Huawei just opened pre-orders for its new Smart Screen S7 RGB, a smart TV that puts a big focus on better, more accurate colors. The big claim is upgraded backlight tech that should make everyday viewing look richer and more precise. The 55″ model starts at 3,999 yuan (~€513).
The key upgrade is RGB-MiniLED. Instead of the usual single-color backlight, this setup lets red, green, and blue light shine independently. Pair that with a super-focusing lens and you get less screen halo and cleaner, more accurate colors. Huawei says it covers 105% of the BT.2020 color gamut, about 66% more color richness than regular MiniLED TVs, and offers 94-bit color control precision.
A self-developed light-and-color control chip handles the brightness and color of each LED bead in real time. There’s also an AI color calibration algorithm that aims to keep things looking natural and with more depth. It uses a new high-end LCD panel that boosts brightness by 21%. The more efficient lighting and better packaging help with lower power use and heat management.
All three sizes are 4K (3840×2160) on an LCD IPS hard screen. They run a native 120 Hz refresh rate, and with double-refresh tech they can go up to 300 Hz if you plug in a PC, console, or other device that actually outputs a 300 Hz signal. The TVs run HarmonyOS 4.3 with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
Audio depends on the size. The 55″ and 65″ models get two 12.5 W full-range speakers in a simple 2.0 setup at the bottom. The 75″ adds a pair of 12.5 W high-frequency speakers on top of that. All of them support Huawei’s Histen sound processing.
There are three sizes: 55″ for 3,999 yuan (~€513), 65″ for 4,999 yuan (~€641), and 75″ for 6,999 yuan (~€898). Pre-orders are already live in China. The series is currently available exclusively in China.
Xiaomi just dropped a new flagship range hood that’s basically trying to make kitchen smoke a non-issue. The Mijia Smart Range Hood 3 Max is their most capable smoke-handling appliance yet, and it’s built to suck up fumes fast while using AI to react in real time.
Pre-orders are already open in China. The regular price sits at 5,999 yuan (~€770), but with the national subsidy it drops to 4,599 yuan (~€590). Xiaomi is calling it Mijia’s top smoke-purifying model, and the numbers back that up. Compared with the previous generation you get 34.6% more wind speed, an 89% jump in static pressure, and noise intensity cut by 84%.
There’s a four-vortex cyclone that grabs smoke right at the source, a high-speed backward-tilting airflow for those heavy stir-fry moments, and an air curtain that tries to keep the fumes from floating up into your face. Top fan speed hits 17.5 m/s, the highest Mijia has recorded, powered by a 360 W motor and eight “hurricane” suction levels. Max static pressure is 1,700 Pa.
A constant air-volume algorithm senses how much resistance the flue is giving and adjusts automatically, so it should still work properly whether you’re on the 1st floor or the 67th.
The smart side is where it gets interesting. A 3MP camera paired with a VLA visual model (trained on more than 100,000 real cooking clips) checks the smoke situation every 0.1 seconds and can change speed within 0.6 seconds. Xiaomi claims over 98% accuracy.
There’s also AI anti-overflow protection: it watches for a pot that’s about to boil over, sounds an alarm, and can even tell a compatible Mi Home cooktop to cut the heat. It keeps an eye on gas and smoke around the clock, has a micron-level PM2.5 sensor with a three-color display, and can push alerts to your phone through the Mi Home app. If it senses you need ventilation, it can turn itself on.
Other practical bits: negative-ion sterilization that Xiaomi says removes 97% of PM2.5 and hits 98% sterilization rates, an oleophobic coating on the impeller plus a smart dry-cleaning mode that doesn’t require taking anything apart, and durability testing equal to 1,680 hours that supports their claim of strong suction lasting ten years. Noise control uses 17 different design tricks and lands at 59 dB(A) on high power.
It launches alongside the new Mijia Timer Gas Stove 3 Max, so Xiaomi is clearly pushing the whole smart-kitchen ecosystem. If you do a lot of high-heat cooking and hate lingering smells or constant filter cleaning, this looks like a big step up in what a connected range hood can do.
Lenovo has put its new IdeaPad Vibe in a very interesting spot. It starts at $699.99, exactly the same price Apple now charges for the MacBook Neo after raising its price from the original $599. With both laptops targeting buyers who want a relatively affordable machine, the similar pricing makes the comparison hard to ignore.
Of course, a spec sheet can’t tell you everything. Keyboard feel, trackpad quality, display tuning, and overall software experience still need to be tested in person. But the specifications already show that Lenovo and Apple are taking very different approaches to the budget laptop market.
Apple’s pitch with the MacBook Neo was always about restraint. You get a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, an A18 Pro chip borrowed from the iPhone 16 Pro, 8GB of unified memory, and a fanless body that starts at 256GB of storage. No upgrades once you buy it, no configuring your way to more RAM later. What you order is what you live with.
Lenovo’s IdeaPad is more flexible. It comes in 14- and 15-inch sizes, with a choice of AMD Ryzen AI 400 or Snapdragon X chips, and RAM that tops out at 32GB on the AMD side versus the Neo’s fixed 8GB. Storage runs up to 1TB, and Lenovo’s sticking dual SSD slots in there so you can add capacity down the line instead of committing upfront. If you’re the type who keeps a laptop for five years and wants room to grow into it, that alone tips things in Lenovo’s favor.
Apple gave the MacBook Neo a more colorful look than its usual Mac lineup. It comes in Blush, Citrus, Indigo, and Silver, unlike the classic silver and gray finishes on pricer Macs.

There is one important catch, though. If you want an OLED display, your color choices are limited to Moody Blue and Lowkey Grey. The other finishes come with a 120Hz IPS panel instead.
3. Lenovo wins on ports
The difference in connectivity is much easier to see. The MacBook Neo has two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. And that’s fine if most of your accessories are wireless or USB-C, but if you have peripherals like monitors, SD cards, and other devices, you’ll definitely need a separate adapter.
The IdeaPad Vibe is much more practical here. It has two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, HDMI, and a microSD card reader, along with Wi-Fi 7 support. The USB ports are limited to 5Gbps, so this isn’t a laptop designed around extremely fast external storage. But for everyday use, having more built-in ports means fewer dongles to carry around.
4. The Neo is lighter, but Lenovo has a bigger battery
Apple still has an advantage when it comes to weight. The MacBook Neo weighs 1.23kg, while the 14-inch IdeaPad Vibe starts at 1.3kg. The Neo also has a 36.5Wh battery, which Apple claims delivers up to 16 hours of video playback.
Lenovo hasn’t published an official battery-life rating yet, but the AMD version can be equipped with a battery as large as 65Wh. That doesn’t automatically mean it will last longer than the Neo, since battery life also depends heavily on the processor and software, but the larger capacity gives Lenovo some room to work with.
The webcams also favor Lenovo. The Neo uses a 1080p FaceTime HD camera without a physical privacy shutter. The IdeaPad Vibe has a 5MP IR camera with a privacy cover and Windows Hello support.
5. Performance is still the big unknown
This is the one area where it’s difficult to conclude without actually testing the laptops. Apple’s A18 Pro is already a known quantity, and the company’s close control over its hardware and software means the Neo’s 8GB of memory doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story. For browsing, writing, streaming, and other everyday tasks, it should be more than capable.
Lenovo’s Ryzen AI 400 and Snapdragon X options are also promising, particularly for users who want more RAM and on-device AI capabilities. With up to 32GB of memory, the IdeaPad Vibe also has a clear advantage for heavier multitasking.
Still, processor performance isn’t something you can judge from core counts and memory numbers alone. Cooling, software optimization, battery settings, and the difference between Windows and macOS all matter.
Apple is also reportedly working on a MacBook Neo successor with an A19 Pro chip and more RAM for next year, so the current Neo is unlikely to remain the company’s entry-level MacBook for long.
6. Which one makes more sense?
The MacBook Neo is still the simpler option. If you’re already using an iPhone and other Apple devices, want a lightweight laptop, and mainly need something for browsing, writing, streaming, and everyday work, the Neo is a no-brainer.
On the other hand, the IdeaPad Vibe is more flexible with more ports, more RAM, more storage options, two SSD slots, larger screen choices, and far more customization. Those things become more useful if you plan to keep the laptop for several years.
The biggest catch is the display and color trade-off. If OLED matters to you, you’ll have to choose between just two IdeaPad Vibe colors. Lenovo’s AMD models are expected to arrive in October, while Snapdragon versions are scheduled for November.
Until both laptops have been properly tested, it’s too early to say which one is faster or better overall. But at the same $699.99 starting price, the IdeaPad Vibe clearly offers more flexibility on paper, while the MacBook Neo keeps things simple. Dwarflab has announced the Draco, a new smart telescope that integrates a 90mm aperture and automated tracking into a 5.5 kg (12.1 lbs) unit. The device is designed to simplify deep-sky astrophotography by automating the alignment and capture process, while still offering the hardware necessary for long exposures.
Dwarflab Draco Specifications
The Draco can capture single-frame exposures lasting up to 300 seconds. Standard alt-azimuth telescope mounts often suffer from field rotation during long exposures, which can make stars appear blurred as the sky moves.
To solve this, the Draco physically rotates its CMOS image sensor to keep up with the movement of the sky. Its built-in guide scope monitors tracking and corrects errors in real time. The metal base can also be tilted to switch the telescope into equatorial mode, so there is no need for a separate mounting system.
Optically, the telescope features a folded f/3.8 design with a 340mm focal length. The primary telephoto camera uses a 1/1.3-inch, 50-megapixel sensor. Apple has bumped up the prices on a bunch of current iPhone models right after launching its newest ones, which is the opposite of what smartphone brands usually do.
The increases hit the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, and iPhone 16. Each one is now $100 more expensive than it was before. In the US, that puts the base iPhone 17 at $899, the iPhone 17e at $699, the iPhone Air at $1,099, and the 128GB iPhone 16 at $799. The new prices are rolling out everywhere these models are still being sold.
This is unusual because Apple typically drops the price of last year’s phones once the fresh ones arrive. The current hikes are being tied to an ongoing shortage of memory chips, driven by heavy demand from AI data centers. Apple has already done similar price increases on other products like Macs, iPads, and HomePods because of the same rising component costs.

Some pretty serious privacy claims about smart TVs have been floating around, and LG has just pushed back hard.
It started with a long investigation from the YouTube channel Gamers Nexus, made with security researchers, that looked closely at LG smart TVs. The video claimed the sets keep logging and uploading data even when they’re offline or in standby, scan the local Wi-Fi network, pick up audio, and identify other devices on the home network.
The researchers said the built-in mic could still capture ambient sound while the TV looked like it was switched off, with that audio stored locally and possibly sent later. They backed it up with packet captures and firmware analysis, and also talked about Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) tech used to identify what’s on screen.
LG responded in a statement to Tom’s Hardware and basically said the main claims aren’t true. According to the company, its TVs only process voice data in two specific situations: when you press and hold the voice button on the remote, or when the far-field voice recognition feature is turned on and it hears the wake word (“Hi LG”).
Outside of those cases, LG says the TVs do not collect or record ambient conversations. Any audio used just for detecting the wake word stays on the device and gets deleted if there’s no match, nothing is sent to LG’s servers.
LG did admit that its smart TVs can scan for other devices on the same local network. It called this a normal feature that lots of smart TVs and connected home products use to handle device connections and content sharing. On the ACR side, the company said it’s an optional setting that needs user consent and can be turned off. Data from ACR isn’t used for advertising unless you specifically allow it.
LG stressed that users still control the privacy settings and that security is something they keep monitoring and updating. They didn’t respond to every single secondary claim in the video, but the statement clearly focuses on the biggest privacy worry, continuous eavesdropping, and tries to reassure people that isn’t happening.
Vivo is adding a couple of new wearables to the mix that’ll launch alongside its next flagship phones. The company has officially shown off the Vivo WATCH 6 smartwatch and the Vivo Buds Clip earbuds, both arriving with the highly anticipated X500 series.
The WATCH 6 runs BlueOS out of the box. Vivo has also confirmed Jay Chou as its imaging ambassador and dropped an unboxing video of the X500 Pro Max, so the hype train is already rolling.
Full pricing, detailed specs, and color options for the watch and earbuds still aren’t out yet. But from what’s been shown so far, premium materials, light weight, and practical features, they seem aimed at people who want accessories that look good and work well with their Vivo phone. Huawei’s newest flagship just went on sale and people are clearly interested in its unusual shape. The Pura X View, which is the world’s first wide-screen non-foldable smartphone, saw solid demand right out of the gate.
It launched on September 7 in China with special gifts for buyers and exclusive university student benefits worth up to 944 yuan (~€121). According to Wall Street News (via ITHome), the phone sold more than 180,000 units on its first day. For some context, the earlier Pura X and Pura X Max have already shipped over 2.9 million units combined.
Under the hood it’s running a Kirin 9030S processor and a pretty large 6,400 mm² vapor chamber for cooling. The front is a 6.39″ flat OLED with a 2232 × 1320 resolution and a slightly wider 16:9.5 aspect ratio. The bezels are tiny at just 1.05 mm on all four sides, giving it a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio. You also get 120 Hz refresh rate, 2160 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, a local peak of 6500 nits, and Kunlun glass protection.
The camera setup is a quad system on the back: a 200 MP RYYB main camera (1/1.28″ sensor, f/1.8, OIS), a 50 MP periscope telephoto (f/2.6, OIS, 88 mm equivalent), an 8 MP ultra-wide, and Huawei’s second-generation red maple primary color camera. Up front sits a 40 MP camera with a 1/2.55-inch sensor. It ships with HarmonyOS 7 and adds Huawei Share’s remote data transfer feature.
Battery life looks strong too: a 7000 mAh silicon-anode cell with 66 W wired and 50 W wireless charging. The phone itself is about 6.68 mm thick and weighs roughly 201 g. Color options are Shadow Red, Linen Gray, Zero White, and Midnight Black. It also has IP68 and IP69 ratings, two-way BeiDou satellite messaging, and eSIM support.
A wider screen in a regular slab phone, a big battery, and a solid first-day sales number make the Pura X View an interesting new entry in Huawei’s Pura lineup.
iQOO looks ready to drop a small but serious gaming tablet. Official teasers and confirmations point to a late-September launch in China, lined up right alongside the company’s next flagship phone.
The iQOO Pad Ultra will have an 8.8″ screen. It’s surprisingly slim and light for what it’s packing: just 5.74 mm thick and 298 g. iQOO has already confirmed a built-in cooling fan that measures 30×30×3.5 mm. That little fan covers 1,661 mm² of heat dissipation area, spins up to 14,500 rpm, and pushes out 0.94 CFM of airflow, basically there to keep the tablet from throttling when you’re deep into a long gaming session.
Two dedicated accessories are coming with it. One is a stretchable game controller that has its own USB-C port, micro-switches, and a Hall-effect joystick for better precision. The other is a simple back grip meant to make long play sessions more comfortable.
Earlier leaks say it’ll use an OLED panel with a centered single hole-punch camera and narrow bezels all around. Expect a square Deco design with an air vent. Power should come from a 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, paired with a battery in the 9,000 mAh range. Colors so far are listed as Shadow Black and Star Silver.
Full specs and pricing still aren’t official, but the combination of a compact form factor, active cooling, and gaming-focused accessories makes it clear this is aimed at people who want performance on the go. For now it looks like a China-only release, with no global plans confirmed yet. More details should start rolling out as the launch gets closer.
Apple’s first foldable only just got announced, and one of its coolest little software tricks has already shown up on a Samsung.
People have been pretty positive about the iPhone Duo so far, especially the way iOS 27 handles the dual-screen setup. The detail that stood out the most is this smooth transition animation when you open or close the phone. As the device folds, the wallpaper kind of dissolves and looks like it’s sliding through the moving half of the screen before popping up on the other side. It’s a clever visual trick that uses motion data and gradients so it doesn’t just feel like a hard cut between displays.
A Galaxy Z Fold 8 owner on Reddit (moomanjohnny) saw it and got a bit of FOMO. He posted that after watching Apple’s demo he poked around and realised the Fold 8 also has a really accurate hinge sensor. From there it was pretty straightforward: grab the hinge sensor values and use them to drive a similar transition on both screens.
The result looks surprisingly close. The half of the display that’s opening or closing goes semi-transparent so you can see the content underneath, just like the iPhone version. Same idea: sensors plus visual tricks, not actual see-through screens.

It’s still just a proof-of-concept, not a real system feature. The guy used home-screen screenshots, some shaders, and the hinge-angle data Android already makes available. Samsung doesn’t currently let third-party apps dig deep enough into the system to make this a native One UI thing. Even so, the Reddit crowd was impressed by how quickly someone pulled it off.
Apple’s version looks polished, but the almost-instant Android recreation (although just a proof-of-concept) shows the hardware side is already capable of doing something very similar, if the brand ever decides to build it in themselves.
Xiaomi has released and open-sourced Xiaomi-CocktailASR-1, a speech recognition model designed to handle one of the harder problems in audio transcription: picking out one person’s voice when multiple people are speaking at the same time.
Xiaomi calls this the “cocktail party problem.” Most speech recognition models work well when only one person is talking, but things get much harder when several voices overlap. This can lead to garbled text, merged sentences, or parts of a conversation being assigned to the wrong speaker.

The challenge is similar to what Xiaomi addressed with its OmniVoice text-to-speech model, although CocktailASR-1 works in the opposite direction by isolating and transcribing speech rather than generating it.
How Xiaomi-CocktailASR-1 works
To use CocktailASR-1, you first need to provide a short audio clip of the person you want to track. The model uses that clip as a voice reference and then searches through a recording with multiple speakers to identify and transcribe only that person’s speech.
Xiaomi built CocktailASR-1 around an end-to-end LLM architecture. The company says it has achieved state-of-the-art results across several multi-speaker speech recognition benchmarks, outperforming existing approaches designed for the same task.
The model is not limited to noisy group conversations, either. With just one speaker, Xiaomi says CocktailASR-1 performs at around the same level as standard automatic speech recognition (ASR) models. This means users do not have to give up single-speaker performance to get better results in crowded audio.
It can also avoid making unnecessary guesses. If the selected speaker does not appear in a recording, the model returns empty text instead of trying to transcribe another person’s voice.
CocktailASR-1 also includes a chain-of-thought reasoning mode, allowing users to inspect the reasoning associated with a transcription rather than only seeing the final text.
Xiaomi-CocktailASR-1 is the latest in a growing list of AI models that Xiaomi has open-sourced. It follows releases such as MiMo-V2-Flash and Xiaomi Robotics-0. The model is now available on GitHub and Hugging Face for developers to try and explore.
Samsung is giving Indian buyers another way to get its latest flagship smartphones. The Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra have now joined Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed program. This brings the two devices to Samsung’s official refurbished sales channel at lower prices.
The Galaxy S26 Certified Re-Newed model with 256GB storage is priced at Rs 74,799, while the 512GB version costs Rs 91,799. The Galaxy S26 Ultra starts at Rs 1,18,999 for 256GB and goes up to Rs 1,35,999 for the 512GB model. Samsung says the refurbished devices can be priced at up to 85% of their original launch prices, with availability and configurations depending on stock.
The company’s renewal process includes inspection, cleaning, refurbishment, and testing. Samsung uses genuine components when replacements are required, while each phone gets a certified battery that meets its quality and performance requirements. The devices are also reset to remove previous user data and updated to the latest available software before sale.
The Galaxy S26 features a 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an Exynos 2600 chipset, up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Its camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, along with a 4,300mAh battery and 25W wired charging.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra steps things up with a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and built-in Privacy Display. It uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, offers up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, and packs a 200-megapixel main camera alongside 50-megapixel periscope and ultrawide cameras and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. A 5,000mAh battery supports 60W wired and 25W wireless charging.

The new collection covers the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with DailyObjects expanding its Stack modular case range through new materials and colour options. Xiaomi first introduced the Mijia Portable Inflator on Xiaomi Youpin last September as a crowdfunding gadget for 159 yuan. A year later, the pump is now available on JD.com for 199 yuan.
The portable pump is designed for topping up bicycle, electric vehicle, and motorcycle tires, as well as sports balls. You can also keep it in your car as a backup for adding air to a tire during an emergency.
At 240g, the inflator is light enough to carry in a bag without adding much weight. It has a matte IML finish designed to resist scratches and everyday wear. An adjustable L-shaped air hose connects to different types of valves, while the multi-segment display shows the remaining battery level. Its compact design also makes it easy to store.

The pump uses a high-precision die-cast alloy cylinder that can reach pressures of up to 150psi. Xiaomi says it can inflate a bicycle tire from empty in around 60 seconds.
There are preset modes for motorcycles, bicycles, and balls, along with a custom mode. The custom mode remembers your last pressure setting, so you don’t have to enter it again when inflating the same type of tire. It also has a built-in light on the bottom that can provide a constant white light or an SOS flashing signal.
Power comes from a 2000mAh lithium-ion battery, which Xiaomi says is enough to inflate up to eight empty bicycle tires on a single charge. The pump can measure tire pressure within ±1psi and automatically calibrates itself every time it is turned on. Once the selected pressure is reached, the inflator automatically stops pumping.
The portable model is not Xiaomi’s only new inflator. The company recently launched the Mijia Air Pump 3, which is a larger model with two 2500mAh batteries and is aimed more at faster car-tire inflation.
For smaller jobs involving bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, or balls, the Mijia Portable Air Inflator offers a more compact option. It is now available on JD.com for 199 yuan (~ $30).
