4nm Snapdragon 895 series production to be split between Samsung and TSMC

Qualcomm is already working on its next-generation Snapdragon 800 series processor. It has been reported that the new chipset will be called the Snapdragon 895. Details of its production have now surfaced.

Reliable Chinese leaker, Ice Universe, has revealed that the Snapdragon 895 will be a 4nm chipset and it will be manufactured by Samsung. There will also be a Snapdragon 895 Plus/Snapdragon 895+ which should launch in the second half of 2022 and will be manufactured by TSMC.

Snapdragon 732G

It is interesting to see that Qualcomm is moving to a smaller node size just a year after making the move from 7nm to 5nm. However, that isn’t to say it will no longer make 5nm chips. We should still see new Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon 700 series 5nm chips.

It has been reported that the Snapdragon 895 has the part number “SM8450”. It will have a Kryo 760 CPU, an Adreno 730 GPU, Spectra 680 ISP, and an integrated Snapdragon X65 5G modem.

It should be announced in December but we don’t know if we will see it on a phone this year or next year.

Redmi Note 10 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite: Specs Comparison

Redmi is Xiaomi’s sub-brand focused on affordable phones, but Xiaomi also releases affordable phones at the same level as some Redmi phones under its main smartphone series. We are talking about the Lite variants of the Mi series, the last of which is the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. A lot of people are wondering whether they should choose the most advanced Redmi phones or the most affordable Mi phones in the same price range, and that is the reason why we decided to publish this comparison. We compared the specifications of the Redmi Note 10 Pro to the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite in order to establish which one is the best.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES Dual SIM slot, splash resistant (IP52) Dual SIM slot, splash resistant IP53

Design

If the design is your main concern, you should go for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite without thinking twice. First of all, it is a thinner and lighter phone than Redmi Note 10 Pro. Further, it has a more attractive look and a more compact body. There is no challenge: Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is more beautiful and user-friendly when it comes to design. However, you should note that the Redmi Note 10 Pro has a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Both the phones have the IP53 certification making them dust resistant and splash resistant.

Display

The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a higher refresh rate of 120 Hz and it is more suitable to play games. However, if you are looking for the best display quality, then you should opt for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. It is one of the few affordable phones to show up to one billion colors with its extraordinary Full HD+ display. We are talking about an AMOLED panel with the HDR10 certification and a 90 Hz refresh rate. With the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, you can also get a slightly higher brightness.

Specs & Software

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite and Redmi Note 10 Pro pack the same processor: a Snapdragon 732G chipset paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage (UFS 2.2). They are able to provide the same level of performance, they have a micro SD slot and, unfortunately, they both lack 5G connectivity. Alongside the prices, the similar hardware departments are the main reason why we put these two devices in the same comparison. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite and Redmi Note 10 Pro run Android 11 out of the box, customized by MIUI 12.

Camera

The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a more interesting main camera: a 108 MP midrange-class sensor with an f/1.9 aperture. It also comes with an additional 2 MP depth sensor, even though it is pretty useless for almost every photo. Both the phones have an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a 5 MP macro camera, as well as the same 16 MP front camera. The only important difference is the main rear camera.

Battery

The Redmi Note 10 Pro wins the battery life comparison for a simple reason: it packs a much bigger battery. This is definitely the killer feature of the device if compared to the Mi 11 Lite. Xiaomi decided to equip the Mi 11 Lite with a smaller battery in order to guarantee a lightweight body and a thin design.

Price

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite price in India starts from Rs. 21,999 / $295, while in the global market you can buy it for less than €300 thanks to online street prices. The lowest listing price for Redmi Note 10 Pro in India is Rs. 16,150 / $217 (less than €300 in the global market). The Redmi Note 10 Pro provides a higher value for money mainly because of its bigger battery. The Mi 11 Lite has a better display, thinner and lighter body, but the battery is too small compared to its rival and the hardware department is the same. That is the reason why I would go for the Redmi budget phone.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite: PRO and CONS

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro

PRO

  • Great 108 MP camera
  • 120 Hz refresh rate
  • Bigger battery
  • Wider display

CONS

  • Nothing particular

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite

PRO

  • Better display
  • More compact
  • Thinner and lighter

Huawei Band 6 Pro, smart display for kids, and more to launch this month

Huawei is expected to launch a handful of products this month. While most folks are looking forward to the arrival of the Huawei P50 series, a leak has revealed there are other interesting products coming too.

The Weibo account @菊厂影业Fans, known for Huawei-related leaks and news has some of the products the Chinese manufacturer has planned for launch this month. Among them are two wearables – the Huawei Band 6 Pro and the Huawei Children’s Watch 4X Pro.

Huawei July Product lineup

We are surprised about the Band 6 Pro as it is coming just three months after the standard version was announced. However, the Children’s Watch 4X was released last July, so a successor is expected.

Huawei will also announce a smart display for kids, following in the footsteps of Amazon who unveiled a kids version of the Echo Show 5 back in May. Its Smart Screen (read smart TV) S series will also get a pro model while the Smart Screen X series will come in a new size.

The leaker adds that Huawei will not be announcing new notebooks this month. So, if you have been looking forward to new MateBook models, sorry to disappoint but that won’t be happening according to the source.

We do not know if all of these products will be announced together at one event or will have separate announcements. Once we have more details, we will let you know.

China’s smartphone sales record a 7% YoY surge during the 618 shopping festival – Counterpoint

China’s mid-year 618 shopping festival held in the month of June has grown to become one of the major e-commerce activities in the region and even outside China. This year’s activity was the first to be held after the COVID 19 lockdown which affected last year’s activities especially smartphone sales. Thus, phone manufacturers were looking forward to robust sales, and apparently, they were not disappointed.

Data released by market research firm Counterpoint shows that the smartphone market recorded a rebound in the sales of smartphones during this year’s 618 shopping festival. The event saw a 7% YoY increase in smartphone sales in the first three weeks of June. The impressive surge comes on the heels of a disappointing run during the previous two months of April and May.

BBK subsidiary Vivo cornered the most sales to lead the ranking. The company raked in 23% of the total phones sold by the top eight phone manufacturers. Fellow BBK subsidiary OPPO came in at the second spot with 21% of the 618 sales. Xiaomi also saw impressive sales of 19% putting it at the number 3 spot.

Counterpoint notes that present sales numbers were made possible due to the absence of Huawei and its once bubbling Honor sub-brand. The two companies were the first and second bestsellers in 2020 but this year has been different as their sales plummeted 68% and 49% respectively. Huawei’s smartphone business has almost been crippled by the US ban while it has been forced to sell the Honor brand. The brand is yet to pick up under a new owner. The brand managed to record a 7% share during 618 but its sales surged more than 15% compared to the corresponding period in May.

Apple also recorded a pretty impressive outing during the 618 shopping festival with a 16% YoY increase in sales. While Apple occupied the fourth position, Realme came in at the fifth spot.

TCL Breeva Air Purifier launches with exceptional features at $44.99 (Coupon Inside)

The world has changed a lot and does the pollution level. TCL which is known for making televisions worldwide has recently launched an air purifier Breeva A1 promising what one would expect an air purifier to do. Indeed, the HEPA H13 filter is designed to filter out 99.97 percent of the particles in the air. This should help against cigarette smoke, among other things, but also against exhaust fumes, dust, pet fur, pollen, allergens and even odors.

Must See: TCL 20 Pro 5G, 20S, 20 SE & Moveaudio earbuds launched for the US market

The Breeva A1 from TCL is currently being sold on Amazon for an effective price of $49.99. If you’re wondering, the effective price is a combination of a discount campaign and an additional coupon code “TCLDEAL629“, which pushes the price down to $49.9. Note that the offer is valid till July 4 only.

With 4.4 out of five stars, the ratings are almost entirely positive – but some of them are obviously fake. A comparable air purifier with a HEPA filter from Xiaomi ( 3C or 3H ) costs at least $70 in the price comparison.

In addition to the HEPA filter, an activated carbon filter is also installed, which is supposed to filter smoke and odors particularly well. The HEPA filter of the TCL air purifier should be changed every six months. For better durability, the housing of the Breeva A1 is made of metal and plastic. The dimensions are 200 x 200 x 320 millimeters, the weight is 3.1 kilograms. The noise level should not exceed 26 decibels. There is also a multi-colored LED bar on top of the air purifier. These and other functions are controlled directly on the device on which the corresponding buttons are located. What is missing compared to the more expensive competition is an app connection.

You may visit Amazon and purchase the purifier by redeeming the coupon. Do let us know your purchase experience in the comments.

Vivo NEX Fold is coming this year but no NEX 5

Mi MIX is to Xiaomi Vivo’s NEX is to Vivo. Last week, we reported that Vivo has applied for trademarks for a number of NEX devices, one of which is the NEX Fold. Now, it has been revealed that the foldable device will be launched this year.

Vivo Logo Featured

According to Ice Universe, the next Vivo NEX phone won’t be the NEX 5, the expected successor to the 2019 NEX 3/NEX 3 5G. Instead, we will get the NEX Fold this year, the manufacturer’s first foldable device. He isn’t the only one that has confirmed the NEX Fold is coming.

https://twitter.com/UniverseIce/status/141129971889059020

Ross Young, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) replied under Ice Universe’s tweet with more details. He revealed that the device will be the largest in-folding foldable device in terms of panel size. This means its inner display will be larger than that of the Mi MIX Fold and Huawei Mate X2 which measure 8.01-inches and 8.0-inches respectively.

He also stated that the device is expected in January. Does it mean that Ice Universe is wrong about the launch date?

The NEX Fold may actually launch this year but won’t be available for purchase until January. There is also the possibility that it will launch first in China this year before a global launch in January, most likely at CES 2022.

Save for having an in-folding design, there is not much we know about the NEX Fold. However, we expect more details will surface as its launch draws closer.

DJI Mini SE goes official but will only be available in selected markets

DJI is the world’s largest drone maker and has a wide array of drones for different segments of its growing global clientele. Last month Walmart leaked the DJI Mini SE drone to the US market, indicating an impending release in the US. However, subsequent events have now shown that a US release of the latest portable drone by DJI would not be happening – at least for now. The US and other established markets will make do with DJI’s flagship entry-level model, the Mini 2. DJI has now unveiled the DJI Mini SE, and it will be available in selected markets outside the US and Europe. The mini drone has already appeared on some DJI websites like DJI Brazil, while sales have begun in Malaysia.DJI Mini SE

The DJI Mini SE is a specialized drone tailored to suit the needs of entry-level users in emerging markets for consumer drones. It provides some basic drone functionalities and is affordable. The DJI Mini SE seems to be a reworked predecessor of the DJI Mini 2, called the DJI Mavic Mini, although it comes with a cheaper price tag. In fact, the Mini SE uses the internal components of the Mavic Mini and the shell of the Mini 2, and this generates a higher wind resistance.DJI Mini SE

Still, it has a significantly higher performance than the Mavic Mini and comes with more attractive pricing. Essentially, the DJI Mini SE has the same important features as the Mavic Mini including 2.7K video capability, 20 minutes of flying time, 2.5-mile wireless range, 12MP photos capacity, and 3-axis gimbal setup. The DJI Mini SE weighs about 250g.DJI Mini SE

The price of the DJI Mini SE in Malaysia is RM 1,349 ($325), which is higher than the $299 price tag Walmart put out for the device last month. The DJI Mini SE will also be available in Russia, according to the company, while other European countries including the United Kingdom, will not have the product.

Leak says OnePlus and Find X series will be OPPO’s flagship lines

With each passing week comes more details about OnePlus’s future as a sub-brand of OPPO. Yesterday, we learned that the codebase for OyxgenOS will now be integrated with that of ColorOS. That’s the software part. For the hardware part, we have more juicy details.

OPPO + OnePlus logo

A Chinese leaker revealed on Weibo details about OPPO’s hardware plans. The leaker who goes by “Arsenal” on the social media platform and has provided reliable information in the past is the source of the information. In a Weibo post dated yesterday, he disclosed that OnePlus will become OPPO’s new high-end product line! He goes on to say that OnePlus phones will be positioned in a fashion similar to Huawei’s P series and their selling point will be camera performance.

The leaker also revealed that OPPO’s Find X series will be the manufacturer’s second flagship line. The post says that the Find X series will be the first to debut newly developed features and be positioned in a similar way to Huawei’s Mate series.

While we expected there will be changes to how both companies operate, the aforementioned ones are astonishing. Nevertheless, it does sound like a sensible decision and one that will most likely take effect next year. OnePlus fans will be particularly pleased to learn that future models will pack better cameras.

It is important to state that while the info comes from a reliable leaker, we should still take it with a pinch of salt until evidence surfaces or there is an official statement.

Sketches show off the canceled Xiaomi Mi 11 series designs

The Mi 11 series is Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone lineup for the year 2021. Originally, the series includes four models. Out of them, the regular, the Pro, and the Lite feature an identical rear design. The same design can be also found on the Redmi K40 series. Now, months after the launch of these devices, a couple of sketches reveal a design of the series during their development stage.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro Mi 11 Ultra Featured A
Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra

The vanilla Mi 11 was announced in late December 2020 as the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 phone. The device was followed by Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Lite, and Mi 11 Ultra in late March. In February, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi also unveiled the Redmi K40 series.

All these phones apart from the Mi 11 Ultra sport a unique camera layout, which stands out among the crowd. For the first time in a while, one could easily identify them as a Xiaomi smartphone.

Thankfully, Xiaomi chose this design over a couple of generic designs whose sketches have been shared by Digital Chat Station recently on Weibo. The now-canceled designs during the development stage of the Mi 11 series are too common.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Series Development Stage Canceled Design
Xiaomi Mi 11 series designs during the development stage | Via: Digital Chat Station

As you can see from the sketches, the first one resembles the OPPO Reno series. On the other hand, the second design is similar to that of the vivo X series. Anyway, it is worth noting that Xiaomi had already used the latter design on the Mi 10T series last year.

For years, Xiaomi has been known for copying Apple’s designs. It’s good that the company has now established a unique identity in 2021 with its new design language. We hope that the firm continues to follow this in the future.

What are your thoughts on Xiaomi’s current design language? Do you think the company should continue using it in the next generation with some tweaks? Do let us know in the comment section below.

vivo v21 5g

The Vivo V21 5G is available from Clove for £399 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. Notably, this is slightly higher than the Indian and Malaysian pricing. The Indian audience has received the 5G phone for ~£338, while the Malaysian unit’s price is ~£323.

It can be picked up in two color variants – Sunset Dazzle and Dusk Blue. It is available in an unlocked variant with 2 years of warranty.

Vivo V21 5G Smartphone Specifications

The smartphone comes with a dewdrop notch display sporting a 6.44-inch screen. It is an AMOLED panel with a Full-HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The screen also doubles up as an in-display fingerprint scanner for added security.

One of the major highlights of the device is the camera. The phone has a triple camera setup with a 64MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. Moving to the front, it has a 44MP single selfie camera. Interestingly, there’s OIS support in both the front camera and the primary rear sensor.

At the helm, the device comes powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. We are not sure if the UK variant has 3GB of virtual RAM as the Indian model. As far as expandability is concerned, the phone has a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage.

The phone packs a 4,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It has a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer but unfortunately, it misses out on a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The above-mentioned software build is labeled as ‘Stable Beta’ right now. This means the update is being rolled out in batches. In simpler words, it is only available for a select few users at the moment. But it should reach all the users in the coming days.

As of now, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has only received a single MIUI as well as an Android update. Usually, the Redmi Note series handsets get two Android updates and three MIUI updates. Hence, we can expect Xiaomi to deliver both MIUI 13 and Android 12 in the future.

Before that, the smartphone should get the MIUI 12.5 update, which is currently being seeded out to a bunch of eligible Mi, Redmi, and POCO-branded phones worldwide.

According to the FCC listing, the Nokia Clarity Solo Buds+ has an unusual design for TWS earphones. It has a single Bluetooth receiver-like built that looks too old school for its looks. It has a stretched-out stem for the exterior built and an in-ear design.

The stem has multifunction buttons which can be used for performing different tasks. With just a touch, one can play/pause, answer, and reject calls. Long pressing the stem will toggle the voice assistant for performing quick tasks.

The earbud also has an indicator light that shows the pairing and battery status of the device. It also has a USB Type-C port for charging.

Moving to the Nokia Go Earbuds+, the TWS earbuds seem to be inspired by the Apple AirPods Pro. According to the schematics, these come with almost the same design as the AirPods Pro. The buds have an in-ear design with a slim stem. These too have touch controls similar to the Nokia Clarity Solo Buds+.

Interestingly, the Go Earbuds+ has a volume control on the earbuds themselves. Double tapping the buds will increase and decrease the volume. The buds also have a charging case that has Nokia branding at the front and a USB Type-C port at the bottom.

Both the Nokia Clarity Solo Buds+ and Nokia Go Earbuds+ will come with different size ear tips, starting from small to large. Since these are already on the FCC listing, we can expect Nokia to announce them soon.

OnePlus 9T with ColorOS 11, 108MP Hasselblad quad cameras may arrive in Q3

OnePlus is reportedly working on the OnePlus 9T flagship. Recently, a leaker claimed that the company will not be launching the OnePlus 9T Pro alongside the 9T handset. Fresh information shared by another tipster reveals that the OnePlus 9T may ship with ColorOS 11.

According to the tipster, the OnePlus 9T 5G will be launching in Q3 and it will be running on ColorOS 11. He added that the phone will be sporting a 108-megapixel Hasselblad quad-camera system. He also claimed that there will not be a Pro model for the 9T. While the OP9T may arrive with ColorOS 11 in China, it is not clear whether the global edition will also feature the OPPO’s custom skin. Hence, it is advised to digest the new leak with a pinch of salt.

A recent leak claimed that the OnePlus 9T will be sporting an LTPO Samsung E4 flexible AMOLED screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 888+ chip that offers faster clocking speeds than the Snapdragon 888. It was also revealed that the SD888+ will be used by brands like ROG (ASUS), Honor, Motorola, Vivo, and Xiaomi in the future. Since OnePlus was not mentioned, it is likely that it will settle for the Snapdragon 888 SoC for the 9T.
