Huawei had recently revealed the September 23 launch date for its upcoming Nova 9 series of smartphones. The company has been teasing this new lineup prior to its launch and has now released a short film to showcase the camera of the new smartphones.
The brand shared the new short film on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website. In the video, we can see the Chinese celebrity Yi Yang Qianxi who highlighted the device’s camera capabilities that can be used for vlogging (video blogging) through the HarmonyOS multi camera mode as well. For those unaware, the Nova 9 will sport a quad camera setup on the rear while the front facing selfie shooter will be housed in a pill shaped punch hole cutout.
Previously, the smartphone was recently certified by 3C as well as TENAA, revealing some key specifications and features. The variant that carried the model number RTE-AL00, features an OLED display with an under display fingerprint sensor. Furthermore, the series is likely to come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC, but will reportedly arrive with support for only 4G LTE connectivity and not 5G networking.
But, there’s a possibility that the company may launch a 5G variant at a later date. The Huawei Nova 9 is said to be powered by a 4,500mAh battery while the Pro variant in the lineup will reportedly pack a 4,000mAh battery but will have support for a 66W fast charging. So stay tuned for more, as we will be covering the launch event later this month.

Nubia has released its latest flagship gaming phone for the second half of the year—the REDMAGIC 6S Pro. And as you might have guessed from the name, it’s a minor upgrade to the REDMAGIC 6 Pro from the first half of the year. While we couldn’t test the old REDMAGIC 6 Pro, let’s take a look at how REDMAGIC’s latest flagship gaming phone performs.
Welcome to Gizmochina’s REDMAGIC 6S Pro review.
REDMAGIC 6S Pro Design
The REDMAGIC 6S Pro looks very similar to the REDMAGIC 6 Pro, and from a distance, the difference is barely noticeable. But the back has become more minimalistic, and the lack of RGB lighting makes the 6S Pro more of a normal phone than a gaming phone. The entire back is very smooth and feels very good in the hand.
The camera also doesn’t protrude much. It features a design that is more comfortable when playing games than other angular gaming phones. Headphone jack, Shoulder Triggers and NFC are also present.
450Hz trigger buttons
As a gaming phone, the REDMAGIC 6S Pro is well-made, and it would have been perfect if the plastic protective layer around the screen was made smaller.
REDMAGIC 6S Pro Review: Design
Both REDMAGIC 6S Pro and REDMAGIC 6 Pro have similar screens featuring 165Hz, FHD+, OLED display. With diamond-like pixel arrangement, there is no gap between the clarity and Samsung’s screen. There is no hole-punch or notch as it is a complete screen, and the thickened upper and lower bezels make it suitable for two-handed gaming. The only drawback that can be felt more obviously is the tendency to squint at green. The front view does not have this problem, and the colors are gorgeous. There is no doubt that it is an excellent screen.
As a gaming phone, what we are concerned about is what has been done to optimize the gaming experience. Shoulder Triggers are now upgraded a bit compared to the previous generation, while the touch sampling rate is upgraded to 450Hz. And the new addition of the back touch area, plus Shoulder Triggers can quickly perform three or four operations at the same time. However, the back of the touch area does not make a distinction between different touch gestures, so you have to practice more to become proficient in operation. The game toolbar also gets a new design, both sides can be swiped to call out the toolbar. Red Magic OS also includes some redesigned widgets that allow you to visually see your heartbeat, game time, and more. A number of game-related quick switches can be easily opened when you need them.
REDMAGIC 6S Pro Review: Gaming & Performance
REDMAGIC 6S Pro upgrades the processor to Snapdragon 888+.
LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 are also our old friends. Although this year’s Snapdragon flagship chips are very hot, REDMAGIC’s built-in fan design is not for show.
REDMAGIC 6S Pro Review -Antutu 3dmark
With the fan on the strongest mode, Antutu Bench ran the highest score ever — 870,163. In 3DMark it got 5897, while in Geekbench 5 the phone got a single-core score of 1146 and a multi-core score of 3686.
The gaming performance is as good as ever, with PUBG being able to turn on 90 FPS mode in Smooth Graphics, and the frame rate curve is very smooth. But We know PUBG is not stressful to gaming phones at all.
Genshin Impact’s frame rate curve is not as stable, but the average frame rate of 56 FPS is very impressive. The frame rate doesn’t fluctuate significantly either. Brightridge being the most processor demanding game, the average frame rate of 48FPS is also very impressive compared to other non-gaming phones.
The built-in fan can ensure your processor has a stable frame rate throughout, but it does not guarantee that the external temperature will come down. The back of the phone can reach up to 53 degrees Celsius, so if you want the external temperature to come down as well, it’s recommended to buy a cooler.
REDMAGIC 6S Pro Review: Camera
Because the REDMAGIC 6S Pro is a gaming-focused phone, we’ll only go over the camera part briefly.
Main Camera
The color of the camera is not very bright, but it’s closer to the real color. The resolution is good and the HDR strength is very strong.
The 6S Pro is not as good as it could be at night, especially with the Ultrawide Camera which does not have a night mode, but the main camera with night mode is fine for most everyday scenes.

Night Mode
Ultra-Wide Camera
The Ultra Wide Angle camera is good for most occasions but the absence of a night mode for wide shots is a drawback.

Macro Camera

As for the macro lens, it can be used occasionally when there is enough light. But don’t expect it to have great image quality.
REDMAGIC 6S Pro Review: Battery Life & Charging
The charger and charging cable are included in the box. But like the 6 Pro, although the phone supports 66W wired charging, the charger inside the box is only 30W. But because you can use the built-in fan to reduce the temperature when charging, so you can almost always charge at full power.
5 minutes tops up the battery to 11%, another half an hour to 62%, and 55 minutes to full charge. Although the 6S Pro has a large 5050mAh battery, it consumes more power in the gaming section because of its high performance. 20 minutes of Genshin Impact and Brightridge consume 18% and 16% respectively, 10% for PUBG. Daily applications do not consume a lot of power as 1080P online video only consumes 2% and while Tiktok around 5%.
REDMAGIC 6S Pro Review: Verdict
REDMAGIC 6S Pro is not a significant upgrade compared to the 6 Pro in the first half of the year. If you already have the REDMAGIC 6 Pro, there is no need to buy the 6S Pro. But If you want to buy a gaming phone now, you can definitely check out the REDMAGIC 6S Pro.
After all, REDMAGIC’s flagship phones should be one of the few devices that can leverage Snapdragon 888+’s full power output, not to mention that built-in fan works really very well.
We all know that Samsung has partnered with AMD to bring RDNA GPU architecture to its Exynos mobile chipsets. Thanks to the latest information, we have now learned which phones will be using what type of AMD mRDNA GPU.
According to a user on Clien (via @FrontTron), Samsung will be using three different types of AMD mRDNA GPU for its Exynos mobile SoCs. They will differ in terms of cores and clock speeds.
The flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S series will be getting a 6-core GPU at an unspecified clock rate. Whereas, the mid-range and budget handsets like the Galaxy A series are said to use 4-core and 2-core GPUs respectively.
Further, the mRDNA GPU for the Galaxy A series-like devices is being currently tested at 1GHz. Since these are less expensive phones, their Exynos chips will be using ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores instead of the X series. The performance throttling of these silicons is reportedly around 10%.
Unfortunately, the source does not say the exact smartphone models that will be using these new Exynos SoC. However, he does reveal that the 4-core mRDNA GPU-equipped Exynos chipset will be supplied to Chinese handset makers.
Do you think Samsung will be finally able to take on Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek with its upcoming Exynos mobile platforms with AMD GPU? Do let us know in the comment section below.

Samsung has just showcased a new display technology at the Global Tech Korea 2021 event earlier today (9th September 2021). The new panel is an OLED panel that can be stretched, which could be the next step display technology might take in the near future similar to how foldable panels became more accessible.
The South Korean tech giant’s display unit demonstrated the new stretchable OLED panel in the tech expo. While this isn’t the first time we have seen a stretchable display, but Samsung showcasing its progress in the technology also implies of it eventually making its way to the mass consumer market in the future. The world’s largest smartphone maker even shared a video that showcased the 13 inch OLED panel in the Global Tech Korea event.
Looking at this video, we can observe lava being displayed on the screen while the panel itself is stretched outwards through a mechanism. As per SamMobile, this element of the display that quite literally adds another dimension to the 2D surface of a screen. At the moment, the practicality for this technology for consumer electronic products like smartphones is currently unknown. Although, Samsung develops various types of displays that could be fit a better fit for this technology. Xiaomi has just announced that its upcoming Mi 11T and Mi 11T Pro will receive around “three generations” of Android OS updates, which also includes four years of security updates as well.
The Chinese tech giant shared the news on an official blog post earlier today (9th September 2021) on its official website. The Mi 11T series is set to be launched on September 15 and is the latest flagship series from the company. Apart from just announcing the four years of update for the two smartphones, the brand is also considering the possibility of bringing the extended Android OS and security updates to its other existing handsets as well.
Although, it is unlikely that the company would include its budget series of devices for the extended software support, but its flagship phones like the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra would most likely be eligible for the extended update cycle. Albert Shan, company’s head of product and technology, stated that “It is not a simple task for Xiaomi and its team to provide system updates and security patches to all of its previous smartphone models. However, the prospect of this challenge and meeting the desires of our customers is exciting.”
Mi 11 Pro & Mi 11 Ultra
As of right now, South Korean giant Samsung is the only Android brand that gives four years of security update and three years of OS updates for its smartphone offerings. Similarly, OnePlus has also promised to provide four years of security updates, however, it is only limited to its premium grade flagships. For those unaware, the Mi 11T series is the latest Xiaomi budget flagship lineup that will offer top notch specs like Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and up to 120Hz fast charging support.
Last week, the CMO of realme India confirmed the existence of the realme 9 series. He also said that the brand will be revealing more details about these phones at the launch event for realme 8i, realme 8s, and realme Pad today (September 9). But unfortunately, the company did not say much about these handsets, except that the release will be delayed.
At the end of today’s launch event, realme revealed that the realme 9 series will be launching in 2022. The brand also confirmed that the upcoming devices will adopt ‘fantastic mainstream processors’.
Since realme’s inception, the brand has been releasing two number series smartphones every year. This streak is now broken. Perhaps, this is the big announcement that the company’s CMO teased a few days ago.
At the end of last month, a tipster said that the realme 9 series will launch in India in October ahead of Diwali festive season in early November. Now, we know that it will be not the case.
Just today, realme introduced two more models in the realme 8 series in the form of realme 8i and realme 8s. The lineup already had three devices earlier, namely realme 8, realme 8 Pro, and realme 8 5G. We believe these five phones are enough for customers until the launch of the realme 9 series.
According to previous reports, the forthcoming realme 9 series will likely include four models, such as realme 9, realme 9 Pro, realme 9 Prime, and realme 9A. There could be also two realme Note 9 smartphones – realme Note 9 and realme Note 9 Prime.
Yandex is planning on starting field tests for its self driving taxis in Moscow, Russia. This would allow the people living in the Capital city to experience the future by taking a ride in the new autonomous vehicles later this year.
The Russian tech based firm made the announced earlier this week, revealing its plans for a late 2021 testing phase. For those unaware, Yandex runs a vast majority of services in the region, ranging from online search to even food delivery, and for the past three years, the company is also looking to test self driving technology in Russia, Israel, and even the United States of America.
According to the tech giant, Robotaxis will be available from its Yandex.Go application in one Moscow district for certain customers. The company added that “The launch in Yasenevo is the first stage of a large Yandex project to launch driverless taxis. Over time, there will be more cars, the number of locations you can go to and from will increase, and ever more people will be able to hail driverless taxis.”
Unfortunately, the Russian legislation does not permit such autonomous vehicles to travel without a person at the wheel as of right now. Although, there are exception based on special economic zones, like the city of Innopolis in the Tatarstan region. Furthermore, there is also a restriction on their use in certain areas of large cities that could be partially lifted after a law recently came into force earlier this year. At the moment, Yandex owns a sizeable 170 driverless cars that have collectively traveled over 14 million kilometers. It has even employed robots that deliver restaurant meals in central Moscow.

A new report has revealed that Microsoft aims on refreshing both of its newly launched consoles late next year. The first to receive the refresh would be the cheaper Xbox Series S, which will apparently house a refreshed AMD APU that is based on a 6nm process with higher compute units.
The information arrives from a new video from Moore’s Law Is Dead (MLID) on YouTube. In the video, the tech based content creator stated that the Series S 2022 variant will feature a 6nm process that is a more refined version of the 7nm process. In other words, Microsoft can expect to see higher yields that could allow it to offer 24 Compute Units from its Xbox Series S APU.
This is higher than the existing version of the Series S, which currently features just 20 Compute Units but has as many as 4 of these disabled to preserve good yields and to keep the supply of consoles more consistent. To put things simply, the noticeably higher Compute Units would allow for higher clock speeds, which the YouTuber claims can make the new Series S up to 50 percent faster.
Although, with higher performance, the a more expensive price tag is also expected. But, the Series S sits as an entry console so Microsoft might launch this 2022 refreshed version for 350 US Dollars, which is about 50 US Dollars more than the original variant. Meanwhile, the older Series S model could see a potential price slash as well. MLID believes that the new lowered price tag could be somewhere around 189 to 249 US Dollars. However, that would imply that the company will continue selling both consoles together.

Earlier today (9th September 2021), Huawei announced that it will be hosting a new event later this month on September 13. Now, the company even shared a new teaser for its upcoming laptops.
The Chinese tech giant is gearing up for the launch of new notebooks from its MateBook lineup of laptops and shared a teaser on its official Weibo account. On the Chinese microblogging website, an image poster can be seen that showcases a laptop from the side that acts as the hour and minute hands of a clock with the numbers being swapped with various different applications. However, these apps are based on the Android platform, so the company is clearly hinting at the new laptops supporting smartphone applications from Android.
Taking a look at these apps, it includes some of the most popular apps in China. This includes Douyin, which is basically a Chinese version of TikTok, along with an app that is similar to Yelp in the region called Dianping. Finally, we can also see the Himalayan Tingshu app as well, which is the Himalayan Podcast application. In other words, users will be the option use these applications on the laptop. While Windows 11 will bring support for Android apps, Microsoft will not be including this feature on launch. Meaning, Huawei is not simply shipping the laptops with the new Windows but is working on its own emulation based system or another new software that allows the use of these Android apps on Windows.
Recent reports have hinted at the company aiming on releasing new laptops called MateBook 13S and 14S, which are 13 and 14 inch notebooks. A Weibo tipster @北午数码鲲 stated that the 14 inch model can run Android applications thanks to Huawei’s self developed mobile application engine. So stay tuned for more updates, as we will be covering the September 13 launch event.
Ulefone Armor 12 5G was launched a few weeks ago with useful specifications at a genuine price. Apart from the flawless performance, the device is designed to offer a premium sound experience with the Dual HiFi Speaker and Headset-free FM Radio. The presence of dual speakers optimizes and enhances the user experience.
In the video above, the company has compared the Ulefone Armor 12 5G with the iPhone to practically verify its prowess in the sound department. Technically, the smartphone comes with dual 1216 superlinear speakers which are symmetrically located inside a 1.6cc-equivalent super large sound cavity. Speakers offer up to 0.65mm sound amplitude with 7 magnetic sound units and have maximum loudness of up to 110db.

Recently, OnePlus merged with its sister brand OPPO. Hence, changes were expected. In fact, the company has already started using ColorOS. Now, according to the latest rumor, the brand that was once known for flagship killer phones in India might enter the budget smartphone category.
As per tipster Yogesh Brar, OnePlus might release sub-₹20,000 smartphones in India in the near future. These devices are estimated to hit the market as early as Q4 2021 or Q2 2022. The upcoming affordable handsets from the company will likely use the ‘Nord’ branding.
OnePlus already sells budget phones in some regions. But this will be the first time for India, a market where the brand has been leading in the premium smartphone category for quite some time.
Unlike the premium segment, the budget category in India is too competitive. There are players like Redmi, realme, and even Samsung to some extent. Let’s not forget the Transsion brands (Infinix, TECNO) either.
All these brands offer great hardware at affordable price tags. The software is probably the common problem among these handsets, except for Samsung, which is doing fine.
At present, it’s not known what set of features OnePlus’ budget smartphones for India will offer. We are looking forward to learning more about these devices in the coming days.
About a month ago, Google had unveiled the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro flagship smartphones, revealing that the premium smartphones from the brand will get officially launched in a couple of months.
Now, Google has released the first advertisement for the upcoming premium Pixel 6 series smartphones. The 30-second video teaser, which carries the tagline “For All You Are,” shows the real, non-rendered device for the first time.
The video highlights the new Android 12 user interface elements. It asks viewers “What if smartphones weren’t just smart?” and “What if your phone saw you for who you are?”
Google is not showing the phone’s display but the teaser shows that the bottom bezel on the device is a bit thicker compared to the three other sides. There’s also a shot of someone picking up the face-down Pixel 6 Pro model in Gold color. This is the first time a live model of the smartphone is shown instead of a rendered design.
There’s also a shot of people holding the Pixel 6 in different color variants — Pixel 6 Pro in Gold, Pixel 6 Pro in White, Pixel 6 in Green/Teal, and Pixel 6 in Orange.
The company is highlighting three aspects of the Pixel 6 lineup — Learning, Evolving, and Adapting. It showcases Google’s custom chip and considers the upcoming phones “first-ever, all Google.” It also sheds light on the Material You design of Android 12 and Dynamic Color theming support.
Google reiterates that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be officially launched and made available for purchase in Fall 2021, however, the exact date hasn’t been revealed. If the reports are to be believed, then the phones could go on sale from 28th October.
So far, the search engine giant has revealed some key details about the upcoming phones even though the full specifications sheet hasn’t been shared. The Pixel 6 comes with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display offering a 90Hz refresh rate while the Pro model has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display offering a 120Hz refresh rate.
The highlight of the Pixel 6 series remains its processor as the phones will come powered by Google’s own chipset — Tensor, which the company says is made especially for Pixel devices. Apart from on-device AI and ML capability, the chip is also claimed to have significant improvement in translation, captioning, and dictation. The chipset is likely to be an unreleased Samsung Exynos 9855 SoC.
The standard model features a dual-camera setup on the back while the Pixel 6 Pro has a triple-camera setup that includes a wide-angle lens, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 4x telephoto lens. The photography performance is expected to top the charts as the chipset is focused on photo output and uses artificial intelligence along with machine learning.
