Allleged OnePlus 10 renders leaked, lacks alert slider, Hasselblad branding

Last week, tipster Yogesh Brar teamed up with Onsitego to release the leaked renders of a OnePlus flagship, which may arrive in the market with the OnePlus 10T name. Now, the same tipster has collaborated with the publication My Smart Price to share fresh renders of another OnePlus phone that sports a design similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro. Since it has a familiar design, it could be the vanilla OnePlus 10 smartphone.

The leaked renders of the alleged OnePlus 10 show that it has a punch-hole display on the front. The rear design of the phone seems to be inspired by the OnePlus 10 Pro. The camera module, which fuses with the frame of the device, houses three cameras and an LED flash but lacks the Hasselblad branding. The handset also lacks an alert slider.

According to Brar, the rear camera setup of the device comprises a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro. On the front, it has a 16-megapixel selfie camera. It has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 360Hz, 10-bit color, HDR10+ support, and sRGB and P3 color gamut. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Plus chipset and has a 4,800mAh battery that supports 150W fast charging.

It will come in two LPPDR5 RAM + UFS 3.1 storage variants, such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. It will offer other features such as 2×2 MIMO, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, a USB-C port, and dual speakers. It will be available in black and white. The source also said that the device’s final design will be set by the end of this month and that it will go into production in July.

This device has inferior front and rear cameras as compared to the alleged OnePlus 10T. The rest of the specs seem to be identical on both devices. Readers should note that the final marketing names of both devices are yet to be confirmed.

Design

The Honor 70, the Pro, and the Pro Plus variants have the same design and they only differ in their color variants. The vanilla version, for example, comes with very original color options including special textures on the rear side, as well as the Pro Plus. But overall, the design scheme does not change between these three handsets. What changes are the dimensions, the thickness, and the weight. The vanilla version comes with a more compact design because it has a smaller display. Further, it is thinner and lighter than the Pro variants. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus have the same bigger dimensions and the same thicker body.

Display

All of these phones come with amazing displays and they are at the same level. They provide you with great OLED panels able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The color reproduction is very realistic, the blacks are very deep, and there is an in-display fingerprint reader on each of these phones. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus have exactly the same panel with a punch hole placed centrally, while the vanilla Honor 70 only differs because of a smaller display, but not so smaller. These handsets are equipped with great stereo speakers, but they do not offer a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Specs & Software

Among the most important difference between these three handsets, there is definitely the processor. The Honor 70 is considered a mid-ranger because it sports a Snapdragon 778G+ mobile platform built at 6 nm with a max frequency of 2.5 GHz. The Honor 70 Pro comes right after with a MediaTek Dimensity 8000 mobile platform running at a max frequency of 2.75 GHz. At last, the Honor 70 Pro Plus is the flagship because it sports the most powerful Mediatek chipset out there: the Dimensity 9000 built at 4 nm and running at a max frequency of 3.05 GHz. With the exception of the Pro Plus variant coming with up to 256 GB of internal storage, all the phones sport a max amount of storage of 512 GB, as well as 12 GB of RAM in the most advanced configurations. They run Android 12 customized by Magic UI 6.1.

Camera

All the phones of the trio come with a triple camera including a 54 MP main sensor and a 50 MP ultrawide lens. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus replace the useless 2 MP macro sensor of the vanilla version with an 8 MP telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom and OIS, that is the reason why they have better zoom capabilities. They also replace the 32 MP main camera of the vanilla version with a superior 50 MP snapper.

Battery

Despite the Honor 70 being the most affordable and even the thinnest handset of the trio, it is equipped with a bigger battery, with a capacity of 4800 mAh instead of the 4500 mAh capacity found on the remaining models. So it is able to provide a longer battery life on a single charge. On the other hand, the Pro and the Pro Plus are able to charge quicker thanks to 100W fast charging. All of these phones support reverse charging allowing you to use the phone as a power bank to charge other devices.

Price

The starting price of the Honor 70 in China roughly translates to €380/$395, the Honor 70 Pro starts from €520/$542 in its base configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage, and the Pro Plus starts from €600/$625 in the same configuration. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro+ only differ in the processor, while there are several other differences when it comes to the vanilla version. Which one would you pick?

Google Startups Accelerator aims to boost the number of Indian Women Founders

Google has launched an innovative program to assist female startups in India. The Google for Startups Accelerator-India Women Founders program aims to help women CEOs to address business challenges.

The new program will help business founders address issues like hiring, fundraising, and other important aspects of their businesses. Over the course of three months, up to 20 startups with a strong female presence will benefit from the program. The female-centric startups, including those in the MVP stage, will be benefited. The initiative fits into Google’s broader program to improve female representation in the digital workforce in India.

Google has continued to expand its interventions in providing cutting-edge manpower across all spheres of the digital economy. Some of the sub-themes to be touched on during the program include mentorship, hiring of manpower, capital, access to networks, and more. Google will also offer training on mobile platforms and technology. The program is expected to further expand the low representation of women in leading positions in startups in the subcontinent. Xiaomi 12 Ultra key specs tipped: SD8+ Gen 1, 67W fast charging & more

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is a long-rumored device that was initially expected to release alongside the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. After months of weight, we can finally expect the device to debut soon as it was recently spotted on China’s 3C certification website.

Now, ahead of its launch, tipster Yogesh Brar has revealed the key specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi flagship. Starting off with the display, the device will house a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED panel which will come with LTPO 2.0 technology and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the smartphone is said to house the recently announced Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. This new chipset is expected to provide better performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset as it is manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm node.

The tipster informs that the device will come with 8GB and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM options along with 256GB and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage options. For optics, we can expect a triple camera setup on the rear comprising of a 50-megapixel primary sensor (with OIS), paired with a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 48-megapixel periscopic telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. Other than that, the back will house a ToF sensor and a laser autofocus sensor. On the front, we can expect a 20-megapixel selfie snapper.

Apart from that, the device will feature a respectable 4,800mAh battery pack with 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. The fast-charging numbers of the device seem quite odd as the Xiaomi 12 Pro already offers 120W fast charging. We expect the confusion in this situation to clear up as the device visits more certification sites, so stay tuned for more.

Samsung Galaxy A13 5G is getting Android 12 update in the US

Samsung Galaxy A13 5G was launched recently as a mid-range offering in the US market. It squares up with the OnePlus Nord N200 5G and the Moto G Stylus 5G. Sources at SamMobile have hinted that the Galaxy A13 is getting the Android 12 update. The Android 12 update is reportedly being pushed to the carrier-locked version of the device for now. It is however probable that the update will also extend to the unlocked model.Samsung Galaxy A13 5G

There is no mention of the specific carrier-linked model for the Android 12 update. The new update for the budget Galaxy A13 5G is however expected to extend to all carrier versions in the US.

The Galaxy A13 5G is priced at $249.99 and there is the likelihood of another update to Android 13 next year. The availability of multiple Android upgrades for the Galaxy A13 5G is what puts it ahead of its competitors. Android 12 and One UI 4.1 are both on offer for the smartphone which sports a 6.5-inch display.

It is noted that the OnePlus Nord 200 5G also got the Android 12 update a few days before the Galaxy A13 stateside. However, it is highly improbable that the Nord 200 5G will be in line for the Android 13 update in 2023. As for the Moto G Stylus 5G, it is still running on Android 11. It will also most probably only get support for Android 12. The combination of the Android 12 update and the One UI 4.1 bring significant improvements to the Galaxy A13 5G. An array of improvements including in the Gallery menu, Samsung Health, Google Duo, and Smart Things Find, among others are available.

Apple sued by patent troll over Auto Unlock feature patent infringement

Apple smartwatches offer a unique functionality tied into the Apple ecosystem called Auto Unlock. Using this feature, Apple users can easily unlock their Macbooks and iPhones without the need for a password or Face ID. This feature was first announced in June 2016 by the company.

Apple Watch SE 2020
Apple Watch SE 2020

Now, according to a Patently Apple report, a company called SmartWatch MobileConcepts LLC is suing the Cupertino giant on grounds of patent infringement regarding the Auto Unlock feature. The patent the company SmartWatch MobileConcepts LLC is referring to is patent 10,362,480 titled “Systems, Methods, and Apparatuses for Enabling Wearable Device user Access to Secured Electronics Systems”. The patent was acquired by the firm from the members of the Ortiz family.

According to the report, this appears to be an instance of patent trolling to make the Cupertino giant cough up some cash via a settlement or a legal dispute. For those unaware, a patent troll is a derogatory term used to describe a business that utilizes patents and the court system to earn money.

However, things might not go as planned for SmartWatch MobileConcepts LLC as the above-mentioned patent was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on August 11, 2016, whereas, Apple announced this feature during WWDC 2016 which ran between June 13 to June 17, almost two months before the patent was filed. It remains to be seen how the court will decide upon this matter, so stay tuned for more updates.

Connectivity options include WiFi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI 2.1, USB 2.0, and  3.5mm headphone jack. Finally, it boots MIUI for TV based on Android with support for XiaoAI virtual assistant and leading Chinese streaming apps.

Since the Xiaomi Box 4S Max runs software designed for China, it would be of little use if imported.

LG Display wants to supply microOLED panels for Apple’s MR/AR headset

Recently, we have heard a lot of rumors about Apple working on a mixed reality headset, which is expected to combine both AR and VR tech into a single device. While the details about it are still short, a new report is here to tell us which company could produce the displays for the rumored headsets.

The Elec, citing sources, has reported that LG Display is planning on developing and manufacturing a MicroOLED panel to supply to Apple for its mixed reality (MR) device. The Korean tech giant is expected to order deposition equipment to make MicroOLED from Sunic System.

Apple might use Sony‘s MicroOLED panel for the display of its first MR gadget, while LG Display will provide the outer screen, or an ‘indicator,’ which will be a normal OLED panel, as per the report. The new Apple MR headset is likely to be released in the first half of next year.

Apparently, LG Display is aiming to provide the MicroOLED panel for Apple’s next-generation MR headset. That’s quite optimistic, seeing that the first-gen MR headset is still just a rumor.

Apple is likely to switch to LG Display as the Japanese tech giant could be a rival in the MR space because it also sells PlayStation game consoles, which go hand-in-hand with virtual reality devices, states the report.

If you are unversed with the term MicroOLED, some explanation might be in order. MicroOLED is somewhat similar to typical OLED. However, the former mounts the OLED on a silicon substrate, whereas the latter mounts them on glasses.

This technology is also known as OLED on Silicon or OLEDoS and is projected to be used more frequently in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality products.
