Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Received an Update Fixing More Than 80 Vulnerabilities

Android security patches are updates to the Android operating system that address security vulnerabilities. These patches are released regularly by Google and other Android manufacturer to ensure that devices remain secure. The patches fix a variety of vulnerabilities, ranging from bugs in the operating system itself to issues with specific apps. In addition to fixing security vulnerabilities, Android security patches can also include performance improvements and bug fixes. Lastly, Samsung pusher December security patch for Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Gets December 2022 security Update That Xixes More Than 80 Vulnerabilities

Samsung is currently rolling out the December security patch for the unlocked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable in the US. This update follows Google’s release of the same patch for its Pixel phone lineup. The patch, which weighs around 400MB, will also be available for carrier-specific versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in the coming days.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

Samsung’s latest security patch for the foldable superphone includes more than 60 high-risk vulnerabilities and five critical vulnerabilities and exposures. The patch also includes over a dozen Galaxy-specific fixes. It is important to update your device with this patch as soon as possible to protect against these security vulnerabilities.

In addition to addressing security vulnerabilities, Samsung’s latest patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 also includes bug fixes and improvements. The patch does not include any new features, as One UI 5 and Android 13 were recently released for a number of Samsung devices. It is typical for monthly patches to include bug fixes and improvements without introducing new features.

Samsung has been delivering major Android updates quickly in recent years. The company took just a couple of months to release the One UI 5/Android 13 update, compared to previous release times that could take twice as long or longer. The One UI 5 update has been well-received, with improved fluidity of the interface being a standout feature. It is expected that the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and older Samsung flagship devices will receive the latest security patch soon.

Google Pixel Fold Surfaces in High-quality Leaked Renders, Dimensions and Screen Size Tipped

Recently, Google Pixel Fold codenamed ‘Felix’ had appeared on the Geekench benchmarking platform. The renders of the device also surfaced last month. Now reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer aka Onleaks in collaboration with HowToISolve have brought high-quality 360-degree video and 5K renders of the foldable phone. The latest renders are in line with the past leaked render. However, we have also gotten additional information about the Pixel Fold this time.

Right off the bat, the Google Pixel Fold is a horizontal folding phone like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, OPPO Find N, Huawei Mate Xs 2 etc. The device looks compact similar to the Find N, but unlike its competitor, the front and back sides have a wide aspect ratio. Both the interior and exterior screens feature a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout for the camera. The latter also has thick bezels around the display. The back panel has a horizontal camera bridge housing two sensors in a pill-shaped cutout and an additional lens along with an LED flash outside it. The renders reveal a SIM card tray and a USB-C port at the bottom of external (first) and internal (secondary) screens respectively. There is also a stereo speaker grille at the top and bottom edges.

The report states that the Google Pixel Fold will feature a 7.69-inch inner display and a 5.79-inch outer screen. Dimension-wise, it will measure 158.7 x 139.7 x 5.7mm (8.3mm including the rear camera bump). The device is tipped to come in Silver and Black colours. This is everything the renders reveal about the Google Pixel Fold. Onleaks has an accurate track record with leaks and rumours, hence it’s likely that the device in renders could be a final product although it’s too early to say.

As for the core specifications, the Google Pixel Fold will reportedly be powered by a Tensor G2 chipset coupled with 12GB RAM. The internal display is rumoured to come with a resolution of 1,840 x 2,208 pixels, up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Android Users Can Now Keep Wi-Fi on When Airplane Mode is Enabled

The Google Pixel is known for its software and hardware issues, but it does have some benefits. For one, it gets the latest Android features before other phones. Lastly, a new feature allows Pixel owners to keep their Wi-Fi connection even when they turn on airplane mode.

Pixel owners can keep Wi-Fi going even after toggling airplane mode

A new feature coming to Google Pixel models with Android 13 allows users to keep their Wi-Fi connection even when they turn on airplane mode. Previously, turning on airplane mode would disconnect both your cellular and Wi-Fi connections. This update allows users to customize their settings and keep their Wi-Fi connection active while in airplane mode. To enable this feature on your Pixel device, simply follow these steps:

  • Turn on Airplane mode by going to your device’s Settings > Network & Internet > Airplane mode.
  • Turn on WiFi by going to Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi.
  • Once your device is connected to WiFi, turn off Airplane mode by going back to Settings > Network & Internet > Airplane mode.

If you want to use the new feature of keeping Wi-Fi on after switching to Airplane mode, you will need to have Android 13 installed on your Pixel device. To check which version of Android you are currently using, go to Settings > About Phone, and look for the “Android version” entry. If you are not using Android 13, you can upgrade by downloading the latest version from the Google Play Store or through a manual update from your device manufacturer.

This change is similar to the one made for Bluetooth in Android 11. Before Android 11, turning on airplane mode would disable all wireless connections, including Bluetooth. However, with the release of new software, it is become possible to keep Bluetooth on even after switching to airplane mode.

iPhone Users Will Pay More For Twitter Blue

Elon Musk’s plan to get money from Twitter users continues at full speed after the disruptions. The company will charge users $7 per month for Twitter Blue and in return, they will receive perks such as verification badges and fewer ads. However, it seems that iPhone users will have to pay $11 per month for the same privileges.

Twitter to charge $11 per month for Twitter Blue on iPhone, $7 on website

According to the latest announcements, Twitter plans to charge $11 per month for its “Twitter Blue” subscription on the iPhone to compensate for the 30 percent cut that Apple takes from in-app purchases. The subscription will be priced at $7 per month on the web. It’s possible that the higher price point of the iPhone may allow Twitter to provide Apple with its 30 percent cut of in-app purchase proceeds without significantly impacting the company’s income.

Twitter Blue

This pricing difference may also encourage customers to subscribe on the web, allowing Twitter to avoid in-app purchase fees. However, without more information, it’s difficult to say for sure. Also, this isn’t a first for iPhone users. It’s important to note that while other companies like Spotify have charged higher prices on the iPhone in the past, this can lead to confusion for consumers who don’t understand why the prices are different on a device-to-device basis.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Apple does not have an issue with companies charging more for subscriptions in apps than on the web. However, without more information, it’s difficult to say for sure what the effects of this pricing difference will be. Twitter recently changed its pricing for its subscription service, “Twitter Blue,” following a dispute with Apple.

The disagreement began when Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticized Apple’s App Store fees and claimed that Apple had “threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store.” However, Musk later withdrew his statement after meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook. Elon Musk and Tim Cook met at Apple Park, and according to Musk, they had a “good conversation” about a “misunderstanding” regarding Twitter’s potential removal from the App Store.

Twitter is planning to relaunch Twitter Blue on Friday. The subscriptions were paused after Musk included a verification checkmark with Twitter Blue, which allowed individuals with $8 to spend to impersonate celebrities and other high-profile individuals. Twitter Blue has not been available since November 11.

Twitter Blue is expected to be relaunched with a range of new features, including different badge colors for corporations, government accounts, and individuals. Additionally, there may be restrictions on changing usernames and limits on signups for newer accounts. This is intended to improve the overall user experience on the platform.

How to sign up for Twitter Blue

  • Navigate to the Profile menu on your app or twitter.com.
  • Select Twitter Blue.
  • Select the blue Subscribe for $/year button.
  • Follow the in-app purchase instructions for iOS.
  • Congrats! You’re now a Twitter Blue subscriber!

Xiaomi 13 can run Genshin Impact at a smooth 60fps without overheating: Lei Jun

With the Xiaomi 13 series launch being just around the corner, the company has been sharing numerous teasers leading up to its announcement. Now, the latest one comes from the company’s Founder and CEO himself. So let’s have a look.

According to the Chinese tech giant’s CEO, Lei Jun, the upcoming flagship smartphones can run Genshin Impact at max settings without any issues. For those unaware, Genshin Impact is a cross platform title that runs on both smartphones and PCs. So it is quite intensive for a handheld device. However, the senior official claims that the device can run the game at full 60 frames per second without overheating or facing any throttling issues.

Xiaomi 13 poster

Typically whenever a device starts running hot, the chipset automatically begins reducing performance to ensure there is no thermal related damage to its system. But, the Xiaomi 13 can run the game without going past 43° Celsius. This is true even if it is being charged when gaming. At the same time, even the brightness of the screen is not lowered during the gaming test that the brand had conducted.

In other words, the Xiaomi 13 series is shaping up to be a great smartphone for gaming as well, since Genshin Impact is a great benchmark of an intensive mobile game. The smooht performance from the device is also thanks to the fact that it is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. This is the latest flagship chipset from the chipmaking giant and offers various improvements over its predecessors.

Xiaomi had recently announced that it will be launching its latest generation of flagship smartphones on December 11. And earlier today (8th December 2022), the company released a new Xiaomi 13 series teaser, which showcases some interesting new features.

According to the official teaser, the Chinese tech giant’s new 13 lineup will feature a new nano skin technology. This is a new material that the brand is using for the rear panel of its upcoming premium grade devices. The nano skin technology basically makes the device easier to clean, as the panel is more resistant to dust and colors. The teaser image shows the Xiaomi 13 series model being covered in paint to showcase this aspect.

Xiaomi

In an official teaser video, we can see that the devices are covered with various different kinds of paint and colors, including spray paint as well. Although, simply wiping it clear with a paper towel managed to remove all the different kinds of colors. This is basically a one stop solution to removing any issues regarding dirt or discoloration of a rear panel of the smartphone. In other words, the design of the Xiaomi 13 series doesn’t just focus on aesthetics alone but also serves a useful function as well.

For those unaware, the Xiaomi 13 series is set to feature Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, with the Pro model sporting a 50 megapixel 1 inch sensor and a 75mm Leica telelphoto lens as well. WhatsApp Presents 3D Avatars as Digital Versions of Users

WhatsApp has begun rolling out 3D Avatar feature for its users worldwide. These avatars can be used as profile photos or custom stickers, and were first introduced on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger several months ago. The news follows months of beta testing, which was reported by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo in June. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the rollout on his Facebook page.

You can now make a 3D Avatar in WhatsApp and customize it

In a blog post, WhatsApp said that users can use personalized avatars as their profile photo or choose from one of 36 custom stickers that reflect different emotions and actions. 3D Avatar stickers on WhatsApp look similar to Snap’s Bitmoji or Apple’s Memoji stickers. “Your avatar is a digital version of you that can be created from billions of combinations of diverse hair styles, facial features, and outfits,” the company speaker said.

WhatsApp 3D Avatar feature
Source: WhatsApp

The feature will be accessible through the Settings menu, and users will also be able to customize their avatar with different lighting, shading, and hair styles. WhatsApp is following in the footsteps of Facebook and Instagram, both of which introduced avatar features in 2019 and 2020, respectively. If you want to use the new 3D Avatar feature:

  • Check for any pending WhatsApp updates and install them
  • Open WhatsApp on your phone
  • Head on over to Settings
  • Tap on Avatar
  • Select “Create your Avatar”
  • Let your creativity loose!

In addition to being a fun way to change up their profile picture, the use of avatars can also improve privacy. Since most people can easily recognize someone from a photo, using a 3D Avatar model of the person instead makes it much less likely that they will be identified. This can be especially useful for those who want to maintain a certain level of anonymity on the platform.

WhatsApp has confirmed that its new avatar feature will only be accessible within the app itself. This means that users cannot use avatars created on Instagram or Facebook on WhatsApp, nor can they use avatars created on WhatsApp on Instagram or Facebook. In order to use avatars on WhatsApp, users will need to create them within the app.

Realme 10 Pro + Review: This screen should be equipped on all phones

Realme 10 Pro +

Before we get started, I’d like to say that this is a phone you’ve never seen before in the $300 price range, and if you’re looking for a device that’s super light, has a long battery life and a great design, the Realme 10 Pro + is probably one of the best choices.

Realme 10 Pro+

I’ve always liked Realme’s packaging style, it looks very minimalistic with cool typography of the text. This time too we can see a lot of radiating lines on top of a yellow background color. Inside the package, we get a 67-watt Super VOOC charger, a USB-C cable, a soft protective case, and some user manuals.

Design

This is the brand new Realme 10 Pro +, the brand has put a curved display on their digital lineups for the first time, and we see a nice transition between the screen edge and the frame, which makes for a very comfortable holding experience. The Realme 10 Pro + weighs less than 180 grams, and it’s less than 8 mm thick, which is the best weight control I’ve seen this year.

Their secret to reducing weight is to use a plastic center frame and back cover, but the back cover still looks very nice because Realme made some composite textures. When you turn the phone you can see some radial stripes on the upper part of the back cover, and on the lower part of the back cover, we can see some bright shiny particles.

The only thing I can complain about the design is that the back cover is too easy to get fingerprints, so if you want to keep the back cover as clean as new all the time, you’d better use the included protective case.

6.7″ display

Realme 10 Pro + comes with a 6.7-inch edge-curved screen, which is one of its main selling points. We can see that it has a very narrow bezel, which can give you a more immersive visual experience, but most importantly, it supports high-frequency PWM DIMMING. I can say that this will be a must-have feature when buying your next phone, and when you put the Realme 10 Pro + together with a phone with a regular OLED screen, you can see through the camera that the Realme 10 Pro + has less flicker, which can significantly reduce eye strain.

Don’t worry about this technology making some flaws in the display, the screen still has great color, contrast, and brightness. With dual speakers, you can have a very outstanding experience when you watch movies.

Cameras

In terms of photography, Realme 10 Pro + comes with a 108 MP main camera and an 8 MP wide-angle camera, and with the help of HyperShot system, you can get detailed photos both day and night.

Performance

Realme 10 Pro + is powered by the Dimensity 1080 platform, which is not a high-performance flagship platform, but it has very good power efficiency, here are some Benchmarks for your reference.

It can achieve an average frame rate of 59 fps in PUBG, which means it’s good enough if you don’t play those heavy games, and I also tested it in Genshin Impact, where it can achieve an average frame rate of 35 if you adjust the graphic preset to medium, so obviously gaming performance isn’t Realme 10 Pro +’s strength.

Battery & Charge

The Realme 10 Pro + is so light that you can’t imagine it has a 5000mAh battery. Thanks to the Dimensity 1080’s good power efficiency, after two and a half hours of simulated use, it still has a 60% battery, and you can fully charge the phone in less than 50 minutes with the help of 67-watt fast charging.

So this is the Realme 10 Pro +, a budget phone with a flagship design and screen, it really surprised me a lot and I really like its size control and lightweight body, because today’s flagship phones are getting heavier day by day.

The screen is also one of the things that stood out for me about Realme 10 Pro +. No one can ignore those eye injuries when they know that regular OLED screens would make a lot of flickers, so I hope Realme can bring high-frequency PWM DIMMING to all their phones.

Atari to launch unreleased arcade game that was too difficult for its time

Atari is bringing back an unreleased game from the 80s. The game in question is Akka Arrh, which is an old 1982 arcade game that was canceled decades ago after the company found that the title was too difficult.

The popular game publisher is reviving the game, which is a wave shooter title, through a remake. The company is teaming up with developer Jess Minter, who is known for his psychedelic and synthwave style games. Atari labels the upcoming experience as “a fever dream in the best way possible.” The new remake will be released on PC, PS5, and PS4, Xbox Series S and Series X, Nintendo Switch, and even the Atari VCS.

Atari

The company is planning to launch the game sometime early next year. Talking about the Akka Arrh title, the game used a trackball to target enemies, as the player controls the Sentinel in the center of the screen to fight off waves of incoming enemies. The Sentinel is surrounded by an octagonal field that the player needs to clear out. Unfortunately for this game, it was found that the title was quite complex for its time.

This is understandable considering the simplicity of games back in the 80s. Thus, during the original test group screenings, the company decided to not launch the game. So the arcade version was pulled just ahead of its release, but there were three Akka Arrh cabinets that were known to exist.
