Google gives us an early preview of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro powered by Google Tensor

Google is taking charge of the narrative when it comes to details about its unreleased products. Today, it has shared several details of the upcoming Pixel 6 series along with images and even a promotional video.

Pixel 6 series featured

The official “Made By Google” Twitter account made a thread that gives a rundown of the design and features of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro ahead of their release later this fall. There is so much info, and if you are a Pixel fan, you should be excited.

Design

Starting with the design. Google has confirmed that the CAD renders we saw back in May are accurate. The Pixel 6 series will indeed have that protruding camera bar, however, the space above the bar is bigger on the pro model. The two phones will also have a centered punch hole camera.

The camera bar will house three cameras on the Pixel 6 Pro, one of which is a telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. The Pixel 6 gets two cameras, none of which has a telephoto lens.

There will be a SIM tray slot at the bottom of the left side of the frame while the power button and volume control will be on the right side of the frame. The frame is curved and we can confirm it is made of metal as there are antenna lines visible around it.

Both the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro will be available in three different colors with a dual-tone finish, however, you will be able to pick up both phones in gray.

Google Tensor

The Google chipset codenamed “whitechapel” now has an official name and it is Google Tensor. This is Google’s first smartphone SoC and its main strength is its ability to process powerful AI and machine learning models directly on the device. Google says we should “see a transformed experience for the camera, speech recognition, and many other Pixel 6 features.”

Google also claims that the processor allows for significant improvement in translation, captioning, and dictation. The Pixel 6 series will also feature the most layers of hardware security (based on the count of separate hardware security layers) in any phone.

Software

Google will show the full range of its Material You design on the Pixel 6 series and the video below shows the themes, new widgets, and color schemes that will be available on the phones.

Pixel 6 series Availability

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be unveiled in Fall 2021 and you can sign up to be informed about its availability on the Google Store.

Xiaomi might launch a ‘Smart Pedestal Fan’ in India

Apart from smartphones, Xiaomi is known for its ecosystem products. The company sells a wide variety of products worldwide. However, most of them are limited to China. But some of them do make their way to global markets. One of those is Mi Smart Standing Fan 2. Now, according to new information, this product might launch in India.

Xiaomi Smart Pedestal Fan

The Xiaomi Mi Community has been banned in India since last year. Hence, the company uses an official Telegram channel called Mi Fans India (Official) to share important updates with users and fans.

Recently, the company sent out a survey in this channel (via @i_hsay) asking preferences for a smart pedestal fan. Since the firm uses the images as well as specs of the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2, it should be the one launching in India.

Anyway, the product will most likely sport a different branding for India. Because the country never got the first model of this smart fan. Hence, why will it introduce it as Mi Smart Standing Fan 2? Secondly, the firm uses the generic name of this product in the survey, which is ‘Smart Pedestal Fan’.

That being said, we expect Xiaomi to announce this smart fan for India at its annual Smarter Living event sometime later in September.

Honor is back in the segment of the premium smartphones with an amazing upper-midrange phone: Honor 50 Pro. It will soon be launched even in the global market with Google Mobile Services as the brand is now fully separated from Huawei and under another company. Another brand that recently came up with an upper-midrange phone which is coming soon in the global market is Realme: it announced the amazing Realme GT Master Edition with customized design. Should you prefer the Honor 50 Pro or wait for the arrival of the Realme GT Master Edition? This comparison will hopefully give you an answer to this question.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES Dual SIM slot, 5G Dual SIM slot, 5G

Design

Both these phones hitten the market with an astonishing design. The Honor 50 Pro has an amazing glass back with a matte but brilliant finish made with a process similar to OPPO’s Reno Glow. It also sports a curved edge to edge display. The Realme GT Master Edition does not have a curved display but it comes with a customized design realized by the known Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. The design of the Realme GT Master Edition is made of eco leather (not in every color variant) and it reminds of a suitcase. The Realme GT Master Edition is also a more compact phone than Honor 50 Pro, so it is better for one-handed use.

Display

On the paper, the display of the Honor 50 Pro is superior to the one of its opponent. First of all, it is wider with a diagonal of 6.72 inches. Further, it is an OLED panel that is able to show up to one billion colors, while Realme GT Master Edition stops at 16 million colors. The handset also offers a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Realme GT Master Edition has an AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate as well, but the color reproduction is more realistic on the Honor 50 Pro. The phones come with an under-display fingerprint reader for authentication. Note that the Honor 50 Pro has a dual punch hole, while its rival has just a single hole in the display.

Specs & Software

We decided to compare the Honor 50 Pro to the Realme GT Master Edition because they are powered by the same chipset: the Snapdragon 778G by Qualcomm. Alongside the Snapdragon 780G (which is not in production anymore), the Snapdragon 778G is the most powerful Qualcomm’s midrange processor. If you want something better, you have to move to the Snapdragon 800 series including flagship SoCs. The Honor 50 Pro wins the hardware comparison because it offers more RAM in its best configuration: up to 12 GB. The phones run Android 11 with Realme UI and Magic UI to customize it, respectively.

Camera

The most advanced camera phone of this comparison is the Honor 50 Pro. First of all, it has a better main sensor for the rear camera, with a resolution of 108 MP and an f/1.9 focal aperture. Further, the Honor 50 Pro has a better front camera setup including a 32 MP main sensor and a 12 MP additional camera for ultrawide selfies. Not only it is a better front camera setup than Realme GT Master Edition, but it is one of the best selfie phones in the current market.

Battery

If you need more battery life, choose the Realme GT Master Edition because it features a bigger battery. With a capacity of 4300 mAh, you will get more juice to reach the end of the day without going out of charge. On the other hand, if you need the fastest charging technology, you should go for the Honor 50 Pro. With a power of 100W, it can fully charge its 4000 mAh battery in just 25 minutes.

Price

The Honor 50 Pro has a starting price of €590/$700 in the Asian market, while Realme GT Master Edition begins at just €320/$380. If we exclude the battery life, the Honor 50 Pro is a superior phone, but you can save a lot of money by choosing the Realme GT Master Edition without facing a lot of compromises.

  • Better front cameras

Leaked list of upcoming HMD Global devices include Nokia T20 tablet and Nokia G300

HMD Global announced three new phones last week – the Nokia XR20, the Nokia C30, and the Nokia 6310. A new leak has revealed that there’s a handful of more devices coming, and if all goes well, they all should launch before the end of the year.

HMD Global Logo

The source of the leak is Evan Blass, the prolific leaker who goes by @evleaks on Twitter. Earlier today, he revealed a list of upcoming Nokia devices from HMD Global, some of which are familiar.

The list includes the Nokia T20 tablet that leaked last week. It also has the Nokia G50, a device that was spotted on a UK retailer’s website a few weeks ago. The tweet reveals the Nokia T20 is codenamed “Riddler” while the Nokia G50 is codenamed “Punisher”.

Other devices mentioned by the leaker are the Nokia G300 codenamed “Aoki” and the Nokia X100 which is referred to internally as “Deadmau5”. Unfortunately, the specifications of these devices were not revealed but may surface in a future leak. Regardless, we want to believe the Nokia G300 and Nokia X100 may be upper mid-range devices.

Upcoming Moto E20 and Lenovo K14 are one and the same

Motorola recently unveiled the Edge 20 series of premium and upper mid-range smartphones. Just a few days later, information regarding the brand’s new entry-level handset appears on the web. As per findings, this phone will be also releasing with Lenovo branding.

Motorola Moto E7 Power Tahiti Blue Featured
Motorola Moto E7 Power

Lately, Lenovo has been releasing multiple Motorola-branded smartphones with its own branding. Hence, it’s not surprising to learn that the upcoming Moto E20 will be also sold as Lenovo K14 in some markets.

According to a report by MySmartPrice, these handsets have been certified by Bluetooth SIG and TÜV Rheinland with model number XT-2155. The former confirms them to arrive with Bluetooth 5.0, whereas the latter reveals the presence of a 3760mAh battery with support for 10W charging.

Unfortunately, the certifications do not say anything else other than the above-mentioned parameters. Anyway, since this device is a Moto E series phone, it should have lower specs than the cheapest Moto G series smartphone at the moment, which happens to be Moto G10.

For those unaware, the Moto G10 comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD panel, Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC, 48MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) quad-camera setup, 8MP selfie camera, fingerprint sensor, IP52 rating for dust/water resistance, Android 11, 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging.

As of now, the launch dates of both Motorola Moto E20 and Lenovo K14 are a mystery. But we expect to learn more about this one and the same handset before its official announcement.

Here’s the MagDart Wallet: Realme’s version of the MagSafe Wallet

Realme is going all out with its MagDart technology, its take on Apple’s MagSafe. We have already seen the MagDart chargers, now renders of the MagDart Wallet which is Realme’s version of the MagSafe wallet. The renders of the new accessory also give us a good look at the Realme Flash, the first Android phone that will have support for magnetic wireless charging.

It attaches via magnets to the back of the phone and has a built-in aluminum kickstand that can prop the phone up vertically. The wallet will be able to hold up to three credit/debt cards.

The MagDart Wallet, MagDart Chargers, and Realme Flash will all be announced at an event tomorrow.

Realme GT Master Explorer Edition Hands-on: A Match for your Suitcase

As the market is getting saturated with smartphones sporting similar designs and features, it takes a work of art for a product to stand out. That’s exactly what Realme has been doing with its Master Edition series over the past couple of years.

The latest model in the lineup is the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition. If this name didn’t get your attention, then the phone’s design surely will. Like other Master Edition models which took design inspiration from everyday items in your life, this time around, the legendary Japanese product designer, Naoto Fukasawa, has taken inspiration from your everyday suitcase.

Realme GT Master Explorer Edition Hands-on: Suitcase Design

I don’t think there are a lot of people who want their smartphones to match their suitcases. Nevertheless, the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition brings a unique design to this crowded market. The phone reportedly sports the industry’s first 3D Vegan leather on the back, and it sure won’t go unnoticed.

Realme GT Master Explorer Hands on 02

Honestly, we had our reservations when we first saw the renders but after using the phone in real life, we have to agree that the overall design looks very premium. You also get Mr.Fukasawa’s signature on the back, making it suitable even for those who just want to add a unique design to their collection.

Realme GT Master Explorer Hands on 07

The Realme GT Master Explorer Edition comes in low-saturated colors like Suitcase Gray and Suitcase Apricot. As you can see in the pictures above, we’ve got the Suitcase Gray variant.

Another standout feature of this device is its 3D texture, which completes its suitcase-inspired design. Needless to say, you won’t find another phone with this design in the market.

Note that you get a matching suitcase-inspired case in the box that complements its style.

Realme GT Master Explorer Edition Hands-on: Hardware

The Realme GT Master Explorer Edition comes with one of the best displays on a Realme smartphone. The phone features a 6.55-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 480Hz touch sampling rate. It also features 10240 levels of brightness adjustments and up to 1100 nits of peak brightness. Overall, this is a flagship-grade display in 2021.
Realme GT Master Explorer Hands on 06As for the cameras, the new Master Explorer edition model features a capable IMX766 50MP primary shooter, the same as the Find X3 Pro. This CMOS sensor is a class above others in the same price range. The samples from the main camera are going to be sharp and saturated. However, the 16MP ultra-wide angle sensor is rather average for this price segment.

Realme GT Master Explorer Hands on 03

Coming to the main hardware, the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition gets the second-best processor in 2021. In many ways, Snapdragon 870 could be the chipset of choice this year because of its better thermal management, so you can expect top-notch performance from this device. Other notable features include stereo speakers and Z-axis linear motor for solid vibration feedback. Finally, the phone comes with a 4500mAh battery with 65W fast charging, ensuring that battery life won’t be a worry on this device.

Realme GT Master Explorer Hands on 05

Now coming to the most important part, the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition retails at an aggressive 2899 yuan pricing, which comes to around $449. Considering its unique design and hardware, the phone stands out in this price range.

What do you think about this unique suitcase-inspired design?

Redmi Note 10 Pro/Pro Max get ‘Dolby Atmos’ feature in India via latest MIUI update

The Redmi Note 10 Pro and the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max are the best Redmi Note smartphones to date. They come with features that were unheard of in the budget segment a couple of years ago. The handsets are now receiving a new system update, which further enhances the user experience.

Redmi Note 10 Pro Max Blue Bronze Featured
Redmi Note 10 Pro Max

The Redmi Note 10 Pro series sport dual stereo speakers for an immersive audio experience. With the new system update, the company has further enhanced the experience.

As per a user on Twitter, Xiaomi is rolling out a new OTA update for these phones in India. The latest software update arrives with build number MIUI V12.5.4.0.RKFINXM.

According to the official changelog, the main highlight of the new MIUI build is ‘Dolby effects’. Other than that, it fixes an issue with notifications and bumps up the security patch level to May 2021 when it’s already August.

The screenshots shared by the user confirm that the ‘Dolby effects’ feature is actually ‘Dolby Atmos’ and it also comes with an equalizer. Users can choose any of the default presets or create a customized setting of their own.

The Dolby Atmos on the Redmi Note 10 Pro and the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max should work while playing proper Dolby content via both speakers as well as the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The latest system update for these smartphones is being rolled out in batches in India for the past couple of weeks. Therefore, it might take some time to reach every unit. Unfortunately, it’s not known whether other regional variants will be getting this feature.

Leaked Honor X20 photos show Huawei’s influence is still strong

The Honor X20 SE will be getting a more powerful version which will launch as the Honor X20. The phone’s arrival seems to be around the corner as live photos have surfaced on the internet, and they show that Huawei’s influence is still strong.

As seen in the images below, courtesy of the trusted leaker @RODENT950, the Honor X20 will have a flat display with a pill-shaped punch hole for two front-facing cameras.

The back of the phone is where the Honor phone really gives off a Huawei vibe, no thanks to its camera housing which reminds us of the Huawei Mate 30. There are three cameras in the circular housing along with an LED flash.

The backplate is curved to provide a more comfortable grip. A fingerprint scanner is not visible which may mean that there is one under the display or under the power button. The phone has a blue coat of paint but of slightly different shades. There should be other color variants when it launches.

The specs of the Honor X20 are still unknown but a recent leak said the phone will be powered by a Dimensity 900 processor. We expect more details will surface as the launch date draws closer.

realme Flash and a MagDart charger emerge in a video

Chinese smartphone maker realme has scheduled an event titled ‘realme Magnetic Innovation Event’ for August 3. The brand has confirmed to showcase MagDart, a magnetic wireless charging solution for a wide variety of products at this conference. Ahead of that, we have been learning more about this tech for the past few days. A new video now showcases this charging technology in action.

MagDart by realme first appeared in a trademark filing early last month. A few days after that, we published an exclusive story with renders of MagDart chargers. One of these chargers and the world’s first magnetic wireless charging Android smartphone – realme Flash emerge in a video shared by XDA Developers.

The video showcases the realme Flash charging via the cube-shaped MagDart charger, which is way larger than Apple’s MagSafe puck. The size of the charger is for a reason.

As per the video, the charger seems to be capable of outputting 50W power. But it seems to be only delivering 35W power to the phone itself.

In the video, the realme Flash takes about 3 minutes to charge from 18% to 26%. Hence, it should charge fully in less than an hour.

According to previous reports, MagDart chargers will come in different shapes and sizes. They are also said to be compatible with other products like laptops, tablets, and others.

We are only a few hours away from the realme Magnetic Innovation Event. Therefore, we expect to learn everything about this technology very soon.

Huawei 100W fast charger receives 3C certification in China

Huawei has just received the 3C certification in China for its upcoming 100W fast charger. The model number for this charger is HW-200500C00 and just recently been spotted on the Chinese certification platform’s database.

Earlier this month, Honor had launched its Honor 50 series, in which, its Pro model supported 100W fast charging rates. Now, it appears that its former parent company is also seeking to launch a smartphone with 100W fast charging support as well. The certification was spotted by known Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website) tipster DigitalChatStation. Looking at the data on the website, the 100W Huawei charger will support 20V@5A.

Unfortunately, we have no idea which device will feature this high speed charging or when this smartphone will even launch. Although, the certification implies that the Chinese tech giant is probably working on/ is planning a handset that will support the fast charging rates. Recently, the company had launched the Huawei P50 series, which supports 66W fast charger. In other words, this unknown upcoming smartphone is likely a premium grade flagship. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when more information is available regarding this matter.

It will also arrive with deep protocol optimization for Cast+, DLNA, Miracast, Lelink, and more. Notably, the new image transmission technology will also support low memory footprint and strong scalability as well. The technology also offers support for 4K UHD image quality as well, which would benefit streaming media, leading the industry’s image quality PQ standard. It even offers a high energy efficiency ratio as well since it only requires to be connected to a TV’s USB for power supply while the surface temperature does not exceed 40 degrees even with long hours of usage.

Hence, people in China can get their hands on the OPPO Find X3 and the OPPO Find X3 Pro for the following price tags.

OPPO Find X3 8GB + 256GB ¥4,499 ¥500 ¥3,999

Unfortunately, OPPO is not known for running a similar promotion outside China. As a result, we don’t get to see such steep discounts on newly released OPPO smartphones in international markets.

That said, this year’s Find X series phones can be termed forgettable. Because OPPO not only gave up the lineup’s original design language but also dropped the zoom camera. But we don’t have any exact sales figures to determine their popularity.
