With its large stand and contemporary canvas-like design, it’s like a piece of art for your living room. And the materials used in its construction are just as impressive. Hisense TV Art R7

Hisense recently announced the Art TV R7 in China with a design like no other. The vintage design of the TV combined with a stand makes it more like a decorative you can keep in your living. The official description highlights that the Hisense Art TV R7 aims to replicate the craftsmanship of the Italian linen brand SOLBIATI. It boasts a leather-like texture, a warm and soft fabric feel, and a minimalist, low-saturation Morandi white color, which embodies “a harmonious fusion of art and technology.”

Talking about the specifications, the Hisense Art TV R7 brings a 55-inch display with a 4K resolution and 95% DCI-P3 color gamut. It features a detachable vertical stand, so you can mount it on the wall or use the stand for a more versatile setup. The TV is powered by a quad-core A73 processor for smooth performance, and it has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage for your apps and content. The TV also produces 24W of sound output for an immersive audio experience to match its stunning visuals.

While there have been various rumors regarding the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE series, the company is also working on a Galaxy Tab A9 lineup of tablets as well. But before any official announcement, the Galaxy Tab A9+ model was spotted on a certification website.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ launch near

Previously, we had reported on the Galaxy Tab A9+ being spotted on multiple certification websites like TDRA. This time around, the upcoming tablet model has surfaced on the NBTC certification. The online listing reveals that the device carries the SM-216B model number. Unfortunately, the database did not reveal any other finer details apart from its name and model number. However, the certification sighting hints that the launch of the tablet is just around the corner.

Samsun Galaxy Tab A9+

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Specs

Based on our previous reports, the Galaxy Tab A9+ is expected to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC that will be paired with 4GB of RAM. The device is rumored to run on Android 13 OS out of the box with Samsung’s One UI custom skin on top. iQOO Z7 Pro Review: Thin & Light Performance Champion on Budget

The iQOO Z series is the brand’s most affordable smartphone lineup in India. These devices fall under the ₹15,000-₹25,000 price bracket.

Earlier this year, the company debuted the iQOO Z7 in the country. It was the most powerful handset in its segment when it went official, thanks to a MediaTek Dimensity 920 chip underneath.

But for unknown reasons, the product was shortly replaced by iQOO Z7s. The ‘s’ variant has an interior Snapdragon 695 SoC.

Now, months later, the brand has introduced iQOO Z7 Pro in the region. This phone is positioned as a higher version of the Z7 priced at ₹23,999 and ₹24,999 for 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB memory configurations, respectively.

Though interestingly, the Z7 Pro does not have any resemblance to the Z7. Even the feature set is different.

Anyways, despite the differences, this smartphone makes sense for its asking price. Let’s find out how in my review.

Before I share my experience with the device, I would like to let readers know that this review is based on my first-hand experience with a unit loaned to me by iQOO India. However, the company had no early look at this article or contributed any editorial input.

This iQOO is built different

The iQOO Z7 Pro is unlike any other iQOO smartphone on the market. That’s because it is originally not an iQOO device. The handset was first introduced as Vivo S17e in China. But in India, it is sold under the iQOO banner.

Thus, the product feels more like a Vivo phone. It comes with a thin and light body featuring a matte curved glass panel on the back and a plastic frame. It can be availed in either Graphite Matte or Blue Lagoon color options.

The handset is well-built and is very comfortable to hold. It measures just 7.36mm in thickness and weighs about 175g.

The front of the phone is occupied by a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display. This 10-bit screen offers a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), 388 PPI, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 300Hz touch sampling rate.

The display is well-calibrated and is capable of displaying natural colors in ‘Pro’ mode. The smart switch refresh rate option is well-optimized and it does not force the panel to 60Hz in most apps like on the vanilla iQOO Z7.

The centered punch-hole screen also supports HDR video playback and is certified by Netflix as well. It can reach a maximum local brightness level of 1300 nits. Outdoor visibility is not an issue either.

The device has a single usable rear camera but its output is excellent for the asking price. The main snapper is an OIS-enabled 64MP Samsung GW3 sensor and it is paired with a 2MP depth sensor and an LED ring light (Aura Light). On the front, there’s a 16MP Samsung 3P9 sensor.

Both the rear and front cameras are capable of clicking images with almost true-to-natural colors. They are even capable of reproducing skin tones nearly accurately. This is praiseworthy for a smartphone at this price.

Even the video recording is good and the ‘Aura Light’ really comes in handy in low-light situations. The pictures taken with this light give Polaroid vibes with some of the filters and portrait styles.

Yet retains core iQOO features

Despite being a rebranded Vivo phone, the iQOO Z7 Pro does behave like an iQOO product. It is the most powerful smartphone released under 25000 in India in 2023.

The device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chip, which is found inside the more expensive Vivo V27. This TSMC 4nm-based silicon is one of the most powerful mid-range mobile chipsets on the market. It is paired with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 2.2 storage.

The handset is capable of scoring around 716,000 points on AnTuTu. Whereas, on Geekbench, it can score about 1180 points and 1870 points in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

iQOO Z7 Pro

On 3DMark, the phone has a stability rate of over 95%. Even in CPU throttling tests, it can retain above 90% of its performance.

As benchmark scores suggest, the product performs extremely well in day-to-day usage and runs cool. There are no stutters whatsoever.

Even the 5G performance is great without any call drops and excess heating. It is probably the only thin and light smartphone capable of offering good gaming performance in this price range.

The core DNA of iQOO smartphones has always been performance and iQOO Z7 Pro retains it despite being built differently.

Some things are lacking

When I reviewed the iQOO Z7 earlier this year, I complained about certain annoying issues on Android 13-based Funtouch OS 13 related to the implementation of promotions (ads). Sadly, these problems also exist on the iQOO Z7 Pro.

Further, the handset’s haptics are almost non-existent. The vibration motor is so terrible that I missed incoming calls when the phone was in the pocket of my pants/shorts. This is a serious issue if you don’t keep your smartphone in ringer mode.

iQOO Z7 Pro

The battery life is fine as it can easily last a day unless you game more. However, the unit I received takes about an hour to charge though the phone is capable of charging fully in around 30 minutes with the included 66W charger and that’s what other reviewers experienced. Also, the volume level of Bluetooth audio is too low for some reason.

I believe these two issues are limited to my unit. I have reached out to iQOO regarding the same and will update the article if and when I get a response.

Finally, you only get a single bottom-firing speaker. It is loud but not immersive and is also easy to block by mistake.

Fares well against the competition

Not a single product is perfect and the iQOO Z7 Pro is no exception. In spite of the shortcomings discussed above, it fares well against the competition.

Although there are many handsets in this price range, I consider Realme 11 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro to be its competitors as they are immensely popular among general consumers.

iQOO Z7 Pro

The iQOO Z7 Pro is more similar to the Realme 11 Pro as they both focus more on the design and camera part. Having used both devices, my preference is towards the former.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 12 Pro still continues to be the best multimedia device (non-gaming) even over half a year after its release. So if you are into that stuff, that’s the one you should go for.

In a nutshell, if you want a smartphone under ₹25,000 that boasts a thin and light design without compromising on performance, then iQOO Z7 Pro should be your first choice.

Bose debuts new QuietComfort Headphones and Earbuds with Immersive Audio

Bose has officially announced its new Ultra line of headphones and earbuds—the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, and QuietComfort Headphones. The new devices feature a number of upgrades over their predecessors, including a new Immersive Audio feature that creates a multi-dimensional soundstage without the need for specialized content. So let’s talk about them here.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones

The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones are Bose’s new flagship headphones, replacing the Noise Cancelling Headphones 700. They offer the same excellent active noise cancellation (ANC) as the 700s but with a few new additions.

One of the most notable new features is Immersive Audio. This feature uses an onboard inertial measurement unit (IMU) and proprietary Bose digital signal processing software to create a virtual soundstage that surrounds the listener. Users can choose between two modes: Still and Motion. Still, mode is designed for when you’re sitting or standing still, while Motion mode uses head tracking to keep the sound in front of you as you move around.

Another new feature on the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones is improved call quality. Bose says its new signal processing, chipset, and advanced microphone technology can pick up your voice from all angles, even in noisy environments.

The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones also have a new design that sets them apart from other Bose headphones. The headband is now made of metal, and the device has minimal seams and part splits. The volume control has also been changed to a capacitive touch strip.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

Moving on, the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds replace the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II. The new earbuds feature a new design with a streak of silver metal running down the stem, as well as tweaked stability bands for improved comfort and fit.

The earbuds use dynamic microphone mixing and adaptive filters to improve call quality in noisy environments. The microphones on each earbud work together to determine which microphone is picking up the least wind noise and then select the best noise filter to minimize background noise.

As for the battery, it offers up to six hours of battery life on a single charge, or up to four hours with Bose Immersive Audio enabled. An optional new wireless charging case cover is also available for $49. The case cover easily slips on the existing charging case to enable wireless charging.

Bose QuietComfort Headphones

In addition to the QuietComfort Ultra line, Bose also announced a new version of its QuietComfort Headphones. The new QuietComfort Headphones are essentially the QuietComfort 45 with a few minor upgrades, such as improved call quality and multipoint Bluetooth connectivity. They will be available in Black, White Smoke, and Cypress Green.

Pricing and Availability

Pre-orders for all three new Bose devices are now open on Bose.com. The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and Earbuds will be available in Black and White Smoke and go on sale in early October for $429 and $299, respectively. The QuietComfort Headphones will be available on September 21 for $349 in Black, White Smoke, and a limited edition Cypress Green colors.

As of writing this article, five brands have confirmed events in the next few days. These companies are Honor, Motorola, Redmi, Vivo, and Tecno.

Two of them will unveil foldables phones. While one of them will take wraps off new-gen models in a globally popular mid-range series.

As far as regions are concerned, two of these conferences will take place in China, one in Singapore, and the remaining two in India.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the handsets that are about to launch soon.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

1. Honor Purse V

The Honor Purse V was initially showcased as a concept smartphone at IFA 2023 earlier this month. But recently, the brand confirmed that this device will be presented in China on September 19 (Tuesday) and will be available for purchase.

The Purse V from Honor is an outward folding foldable smartphone like the Huawei Mate Xs series. However, it is designed more as a fashion accessory than a productivity machine.

As the name suggests, the phone mimics a purse with its detachable straps and multiple AOD (Always-on Display) styles for its screen. Rumors say that it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC and supports 35W charging.

2. Motorola Edge 40 Neo

It comes with a 6.55-inch FHD+ 144Hz curved OLED display, 50MP (wide) + 13MP (ultra-wide dual camera system, 32MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, and IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

3. Redmi Note 13 Series

Redmi Note 13 Pro Series

The Redmi Note 13 series is set to launch in China on September 21 (Thursday). This was expected as the brand had already teased it earlier this month.

As per teasers and leaks, the lineup will consist of at least three models, namely Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+. All of them will arrive with a revamped design and upgraded features.

The Pro variants will sport 1.5K OLED displays with 1800nits peak brightness level and 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The screen on the Pro Plus will be curved and it will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra chip.

4. Vivo T2 Pro 5G

The Vivo T2 Pro 5G is planned to launch in India on September 22 (Friday). It will be positioned higher than Vivo T2x 5G and Vivo T2 5G which debuted earlier this year.

Going by the teasers and leaks, the phone is a rebranded iQOO Z7 Pro. For the unaware, the iQOO device itself is a rebadged Vivo S17e.

The handset will come with a thin and light design, a 120Hz curved AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, Aura Light, 66W charging support, and more.

5. Tecno Phantom V Flip

Tecno Phantom V Flip

The Tecno Phantom V Flip is scheduled to launch on September 22 (Friday). It will be unveiled at an event in Singapore.

This product is Tecno’s first-ever clamshell foldable smartphone. It will have a distinct design, thanks to a circular cover screen inside a ring camera module.

According to leaks, the device will arrive with a 6.75-inch 144Hz main display, a 1.39-inch secondary screen, a MediaTek Dimensity 8050 SoC, a 64MP main camera, and 45W charging support.

Rivian is Expanding its EV Charging Network in Europe

Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer known for its outdoor-centric ethos, is putting a spin on eco-tourism by amplifying its EV charging infrastructure. With the recent rollout of charging stations along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the brand is making strides to ensure adventurers don’t have to compromise on the range for a view.

Rivian is looking to eradicate ‘range anxiety’ for long-distance travel

Blue Ridge Parkway, with its stunning vistas and untouched wilderness, has long been a travel bucket-list item for those in the United States. However, the lack of adequate charging facilities has been a hurdle for electric vehicle enthusiasts—until now. Rivian’s expansion aims to quash any lingering ‘range anxiety,’ especially in areas that aren’t typically flush with charging options.

Rivian

The company has launched 30 DC fast charging stalls distributed across five stations, extending from Front Royal and Waynesboro in Virginia to Blowing Rock in North Carolina. For those who prefer to bask in the area’s natural beauty a little longer, Rivian has thoughtfully added AC chargers to its Roanoke and Meadows of Dan stations.

The inclusion of pull-through trailer access at these DC fast chargers signals Rivian’s intent to cater to the camping and trailer-towing crowd. A 20-minute pitstop at one of these stations will recharge a Rivian for up to 140 miles, offering ample opportunity to explore one of the most visited national parks in the U.S., the Great Smoky Mountains, situated at the end of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

This move comes on the heels of Rivian introducing its R1T Dual-Motor Max Pack, which boasts an impressive EPA-rated range of 410 miles. Although it still falls short of covering the parkway’s 469 miles in one go, Rivian’s thoughtful positioning of its new charging hubs ensures that your adventure won’t be cut short.

Samsung rolls out One UI 6 Beta 3 for Galaxy S23 series in India

Microsoft Working on New Surface Laptop, Expected to Be Surface Laptop Go 3

Known to many of us for its Windows operating system, Microsoft continues to expand its Surface product family. The company, which recently came up with a dual-screen phone called Surface Duo 2, is working on a device that is expected to be named Surface Laptop Go 3 or Surface Go 4. Here are the details…

FCC Certification Hints at Upcoming Surface Laptop Go 3 or Surface Go 4

FCChas certified a new Microsoft device, which is rumored to be the next-generation Surface Laptop Go 3 or Surface Go 4. The FCC listing doesn’t reveal much about the device, but it does confirm that it’s real and that it’s coming soon. The laptop is listed under the model number C3K-2067, and it’s described as a “portable computing device” with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The listing also includes a diagram of the device, which shows that it has a similar design to the Surface Laptop Go 2. The Surface Laptop Go 2 was released in 2021. It’s powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and it has a 12.4-inch touchscreen display. The Surface Laptop Go 3 or Surface Go 4 is expected to have similar specifications, but it could also get some upgrades, such as a faster processor or more RAM.

The next-generation Surface Laptop Go could get a few upgrades, such as a larger storage option, a longer battery life, or a refreshed design. However, it’s also possible that the device will have the same specifications as the Surface Laptop Go 2. If Microsoft can deliver on these expectations, the next-generation Surface Laptop Go could be a great option for most people and I might definitely consider ditching the Mac.

US Army to Equip Soldiers with Mixed Reality Goggles for War

The popularity of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies is growing every day. This is leading to new perspectives and applications. However, one of the most interesting applications is the use of this technology by the United States Army. The Army has been using this technology to train soldiers for a long time. Most recently, it was announced that the Army is awarding Microsoft with another order of advanced mixed reality goggles designed for combat situations. Here are the details…

The Future of Warfare: Microsoft Mixed Reality Goggles and the US Army

Actually, Microsoft’s agreement with the US Army is not surprising. Especially if we include artificial intelligence. The company has signed many agreements worth billions of dollars with the Ministry of Defense so far. Now, the US Army has awarded Microsoft with another order of advanced mixed reality goggles designed for combat situations.

The new order is worth $125 million and will be used to further develop the Integrated Visual Augmentation System, which is a mixed reality headset that provides soldiers with enhanced situational awareness. The IVAS headset is based on Microsoft’s HoloLens technology and features a number of features that are designed to improve the safety and effectiveness of soldiers in combat.

These features include: A heads-up display that can project information such as maps, enemy positions, and friendly forces directly onto the soldier’s field of view. A thermal imaging camera that can be used to see in low-light conditions. A laser rangefinder that can be used to measure distances to targets. A communication system that allows soldiers to stay in touch with each other and with command headquarters.

The IVAS headset has been in development for several years and has undergone extensive testing by the US Army. In August 2023, the Army awarded Microsoft with a $40 million contract to improve the design of the headset and address some of the issues that had been raised by soldiers during testing. The new order from the Army will allow Microsoft to continue development of the IVAS headset and bring it closer to deployment. The Army plans to begin fielding the IVAS headset to soldiers in 2025.
