Huawei Mate X has its Second Hand Units Sold for Twice the Retail Price

Every year, the smartphone industry innovates in a notable manner that leads to popular trends being created. The best example for 2019 would be the in-display fingerprint scanner and the foldable displays. Samsung was one of the first to the race with its infamous Samsung Galaxy Fold that had brought the future near but with its own shortcomings. Similarly, Huawei joined the foldable party with the launch of the Mate X. However, unlike the Galaxy Fold, the Mate X seems to be in pretty short supply. Huawei’s foldable units are reportedly being sold second hand for twice the price owing to limited supplies.

According to a past report, Huawei’s Mate X had sold out within minutes after officially going on sale (being sold for 16,999 Yuan or roughly $2,417). This points to the fact that the device is already a success with the company’s home market. However, the company is still behind shipment as it is struggling to supply the increasing demand. As of today, the Mate X has been completely sold out three times since its official launch.

Owing to this explosive popularity, a few owners of the Mate X have decided to resell their devices for hefty prices. In certain cases, the Mate X was seen being sold for twice the original price. The second-hand trading platforms are being flooded with bids as high as 39,000 or even about 50,000 Yuan. Considering the actual price is 16,999 Yuan, it translates to two or even three times the resale value of a device. In other words, a massive profit margin is being made as the device is being circulated online through unofficial channels.

The Chinese tech giant has hit all the right notes with its customers with the Huawei Mate X. Unfortunately, the second-hand trend might lead to some issues regarding future sales or even fake units being used to trick buyers. So for now, readers should be wary of any unofficial sale of the foldable smartphone and are advised to wait for the official sale that will arrive in the near future.

Richard Yu: Huawei will not enter the field of home appliances

Huawei consumer business CEO Richard Yu said at the MatePad Pro launch conference today that the company has no interest in entering the home appliance field in the future. According to him, the company wants to focus predominantly on mobile phones, smart audio products, computer product and tablets, as well as other smart consumer products such as smart wear, smart bracelets and smart watches.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Richard Yu express absolutely no interest in home appliances. During the China Household Appliances and Consumer Electronics Expo in Shanghai on March 14th, the company took a deep dive into the smart home products market with their smart TVs, as well as applying a bigger focus towards AI development.

During that Expo, Richard Yu claimed that the company “has a selfishness in doing IoT. Our goal is to improve the stickiness of smart terminal users. Therefore, Huawei IoT and Huawei mobile phones are a whole and inseparable. In the future, your home hardware can be controlled by Huawei mobile phones.”

This is in stark contrast to their competitors, especially Xiaomi who have invested heavily into all sorts of home appliances that connect to their Mi Home infrastructure. According to Richard Yu, the company will never make smart hardware for home appliances, and will only provide consumers with a seamless experiences on pre-existing products.

Xiaomi launches Donlim Multi-function Breakfast Machine

Earlier today, Xiaomi launched their latest device, something we haven’t really seen from the company before. The new Multi-function Breakfast Machine comes from Xiaomi partner Donlim, and has five cooking methods built into the device. It’s an extremely interesting take on portable kitchens, and could be useful in a lot of ways.

The Multi-function Breakfast Machine comes with a bread toaster and electric stove. The toaster obviously toasts toast, but the electric stove allows you to steam, stir-fry, boil and make essentially anything you can make on a normal stove. Between these two cooking methods, you can produce basically any breakfast imaginable pretty quickly.

That’s not all of course. Purchasing the Donlim means you get the full suite of breakfast appliances. There’s a built-in 1.2L large capacity pot, which is also equipped with a 304 stainless steel steame. Then there’s also a Teflon non-stick coated frying pan for frying everything you need. There’s a also a pull tray for removing bread chips from the toaster.

The Donlim Multi-function Breakfast Machine goes on sale for 359 yuan, which puts it at about $52. This isn’t all that bad considering all the extras that come with the cooker, and we’d like to see the idea get expanded further in the future with more fixments added to the product.

Realme X50 5G launching soon with dual punch-hole display

Realme smartphone brand was introduced in India last year and it arrived in China this year. Even though Realme is a relatively new brand compared to rivals, it has gained a lot of popularity in a short span of time. The recently launched Realme X2 Pro flagship phone has gained good popularity and the company is also working on to launch its 5G phone in China since the past few months. Realme had recently confirmed that it will be among the first  manufacturers to use Qualcomm’s new dual-mode 5G chipset. It appears that the Realme’s first 5G phone’s arrival is close at hand as Realme China CMO Xu Qi has revealed some key details on it. He revealed that the company’s first 5G smartphone will be arriving as Realme X50 5G  He stressed that with the new 5G lineup, Realme dares to break the conventional norms of technology.

Xu Qi further confirmed that the X50 5G will support both NSA and SA 5G networks. The teaser image released by him reveals a dual punch-hole setup housing the two front cameras. It appears quite similar to the Redmi K30 5G phone that is scheduled to launch in China next month. Qi further revealed that the device is branded True X50, and explained the reason behind the nomenclature. While the X denotes Realme’s maiden lineup that offers users a leapfrog experience, 5 stands for 5G connectivity, while 0 represents Realme’s open 5G leap year.

Realme x50 5g teaser poster

None of the technical specifications of the X50 5G are currently known. Considering the recent teasers, it is possible that Realme might launch the smartphone in China by the end of December. Qualcomm will officially reveal its dual-mode flagship SoC between December 3 and 5 at the Snapdragon Tech Summit. It could be debuting as Snapdragon 865 chipset. Realme is expected to launch the X50 5G shortly after the event.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 could be the first dual-mode chipset designed for mid-range smartphones. Reports that surfaced earlier this year had claimed that Realme could use an SD700-series SoC to power the X50. Things are adding up as the launch date approaches, and it is likely that Realme plans to use the SD735 under the hood of the X50 5G. Rumors further suggest that Realme could also be working on an X50 Pro, featuring the flagship SD865 SoC. However, readers are advised to digest this information with a pinch of salt, as there has been no official confirmation on the subject as of yet.

Origem Black Friday Madness Spree: Get $40 Off on HS-3 or Buy One and Get the Other Free

Gone are the days when music lovers had to rely solely on wired headphones to listen to their favorite soundtracks. The latest technology has enabled us not only to enjoy music on the go but also made several useful features available for a superior listening experience.

blackfriday-origem

On the downside, a top-branded music accessory such as an earphone isn’t necessarily easy on the pocketbook. In other words, getting access to an enhanced listening experience is likely to burn a big hole in your pocket.

As a result, those living on a tight budget end up buying inexpensive alternatives that aren’t crafted to offer an immersive audio experience. it’s a catch-22 situation, which Origem is bent on changing.

Those familiar with music accessories available in the market today are well-versed with Origem, which is a professional earphone brand. As a result of their intense R&D (research and development), Origem has developed its own unique algorithm, which is carefully integrated into the company’s pursuit of delivering unparalleled sound quality.

Earlier this year, Origem officially launched the HS-3, which is the world’s first Bluetooth with HDR function earphones. Poll of The Week: Realme X2 Pro or OnePlus 7T, which gets your money?

After launching in China in October, the Realme X2 Pro finally made its way to India last week. For those on the search for an affordable flagship phone, the X2 Pro should definitely fall under their radar.

Poll of The Week - Realme X2 Pro or OnePlus 7T

For this week’s poll, we are pitting the Realme X2 Pro against another flagship phone – the OnePlus 7T.

Both phones share quite a number of features such as the Snapdragon 855+ processor and both screens being AMOLED panels with a 90Hz refresh rate. However, they also have their individual strengths.

For example, Realme X2 Pro packs a slightly bigger battery and its 50W SuperVOOC fast-charge technology is faster than the OnePlus 7T’s Warp Charge 30T. It also has an audio jack, a feature OnePlus has ditched on its phones since 2018. And to top it all, it is more than $100 cheaper than the OnePlus 7T (in India).

The OnePlus 7T, on the other hand, ships with the latest version of Android out of the box compared to the Realme X2 Pro which runs Android Pie and is scheduled to get the Android 10 update later. The OnePlus 7T will also have a longer software support duration. Going by the manufacturer’s tradition of three major software updates, the OnePlus 7T should get updated up until Android 13. There is a very slim chance the Realme X2 Pro will even get Android 12.

These factors will influence the decision of those looking to purchase either of the two devices. Nevertheless, we want to see which device is the preferred one. So take the poll and drop a comment telling us why you are picking one over the other.

Huawei MatePad Pro retail box, screen protector, specs, and renders, and live photos leak a day before release

The Huawei MatePad Pro launches tomorrow but the leaks are still pouring in. The latest batch of leaks includes a photo of the tablet’s retail box, its screen protector, renders, and specs.

The MatePad Pro will ship in a white box with the device’s name written in gold letterings at the center. The bottom right corner of the box confirms the tablet is powered by the flagship Kirin 990 processor. It also states that the device has Harman Kardon-tuned audio.

Accessory maker, Benks, also gives us a good look at the tablet with the promotional photos of the screen protector made for it. Another image shows a dummy of the tablet and lists some of the specs. Now we know the MatePad Pro will come with a 10.8-inch 2K display, the Kirin 990 processor, quad speakers, a stylus called the M-Pencil, and support for reverse wireless charging.

The deleted review says the M-Pencil weighs 14 grams, has 6 built-in gestures, 20ms low-latency, lasts 10 hours on a single charge and recharges in 1 hour. The tablet itself has a 7250mAh battery, a little smaller than that of the MediaPad M6 10.8.

In addition to the above, we also have live photos that were taken from an early review that was originally posted on the web but taken down due to violation of the NDA. The images show the MatePad Pro with a keyboard case attached and the M-Pencil in use.

The MatePad Pro will come in four color variants – Gray/Black, White, Vegan Leather Orange, and Forest Green. The last two color variants will use the same vegan leather material used for the Mate 30 Pro 5G. Below are renders of the Vegan Leather Forest Green variant.

The MatePad Pro will launch tomorrow alongside two new MateBook computers and a new smart speaker called the Sound X.

Leak reveals Huawei Nova 6 SE is inspired by the iPhone 11 Pro

Huawei will announce the Nova 6 5G on December 5, the same day HMD Global has scheduled for its next Nokia phone launch. However, the Nova 6 may not be the only Huawei phone launching on that day. It may also come along with another phone called the Nova 6 SE whose photo and key specs leaked today.

The leak comes from Huawei Club (@ClubHuawei) and Teme (@RODENT950) on Twitter. Both accounts are known for Huawei and Honor-related leaks.

The Nova 6 SE is the second Huawei phone with the SE suffix in its name. The first is the 2018 Huawei Mate SE which is actually a rebranded Honor 7X. However, Huawei is not the first manufacturer to use the SE suffix. Apple did so first in 2016 when it launched the popular iPhone SE.

Huawei Nova 6 SE

The Nova 6 SE doesn’t only borrow part of its name from an Apple phone. Its design (read rear design) is practically an iPhone 11 Pro with an extra camera.

The leaked image shows the Nova 6 SE has a rear camera design similar to that of Apple’s latest phone but with four cameras inside the squircle instead of three. Huawei has also put the LED flash below the camera housing and not together with the cameras.

On the front, the phone has a punch-hole display with the hole positioned at the top left corner. It is most likely an LCD panel as the image shows the Nova 6 SE has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button.

The Nova 6 SE in the image has a gradient pink finish on the rear, a gold frame, and black borders around the display.

Huawei Nova 6 SE

A second image reveals some key specs of the phone.

The Nova 6 SE will be powered by the Kirin 810 processor which means it is a mid-range device. However, it will get a flagship feature, and that is 40W SuperCharge wired fast charging. This is the same fast charging technology that the Mate 30 series ships with.

The rest of the specs are unknown but should be pretty interesting. We believe the Nova 6 SE will launch on the same day as the Nova 6 5G but it will not support 5G like its sibling.

Samsung Galaxy S11e renders leak too: same S11 design but with triple rear cameras

It is raining Samsung leaks this week. Just two days ago, 3D renders of the Galaxy A71 were posted online and were followed by those of the Galaxy S11 yesterday. Today, we have 3D renders that give us an early look at the Galaxy S11e.

Samsung Galaxy S11e

Once again, the source of the renders is @OnLeaks and he has partnered with Pricebaba this time. The Galaxy S11e will succeed the Galaxy S10e, and it too should be the most affordable version of the series.

The renders show that Samsung will adopt the same design for the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11e. So we are getting a punch-hole display similar to that of the Galaxy Note10. The punch-hole is not the only design change the Galaxy S11e will have. The phone will also get a curved display rather than a flat one like that of the S10e.

Samsung is also going with the same rear camera design as the Galaxy S11. However, rather than five cameras, there are three cameras, one more sensor than that of its predecessor, along with the LED flash inside the housing.

Also, the Galaxy S11e will ditch the side-mounted fingerprint scanner of the Galaxy S10e for an in-display sensor when it arrives next year.

The bottom of the phone is home to a USB Type-C port and it is flanked on the left by the primary microphone and on the right by the speaker grille. The right side of the device houses the volume and power buttons. OnLeaks says the device is missing a SIM tray slot in the renders because he’s not sure where it will be. However, based on the S10e, the SIM tray will most likely remain at the top.

The Galaxy S11e will have a display size between 6.2 and 6.3-inches. Its dimensions are given as 151.7 x 69.1 x 9.1 millimeters (adding the camera bump). The phone should also come with a Snapdragon 865 processor (or Samsung’s Exynos flagship SoC). There will be 6GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The phone is also expected to have a larger battery capacity (up to 4000mAh) and it should run OneUi 2.0 based on Android 10 out of the box.

It replaced Google Now a few years ago and offered a whole new service with improved features.

Unlike the Pixel devices, the new Google Feed is not available on the swipe for OnePlus devices. The user either needs to use Nova Launcher or can get the new modded OnePlus launcher for Google Feed. Root access is necessary for modded OnePlus Launcher to work flawlessly without any issue.
