmed it will be officially launching the latest ColorOS 14 on November 14.
