Nubia RedMagic 6, 6 Pro launched in China: Specs, Features, and Price

Nubia has finally launched the RedMagic 6 series in China. The lineup has RedMagic 6, RedMagic 6 Pro and starts as low as 3,799 yuan($588) in the country.

The RedMagic 6 and 6 Pro comes with at least 8GB and 12GB RAM respectively but both have 128GB as the starting storage option. You can look at the pricing below:

For the global markets, the company did tease that it is coming soon. And if you look at the Global website, the teaser page says that something regarding the devices will be unveiled on March 16 and the launch event will probably be on April 2, 2021.

RedMagic 6, 6 Pro Design, Display

The company calls the design of the RedMagic 6 as Mecha Sci-Fi. It has carbon fiber texture all over its rear panel and asymmetrical lighting to match the gaming theme. It has the RedMagic and Tencent logo out of which the first one lights up. It is available in two colors- Carbon Fiber Black and Cyber Neon(Blue and Purple Gradient design).

The difference here is that the Pro variant has a combo of Aviation grade Aluminum alloy and glass. The RedMagic 6 Pro comes in Iron Black and Ice Blade Silver colors. There is a Transparent version with lighting for Fan inside but it’s limited to the 16GB and 18GB RAM versions.

RedMagic 6 features a 6.8-inch AMOLED full screen with a 165Hz refresh rate and 2400×1080 pixel resolution. This display also has a 500Hz single finger touch sampling & 300Hz multi-finger touch sampling rates with a latency of just 8ms. It also has 10-bit color support, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, SGS certification for low smear & blue-light.

Other features of the display include 91.28% screen-body ratio, 1000000:1 contrast ratio, sixth-generation in-display fingerprint scanner.

RedMagic 6 Specifications and Gaming Features

Under the hood, the RedMagic 6 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. This is paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

For gaming, the devices have two shoulder IC-touch buttons on the right that have upto 400Hz touch response rate. The company says that the RedMagic 6 series incorporates the following technologies for better optimization during gaming:

For cooling, the RedMagic 6 series have ICE 6.0 multi-dimensional cooling systems. The RedMagic 6 Pro has an extra Aviation-grade cooling Ice plate(7-layers in Total).

Additionally, there is a high-speed centrifugal fan inside for venting the hot air out. Here, the fan on the RedMagic 6 has a maximum of 18,000 RPM while the RedMagic 6 Pro has 20,000 RPM.

RedMagic 6 series Camera and other features

For cameras, we have a Triple-rear camera setup with a 64MP main lens, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro sensor. Upfront, you get a single 8MP selfie shooter. Nubia has loaded the device with 4K video, HDR support and in-house Neovision camera optimizations, Cyberpunk filters etc.

For battery, the RedMagic 6 has a 5,050mAh battery with 66W charging while the RedMagic 6 Pro has a 4,500mAh battery with 120W charging support(GaN charger).

Other features include Wi-Fi 6 2*2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, BeiDou, SA/NSA 5G, 3.5mm audio jack, Dual Stereo speakers, DTS X Ultra and Qualcomm aptX support, Three-microphone array, multi-mode wired/wireless projection to a TV(up to 1080p at 165fps), and RedMagic OS 4.0 based on Android 11.

Finally, the RedMagic 6, 6 Pro measure 169×77.09×9.7mm and 169×77.09×9.8mm respectively but both weigh 220 grams.

Samsung announced the Galaxy A02s budget smartphone in late November 2020. The same handset later debuted as Galaxy M02s in India. Now, as per new findings, the device may also launch as Galaxy F02s in the near future.

The existence of Galaxy F02s is revealed by the phone’s Google Play Console listing. It confirms the handset to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM.

Further, the device will flaunt a display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels (HD+) and 280 DPI. Lastly, on the software front, it will ship with Android 10 (One UI Core 2.x).

All these parameters and the branding suggest it to be a rebadged Galaxy A02s and Galaxy M02s respectively. Hence, we expect the smartphone to retain all the features of the other two.

Also, since the Galaxy F series is exclusive to India, we think it should be only available in the said country. However, a different phone (Galaxy M02s) with the exact specs are already available in the region.

Therefore, the Galaxy F02s could sport a different rear design to differentiate itself. That said, the South Korean tech giant is yet to officially confirm the launch date of this budget smartphone.

Red Magic Watch unveiled in China; starts at ¥599 (~$93)

Nubia has made its entry into the smartwatch market with the launch of the Red Magic Watch in China. While the smartwatch’s design doesn’t particularly leave an impression, its starting price of ¥599 (~$93) along with its multitude of features gives it a fighting chance.

The Red Magic Watch has a 1.39-inch AMOLED retina display with a 454 x 454 resolution. There is a tachymeter etched on the bezel and on the right side of the metal alloy case are two buttons including one with a red ring. The case is available in two colors – silver and gunmetal black – and is paired with either silicone or leather straps which Nubia claims are skin-friendly. There are several watch faces users can choose from and you can also use your own photos as a watch face.

The smartwatch, which has a 5 ATM waterproof rating, supports 16 different sports modes including football; outdoor/indoor running, cycling, and walking; basketball; rowing; elliptical; hiking; yoga; cricket; swimming; and free training. The football mode also has a heat map that shows your most active positions after a game.

The Red Magic Watch has a Sony CXD5605 GNSS receiver which brings GPS, QZSS, and Beidou satellite positioning. It also has a Goodix GH3011 health sensor that works with an AI algorithm for faster tracking of vitals such as heart rate (24h) and Blood oxygen (even when sleeping).

In June 2020, OPPO launched three fitness trackers in China, namely OPPO Band, OPPO Band Fashion, and OPPO Band EVA. The first model is sold as the OnePlus Band in India. Now, the second product has been officially confirmed to launch as OPPO Band Style in the country. It will be officially unveiled at the OPPO F19 series launch event, which is scheduled for March 8 at 7 PM.

All three OPPO Band models have the exact same set of specifications. They only differ in terms of design. Hence, the upcoming OPPO Band Style will be similar to the already available OnePlus Band, however, the former will have a floating strap design.

Talking about the specs, the OPPO Band Style will sport a 1.1-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 126 x 294 pixels. The panel will cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and will be protected by 2.5D curved glass.

Being a fitness tracker, it will come with sensors like an accelerometer, PPG heart-rate sensor, and SpO2 sensor for blood oxygen level monitoring. The Chinese variant has NFC as well as 12 sports modes. But the version releasing in India may not feature NFC and the number of sports modes are a mystery as of now.

But we can expect standard features like weather, app notifications, stopwatch, call & message alerts, alarm, music playback controls, find my phone, and more. Also, it should have support for sleep monitoring and multiple band faces.

Further, it will be powered by OPPO Apollo 3 chip and will be able to connect with both Android smartphones and iPhones via Bluetooth 5.0 using the HeyTap Health companion app.

Last but not least, the OPPO Band Syle will be backed by a 100mAh battery and will charge via a pogo pin connector.

SMIC receives license to trade with US firms for matured process equipment: Report

SMIC, China’s largest chip maker, has apparently received a license to import matured process equipment from American firms. The news arrives amid the global chip shortage, which experts believe was further aggravated by the Trump-era regulations.

According to a GlobalTimes report, the Chinese semiconductor based firm has received license to trade with at least one US based supplier. Although, the government has yet to allow SMIC access to advanced processes like 7nm or below technology. Experts believe that the primary reason for allowing SMIC to import with America is due to the Trump administration’s sanctions disrupting supply chains and even hurting the interests of many local firms.

The report adds that the Chinese chip maker has received access to US licenses to import equipment for use in mature processes, with one US supplier already receiving the license, while two other firms are awaiting approval at the moment. Both companies are also expected to likely receive the license to trade with SMIC as well. Currently, the Chinese tech giant has access to 14nm and above processes and not the 10nm or below processes.

Xiang Ligang, an independent analyst, added that the US will probably gradually ease supply restrictions of chip equipment to China based firms, but are also likely to control the advanced technologies like 7nm or below for a while. Xiang further added that “The US government ban on Chinese semiconductor sector has not only disrupted global semiconductor supply but also hurt the interests of their own companies as well. I believe the Biden administration is moving to correct the situation.”

Lenovo is one of the few popular Android tablet OEMs in the world. The company sells tablets at various price segments, just like Samsung and HUAWEI. It recently launched a premium tablet called Lenovo Tab P11 Pro, which is also known as Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro in China. Now, it looks like the firm will be soon releasing another high-end model called Lenovo YOGA Tab 13.

The last Lenovo YOGA Android tablet was announced back in September 2019. It was a mid-range tablet called Lenovo YOGA Smart Tab with an entry-level SoC. But this upcoming Lenovo YOGA Tab 13 could be a premium product, as per new findings.

According to Geekbench, the new Lenovo YOGA Tab 13 with model number YT-K606F will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM. The device will run Android 11 and will be capable of scoring around 975 points and 3177 points in single-core and multi-core tests respectively.

Further, the Google Play Console listing reveals it to sport a 2K display with a resolution of 1350 x 2160 pixels and 240 DPI. The listing also exposes a render of the tablet’s front but it does not much about the product’s design. Lastly, going by the name, we can expect it to feature a 13-inch screen.

Nothing else is known about the Lenovo YOGA Tab 13 apart from the above-mentioned parameters. But we can expect to learn about this tablet in the coming days ahead of its official announcement.

Oppo Find X3 camera teased, features dual primary sensors

The Oppo Find X3 has just been teased earlier today (4th March 2021). The company shared the new teaser poster in its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, which showcased the device’s camera system.

As per the social media post, the company will be equipping the upcoming handset with dual primary cameras. With the new image poster, the Chinese tech giant also hinted at some of the rear camera modules’ capabilities. The dual image sensor will support 1 billion color depth support, meaning, it can record additional colors with more details. This marks the first step towards a full link 10bit color engine.

Notably, the dual primary lens is both flagship level sensors. In other words, the Find X3 has quite a bit of potential in camera performance. Furthermore, the upcoming device will also be the first to be equipped with the full link 10bit engine, which handles the entire image processing, encoding, decoding, and display. Unfortunately, the smartphone manufacturer refrained from revealing any further details regarding the device, so stay tuned as we will be providing updates when additional information is available.

Earlier today (4th March 2021), Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, announced on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, that it would launch the upcoming OnePlus 9 series soon but will continue the availability for the previous year’s 8 series flagship lineup as well, to keep up with market demand.

As per the social media post, the senior executive of the Chinese tech giant states that it will launch the latest OnePlus 9 series and will not be discontinuing the 8, 8 Pro, and 8T models, whose stocks will still be continuously maintained for the first half of this year. During this time, the company will also form a product strategy policy with new products that are launching this year to guarantee shipments from both offline and online channels.

For those unaware, this is a change from its strategies from the past where it usually discontinued the past generation lineups after the launch of the latest iteration. In other words, smartphones from two different generation series will be officially sold at the same time, for at least the first half of 2021. Furthermore, the company is expected to launch three models in the 9 series this year along with its first smartwatch.

The company is set to launch the OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and 9R, with the first two variants being high end flagships while the 9R is a mid range handset. The 9 and 9 Pro will arrive with the Snapdragon 888 SoC and other top notch specs, while the 9R will house a Snapdragon 690 SoC. Rumors have it that Samsung may announce a new tablet named the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite in June. The 5G variant of the device (SM-T736B model number) was recently spotted at the Geekbench benchmarking platform. It is speculated that the tablet will be also available in 4G LTE (SM-T735) and Wi-Fi only (SM-T730) models. A new leak by GalaxyClub.nl has revealed the color variants of the tablet.

According to the publication, the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite will land in Europe in Wi-Fi only and 5G variants. It revealed that the tablet will be landing in Europe in colors like black, silver, pink, and green – probably even light green. It added that the slate will arrive in two storage choices. However, it did not share the exact capacities.

The Geekbench 5 appearance of the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite 5G revealed that it is powered by the Snapdragon 750G mobile platform and 4GB of RAM. It is expected to come preloaded with Android 11 OS.

Past reports have claimed that the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite 5G will be sporting a 12.4-inch LCD TFT screen. A feature called Galaxy Continuity will allow users to use the tablet as a secondary display for a Galaxy smartphone. It will be arriving as the successor to the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, which was announced in April 2020.

The Tab S6 Lite offered users features like a 10.4-inch TFT display, Exynos 9611 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB / 128 GB of storage, and a 7,040mAh battery with 15W charging support. For photography, it featured an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

A new Sony patent has revealed a bizarre technology that the company might be working on. Apparently, the brand might be working on a banana as a possible PlayStation 5 controller.

According to a GamesRadar report, the Japanese tech giant has recently a patent for a new controller device. A patent can carry futuristic or interesting never before seen inventions, but this fruity take on a PS5 controller seems a bit out of place. Looking at the image posters provided by the company, the controller appears to be an actual banana as the firm states that “It would be desirable if a user could use an inexpensive, simple and non-electronic device as a video game peripheral.”

The description of the original patent filing also reads the “The present disclosure seeks to address or at least alleviate some of the above-identified problems.” To tackle this issue, the company is working on a solution that will allow “non luminous passive object being held by a user.” This implies that we might be able to see the application of the controller on other objects as well, like a pen, pencil, orange, or even a banana.

Keep in mind, that the patent from Sony doesn’t offer any details regarding this new technology, only offering loose references to items that can theoretically be used as a simple computer. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the company is actually working on such a product, but stay tuned for more updates.

Recently, we saw signs of POCO prepping the POCO X3 Pro and POCO F3 smartphones. Today, Indian tech influencer Mukul Sharma has come out with exclusive info regarding their Global launch and specs.

Mukul in a Twitter post, says that POCO F3 and POCO X3 Pro Global launch could happen this month, i.e., March. Among these, the POCO X3 Pro is also set to launch in countries like India as per a recent tip by another Twitter user.

To further kindle the rumor of this launch event, POCO Global Spokesperson Angus Kai Ho Ng has already tweeted “March”. Moving on, Mukul says that POCO F3 would be a rebrand of the recently launched Redmi K40 from China.

If this doesn’t ring any bells, the FCC has already certified the POCO F3 and the model number gives away that it is indeed the Redmi K40 rebrand. There are reasons why POCO could have chosen this to be the successor to the POCO F2 Pro. Xiaomi has priced the Redmi K40 aggressively at 1,999 yuan($310) in China.

And for that price, it packs in a 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 870 flagship chipset, 48MP triple rear cameras, and more. Thus, it makes a perfect combo for becoming a member of the legendary POCO F-series of devices.

POCO X3 Pro Specs(Expected)

Coming back, Mukul also sheds light on the specs of the mysterious POCO X3 Pro smartphone. He says that the device will feature a 120Hz FHD+ display, 5,200mAh battery, Snapdragon 860 chipset.

This is a yet-to-be-released chipset from Qualcomm and rumors say that it could be a boosted version of Snapdragon 855+. Also, the type of the display panel is expected to be an IPS LCD but let’s wait for the official info on that.

POCO garnered a fair bit of attention with the POCO F1 back in 2018. It was the cheapest flagship smartphone with a Snapdragon 845 chipset at that time. After that, the company has launched only a flagship POCO F2 Pro Globally and has been bringing a lot of mid-range and budget devices.

Let’s hope POCO surprises us in 2021 by bringing back the affordable flagship killer hype again.

Another day, another finding of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A72 phone has been spotted. This time, the device has appeared at the Google Play Console. Its appearance at the Play Console is yet another hint it may launch soon. Some rumors have claimed that the Galaxy A72 4G will go official by the second week of March.

The Google Play Console listing of the Galaxy A72 4G shows that it is powered by the Snapdragon 720G. The chipset is mentioned with its SM7125 model number. The variant of the A72 that has surfaced at Play Console has 6 GB of RAM. The handset features a punch-hole screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a pixel density of 440ppi. The handset runs on Android 11 OS.

The Snapdragon 720G chip could be coupled with 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM. It may arrive in 128 GB and 256 GB storage choices. For additional storage, it will feature a microSD card slot. The device will come preloaded with One UI 3.x based Android 11 OS.

The Galaxy A72 will draw power from a 5,000mAh battery that will carry support for 25W fast charging. It is expected to arrive in colors like black, white, blue, and violet.

Samsung begins the global launch of its Neo QLED TVs

Samsung Electronics announced earlier this week that it will be launching 21 models of its new Neo QLED TV series, which is three more than LG Electronics’ 18 OLED TV models that it plans on launching.

For those unaware, the Neo QLED TVs arrive with liquid crystal panels that use MiniLEDs as their backlighting. The new model of televisions arrives as an upgrade from the South Korean tech giant’s existing QLED TV lineup, as per TheElec report. The company made the announcement at its online Unbox & Discover event, in which it said that it applied quantum matrix technology and quantum processors on its Neo QLED TVs. Notably, the new models are offer luminance control in 12 bit and 4,096 steps, which allows for high contrast ratio and detailed blacks.

Furthermore, the TV also has 16 neural engines that allow it to optimize 4K and 8K resolutions. Out of the 21 new launches, 8 will support 8K and will arrive in three series and in four different sizes, including 85, 75, 65, and 55 inch variants. Although, the company will only launch four 8K TVs in its home market, South Korea, along with 9 4K TVs. Samsung also added that the Neo QLED TVs will also feature better gaming performance and improved smart features as well, paired with an artificial intelligence based sound system.

The company also showcased its Micro LED TVs during the online event, which used micrometer sized LEDs that emit light on their own. Similarly, the event also showcased LifeStyle TV series, The Frame, The Serif, The Sero, The Premiere, and The Terrace. For gaming, the 2021 iteration of the Odyssey G9 gaming monitor was also announced, which features MiniLED technology and 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time.

The iQOO Neo5 budget flagship phone is scheduled to break cover on March 16. It seems to be the V2055A Vivo phone that was spotted at Google Play Console last month. A Geekbench listing of its alleged Indian variant was also spotted last month. Both listings revealed that the iQOO Neo5 is equipped with Snapdragon 870. Today, iQOO release an official confirmation that the Neo5 will feature the SD870 chipset.

iQOO is now receiving the reservations for the iQOO Neo5 smartphone in China. The new posters released by the brand show that the iQOO Neo5 will feature the Snapdragon 870 chipset and an enhanced version of UFS 3.1 storage. The company also confirmed today that the display will be equipped with an independent chip that will offer better performance, smoother and more realistic screen output with less power consumption.

iQOO Neo5 specifications (Rumored)

Rumors are rife that the iQOO Neo5 has a 6.61-inch OLED screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. It is likely to offer a refresh rate of 120Hz. The circular camera cutout at the top-center position of the screen is said to house a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The iQOO Neo5’s leaked shot that appeared yesterday revealed that it has a triple camera setup. It is rumored to feature a Sony IMX589 lens with OIS as the primary camera, a 13-megapixel superwide lens, and a 2-megapixel sensor. The phone will come preloaded with OriginOS based Android 11 OS.

As expected, Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Note 10 series in India. The lineup includes a total of three devices, namely Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 10 Pro, and Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. They flaunt Super AMOLED displays, Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs, 33W fast charging, up to 108MP camera, and more Let’s take a look at their entire specs and features along with pricing and availability.

Redmi Note 10 Specifications and Features

The vanilla Redmi Note 10 sports a 6.43-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 3.54mm centered punch-hole, 60Hz refresh rate, up to 1,100 nits peak brightness level, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 4500000:1 contrast ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Apple faces lawsuit after an iPhone X exploded in Australian man’s pocket

Apple is facing another lawsuit. This one arrives after an iPhone X model exploded in the pockets of an Australian man. The incident originally occurred back in 2019 but the man is taking legal action now after the company failed to respond to his inquiries about the problem.

According to a 9To5Mac report, the Australian Scientist, Robert De Rose, was sitting in his office when he felt a sudden pain in his leg and heard a fizzing sound from his pocket. As per Robert, “I heard a faint pop sound, followed by a fizz, and then I felt intense pain on my right leg, so I immediately jumped up and realized it was my phone.” After pulling out his iPhone X from his pocket, he noticed that his just one year old device had smoke coming out of it.

The exploding iPhone X caused “second degree burns” on his legs. He further added that “I had ash everywhere, and my skin had peeled back.” Furthermore, De Rose reportedly reached out to the Cupertino based giant multiple times regarding the issue, but was never met with a response. Thus, the Australian scientist has filed the lawsuit working with Carbone Lawyers n taking legal action against Apple over compensation.

Notably, the firm is also representing another person from Melbourne who claims “he was left with a burnt wrist after his Apple Watch overheated.” At the moment, the company is investigating both the complaints, which have been filed with the County Court.
