Samsung is hyping the credentials of its 200MP HP1 sensor with a video showing some of the sensor’s capabilities. The video shows that the new sensor can preserve a great deal of detail. We are still awaiting the first smartphone to debut the Samsung 200MP sensor.

Windows 11 Android app support to soon expand to these countries

Last year, Microsoft announced Windows Subsystem for Android which will allow Android apps to run on Windows 11. The service has been made available to Windows users in the United States, and now, Microsoft has announced that the service will extend to more regions before the end of 2022.

Microsoft

These regions will include France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom (Via XDA Developers). For those unaware, this feature was announced in June 2021 and made its way to the live version of Windows earlier this year. Microsoft has partnered with Amazon for this service and provides the Android apps via the Amazon Appstore on Windows 11.

If you live outside of these above-mentioned regions and can’t wait for the update to make its way to your country, you can easily access the feature from the Microsoft store after changing your region settings in Windows. The more challenging part is getting access to the apps themselves as Amazon Appstore currently works only with US-based Amazon accounts. There is still a way to sideload the Android apps on Windows 11, however, it would require a bit of tinkering and technical know-how.

Now, designer Ian Zelbo has provided new High resolution renders of the iPhone 14 Pro in multiple colors like purple, silver, graphite, and gold (via).

Apart from Gold, the most eye-catching render is the gorgeous purple color which is said to be the special color coming for the iPhone 14 Pro this time around. There might be more “special color” options planned for the device, however, the purple color will likely not be made available for the vanilla iPhone 14 model. Taiwan cracksdown on Chinese firms that were allegedly poaching chip engineers

After multiple sanctions from the US barring Chinese tech giants like Huawei from accessing advanced semi-conductors from manufacturers like TSMC, China has started heavily investing in domestic solutions for its semi-conductor needs.

Now, in a recent development, Taiwan authorities have raided ten Chinese companies suspected of illegally poaching chip engineers and other tech talents (via Reuters). Taiwan, which is the home to the world’s largest manufacturer of advanced semi-conductor, TSMC, has recently been proactive in countering illegal poaching efforts by Chinese companies that might threaten Tawain’s global semiconductor dominance.

The Investigation Bureau said it raided ten Chinese companies or their R&D centers which operate in Taiwan without approval earlier this week. It said nearly 70 people have been summoned for questioning in a joint crackdown across several cities including the capital Taipei and the island’s semiconductor hub, Hsinchu.

The bureau has issued a statement saying “The illegal poaching of Taiwan’s high-tech talent by Chinese companies has badly impacted our international competitiveness and endangered our national security,” the bureau added that technology is vital to Taiwan’s security and has urged people to “stay high on alert” for such Chinese activities.

The companies currently under investigation have not been named, but the bureau has informed that it includes integrated circuit design firms and electronics parts makers.

Realme GT Neo 3 Naruto Edition: Unboxing & First Impressions

Naruto is one of my favorite Japanese mangas, which I believe has touched countless fans like me in the past 2 decades. Although the television series ended in 2017, we still are able to see its energy spreading throughout the world with plenty of Naruto-related merchandise. And today I’m very excited to introduce you guys to the first Naruto special edition smartphone brought by Realme, the Realme GT Neo 3 Naruto. Actually, it’s not the first anime-themed smartphone launched by the brand. The first one was the Realme GT Neo 2 Dragonball Z Edition (Unboxing), and if you’re interested, you can click the card at the corner and watch our unboxing video. But trust me, the second collaboration with Naruto is more attractive for fans.

Well, follow our boxing and take a look at the latest Naruto edition.

The first sight of the packaging is enough for us to get excited and start expecting more. It’s actually a summoning scroll! In the series, it’s one of the most important pieces of equipment in a ninja’s arsenal. Distinguished by the color, it seems to be the summoning scroll that Naruto carried when he appeared in the battle against Pain. And that scene is also one of my favorite moments in the series. So of course, this scroll carries a lot of fans’ memories from the series, and it’s also very collectible.

The scroll is made of leather-like material and feels very delicate to touch. It’s surprisingly unfoldable, but there weren’t any ninja techniques stored inside, nor a summoning contract between Naruto and Bunta.

Once you open the cover from one side of the scroll, you will see a semi-cylindrical drawer, which is in a dark green color widely seen on the Ninja flak jacket. Pull it out, and you will see the cover with the emblem of the Uzumaki Clan, which is also the Naruto’s clan symbol on the back of his jacket. At the bottom, there’s the cooperation logo of Realme and Naruto Shippuden.

And we found another small thoughtful accessory inside, which is the sim-card pin. It’s made into the symbol of the leaf village. Remove the cover panel, the phone will appear in front of you. When you turn it over, the design on the back clearly tells us that this is a complete Naruto-custom edition. It simulates the style of Naruto’s jacket from the Shippuden series, divided into the upper matte black and lower bright orange parts. At the center, there’s again the symbol of the Uzumaki clan. Compared to the standard version of the Realme GT Neo 3, the Naruto edition adds a metal-like panel under the camera module. I believe that fans must be very familiar with it, which is the Leaf Village ninjas’ forehead protector. It made me think that if I put a scratch in the middle, it would become a custom version of Akatsuki. Okay, just kidding.

And if you look closer, you will find another iconic detail of Naruto, which is the whisker-like scars on Naruto’s cheeks. Well, they were not actual scars, but marks influenced by the Bijuu’s presence.

Now let’s put the phone aside, as we’ll show you the details of its customization in the software later. At the bottom of the drawer, there’s still a charging cable, a protective case, and a 160W fast charger. But only the charger brick got customized into the same Naruto style of the phone. Actually, there are several customized phone cases released with the Naruto phone, but now it seems that they’re not included and need to be purchased separately.

Now let’s check out what we got in the software. I’m glad to see that the limited edition supports multiple languages when setting up the phone for the first time. Although we have no idea whether the limited edition is going to be officially released in the global market, thankfully you still can get more language options no matter where you buy it from. Google apps are not pre-installed on the phone, but you can still install most Google apps by yourself.

The limited phone starts with a Naruto UI theme with plenty of customized app icons. And there are three customized wallpapers as options. Another unique detail that differentiates from the standard version is the charging effect. When activating 150W fast charging with the included charger, the circular diagram of the five basic natures will show up and tell you how much power is collected back.

Apart from the details that we showed you above, there are no other customizations that we could find. Actually, we still hope to see more surprises on this limited edition. So hopefully the brand can keep working on the software for fans.

The customized edition no doubt is the brand’s most impressive special edition model with a strong Naruto imprint. No matter, from the scroll packaging or for the phone itself, we can feel that they are pretty serious about the co-branded model.

And don’t forget, the whole story did start with stealing a forbidden scroll.

Then from the scroll to the family badge, to the leaf village symbol, and to the cheeks’ mark, the phone seems to try and narrate the story of Naruto, one of the most likable characters in anime history. And as we end this video, we would like to quote Naruto’s most famous dialogue!

“My future dream is to be the greatest Hokage!”

So that’s all we want to share about the Naruto edition of the Realme GT Neo 3, and if you want to learn more about the phone, please check out the previous review of the GT Neo 3 Standard version.

The specifications of the smartphone are the same as the Vanilla Realme GT Neo 3 launched last month but the design is fresh and interesting.

The GT Neo 3 Naruto edition sports design elements that match the appearance of the popular Anime Character “Naruto Shippuden”. The smartphone comes in orange color with a black partition matching the iconic jumpsuit of Naruto. The handset has a large camera island with a metallic grey hue that stretches the entire width. But wait, we haven’t talked about the coolest part yet! The Realme GT Neo 3 Naruto edition comes with a Naruto Scroll bag. The bag resembles the Sage Scroll that Naruto carries around. The Naruto Scroll bag can even be opened, however, we are unsure whether it can be used as a small duffle bag for carrying things or it’s just for show.

Samsung to exit feature phone segment in India to focus on smartphones worth ₹15,000 and above

Samsung, the world’s smartphone manufacturer and a dominating player in the Indian smartphone market, is planning to gradually exit the high volume but low-value feature phone business in India.

A new report from Economic Times, citing people aware of the development, claims that the last batch of Samsung feature phones for the Indian market is set to be manufactured by its partner Dixon by the end of this year.

Samsung is among the two major MNCs contributing to the Indian government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The report adds that the company is mandated to get sops only on the production of handsets worth over ₹15,000 factor price.

The South Korean giant will exit the low-value feature phone business in India to instead focus on the mid-range, upper or premium mid-range, and premium smartphones. Basically, it is aiming at devices costing ₹15,000 (~$193) or more.

Feature phone shipments in the Indian market declined by 39 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of this year. This resulted from multiple factors, including supply chain issues and low demand due to high retail inflation.

Samsung was the leading brand in the feature phone segment in the Indian market but has now fallen to the third spot with a 12 percent market share. Itel is now leading the market with a 21 percent market share, and Lava grabs the second position with 20 percent share.
