Xiaomi has introduced a compact uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed specifically for its NAS, which the company unveiled last month. The Xiaomi Smart Storage Power Outage Protection Power Supply is currently available in China on Xiaomi Youpin for an introductory price of 349 yuan (about $49).
Specifications
The device is designed to prevent data corruption and file loss when the power goes out. It includes a built-in 18Wh lithium-ion battery. If the main power drops, this battery keeps the connected NAS running just long enough to complete a safe, normal shutdown.
When the electricity comes back on, the UPS automatically powers the storage unit back up. This means the drive becomes accessible on your network again without you needing to manually restart it.
Setup is straightforward. The UPS uses a plug-and-play design, sitting directly between the existing power adapter and the storage device. MediaTek hasn’t announced a date for its next event, where it will unveil next-generation mobile chipsets, but it usually happens a few days before Qualcomm’s event. So, we can expect the new Dimensity flagships to drop around the second or third week of September.
Much like Qualcomm, MediaTek will also reportedly have multiple chips in the Dimensity 9600 series. Leaks say there could be at least three variants: the standard Dimensity 9600, Dimensity 9600 Pro, and Dimensity 9600s.
While there are still a few weeks left for official announcements, we’ve already gathered enough details from credible leaksters to give you a bigger picture of what’s to come.
Note: A recent leak suggests MediaTek may skip the standard Dimensity 9600. Instead, it’s said to announce three chipsets in the lineup: Dimensity 9600s, Dimensity 9600 Pro, and Dimensity 9600 Pro Max. Since there isn’t enough solid evidence around that, it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt.

One of the biggest highlights of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Dimensity 9600 is that both chipsets will use TSMC’s most advanced 2nm process. It is expected to bring a major reduction in power consumption. This means the chips would consume less power for the same level of performance and deliver better thermal efficiency.
Regarding the CPU layout, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is said to feature a new “2+3+3” layout instead of the regular “2+6” arrangement, prioritizing efficiency over raw CPU performance. It could come with 16MB of L2 cache and 6MB of system-level cache.
The Dimensity 9600 is also said to feature the same “2+3+3” CPU layout, but it will use new-generation ARM cores, whereas the Snapdragon chip uses custom-designed Oryon cores.
Leaks suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 will feature a new Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB of GMEM (dedicated graphics memory). In contrast, the Dimensity 9600 is said to feature ARM’s next-generation Immortalis GPU, codenamed “Magni”. The GPU is said to have hardware-level support for frame generation, which will allow games running at 60fps to be upscaled to 120fps directly on the silicon, bypassing software-based interpolation that can introduce latency.
Both chips are expected to offer support for LPDDR5X memory and UFS 5.0 storage.
According to leaks, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 will feature an upgraded Snapdragon X90 5G modem with advanced AI hardware directly on the baseband chip. Rumor has it that it could reach a peak cellular speed of 15Gbps, up from 12.5Gbps on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Dimensity 9600 should also bring connectivity upgrades, but those are yet to surface in any leaks.

If you’ve been looking into fitness wearables lately, you’ve probably noticed a frustrating trend: almost everything requires a subscription. You buy the hardware, but to actually see your sleep insights or long-term health trends, you have to pay a monthly fee. It’s an annoying model. I recently got the Gabit Smart Ring as a review unit, and it takes an entirely different approach.
This titanium smart ring offers a straightforward proposition: you buy the ring, and you get access to all your data and the companion app for free, for life.
I’ve spent the last few weeks wearing it to see if it can actually compete with the bigger, subscription-heavy names in the market. It has some quirks, but overall, it’s a solid device that does what it promises. Here is what it’s actually like to live with it.
Design and Daily Wear
When it comes to a device you’re supposed to wear 24/7, comfort is the most important factor. The Gabit ring is made of titanium and weighs just 3.1 grams. It’s genuinely lightweight, to the point where I often forget I have it on my finger while typing or going about my day.
Before you get the actual ring, Gabit sends you a sizing kit. I highly recommend taking this step seriously. I wore the plastic sizing ring for a full day to make sure it fit right. You want it snug enough that the sensors stay in contact with your skin, but not so tight that it’s uncomfortable when your hands naturally swell a bit during a workout or in warmer weather. Getting the right fit makes all the difference in how comfortable the ring is long-term.
The build quality is good. The paint job feels premium, and while I’ve accidentally knocked my hand against a few doors and desks, I haven’t noticed any glaring scratches. You’d have to look very closely under a bright light to see any wear and tear. It’s also rated for 5ATM water resistance, meaning it handles daily water exposure just fine. I’ve washed my hands, showered, and done the dishes without taking it off, and it’s held up perfectly. Gabit also sells different skins if you want to change the look of the ring to match an outfit, which is a nice option to have.
There is one minor annoyance with the design, though. The ring uses optical sensors that emit a green light to track your heart rate. In a dark room at night, that green light can be surprisingly bright. If you sleep with your hand near your face, you might notice it flashing, which takes a little getting used to.
Tracking and Accuracy
The Gabit Smart Ring tracks a standard array of health metrics: continuous heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep stages, skin temperature, stress levels, and daily activity like steps and calories.
I’m usually a bit skeptical of how well finger-based sensors perform, so I tested the ring’s heart rate readings against a standard medical pulse oximeter. I checked it while sitting at my desk and right after a workout. Both times, the ring’s readings matched the pulse oximeter almost perfectly. The step counter is also reliable. Like most wearables, it might be off by 100 or 200 steps by the end of the day, but that’s a normal margin of error and gives you a clear enough picture of your daily activity.
However, I do need to clear up some confusion regarding blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking. If you look around online, you might see mentions of SpO2 support. But in practice, it doesn’t seem to be there. When I asked the app’s built-in AI coach about my blood oxygen, it clearly stated that the ring doesn’t support it. If SpO2 tracking is an absolute must-have for you, you should keep this in mind.
On the other hand, the app does include a VO2 Max feature. It estimates your cardiovascular fitness based on your activity data, which is a practical metric to have if you want to monitor your long-term endurance and overall fitness levels.
Sleep and Stress Monitoring
Sleep tracking is where I got the most value out of this ring. To be completely honest, my daily routine was pretty terrible before I started testing this. I’m a night owl, and I frequently find myself going to sleep after 5 AM.
The ring breaks down your sleep into Light, Deep, and REM stages, and compares your total time asleep to your total time in bed. Every morning, you get a Sleep Quality Score, along with your overnight resting heart rate and HRV. Seeing my sleep habits laid out in clear data was helpful. While I haven’t entirely fixed my schedule yet, checking my stats every morning has actually motivated me to try and get to bed a bit earlier. It makes you more aware of your sleep debt.
It also tracks your stress levels throughout the day based on your heart rate and HRV. I found the stress index to be fairly accurate, it usually spiked during busy work hours or when I was rushing around, which serves as a good reminder to take a minute and breathe.
App Experience
A smart ring is only as good as its app, and Gabit has done a really nice job here. The interface is clean, the graphics are easy to read, and it doesn’t feel overly complicated.
Food logging is where Gabit really impressed me. If you’ve ever tried to log Indian food in mainstream fitness apps, you know it can be a hassle. Gabit’s database is very well optimized for Indian diets. Almost every local dish I searched for showed up easily. It also supports voice logging; you just tap a button, say what you ate, and it logs it for you. It’s a small feature, but it makes tracking your calories much less tedious.
The app also features an AI health coach called PEP, which gives you insights based on your data. It looks at your sleep, activity, and recovery levels to tell you if you should push yourself in a workout or take a rest day. It’s a helpful way to tie all the raw data together into something actionable.
Battery Life
The ring itself has great battery life. I consistently got about 7 days of use before needing to charge it, which means you only really have to think about the battery once a week.
However, the charging experience is the main downside of this product. Unlike wireless earbuds or some other smart rings that come with a battery-equipped case, the Gabit charging case doesn’t hold a charge on its own. You have to physically plug the case into a wall outlet or power bank every time you want to charge the ring.
The case itself also feels a bit flimsy and prone to scratching compared to the premium feel of the ring. Additionally, it takes about two hours to charge the ring from zero to full, and I noticed the ring gets a little warm while it’s on the charger. It’s not a dealbreaker since you only have to do it once a week, but it’s definitely an area where Gabit could improve in future versions.
Verdict: Should You Buy It?
The Gabit Smart Ring is a very practical device. It includes almost all the features you’d expect from a modern smart ring while getting the fundamentals right. It’s comfortable, the sensors are accurate, and the app is genuinely useful, especially with its localized food tracking.
At ₹13,883, it’s priced competitively. But the real selling point is the lack of a subscription. Being able to buy a piece of hardware and actually own your data without paying a monthly fee is really great. If you’re looking for a reliable way to keep tabs on your sleep, stress, and daily activity without committing to a long-term subscription, the Gabit Smart Ring is definitely worth considering.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra, packing dual 200-megapixel Hasselblad-tuned sensors, just went through DxOMark’s full testing and came away with a solid, but not quite chart-topping, result.
It scored 170 points, which puts it in third place overall. That’s five points behind the current leader, the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra, and tied with the Vivo X300 Ultra. Even with all that sophisticated camera gear, Oppo didn’t quite claim the top spot.
The Find X9 Ultra runs a versatile quad-camera setup: a 200 MP f/1.5 main camera with a big 1/1.12-inch sensor, a 50 MP f/2.0 ultra-wide on a 1/1.95-inch sensor, a 200 MP f/2.2 periscope telephoto (70 mm equivalent, 1/1.28-inch sensor), and a 50 MP f/3.5 periscope that gives you 10x optical zoom at 230 mm (1/2.75-inch sensor). Those large sensors plus Hasselblad’s color science helped it score well for accurate colors in good light, low noise, and a strong portrait mode.
Where it falls short
DxOMark found a few weak spots. Because the main camera doesn’t have a variable aperture, it can struggle to keep everything in focus during group portraits when the background is busy. Oppo’s AI sometimes tries a little too hard to recover detail and ends up looking unnatural.
Noise reduction also gets messy when there are lights in the background, leaving visible grain. In low light the images often run a bit warm, and artificial lighting can throw the white balance off. The 70 mm and 230 mm telephotos capture plenty of detail, but the intermediate 135 mm range lags behind rivals, even though phones like the Vivo X300 Ultra also lean on digital zoom in that same middle ground.
The Find X9 Ultra had already earned plenty of praise in general reviews for how capable it is overall. The camera scores just underline the same point: big sensors and big brand partnerships aren’t enough on their own. Software processing, consistency across different situations, and how well the computational photography is tuned still decide who comes out on top.
Still, DxOMark’s findings keep it firmly in the elite group. A 170-point score is excellent in a lot of conditions. Future software updates could clean up some of the issues DxOMark flagged and maybe close that gap on a retest. For now, the Find X9 Ultra is a seriously strong imaging phone that just doesn’t quite reach the absolute peak.

Apple just made it a lot easier to get its newest gear without dropping a big chunk of cash upfront. The company has rolled out a new leasing program in the US that gives people more flexible ways to own (or at least use) iPhones, Watches, Macs, and iPads. It’s called Apple Upgrade, and it’s powered by Klarna.
You can sign up for it on the Apple website, in the Apple Store app, or right in a physical store. For iPhones and Apple Watches you can choose 12- or 24-month plans. Macs and iPads get 24- or 36-month options. Monthly payments start as low as $17.99 for an iPhone, $11.99 for a Watch or iPad, and $24.99 for a Mac. Trade in an eligible device through Apple Trade In and that monthly number can drop further.
The application is quick, online or in-store, and only involves a soft credit check, so it won’t ding your credit score. Get approved and you can walk out of the store with the device the same day, or have it delivered/picked up if you ordered online.
When the 24-month lease is up, you can upgrade to a newer model, buy the current one outright by paying a lump-sum residual balance, or just hand it back to Apple in good condition. Everything, including billing and your remaining balance, lives in the Klarna app. You can still add AppleCare if you want the extra protection.
To put some real numbers on it: an iPhone 17 Pro 256GB that normally costs $1,099 would run you about $31.99 a month on a 24-month lease, or roughly $45.99 on the 12-month plan (before taxes or any trade-in credit). An Apple Watch Series 11 GPS 42mm at $399 starts at $11.99 a month for 24 months. No deposit required, though upgrades still depend on eligibility and a fresh approval.
Now that Apple Upgrade is live, the old iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments options are being retired in the US. If you’re already on one of those, you can switch over to the new leasing plan, stick with Apple Card monthly installments, just buy the phone outright, or look at carrier financing instead. The program is only for US residents 18 and older who meet the ID and account requirements, and devices can only be delivered to US addresses or picked up at US stores.

TCL has launched two new desktop gaming monitors, the 32X3B and 27X3B, in China. Both displays are built around fourth-generation Tandem WOLED panels and feature integrated, front-facing speakers tuned by Bang & Olufsen.

The port selection on the 32-inch model is fairly robust. It includes one DisplayPort 2.1 connection, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and a USB-C port that handles up to 90W of power delivery. Timex has released a new set of watches in collaboration with menswear designer Todd Snyder. The new Todd Snyder x Timex Marlin Mesh collection consists of three quartz watches featuring 34mm cases and stainless steel mesh bracelets. The watches were originally designed to accompany Snyder’s Spring/Summer 2026 runway collection and are now available for purchase.
Design Details
The physical dimensions of the watches are relatively small. The polished stainless steel case measures 34mm in diameter and has a height of 10mm. This compact sizing replicates the proportions of the original Timex Marlin watches produced in the 1960s.
The watch is fitted with an 18mm stainless steel mesh bracelet secured by a fold-over clasp, designed to fit wrists measuring 150mm to 205mm, and includes quick-release spring bars for tool-free strap changes.
Timex is offering the watch in three distinct dial colors: aqua blue (model TW2Y84000), salmon pink (model TW2Y83900), and silver-tone (model TW2Y83800). Each dial has a sunray finish, metallic Roman numerals at the quarter-hour positions, and standard markers for the remaining hours.
The dial is covered by a domed acrylic crystal, a lightweight material commonly used in vintage watches that can be polished to remove minor scratches.

A detailed set of leaked documents has given us a clearer picture than usual this early on of the chip known internally as SM8975. It’s expected to launch as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, and on paper it looks like one of Qualcomm’s bigger architectural jumps in a while.
The biggest manufacturing-process update is that it’s moving to TSMC’s enhanced 2 nm-class N2P node, Qualcomm’s first flagship to go beyond 3 nm. Interestingly, the die is still larger than the previous generation (roughly 134 mm² versus 126.2 mm²), even though the process is denser. That usually means they’ve packed in more features and complexity.
The CPU sticks with Qualcomm’s custom Oryon cores in a 2+3+3 setup: two prime cores, three performance cores, and three efficiency cores. Exact clock speeds still aren’t out. On the graphics side, the Pro version gets the Adreno 850 GPU with 18 MB of GMEM (up from the Adreno 840).
It also includes two dedicated Matrix ALU blocks that enable a new feature called AI Frame Fusion. This can do both super-resolution upscaling and AI-generated frames to make games look smoother while using less power. Those Matrix ALUs and AI Frame Fusion appear to be Pro-only. The regular SM8950 is expected to use a scaled-down Adreno 845 with 12 MB of GMEM and skip the new AI blocks.
Cache has been bumped up too, with a shared 16 MB L2 cache plus 8 MB of system-level cache. The Pro model will support both LPDDR5X and the newer LPDDR6, while the base version is limited to LPDDR5X.
The Pro version is expected to cost more to make, so it might be reserved for a smaller group of ultra-premium phones. Qualcomm is set to officially reveal the platform at its Snapdragon Summit in Maui from September 22-24, 2026.
The September summit should fill in the remaining gaps. For now, it looks like a solid step up for the high-end Android phones that will use it.

Portronics has released a new battery-powered air duster, the Tornado Plus. It is priced at Rs. 2,999 in India and designed to clear dust from electronics like keyboards, PC cases, and camera lenses, as well as car interiors and desk spaces.
Portronics Tornado Plus Specifications
The Tornado Plus weighs 289 grams and uses a standard pistol-grip design. It comes in a matte black plastic casing with orange accents on the triggers and vents. Portronics includes several interchangeable nozzle attachments in the box, which allow users to direct the airflow into tighter spaces like PC cooling vents, narrow car dashboard gaps, or between mechanical keyboard switches.
Inside, the duster is equipped with a 160-watt brushless motor. It features three distinct speed settings to manage the airflow depending on the task at hand. The lowest setting operates at 25,000 RPM, which is intended for clearing loose dust off delicate components without causing damage. The medium setting increases the speed to 60,000 RPM, while the maximum setting pushes the motor to 130,000 RPM for clearing out heavier, stuck-on dirt buildup.
The device is powered by two 3,000mAh batteries. Battery life depends entirely on the speed setting used. On the lowest gear, the duster can run for up to 30 minutes. This drops to 25 minutes on the medium setting, and just 10 minutes if you run it continuously at the maximum speed. Charging is handled via a standard USB-C port located on the handle. It takes approximately three hours to fully recharge the device using a standard wall adapter, laptop port, or power bank.
Portronics has also built in a few standard safety features to manage the motor’s heat and power draw. The duster has an overcurrent limit set to 15A and an automatic shutoff mechanism that triggers if the internal temperature gets too high. Additionally, it will automatically power down after three minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life.
Pricing and Availability
The Tornado Plus is available now. While the listed MRP is Rs. 3,999, the current retail price is Rs. 2,999. It can be purchased directly from the Portronics website, Amazon India, Flipkart, and various offline electronics retailers. The device comes with a standard 12-month warranty.
