Among them, the Black Shark 5 Pro has managed to achieve peak scores of 1,237 points and 3,750 points for single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. The Black Shark 5, on the other hand, seems to hover around the 3,000 and 1,000 points mark, which although isn’t too impressive for a gaming phone, should be improved once the series is released.

Additionally, the official Black Shark Weibo handle today showed off the phones’ shoulder buttons with a demo video. Dubbed “Magnetic Lifting Shoulder Button 2.0,” the dedicated keys allow greater control when gaming, whether it’s FPS or racing games. They seem to have a “U-shape” for optimal grip.

The Black Shark 5 Pro is equipped with a 6.67-inch OLED with a 2400 × 1080 resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood will be assisted by 16GB of RAM and will be powered by a 4650mAh battery with 120W fast charging support.

Meanwhile, the Black Shark 5 is equipped with a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. Under the hood, there’s the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor paired with 12GB of RAM that will get its juice from a 4650mAh battery with 120W fast charging support.

realme GT NEO 3 could launch in India next month, BIS certification indicates

The realme GT NEO 3, which was launched on March 22nd in China as the world’s fastest charging phone, is now headed to India and Malaysia as indicated by its new country-specific certifications.

Tipster Abhishek Yadav through a tweet today showed off the BIS and SIRIM certificates for the device. The former stands for Bureau of Indian Standards while the latter refers to the Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia.

Abhishek expects the realme GT NEO 3 to launch in April or May in India, which is quite plausible considering Chinese phones typically do take a month or two to reach the global market following their domestic launches.

The realme GT NEO 3 comes in three colors, two of which have Le Mans-inspired racing stripes, which makes it extremely attractive. On the front, it sports a 6.7 inch OLED display that has an FHD+ resolution with 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate support. Under the hood, it features MediaTek’s newly announced Dimensity 8100 SoC, which is fabricated by TSMC’s 5nm process.

Realme

For photography, the smartphone houses a triple camera setup on the rear, with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor. This is joined by an 8-megapixel ultrawide angle lens and another 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.

But perhaps the best part is its 4,500mAh battery that can be charged up to 50 percent in just 5 minutes thanks to industry-leading 150W charging support.

The realme GT NEO 2 is now receiving the Android 12-based realme UI 3.0 update in China with a bunch of new features. The phone is a recent launch and shipped with realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 out of the box.

realme UI 3.0 is a fairly major update integrating multiple Android 12-specific features into the skin such as dynamic wallpaper-based theming, the new Privacy Dashboard, and mic and camera status bar indicators. These are topped with realme optimizations such as AI Smooth Engine for better animations and system performance and Floating Window 2.0.

  • [Optimization] The loading speed of high-frequency scenes of third-party applications is improved, and browsing Weibo and watching videos is more enjoyable

System

Obviously, the changelog for the global variant of the realme GT NEO 2 will look a lot different. The update should take a while to reach outside China, though, since a realme official said that the complete rollout in China may take up to 15 days (via IT Home). It is likely that the global release will only start afterward.

Mitsubishi’s Pajero manufacturing facility to start producing toilet paper instead

In the aftermath of the end of car production activities in its Sakahogi, Japan plant, Mitsubishi Motors has inked a deal to sell the facility to a paper manufacturing company. This is the culmination of a chain of events that was signposted by the company’s decision to axe the Pajero from its production line last year. Retail sales have been below expected and the Pajero had been last redesigned more than 15 years back.

The loss of the plant was therefore inevitable for the Japanese automaker, and the current deal to sell the facility to Daio Paper was aimed to retain some jobs within the local economy. The deal is worth 4 billion yen ($33 million) and will see the new owners retooling the facility to produce paper products like tissue and toilet paper. The plant’s location in central Japan will offer Daio the flexibility to effectively supply Tokyo and Greater Osaka regions, which are major economic centers in the country. Daio holds a 30% share of the facial and toilet tissue market in Japan, and the new facility could see it expanding its reach.

There are mixed opinions relating to the future of the Pajero – an SUV with a rich history in Japan and across the world. The Australian market got the last glimpse of the SUV when the Final Edition of the model was presented in 2021. Up to 800 units were delivered at the time. There is also the talk of a possible collaboration between Mitsubishi and Nissan with the next-generation model underpinned by previous models. It is also rumored to come with a redesign by 2924 at the earliest.

iPhone SE 3 panel produced from world’s first low-carbon aluminum smelting process

Apple has made significant investments in its goal of significantly reducing its carbon footprint in manufacturing its various products. Apple’s Green Bonds project has gulped about $4.7 billion since 2019 when it commenced and some great dividends are now becoming visible. It has been announced that the Cupertino-based company will be deploying aluminum produced through a new and carbon-free smelting process in the manufacture of the iPhone SE.iPhone SE 3

According to Apple, the new technology will produce aluminum without creating any direct carbon emissions, unlike the current aluminum smelting processes. The new aluminum production process is being powered by Elisys at its Quebec facility. The production process is itself driven by hydropower. Elisys is a joint partnership between Rio Tinto and Alcoa. Apple says it is committed to leaving the planet better than it met it and the Green Bonds project is a key tool for achieving its environmental renewal efforts.

The Green Bond investment is advancing leading to breakthrough technologies needed to reduce the carbon footprint of materials used in production. Apple says its goal is to use only recyclable and renewable materials in production and there are already great gains in that direction. An Apple facility in Denmark is using renewable energy for the entire production process.

The potential of producing commercial purity primary aluminum that is carbon-free is quite remarkable for the environment. The byproduct of the production process is oxygen, unlike current smelting processes that yield a raft of greenhouse gases. There are therefore possibilities that the Elisys production process could make lasting changes to the environment by fundamentally altering how aluminum is produced. Apple ha$1s not put any timeline yet on the potential release date of the iPhone SE produced from carbon-free aluminum.

OnePlus 10 Pro tours the stratosphere to capture some amazing pictures

OnePlus has confirmed the global launch of its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 10 Pro, on March 31, 2022. The smartphone is equipped with high-performing cameras which is its main selling point. To demonstrate the photography quality of the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G, which is built in collaboration with Hasselblad, OnePlus launched their latest flagship into the stratosphere under the ‘Capture the Horizon’ campaign.

OnePlus 10 Pro

The smartphone captured breathtaking images of the earth’s horizon. The campaign was made possible by sending the smartphone into the stratosphere at 38,000 meters, where the wind speed is 200km/hr, and temperatures go down to minus 60 degrees.

The journey was made possible by an ultra-lightweight module attached to a weather balloon, which sheltered the phones from the elements. Further, an app was developed to remotely operate the devices, which helped click pictures at the right time and with the appropriate settings. Using meteorological calculations, the module with the phones was recovered, which pleasantly revealed some spectacular horizon images.

Talking about the campaign, Kate Parkyn, Associate Marketing Director, OnePlus Europe, said:
“Since the launch of the OnePlus 9 series, we have been in a close-knit strategic partnership with Hasselblad to co-create and improve on OnePlus flagship camera technology. This is the second year of our partnership with Hasselblad where we have further developed and improved the color science with the second-generation Hasselblad Camera for Mobile. Our campaign is inspired by Hasselblad’s historical voyage to space to take images of the moon and we were confident that our camera too will be successful in delivering the same image quality. We are extremely delighted to see the stunning images of the horizon captured by OnePlus 10 Pro and proudly present this trusted camera quality to OnePlus users.”

The initiative was executed in close collaboration with OnePlus community members. They were involved in naming the module and contributing to the stratosphere’s eventful journey.
For those unaware, Hasselblad was the first camera to take pictures on the moon. With the “Capture the Horizon” campaign, OnePlus has tried to prove the reliability and quality of the camera system on the OnePlus 10 Pro, which comes powered by Hasselblad.

Huawei case could allow P50 4G series to support 5G, live image appears

Huawei may be the global leader in 5G technologies but has been unable to ship its smartphones with 5G capabilities, at least directly, due to the crippling US sanctions. Its flagship P50 series, for example, comes with flagship chips but with disabled/removed 5G modems. But with a new hack, this shortcoming could soon be worked around.

An innovative mobile phone case that will enable its 4G mobile phones to support 5G is set to launch soon, likely by Huawei itself. With an image posted on Weibo, blogger @changan (via IT Home) posted an image of the thing, which although is quite unclear, does give an idea of what to expect.

huawei 5g case

The case seems to have a SIM Card slot on the inside along with some other components, one of which may even be a 5G modem. The caption for the post poses a question — “will it be made by a third party for Huawei?” — so it’s unclear if the case in the picture is a first-party unit from Huawei.

Other than the 5G components, the orange-colored case looks quite ordinary with a soft silicone finish. The 5G bits don’t look to be contributing to the thickness of the piece, meaning it will likely feel just like a normal cover when slapped onto the back of a phone.

It’s also unclear what phone the silicon 5G case has been designed for but many suspect it to be for the Huawei P50 series.

While definitely very innovative, this isn’t the first time a company has retrofitted its phone with 5G capabilities. Motorola with a mod a couple of years ago brought 5G support to the Moto Z4, although it was rather hefty. Huawei’s implementation isn’t clear as of yet but the Moto 5G mod came with a 5G antenna from Qualcomm.

The device is said to have a total of three cameras on the back. Currently, no other information on the upcoming device is available right now. However, the device could come with the “SuperZoom” moniker which Realme has used in the past for its camera-centric devices in its numbered series.

Separately, Realme is also rumored to be working on a mid-range smartphone with a OnePlus like alert slider. This upcoming device is tipped to launch sometime in April 2022.

OnePlus 10R tipped to sport centered punch-hole display and lack alert slider

OnePlus is being rumored to launch OnePlus 10R since January. Recently, a report revealed that the phone is codenamed ‘pickle’ and it has entered private testing in India. A few days from that, a new report has emerged today with more details.

According to a report by PriceBaba, the OenPlus 10R will be the first smartphone from the brand with a centered punch-hole display. Up until now, all the handsets from the company have featured a punch-hole at the top left corner.

Further, the OnePlus 10R will also be the first number series smartphone from the firm to not sport an alert slider. Only cheaper OnePlus Nord models have lacked the iconic alert slider so far.

Last but not least, the report also suggests that the successor of the OnePlus 9R could be a rebranded realme GT NEO3 as their design will be near identical. However, this does not make sense as the latter is also expected to release in India and other international markets.

Additionally, an earlier report tipped MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset for the OnePlus 10R. Whereas, the realme GT NEO3 has a less powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC.

Therefore, we believe that the OnePlus 10R could be rather a tweaked version of realme GT NEO3 with some differences in features. What are your thoughts on this upcoming OnePlus device? Do let us know in the comment section below.
