iQOO is currently launching the iQOO 10 lineups exclusively in its home country, China. The launch event is confirmed to take place on July 19 in China at 7:30 PM local time. The highlight of the event is going to be the iQOO 10 Pro, which is expected to feature a particularly extreme 200W of fast charging. If the rumors come true, the iQOO 10 Pro will be the fastest charging commercially available smartphone.

It is expected to have a premium look. Renders reveal the smartphone will have a vegan leather finish on the back. The device will also come with impressive camera capabilities. It is likely to feature a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 sensor, as its main sensor which will be accompanied by a 50-megapixel sensor for the ultra-wide camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. It is said to feature 120W fast charging. Moreover, the device will have triple rear cameras but will only include a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens. iQOO 10 is said to have a larger battery than the pro model.

US needs another $3 billion to remove Huawei & ZTE gear from its networks

Ever since the FCC designated Huawei and ZTE as national threats to security, the US has been working on removing their telecom equipment from its network. However, it appears that the US telecom regulator would still need a few more billion dollars.

Huawei

According to a Reuters report, the Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission, Jessica Rosenworcel, stated in a letter to Senator Maria Cantwell that “To fund all reasonable and supported cost estimates the Reimbursement Program will require 4.98 billion US Dollars, reflecting a current shortfall of 3.08 billion US Dollars.” For those unaware, the country is looking to remove equipment from the two major telecommunication equipment makers after the FCC flagged them as threats to US national security.

Any telecom operators failing to remove networking gear from these Chinese brands would be removed from an 8.3 billion US Dollar government fund to buy new replacement equipment. But so far, the replacement policy has only managed to appropriate 1.9 billion US Dollars, which has raised concerns regarding how effectively the removal program is being carried out.

Huawei

Jessica Rosenworcel further added that “Absent an additional appropriation, the Commission will apply the prioritization scheme Congress specified.” She also said that the Commission will begin the reimbursement claims “as allocations are issued in the coming days.” At the moment, the companies are also not required to complete the rip and replace process of networking equipment until they receive their reimbursement.

Apple iPhone 14 Max reportedly facing supply chain issues

Apple recently began trial production of the upcoming iPhone 14 series, with plans to start mass production next month. However, some analysts believe the outlook is bleak. With manufacturing for the reported but unsubstantiated iPhone 14 Max model now said to be behind schedule, the upcoming iPhone might not even escape the material shortage due to increasing global inflation.

According to rumors, the iPhone 14 will have four different variants, much like the iPhone 13 did. However, it appears that there will be two large-sized models instead of just one, namely the iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max, making component security more difficult than in previous years. According to renowned display supply expert Ross Young, this requirement is why production is running behind schedule.

Young recently reported through a tweet (only available for super followers) that supplies of the iPhone 14 Max’s display panel are “still way behind through August,” while the Pro versions are unaffected. Young reports that supply levels are more than three times more than on the normal Max phones, and those displays appear to be in good condition.

iPhone 14 Pro

Notably, the standard iPhone 14 Max is slowing things down because it has a different display than the Pro model. Apple’s ProMotion, the company’s adjustable refresh rate technology, is used in the Pro models. This indicates that the iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, whilst the normal Max will remain at 60Hz. However, there isn’t an official delay for the iPhone 14 Max.

Apple has certainly seen several ups and downs throughout this journey of creating the next-gen iPhone. Henceforth, it appears that the tech giant had to make some adjustments in order to meet the deadline. Back in May, when Apple decided to use a more expensive front-facing camera than on previous smartphones, it was reported that the company was experiencing supply chain issues.

Apple’s rationale for producing two large-format variants (Max and Pro Max) is reportedly to boost its international sales in nations like China, where bigger-screen smartphones tend to dominate the market.

Elon Musk aims to block Twitter’s fast track trial request

Elon Musk has filed a new motion last week that aims on blocking Twitter‘s attempts at a fast track trial. This trial follows after the social media platform sued the billionaire for terminating the 44 billion US Dollar deal.

Elon Musk Featured

The Tesla CEO’s lawyers have filed papers with the Delaware Chancery Court. These documents stated that Twitter has made an “unjustifiable request” for an expedited trial after it turned a rushed merger into a trial in just two months. For those unaware, Elon Musk pulled out of the multi billion dollar merger deal after he claimed that Twitter lied about the “spam bot” issue as well as failed to provide accurate data regarding this matter.

Following this move from Musk, the popular microblogging website filed a lawsuit claiming that Elon violated the deal for the acquisition. Thus, the social media giant is now requesting the trial to begin in September since the merger agreement is set to terminate officially on October 25. In the filing, Musk stated that “Twitter’s sudden request for warp speed after two months of foot dragging and obfuscation is its latest tactic to shroud the truth about spam accounts long enough to railroad defendants into closing.”

Elon Musk

According to a Reuters report, “Musk’s lawyers argued the dispute over false and spam accounts is fundamental to Twitter’s value and extremely fact- and expert-intensive.” Furthermore, they have also claimed that it would also take a long while for discovery and requested that the trial take place sometime around or after February 13 of next year.

Apple adds Apple TV HD to the obsolete products list

Apple Inc. is known to keep track of the tech that the company considers obsolete. The list is called the “vintage” products list. This week, the new official addition to the list is the Apple TV HD which was first released in 2015. The device was deemed vintage on June 30 this year, but the public-facing list was recently updated.

According to MacRumors, the tech giant released an internal memo distributed to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers. The memo stated that the original iPad Pro and Apple TV HD with Siri will be added to the Vintage products list in the month of June. It is notable that both the products were launched in 2015.

Notably, a product becomes “vintage” after more than five years since Apple last distributed the product for sale. Vintage products were previously ineligible for service at Apple, but Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers now offer repairs for vintage products for up to an additional two years, subject to parts availability.

Apple-TV-HD-Siri-Remote-Without-Menu-Ring

When the Apple TV HD was first debuted in 2015, it came with a first-generation Siri Remote that lacked a white ring around the Menu button — only those that shipped with this ring-less remote are now deemed vintage. In 2017, Apple added a white ring to the Menu button to make it more visible when holding the remote.

Apple TV HD units that came with a Siri Remote with a white ring (which is still called the first-generation Siri Remote) or the second-generation Siri Remote (silver with a circular trackpad) were not recognized as vintage.

Apple TV 4K

The Apple TV HD (formerly known as the fourth-generation Apple TV) is still available for $149 through Apple. Since its debut over seven years ago, the tablet has gotten no hardware upgrades other than tweaks to the Siri Remote.

According to reports, a new Apple TV will be released later in 2022, with an A14 CPU and an additional 4GB of RAM.

Redmi K50i Roundup: Specs, Colors, Pricing & More

Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi K50i, its latest mid-ranger in the Indian market this week Wednesday at 12 PM New Delhi Time.

Redmi K50i Launch Date

The brand has been teasing the launch of the Redmi K50i on its official social media accounts for a while, and currently, with what is available online so far, we have rounded up all the details that you should know about the Redmi K50i before its official launch.

Redmi K50i Specifications

The Redmi K50i is essentially a rebranded Poco X4 GT (that is available globally) or a rebadged Redmi Note 11T Pro (that is sold exclusively in China) which both we saw launched earlier in the year 2022.

Rebranding aside, the Redmi K50i is a very solid handset powered by MediaTek’s popular Dimensity 8100 SoC, found on competing devices, like the Realme GT Neo 3. Performance-wise, the SoC has proven to be competitive, as in early benchmarks with the Redmi K50i, it scored higher than both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 devices, and the Apple A15 Bionic equipped smartphones in Antutu benchmark.

Powering the Redmi K50i is a 5080 mAh battery cell, with support for Xiaomi’s 67W fast wired charging solution, in which the 67W charger is included with the package. It will sport a 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS LCD screen with up to 144Hz refresh rate, up to 650 nits of peak brightness, and support for Dolby Vision content.

Cameras-wise, the Redmi K50i goes the conventional route with a triple camera setup at the rear and a selfie camera housed within the top centre punch hole in front of the display. The rear camera setup consists of a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and a 2MP macro snapper, while the front facing camera has a high resolution 20MP camera for selfies and video calls.
