Motorola has quietly unveiled the Moto G52j, a mid-range 5G smartphone. To recall, the handset was recently spotted in Geekbench’s database, and it has now gone official in Japan. One of the major attractions of the G52j is that it is an IP68 rated dustproof and water-resistant device. Other exciting features of the phone include a 120Hz display and a Snapdragon 6-series 5G chipset.

Moto G52j specifications and features

The Moto G52j has a 6.8-inch LCD panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels, a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display punch-hole has a 13-megapixel selfie camera.

The rear camera module of the device has a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel superwide lens with a 118-degree FOV, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The device is capable of shooting up to 60fps 1080p videos and 120fps HD slow-motion videos.

The Snapdragon 695 chipset is present under the hood of the Moto G52j. The device includes 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in storage. It has a 5,000mAh battery that carries support for 15W TurboPower charging.

The device runs on the Android 11 OS with My UX on top. When it comes to connectivity, it offers features like nano-SIM / e-SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS, and a USB-C port. It carries support for face unlock and comes equipped with a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

Moto G52j price and availability

The Moto G52j is priced at JPY 39,800 (~$310) in Japan. It comes in Ink Black and Pearl White colors. It is unclear whether the Lenovo-owned brand will be releasing the G52j in markets outside Japan.

A recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) document indicates that the Garmin Forerunner 255 and 955 series has scaled its certification process. The FCC certification for the pair of Garmin smartwatches points to an imminent release.

Speculations are rife that the Garmin 255 and Garmin 955 series could include Special Music variants when they are launched next month. The FCC certification is an integral component in the trajectory of the release of such products in the United States. The model numbers of the upcoming smartwatches are IPH-04244, IPH-A4308, and IPH-04308. There are a few details that could be culled from the FCC document about the three smartwatches. However, it could indicate that the three models will be launched in the US. A similar model is listing for the three Garmin models from the Singapore Telecom Licensing System.

Previous leaks have connected the Forerunner 955 series with the model number A04244. The Forerunner 955 supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Although Garmin has not provided any official confirmation for the impending releases, the details may come soon. Garmin will also reportedly release the Forerunner 255 Music and Forerunner 255s Music models, with music functions like playback.

The finer details of the raft of possible Garmin smartwatches are still lacking. We are still in the realm of speculations for most of the details about the devices. The pricing information for the Garmin Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 255 are yet to be clarified.

Apple AirPods’ Amber Alert allegedly damages teenager’s hearing & he’s suing

A lawsuit has been instituted by the parents of a Texas teenager who was alleged to have been injured by a pair of Apple Airpods. The 12-year-old boy whose identity is concealed was reported to have had his eardrums ruptured when a loud Amber Alert was received in his Airpods. Amber Alerts are automatically sent to smartphones alerting residents of a possible child abduction emergency.

The incident occurred in 2020 when the boy was watching a Netflix movie on his iPhone while using AirPods Pro. The Amber Alert was a high-pitched sound that reportedly damaged his eardrums. The court documents detail how the sound tore apart the boy’s eardrums, and damaged his cochlea, leading to permanent hearing loss in one ear. The boy is referred to as B. G. in the court papers and he has suffered from several health conditions since then.

The lawsuit claims that the boy’s injuries were a result of a defective AirPods that couldn’t automatically lower the volume for alerts. It also claims that Apple did not issue any warning to users of the AirPods about the potential for hearing loss or damage. There had been several reports from AirPods users that Amber Alerts were known to be very loud. This was due to the Alert not equalizing with the prevailing audio levels.

The plaintiff is demanding damages from Apple, among several other prayers. They claimed that the behavior of Apple was not acceptable and the lawsuit should serve as a deterrent to others. It is unclear when the lawsuit was instituted and the stage it has gotten to. Apple has not made any statement yet concerning the lawsuit.

Samsung Galaxy A22 One UI 4.1 is now rolling out

The Samsung Galaxy A22, which launched back in June 2021 has finally received the Android 12-based One UI 4.1 update. The new update brings along a refreshed UI, new features, and new privacy and security-focused tools.

According to a SamMobiles report, the Galaxy A22’s latest update with firmware version A225FXXU3BVD8 brings the April 2022 level security which fixes around 88 security vulnerabilities.

Other than that, the update brings a revamped, Material You-based UI through which the user can apply any theme color to the UI based on their wallpaper. One UI 4.1 also features new widgets and multiple dark modes to choose from. One of the most notable new features coming with Android 12 is the security and privacy-related changes that now let users know when their camera and microphone are active through a prompt. Additionally, users now also get a toggle to enable or disable camera and microphone access on a system-wide level right from the quick settings shade.

Samsung is rolling out the update in badges so users will likely receive it in the coming days. If you want to check the availability of the Android 12 update for your device, you can do so by navigating to Settings » Software update on your phone and then tapping on Download and install.

Sony is releasing three new PS5 covers next month, as previously announced in 2021. At the end of 2021, Sony announced its plans to begin producing PS5 plates in five new color variants. It followed it up with the sale of PS5 consoles with Midnight Black and Cosmic Red plates. The three other color variants – Nova Pink, Galactic Purple, and Starlight Blue plates were to debut by mid-2022. Sony has now released these three outstanding color plates for the PS5. The three new plates are available for pre-order from customers in select jurisdictions.

Customers in the US, UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France can pre-order via the PlayStation Direct website. June 17 is the scheduled date for the general availability of the new PS5 covers. Sony says the new Console covers are easy to fit on the device after removing the original cover.

In a related development, a new PlayStation 5 (PS5) console has been spotted in Sony’s home turf of Japan ahead of scheduled updates to the current PS5 hardware. The new hardware is going through the certification paces in Japan and just got the construction design certification.

There are indications that the new revision of the Sony PS5 is a CFI-1200 series model with a piece of updated radio equipment. The radio equipment in the allegedly refreshed PS5 could mean a lower cost for the PS5 due to its choice of cheaper components. The refreshed PS5 could also provide more efficient use of existing components. Even though it’s a faint possibility, a PS5 Pro model could be in the pipeline. However, the global chip shortage may prevent this possibility. The CF-1200 series, therefore, remains the likely minor upgrades expected for the PS5.

Lenovo YOGA Air 14c 2-in-1 laptop with stylus support officially teased

The Chinese electronics manufacturer Lenovo has just teased a new notebook in their YOGA range dubbed the YOGA Air 14c.

According to the official teaser, the 2-in-1 laptop will come with narrow bezels and a refined B&W quad-speaker system. The teaser also reveals an ultra-slim body and stylus support.

Other than that, previous rumors regarding the device state that the YOGA Air 14c will come equipped with an OLED screen, which could have a 16:10 aspect ratio. As mentioned above, the notebook will have touch and stylus support. Considering the previous-gen YOGA Air 13s which only weighs only 984g, the upcoming YOGA Air 14c is also expected to be super light.

Other than that, there is no information available on the upcoming laptop yet. However, going by the sleek profile of the notebook, it could feature something like an Intel Core i7-1260P processor in its high-end configuration.

This particular processor has 12 cores and 16 threads. 4 of these cores are performance cores and the remaining eight are efficiency cores. The CPU comes with a turbo clock of 4.70Ghz and features an 18MB Cache. The processor is also pretty power efficient with a base power draw of 28W and a maximum power draw of 64W.

The centre of the driver is made up of LCP material whereas the edge is made of TPU.

The mBlu Lifeme offers 30dB active noise reduction and features intelligent ENC technology for clear and audible quality on calls. They come with dual microphones. The audio device supports game mode and low latency of 50ms. They also support the Flyme feature and the earbuds can be connected with a paired smartphone instantly once the case is opened.

The mBlu Lifeme TWS earphones are backed by a 520mAh battery unit with each earbud claimed to offer up to 6.5 hours of battery life and 30 hours with the charging case. The device supports both wired as well as wireless charging.

The mBlu Lifeme TWS earphones are priced at Yuan 219 (~$32.41). The audio device is offered in a White colour option and it will go on sale from May 20th.

Chinese tipster Bald Panda has leaked the launch date of the Realme Pad 5G tablet. The tipster says the flagship Realme tablet will launch alongside the Realme Power Bank Pro on May 26. The Realme Pad 5G is the company’s most ambitious tablet yet while the new anime-themed power bank will support 33W charging.

The Realme Pad 5G surfaced in the rumor mills last week when it was speculated that its launch was imminent. The Realme Pad 5G is slightly more endowed than its predecessors, the Realme Pad and the Realme Pad Mini. As per the leaks relating to the Realme Power Bank 3 Pro, its specs are trickling in gradually. The new power bank will be Naruto-branded although its capacity is not yet known.

Realme has put a teaser for the Realme Pad 5G via its official Weibo page indicating that this will a pretty powerful tablet at the same price as its predecessor. It is unclear whether indeed the Realme Pad 5G will be exactly as priced as the Realme Pad, but it comes with some improvements. The Realme Pad 5G will come with hardware that competes with the very successful Xiaomi Pad 5. It offers a Snapdragon 870 chipset and a 2.5K LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Realme Pad 5G comes with an 8,360mAh battery and stylus support. The Realme Pad 5G will be priced around $300, as per a previous leak.

There has not been any confirmation yet from Realme on the leaked launch date of the two devices. However, we expect more details to become available as we inch closer to May 26.

Last month, Huawei launched the Mate Xs 2 foldable smartphone in the Chinese market, and now, the brand has finally debuted the premium foldable in the Global market.

Design & Display

The Huawei Mate Xs 2 has an outward folding “Falcon Wing” design. While folded, the display stays in place firmly in place using a latch mechanism and when released, it opens partway thanks to the spring-loaded hinge. Because of the outward folding display, the Mate Xs 2 also boasts a creaseless display which is a rarity in the folding smartphone segment.

The smartphone’s body is made of aviation-grade titanium alloy, ultra-light fiberglass, and ultra-light and super-strong steel. while unfolded, the slimmest part of the smartphone is only 5.4mm thick and it weighs just 255 grams. Other than that, the device features a microfiber material on the back giving the device a premium feel when unfolded.

Coming to the display, it offers a 6.5-inches folded screen which expands to 7.8-inches when unfolded. It has an OLED panel with 2480 x 2200 pixels resolution when expanded (2480 × 1176 pixels while folded). The display panel comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 240 Hz touch sampling rate, 1440 Hz PWM dimming, and 424ppi pixel density. It also covers the P3 wide color gamut and comes with a Nano Optical Layer on it to reduce reflections.

Specs

Under the hood, the smartphone houses a Snapdragon 888 4G SoC with the Adreno 660 GPU on board. It comes in a single storage configuration of 8GB + 512GB, and the memory can be expanded further by up to 256GB with Huawei’s Nano Memory Card.

The Mate XS 2 runs on EMUI 12 out of the box and brings special features to the foldable device like smart multi-window and quick-swipe gestures to utilize the larger screen more efficiently and effectively.

The device features a 4600mAh battery with 66W fast charging support that Huawei claims can charge the battery to 90% in just 30 minutes. For thermal management, the device has incorporated a Graphene liquid cooling system.

The Mate Xs 2 also offers support for Huawei M-Pen 2s Stylus which comes with a 4096-level high-pressure sense and an 82mAh battery capable of continuously writing for 10 hours and offers a standby time of 40 days. It uses Bluetooth 5 for connectivity.

Other features of the Mate Xs 2 include tri-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/ Beidou/ NavIC, USB Type-C, and headphone support via USB Type-C connector. The device also covers all the standard 2G, 3G, and 4G bands.

Camera

For optics, the foldable has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary with an f/1.8 aperture, ]a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture, OIS, and 3x optical zoom capability. The camera panel also houses a Laser Focus sensor. On the front, the device houses a 10.7-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

The rear camera is capable of clicking pictures in 8192 × 6144 pixels resolution and supports 1080p@960fps super slow motion videography. Huawei has also introduced an improved XD Optical engine which is the company’s custom image restoration technology that is capable of capturing true colors and removing optical aberrations. Other than that, the device offers multiple camera features like mirroring smart shooting, dual-screen synchronous framing, easy click, and smart object removal.

Pricing & Availability

Huawei is offering the Mate Xs 2 foldable smartphone with 8GB RAM + 512GB storage for a price tag of €1,999 in the European market. It comes in Black, White, and Violet color options, and it will be available to purchase in June.

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro has launched in European markets today. It had debuted in China last month. The global variant comes with the same specifications Alongside the smartwatch, the brand has also announced the Huawei Mate Xs 2 foldable smartphone. The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro arrives as the successor to the Watch GT 2 Pro that debuted way back on 2020.

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro specifications

The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro comes in 43 and 46mm circular dial sizes. The former features a 1.32-inch screen whereas the latter has a 1.43-inch display. Both variants come with an AMOLED panel, ceramic body, and sapphire glass. The smartwatch has a traditional crown and a physical button on the right side of the device. It is water-resistant up to 5 meters.

The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro is equipped with a heart rate monitor, SpO2 sensor, body temperature, sleep tracker, stress monitor, and more. The smartwatch also comes with ECG to check the user’s heart rhythm and electrical activity. The wearable device offers 100 sports modes including 18 professional activities. It is also equipped with dual-band GPS.

Earlier today, Vivo held a launch event to debut its new flagship X80 series smartphones in India. Along with the new smartphones, Vivo has also launched the Vivo TWS 2 ANC and Vivo TWS 2E in India, so let’s take a look at what these new earbuds have to offer.

Vivo TWS 2 ANC specifications

Vivo TWS 2 ANC weighs only 4.7grams (per earphone) making them very comfortable to wear. They feature dynamic ANC which is able to cancel noise up to 40dB and also offer a transparency mode.

The earbuds also have 12.2mm drivers for crisp bass, natural mids, and detailed highs. For gaming, they offer an 88ms low latency mode. It supports ACC, SBC, and aptX Adaptive codec and uses Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity.

The earphones have Google Assistant built-in and come with the “Find My TWS” feature. Vivo claims that the earbuds can last for up to 7 hours on a single charge with ANC turned off and up to 29 hours when combined with the charging case. With ANC turned on, the earbuds can last for around 4 hours and it takes around 110 minutes for the device to fully charge.

Vivo TWS 2E

Coming to the Vivo TWS 2E, the earbuds offer 12.2mm drivers for super-strong Bass & come with Vivo’s Golden Ears Acoustics Lab, and DeepX 2.0 Stereo sound effects.

The TWS SE uses Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity and has Google Assistant built-in. The earbuds offer up to 7.6 hours of battery life on a single charge which can be extended up to 27 hours using the charging case.

Vivo TWS 2 ANC, Vivo TWS 2E price in India

The Vivo TWS 2 ANC is priced at Rs 5,999 (~$77) in India and is available in a single black color option. The Vivo TWS 2E on the other hand is priced at Rs 3,299 (~$342) and comes in a white color option. The earphones will go on sale on May 25th via Flipkart and Vivo online and offline stores.

Earlier today (18th May 2022), Oppo announced a new product that will soon be launching in the brand’s home market of China. The new product in question is the Enco R truly wireless earbuds.

The Chinese smartphone maker teased the upcoming hearables with a new teaser poster online. This image also showcased one of its upcoming color option, which features a dual tone color scheme with a dominant white accent while the charging case internals featuring a blue accent. Talking about the earbuds itself, it features a semi in ear style format that resembles the Apple AirPods. It also features a stem design as well.

For those unaware, the company is also planning on launching its highly anticipated new Reno 8 series of smartphones later this month on 23rd of May 2022. So, we can expect these wireless earphones to launch along with the new Reno devices. Notably, the brand has also marketing the new Enco R TWS earbuds as the “Sound for Reno,” which more or less confirms its announcement next week, with the Reno 8 series.

The Oppo Reno 8 series includes three smartphone models, including a Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro, and Reno 8 Pro+, which will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, MediaTek Dimensity 1300, and the Dimensity 8100 MAX SoC respectively. So stick around for more, as we will be covering the launch event.

Last month, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 earbuds were launched in the US market. Now, the TWS earphones have made their way to India. The new earbuds succeed the Momentum True Wireless 2 that was released back in 2020 and pack a lot of interesting features, so let’s check them out.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 specs & features

Starting with the design, the TWS earbuds have a similar in-ear design to their predecessor for a secure fit that won’t come loose even during physical activities like working out and exercising.

The earbuds feature 7mm dynamic drivers that offer deep bass and detailed mid & highs. It comes with a special Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that is capable of adjusting the noise-canceling levels according to the noise in the surroundings. Apart from the ANC mode, the earbuds also come with Transparency mode. Sennheiser also offers custom music profiles that can be chosen from the company’s Smart Control app. The earbuds also offer support for AAC, SBC, and aptX codecs.

Coming to the battery life, the earbuds can provide up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge. Paired with the charging case, it is capable of up to 21 hours of total battery life. It comes with a convenient USB Type-C port for charging and also supports Qi wireless charger. Lastly, the earbuds come with an IPX4 rating for water and dust resistance.

Pricing & availability

Sennheiser has priced the Momentum True Wireless 3 at ₹24,990 ($322) in India. However, it is available to purchase for ₹21,990 ($283) as part of an introductory offer on Amazon India.

At the Realme Narzo 50 5G series launch event, the brand also announced a smartwatch as planned. The wearable goes by the name of Realme Techlife Watch SZ100. Unsurprisingly, like most smartwatches in the market, it is merely a fitness tracker disguised as a smartwatch.

The Realme Techlife Watch SZ100 has a square dial. It sports a 1.69-inch color display (LCD) with a resolution of 240 x 280 pixels, 218 PPI, and 530 nits peak brightness. Users can customize the screen with over 110 watch faces. There’s also support for customizable watch faces.

The accessory comes with 24 sports modes. Some of the popular ones are walking, outdoor running, cycling, football, yoga, and dancing.

It not only has an optical heart rate sensor but also an SpO2 sensor and a skin temperature sensor. Hence, apart from heart rate monitoring, the product also supports blood oxygen level monitoring, body temperature monitoring, and sleep monitoring.

Other features include music control, camera control, stopwatch, timer, alarm, weather, find phone, and flashlight. Finally, the watch has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and it is rated to last for up to 12 days on a full charge.

The Realme Techlife Watch SZ100 is priced at ₹2,499 in India. It can be availed in either Lake Blue or Magic Grey color options. Its first sale is scheduled for May 22 at 12 PM via Realme.com and Amazon India.

ASUS launches new ROG Strix SCAR 17 SE & ROG Flow X16 gaming laptops

ASUS has just announced a new lineup of gaming laptops. The company has recently unveiled a new high performance gaming laptop along with another model that features a thin and light format. So let’s have a look.

ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition

Talking about the top end model first, the ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition is the latest entry in the ROG Strix series. It is a high performance gaming laptop that features top notch specifications and high end cooling. The laptop features ROG’s exclusive Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal, which is applied to both the CPU and GPU for better thermals. Under the hood, a 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12950HX processor runs the laptop along with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop graphics card that has 16GB of VRAM.

This CPU and GPU is paired with up to 64GB of dual channel DDR5 4800MHz RAM and up to 4TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD in RAID 0. On the front, it sports a 17.3 inch display that is offered in two variants. First is a Full HD screen, which comes with a whopping 360HZ refresh rate, 100 percent sRGB color gamut, IPS level panel with Adaptive Sync and Dolby Vision as well. On the other hand, the other model is a 2K panel that has a 240Hz refresh rate 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut while the rest of the features are the same. Both panels have a 3ms response time.

Other features include, Backlit chiclet keyboard that has RGB with Aura Sync, four speakers that support Dolby Atmos and Hi Res Audio, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, a 90Whr battery pack, and various USB ports and display ports as well. The laptop weighs a total of 3 kilograms, which is hefty, but it comes with some powerful specs. For design, it offers a matte metallic texture along with a cyberpunk aesthetic.

ROG Flow X16

Along with the high performance gaming laptop, the company has also unveiled the new ROG Flow X16 notebook as well. It is a thin and light convertible laptop that weighs just 2.1 kilograms but features some powerful specs as well. Although, one of its highlighting features is undoubtedly its ROG Nebula HDR Display. It sports a 16 inch display that is also offered in two variants. The first is a Mini LED panel that has a QHD resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, 1100 nits of peak brightness, 512 local dimming zones, touchscreen support, and more.

The other model is an IPS panel that has most of the same features like resolution and refresh rate, but with a lower overall brightness. Under the hood, one can opt for up to an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS process that can be paired with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card that has 8GB of VRAM. This CPU and GPU are paired with up to 64GB of DDR5 4800MHz RAM and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. Other features include, Backlit chiclet keyboard that also supports Aura Sync, four speakers that come with Dolby ATmos and Hi Res Audio certification, WiFi 6E, Bluetoot h5.2, a 90WHr battery pack, and more.

Pricing & Availability

The ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 SE will start from an eye watering 3,500 US Dollars, while the ROG Flow X16 will start from a price tag of 1,950 US Dollars and can go up to a whopping 2,700 US Dollars for the top end model. Both new gaming laptops are set to go on sale by June 2022.

EV startup Squad Mobility has announced its upcoming two-seater electric vehicle with a solar roof. The Squad (Solar Quad) will debut in Europe in 2023 and its starting price is €6,250 ($6,591).

The Squad is a solar-powered compact EV that features a pretty simple design and is projected as an affordable EV. Its design incorporates large windows, removable doors, stylish wheels, and a roof-mounted solar panel. The Squad’s solar panel is capable of delivering up to 20km of mileage per day. The car also has a swappable battery setup to enhance its range to around 100km. The Squad’s battery can be charged using regular household outlets, which adds to its versatility.

The Squad’s interior features a very simple and inexpensive design. It however has a digital instrument cluster and some other basic systems like climate control. Two rear-mounted electric motors will provide up to 5HP in output and a top speed of 45km/h. The company says it is also developing a four-seat solar-powered EV but no timelines were given for its release.

Squad Mobility says it is already accepting pre-orders for the Squad. The €6,250 ($6,591) price tag will be slightly higher after statutory taxes are factored in. There are no indications at this time whether Squad Mobility also has global plans for the Squad.
