In the second quarter of 2022 i.e. the period from April to June, smartphone shipments in India grew 3 percent year-on-year basis. 35 million smartphone units were sold during this period. However, the first half of the year recorded 1 percent year-on-year decline to 71 million units according to statistical data from International Data Corporation (IDC).

Although supply chain issues are easing now, IDC attributes the half-yearly decline to the rising inflation resulting in higher market prices.

As for brand performance, Xiaomi maintained its lead with a 20.4 percent market share. However, it is the only vendor in the top five list with a negative growth on a YoY basis during the same period last year. Realme came second with a 17.3 percent market share and a big 23.7 percent year-on-year gain. Vivo bagged the third spot with a 16.9 percent market share. It lead the offline segment with 24 percent and was the second largest 5G smartphone brand in the country. Samsung dropped to the fourth spot with a 16.3 percent share, however, it lead the 5G segment with a 46 percent shipments. OPPO was the fifth in the list with an 11.3 percent market share and a 2.3 percent YoY growth.

IDC says that the supply of 5G smartphones is much better than 4G leading to a higher average selling price but low demand. Online channels clocked a 5 percent YoY growth to 52 percent and this is expected to stay strong for the second half of the year due to the festive season. The ASP has reached a new high of $213 since Q4, 2020. The premium smartphone segment of $500 (~Rs 40,000) and above was the highest growing segment with an 83 percent YoY increase. Apple continued to dominate followed by OnePlus and Samsung.

Last year, Garmin launched the Enduro smartwatch designed for endurance sports like mountain climbing, hiking, and others. The company has now unveiled a successor to the Enduro smartwatch known as the Enduro 2 GPS multisport watch. The Garmin Enduro 2 comes with expanded features and strives to keep up with even the longest performances.

Garmin’s Enduro 2 is made of lightweight titanium, with a touchscreen protected by a Power Sapphire lens, and a nylon band. Users can extend the watch’s battery life in GPS mode to up to 150 hours with sun charging and SatIQ technology. It can last up to 46 days in smartwatch mode.

The OnePlus Ace Pro was originally planned to launch on August 3. However, the event got postponed and the device finally went official in China today. For the unaware, the handset is nothing but a rebranded OnePlus 10T for the brand’s home country.

HP has unveiled two all-in-one PC’s in India. They are the HP Envy 34-inch and HP Pavilion 31.5-inch. The former is more premium among the two computing devices. Both desktops share some identical specifications and are designed for a hybrid workforce.

Another day, another outage for a major tech based company. Google saw a massive outage across the globe, with a number of its services going down like the Google Search service.

This outage had began on Monday night (8th August 2022), with a DownDetector finding a surge in number of complaints it received about the Google Search in the US. People using the Search service saw long leading times, empty results, and much more. Out of all the complaints raised, the vast majority of the issues were based on the Search service, while some were also facing issues on some of its other services as well. Furthermore, many people facing this issue took to Twitter to share their experiences with the #GoogleDown and #GoogleOutage tags.

Notably, certain people using the Search service received the “500” error, which basically implies a server problem. Thus, its other services were also affected, including YouTube, Photos, Maps, Drive, Duo, and more. Although, not every region saw these issues. WhatsApp is bringing a new update for its messaging service. It offers a quality of life change and will offer users a longer time period for deleting messages that have already been sent. Now, one can basically delete messages that were sent a little over two days ago.

For those unaware, the Delete for Everyone option typically only works for a bit over an hour, but the period has been extended even further. Previously, this deletion option had been limited to one hour, eight minutes, and sixteen seconds. And now, the Delete for Everyone option will be available for more than 2 days and 12 hours. So, you can still remove your message and have it replaced with “This message was deleted”.

The social media giant announced this update earlier today (9th August 2022). To delete a message, simply press and hold on to the message you wish to delete then select Delete > Delete for everyone. However, keep in mind, for this function to work as intended, both the sender and receiver must be on the latest version of WhatsApp. This feature was first discovered being tested on the iOS platform last month. Now, it is finding its way to the final builds, as per the official Twitter handle.

The iQOO Z6x and Vivo X80 Lite are the two upcoming phones from Vivo. Both devices have appeared in the database of the Google Supported Devices list (via). The listings have only revealed the model numbers of both phones.

The iQOO Z6x has appeared with model number V2164KA. Unfortunately, there is no word on the specifications of the device. The Z6x will join the Z6 family, which already includes members like the iQOO Z6 5G, iQOO Z6 Pro 5G, and iQOO Z6 44W.

The Z6-series phones have been rebranded versions of the Vivo T1 series in India. Hence, there is a possibility that the iQOO Z6x could be a rebranded version of the Vivo T1x, which recently debuted in India. The T1x features a 6.58-inch IPS LCD FHD+ 90Hz display, FunTouch OS 12 based on Android 12 OS, an 8-megapixel front camera, dual rear cameras with 50-megapixel (main) and 2-megapixel (depth), Snapdragon 680, 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB or 128 GB of built-in storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging support.

The Vivo X80 Lite 5G has appeared with model number V2208 in the list of Google Supported Devices. But the listing also includes the model number V2202, which seemingly belongs to the upcoming Vivo V25 5G.

Recent reports have revealed that the V25 5G will come with an FHD+ AMOLED display with an in-screen fingerprint scanner, Dimensity 900, 8 GB of RAM, and Android 12 OS with FunTouch OS 12 UI. The image of the device that appeared on the Play Console revealed its screen would have a waterdrop notch.

Recently, we had covered news regarding Nio working on its first ever smartphone. Now, a new report has revealed some interesting details regarding the popular EV maker’s upcoming first smartphone.

According to an ArenaEV report, sources close to the matter have revealed details regarding the chipset that will power this new handset as well as its charging capacity as well. For those unaware, Nio is a known electric vehicle manufacturer that is based in China. The brand’s founder had revealed that it planned on launching a new phone a year and wanted to make it a high end flagship product.

Now, the latest report has reveled that this Nio branded smartphone will feature a flagship level Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm. In other words, the most likely candidate that fits the bill is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is the chipmaker’s latest and greatest smartphone processor. However, considering that the first smartphone in question is set to launch sometime next year, it is also likely that it will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Apart from this, the report adds that the smartphone will sport a QHD+ curved display that will have an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and a punch hole camera at the front.

Interestingly, Nio already employs Qualcomm chips for its EV’s infotainment systems. This includes chips like the Snapdragon 8155. The brand has also developed its own custom OS as well for the EV’s interface, so we can also expect the smartphone to feature a custom skin as well. Lastly, the final detail revealed in the report was that the Nio handset will feature a battery that supports 100W fast charging, with the capacity being around 4,500mAh to 4,800mAh.

The launch of the Oppo Watch 3 series of smartwatches is just around the corner. The company is gearing up to announce the new smart wearable products on August 10, and now, we have more details prior to its release.

Oppo has just listed the new Watch 3 series of smartwatches for reservations on its Chinese online store. Looking at these listings, we are also offered a glimpse at some of the specifications regarding the upcoming wearable devices. As per this listing, the Chinese phone maker’s higher end Watch 3 Pro model will sport a 1.91 inch AMOLED LTPO screen that will support Always on Display functionality as well.

Unfortunately, the details regarding the display of the base Watch 3 model is still at large. Although, it has already been confirmed by the brand that both versions will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset as well as Oppo’s proprietary Apollo 4 Plus co processor. Apart from this, the listing has also revealed some additional features like ECG, eSIM, NFC, and 5ATM water resistance. A few days back, a smartphone called Redmi 11 Prime 5G appeared on Xiaomi India’s website. The same phone has been now spotted in MIUI code as well. As the device’s codename and model number are out, we now know everything about it.

According to Xiaomiui, the upcoming Redmi 11 Prime 5G for India is codenamed ‘light’ and it bears the model number 22041219I. Going by these details, it is nothing but a rebranded Redmi Note 11E from China.

It is worth noting that the Redmi Note 11E is already available in India with some tweaks in the form of Poco M4 5G. The Poco-branded handset has a different rear design, a better selfie camera, and boots Android 12.

Further, just a couple of days back, the Redmi Note 11E also went official in Indonesia as Redmi 10 5G. This version of the smartphone has no changes in specs, except that it runs Android 12 instead of Android 11.

The Redmi 11 Prime 5G heading to India will most likely be identical to the Redmi 10 5G from Indonesia.

Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless noise-canceling headphones with 60-hour battery life launched

Sennheiser has announced new headphones to its lineup of Momentum premium devices, dubbed Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless which comes with a new design compared to the previously launched models.

The new noise-canceling headphones have been priced at $349.95 and feature a more modern look compared to the retro aesthetic usually found in previous headphones. The new model is also more lightweight and more comfortable to wear.

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones are now available for pre-order, and the company will start selling this new audio product starting from 23rd August.

The highlight of the headphones is the massive battery life, as the company claims that the Momentum 4s can offer up to 60 hours of playback time on a single charge. The battery life is almost double than what the competitor’s products like Sony WH-1000XM5, Bose QuietComfort 45, Apple AirPods Max offer.

It still uses 42mm drivers that the company says are tuned for “brilliant dynamics, clarity, and musicality.” Sennheiser has also moved away from physical button controls and has adopted the same tap and swipe gestures as other popular noise-canceling headphones. As for the support of Bluetooth codecs, it supports AAC, SBC, aptX, and aptX Adaptive. It features multipoint connectivity, including wired USB-C audio.

The Motorola Moto G32 was initially announced in Europe at the end of July. Last week, the handset was confirmed to launch in India today. As scheduled, the company has officially debuted the phone in the region. Let’s take a look at its pricing and availability along with specifications.

Motorola Moto G32 Price and Availability in India

The Motorola Moto G32 arrives in a single 4GB + 128GB memory configuration in India priced at ₹12,999. It can be purchased in either Mineral Grey or Satin Silver color options.

The device will go on sale from 12 PM on August 16. Buyers can avail of a ₹1,250 instant discount on HDFC Bank card transactions.

Motorola Moto G32 Specifications

The Motorola Moto G32 features a plastic body like most budget smartphones. It flaunts a 6.5-inch centered punch-hole display (LCD) with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and up to a 90Hz refresh rate. The panel has a 405 PPI and a 20:9 aspect ratio.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC paired with LPDDR4x RAM. It boots Android 12 and the brand promises Android 13 update and three years of security updates.

The handset houses a triple camera system on the rear comprising of a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit (also doubles as a depth sensor), and a 2MP macro snapper. On the front, it has a 16MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

The connectivity options on the phone include dual-SIM, 4G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS, and USB Type-C. It also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a dedicated MicroSD card slot, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Dolby Atmos-supported dual stereo speakers.

Finally, the Moto G32 is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 30W fast wired charging. It measures 161.78 x 73.84 x 8.49mm in dimensions and weighs 184g.

Samsung is all set to host its next Galaxy Unpacked event, where the South Korean giant will launch some of its premium products in the market, including next-gen foldable smartphones and next-gen smartwatches.

The event will take place tomorrow, i.e., on 10th August. It will start at 06:00 AM PT which is 09:00 AM ET, and 06:30 PM IST. It will be live streamed on the company’s own website as well as on its official YouTube account.

At the Galaxy Unpacked event, the company will unveil the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones. While the foldable smartphones are yet to go official, the company has already started taking reservations for the pre-orders of the devices in the lead-up to the event. It also offers $200 in credit for those who reserve the upcoming devices.

OPPO has recently launched the OPPO Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro, and Reno 8Z smartphones in the global market. All three devices carry support for 5G connectivity. According to a new report by Pricebaba, the Chinese manufacturer is gearing up to launch another Reno 8 series phone called the Reno 8 4G. The publication has leaked its render and key specifications.

OPPO Reno 8 4G specifications (rumored)

The Reno 8 4G will come with a 6.43-inch AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass protection. The punch-hole panel will house a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

The Reno 8 4G’s rear camera setup will be headlined by a 64-megapixel main camera. It will be coupled with a pair of 2-megapixel cameras for macro and depth shots. The device will come preloaded with Android 12 OS with ColorOS 12 UI on top.

The Snapdragon 680 chip will power the device. It will offer 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in storage. The device will pack a 4,500mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The device seems to be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

There is no word on the price of the OPPO Reno 8 4G. Shown above are the Dawnlight Gold and Starlight Black color variants of the smartphone. The device is expected to be released in select markets in the coming days. The publication claims that it will also be launched in India.
