Xiaomi is undoubtedly one of the world’s largest technology companies. The Chinese manufacturer owes its rapid rise to not only its successful products but also its aggressive pricing strategies. However, although the high value-for-money ratio and low-profit margins of its products have helped Xiaomi grow, they haven’t been especially favorable in financial reports.
As a result, the company recently changed its strategy to focus on increasing profit margins and shifting towards more expensive devices. Apparently, this change has been effective, as Xiaomi’s profits doubled in the second quarter due to strong sales of premium smartphones. However, the danger still remains. Here are the details…
Xiaomi’s High-End Smartphone Sales Soar in Second Quarter, Driven by Xiaomi 13 Series
Xiaomi has released its financial reports for the second quarter of the year. Despite facing numerous challenges, the company has managed to create success. The tech giant’s total revenue for the quarter soared to RMB 67.4 billion, marking a 13.2% growth compared to the previous quarter. This is noteworthy in the highly competitive tech industry. In terms of profitability, Xiaomi reported a net profit of RMB 5.1 billion, which is an impressive 147% increase compared to the same period last year. This is the company’s highest quarterly profit since the fourth quarter of 2021.
The company managed to hit a 21% gross profit margin across its various business segments, including smartphones, IoT products, and internet services. This is the highest it’s been, indicating a more profitable portfolio. Xiaomi’s smartphone business did exceptionally well this quarter, showing a 13.3% gross profit margin, the highest to date. Revenue from smartphones increased by 4.6% compared to the last quarter, reaching RMB 36.6 billion.
Moving beyond smartphones, the IoT and lifestyle products segment also saw a revenue hike of 12.3% YoY, totaling RMB 22.3 billion. The gross profit margin here was 17.6%, also a new high. Internet services are a vital part of Xiaomi’s ecosystem, and they didn’t disappoint. The sector saw a revenue increase of 6.8% YoY to RMB 7.4 billion. The gross profit margin for this segment was a jaw-dropping 74.1%.
Impressively, Xiaomi was able to reduce its total inventory to RMB 38.5 billion, a 33.5% decrease YoY. The company’s overall expenses also dipped, falling by 2.3% YoY to RMB 10.2 billion. Both metrics show greater efficiency and cost management. Last but certainly not least, the cash reserves reached an unprecedented RMB 113.2 billion, giving Xiaomi ample resources for future R&D and strategic acquisitions.

Microsoft is looking to revolutionize the gaming industry by integrating AI (Artificial Intelligence) into gaming and its related technologies. The company plans to develop AI that will enhance the experience on Xbox, which includes new games and game engines. So here are all the details.
Microsoft to take gaming to the next level with AI
The American tech giant recently posted a job listing that wanted a new hire for its “Xbox Gaming AI team”. The company is looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer who has experience in both gaming and AI. In other words, it is basically looking for someone who can help it explore the potential of AI in the gaming industry.
According to the job description, Microsoft is searching to hire a game developer who can also help create the future of “Game AI”. The person would even be required to integrate deep learning and foundation models into next-gen titles to bring an enhanced in-game experience to gamers. This person would also work with the Xbox Emerging Technologies team, which is a unit dedicated to looking into emerging technologies that can help disrupt the gaming landscape.
Microsoft is even aiming on implementing AI/ML techniques like Large Language Model prompt engineering and model runtime implementation into gaming. In other words, gaming might soon see a massive upgrade in terms of interactions with in-game NPCs. This isn’t just limited to character interaction, the game’s engine might also be more reactive to player progression and much more. The sky is the limit with this, but as of right now, we are still on the drawing board.
After numerous leaks and rumors, Huawei silently launched the Huawei Mate 60 Pro Smartphone in China. As Huawei’s most important premium series, it has never been so low profile. But the news of the silent sales blew up on the Chinese internet. This is the first time Huawei has brought a 5G phone with its own Kirin chip since it was hit with the ban.
So is this Mate 60 Pro in my hand announcing that Huawei’s high-end phones have broken through all the technological walls and are now completely self-researching and self-producing? Unfortunately, there’s very little information that can be confirmed and we still can’t draw any conclusions yet. But we can still take a look at this Huawei mate 60 pro that’s back on the road and maybe we’ll get some answers.
Today we’ll do a brief unboxing and performance showcase. Later we’ll update the detailed review video, so stay tuned and subscribe to our channel. It really means a lot to us.
Unboxing & Design
The box is also low-profile without fancy details. All we learn from it is that it’s the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, featuring Kunlun glass with good shock resistance, powered by Xmage camera system and Harmony OS. The software is a bit different from those global variants of Huawei phones running the EMUI. Later we will check it out.
The smartphone bundles high-end features and a circular camera module on the rear side. The 12GB+ 512GB storage variant is retailing via Huawei store in China for 6999 Yuan which roughly translates to $960. Huawei Mate 60 Pro is available in four different color options Green, Silver, Purple, and Black. The model in my hand is the silver variant.
The phone has a unique construction, with a metal unibody that extends from the frame to the lower half of the back, while the upper half is a piece of shock-resistant Kunlun glass with a matt finish. The overall stitching transition is wonderfully done.
The camera island returns to the classic Mate 40 series design. Personally, I think it’s the best appearance design language from Huawei. I’m happy to see this big ring coming back in Huawei’s returning work. At the center, it’s the symbol of Huawei’s proud Xmage camera system instead of Leica logo.
Cameras – XMAGE System
It houses a triple-rear camera module featuring a 50MP primary sensor with OIS capability, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 48MP telephoto OIS lens that supports 3.5x Optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. The rear camera supports variable aperture. The XMAGE camera system supports Super Night Mode, Super Macro, Macro PiP, Pro Mode, Slow Motion, Multi Camera, and AI photography mode. Further, it includes a 4D predictive focus tracking for fast capture.
Now turn it over and there’s a 13MP camera with HDR support for selfies and video calling. Actually, it got triple punched holes with a 3D depth lens featuring 3D face recogniiton. But visually it supports custom effects like what we’ve seen on iPhone’s Dynamic Island. The display is a bit wider than most flagships, but its well-built gentle edges make it still comfortable to hold.
While it only has one speaker on the frame, it can utilize the earpiece opening above the front camera to construct stereo sound. There’s no headphone jack, but infrared remote and NFC are well-supported.
Display
The front face is a 6.82-inch OLED LTPO display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 1440Hz PWM dimming. The resolution is great and visually it’s pretty sunning with a wider size. It is well-protected with Huawei’s shock-resistant Kunlun glass.
As we mentioned before, the phone now supports 5G network. I’m not sure if it’s available in other regions since we couldn’t find any official info about it. But here is our test in China. The data flow looks pretty good, so you can still trust Huawei phones to excel at signaling.
Software
Now look at the software, the Harmony OS 4, which is a new operating system developed by Huawei as an alternative to Android. It’s really not significantly different from EMUI over daily experiences, such as the same UI and no Google services. But the Harmony OS is said to be faster and more responsive due to its distributed architecture, which might make it a step up from EMUI over performance, battery life, and security.
One more feature that we could only have with the China variant is satellite calling. But by far it’s only available to China Telecom users with a dedicated satellite plan or SatLink users. In the following review video, we will try to show you more about how it works.
Kirin 9000s Chipset
As for the most talked about performance aspect, to be honest, the new Kirin 9000s isn’t able to match this year’s flagship chipsets such as the Snapdragon 8Gen2, which is probably closer to the Snapdragon 870’s level. So it’s not much different from the Kirin 9000 released 3 years ago. But this is already a great success for Huawei. And it seems likely that they’ve managed to find an alternative foundry to TSMC in mainland China at this point, while finally bringing mobile chip production to the mainstream level. I’m sure this will cause a lot of shock and concern in the industry.
Battery & Charge & Other features
The Huawei Mate 60 Pro comes with a 5000 mAh battery that supports up to 88W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 20W reverse wireless charging. It features an IP68 rating, which means it will be waterproof up to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, and is protected from dust. – all these protecting features are without the need for extra cases or covers.
Full Review Coming soon
The Mate 60 Pro will likely be a milestone for the brand. The challenges it has faced in the global market may not go away, but this step has surprised a lot of people. We don’t know the reason why Huawei silently put the Mate 60 Pro on the shelves yesterday, maybe they are planning something big. Anyway, we still hope that the market can stay competitive and no player sleeps in peace.
We can’t wait to review this phone in depth. So please stay tuned and keep subscribing to our channel.

Ahead of the highly anticipated launch of Starfield, Bethesda has released the new Starfield companion watch app. The new Starfield Watch app from Bethesda Softworks LLC is rolling out now. So here are all the details.
Starfield Watch released for Android and iOS
For those unaware, Starfield is an upcoming sci-fi game from the gaming company that has already garnered hype in the gaming community. It will feature RPG mechanics and a space-faring setting. The game is set to release globally on September 6, but the Starfield Watch companion app is rolling out already. The app is currently available on both Android and iOS via Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively.
However, this app isn’t free for everyone since it is only included for buyers that purchase the Starfield Constellation Edition, which is available for a $300 US price tag. Players who own the Chronomark watch can now get access to this companion app via these official app stores. While Starfield is set to release on September 6, players who pre-ordered the Constellation Edition and Premium Edition can play the game via early access.
Keep in mind that the new Starfield Watch companion app isn’t entirely integral to experience the game. Rather, it is just another addition and feature for those who spent more money, offering them a more immersive experience of the upcoming space RPG title. Notably, Microsoft recently released new skins for its Xbox Series X console that includes a special Starfield wrap as well.
This is an interesting device as it is powered by a new Kirin chip. Also, it is the first-ever consumer smartphone to have support for satellite calling.
But unfortunately, we have bad news for long-time Huawei fans residing outside mainland China.
In a statement to Android Authority, Huawei confirmed yesterday that it has no plans to launch the Huawei Mate 60 Pro in global markets. Although the company has not made any statement regarding the vanilla model yet, it could have the same fate.
Despite the lack of GMS (Google Mobile Services) and 5G, Huawei released the previous Mate phones in a select few global markets. But sadly, that won’t be the case for the latest models.
The chip inside these handsets could be the reason behind their unavailability in regions outside mainland China. They house a new Kirin 9000s SoC. Unfortunately, we don’t have detailed info on it, except that it allows 5G connectivity.
The new Kirin chip in years enables 5G connection on Huawei smartphones after a long time. It is a known fact that Huawei is banned from utilizing 5G tech that has US involvement. However, this new Kirin mobile platform is rumored to be fully indigenous.
We are awaiting more information on this new chip. So far, based on benchmarks, we know that it is only as powerful as the almost 3-year-old Snapdragon 888.
Tesla Cybertruck, an electric pickup known for its futuristic design, has come under scrutiny due to photos showcasing irregular door panel gaps. Shared by a netizen, these images were taken near Tesla’s Austin factory and have ignited discussions on the company’s focus on quality control.
Cybertruck’s Panel Gaps: What the Photos Show
The notable gaps in the door panels led to debates online. Critics argued that such visible flaws point to Tesla’s ongoing assembly challenges in the U.S., suggesting a potential compromise in quality. Defenders, however, opined that the pictured vehicle was likely a test model and not reflective of the final production quality. They anticipate such concerns to be ironed out in the mass-produced units.
Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, previously acknowledged the unique manufacturing demands of the Cybertruck. In August 2022, he described the vehicle as requiring an entirely new production process, factory, and supply chain. Despite Tesla’s commitment to tackling these challenges, Musk did not promise a seamless transition.
The production timeline for the Cybertruck has experienced setbacks. Originally intended to hit the production lines by end-2021, it’s now been pushed to 2023. Tesla has amassed over a million Cybertruck pre-orders. Still, with these emerging concerns, it’s pivotal for the company to prioritize quality and efficiency to fulfill consumer expectations.
Samsung is gearing up for a notable launch cycle that will include brand-new smartphones, tablets, and much more. This includes highly anticipated models like Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE. So let’s have a look at when these devices might be announced.
Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, Tab S9 FE launch timeline
According to known tipster Max Jambor, the South Korean tech giant is planning to launch the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and other new IoT products (Internet of Things) later this year. Max claims that these numerous products will be announced in the fourth and final quarter of 2023 and not at the IFA (Internationale Funk Ausstellung) that is set to kick off in Berlin.
In the tweet, the tipster specifically mentions the Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE, while there are also other FE devices planned to launch alongside new IoT products. All of these are expected to be announced sometime in Q4 2023. This means that there will likely be no notable announcements before October 2023, so rumors of a September release might not be true.
For those unaware, Samsung is expected to be working on a new Galaxy Buds FE truly wireless earbuds and the Galaxy SmartTag 2 smart tracker. But keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.
Having made its entry into the US market in July with the Fairphone 4, the brand is now gearing up for the launch of its upcoming smartphone, the Fairphone 5. Preliminary render leaks and details from a Geekbench listing have already given us a glimpse of the phone’s design and expected performance. Now, additional leaks have emerged, courtesy of a report by Roland Quandt on WinFuture.
Fairphone 5 specs
As per the WinFuture report, the Fairphone 5 will feature a 6.46-inch OLED display that offers a resolution of 2,770 x 1,224 pixels and a fast 90 Hz refresh rate. Renders reveal that the display will have a centered punch hole and sizable bezels.

The Fairphone 5 was initially expected to have a Snapdragon 782G chip, but a recent report reveals a different chip called the Qualcomm QCM6490. This chip is usually used in industrial stuff. The reason they went for it is because Qualcomm provides long software support. Rest assured, the phone will still be 5G compatible. Fairphone wants to give users up to 8 years of software updates, and this chip helps them do that.
The chip will reach a maximum clock speed of 2.7GHz. You can check the Geekbench performance by clicking this link. In short, it will be on par with the Snapdragon 782G. We can expect it to have 8GB RAM, and it will likely come in a single 256GB storage model. A microSD card slot is expected to be available onboard.
Moving on, the report reveals that there will be two 50MP sensors on the back, which will likely be a primary and an ultrawide lens. In addition to that, the selfie camera will also have a 50MP sensor. The report mentions that there is a slightly bigger 4200mAh onboard along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Complete waterproofing won’t be available, however, the IP55 resistance will at least protect the device from accidental splashes.
Price & availability
The Fairphone 5 is said to come with a price tag of €699 and is scheduled for launch on August 31, with shipping expected to commence at the end of September. We can expect the official announcement soon.
Samsung continues to expand its product lineup. While we often talk about smartphone models like the Galaxy S23, the company has investments in many different markets. One of these is, of course, televisions. According to Omdia, Samsung‘s market share in the global TV market in 2022 was 29.7 percent, and it has been the leading TV manufacturer in the world for 17 consecutive years. Now, the Korean tech giant has added an 85-inch Mini LED TV to its premium series called “The Terrace.” The price is “only” $19,999. Here are the details…
Samsung Launches Sunlight-Ready, $19,999 Terrace TV for Ultimate Outdoor Entertainment
Do you have extra money, a terrace, and a need for a TV to place there? Great, Samsung has updated its premium product line called “The Terrace,” offering just what you need. This product is specifically designed for outdoor use, particularly in environments where screens with average or even high brightness levels won’t perform well due to excessive light.
The Samsung Terrace, which features an 85-inch screen size, uses Mini LED technology. If you’re not familiar with it, Mini LED is a type of backlighting technology for LCD displays. It employs LEDs that are much smaller than those used in traditional LED backlit displays, allowing for more precise control of the backlight, as well as brighter and clearer images.
Of course, the features of the Samsung Terrace are not limited to just these. A TV that you will use outdoors should also be adaptable to different usage scenarios. For this reason, the company has emphasized that it offers a high level of protection against dust and water by obtaining an IP56 certification. Therefore, you don’t have to worry every time it rains or take extra measures to protect your TV.

Apple recently announced its upcoming launch event, “Wonderlust,” scheduled for September 12. The company will announce its highly anticipated iPhone 15 lineup at this event. As the event date draws near, numerous reports have surfaced online. A recent one says that the Apple AirPods will now have a USB-C charging case instead of the lightning connector.
A recent report by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg revealed that Apple’s upcoming event will launch the new iPhone 15 and smartwatches. The same report also suggests that Apple will announce AirPods with a USB-C charging case during this event. We’re still waiting for confirmation whether the company will introduce a new generation of AirPods or update the current ones with USB-C support.
According to earlier reports, high-end Apple earpods like AirPods Pro 2 are getting the USB-C. This report came from a known analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo. It’s highly likely that the upcoming iPhone 15 series might switch to using USB-C ports. You can check out the leaked images of the iPhone 15 with a USB-C port on this report.
In related news, Apple is actively looking to increase its domestic component base, so India is likely a suitable manufacturing hub. Honor already introduced its maiden foldable phone aka. Honor Magic V2 in China in July 2023. The smartphone is the thinnest foldable measuring 9.9mm in thickness along with some other additional features. The company is all set to launch another foldable launch on September 13 at 2:30 p.m. in China. A new teaser is published on the company’s official Weibo handle.
The details about the new foldable smartphone are yet unknown, but we believe it could be the Honor Magic Vs 2 or Magic V Slim. Considering the recent leaks and public certification (MIIT and 3C) appearance for the model VCA-AN00, it will be the Magic Vs 2. Even, the device appeared on HDR Plus certification just a few minutes ago.
It is quite difficult to guess the device launch, as there’s nothing official yet from the Honor. However, the 3C certification of the device codenamed Victoria unveiled the use of 35W fast charging instead of the 66W as seen on Honor Magic V2.
For more details, either we have to wait for the official launch or look into the available details present.
Additionally, Honor Magic V2 launched a couple of months ago bundles Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with a 5000 mAh battery. The smartphone houses a 6.43-inch 2376 x 1060 BOE OLED on the outer side that offers 120Hz LTPO refresh rate and 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. On the inner side, there’s a 7.92-inch 2344 x 2156 BOE OLED panel with same refresh rate.
The foldable bundles a 16MP camera on the outer side and another 16MP on the inner side of the fold. The primary camera module sits on the rear side with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 20MP telephoto camera with 40x zoom.
We hope another high-end foldable device from Honor at the September 13 launch event in China.
The Sony Xperia 5 V recently surfaced on GeekBench. The company’s upcoming flagship phone was spotted on the popular benchmarking platform last week. And now, a different variant surfaced on the website but with a higher RAM capacity. So let’s have a look.
Sony Xperia 5 V GeekBench
In our previous report, the NA model of the Xperia 5 V surfaced on GeekBench carrying the XQ-DE54 model number. It was equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC that is paired with 8GB of RAM. This model also ran on Android 13 OS. Last week’s sighting of Xperia 5 V had it receive a score of 1,443 points on single-core tests and 4,546 points on multi-core tests.
But the latest GeekBench scores are slightly higher. The Sony Xperia 5 V managed to score 1,966 points in the single-core and 5,350 points in the multi-core test. However, the most notable aspect of the listing was that the device housed 16GB of RAM. This basically confirms that the phone will launch in 8GB and 16GB RAM variants.
The Xperia 5 V could be a less premium version of the Sony Xperia 1 V since the Xperia 1 V originally launched with 12GB of RAM for the base model. This is 4GB higher than the upcoming Xperia 5 V. Although, other rumors have also hinted that the Japanese tech giant could offer the device with a higher 16GB RAM in certain markets. But these will likely be locked to certain region-specific models and won’t get a global release.
