POCO M3 sales crosses half a million units in India

Last year, POCO India brought many budget devices to India, sold them well, and continued it with the POCO M3 recently. After sharing the device’s initial sales data, the company is back with more details.

Poco M3 review 01

In a tweet, POCO India has confirmed that the POCO M3 has sold over 500,000 units in India. The company also said that the device achieved this in just 45 days from the first sale. Earlier, the first sale had clocked around 150,000+ units which is a substantial number considering the device is limited exclusively to Flipkart.

POCO India became the third-largest online smartphone brand in the country towards the end of last year. Thanks to devices like the POCO C3, POCO M2, POCO X3, the company has managed to outsell the expectations every time.

Going forward, with the resurrection of the flagship killer in the form of POCO X3 Pro, it can very well break all the previous sale records in the near future. The company has a new ‘Made of Mad’ mascot to take on the rivals and is probably looking to expand its portfolio further.

POCO M3 is a budget smartphone retailing at a starting price of ₹10,999 in the country. Before launching in India, the device appeared first in global markets with a launch price of $129.

For the price, the device offers a refreshing design with a leather-like finish on the back, 6.53-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 662 chipset, 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging, triple-cameras with 48MP f/1.79 main lens, and more.

Skullcandy Indy ANC TWS launched in India with up to 32-hour battery life and built-in Tile

Skullcandy is a popular American audio brand. Back in November, the company launched two new products in India, namely Spoke (TWS) and Crusher Evo (Over-ear Headphones). Now, four months later, the brand has launched its first-ever truly wireless earphones called Indy ANC in the country.

The newly released Skullcandy Indy ANC TWS is priced at ₹10,999 ($152) in India. It is currently up for pre-order on the brand’s official website. As per the listing, the earphones will start shipping from April 4. Lastly, like most Skullcandy products, the latest one should be also available from multiple retailers in the coming days.

The Skullcandy Indy ANC truly wireless earphones feature a similar design as the original with some minor differences. The buds sport 12mm drivers and connect with devices via Bluetooth 5.0.

As the name suggests, the main highlight of these earbuds is ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).  Also, like most ANC-enabled earphones, these also support ‘Ambient Mode’ (transparency). Both of these modes can be enabled and disable using touch gestures, in addition to media controls.

Further, these buds are also compatible with the Skullcandy app. This application lets user create their ‘Personal Sound Profile’. The app optimizes sound for the wearers using Audiodo™ technology.

Additionally, like the Crusher Evo, the Indy ANC also comes with built-in Tile. Hence, users can easily locate the buds if they misplace them. But sadly, the product is only sold in Black color in India and it weighs 76g.

Lastly, users can get up to 9 hours of music playback on a single charge with ANC turned off. With the charging case that charges via USB Type-C and Qi wireless charging, this number increases to 32 hours. On the other hand, with ANC enabled, these figures drop to 5 hours and 19 hours respectively.

Huawei patents long range wireless charging technology

Huawei has just filed a patent for a new technology. This patent is for a new “wireless charging system,” which is capable of ranged transmission. In other words, it describes a system that is capable of raising the distance for the wireless charging technology.

Huawei

According to an ITHome report, the patent with a publication number CN112564295A describes a wireless charging technology, which is capable of transmission while having a distance between transmitting electrode and the one receiving electrode. To put it simply, its ranged form of wireless charging technology. Looking at the patent description, it states that current wireless charging technology requires two coils to be placed directly opposite to each other, with the distance between the two being very close to transmit power.

This greatly limits the application of the wireless charging technology. Thus, the patent from the Chinese tech giant states that it could work with a variety of materials like iron, aluminum, copper, other alloys, metal pipes, and various other items. Furthermore, it also adds that the technology can also use humans, animals, soil, earth, sea water and other non metallic dielectric objects to as well, as long as its conductivity is greater than that of air to pass a charge through them.

Huawei

The patent from Huawei seeks to raise the applications of wireless charging technology as a whole. By increasing the effective range of charging, this technology could be a boon for various other products apart from smartphones as well, including smartwatches and smart bands. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing if the company is actually working on such a product or is simply covering all bases.

The newly launched Amazfit T-Rex Pro is a spec upgrade over the Amazfit T-Rex. The latest rugged smartwatch from Huami looks identical to the original but features certain additional features that make it a Pro.

The wearable is priced at ₹12,999 ($180) in India. As of now, it can be only purchased from the brand’s official website. Customers can pick it up in either Meteorite Black, Desert Grey, or Steel Blue color option. The older model from last year is currently retailing for ₹9,999 in the region.

As mentioned in the beginning, the Amazift T-Rex Pro features a similar design as the vanilla Amazfit T-Rex with some updated specs. These upgrades include a SpO2 sensor for blood oxygen level monitoring, BioTracker™ 2 PPG Bio-Tracking Optical Sensor, 10ATM water-resistance, 15 military-grade certifications, 100+ sports modes, 3-axis gyroscope sensor, barometer, improved UI, and BeidDOu as well as GALILEO in addition to GPS and GLONASS for location tracking.

However, the Pro model only offers up to 18-day battery life on typical usage compared to 20 days on the original despite featuring the same 390mAh battery and a 1.3-inch circular AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels.
