Realme launches Narzo 50A, Narzo 50i in India, with large batteries

Realme has just launched two new smartphones in the Narzo 50 series along with its new Smart TV Neo and Band 2 today (24th September 2021) in India. The latest handsets include the Narzo 50A and Narzo 50i.

Narzo 50A

The Narzo 50A is the more powerful variant between the two smartphones that have just been unveiled. Under the hood, it packs the MediaTek Helio G85 processor that is optimized for gaming, which is paired with the ARM Mali G52 GPU. The device is powered by a large 6,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging along with reverse charge support as well that enables it to charge other products. It also offers a rear mounted fingerprint reader for security and supports microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 256GB.

The Narzo 50A sports a 6.5 inch display that offers 400 nits of brightness on the front with a waterdrop notch and a 88.7 percent screen to body ratio. On the rear, it sports a triple camera setup, which includes a 50 megapixel AI camera, a 2 megapixel portrait lens, and a 2 megapixel macro sensor, while the front houses an 8 megapixel selfie camera. The device is available in two colors, namely Oxygen Blue and Oxygen Green, and two storage variants as well, with 4GB of RAM paired with either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.

Narzo 50i

Along with the Narzo 50A, the Chinese smartphone maker also launched the new Narzo 50i as well. However, the company did not reveal any finer details regarding the device as of right now. But, a company executive did state that the smartphone will sport an octa core processor and will feature 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage or 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. This device is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery and will be available in Mint Green and Carbon Black color variants. Similarly to the Narzo 50A, it also offers memory expansion via MicroSD card slot. On the rear, it sports a lone 8 megapixel AI camera.

ZTE Axon 30 Pro Plus UD Master Edition was announced today and its online pre-orders have commenced. The phone is equipped with an under-display front camera, comes with a leathery back panel, and has an increased storage capacity of 512GB, all of which are extras over the standard ZTE Axon 30.

Further, the phone comes with a ginormous 6.92-inch AMOLED display, almost putting it in the league of small tablets. The display, although has a standard resolution of 2400 x 1,080 (FHD+), makes up for it with a 120Hz refresh rate paired with an ultra-responsive 360Hz touch sampling rate.

The ZTE Axon 30 Pro Plus UD Edition refines the under-screen camera technology further and eliminates the screen windowing problem that was present in the previous generation of the tech. With a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and a pixel density of 400PPI (under the screen area), the transition is more natural, the pixels have also been doubled, and DC dimming is also supported.

Other specifications include a flagship-level Snapdragon 870 SOC to satisfy the phone’s processing needs, a quad-camera setup at the rear, and a 4,200mAh battery with support for 55W fast charging.

The camera setup is interesting with a 64MP sensor as primary. It comes with an aperture of f/1.79 that should result in decent low-light shots. The primary shooter is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Last but not least is the under-display selfie camera with a 16-megapixel resolution.

Other known features include USB Type-C port which has become a standard in 2021, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, and 5G connectivity.

Xiaomi has today announced that the company will be hosting a launch event on 27th September in China to officially launch its latest Xiaomi True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones 3 Pro.

The design of the upcoming TWS earphones has also been revealed by the company in the promotional poster. It shows Xiaomi True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones 3 Pro in Greyish-blue color with an in-ear design.

Further, the company has also confirmed that the true wireless earphones will come with support for a maximum noise reduction depth of 40dB. The upcoming TWS earbuds, as well as the charging case, look identical to the Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro which was launched in China earlier this year in March.

The similarity of Xiaomi True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones 3 Pro and Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro doesn’t end with design. The maximum active noise cancellation of 40dB is also the same as the FlipBuds Pro.

The earbuds were previously leaked online when they passed through the Bluetooth certification process. It revealed that the product, which carries model number LYXQEJ05WM, supports Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

It is also revealed to support SBC and AAC audio codecs, and have an IPX4 rating. We expect the product to come with gesture controls, Dual Device Intelligent Connection, multiple levels of ANC modes, and impressive battery life.

The Snapdragon 778G chipset is likely to drive the smartphone. It is likely to house a 4,500mAh battery that carries support for 55W rapid charging.

For selfies, the CIVI handset may feature a 32-megapixel Samsung GD1 lens. Its rear-facing triple camera setup could be equipped with a 64-megapixel Samsung GW3 primary camera.

Motorola is reportedly gearing up to launch two new phones such as Moto G Pure and Moto E40. Earlier this week, well-known tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer shared an official render of the Moto G Pure. Now, reputed tipster Evan Blass shared a new render of the smartphone. At the same time, tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore has also shared new renders of the upcoming Moto E40 handset.

The new render of the Moto G Pure is equipped with a teardrop notch display with a fairly thick chin. The back panel of the device has a vertical dual-camera setup. The Motorola batwing available on the backside of the phone may function as a fingerprint scanner. The right edge of the phone features a volume rocker and a power key.

Yesterday, iQOO announced the iQOO Z5 smartphone in China. A new Vivo phone with model number V2131A has bagged approval from the 3C certification site. The previously IMEI database listing of the phone revealed that it may debut with the iQOO Z5x moniker.

The 3C certification of the V2131A smartphone reveals that is a 5G-enabled device. This handset is likely to carry support for fast charging. Unfortunately, the 3C listing has no other details on its specs.

The V2131A smartphone has been previously spotted another Vivo phone with V2130A model number at the Google Play Console. Both phones are found to be equipped with common specs such as a punch-hole screen with Full HD+ support, Dimensity 900 chipset, 8 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS.

It is unclear whether the V2131A and V2130A smartphones have identical batteries and cameras. Past reports have claimed that the V2130A may debut as the Vivo S10e. Hopefully, these handsets will debut soon in the Chinese market. Rumors have it that iQOO Z5’s lineup also Z5 Pro. The rumor mill is yet to reveal the specs of this model.

In related news, a new Vivo phone with V2136A model number and its V2136GA have received approval from the TENAA authority of China. Unfortunately, the listings of these handsets are yet to be populated with specifications and images.

In addition, iQOO is gearing up to launch the iQOO Z5 on Sept. 27 in India. The handset will offer specs like a 6.67-inch LCD FHD+ 120Hz display, Snapdragon 778G chipset, a 5,000mAh battery, a 16-megapixel front camera, 64-megapixel triple cameras, and 44W fast charging.

Investment bank Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives believes that iPhone 13 orders are already about 20% ahead of Apple‘s earlier iPhone 12 lineup due to high volumes of pre-orders in China. He says that iPhone 13 demand looks “robust out of the gates,” as China approaches the 5 million or 6 million pre-orders mark. Despite supply chain issues, Apple could witness better results than iPhone 12 launch last year.

The analyst, in conversation with AppleInsider, also highlights that a major chunk of iPhone orders is skewing toward the premium models like the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, which will help Apple end up averaging higher ASP (average selling price). As a result of this, Apple may continue to maintain its lead with an even bigger margin this time. Ives also believes that luring financing options and aggressive trade-ins could also play a role in swaying iPhone owners who may be considering an upgrade.

Wedbush supply checks hint that iPhone 13 orders appear to be in the 90 million unit range which is higher than the 80 million units that we witnessed for iPhone 12. Apple may further set iPhone unit builds somewhere between 130-150 million if things continue to unfold the way it has so far. The iPhone 13 lineup is on an exponential trajectory and has already registered a 10% build increase YoY right away.

The analyst has a strong belief in his “super-cycle” thesis and that it will do well in 2022. According to this, an estimated 250 million out of 975 million iPhone devices are in line for an upgrade. Ives hasn’t altered his outperform rating for Apple and his 12-month price target of $185 which has been formulated based on a sum-of-the-part valuation on his Apple 2022 estimates.

OPPO Smart TV K9 with 75-inch display confirmed to launch on September 26

OPPO has scheduled a launch event in China on 26th September for launching the K9 Pro smartphone. Today, the company has officially confirmed to launch another product at the same event — OPPO Smart TV K9.

It’s noteworthy that the company has already launched three models in the OPPO Smart TV K9 series in March this year, which comes with three different display sizes — 43-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch. The addition of the upcoming 75-inch display model will make it the top-end product in the series.

The teaser poster shared by the company related to the launch of the 75-inch Smart TV K9 reveals that the device supports 1.07 billion colors. It is likely to have the same specifications as the other models in the lineup, including support for HDR 10+, 93% DCI-P3 color gamut, and blue-light protection.

We expect the device to come powered by MediaTek MT9652 chipset which consists of four ARM Cortex-A73 CPU cores and ARM Mali-G52 MC1 GPU — same as the 65-inch model that has already been launched in China.

In the software department, the Smart TV will be running the ColorOS TV 2.0 operating system based on Android. It will come with 16GB of internal storage and support Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth 5.0 as connectivity options.

The TV is likely to ship with Bluetooth voice and NFC-enabled remote control for Xiaobu AI assistant and to share content from OPPO smartphones. Earlier this week, Realme announced the Realme GT Neo2 smartphone in China. Fresh information reveals that the company could be working on a new Snapdragon 7-series chip phone that will come equipped with a high refresh rate display.

According to Digital Chat Station, Realme will be soon launching a Snapdragon 778G SoC-powered handset. He added that this phone will be flaunting a 144Hz LCD panel with eye protection feature, which will probably safeguard eyes from blue rays. Unfortunately, there is no information on the final product name of the device.

Another tipster has claimed that the RMX3461/RMX3463 smartphone that was spotted at TENAA certification yesterday is the upcoming Snapdragon 778G SoC powered from Realme.

The TENAA listing of the Realme RMX3461/RMX3463 revealed that it has a 6.59-inch LTPS LCD panel that offers an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels. The display punch-hole houses a 16-megapixel selfie snapper, and its back panel has a 48-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit.

OPPO will be unveiling the OPPO K9 Pro smartphone at 5 PM (local time) on Sept. 26 in China. Ahead of the launch, the Chinese manufacturer has released a couple of posters on Weibo to confirm its key features.

The OPPO K9 Pro posters revealed that it will be equipped with an AMOLED panel with a punch-hole design. It will support a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. The 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset will be present under the hood of the device.

The K9 Pro will be backed by a 4,500mAh battery, which will carry support for 60W SuperVOOC fast charging. It will be equipped with an aerospace-grade heat dissipation system, which can effectively reduce the core CPU temperature by 17-degree Celsius. It offers a big heat dissipation area of 14400mm².

The rear shell of the OPPO K9 Pro features a 64-megapixel triple camera unit. The handset measures 8.5mm in thickness and weighs 190 grams. It offers connectivity features like Wi-Fi 6, 5G, and NFC.

Samsung Electronics is reportedly in talks with electric carmaker Tesla for the next-generation self-driving chips based on the South Korean giant’s 7-nanometer (7nm) chip production process, as per the new reports.

The report, coming from Korean Economic Daily, claims that both the companies — Tesla and Samsung, have discussed chip design multiple times and have also exchanged chip prototypes for the upcoming Hardware 4 self-driving system from Tesla.

If Samsung gets the contract from Tesla, then the company is expected to start production using the 7nm process. This is likely to happen as Samsung is already producing Tesla’s current-generation Hardware 3 computers.

Samsung is manufacturing 5nm chips but will be using the 7nm process to manufacture chips for Tesla’s Hardware 4 self-driving computer to ensure higher production yields and stable functions of the chip when installed.

While the timeline for the production of the Hardware 4 is not yet known, but we expect it to get started in a couple of months given that Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed during the AI Day event last month that the new hardware for its self-driving technology for the Cybertruck will be released in about a year or so.

Samsung is currently the second-largest contract chip manufacturer in the world, just behind TSMC. While Samsung holds 17.3 percent of the market share, Taiwan-based TSMC is miles ahead with a massive 52.9 percent market share.

In the past few years, the South Korean giant has picked up pace when it comes to chip manufacturing and is trying to catch up with TSMC. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset is being manufactured by Samsung and the company is also opening its doors to other companies and other types or non-smartphone chips.

Motorola Edge 20 Pro launch date for India confirmed

After teasing the arriving of the arrival of the Edge 20 Pro flagship for a few days, Motorola has finally confirmed it will be announced at 12 PM (local time) on Oct. 1. A landing page for Edge 20 Pro is now live on Flipkart. It mentions the key features and specifications of the smartphone.

The Flipkart landing page reveals that the Motorola Edge 20 Pro will support 11 5G bands and it will run on a near-stock version of Android 11, and it will be receiving Android 12 and 13 upgrades in the future. The flagship phone will also be provided with 2 years of security updates.

The Edge 20 Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel that offers a 144Hz refresh rate, a 576Hz touch sampling rate, and 10-bit colors. It has a front camera of 32-megapixel, and its rear camera setup has a 108-megapixel main camera, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens that can also capture macro shots, an 8-megapixel OIS-enabled telephoto camera, an audio zoom microphone, and LED flash The triple cameras promise up to 50x zoom and up to 8K video recording.

The Edge 20 Pro will feature a Snapdragon 870 chipset and 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The handset houses a 4,500mAh battery that carries support for 30W TurboPower charging. It will be available in Midnight Sky and Iridescent Cloud colors. The smartphone will offer other features like 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, IP52 water-repellent design, Wi-Fi 6 & MIMO, and audio tuning technology from Waves.

The Snapdragon 778G SoC powered Edge 20 was introduced with a price tag of Rs 29,999 (~$406) in India. Hence, the Edge 20 Pro with 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage may cost around Rs 35,000 (~$474) in the country.

Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Pad 5 aptly renamed Xiaomi Pad 5 in Europe on September 15. The device was billed to go on sale on September 23. Rightly, the Xiaomi Pad 5 opened for its first sale today with the sale set to last for 24 hours. Apparently, the Chinese company misjudged the interest in the device as it was sold out completely in less than 10 minutes across all channels.

Although we don’t know the number of units that were made available for this sale, the sale reflects the strong demand for the tablet. For a tablet, this is surprising but then, the pandemic era has seen a spike in the demand for tablets. Moreso, it is been a while since Xiaomi last updated its tablet lineup. We can’t also ignore the fact that at €299/£299, the Pad 5 is super-affordable. The sleek design, decent hardware, and pocket-friendly pricing definitely contributed to the high demand.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Pad 5 is equipped with a large 11-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, a high refresh rate of 120Hz, a PPI of up to 275, and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. The slate is powered by the Snapdragon 860 processor paired with 6GB RAM. The device comes in two storage options – 128GB and 256GB.

The Pad 5 also excels in the camera department, packing a single 13MP camera with LED flash at the rear. For selfies, there is a single 8MP camera at the front which also supports Face unlock. It also features four built-in speakers.

The Mi Pad 5 packs an 8720mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It runs on the new MIUI For Pad operating system. The MIUI For Pad brings features such as custom input methods, split screens, small windows, parallel windows, and other functions.

Design

Each of these devices has its pro and cons when it comes to design. The iPhone 13 has a 20 percent smaller notch above the display, which makes the screen to body ratio higher. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro has a higher build quality. While the vanilla iPhone 13 comes with a glass back and an aluminum frame, the iPhone 12 Pro has a glass back and a stainless steel frame. Both the handsets feature the Ceramic Shield for improved resistance to drops and scratches, as well as the IP68 certification which makes them waterproof and dustproof. Display

If we exclude the dimensions of the notch, the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 12 Pro are equipped with the same display panel. It is a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a diagonal of 6.1 inches, a Full HD+ resolution, the HDR10 certification, Dolby Vision support, and a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits. There are no differences in terms of display specifications. Unfortunately, there is no iPhone with a fingerprint reader, but these handsets come with 3D facial recognition thanks to the SL 3D sensor placed inside the notch. Thanks to 3D facial recognition, you can have the most advanced and the safest authentication methods.

Specs & Software

The iPhone 13 has a higher-end chipset: the Apple A15 Bionic which provides up to 50 percent higher CPU performance compared to the Apple A14 Bionic found on the iPhone 12 Pro, as well as 30 percent higher GPU performance. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro is equipped with a higher amount of RAM: 6 GB instead of 4 GB. However, having a better chipset is definitely better than having 2 gigs more RAM. Note that iPhone 13 ships with iOS 15 out of the box, while iPhone 12 Pro ships with iOS 14. This means that iPhone 13 will get longer software support.

Camera

On the paper, the iPhone 12 Pro is the most advanced camera phone. On the rear side, it has one more important sensor if compared to the iPhone 13: we are talking about a 12 MP telephoto sensor which enables 2x optical zoom. Further, the iPhone 12 Pro adds a 3D LiDAR scanner for AR appliances which is another added value for its camera department. The main sensors are the same, as well as the ultrawide camera and the front camera, all with 12 Mp resolutions.

A big advantage of the iPhone 13 over the iPhone 12 Pro is its bigger battery: with a capacity of 3240 mAh instead of just 2815 mAh. Thanks to the bigger battery, the iPhone 13 can provide a way longer battery life even though its dimensions are the same as the 12 Pro. Both the phones support 20W fast charging, 15W MagSafe wireless charging, and 7.5W Qi wireless charging.

The starting price of the vanilla iPhone 13 for the European market is €899, while the same phone costs $799 in the U.S. The prices are referred to the base variant with 128 GB of native storage. The iPhone 12 Pro started from $999, but its prices dropped and you can now find it at similar prices to the iPhone 13, with a bit of luck. The iPhone 13 is a better phone when it comes to hardware and battery, but the iPhone 12 Pro is superior if we talk about cameras and build quality. Amazon unveils the Echo Studio Billie Eilish Limited Edition

The Echo Studio is Amazon’s best-ever Echo as it automatically senses the acoustics of its location and is then fine-tuned to enhance audio playback for an optimal sound performance. Amazon has now unveiled a Limited-edition model of the Echo Studio designed in partnership with singer and songwriter Billie Eilish.

The new Echo Studio Billie Eilish Limited Edition has a six-month bundle of Amazon Music Unlimited and offers one of the most immersive audio from Eilish’s highly-rated album tagged Happier Than Ever. The spatial audio format available from Amazon Music Unlimited, adds space, clarity, and depth to the music. The new Billie Eilish collection is available from September 22 on pre-order for $230.

While the global availability of the limited-edition Amazon Echo featuring Billie Eilish, the first units could arrive by October 2021. The purchase is inclusive of a six-month subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited. Billie Eilish is also promoting the Amazon Echo. She said that she cannot wait any further for her fans to listen to her new album in spatial audio via Amazon Music Unlimited.

The Echo Studio combines several features like the 5.25-inch woofer, 1-inch tweeter, 2-inch midrange speakers, as well as a 24-bit DAC and a 100kHz power amplifier. The device also has Alexa support, thus opening the field for voice control of the Echo.

These are indeed “tough times” for US tech giant Apple as it continues to grapple with the embarrassing leakage of its trade secrets and unreleased product information by insiders. The company had put in place several in-house measures to curb the embarrassing trend but it continues. There are still Apple employees who trade vital product information for money to the detriment of the company.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has had a raw deal of the seeming effective syndicate, as his email to employees last week on these problems was predictably leaked to a third party and ultimately found its way to the public domain. In the email, according to sources, Cook had asserted that Apple is using every means to identify the sources of such product leaks, stressing that such persons do not belong to the Apple family. A recent September 17th meeting was leaked and the CEO was also not happy about how his response to the ruling in the Epic Vs Apple case was also leaked.

The Cook email also thanked all Apple employees for their efforts in sustaining the brand, while also noting some new product releases like the iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and watchOS 8, as well as other products slated for release. Even with a raft of measures put in place to curb leakage of its trade secrets, Apple seems to be playing catch up with the leakers, as they have continued to expose confidential Apple information at an amazing rate. The company may have to seek other measures to prevent leaks and identify the inside sources who continually release confidential information about upcoming products.
