The second image gives a glimpse of its gradient-colored rear shell. The top-left corner features a triple camera unit with an LED flash. As it is known, this handset will be different from the Vivo T1 5G that was announced in China last year.

Sony Linkbuds WF-L900 TWS earbuds leaked, features unique design & ANC

A new leak has just revealed an upcoming audio product from Sony. These new hearables are the Linkbuds WF-L900 truly wireless earbuds that can be seen in two color variants.

Sony

The news arrives from @TechInsiderBlog (Via NotebookCheck) who shared images of the upcoming earbuds on Twitter. Furthermore, the main body contains a mic while the doughnut shaped segment will rest on top of user’s ear canal. This part stays in place thanks to a silicon tip.

Notably, the Linkbuds would also feature a proximity sensor to detect if you have taken them off. Reportedly, the main body of the TWS earbuds might also be touch sensitive, with support for gesture controls since there are no visible buttons. The new model might not be the replacement for the Japanese tech giant’s WF-100XM4 earbuds, but could be positioned right under it. The leaked images also reveal their charging case and two color variants, namely White and Black.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series uses new material made of abandoned fishing nets

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is easily one of the leaked devices ever with most of its information already at hand several days before launch. But what most did not likely know was that the latest flagship lineup uses a new material made of discarded fishing nets.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series fishing nets

The company has revealed through a press release that the S22 series uses a “new material” made of repurposed ocean-bound discarded fishing nets.

The components making use of the said material were not revealed and neither was the percentage of the new material used. Still, it’s great to see Samsung contribute to the increasing efforts by tech companies to make products more sustainable.

“The use of this material marks another step in our Galaxy for the Planet journey that aims to minimize our environmental footprint and help foster more sustainable lifestyles for the Galaxy community,” Samsung wrote.

Discarded-fishing-nets_1-scaled

The company also revealed that will incorporate repurposed ocean-bound plastics throughout its entire product lineup in the future. Around 640,000 tons of fishing nets have been said to be abandoned in the ocean each year, posing great threats to marine life, coral reefs, and natural habitats, so the move is significant.

The Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for February 9th will likely be shedding more light on the new material, so stay tuned.

Samsung had earlier detailed plans to expand its use of recycled materials over the next three years to include all mobile products and home appliances, along with eliminating the use of single-use plastic.

Samsung could face its first labor strike in 50 years over flopped wage talks

Samsung Electronics could face its first labor strike in 50 years as wage talks with labor unions fell apart.

Following months of back and forth negotiations, representatives of the labor union filed for arbitration to Korea’s National Labor Relations Commission, which is a government agency under the Labor Ministry (via Korea Herald).

The move gives Samsung 10 days to reach an agreement, failure to comply with will result in a strike and a pause in several Samsung businesses like semiconductor chips and electronics.

samsung logo ces booth featured

The Korean company thus finds itself in a tough spot, already hit hard by the semiconductor shortage that has led to scarce inventories and delays in shipments. Take its flagship Galaxy S22 series, for example, whose deliveries has been pushed ahead by a couple of weeks.

“Although (the union) has been through the 15 rounds of talks (with Samsung), the management had unilaterally delayed the progress in negotiation in a deceitful manner,” National Samsung Electronics Labor Union, said in a statement.

The NSELU currently stands 4,500 members strong and negotiations between it and Samsung commenced in October. They were a first for the company with appeals concerning a wage hike, COVID-19 compensation, and special leave options, all of which fell on deaf ears.

Samsung, in a draft agreement in March, had suggested a wage hike of up to 7.5 percent, including a 4.5 percent basic pay raise, but excluded the labor unions’ calls.

“We have come to file an arbitration with the NLRC based on our observation that our talks will no longer proceed. Our future direction will depend on the willingness of Samsung to negotiate,” NSELU added.

Apple MacBook Pro powered by M2 chipset won’t feature ProMotion display

After launching the M1 chipset under Apple Silicon a couple of years back with the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro devices, the Cupertino-based tech giant is now gearing up to launch the second-generation processor based on ARM architecture.

There have been some reports about the M2 chipset powering the new MacBook series models and now another report has surfaced online that talks about the feature we can expect from the new M2-powered MacBook Pro.

Apple MacBook Pro

In the Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, it is claimed that the new entry-level MacBook Pro with the yet unannounced Apple M2 chipset won’t feature a ProMotion display that we saw on the recent 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

The report adds that the lack of ProMotion display on the upcoming entry-level MacBook Pro models is to differentiate it from the M1 Pro and M1 Max-powered models. Apart from the screen, the company could also compromise on storage.

It is expected to feature an LCD screen while the new MacBook Air powered by the M2 processor is said to come with a Mini LED display. This means that the device won’t have support for ProMotion or a variable 120Hz refresh rate.

Apart from the MacBook Pro, the upcoming Apple M2 chipset will refresh all the M1-powered devices, including the entry-level MacBook Air, Mac Mini, and a 24-inch iMac. While the launch date for these devices remains unknown, we expect to see a refreshed version of all of them by the end of this year.

The company also has a wide range of devices ready to launch this year and we are expecting to see Apple complete the transition from Intel to Apple Silicon for its Mac lineup.

Apple AirPods Max 2 could have touch controls instead of digital crown

Apple launched the AirPods Max, its wireless headphones with a sturdy metal build and support for active noise cancellation feature. Now, the Cupertino-based technology giant is expected to launch its successor this year.

There have been some reports about the improvements that we could expect in the upcoming AirPods Max 2 headphones and now a new patent filed by the company hints at the introduction of touch controls.

Apple AirPods Max

Apple has filed for a new patent (via Patently Apple) titled “Wireless Headphone Interaction” that would replace the digital crown with a touch-sensitive surface. Currently, Apple is using a digital crown for audio controls on the AirPods Max.

Earlier, the technology giant was granted a patent related to smart fabrics with touch controls for over-the-ear headphones. There have been two more patents from the brand for providing users with touch gesture input on the outside of the ear cups.

Connecting the dots, it appears that the company is now working on offering touch-based controls for the upcoming AirPods Max 2 headphones by replacing the digital crown. Do note that this hasn’t been confirmed and even Apple gets the patent, there’s no guarantee that it ends up using this technology for the upcoming headphones.

Apple is also likely to launch the AirPods Pro 2 true wireless earphones in the coming months. If the reports are to be believed, then there will be a revamped design and a new chip replacing the H1, resulting in improved battery life. It is also expected to have seamless switching between connected devices. They are also rumored to have built-in sensors for fitness tracking features.

New Honor 60 series phone’s launch date to be confirmed tomorrow

Back in December 2021, Honor announced the Honor 60 and Honor 60 Pro smartphones in China. While the company was rumored to launch the Honor 60 SE at that time, it wasn’t announced alongside the Honor 60 and 60 Pro. Today, Honor China CMO Jiang Hairong Harrison took to Weibo to confirm that the firm will be announcing a new Honor 60 series product tomorrow (on Feb. 8). It can be said based on recent reports that the launch date of the Honor 60 SE might get confirmed tomorrow.

Honor 60 SE case renders

The Honor 60 SE name is yet to be confirmed, but since the company had launched the Honor 50 SE last year, it seems that the next Honor 60 series phone could be called the Honor 60 SE. In December, an Honor smartphone with the model number GIA-AN00 model number was approved by China’s 3C agency. The same device was seen at the Geekbench benchmarking site recently. Speculations are rife that the GIA-AN00 Honor phone may break cover as the Honor 60 SE.

Honor 60 SE case renders

The 3C listing of the GIA-AN00 revealed that it may arrive with support for 66W fast charging. The device scored 3314 in the single-core test of Geekbench 4, and it recorded a score of 8287 in the multi-test. The listing revealed that the device is powered by the Dimensity 900 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. The device is likely to run on Android 11 and the latest Magic UI. Shown above are the Honor 60 SE case renders that were spotted in the recent past.

To recollect, the Honor 60 and Honor 60 Pro are powered by the Snapdragon 778G and Snapdragon 778G Plus, respectively. Hence, it appears that the Honor 60 SE will be positioned below the existing Honor 60 series smartphones. Reports have claimed that the Honor X40i could be the other phone that may go official with the Honor 60 SE.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 1TB storage model to launch in select markets only

Samsung is gearing up to launch the next-generation Galaxy S-series flagship smartphones in a couple of days. While most of the details about the upcoming phones have been leaked, there’s still a mystery surrounding the 1TB storage model.

There have been contradicting reports about the arrival of a 1TB storage model for the Galaxy S22 Ultra model and now it seems we have an answer. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with 1TB internal storage is apparently coming, but to select markets only.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Teaser

According to the latest report, the 1TB storage model of the premium Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone will be available in South Korea and China. Previously, it was claimed that the 1TB model will come to the European market as well.

Since there has been no mention of Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 1TB storage model in the leaks for the US market, it’s possible that the United States might miss out on this top-end version, at least for the initial weeks. The company may decide to introduce it after some time.

Apart from the United States, there could be some other regions that might miss out on the top-end model, including the Middle East and India. However, there has been no confirmation about this and it’s just speculation at this time.

Coming to the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra features a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with support for HDR10+, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 1,750nits peak brightness.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset or the Samsung Exynos 2200 processor, depending on the region. If the reports are to be believed, then this time, there will be more regions getting the Qualcomm-powered model.

In the camera department, there will be a quad-camera setup with a 108MP (f/1.8) primary camera, a 12MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera, and a couple of 10MP telephoto cameras with f/2.4 and f/4.9 apertures. The flagship smartphone will also come with support for 8K Super HDR video recording.

It will be running the latest Android 12 operating system with Samsung One UI on top. The device will come with a 5000mAh battery size and support 45W fast charging which will be the highest yet for a Samsung smartphone.

Purported iPhone SE 3 images appear online but are likely fake

An unnamed source has released some images of the yet-to-be-released iPhone SE 3 which shows a little departure from the iPhone SE design. The images, if authentic, provide the strongest indication yet that it is not far off design-wise from the current iPhone SE model.iPhone SE 3

The source of the images revealed the details to Front Page Tech’s Jon Prosser and could be viewed on the Genius Bar podcast. Although the quality of the images was restrictive since Prosser displayed them from his iPad, we could see a clear resemblance to the iPhone SE. These are the first real-life images of the iPhone SE 3, although we cannot say authoritatively that these images were authentic. The iPhone SE 3 is meant to be a budget smartphone with some of the exciting functionalities that we have come to know the Apple brand for.

Apple will update some of the interior components of the new iPhone SE 3 to distinguish it from its predecessor. It comes with a 4.7-inch display, a Touch ID button, and thick bezels. Likely to be powered by an A15 Bionic chipset, the iPhone SE 3 will offer 5G connectivity and will not have flagship capabilities, partly due to price considerations. The camera setup of the iPhone SE 3 also provides a better output than the iPhone SE 2020.iPhone SE 3

The Apple iPhone SE 3 could be part of the lineup of devices that will be showcased in the upcoming Apple event in a couple of months. The Apple spring unveiling event could include the iPad Pro 22, iPad Air 5, and possibly an iMac model. The Apple iPhone 14 lineup is already scheduled for a fall 2022 unveiling. They are a lot of details still lacking for the iPhone SE 3 including pricing information and global availability. These details will start coming to the fore as we inch closer to the eventual unveiling of the iPhone SE 3.

iPhone SE 3 and iPad Air 5 may have Gone into Mass Production, iPhone SE will Not Support MagSafe

Apple conventionally organises three highlighting events in a calendar year which are its Spring Launch Event held in March or April, its annual WWDC conference held in June, and its Fall Launch Event in September or October. Apple’s Spring Launch Events may not bring as much attention as its flagship Fall Events, but Spring is normally when Apple launches its more affordable offerings for its users such as the Apple Airtags and iPhone SE lineup.

In 2022, Apple is rumoured to announce the iPhone SE (3rd generation), the successor of the iPhone SE (2nd generation) released back in April 2020, and the iPad Air (5th generation), the successor of the iPad Air (4th generation) released back in September 2020, at its yearly anticipated Spring Launch Event.

Macotakara, a Japanese tech platform with connections to Asian technology supply chain manufacturers, published a post that according to its reliable Chinese sources, the designs of the iPhone SE 3 and iPad Air 5 have been officially confirmed and both devices have now gone into mass production in the region.

Macotakara also shared several upcoming details of the iPhone SE 3 in their posting as well. The iPhone SE 3 is said to sport the same compact housing as its predecessor, the iPhone SE 2, and the glass and aluminium chassis is to remain unchanged from its predecessor as well.

Another surprising news is that the Apple iPhone SE 3 will not include support for MagSafe. Instead, the device will only support conventional Qi Wireless Charging introduced back on the iPhone 8. MagSafe was introduced back on the iPhone 12 series to provide faster and more reliable wireless charging for iPhone users and every iPhone announced since then has had this feature.

The main upgrade of the iPhone SE 3 will be the performance under the hood. The iPhone SE 3 is said to come with 5G connectivity support and will be equipped with the Apple A15 Bionic chip, the same one found on the iPhone 13 series.

Geekbench Scores Leaked for Lenovo’s Upcoming Ultrabook, Sporting a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 Under the Hood

Intel announced its 12th Gen Alder Lake Mobile Processors back in January during CES 2022, and this year, Intel has the confidence to compete with AMD in the laptop chip market with its 45W H-series for gaming laptops, 28W P-series for premium thin and light ultrabooks, and 15W U-series for the user who needs the power to go a full day on a single charge.

As of current, we are only seeing the H-series processors in the market in devices such as the Lenovo Legion 5i and Legion 5i Pro 2022 refresh and the Asus Tianxuan 3 gaming laptop available in China. However, a new benchmark in Geekbench 5 indicates that Lenovo is currently testing out the Alder Lake 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile processors on its upcoming premium thin and light ultrabook.

The Geekbench 5 listing shows that the Lenovo device model is codenamed “LENOVO 4810RD0100” and it is sporting an Intel Core i7-1280P Alder Lake processor under the hood. Equipped with 32GB of LPDDR5 2593MHz of RAM, the device has scored 1784 in single-core tests, and 9790 in multi-core tests. These results are astonishing, as this 12th Gen Alder Lake 28W Core i7 P-series mobile processor managed to exceed the scores of last year’s core i9-11980HK found in gaming laptops.

As for the details of the Intel Core i7-1280P chip, it has a total of 14 cores and 20 threads. 6 of those cores are P-cores(Performance Cores) for heavy workloads and 8 E-cores(Efficiency Cores) for lighter tasks.
