Huawei P50 Pocket S foldable phone live images, storage variants, & pricing leaked

Huawei is gearing up to launch the new P50 Pocket S foldable smartphone model in China on November 2. But ahead of its official announcement, a new leak has revealed live images, storage variants, and even the pricing for the upcoming device.

Huawei

The news arrives from a post on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). Looking at the online post, the tipster shared an image of the P50 Pocket S model along with some interesting details regarding the device. Apparently, the new foldable smartphone will come in two storage configurations. This includes an 8GB + 128GB. Apart from this, the tipster also shared the possible pricing for the new smartphone as well.

Reportedly, the 8GB + 256GB variant will cost around 5,988 Yuan (roughly 820 US Dollars). On the other hand, the leak also claimed that the 128GB variant might around 5,488 Yuan or around 6,488 Yuan (roughly 752 or 888 US Dollars). Unfortunately, this was all the information that was shared about the Huawei P50 Pocket S foldable smartphone. The image that was shared with this post only shows a small portion of the device that is being held in its folded state. Notably, a previous leak had hinted at the pricing for the 256GB and 512GB variants (costing 4999 Yuan and 6999 Yuan respectively), although, the latest leak claims that there is no 512GB model.

Huawei

From what we know so far, the P50 Pocket S is a more affordable version of the previously launched P50 Pocket model. So, it will reportedly be powered by a Snapdragon 778G 4G chipset. It will also sport a 120Hz OLED foldable display that bends like a clamshell. Keep in mind that these leaked pricing and storage variants are just a leak as of right now and are not official. So take this news with a pinch of salt for now.

Huawei officially launches Mate 40 Pro 5G refurbished model in China

Earlier today (31st October 2022), Huawei announced that it will be selling a new refurbished smartphones model. The new refurbished device in question is the Mate 40 Pro 5G, which was spotted on Huawei Mall.

The refurbished version of the Mate 40 Pro 5G is an official model from the Chinese tech giant. In other words, it has gone through a strict refurbishment process to make it as good as a brand new Mate 40 Pro model. For those unaware, a refurbished phone is basically a device that either hand an owner for a very short period of time or was unboxed once before but were returned in both cases. So, the company services them and replaces any parts to make them as good as new to be sold again at a slightly discounted rate.

Huawei

Now, Huawei is officially offering its customers in China a refurbished Mate 40 Pro 5G model that was first announced two years ago back in October 2020. Talking about the smartphone itself, the Mate 40 Pro sports a 6.76 inch curved OLED display on the front and also houses a pill shared punch hole cutout for its 13 megapixel selfie camera and ToF 3D sensor for Face ID security technology. It is equipped with the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 5G SoC that is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The Mate 40 Pro 5G is powered by a 4,400mAh battery pack that supports 66W fast charging, 50W fast wireless charging, and reverse charging as well. On the rear, the smartphone features a 50 megapixel triple camera setup. Since it is a refurbished model, prospective buyers can expect to receive all of the original accessories as well. Furthermore, the brand will also launch this model with an official 1 year warranty, also houses new batteries, and is close to 90 percent to 99 percent new as per official claims.

OnePlus Ace Pro Genshin Impact Edition Unboxing: Hu Tao fans will love it!

We’ve been waiting three months for OnePlus to release their collaboration phone with Genshin: The Ace Pro Genshin Impact Edition. I promised you guys I would do an unboxing video of it, so we got the phone right now. Will this collaboration be better than the OnePlus 9RT Genshin Edition? Let’s check it out.

Unboxing

The box is very large, red in color, with the Genshin Impact logo in the middle. The interesting part is the black box inside, which has the front of Liyue Harbor printed on it. When you open this package, it also means that you have entered the Liyue Harbor.

Waiting for you inside is the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, one of the most powerful DPS characters in Teyvat: Hu Tao. This is an acrylic ornament with a multi-layered structure inside, and when you turn the viewpoint there will be a slight 3D effect. The build is excellent and looks great everywhere it is placed. At least for me, it was worth buying the phone for the ornament.

Below the ornament is the Ace Pro Genshin Impact Edition phone, which we’ll talk more about later.

There are four red boxes at the bottom of the phone, so let’s see what’s inside the two big boxes first. In this box there is also a small ornament, it’s a little ghost. You guessed it, it’s that naughty ghost next to Hu Tao, it is very lovely no matter what the pose or the expression it’s with.

Also what’s inside this large box is a phone case and some pieces of paper. First look at the phone case, the design uses red and black butterfly elements and Hu Tao’s name in the lower corner. And with the new material the phone can cool itself faster, if you buy the same type of case at your own expense, it is worth at least $ 20.

These pieces of paper contain not only instructions, but also Hu Tao stickers, and a Card with a redemption code. It can be exchanged for 4 gifts including 1,000 primogems. Unfortunately, these gifts can only be redeemed on the Chinese servers, and are not available on servers in other regions.

Don’t be sad, OnePlus at least gave you a Staff of Homa. Not in the game, but this, the SIM card pin. Homa is the best weapon for Hu Tao, and I still like the carefulness of OnePlus. The only thing I would complain about is that the weapon is a little flat for a collector’s item.

The other two small boxes are the charger and the cable, and the charger is printed with a red butterfly pattern. And there is also a big poster of Hu Tao. I still like all the accessories of Ace Pro Genshin Edition, it’s much better than last year’s OnePlus 9RT.

Design

Let’s take a look at what’s new in the design of the phone. The main design has not changed, for example the back cover is still glass, the frame is still plastic, and the lens module has not changed.

The back cover has many more patterns, the most noticeable one is the Hu Tao icon in the middle. Like the logo of OnePlus, it has a glossy finish and will stand out in the sunlight. There are flame patterns all around, which also show different visual effects in the light. There is even a flower pattern at the flash that is the same as Hu Tao’s eyes.

Although all the designs are very detailed, I think OnePlus could have done better. Remember the Oneplus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition, that’s the design that will make fans happy.

Software

Of course, the system is also customized. Both the charging animation and the fingerprint unlocking animation have Pyro elements designed. AOD is also designed with all the elements of Hu Tao. From the keyboard to the app icon, the overall look is very “Hu Tao”. Even her birthday is marked in the calendar for you. But the control center remains the same as other OnePlus phones, without any change.

The most interesting design on the phone would be the sound using Hu Tao’s Chinese VA. if you receive a message, you will hear her adorable voice. A phone call in, she would sing. If you can speak Chinese, then you can even talk to the voice assistant and her voice will turn into Hu Tao’s voice. If you like to use your Chinese voice when you play Genshin, then this is definitely for you.

You can click on the video at the beginning of the article to listen to Hu Tao Alarm

Genshin Gaming test

Since the Ace Pro is actually the Chinese version of the OnePlus 10T, it has all the features, you can check out in the previous video, so we’ll only test it for Genshin performance this time. By the way, Genshin Impact is already pre-installed on the phone, so you don’t need to download it. Ace Pro has performed very well before it’s with this Genshin Edition, so we challenged it with a more difficult scenario: Spiral Abyss floor 12.

Excluding the frame drops caused by every loading, Ace Pro Genshin Edition’s performance is top-notch, but most 8+ Gen 1 phones are pretty much the same. So just to play Genshin more smoothly, it is not necessary to pick it. I only recommend it to people who like to collect Genshin merch.

The Ace Pro Genshin Edition is priced the same as the regular version in China, but there is only one storage option. 16+512G for 4299 RMB, around 595 dollars. If you’re not in China, that big box plus shipping must be expensive. So whether you buy it or not depends on how much you love Hu Tao. As you can see, the Ace Pro Genshin Edition is very good. Except for the back cover of the phone which I am not very satisfied with, all the other places are perfect. Since Hu Tao has a co-branded phone, does that mean Hu Tao rerun is coming soon as well?

The OnePlus Ace Pro Genshin Impact Edition is available on Giztop at $899 for all global consumers.

MediaTek Dimensity 9200 outclasses Apple A16 Bionic chip in GPU benchmark: Report

MediaTek is apparently gearing up to launch its latest flagship level processor, which is rumored to be called the Dimensity 9200 SoC. Now, a new report has revealed that this upcoming chipset could outperform the Apple A16 Bionic in synthetic benchmarks. So here are all the details.

As per previous rumors, the chipmaking giant is working on a new flagship grade processor that will offer major improvements in performance over its predecessors. But prior to any announcements, a tipster has revealed new information regarding the Dimesnity 9200 SoC’s synthetic benchmark performance. Apparently, the GF Benchmark score of the upcoming MediaTek chipset managed to come as a surprise as it managed to outclass the Apple A16 Bionic chip.

MediaTek

For those unware, this is the same chip that powered the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. Apple processors have typically been slightly ahead of their Android counterparts in some areas, so it arrives as a surprise that MediaTek managed to edge ahead of the Cupertino based giant’s latest silicon. As per an ITHome report, the Dimensity 9200 SoC will be equipped on some premium grade flagship handsets that will launch later this year and next year as well.

The leak claims that the Dimensity 9200 managed to get a score of 328fps in the GFX 1080p Manhattan 3.0 off screen Test. This chip also reportedly scored 228 fps in Manhattan 3.1 off screen tests. For comparison, the Apple A16 Bionic only managed a score of 280 fps and 200 fps on these same tests respectively. Similarly, it even managed to edge ahead of the Dimensity 9000+, which scored 220 fps and 160 fps respectively, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 that scored 281 fps and 188 fps respectively.

As per known tipster Digital Chat Station, we also have some information regarding the chips core configuration. The Dimensity 9200 might have a maximum clock speed of 3.05GHz and a base frequency of 2.85GHz. On the other hand, its efficiency based cores wil supposedly run at 2.0GHz. This CPU will be paired with the Mali G715 GPU, which brings a combined score of 1,266,102 on AnTuTu. It is the higheset ever score on the platform. Keep in mind that this is till just an unconfirmed report so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.

Huawei Nova Y61

Huawei Nova Y61 Specifications

The Huawei Nova Y61 looks like any other budget smartphone. It has a flat frame design and a rear camera layout similar to the Apple iPhone Pros. But the actual cameras are underwhelming as they are a basic 50MP primary shooter, a 2MP macro snapper, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 5MP front-facing unit.

Though the company doesn’t mention it, the device seems to feature a plastic build. It measures 164.28 x 75.8 x 8.94mm in dimensions, weighs 188g, and arrives in three colors (Sapphire Blue, Mint Green, and Midnight Black).

The handset sports a 6.52-inch display (LCD) with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels (HD+) and a dewdrop notch. It is powered by an unnamed chipset comprising an octa-core CPU.

It comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage in the Asia Pacific region. Whereas, in the rest of the world, it features 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Similarly, in some regions, it arrives with dual SIM, while limited to single SIM in others. Even NFC is limited to certain regions only.

Either way, all the variants offer single-band WiFi, 4G, Bluetooth 5.1, and GNSS. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port (USB 2.0).

On the software front, the device boots EMUI 12 with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) instead of Google Mobile Services (GMS). Last but not least, it is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast wired charging.

The leak claims that the device will run on Android 13 OS based MIUI 14 out of the box. The Xiaomi 13 Pro will reportedly be powered by a large 4,800mAh battery pack that will support an impressive 120W fast charging. Alleged Google Pixel 7 Mini’s key details emerge

Google is reportedly working on a couple of new devices that have Lynx and Felix codenames. The Lynx (shortened codename – L10) is said to be a Pixel series smartphone, while the Felix is likely to end up as a foldable phone. The final moniker of the Pixel Lynx is not known yet. Android researcher Kuba Wojciechowski recently tipped off some information about the device.

In July, Kuba claimed that the Lynx could be the third high-end Pixel phone for this year. At that time, he revealed that the camera setup of the Lynx model has the Samsung GN1 main camera and the Sony IMX787 camera. For selfies, the device will offer a Sony IMX712 camera on the front. In September, the tipster claimed that there are two Sony IMX712 sensors on the device. One of them is on the front, while the other one will be available as an ultra-wide snapper on the back.

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro

Kuba said that Qualcomm’s Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth chip (WCNG6740) will be in the Lynx Pixel phone. To recall, the Broadcom BCM4389 chip is in both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series. The Lynx phone will also have support for wireless charging.

Coming to the display, the Lynx model is likely to feature a slightly inferior display as compared to the existing Pixel Pro models. The screen may support a 120Hz refresh rate and a Full HD+ resolution. The displays of the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro also support a 120Hz refresh rate and they also offer a high resolution of 1440 x 3210 pixels. Kuba has speculated that it could be the Pixel 7 Mini. The Lynx phone certainly does not appear to be the Pixel 7a as some publications have reported.

Speaking of Pixel 7 Mini, leaked information shared by Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station in September revealed that the Pixel 7 Mini is a small-screen flagship phone. He also claimed that the device is codenamed “Neila.” Hence, it is unclear whether the Neila and Lynx are the same or similar devices.

OnePlus Ace Pro Genshin Impact Limited Edition goes on sale today in China

Last week, OnePlus launched a special edition smartphone in China called the OnePlus Ace Pro Genshin Impact Limited Edition. The device will finally go on sale later today for RMB 4,299 (~$591).

This is a custom version of the OnePlus Ace Pro (aka the OnePlus 10T) which comes with a Genshin Impact-themed paint job, UI, and with multiple collectibles of the said game. For those unaware, Genshin Impact is a highly popular action-adventure role-playing game available on both PC and smartphones.

Oneplus Ace Pro Genshin Impact edition

The design of the smartphone is basically themed around Hu Tao, one of the most powerful DPS characters in Genshin Impact. The smartphone comes packaged in a collector-grade, limited gift box. The city wall at the Liyue port’s entrance is reflected in the texture of the box. A gift box that comes with the smartphone contains a variety of extras, including Hu Tao stickers, a limited-edition Hu Tao painting poster, “A Letter to Travelers” (which includes 1,000 rough stones), a SIM ejector pin, a butterfly seat charging adapter, and a specially designed heat dissipation protective shell.

On the back of the device, we find an etching of Hu Tao along with flame textures themed after her Pyrokinesis abilities. There are multiple butterflies etched on the rear panel and the LED flash unit has the same flower pattern as Hu Tao’s eyes.

The OnePlus Ace Pro Genshin Impact edition has the same core specifications as the standard device. This means that the smartphone has a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It boasts a 16MP front camera and a 50MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle snapper, and a 2MP macro sensor on the back. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, paired with 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It has a 4,800mAh battery that supports 150W fast charging. The Hu Tao-themed software customization on the OnePlus Ace Pro Genshin Impact edition includes boot animation, live wallpaper, fingerprint unlocking, charging animation, built-in app icons, and more.

NexPad: the secondary display for smartphones begins shipping with $249 price tag

Earlier this year, Nex Computer revealed the NexPad, which is basically a portable external display compatible with smartphones, laptops, and PCs. Almost 10 months after its announcement, the company is finally commencing shipments of the NexPad.

The NexPad is still a $249 purchase, with a $19 shipping fee from Nex Computer. The brand hasn’t made any changes to the spec sheet as the NexPad’s 277 x 250 x 63 mm chassis still houses a 12-inch laminated display. The NexPad, according to Nex Computer, uses an IPS panel with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

For those unaware, NexPad’s highlight feature is that it can turn your Android smartphone into a tablet. Utilizing Android’s built-in desktop mode is the focal point of NexPad. A USB Type-C connection is also available on the NexPad for attaching a smartphone. It also includes a number of magnets for fastening your smartphone while holding the NexPad. According to Nex Computer, you could use your mounted smartphone as a touchpad or additional screen. The device weighs a considerable amount at 736 g, and the combined weight with a smartphone could land it close to a kilogram. This is likely why NexPad comes with an included kickstand to convert the device into a tabletop tablet.

Other than the USB-C port, the NexPad also has dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports with pass-through charging, a mini HDMI 2.0 port, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port for data transfer. The NexPad could serve as a secondary laptop display. Nex Computer demonstrates how the NexPad may be attached to the top of a laptop. The magnets on the former’s front panel, presumably, interact with those in most laptop-top covers. The device is currently available for purchase in the US and Canada. Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 tablet in works, could be Xiaomi Pad 6 series

An Android tablet featuring the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset is in the works, claims reliable tipster Digital Chat Station. However, he did not share the marketing name of the device. It is speculated that he could be talking about the Xiaomi Pad 6 series.

This is not the first time the tipster has leaked information about a Snapdragon 8-series chipset. Back in June, he claimed that it was reportedly tipped that Xiaomi is working on a tablet with a 14-inch display. He also said that it will be the most expensive model in the lineup, which appears to be the Xiaomi Pad 6 series.

Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.5

The 14-inch Xiaomi Pad 6 series may arrive as a competitor to the likes of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and the iPad Pro 2022. Hence, there is a possibility that the device could be called the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro / Ultra. A report from the past said that the same model might come with a Dimensity 9000 chipset.

The Xiaomi Pad 6 lineup is likely to include at least three models. The Pad 6 series is expected to offer a 144Hz LTPO OLD panel and support up to 120W fast charging. The device may come preinstalled with the latest Android 13 OS.

Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi 13 series featuring the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset by the end of November this year. There is a chance that Xiaomi’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 tablet will be shown at the launch event for the Xiaomi 13. Readers are advised to wait for further reports to learn more about the Xiaomi Pad 6 series.

Vivo X90 official camera samples show the prowess of the new Zeiss camera

Vivo has confirmed speculations that the X90 series will feature the new Zeiss lenses for improved camera output. Vivo has provided images of the upcoming hardware in the X90 lineup. The X90 series will come with primary cameras with more efficient light-sensitive sensors (up to 77%) and support for artificial intelligence (AI) to maximize quality.

The top model in the X90 series is the Vivo X90 Pro Plus which is rumored to be equipped with four high-megapixel cameras. The release of the camera samples preceded the actual release of the Vivo X90 lineup and reflects the OEM’s aim to focus on camera capabilities for the X90. Vivo made a similar move when the X80 Pro was released. Vivo says that all models in the X90 lineup will have primary cameras that are 77% more light-sensitive than the ISOCELL GNV. The ISOCELL GNV was a custom-made sensor with a 1/1.3-inch optical format and an f/1.57 aperture.

The Vivo X90’s new sensor is claimed to operate at up to ISO 102,400 which is quite massive. This allows the smartphone to shoot nightscapes without a tripod stand or a long exposure. However, the high ISO rating reduces the dynamic range and increases image noise as shown in the images. The images also reflect up to 3.5x magnification and an AI algorithm that recognizes 103 facial features. The AI algorithm also can adjust the background and applies intelligent beauty filters.

Vivo is yet to provide details on the release date of the X90 series. How many models will feature in the X90 lineup is also unclear.

Ahead of the expected launch, a couple of live shots of the Realme 10 4G have started doing the rounds on social media platforms. Here is a look at what appears to be the actual Realme 10 4G.

Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition fails to meet advertised 210W fast charging in independent testing

Last week, Redmi launched the Note 12 series of smartphones with the vanilla Note 12, the Note 12 Pro, the Note 12 Discovery Edition, and the Note 12 Pro Plus in the lineup. Out of these devices, the Note 12 Discovery Edition comes with a 4,300mAh battery paired with jaw-dropping 210W fast charging.

The company claims that the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition can in just 9 minutes using the 210W fast charging feature. However, independent testing by Charger Labs has revealed that the real-world charging performance is not quite up to the advertised values.

Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition

The Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition manages to reach a peak charging wattage of 184.85 W roughly three minutes into Charger Labs’ charging test. It doesn’t charge at such great Wattage for long either, as is to be expected from such high power outputs, as it lowers down to lower wattages. The Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition charges at a rate that is typically much higher than 120 W.

According to Charger Labs’ test, the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition can charge to 100% in 10 minutes and 10 seconds, compared to Xiaomi’s claim that the mid-range phone can do so in nine minutes. Although it doesn’t exactly match Xiaomi’s claim, it comes close and is far faster than every other smartphone ever created.

More astoundingly, it accomplishes it without producing a lot of heat. The Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition’s maximum temperature during the test was merely 43.3°C. This could be attributed to the fact that the device features a large 3,000mm² VC cooling system.
