ASRock mini PCs with AMD Zen 4 and Intel Raptor Lake support spotted on ECC database

The AMD Zen 4 APUs along with the 600-series motherboards and 13th Gen Intel Raptor Lake processors with 700-series motherboards have already launched in the markets. These new chips are expected to make their way to mini PCs soon, as brands are expected to unveil new models equipped with these processors at CES next month.

ASRock
ASRock DeskMeet and DeskMini

It appears that Asus might be one of the first OEMs to introduce a mini PC with the latest-gen hardware, as Twitter user Harukaze5719 has spotted new listings in the EEC database that indicates the brand is planning to launch DeskMini and DeskMeet variants with support for AMD’s Zen 4 chips, as well as Intel’s Gen 13 processors.

The AMD models have the suffix X600, while the Intel models have the suffix B760. B/BB most likely refers to barebones systems with no RAM or storage, whereas BOX refers to fully-featured systems.

It is evident from the B760 mention that the models will incorporate mini-ITX motherboards with the B760 chipset, which will debut in early January. There are rumors that this will have 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes and 16 PCIe 5.0 lanes. However, there is some ambiguity regarding AMD’s X600 motherboards. The name implies the presence of an X670 chipset, which offers 4 PCIe 5.0 lanes for NVMe storage solutions but no PCI 5.0 lanes for a discrete GPU.

DeskMini and DeskMeet models from ASRock have previously only been available with 65 W TDP processors. The most recent desktop-grade processors from AMD and Intel would be too powerful if ASRock is to maintain this limit on the next models since AMD has a 105 W minimum TDP and Intel has a 125 W minimum. In this situation, only mobile processors would be compatible with mini PC models. More information on the matter is expected to be revealed in the coming days, so stay tuned.

The Find N2 smartphone will come with a traditional book-style foldable design similar to its predecessor, but for the first time, the company will have a flip folding smartphone in the form of OPPO Find N2 Flip.

Pete Lau, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer at OPPO, said that the Find N2 uses innovative materials and reconstructs key structural components to bring a major breakthrough in the weight of the foldable screens and to upgrade the display, video and performance of the device.

It is touted to have the industry’s largest vertically folding screen on the external side of the device, to offer a rich interactive experience.

Based on the leaks, the Find N2 will feature a 7.1-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate. There will be a triple-camera setup that will include a 50MP primary sensor, a 48MP lens, and a 32MP Sony IMX709 telephoto lens. As for the software, the device will run Android 13-based ColorOS.

This helped the phone become the second best-selling foldable smartphone in the first half of this year and obtained the highest product satisfaction in the company’s history.

Apple has had a running battle with vendors and regulators because of its iron-grip control of some activities in the App Store. Regarding pricing, it has continued to get complaints from developers especially as demand shifted to subscription revenue. Developers continue to demand greater flexibility within Apple’s pricing setup. Some critics have also pointed out that such a lack of flexibility could hinder some businesses’ development. The new rules are meant to address developer concerns relating to making special offers and discounts on purchases and subscriptions. It offers developers a wider range of options overall across Apple’s 175 markets. 100 new higher price points are available upon request for prices between $1,000 and $10,000.

Apple also says that the new range of pricing options can be useful for managing subscriptions and other in-app purchases. The company hopes the new system will make pricing to be more consistent across the App Store ecosystem. The new Apple changes kicked in on December 6 for auto-renewable subscriptions. The changes will take effect in Spring 2023 for paid apps and in-app purchases.

Rad Power Unveils the Rad Trike Three-wheeler EV With a Max 416 Pounds Payload Capacity

Rad Power has released a new three-wheeled EV, the Rad Trike with a storage capacity of 416 pounds. The new e-bike is a great solution for users who yearn for more space in their e-bike for last-mile deliveries and other daily urban logistics operations. The company says the Trike is its newest and most requested electric bike. The bike also features a reverse function for versatility in its movement.

Rad Trike

Some folks require the balance and extra storage space provided by a three-wheeler EV. For such persons, a standard e-bike will not suit their peculiar needs, and the Rad Trike targets this clientele. The Rad Trike is designed as a car replacement vehicle and its design reflects such philosophy. The significant payload capacity of the e-bike means that it can take much of what a car can carry on its boot. The innovative reverse function of the Trike is achieved via a button on the left-hand grip.

The Rad Trike has the Rad Power throttle as well as a five-level pedal assist system. The Pedal Assist System (PAS) is a common feature in Rad Power e-bicycles. Even though it is a three-wheeler, the Trike can easily go through doors if you want to park it indoors. Additionally, the bike also can be partially folded to enhance its compact outlook and easy storage. The bike has a range of up to 35 miles on a full charge. This may be a conservative estimate that could significantly rise when pedaling is also used.

The Rad Trike is now available for pre-order for $2,499 in the United States. Deliveries of the much-patronized e-bike will subsequently kick in. It is unclear whether the model will be available in other markets.

Surface Hub 2 Could Get Better Specs Next Year With New Cartridge

Microsoft is reportedly planning to upgrade the computing power of its Surface Hub 2 meeting room display in 2023. The company is developing a new compute cartridge, codenamed Upward, which will serve as the core of the Surface Hub 2. According to Windows Central, the new cartridge will be easy to install, allowing users to easily upgrade their existing Surface Hub 2 without having to replace the entire display. This will bring more performance to the Surface Hub 2, improving its capabilities for meetings and collaboration.

Microsoft to ship upgraded Surface Hub 2 compute cartridge next year

The new compute cartridge is said to include 11th-generation Intel Core processors and Intel Iris Xe graphics. This is a significant upgrade from the current model, which uses 8th-generation processors, which are quite outdated. The new processors will also provide better graphics performance, thanks to Intel’s recent investments in this area. However, some people may have preferred the inclusion of even newer processors, such as the 12th-generation models that are already widely available, and the 13th-generation models that have recently become available.

The report also mentions that the compute cartridge could be marketed as the Surface Hub 2X, which was the original name that Microsoft announced for another version of the Surface Hub 2, in addition to the Surface Hub 2S that was released. This model was supposed to come with a different version of Windows that included additional features such as tiling support. However, it now seems that the only upgrade will be to the compute capabilities, and it is unclear whether it will still be marketed under the Surface Hub 2X brand.

This is the first time that Microsoft is releasing a performance upgrade for the Surface Hub 2, but the device was designed to be easily upgradeable. The compute cartridge is attached to the Surface Hub 2 using a single screw, making it simple to remove the old cartridge and insert a new one.

It is logical for the Surface Hub 2 to be designed in this way, because it already has a very high-resolution and expensive display. The smaller model has a 50-inch 4K display, and there is also an 85-inch panel with a similar resolution and aspect ratio. This type of panel is very expensive, so it makes more sense for customers to only upgrade the compute cartridge and save money on the display. Similarly, Microsoft recently introduced a new Smart Camera for the Surface Hub 2, adding new AI features for meetings to the display.

There is currently no information on how much the Upward upgrade will cost customers. The Surface Hub 2S unit costs $8,999 for the 50-inch model and $21,999 for the 85-inch version, so the compute unit is expected to be less expensive, especially for the larger model. This could be a good option for those looking to save money on the Surface Hub 2S device.
