Samsung Galaxy M33 5G will house a 6,000mAh battery: Safety Korea

We first heard about the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G at the end of October. One and a half months later, we now get to learn a specific detail about this phone. Let’s take a look at what it is all about.

Samsung Galaxy M32 5G Featured A
Samsung Galaxy M32 5G

According to SamMobile, a Samsung smartphone battery with model number EB-BM336ABN has been certified by Saftey Korea. The cell has a rated capacity of 5,830mAh. This means it will be marketed as a 6,000mAh battery.

Going by the model number, the battery will belong to the upcoming Galaxy M33 5G (SM-M336). If this is the case, then the handset will be different from Galaxy A33 5G, which is expected to arrive with a 5,000mAh battery.

Up until now, the Galaxy M33 5G was thought to be rebranded version of Galaxy A33 5G. That’s because their predecessors Galaxy A32 5G and the Galaxy M32 5G are one and the same.

Hence, we can no longer speculate the specs of M33 5G based on A33 5G. We will have to wait for more certifications, benchmark listings, and leaks to learn more about this device.

As far as Galaxy A33 5G is concerned, it is anticipated to come with the same design and in colors as the Galaxy A53 and the Galaxy A73 but with a dewdrop notch instead of a punch-hole. The smartphone will lack a 3.5mm headphone jack, however, it will be IP67-certified for dust and water resistance.

Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold might not get MIUI updates hereafter

Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX Fold earlier this year as its first-ever foldable smartphone. It is also the company’s most-expensive commercial smartphone to date. However, the device has only received a few software updates so far and it may get even worse.

Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold
Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold

According to findings by Xiaomiui, the Mi MIX Fold may not receive any MUI updates hereafter. The MIUI Feedback app says that the handset now lacks OTA update support.

There’s another possible explanation. Xiaomi might introduce a new branch of MIUI for foldables in the future, as it did for tablets in the form of MIUI for Pad. Hence, it is currently listed with no OTA support for standard MIUI builds.

That being said, Xiaomiui has a history of wrong predictions. Therefore, this could turn out to be incorrect.

But we cannot rule out the possibility of no future updates either. That’s because the Mi MIX series has an unfortunate history of poor software support.

Anyway, for now, the Mi MIX Fold’s software situation is in a good state. Just recently, it received a system update with the longest changelog in MIUI history. This update brought changes to the software based on the feedback from actual users of the phone.

As Xiaomi appears to be dedicated to improving MIUI for foldables, we don’t think the company will suspend software support for the Mi MIX Fold.

Realme recently confirmed it will be holding the GT 2 series event at 9 AM (GMT) on Dec. 20. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G yet to be discontinued, still available in China

Xiaomi‘s Redmi Note 9 series was slated to be discontinued after November 11, aka the Double 11 festival, but now, as the Double 12 festival came and went, the brand is still selling the device.

Redmi Note 9 All Colors Featured
Redmi Note 9

Earlier in November, Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group China and GM of the Redmi brand, posted on Weibo announcing that the Redmi Note 9 5G will be delisted in China after the Double 11 sale. He further added that the smartphone will be replaced by the Redmi Note 10 and Note 11 series. This course of action was expected to be decided upon so that the previous generation Note 9-series doesn’t eat up the market share of the newer Redmi Note 10 and Note 11 series devices.

However, the Double 11 sale came and went, and the Redmi Note 9 devices were still on sale. At this point, the Chinese media claimed that the phones would be available for purchase till 12/12, aka the Double 12 shopping festival, which will mark its last day on market listings. That too has come and gone, but the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro still remain on sale. Though Xiaomi is yet to issue any official comments, there could be several reasons causing this.

Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G All Colors
Redmi Note 9 Pro

The first thing that comes to mind is over-production. It may be that Xiaomi produced an excessive number of Note 9 series devices that they could not sell in the predicted timeframe. This could be attributed to the massive success garnered by its predecessor, the Redmi Note 8 series, which led the company to increase production of the follow-up, the Redmi Note 9.

Another reason for the continued sale of the Redmi Note 9 series could be due to the devices not selling as much compared to their predecessors or the next-gen Redmi Note 10, leaving a lot of unsold stock.

Whatever the case might be, the Note 9 series is still being sold in China for a discounted price of 1149 yuan ($180) for the Note 9 5G and 1499 yuan ($235) for the Note 9 Pro 5G variant. So if you are in China, grab one before they run out!

While earlier reports have also talked about the new iMac Pro model getting launched around the same time, DSCC pretty much confirms it as its analysts usually get information from the screen manufacturers with a pretty accurate timeline.

It is expected that the device could have a starting configuration of 16GB RAM and 512GB of SSD storage, just like the recently launched MacBook Pro lineup. Further, users will likely get an option to choose between M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets.

Earlier, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had also hinted about the revamped high-end iMac with Apple Silicon launching in 2022 but then reported that the Cupertino-based tech giant may have postponed it to focus on the 24-inch M1-powered iMac.

The new report also hints about the launch timeline for some other rumored Apple products. It adds that the iPad and MacBook models featuring OLED panels are not expected to launch until 2023 but are likely to be announced in 2024.

IBM and Samsung unveil new transistors for super-efficient future chips

International Business Machines (IBM) and Samsung have announced during the IEDM conference in San Francisco revealed a breakthrough in semiconductor design by unveiling a new design for stacking transistors vertically on a chip, reports Engadget.

In the new Vertical Transport Field Effect Transistors (VTFET), transistors sit perpendicular to one another and the current flows through them vertically. For those who are unaware, in the current processors and system-on-chips, transistors lie flat on the surface and the electric current flows from side to side.

CHIPSET Featured Processor

This new kind of transistor could allow for a greater density of these components per chip compared to anything that is available at present. Thus, there’s potential for improved power efficiency or performance.

With this new design, IBM and Samsung hope to extend Moore’s Law beyond the nanosheet threshold and waste less energy. The companies also say that it will double the performance or use 85 percent less power than chips designed with FinFET transistors.

However, IBM and Samsung aren’t the only ones working on these new types of transistors. The chipset giant Intel is also experimenting with chips stacked above each other to save area, reduce interconnect lengths, and save energy to make the chips more cost-efficient and better performing. Intel aims to finalize the design for angstrom-scale chips by 2024 using its new “Intel 20A” node and RibbonFET transistors.

Check out these Xiaomi 12 Ultra Concept renders based on the leaked protective cases

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is known for affordable smartphones but in recent times, the company made a lunge for the premium flagship smartphone market with the Mi 11 and it was a huge success. The company is expected to continue the upgrade in its phone design with the 12 series. Recently, some renders of the protective cases of the Xiaomi 12 series leaked online.Graphic designer Technizo Concept has now imagined the Mi 12 Ultra based on the leaked protective cases.

The protective case for the 12 Ultra was recently shared online by Twitter tipster @rodent950 who spotted them on Chinese social media platform Weibo. Graphic designer Technizo Concept has now imagined the Xiaomi 12 Ultra based on the leaked protective cases. Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra Concept renders

The renders show the premium flagship will have a completely redesigned camera system different from the design style of the Mi 11 series. The Mi 12 Ultra will utilize a round-shaped camera module with a wide radius with a slight rectangular protrusion at the base. The circular module will house a Quad-camera setup comprising of a centrally placed, wide main sensor. There are rumors the Mi 12 Ultra main camera will be a 50-megapixel Samsung ISOCell GN5 image sensor wide-angle camera

We don’t know for sure the configurations of the other three sensors but we expect them to include ultra-wide and periscope sensors. The device is also envisioned to carry a sensor in addition to the four camera lenses but the use is not known. The LetsGoDigital in-house designer also envisions the Mi 12 Ultra to come with a Leica badge meaning Xiaomi could team up with the renowned German camera maker for the Mi 12 Ultra. That is just speculation, though.

The renders also include the front design which is expected to house a 20MP under-display camera.

Xiaomi hasn’t revealed when it will launch the Mi 12 Ultra but as it is in a race to be among the first OEMs to launch a flagship packing the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, we expect the launch to happen pretty soon.
