Poco has provided an update for limited owners of its Poco X3 Pro already sold in India. The MIUI 12.5 software update is being pushed to a limited number of devices in India and monitored for a seamless update and improved performance of the X3 Pro. If this first stage of the rollout goes smoothly, it will be expanded to cover all Poco X3 Pro units already sold in the subcontinent.
The MIUI update is covered by an 830MB download that encompasses all the essential aspects of the user interface for all-round improved performance. The June 2021 current security patches are available with the download, and this will bring the Poco X3 Pro up to speed on that aspect. The operational aspects of the latest update will mean that we could see a faster operation of the device across several fronts. The update will also mean that there will be custom adjustments on the device, a more responsive effect of hand gestures, and greater rendering power. Poco says on the whole that the latest MIUI 12.5 update will bring an overall lighter and faster interface, which will also be durable.
Some observed bugs have also been fixed with the latest update, thus enhancing notifications and notification badges. A gesture shortcut has been added to the Notes app on the Poco X3 Pro, with the latest MIUI 12.5 update. The Notes app seems to have undergone a complete revamp, with dynamic layouts, mind maps with complex structures, and more significant sketching and doodling.
It is not clear at this time when a full rollout will commence, but we expect the assessment of the update on the limited units will be rapid so that all users of the Poco X3 Pro in India will subsequently enjoy better performances of their devices.

Performance evaluation platform Geekbench has removed the OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone from its database amidst claims that OnePlus seemingly faked the device’s performance, using its touted OxygenOS Android overlay to throttle the processor performance of the device.
OnePlus has continued to tout top-notch device optimization for its products during marketing campaigns. The claims also extend to top performance scores for OnePlus devices across several evaluation platforms, including Geekbench. In an obvious deeper look into the famed performance metrics attributed to the OnePlus 9 Pro, Anandtech has found out that the OxygenOS was throttling the phone’s processor severely when using some popular apps and OnePlus own in-built applications. The OxygenOS could be providing some seemingly sabotaging effect on the Snapdragon 888 processor that powers the OnePlus 9 Pro.
Obviously, the throttling effect was not used to prolong battery life or prevent overheating, which are valid optimization moves. However, the throttling was seen as a move to have an improved performance rating in evaluation platforms like Geekbench and a few other issues.
Geekbench thus decided to delist the OnePlus 9 Pro from its database due to the observed dissonance relating to the processor benchmarks of the device. The move by Geekbench is a temporary one until all grey areas relating to the performance rating of the OnePlus 9 Pro are fully ascertained an as well as further clarification from the manufacturer. Geekbench has further expanded its scrutiny of the OnePlus lineup, as it will be examining several OnePlus smartphones whether there are issues on the processor benchmarks attached to these devices. And if these OnePlus devices fail the benchmark scrutiny, Geekbench will also delist them from its database.
The Geekbench move could spell a massive blow to OnePlus, which has always pointed to its excellent performance over the years. There had been no official reaction by OnePlus yet on the matter.
OnePlus has officially confirmed its upcoming Nord device, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. The company also revealed that the phone will be powered by the flagship-grade Dimensity 1200-AI processor.
Yes, the brand is officially calling it the Dimensity 1200-AI. The company says that it has worked closely with MediaTek to ‘enhance AI-based features’. So this is essentially a customized chip from MediaTek in collaboration with OnePlus as a part of its Dimensity 5G Open Resource Architecture.
“The Dimensity 1200-AI is the first example of MediaTek’s Dimensity Open Resource Architecture initiative, optimizing the powerful Dimensity 1200 5G chipset to deliver a customized experience for OnePlus users,” said Dr. JC Hsu, Corporate VP and GM of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit. “As AI is reshaping the future of chipset technology, this initiative gives brands like OnePlus access to the latest AI-powered capabilities with the flexibility to innovate in new and exciting ways.”
This customized Dimensity 1200-AI chip will integrate several AI-based enhancements, especially in the camera and display departments. For example, OnePlus reveals that thanks to the AI Photo Enhancement, the Nord 2 5G can recognize up to 22 different photography scenarios and can even automatically adjust color tones and contrast in the photos taken in low-light situations. The phone’s AI Video Enhancement feature can enable live HDR effects in real-time at the time of recording. With the help of DOL-HDR tech, the phone can adjust tuning and image quality during live recording and even enhance the color range and accuracy of the videos, thereby increasing dynamic range and improving the highlight retention. In the display department, the phone will feature AI Color Boost technology which automatically converts standard content to HDR while AI Resolution Boost tech can automatically upscale video resolution to HD.
OnePlus Nord 2 render by Onleaks
While OnePlus has confirmed the chip, it is yet to announce an official launch date for the Nord 2 5G. However, given that official teasers have started to emerge, it could be announced soon, possibly by the end of July, as revealed in a previous leak.
Blackview A100 was recently unveiled for the camera enthusiasts while offering commendable hardware. Considering the value-for-money aspect, the smartphone fared interestingly better than the Redmi 10X in our recent comparison. There are several other aspects that prove the mettle of Blackview A100 including its advanced camera. The smartphone can flawlessly capture detailed photos of the objects in motion.
Blackview A100 camera can quickly capture those impromptu moments without any blur in the photo. The super-advanced camera sensor can effectively auto-focus the fast-moving object within 0.03 seconds. Moreover, the burst shot can capture 10 shots in a second which is quite fast in comparison with other smartphone cameras.
Blackview uses a 12MP Sony camera having a large 1.4μm pixel size which enables it to capture maximum detail even in a low-light environment. The 12MP Sony IMX362 camera produces images that are easy to process due to pixel condensation. It takes less time to process the images and enables the smartphone to capture photos of fast-moving objects.
The smartphone uses a Dual Pixel Autofocus (DPAF) technology found in premium smartphones helps to produce a consistent and smooth focus for a wide range of photo and video applications. The DPAF technology is quite useful both in the video and still modes. It helps to keep the focus on the point.
Unlike Open-loop VCM, the Closed-loop VCM on Blackview A100 further reduces the shake and helps in efficient focusing. Furthermore, the HDR feature enhances the video recording especially in the night mode or while capturing the Portrait color.
The pixel binding technology is present in the Blackview 12MP primary sensor, which enables it to process high-quality and in-depth photos within a small processing time. Blackview has focused on pixel quality than pixel quantity as Apple did in iPhone 12.
Other Features and Pricing
Blackview A100 comes with an expressive design and features a shining back designed with advanced vacuum plating. The smartphone is available for the price of $249.99.
Other primary specifications including a MediaTek Helio P70 SoC, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, a 6.67-inch FHD+ display, and a 4680 mAh battery. The smartphone comes with a fingerprint sensor and a power button for easy accessibility. Over the top, it houses a multi-function NFC for touchless payments. Huawei Technologies has filed a lawsuit against Verizon Communications. The smartphone and telecommunications equipment maker has sued the US carrier over allegedly infringing on its patents, with the jury selection beginning today (7th July 2021).
According to a Reutersreport, the Chinese tech giant had initially filed the lawsuit against Verizon back in February 2020. These were filed in two US District Courts in Texas and alleged that Verizon used the brand’s patents without its authorization in multiple areas. This includes computer networking, download security, and video communications. Huawei is currently seeking an unknown amount for compensation along with royalty payments as well.
Notably, the US telecom operator had called this lawsuit as “nothing more than a PR stunt” and a “sneak attack on our company and the entire tech ecosystem.” Furthermore, the carrier also filed counterclaims against Huawei, stating that the Chinese company had also violated Verizon’s patents as well. The smartphone maker had added last year that it “is simply asking that Verizon respect Huawei’s investment in research and development by either paying for the use of our patents, or refraining from using them.”
At the moment, the company has denied to further comment on this matter. Meanwhile, the news arrives amid growing trade and political tensions between the US and China. The jury selection process has begun in the Eastern District of Texas that is regarding a small number of patents related to optical transport networks. The other Texas lawsuit is related to wireless patents and is set for an October trial.

Notably, the blogger also added that the device will arrive in two variants, namely a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 along with a lower end version that will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 860 SoC. Keep in mind, this is still an unconfirmed report so take this news with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this device.

Back in May 2021, we had reported on the Microsoft Surface Duo seeing a major price slash, with the new sale offering a 50 percent discount on the dual display device. Now, the price has been lowered again, with Surface Duo being available for a nearly 1000 US Dollars discount.
According to an ArsTechnicareport, the American tech giant’s first self branded Android smartphone is now available for 71 percent off. While the device was touted to be the company’s innovative entry to the Android market, the dual display smartphone was unfortunately not a hit in the market. The handset faced plenty of criticism and lackluster sales, making it a flop, which caused the company to lower its price tag multiple times.
Now, Amazon’s Woot is selling the Surface Duo for just 409 US Dollars. This marks a whopping 990.99 US Dollars discount of the original price tag of 1399.99 US Dollars. Although, this listing is only for the AT&T locked model of the device. The Surface Duo had initially launched in September 2020, but saw a sharp 200 US Dollar price slash in just a month after its launch. Moving seven months forward, the price had fallen even lower by 50 percent.
The smartphone failed in the market for various reasons, which includes its awkward form factor, along with a buggy software, exorbitant pricing, and other issues. It was powered by an aging Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC with two 5.6 inch displays that has a 4:3 aspect ratio. For 400 US Dollars, the device might be an interesting pick for smartphone enthusiasts, although, it would likely see no success even with this relatively affordable pricing.
The Huawei chip designing unit, HiSilicon, has just signed a deal with a Chinese firm to strengthen its domestic supply chain. The local partner shared this news in an announcement earlier this week.
According to a NikkeiAsiareport, Shenzhen JT Automation Equipment, a Chinese chip production equipment maker, stated that it has signed a five year long MoU (memorandum of understanding) with HiSilicon, China’s largest chip developer. The supplier added that “Huawei’s HiSilicon is stepping up efforts to push to build a domestic chip packaging and testing supply chain.” It further added that “Both parties aim to expand collaboration on semiconductor packaging tool development in a bid to solve the ‘neck-choking’ problem and realize a self-sufficient and controllable industry.”
This statement is likely related to the US sanctions that have disrupted the Chinese tech giant’s supply chain. For those unaware, JT was founded back in 2004 and is an equipment maker that supplies firms in the consumer electronics, automotive electronics, aviation, and even space and defense fields. At the moment, it supplies Gree, China’s largest home appliance maker, Haier, and Flex as one of its major customers.
Notably, the new deal is an effort from Huawei to strengthen its local supply chain and achieve self sufficiency that does not rely on foreign technologies. Its HiSilicon unit designs its proprietary smartphone chips, Kirin, and its other processors are also used in notebooks, servers, vehicles, TVs, and more. Thus, the deal would seek to offset the US sanctions and enable it to better compete in the global market again, especially for consumer electronic products.
Recent reports have suggested that HMD Global could be planning to launch a new phone named the Nokia XR 20. Last month, it was spotted at the Geekbench benchmarking site and some of its specs were revealed through a Russian retailer. It seems that the launch date of the Nokia XR20 could be drawing near as it has seemingly received approval from the Bluetooth SIG authority. The certification site also seems to have approved another phone that is believed to be a renewed version of the Nokia 6310 yesteryear phone.
The Bluetooth SIG has approved Nokia phones with model numbers such as TA-1362, TA-1368, and TA-1371. The Russian retailer listing had revealed that the TA-1362 model number belongs to the Nokia XR20. It is likely that the TA-1368 and TA-1371 models could be variants of the same phone.
Past reports have claimed that the Nokia XR20 could be sporting a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel front camera, and a 48-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual-camera setup on the back. It may offer other specs such as Snapdragon 480, 4 GB / 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a 4,360mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi, NFC, and USB-C. It may arrive in Blue and Grey colors.
The Russian retailer listing had also revealed that the TA-1400 model number belongs to the unannounced Nokia 6310. The same variant has bagged Bluetooth SIG certification. The feature phone is expected to arrive with specs like a 2.8-inch display, a 1,150mAh battery, a 0.3-megapixel rear camera, 8MB of RAM, 16 MB of ROM, a microSD card slot, FM Radio, dual SIM support, and Bluetooth 5.0. It is unclear whether it will support 4G LTE connectivity. Also, it is unclear whether it will be available in other colors apart from black.
Huawei is readying to launch its new smart band in India soon. The company’s Band 6 is arriving in the country soon and now, the official pricing of the smart band has been revealed on Amazon prior to its official launch.
At the moment, the Chinese tech giant is expected to soon start taking pre orders for its new wearable in India. As per the brand’s official Twitter handle, the pre orders for the band 6 went live on 6th July 2021. The pre orders would even offer customers a Free gift as well, although, it has yet to go live as of right now. So there might be a slight delay in the company’s plans.
On the other hand, Huawei also confirmed some details through an Amazon listing spotted on the e retailer platform. The Band 6 is expected to go on sale through Amazon India soon and will be available in India for a price of 4,490 INR (roughly 60 US Dollars) in India. The band will be available in four color variants, namely Graphite Black, Sakura Pink, Amber Sunrise and Forest Green. It is expected that the device will launch around mid July 2021.
So, we can expect an official company announcement in the arriving few days. It sports a 1.47 inch FullView AMOLED display with a 194 x 368px resolution. The device also offers heart rate monitoring, SpO2 monitoring, and sleep tracking, among other features. It can last for up to 14 days on a single full charge and arrives with up to 10 workout modes and supports Bluetooth 5.0, an accelerometer, gyroscope, optical heart rate sensor, and more.
Earlier today (7th July 2021), OnePlus announced that it would be launching its OnePlus Watch Cobalt Limited Edition smartwatch in India later this month. The wearable is the special edition of the company’s smartwatch that is already available in the country.
The new Cobalt Limited Edition arrives with a unique watch face along with specially treated glass that has a Mohs rating of 9 for enhanced brightness and exceptional scratch resistance. Furthermore, the device’s case was also crafted with a “cobalt alloy, a special hypoallergenic material that is twice as hard and more corrosion resistant than traditional stainless steel.” The wearable offers users up to 14 days of battery life and fast charging support.
It also supports 110 workout types and a 5ATM and IP68 water resistance rating. The new Cobalt Limited Edition will be available in India for a price of 19,999 INR (roughly 267 US Dollars) and can be purchased from the brand’s official website, its official Store App, and even its physical retail stores as well. For those interested, the sales of the wearable begins on 16th July 2021.
Although, customers can pre book the watch on OnePlus.in and OnePlus Store App for INR 1000. The pre bookings are live between July 7 to July 10. The Chinese smartphone maker is also offering certain bank offers as well in India, with HDFC Band Cards and EMI transaction offering a 1000 INR discount while select American Express card users can avail a 5 percent cash bank.
Xiaomi‘s efforts over the years in trying to ramp up sales have continued to gain traction. Not only is the brand the numberone in the smartphone and TV segment in India, it is also one of the leading brand in China. A recent research shows that the company is also the leading name in the second-hand smartphone market in China. The Chinese tech giant has again added another feature to its cap with an impress run in India’s premium smartphone market.
The company recently amplified this information but the research which revealed the progress in this segment was carried out by market research firm Counterpoint. The stats is contained in Counterpoint’s May 2021 market tracker. According to the report, Xiaomi cornered about 14% share of the market in the 20K-45K category. This places the company in a good pedestal as one of the leading and fastest-growing premium smartphone brands.
Xiaomi’s drive to enter into the premium phone segment, began with the Mi 10 series. The drive was continued with the latest crop of premium smartphones such as Mi 10i, Mi 11X, and Mi 11X Pro which have been released in India. It should be noted that the brand went from just 3% market share in the premium segment as at October 2020 to ~14% in May 2021, representing a massive growth.
The growth of Mi India in the premium segment is a reflection of th econfidentce that the brand commands presently, which in turn is the product of the brand’s assiduous effort in churning out cost-effective and drable products.
Xiaomi Mi Store India
Xiaomi India’s head, Manu Kumar Jain, commenting on the success of the Mi smartphones in the premium segment stated that; “With Mi, we have focused on bringing breakthrough technologies and setting newer benchmarks for mobile innovation. With the launch of the Mi 10 and Mi 11 series in the market, we have empowered our users with a premium experience, on the back of superior design, best in class features and functionality. It is because of the trust of our consumers and Mi Fans that we have been able to reduce the gap with one of the leading premium smartphone brands. While these are early growth numbers, we are overwhelmed to see consumers upgrading to premium devices under the Mi portfolio. As we continue to grow in the market, we will look at bringing more powerful devices, and work towards making Mi a premium aspirational brand in India.”
The company’s drive in the premium segment this year began with the Mi 10i which emerged as the brand’s best-selling 5G device under 25K. The Mi 11X series was also released, registering business worth INR 300 crore in just 45 days of launch. To further ramp its share in this segment, Xiaomi will be releasing the Mi 11 Ultra flagship in India today. The premium smartphone will be available exclusively on Mi.com and Mi Homes.
OPPO may enter the gaming smartphone market in the near future. The reason behind it is that 91mobileshas come across OPPO’s EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) patent listing that showcases a design of what appears to be a gaming smartphone. The renders of the unannounced phone available in the patent filing have revealed what to expect from it.
The renders that can be found in the patent filings show that its appearance will appear similar to the other gaming smartphones such as the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro and ASUS ROG Phone 5. Hence, it seems that it could end up as a gaming-centric smartphone.
The front view of the phone reveals that its screen does not have a punch-hole or notch. Instead, it can be seen sporting a slightly thick forehead and chin. The selfie snapper could be fitted in the top bezel of the phone.
.
The back panel of the phone has a gaming-focused appearance and a quad-camera setup. The rear design of the phone is quite similar to the OPPO Reno5 Marvel Edition.
The top edge of the device has a microphone, whereas its bottom bezel has a 3.5mm audio jack, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille. The left edge has a power key, and the volume rocker is placed on the right side.
OPPO Reno5 Marvel Edition
OPPO is yet to officially confirm whether it is working on a gaming phone. Hopefully, it will appear at certification sites in the future through which some of its details will be revealed. In related news, OPPO is developing its own image signal processor (ISP) and it is likely to be called M1. At present, nothing much is known about the ISP.
