It may have a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary shooter, and a 2-megapixel camera. The device may also feature up to 150W charging support because we all know OnePlus is a company that loves fast charging.

OPPO Reno8 Pro just debuted in the global market: the Global version is actually a rebrand of the device known in China as the OPPO Reno8 Pro Plus. A few days before, Realme launched a new flagship placed in the same price range: the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition. It is not a top-tier flagship, just like the Reno, but it is placed exactly in the middle between the Realme GT 2 and the GT 2 Pro. That is also a reason why it is a perfect competitor for the new Reno8 Pro. So should you go for the Realme flagship killer or choose the OPPO high-end? This is a comparison between the specifications of the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition and the OPPO Reno8 Pro Global which will let you find out.

Design
These phones come with a very original design. The Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition comes in a color option resembling a travel trunk, with a back cover made of leather and a brown aluminum frame. It is very beautiful and distinctive, and in case you do not like it, there are other standard color variants. The OPPO Reno8 Pro Global is a more traditional phone in terms of design, but it is made with premium materials: it has a glass back, an aluminum frame, and a front glass protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5. Further, it is thinner and lighter than the Realme flagship killer, with a thickness of just 7.3 mm and a weight of just 183 grams. Both these handsets come with a very high screen to body ratio: the display takes more than 90 percent of the front side and even the chin is very thin, as thin as the other three bezels.
Display
It looks like the OPPO Reno8 Pro Global and the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition are equipped with the same display. That is the reason why, if you are evaluating these two phones, you should focus on the remaining specifications. Coming back to the displays, they are AMOLED panels with a diagonal of 6.7 inches able to show up to one billion colors thanks to a 10-bit color depth. They sport a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness of 950 nits, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. We are not talking about the most advanced panel out there, but it still belongs to the high-end segment with amazing color reproduction and a high refresh rate. The Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition and the OPPO Reno8 Pro Global are equipped with stereo speakers, but they do not have a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Specs & Software
The king of hardware in this comparison is the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition, which is also one of the most powerful phones out there. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform: currently, it is the best processor by Qualcomm. It is an octa-core chipset built at 4 nm and composed of a Cortex X2 CPU running at a max frequency of 3.19 GHz, three Cortex A710 CPUs running at 2.75 GHz, and four Cortex A510 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, as well as an Adreno 730 GPU. The OPPO Reno8 Pro is fueled by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max mobile platform: an upgraded variant of the Dimensity 8100 with better AI capabilities. It is a chipset built at 5 nm with an octa-core architecture composed of four Cortex A78 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.85 GHz, four Cortex A55 CPUs running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G610 MC6 GPU. Both the handsets run Android 12 out of the box, but the ColorOS 12.1 found on the OPPO Reno8 Pro is a bit more advanced than the Realme UI 3.0.
Camera
When it comes to the main camera, the OPPO Reno8 Pro Global is a more interesting phone because it is supported by the MariSilicon X proprietary NPU achieving better image quality in night photography and videos. On the other hand, the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition has a better ultrawide sensor with a 50 MP resolution (instead of a poor 8 MP one). Last but not least, the Reno has a superior 32 MP selfie shooter.
The Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition has a bigger battery and, alongside its efficient chipset, it provides a longer battery life. It even supports a faster charging technology with a power of 100W. The OPPO Reno8 Pro Global is thinner but it has a smaller 4500 mAh battery with 80W fast charging.
Price
The OPPO Reno8 Pro Global is priced at Rs. 45,999 / $580 in India, while the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition is supposed to hit the Indian market with an Rs. 41,000 / $518 starting price. If so, Realme will offer a higher value for money.
Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition vs OPPO Reno8 Pro Global: PRO and CONS
Earlier this year, Xiaomi‘s sub-brand Redmi released a couple of numbered devices in India. These are the affordable Redmi 10 and the Redmi 10A. There is also a Redmi C which is not available in the Indian market. However, it appears that the company is not done with the Redmi 10 series in India, as there is another device on the way.
According to a screenshot shared by tipster Mukul Sharma, a device named the Redmi 10 2020 made an appearance on Xiaomi India’s website. No information other than the name is available at this moment but considering that there is no mention of 5G, we are likely looking at a 4G device.
Redmi 10A
We could also speculate that the device might be a Redmi 10C, but considering that the Redmi 10 is a better value for money compared to that device, it is highly unlikely.
So, what can we expect from the smartphone? Well, considering the fact that Redmi targets the Rs. 10,000-13,000 segment with their numbered devices, we could expect a Full HD display as many devices under Rs. 10,000 are already providing it in the Indian market. If this does happen then there is also a chance that we might get a weaker chipset with the device compared to the Redmi 10’s Snapdragon 680. This, however, is mere speculation right now, and we would like to wait for more information to surface to paint a clearer image.
In the meantime, we can look at the specification of the current Redmi 10 to get an idea of what to expect from the Redmi 10 2022.
Redmi 10 Specs
The Redmi 10 has a 6.71-inch display (LCD) with a resolution of 720 x 1650p (HD+) and a 60Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the phone comes with a Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with up to 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 28GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It packs a giant 6,000mAh battery paired with 18W fast charging. As for the operating system, the device boots MIUI 13 based on Android 11 out of the box.
For optics, it has a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor on the back. Whereas, for selfies and video calls, there’s a 5MP shooter on the front. Other features of the device include dual SIM card slots, 4G connectivity, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0a dedicated MicroSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and GNSS.
Samsung has debunked speculations that it is discontinuing the production of Exynos chips. Rumors have been rife that the company will forgo Exynos SoCs in its flagship offerings by 223/2024. It has also been inferred that Samsung will also jettison the production of the chips subsequently. A recent report monitored in South Korea quotes Samsung as saying that the rumor is false.
The statement from Samsung came during its Q2 2022 conference call where it outlined its performance for the quarter. Samsung says it will not discontinue its Exynos manufacturing business and it is working on expanding the competitiveness of the Exynos brand. Samsung says it hopes to collaborate with other IP businesses and begin early developments to shore up the market share of its major clients.
Samsung is also reportedly developing a premium processor specifically for the Galaxy S series. Samsung’s 1,000+ Dream Team is rumored to be working on the new high-end chip. It is however rumored that the efforts to deliver on the current premium Galaxy S chip have led Samsung to delay the release of a new Exynos chip.
The target release date for the new Galaxy S series chip is 2025. The upcoming Galaxy S23 models will have only Snapdragon SoCs. Samsung reiterates that it plans to continue on its investment trajectory by analyzing the market outlook and global demands in the medium and long term.
More details about the upcoming Xiaomi Pad 6 series have surfaced. It is rumored that the lineup will include a tablet powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The specified model will have a 14-inch screen and is rumored to have similar specs to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
A tipster, Digital Chat Station provided the new details relating to the Xiaomi Pad 6 series. The lineup is expected to be released this year but there are no specifics yet. It is noted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was alluded to by the tipster. The latest premium chipset in the Snapdragon lineup is the 8+ Gen 1. The tipster says that the most expensive model in the lineup will also be the largest, which is the 14-inch model. It will however come with a competitive price as an affordable alternative to the S8 Ultra.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8100 could also power one of the tablets in the Pad 6 series, according to the tipster. The Xiaomi Pad 6 flagship will have a battery capacity of up to 9,000mAh but is reportedly yet to be registered. It should be noted that these rumored specs for the Xiaomi iPad 6 series are yet speculative. Xiaomi is yet to provide definitive details of its upcoming tablet lineup for this year. The release date, pricing, and global availability details of the Pad 6 series are yet to surface.

Motorola is gearing up to launch a new flagship device in markets around the world soon. The device is called the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra (for the global market) and the Motorola Edge X30 Pro for the Chinese market. The device is scheduled to launch in China on August 2 at 7:30 pm (local time). So let’s take a look at what we can expect from the device.
Design & display
So far, the leaked renders of the Motorola Edge X30 Pro reveal its design from every angle. The device has a flat back with curved edges on two sides. The top and back of the device have flat edges. The back features a rectangular camera module with one huge camera cutout and two smaller cutouts. The right side of the Edge X30 has a power button and a volume rocker while the bottom houses a USB-C port, a speaker grill, and the SIM slot.
The display of the smartphone will be a 6.73-inch pOLED display that produces a Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. It will sport a curved-edge panel with a punch-hole design. The device will come equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Specs
Under the hood, the smartphone will carry the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset that is manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm node. The new chipset promises a 7% CPU and 10% GPU performance uplift compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the Edge X30 while being 30% more energy efficient.
The device is expected to come with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Its battery will have a 4,500mAh capacity and offer support for 125W fast charging.
Camera
What makes this device special is its camera setup. It is all but confirmed to feature the Samsung ISOCELL HP1 200-megapixel primary camera sensor which is 1/1.22″ in size. The sensor features an all-new ChameleonCell technology, a pixel-binning technology that uses a two-by-two, four-by-four, or full pixel layout depending on the environment. It can take 8K videos at 30fps with minimum loss in the field of view.
The HP1 merges four neighboring pixels to bring the resolution down to 50MP to take 8K videos without the need to crop or scale down the full image resolution. In a low-light environment, the HP1 transforms into a 12.5-megapixel image sensor with large 2.56μm pixels by merging 16 neighboring pixels, capable of more light absorption and sensitivity, as well as producing brighter and clearer photos. However, in bright outdoor environments, the sensor can capture ultra-high-definition photos.
Other than the primary sensor, the Edge X30 Pro will also feature a 50-megapixel sensor and a 12-megapixel sensor on the back. These could be for the ultra-wide camera and the telephoto camera. On the front, the device is said to feature a 60-megapixel selfie shooter.
Pricing
Not much is known about the device when it comes to pricing, however, it is confirmed that the starting price of the device will be more than 3,000 yuan.

Global smartphone market has witnessed a sharp 9% decrease in shipments in the second quarter of 2022, as per a report by Canalys. shipments fell to 287 million units in Q2 2022 which is the lowest quarterly figure since Q2 2020. Samsung took the lead in the market with 61.8 million shipments and a 21% market share. Apple secured the second spot shipping 49.5 million phones and holding a 17% market share. Xiaomi secured the third spot with 39.6 million units, while OPPO and Vivo stayed in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
A report from Canalys says that global smartphone shipments reached 287 million units in the second quarter of 2022, marking a 9% year-on-year (YoY) decrease.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung took first place with 21% of the market share. However, its shipments decreased by 16% from the previous quarter despite a 6% annual gain as the vendor battled unhealthy inventory levels, particularly in the mid-range. Samsung is promoting its low-end A series products aggressively and heavily, taking advantage of the mass market’s low-cost ODM production to boost consumer demand.
Apple stayed in the second spot thanks to the solid demand for the iPhone 13 series in North America, China, and Europe.
The Chinese OEMs continued to bleed due to a number of lockdowns during the quarter. The report indicated the market share of Oppo decreased from 11% to 10%, whereas Vivo went down from 10% to 9% and Xiaomi also suffered with its market share dropping from 17% to 14%.
“There will be increasing tensions throughout the entire smartphone supply chain as demand weakness will likely continue for an extended period,” said Toby Zhu, Canalys Analyst. “The market is experiencing exceptionally challenging business conditions. Vendors should improve transparency when working with component suppliers and channel partners in the following quarters. Geopolitical issues, a dip in consumer confidence, and high inflation will continue to damage future market performance, despite upcoming new launches and festival sales in the second half of 2022.”
When we think of luxury products, Xiaomi is probably the last company that comes to our mind because it mostly sticks with a minimalist design and launches products that get the work done. But it seems the Chinese company chose to surprise its fans with a special Xiaomi Mi Band 6 with Gold Frame and Buckle. However, the gold-encrusted tracker is not selling cheap, it comes for a whopping 2,529 Yuan ($375).
Xiaomi, in collaboration with the mining company China Gold and the China Academy of Arts, has launched a wide collection of diamond-set gold frames and buckles for a number of its smart bands. These frames and buckles can be used on the Xiaomi Mi Band 4, 5, 6, and even the Band 7.
The whole collection of these gold-encrusted “add-ons” is available at various prices starting at $11. The most expensive among all is a set of frame and buckle fitted on the Xiaomi Mi Band 6. It is currently available at a discounted price of $375. The original price is around $440. This is a lot when you see that the regular Xiaomi Mi Band 6 comes at less than $40
The gold-studded smart band comes in various sets including an “eight-sided mighty flying pig gold shell set”. For the unversed, a pig is a symbol of luck and fortune in China. There is also a “flying tiger gold diamond buckle” and a “flying pig dream foot gold buckle”.
Xiaomi is selling these gold frames and buckles through the YouPin website. If you live outside China and are interested in buying these, you’ll be disappointed to know that Xiaomi has restricted the sale to the Chinese market.

Resetting your phone before bringing it in for repairs is a normal procedure to avoid the possibility of private information (such as images or accounts) falling into the wrong hands. The need to back up your data beforehand and restore it later adds to the hassle of getting your device fixed.
Sometimes people find it too unconvincing and either erase the device completely or give it for repair with their personal data, which a lot of times results in data leaks. To get rid of this hassle as well as the privacy & security concerns, Samsung has come up with a solution called Repair Mode.
This new feature will be available in the Battery and Device Care section of the Settings menu. Activating it will reboot your device. The mode will conceal all personal information once it is activated, including images, texts, accounts, and even apps (only the default installed apps will be active). In essence, the phone will appear to have been reset.
You can use a fingerprint or pattern lock to turn off Repair Mode when repairs are complete and you pick up your phone. This will restart the phone once more, but this time, all of your data will be fully accessible. All modifications made by the technician during the repair will also be undone.
The Galaxy S21 series will get Repair Mode first via a software update. According to Samsung, it will “extend it to several additional models in the future.” However, since the press release was posted only on Samsung’s Korean site only, it appears that the feature might be initially exclusive to South Korea.

More and more details are beginning to surface as Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in August draws nearer. Despite the fact that we have previously only seen renders, today marks the full unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Z Foldables.
Our best look yet at the next smartphones is courtesy of Evan Blass, who posted the leak on 91Mobiles. Even if there isn’t much to be enthused about in terms of the design, it is wonderful to see all of the phones before their formal introduction. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 can be seen in three colors from the renders: black, gold, and what seems to be a deep blue. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 in its four available colors—black, rose gold, light blue, and Bora Purple—is also given a nicer aesthetic. Samsung previously revealed the Bora Purple shade when it unveiled a new Galaxy S22 color scheme. Additionally, it hinted that the color will appear on upcoming gadgets.
Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be powered by Qualcomm’s most recent Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is constructed on TSMC’s leading 4nm node and offers up to 30% more battery life than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. The chipset will have storage capacities of 256GB and 512GB and will be combined with either 12GB or 16GB RAM.

The front camera on the outer screen will be a 10-megapixel unit, while the camera on the inner screen would be a 16-megapixel under-display unit. Other than that, the gadget is rumored to have a 4,400mAh battery with 25W fast charging and run One UI, which is based on Android 12.
OPPO A77 is expected to debut in India soon. It will arrive as the successor to the OPPO A76 that was announced earlier this year. Tipster Mukul Sharma has told publication 91Mobiles that the OPPO A77 will launch in the country by the first week of August. The report also reveals the upcoming offering’s pricing and key specifications.
