In response to the Xiaomi TV screen falling off, the company has announced a new self test application in China for its smart TV. This new app will help notify users if their Xiaomi TV is at risk of having its panel falling apart.
The Chinese tech giant released the new EA70 Self Check application in China last weekend. For those unaware, we had reported on two incidents in which smart TVs from the brand had their display panel fall off. The first incident was at a firm’s reception area and the second was at a user’s home. In both cases, the screen fell off without any external forces.
Xiaomi had initially stated that these two accidents were isolated incidents and were rare cases. But now, the brand came forward and stated that two batches with a production date between February 14th and March 20th faced a defect. This has prompted it to launch the self check app on the App Store, which will help users check if their smart TV are in any risk of falling apart.
Furthermore, the company also announced that it will be providing free on site maintenance service for EA70 TVs that are under the exclusive service plan. Users can also contact the official customer support to make an appointment for on site maintenance. It is even offering an additional two year extended warranty service for EA70 TVs as well.
Earlier today (6th June 2022), POCO has just announced the new Head for the Indian market. The company has appointed Himanshu Tandon as the POCO India Head ahead of its plans on growing its presence in the region.
Not just 1 but 3 important announcements!
Congratulations Himanshu Tandon (@Himanshu__T) on getting promoted as India Head for POCO.
In a statement shared via a Tweet, the Chinese smartphone maker stated that “Strengthening Poco’s vision in the country, Himanshu has been a part of founding team of POCO in India and has helped scale the brand over the years.” Interestingly, this news also follows soon after Xiaomi India had also shuffled its top executives in the region, with Alvin Tse now appointed as the General Manager in the region.
Furthermore, the brand also announced that it would be expanding its service center and after sales support in India. It will be opening more than 2,000 service centers across the country. Notably, it also added that the company will be making an announcement later today at 4 pm IST. While its unknown what this announcement is for, it could likely be related to the new entry level budget smartphone, the POCO C40. So stick around, as we will be covering the event if there are any notable launches or announcements.
Do you remember the DOOGEE S98? The rugged phone with a watch on the back. DOOGEE recently launched their upgraded version: S98 Pro. The S98 Pro is not a performance upgrade like replacing a better processor, but a functional upgrade. And I believe this strategy will be the new trend for rugged phones this year.
The DOOGEE S98 Pro comes in the same box as the S98, with the phone’s model and storage space written in the lower right corner. Open the lid of the package, the accessories in the package are our old friends. DOOGEE S98 Pro comes in a box with a white pry bar, 33w charger, and charging cable. It also contains instructions manual, and an extra film, this time with some tools for the film. There is also a phone case. Instead of this case to protect your rugged phone, it is used to decorate your phone.
DOOGEE calls this case the “Alien-inspired case”, which makes the S98 Pro look like an alien from the movie. Of course, if you don’t like the adorable alien, you can take off the case. The back of the S98 Pro is almost the same as the Doogee S98, also with a leather-like design. The biggest difference is still in the lens module part, where the watch-like screen in the middle is replaced by a sensor. This sensor is the biggest upgrade of this Pro version, and we will come back to this sensor in detail later. The S98 Pro also has NFC and custom buttons, and the SIM Card Tray can be fitted with two SIM cards and a Macro SD card, so at least in terms of design, the Pro version is not much changed.
The S98 Pro uses an FHD+ LCD screen. This screen has the same specs as the standard version except the peak brightness is 200nit higher than the standard version. The protective glass of Corning Gorilla plus IP68 and IP69K certifications allow you to use it in any harsh outdoor environment. One of the advantages I like about the rugged phone is that you can clean the phone with water when it gets dirty, so you never have to worry about damaging the phone by getting water in it.
What is the interesting feature that we talked about at the beginning? It’s this new thermal imaging camera. This sensor in the middle of the two cameras is a real thermal imaging sensor, which can capture real infrared radiation images.
You may have seen a similar filter on Tiktok, but that is fake, and this is real. As soon as you turn on InfiRay, you can see the IR image. It is important to know that buying a thermal imaging camera alone may cost several hundred dollars, which is a considerable amount of money. The most direct way to use it is to use it as a night vision camera.
It is easier to find nearby creatures in the dark compared to Night vision Camera. Or when repairing electronic equipment can be used to judge where the problem is coming from. DOOGEE’s thermal imaging camera also has MIX mode, which allows you to mix RGB images and IR images to make it easier to tell what the subject is. I would like to explain that it is impossible to see people behind walls with thermal imaging cameras in movies or games. In fact, thermal imaging can’t even see through paper or glass, so don’t worry about the privacy of others.
The left and right cameras are the 20MP Night vision camera and the 48MP main camera. Although there is no more Ultra-wide camera, the performance of the main camera is even better. Dynamic range performance is good. Thanks to the sharpening algorithm, the photos look relatively clear. Next you can enjoy the Sample photos taken with S98 Pro.

The DOOGEE S98 Pro comes with the MediaTek Helio G96 processor. The standard version of the S98 also uses this processor. According to the results of Benchmark Tests, the Antutu Bench score is 330,000 and the 3DMark score is close to 1200. Game performance is the same as the standard version, mainstream light load games stable at 40fps is no problem.
The 33w wired charging power and 15w wireless charging are also standard on DOOGEE’s flagship phones. 6000mAh battery has not been upgraded, but it can also support you for two to three days without charging.
The S98 is a good rugged phone, which has managed to attract many people with its novel appearance. The S98 Pro takes it to the next level and does even better in terms of functionality. That thermal imaging camera I’m sure will become a handy tool for many people working outdoors.
Google’s Pixel 7 series is expected to launch in October. The phones’ prototypes have already been leaked in live images and videos online ahead of the launch. It has also been revealed that forthcoming Pixel phones will sport the same display as their predecessor. Now a developer revealed via Twitter that he has been able to use Pixel 7 Pro’s display drivers on Pixel 6 Pro to access a hidden Android 13 screen resolution setting.
By using the Pixel 7 Pro's display driver on the Pixel 6 Pro, Android 13's screen resolution setting becomes available, and the resolution can be changed to 1080p.
As you can see in the video, The Pixel 6 Pro‘s screen resolution can be adjusted to 1080p by using the Pixel 7 Pro‘s display driver. This confirms the rumors of the Pixel 7 series using the same display as the Pixel 6 series. Moreover, it implies that the Pixel 7 Pro’s display will be 1440p and that it can also be changed to 1080p. On the contrary, Pixel 6 Pro does not have such a feature but it’s possible that Google may introduce this with the Android 13 Update.
The developer also stated that it’s an actual resolution with specific timings defined in the driver and in addition to 1080p, it also supports 1080p30Hz.
Resolution adjustment can be useful while gaming. Moreover, it takes less CPU/GPU power to render fewer pixels, which extends battery life. The visual difference between 1080p and 1440p is negligible, however, the graphic performance is much better in the 1440p resolution.
We already know that Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be powered by the next-generation Tensor 2 manufactured by Samsung. The Pixel 7 series seems to sport a similar design to the Pixel 6, it will have the same visor-like camera module with the Pixel 7 Pro having a triple camera setup. Both the devices will likely run Android 13 out of the box.
Other hardware specifications of the smartphones are yet to be known. However, given the rate of leaks, we’ll soon know more about both the phones.

Meizu, a China-based company known for making smartphones, has today announced that its upcoming event named “Meizu New Summer Adventure” will be live-streamed. The event is set to take place at 7:30 PM local time in China on 9th June.
In the new teaser poster shared by the company, it has confirmed that the device getting launched at the event in a handheld gaming console under its PANDAER brand.
The upcoming gaming console from the company under the PANDAER brand will be launched in collaboration with AYANEO. It is also claimed to be the world’s first ultra-thin OLED handheld running the Windows operating system.
Meizu has also teased the product by revealing a part of the handheld console in the teaser poster. In terms of design, the upcoming product looks similar to the Nintendo Switch with a screen in the middle and control handles on the sides.
It’s likely that the control handles won’t be detachable. While the device’s specifications have not been revealed yet, it is speculated that the gaming console could be a rebranded version of the AYANEO Next series product.
The device is likely to come with a 7-inch OLED display and could be powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 5825U processor, coupled with 16GB or 32GB LPDDR4x RAM and 1TB or 2TB NVMe solid-state drive. Samsung is planning on setting up a new production line in its home market of South Korea which will focus on producing larger OLED panels that will be used in tablets and notebooks. Apparently, these displays will then be supplied to Apple.
According to TheElec, the South Korean company will be supplying OLED screens from this site to the Cupertino based giant for its next gen iPads and MacBooks. Notably, this news is in line with a previous report, which suggested that the iPad Pro will finally be moving to support OLED displays in 2024. Although, Samsung has initially believed to make these display panels from one of its existing lines.
But now, the new report suggests that the company’s upcoming production line will be located at a different factory and will be capable of making OLED displays for notebooks. In other words, future MacBook Pro’s display will be an OLED panel that is supplied by Samsung. This model is rumored to launch sometime by 2025 or later. Recently, Apple has been shifting its iPad and MacBook lineup to feature mini LED screens.
So, the OLED will be the next step after this transition. For those unaware, OLED panels feature self emitting pixels and do not require backlighting like the mini LED panels. Meaning, this would help in improving contrast ratio and enables better battery life on future iPad and MacBook models. As of right now, the latest iPhone and Apple Watch lineup already uses OLED panels. So it was only a matter of time till other products also feature the same display tech.

Samsung has been dominating the foldable smartphone market with multiple devices already available for purchase. The South Korean giant has decided to double down on this new form factor to increase its lead in the market.
While the company is gearing up to launch the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones in the market, a new report hints that Samsung could also introduce a cheaper foldable smartphone in the coming years.
As per the report coming from tipster @chunvn8888 on Twitter, Samsung is working on a cheaper foldable smartphone that will be launched in the market as a part of the company’s Galaxy A-series. However, the smartphone isn’t getting launched anytime soon and is speculated to go official sometime in 2024 or 2025.
With new models of the foldable smartphone getting launched, the pricing is gradually decreasing and in a couple of years, it will be possible for Samsung to introduce a budget foldable smartphone in the market.
It remains to be seen which form factor the South Korean giant goes with for the Galaxy A-series foldable device — book-like fold found on the Galaxy Z Fold lineup or the clamshell fold found on the Galaxy Z Flip series.
The demand for foldable smartphones has been steeply rising. A report from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) reveals that the shipment of foldable smartphones in the first quarter of this year increased by 571 percent year-on-year with 2.22 million units shipped and Samsung continues to dominate the market with 74 percent market share.
In recent years, Vivo has focused a lot on boosting the charging speed of its phones. The company recently launched the iQOO 9 which features a 120W fast charging speed and can be recharged fully from 0 to 100% in just about 18 minutes. But it seems like 120W wasn’t enough for the company, there are now rumors that the upcoming Vivo iQOO 10 Pro will come with absolutely crazy 200W Wired and 65W Wireless Fast Charging Support.
With a post on the Chinese blogging site Weibo, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed some interesting details about the charging speed of the forthcoming iQOO flagship. According to the tipster, iQOO 10 Pro will come with 200W fast wired charging and an adapter with 20V/10A support. The charger is said to have model number V200100L0B0-CN.
IQOO 9 PRO
The tipster further revealed that the handset will have 65W fast wireless charging. All in all, the phone is going to push wired and wireless charging speeds to a limit. As mentioned above, its predecessor came with 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging on top.
The battery capacity of the smartphone is yet to be known, we expect it to feature a 4000mAh that will charge 100% in around 10-12 minutes. However, don’t expect the phone to last very long because a fast-charging phone’s battery threatens to drain before the end of the day. Also, be ready to see a particularly large charging brick with the phone.
Now that smartphone brands have normalized super-fast charging, it’s worth asking whether it’s safe or not. We already know that fast charging comes with an increased risk of overheating and corresponding hazards. Despite all the additional safety mechanisms implemented, the risk still persists.
TCL Huaxing, a China-based manufacturer, has announced its two new curved screen technologies which include waterfall screen hyperbolic technology and equal-gauss four-curved surface technology.
In the Waterfall Screen Hyperbolic Technology, the curved screen with a certain curvature mainly realizes the screen bending through the OLED panel. It is increased to nearly 90-degree to form a waterfall-like bend. It is said to visually hide the middle frame of the phone and the horizontal content will no longer be subject to any display restrictions.
The company adds that the bilateral curvature of the screen can reach 88-degree. Also, unlike the conventional 60-degree hyperbolic screen, the side curvature of this one can reach nearly 90-degree.
On the other hand, the four-curved technology is based on hyperboloid technology, which adds curved glass at the upper and lower ends on the basis of the curvature of the left and right screens of the hyperboloid screen.
It comes with the advantage of a higher appearance, better visual effect, and better hand experience. The curved design of the radian is conducive to holding and helps to improve the experience of horizontal cross-screen operation under large-size screens.
The company abandons the traditional four-curved surface design with large rounded corners and achieves the effect of the same width of the front view frame through the four-corner spherical design and reduces the corner radius from 10mm to 5mm.
TCL Huaxing completed the technical development of the 88-degree waterfall screen in the month of March this year. Using simulation and experiments, further advanced verification of materials and processes has been carried out to achieve the industry’s first WQHD LTPO, 88-degree waterfall screen mass production capacity.
boAt has just launched a new smartwatch for the Indian market. It is the new Wave Connect, which is listed on Flipkart and offers various features that are common with modern wearables. So lets have a look.

It offers various health related sensors like the heart rate sensor, an SpO2 blood oxygen tracker, and even stress level tracker as well. As the name suggests the Wave Connect also offers Bluetooth Calling, which lets users make and receive calls directly from their smartwatch. This feature is further supplemented by a quick access dial pad and the option to save up to 20 contacts.
The new smartwatch also arrives with support for more than 60 sports modes. This includes walking, running, cycling, and other forms of physical activities. The new boAt Wave Connect is priced at 2,499 INR (roughly 32 US Dollars) and is available in multiple color options, namely Charcoal Black, Deep Blue, and Cool Gray. Unisoc, a China-based chip manufacturer, has been able to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the global chip shortage and is now aiming to replace MediaTek in the budget smartphones segment as the Taiwan-based company is focusing on capturing the premium market.
With such a rise, the company also goes through stricter scrutiny. While some of the company’s older chips were marked as a threat vector, now another vulnerability has been found that explicitly affects a Unisoc chip found in three Motorola devices.
According to the report from Checkpoint Research, the Unisoc Tiger T700 chip, which powers the Motorola Moto G20, E30, and E40 smartphones, has been found to have a vulnerability when the cellular modem attempts to connect to an LTE network.
It basically omits the check to make sure that the modem’s connection handler is reading a valid IMSI or similar subscriber ID. When the handler reads a zero-digit field, a stack overflow occurs which can be exploited for a denial of service attack or for remote code execution, blocking the user from the LTE network.
Checkpoint Research notified Unisoc about this last month and the company evaluated it to be of critical risk with a 9.4 out of 10 ratings and promptly patched the issue. Google may pass the patch onto users soon, likely with the new Android security bulletin.
