Realme C25 vs Redmi 9 Prime: Specs Comparison

The entry-level segment offers a lot of choices in 2021. If you are an average user and you do not need very high performance, you can get a pretty decent user experience even with low-end handsets. Among the most performing devices in the lowest price range there are Realme C25 and Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime. Two all-rounders with very good spec sheets offered at very affordable prices. But which one is the best and suits your needs the most? If you have this question, you should find the answer after reading this specs comparison between two of the best entry-level phones in the smartphone market.

Design

The Realme C25 and the Redmi 9 Prime do not come with a premium design, just like all the other entry-level phones. They have a body made of polycarbonate, but the Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime has a water-repellent coating which is very nice if you want to use the phone in the rain. Both the phones come with a waterdrop notch instead of those modern punch-hole displays, and both offer a rear-mounted fingerprint reader for authentication. The Redmi 9 Prime is slightly more comfortable for one-handed use and to keep in a pocket: it is thinner and lighter thanks to its smaller battery.

Display

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime has a superior display for one single reason: the Full HD+ resolution. With a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, it offers a higher level of definition, the same as most of the midrange phones out there. The Realme C25, instead, comes with a below-average HD+ resolution (720p). Both are IPS panels with similar levels of brightness: the Realme C25 has slightly higher brightness, but the resolution is definitely a more important thing, so the Redmi 9 Prime wins the display comparison.

Specs & Software

If you need the most advanced hardware setup, you should choose the Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime. It has a more powerful Helio G80, while the Realme C25 is powered by the Helio G70 chipset. However, the difference in performance is just marginal: the Helio G70 is not a disappointing chipset compared to the G80. The memory configurations are the same: 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of native storage depending on the chosen variant. The Redmi 9 Prime runs Android 10 out of the box, while the Realme C25 comes with Android 11. So, you will most likely get longer software support and a more advanced software department with the Realme C25.

Camera

The camera setup of the Realme C25 changes depending on the market. In the international market, the handset comes with a triple camera including a 48 MP main sensor which is definitely better than the 13 MP quad camera found on the Redmi 9 Prime. But the Indian version of the phone has an inferior 13 MP triple camera. If we consider the Indian version, then Redmi 9 Prime is a better camera phone because it adds an 8 MP ultrawide sensor. But if we talk about the international version, Realme C25 is better thanks to its great 48 MP main camera.

Battery

The Realme C25 has a bigger battery: with a capacity of 6000 mAh, it is able to provide stunning battery life and it even supports wireless charging. The Redmi 9 Prime lacks wireless charging support and comes with a battery capacity of 5020 mAh. Further, the higher resolution of the display makes the energy consumption higher. The Realme C25 is one of the best battery phones of the year, but Redmi 9 Prime is still great when it comes to battery life.

Price

The starting price of the Realme C25 is about €140/$168, while the Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime starts from €106/$127 in the Indian market. If we exclude the display resolution, overall, the Realme C25 is a more convincing handset. But if you care about the resolution, you’d better go for the Redmi 9 Prime which also offers a slightly better chipset, while packing a smaller but still good battery.

Leaker reveals the Honor 50 will arrive before Huawei P50

Honor is expected to launch the Honor View40 for global markets but it is yet to do so. Another device that has been reported that will get an international release is the Honor 40, or is it the Honor 50 now?

Yes, we are equally surprised, but a leaker has namedropped the Honor 50 when we are yet to even see the Honor 40. A tweet by the leaker that goes by @RODENT950 has said that the Honor 50 will launch before the Huawei P50. We are not sure if Honor plans to launch the Honor 50 in place of the Honor 40 or if it plans to launch both devices one after the other.

The Huawei P50 has had to be delayed: the phone which was reported to launch this month is now said to be scheduled for a possible release in June, no thanks to supply chain issues that the company is facing. There is no official confirmation that the launch will happen in June, so we won’t rule out the possibility of it arriving earlier or even later.

However, if the tweet above is true, we can infer that Honor will launch its own flagship phone, the Honor 50, before the Huawei P50’s announcement in June or whenever it might be.

This new info is still unconfirmed, so we will advise you to take it with a pinch of salt until more details surface.

Teclast T40 5G packing the 6nm UNISOC Tiger T7520 5G SoC launching soon

Teclast has revealed that its first 5G tablet will be unveiled soon. The brand disclosed recently (via IThome) that the tablet will be called T40 5G and is already in the prototype stage with the release expected as soon as it passes the functional tests. Teclast T40 5G

Perhaps, the most interesting part of the announcement is the disclosure that the T40 5G will be powered by the UNISOC Tiger T7520 chip. The Tiger T7520 processor is a 5G chipset and the first to be built using a 6nm EUV process. The 6nm process has an increased transistor density of 18% compared to the 7nm process. It also brings a reduction in the power consumption by 8% over its predecessor. The T7520 chipset was first announced in February last year with the release set for early 2021. Thus, the Teclast T40 may be the first device to utilize the chipset.

Teclast T40 5g

Teclast didn’t release further details of the T40 5G but the brand launched a 4G version of the T40 towards the end of last month. The Teclast T40 4G is powered by a UNISOC Tiger T618 processor. The tablet features a 10.4-inch fullscreen display with a 2K resolution. The tablet also comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of flash memory. Keeping the lights on is a massive 8000mAh battery. The T40 4G equally features four stereo speakers and a gyroscope. We expected the 5G version to retain most of these configurations including the display size. The major difference will be the 5G chipset and perhaps more RAM and storage options.

Teclast is yet to release the launch itinerary for the T40 5G. We’ll keep you updated when more details emerge.

Xiaomi Smoke Detector with 5 years of battery life launched for ¥149 (~$22)

Xiaomi has launched a new smart home product that is presently on sale via the Youpin platform. The Xiaomi Smoke Detector, as it is called, is a product jointly created by Xiaomi and Honeywell and the logos of the two brands are printed at the front of the device. Xiaomi smoke detector alarm

The smoke detector/alarm is certified by China’s 3C as a fire protection product meaning that it has a high level of reliability. It can be paired with the MIJIA app to form part of the smart home ecosystem. In this regard, the product uses Bluetooth 5.0 connection mode, which means it needs to be used with a Bluetooth gateway such as Xiaomi smart speakers. As a matter of fact, Xiaomi had earlier launched a smoke detector some years back but that model uses a WiFi gateway which is the major difference with this model.Xiaomi Smoke Detector Alarm

Just like the previous model, the Xiaomi Smoke Detector uses an optical labyrinth design, which can detect smoke particles produced by a fire, and immediately trigger an alarm at the first time.

When a dangerous situation is detected, a strong alarm will be issued through the mobile device. If a false alarm occurs, the user can use the MIJIA app on the mobile phone to mute the sound remotely.

The smoke detector has its own loudspeaker, which can emit an alarm sound of 80dB loudness within 3 meters, allowing family members to respond and deal with it in time. The outer shell of the product is made of anti-UV material, which is not easy to turn yellow after long-term use. The alarm also has an anti-insect net to ensure sensitive detection parts are not obscured by insects. Xiaomi Smoke Detector Alarm

In addition, it uses CR17450 specification disposable lithium-manganese battery with a capacity of 2400mAh and a battery life of up to 5 years. The gadget can either be screwed to the wall or stamped on the wall surface as desired. The installation plate, screws, battery, and other accessories are included in the package, and users do not need to buy them separately.

Xiaomi Smoke Detector is priced at 149 yuan (~$22) and is presently available in China via Xiaomi Youpin. We expect it to be released overseas in due course.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Lite 5G render leaked, shows S-Pen support, Dual-Cameras, & more

Samsung is likely to launch Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and S7 Lite 5G in a couple of months. Among these, the render of the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite 5G has now appeared online.

Shared by Evan Blass on Voice, the post shows the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite 5G. If you recall, an earlier report said that the device would launch in four colors- Black, Silver, Pink, and Green. And the render shared by Evan shows the device in a Mystic Black color variant.

Talking about the image, the device looks a lot like its sibling Galaxy Tab S7. We have a magnetic attachment on the Aluminum back panel for holding the S-Pen. And speaking of which, the renders show that the device will most likely have the S-Pen support.

That said, Considering Samsung made users buy the S-Pen for the Galaxy Tab S7 separately, we can expect the same for the ‘Lite’ variant. Moving on, the device has USB-C and speakers at the bottom, while the top has another speaker to probably complete the stereo setup.

Also, there are dual-cameras on the back just like the Galaxy Tab S7 but we will have to wait for the official word to know if it will have the same 13MP and 8MP sensors. Upfront, we have a display that is said to be a 12.4-inch LCD panel with noticeable bezels around on all sides.

The Galaxy Tab S7 Lite will likely launch in certain markets in two models- 4G LTE (SM-T735) and Wi-Fi only (SM-T730). However, Europe is said to get a 5G variant instead of 4G. Geekbench listings suggest that the 5G variant will have Snapdragon 750G chipset.

Other expected features include Galaxy Continuity(using a tablet as a secondary screen for their Galaxy smartphone), at least 4GB of RAM, and run Android 11 OS. We can expect the device to launch in June / July 2021.

ZTE Axon 30 Ultra will be available outside China; a challenger to the Mi 11 Ultra?

If you are wondering if the spanking new Axon 30 Ultra will be available outside China, then there is good news. ZTE has announced that the new flagship will be available for its international fans.

According to a Weibo post by ZTE Mobile, the company operates in more than 100 countries and it is aware that it has lots of fans outside China. In that light, it will be bringing the Axon 30 Ultra to them via its international website, ztedevices.com.

ZTE Axon 30 Ultra global availability

This is the same platform it announced the Axon 20 5G last year. However, we hope ZTE doesn’t repeat the “invite-first” sale method but makes it available for open sale once it is listed. ZTE ships the Axon 20 5G to more than 40 countries according to the information on the site, so we expect the Axon 30 Ultra will be available to these markets too. It has also been reported by The Verge that it will be sold in the US and Canada.

When will it be available? ZTE didn’t say neither did it reveal the price tag. Seeing as the Axon 20 5G wasn’t available until three months after its launch in China, there is a possibility that the Axon 30 Ultra will not be available so soon.

The Axon 30 Ultra has a Snapdragon 888 processor; four rear cameras, three of which are 64MP sensors; while it has up to 16GB of RAM, it appears only the 8GB RAM and 12GB RAM variants will be available outside China. The phone has a curved AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 4600mAh battery, and support for 66W fast wired charging.
