Last but not least, we are not sure whether the update comes with Android 11 since there’s no mention of it. Also, it is not known when the global variant of these handsets will receive it.
Earlier this month, Huawei had announced its latest version of its proprietary operating system, HarmonyOS 2.0. And now, the number of products that upgraded to the new OS has apparently already crossed 10 million in just a week.
With the release of HarmonyOS, the Chinese tech giant also announced a number of smartphone models and other products that would receive this update. According to a QQreport, news had initially surfaced that the company managed to bring in over 10 million devices to the new operating system by some netizens. But now, internal staff members of Huawei have apparently made the news official and confirmed this report.
As of right now, it is estimated that there are about 200 million smartphones from the brand in circulation all across the globe. Furthermore, most of these models would be eligible for the upgrade to the newly launched HarmonyOS (also known as HongMengOS in China). So, we can expect this number to rise even further as more models become eligible for the new update.
Mate 40 Pro running HarmonyOS
Notably, the company had built HarmonyOS with cross platform and multi device support integration. In other words, the operating system from the consumer electronics maker will also make its way into a number of smart products, including IoT (Internet of things) and even smart home appliances as well.

It is worth mentioning that the above-listed ColorOS 11 Stable/Beta update schedule for June 2021 is only applicable to unlocked variants. The carrier-exclusive smartphones have a different schedule. Users with such phones will have to check with their providers.
Last but not least, the 3GB RAM variant of OPPO A9 2020 and OPPO A5 2020 are not eligible for the ColorOS 11 (Android 11) update.
Earlier today (9th June 2021), a known Weibo tipster, a Chinese microblogging website, uploaded screenshots that revealed the radio certification of two upcoming products from Xiaomi. This includes an upcoming flagship smartphone and the Mi Pad 5.
Talking about the flagship handset first, @数码闲聊站shared a screenshot of the radio certification of the device, which will apparently feature UWB as well. For those unaware, UWB stands for ultra wideband transmission technology. This technology was first seen in the iPhone 11 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 for Android. UWB uses short pulses for wireless communication. This enables it to transmit data without interference, with a high transmission rate at a lower power cost and higher accuracy. Notably, the technology also has applications in IoT interaction and for high precision tracking devices like smart tags.
Arriving at the tablet, the Chinese tech giant is apparently gearing up for the launch of the Mi Pad 5. As per the tipster, a device with the model number “M2105K81C” has already received radio certification and will be a part of the latest generation of tablets from Xiaomi. Notably, this tablet will also support 5G networking, so we can expect a 5G enabled chipset from MediaTek and Qualcomm.
Alleged render of the Mi Pad 5
Previous reports had revealed that the base model will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC while the Pro variant of the tablet will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. Although, these are just speculation, so take this report with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more, as we will provide updates if any notable developments or reports surface.

Samsung is gearing up for the launch of new smartphones and smartwatches later this year. With MWC 2021 coming up later this month, we can expect to hear more about these products, especially regarding the new wearables that will run on a brand new version of Wear OS.
For those unaware, the South Korean tech giant is gearing up for its conference at MWC 2021 event in Barcelona on 28th June 2021. On the MWC website, the company has mentioned that it will be “reimagining smartwatches, creating new opportunities for both developers and consumers,” as per a SamMobilereport. Previously, we had reported on Samsung and Google merging the Wear OS and Tizen OS to offer a more streamlined experience to the users.
So, we might expect to hear more about this new OS that will be featured in the upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Active version. These smartwatches will be the latest wearable from the company and could feature Super AMOLED displays along with a 5nm Exynos chipset. Although, the brand might likely reveal additional information at the Mobile World Congress later this month.
Galaxy Watch Active2 | Source: Samsung
Google and Samsung had also claimed that merging the two wearable operating systems will bring various improvements to the Wear platform. This includes 30 percent faster app launch times among other benefits like improved stock apps, and more watch faces. During the MWC 2021 event, the company might also reveal more detail regarding its plans for its Galaxy ecosystem, apart from just teasing upcoming products. So stay tuned for more updates.
OnePlus is set to launch the OnePlus Nord CE 5G tomorrow (June 10). Ahead of it, the original OnePlus Nord from last year is out of stock in India. The device is no longer sold on OnePlus’ website and Amazon India.
The OnePlus Nord released in Q3 2020 as the first-ever OnePlus mid-range smartphone. The device features a 6.44-inch FHD+ 90Hz AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, up tp 12GB RAM as well as 256GB internal storage, 48MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 5MP (depth) + 2MP (macro) quad-camera setup, and 32MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) dual-selfie cameras.
Other features of the handset include a 4,115mAh battery, 30W fast charging, in-screen fingerprint sensor, and OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10 (upgradable to Android 11-based OxygenOS 11).
The phone had been retailing in India for ₹24,999, ₹27,999, and ₹29,999 respectively. Anyway, it is worth noting that the base variant was mostly out of stock since its availability in September.
OnePlus Nord
That said, for unknown reasons, OnePlus has quietly stopped selling the OnePlus Nord in India. As per 91Mobiles, the smartphone might have discontinued in the country ahead of OnePlus Nord CE 5G launch tomorrow.
However, the company is yet to officially confirm it. We might get the answers in a few hours at the OnePlus Summer Launch event.
The discontinuation of the OnePlus Nord is inevitable. That’s because the upcoming OnePlus Nord CE 5G has been confirmed to come with most of the features of the original Nord and some at an even cheaper price tag.
Earlier today (9th June 2021), Samsung launched The Frame TV 2021 in India. The new TV arrives with 4K QLED displays and is available in four different sizes, with the largest being 65 inch.
The South Korean tech giant’s The Frame TV 2021 is its latest entry in its premium offerings in the region. Talking about the specs and features of the new TV, it sports a 4K display on the front that it claims offers 100 percent color volume and supports Quantum Dot technology. Under the hood, The Frame TV houses a Quantum Processor 4K chip that brings artificial intelligence powered upscaling functions and auto optimizing SpaceFit Sound settings as well.
Interestingly, Samsung has even preloaded the TV with over 1,400 art pieces that can be displayed on the TV when it is not in use. This feature is further complimented by the customizable bezels paired with a 46 percent thinner frame over its predecessor, which make it appear quite similar to an actual picture frame. The new iteration of The Frame TV offers an increased 6GB of internal storage compared to the meager 500MB offered in the last gen.
Additionally, the TV also offers support for Bixby and Alexa voice assistants along with AirPlay 2 as well. It is bundled with the One Remote and arrives in an eco friendly packaging. The Frame TV 2021 starts from 61,990 INR (roughly 850 US Dollars) and will be available in 43 inches, 50 inches, 55 inches, and even 65 inch size variants. It will be available for purchase starting from June 12 and can be purchased from the company’s official website, Amazon, and Flipkart.
Saying smartwatches have significantly changed our lives would be an overstatement but the increasing number of shipments every year confirms that we are heading towards a wearable era. Although with its limited display size, it’s not suitable for complicated scenarios but as the technology matures, we are able to squeeze out more features from the compact smartwatch.
One of our most anticipated smart wearables this year has finally arrived, the HUAWEI Watch 3. And we think it’s an excellent example to showcase how a smartwatch can be much more than a fitness tracker.
The Huawei Watch 3 is the company’s first smart wearable running Harmony OS, a brand new platform for all kinds of smart devices including smartwatches. This is actually the main reason why we’re so curious about this new watch.
And we finally have it in our hands!
In addition to Huawei’s excellent fitness tracking features, the Huawei Watch 3 brings smartwatch-centric features including running apps and eSIM support for mobile data and independent calls.
In this review, we will tell you a couple of good reasons why you should consider getting this new watch. And of course, as usual, we’ll highlight its drawbacks too.
Anyway, after wearing it for a few days, we have to admit that it’s one of the most versatile smartwatches we have had and it could be one of the best alternatives to the Apple Watch.
Huawei Watch 3 Review: Design
The model in our hand is a standard version that features a 1.43-inch round 60Hz AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1000nits. The display is slightly bigger and brighter as well while retaining the same 326PPI resolution.
The dial body is made of stainless steel, while the skin-friendly silicone strap is removable. In terms of hardware, the Watch 3 has few upgrades over the GT2. The operating memory gets a solid boost up to 2GB and internal storage is 16GB for both models.
On the right side of the dial, we can see a very familiar button combination, including a crown button for page scrolling and another down button for feature shortcuts. When rolling the crown button, the animation of the interface is very smooth with similar vibration feedback to the Apple watches. When compared to its predecessor, the dial is a bit thicker and heavier. But considering the increase of functions, it’s still acceptable.
The watch has a typical classic watch box containing the usual set of user manuals, a wireless magnetic wireless charger, and the device itself.
An interesting detail we accidently came across was that the watch supports wireless charging using third-party chargers. This wasn’t clearly mentioned in its product description. However, we found that when charging with a third-party wireless charger, the watch easily heated up and shut down after a short time. So we’re still unsure if it’s safe to charge the watch using a regular Qi wireless charger.
Given the fact that the watch did charge up, we really hope that Huawei can fix the heating issue via a future firmware update and make it an officially supported feature.
The Watch 3 comes with a 5ATM waterproof rating, which means that it can be used for shallow-water activities such as pool swimming. But it is not suitable for underwater activities like diving.
As for its connectivity and audio features, it is just like a mini-smartphone, supporting Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi, mobile data, and independent calling powered by the eSIM. To independently work like a smartphone, it also features a microphone and speaker for calls, text speech, and voice assistants. As for NFC, it seems that most NFC features are restricted to China.
Huawei Watch 3 Review: Fitness Features
As with Huawei Watch GT 2 Series and other wearables from the brand, reliable fitness tracking has always been one of our favorite features on Huawei watches — including step count, all-day heart rate, caloric burn, and other exercise statics. In addition to the existing fitness tracking features, the Watch 3 offers continuous blood oxygen monitoring, new body temperature detection features, a breathing tracker, as well as AI-based health diagnosis. But note that specific health diagnosis features may only be available in China, such as the heart health reports.
As for exercise tracking, the Huawei Watch 3 offers over 100 sports modes and provides plenty of extra courses for running. In every sports mode, you are able to set up a goal in terms of distance, calories, time, and so on. And after using it for tracking a run and other exercises, we felt that the new Harmony OS didn’t bring any major changes when compared to its predecessor. But we believe that the GPS and statistics are more accurate on the new model.
When tracking a run, it can give you an accurate route, pace frequency and length, training stress, recovery time, and more. And all this data will immediately sync to the connected smartphone, which is even more detailed. Further, using this data, the app can generate a short video about the dynamic route on the map.
Now, let’s talk about its new fitness tracking features. You can turn on the continuous blood oxygen monitoring, and set up an alert to remind you of any potential risks when the figure drops below a risk value. And another new feature, the body temperature detection, is extremely useful considering the covid pandemic. With the watch, you can immediately detect your skin temperature and a rough body temperature anytime and anywhere, and then set up alerts for informing about a fever or hypothermia.
Also in our experience, Huawei’s TruSleep™ technology feels more accurate and detailed in sleep tracking. It can detect the user’s breathing patterns, and diagnose 6 types of sleeping problems. And you can check the quality assessments and view some suggestions for your sleep in the official Health app.
Except for the Apple Watch, most smartwatches have to run the Google’s Wear OS platform if they want to support a lot of third party apps. But since Google’s Wear OS platform has failed to deliver a satisfying user experience, most of these watches don’t perform well. And now thanks to the latest Harmony OS, the Huawei Watch 3 is a Brand-new option for users.
Huawei Watch 3 Review: HarmonyOS for smartwatches
Let’s take a deeper look at the watch OS. The Harmony OS at this point is not really about a revolution, but it’s focused on helping Huawei get rid of the limits of Google’s Android with a complete alternative. It’s pretty amazing that Huawei is able to develop its OS in such a short time, though it remains to be seen whether it’s more innovative and better than the Android platform. To be honest, initially it’s not really important if it’s better than Android. What really matters is that we have a viable alternative. And after seeing the Huawei Watch 3 and the Harmony OS Beta version on smartphones, we think it’s very much possible for Huawei to become a major market player with its HarmonyOS in the near future.
Coming back to the Huawei Watch 3, the software experience is pretty delightful, which is also partly attributed to the 60Hz display. But anyway, it ran so smoothly that we didn’t really find any obvious lags or glitches on the Watch 3. Huawei has also optimized the animation of the watch interface to better fit the round display.
Running apps is a new feature for the series. So far, there aren’t many apps on the watch’s apps gallery, and the apps available vary depending on your region. But Huawei claims more apps will be added to this list.
We also found that most apps still play a role of reminder or controller for the smartphone, which usually needs to interact with the phone apps. As for LTE network and native calling, you have to make sure that your carrier supports the e-SIM function. It’s extremely useful for those who wanna stay online when exercising, without carrying a bulky phone.
With most features turned on, the watch didn’t last very long on a single charge. In the smart mode it ran out of charge after 3 days. But when compared to other smartwatches that come with similar features, like the Apple watch, you may find the battery is already long enough.
Besides the normal mode that runs with most features on Harmony OS, the watch offers an ultra-long battery life mode to extend the usage time. And under the long battery life mode, you can still get a well-performed fitness tracker and enjoy almost all the fitness tracking features. In this mode, the watch can last over 10 days.
So that’s the new Huawei Watch 3. We think it’s one of the best alternatives to Apple Watch. And if you are a Huawei phone user, no doubt it’s the best smart wearable product that you can buy in the market. Although Harmony OS is new, we do see great possibilities in this platform.
Earlier this month, Huawei held a product launch conference in which it officially released the HarmonyOS 2.0. The company also revealed the list of models that will be receiving this update. Now, a tipster has claimed that certain older models of Huawei and Honor smartphones will be receiving the upgrade to the proprietary OS sooner.
According to an online post from @长安数码君 on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, the smartphone maker will be making the new operating system available a quarter sooner than the announced rollout plan. Although, the early rollout will only be applicable for certain older models. Furthermore, the tipster added that the internal testing for moels like the Huawei P30 series and Honor 30 and V30 series have already started this month due to smooth developments.
Similarly, the Chinese tech giant will apparently begin the public testing phase for HarmonyOS in July 2021. Reportedly, the company’s R&D team is working overtime in three shifts to ensure that long time users receive the update as soon as possible. In other words, we can expect certain older models to like the Honor 30 series to receive the update in the third quarter of this year rather than the previously announced fourth quarter.
Keep in mind, this is still an unconfirmed report so take this new with a pinch of salt for now. The company might announce the change in update schedule soon, so stay tuned for more, as we will provide updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.
OnePlus launched the OnePlus 8T in India in October 2020. It was the brand’s cheapest flagship smartphone for the second half of the last year. Over six months after its release, the handset receives its second price cut in the country.
OnePlus 8T
OnePlus 8T comes in two storage configurations – 8GB + 128GB and 12 + 256GB. These two variants debuted at ₹42,999 and ₹45,999 respectively.
Ahead of the OnePlus 9 series launch, the phone got its first price drop. The price of the device was decreased by ₹3,000. Hence, they had been selling for ₹39,999 and ₹42,999 for the past few weeks.
Now, as the brand is about to announce the OnePlus Nord CE 5G, it has once again cut the price of the OnePlus 8T by ₹1,000. As a result, the smartphone is now retailing for ₹38,999 and ₹41,999.
The new price of the OnePlus 8T finally makes it cheaper than the recently introduced OnePlus 9R, which costs ₹39,999 and ₹43,999 respectively. For those unaware, the latter phone is basically the former device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 instead of Snapdragon 865.
Since both these handsets released with Android 11, they have similar software support, however, the newer one may receive major updates first. So the buying decision depends on which design and color the customer prefers.

Chinese tech brand realme is currently the fastest-growing smartphone brand. Piggybacking on the success of its phone business, the company has been swiftly entering new product categories every other quarter. According to a new tweet by one of the firm’s executives, realme may soon launch a tablet.
Last month, realme sent out a survey for laptop preferences. The questionnaire hinted that the brand’s first laptop could release in Q3 2021. Earlier today, the company’s Indian/European CEO even officially teased a laptop.
At around the same time, the CMO of realme India and Europe also hinted at the launch of a tablet. In one of his latest tweets, the executive asks his followers whether the name ‘realme Pad’ sounds good. In our opinion, realme should go with a different name.
Unfortunately, the upcoming realme tablet is a mystery product since we are hearing it for the very first time. Above all, none of realme’s sister brands (OPPO, OnePlus) sell tablets. Hence, it is difficult to guess specifications.
We are not sure how it will look and what software it will run. It will probably run Android, however, it would be great if realme ships the product with Chrome OS.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on realme entering laptop and tablet categories? Do let us know in the comment section below.

Midea has just launched a new home appliance in China. It is a new refrigerator, which is the world’s first to feature HarmonyOS from Huawei. The device is also a smart product and offers various features to the user.
Since it is a smart home product, the refrigerator offers various features. This includes the touch based interactions, which can inform the users regarding the freshness of the ingredients inside the refrigerator at any given moment. Furthermore, a simple touch can also offer the users a large number of recipes to choose from. One can even customize the dishes based on the remaining ingredients in the refrigerator.
The Chinese brand also added that it will be offering a robust after sales service experience as well. Notably, the Midea home appliance will also support a special zero degree space that will eliminate the need for users to thaw out meat based products by creating a special humidity controlled space on the inside, which adjusts based on the type of food being stores. This allows for even fruits and vegetables to be stored in a manner that keeps them fresh for longer.
The HarmonyOS enabled refrigerator boasts a total volume of 603 liters, with 382 liters being the volume of the various compartments, while the freezer area has a volume of 194 liters. Furthermore, the device was also highlighted for its energy efficiency as well. The device is currently available on Huawei Mall for a price of 7,999 Yuan (roughly 1,250 US Dollars), but can be purchased right now for a special discounted price of 6,999 Yuan (roughly 1,100 US Dollars).
Realme was started as a sub-brand of OPPO for budget smartphones in the Indian market but has now become an independent brand. It is no longer limited to smartphones and has expanded its presence to several other categories.
The company keeps launching new products every now and then. Now, the Chinese brand is gearing up to enter a new product category with the launch of its first-ever laptop which has now been officially teased by Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India and Europe.
The teaser image shows that the laptop from Realme will have a metal build and silver color that seems too similar to the MacBook lineup from Apple. Apart from that, nothing more has been revealed by the company so far. Along with the teaser, Madhav Sheth has shared a message in binary code, which reads out the phrase “Hello World!”
A couple of months ago, it was revealed that Realme could soon be launching several new products in the market, including a MeowBook laptop, Meow AI speaker, and Meow VR glasses. This means that the upcoming laptop, which has been teased by the company, could be named MeowBook.
It remains to be seen if the laptops are powered by Intel or AMD chips. We are expecting multiple RAM and storage configurations for the upcoming device. Given that none of Realme’s parent or sister companies make laptops, it’s most likely that the brand will be relying on ODMs. One thing is for sure that the notebook will run Windows 10 operating system out-of-the-box.
Earlier this year, reports indicated that the Realme laptop could be launched in June this year and in line with that, the teaser of the laptop has now been unveiled by the company. Going by this, the official launch could be just a few days or weeks away.
Realme seems to be following the strategy of Xiaomi and Redmi which have entered almost all categories of consumer electronics. Once launched, the Realme laptop will compete against the likes of Mi Notebook and RedmiBook with competitive pricing.
